  • Sorry for the long post, I needed to rant on this.

  • Basically what everyone has been saying, springtrap is literally murderous, none of the animatronics are actually murderous, they just dislike the purple guy, who becomes springtrap. Having any other animatronic would make no sense since all the other animatronics are victims in a sense.

  • The only thing that saves leatherface from being one of if not the worst killer in the game is how strong he can be a face campet

  • if we reach a community decision (already an impossible task) and the stackable bonus gets added, we could theoritically all have our cakes saved up, so when it does become stackable then we will get massive value due to everyone hoarding cakes for that moment.

if you mean the legion new skin they not based on FNAF they based on slient hill Robbie the Rabbit

also werent the new legion skins contest winners

  • Survivors have plenty of strong perks, survivors just prefer to have their perks with minimal restrictions which is why they settle for strong but uninteresting perks such as the exhaustion series, unbreakable and DS.

As an observer, hardly any map is killer sided except maybe hawkins, there are just killer situations, no just because you gave the killer the ability to 3 gen because of your choice of generator doesnt mean its a killer sided map, no billy sprinting down haddon field doesnt make haddon field playable.

A fifth killer slot would be extremely interesting, maybe the ability to run an extra add on as well but thats pushing it.

a 2 killer vs 8 survivor 9/8 generator mode with large as a huge bloodpoint farming mode would be extremely interesting for killer and maybe even more fun for survivor to have longer games. It would decentivize tunneling due to a guaranteed kill on one of 8 survivors is not strong

being able to sell add ons would be one of the best thing that has ever happened to bloodpoint gain due to the sheer amount of worthless add ons.

  • Whispers and devour are basically meme tier or crutch killer perks that you can learn to play without in the case of whispers. Unless your killer is specifically good with whispers

  • There are plenty of strong survivor perks, they just have restrictions. Same thing as killer perks, there are plenty of killer perks that are needlessly over balanced

  • Object of obsession because it will become the Object of my gameplay to Obsess over you

I said offerings which you immediately turned around and said tunnel/mori which has been the basis of most of your argument.

DCing from a match where farming is going on isn't detrimental to the game because obviously other players are participating in it and the DC of a Survivor will not affect the outcome which is to farm points. Comparing that to DCing at the beginning of a match all because you got tunneled or slugged or camped IS detrimental to the game because now it affects everyone who was there playing normally. Someone playing "cheap" doesn't equate to a DC. People find slugging to be cheap, people find tunneling to be cheap, and people find camping to be cheap. No one knows WHY a Killer does that until post chat is they even disclose that. Yes you got your toxic Killers, but not every Killer does it just to make your life miserable.

Now I play Rank 1 Killer and Rank 1/2 Survivor on PC. And from my experience, all my DC's have been because of the choice of my Killer, or the fact they were downed first. If it's not a DC, it's usually a hook suicide. The ones that I have camped and tunneled before whether it was because of strategy or retaliation to their toxic behavior, they DON'T DC. Nor am I trying to impress you with quick downs, but it is an example that I have faced frequently where I downed someone and they immediately DC. Do I know their reasoning? No. But it's probably because it was a bullshit hit to them or they're mad they got downed first, who knows.

Why should I as a Killer and the Survivors participating change the way we play based on someone's ability to have fun, win or play the game? I shouldn't be forced to not play a character I bought with my money for my enjoyment just because they find say Freddy to be a brain dead Killer or that one of my builds is for Endgame and it pertains NOED so they DC because they're mad at such "an OP perk". Is extreme camping and tunneling bad? Of course. But I've had more numerous experiences with DC's and 1st Hook Suicides as a Killer and and a Survivor than I have gotten camped or tunneled to death.

Should PLAYERS, not Killers, be given bonuses for players DCing? They've already included the Abandoned BP gain in match but that isn't enough to make up for the now titled match everyone is forced to play. 600+ BP gain from someone raging isn't going to make up for the amount of time I waited for a lobby to start just to have someone immediately rage quit the game because something didn't go their way.

Thanks for holding down the fort, I agree with your points

  • ah yes I see them perks

You mean if you bring an ebony mori and tunnel mori people? Yeah, they probably will...or at least 1st hook suicide.

I have played this game for 3 years now and can count on my hands the number of DCs I've gotten when playing killer.

Will you always (even with penalty) have people who DC because they were downed right away or they hate a particular killer or they hate a particular map...sometimes, yeah. But the VAST majority of DC's I see are usually because the Killer themselves are purposely making the game miserable and they want out. And the DCs that follow are usually either people leaving in solidarity or simply because it's no fun to play with a short team and sweaty killer.

And yes, everyone should play to some level of societal expectation. Its how literal life works. Is it a rule to be nice to people IRL? No. You can be a flaming ######### to people anytime you want (the proverbial you, not YOU you). Its within the "rules" as long as you arent assaulting people or breaking a noise ordinance. Do MOST people still conduct themselves in a kind, empathetic manner toward others? Yeah, they do. Because as a society this is part of our social contract. I dont know why people think that stops as soon as they are on the internet, but it doesn't.

I will acknowledge that yes it is the killer sometimes, but I would say killers also have to deal with alot of the commonly played survivor stuff and from my experience they sit through the game and dont D/C. Sometimes killers are “sweaty” in high ranks but that shouldnt mean survivors have to insta d/c

I disagree. This "lost of control that results in killing" is not a slashers trope. It's way more common in monster movies, like...almost every werewolf movie, jekil and hyde...

It happens in slashers, but it's rare. Because usually, the person suffering from it is the protagonist, and the killers in slasher movies are rarely the protagonists.

Silent night, deadly night being one such case.

So I very much disagree that fits of killing rage make rin a slasher.

And in her case, coming back from the dead wanting revenge aren't slashers thing either. It happens, like freddy.

But it's a vengeful spirit movie, their own genre. Like several japanese movies. Like ringu and one that I forgot the name... but in it the spirit of a girl comes back to kill everyone that raped/killed her. Besides the main guy, who didn't help her when he could but she likes him. I think it's just called spirits...but I'm not sure.

So, sorry. But you didn't convince me of rin being a slasher.

Pamela is certainly a slasher, but she is insane. The people she is killing have nothing to do with what happened to jason. I wouldn't call it a revenge movie.

In the case of jason, only the 1st kill of the second movie fits the revenge thing. Most of the time, he's just hunting people that are somewhat close to where he is. No real reason behind it.

I do think jeff the killer would fit, and slenderman too.

But, they fail at a very important point that fnaf succeds at.

    They aren't famous.

Jeff and slender are incredibly niche. While fnaf is super well known.

Fnaf would bring a ton of players to the game, slender maybe a couple hundred, jeff...maybe 10?

Actually slender is pretty famous id say

Unfortunately i very rarely get actually good teammates. Most of the time they play pretty bad :(

The good ol team game syndrome, teammates are never good when you get em

  • Did they all die on cage or did you PH mori them all, I thought cage gave hook points and sacrifice points. If you PH moried them all that explains it though, that always has been the trade off with mori-ing

Heck i seen people dc due to being the first one down or being the first one hooked. It's like ok, the killer is walking away from the hook and you just die on hook, why? Which i see it alot as solo survivor. Someone will dc near the start of the match or kill themselves on hook. Screwing over everyone else, survivor and killer alike.

Yeah, usually d/cs arent even the killers fault

Yeah that's what i don't get about the devs saying his power is underestimated. I don't really think it is especially compared to doctor but even if it was fantastic it would still be one of the simplest powers in dbd, that's the problem people have with him.

I personally think a totally doable rework would be to change his add ons to change the effects of his gas. I'm not really too big on add ons in general but it would make so much sense with him

Honestly the biggest clown rework that should happen is not making clown become a slug when hes reloading so slots dont have to be committed to fixing his weaknesses rather than playing on strengths. Clowns add on set is decent, there are better. There could be gasses of different effects which could be a cool rework

People will DC if you bring a Killer or an offering they don't like. It's not even playstyle half the time. And if I get a DC that wasn't based on my choice of Killer, I get a DC for something in match that put the Survivor at a disadvantage. No one should be playing to the other's expectation other than playing the game within the rules and way it was designed.

Seems like we had the same idea, I agree

  • @LALYTHIA said:

Don't play in a way that makes people want to face a penalty more than play a match with you and you'll be fine. :)

People will D/C just because they see your playing Pyramid Head or Leatherface or if you get an early hook or if the game goes south quickly. Its more than just playing in an annoying way, sometimes survivors just hit that early leave button and even though the killer hasnt done much yet, and a killer shouldnt be discouraged cause they play X killer.

  • @Desh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1374213#Comment_1374213

Because why would they? Getting 2 D/C's gives you a time penalty. And no one wants to sit around and wait for the penalty to go away just to sit and search for a lobby for another 5-10 minutes.

Pretty much, D/Cs are still D/Cs and people are penalized for them. If the earlier person is making is that people can be boosted through this strategy, there are probably far better ways to boost.

  • @JimPickens said:

Like you said Clown is already a joke, just not a very funny one.

How can a CLOWN be the most boring killer?

facts, its not just that hes bad, I also think hes just as boring to play as leatherface, my other least favorite killer to play in dbd.

I think the only buff he needs is his ranged attack inflicting torment.

The cages are good not just for avoiding survivor perks but for separating teammates and forcing them to make time comsuming trips across the map.

His trail forces survivors to crouch around them, buying you time like hag traps in a way

I admit the usefulness of the cages and rites of judgment are situational, but if used tactically then they can waste a lot of time on the survivors end. Don't forget he is still a 115 killer that can basic attack and make hooks.

I think the range attack inflicts torment but not the hit that downs you.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1374078#Comment_1374078

Yeah, the devs need to increase the DC penalty. Maybe 10 minutes for the first DC, then it doubles every DC and you need to play 1 game without DCing per "level". So if you're at 10 minutes, you have to play one game, 20 minutes you have to play 2, and so on.

the required game is a good idea but I dont think that stops survivors from hitting that close application button.

    @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1374089#Comment_1374089

Same. I edited in this bit after you replied, BTW: No more "resets after X amount of time", you have to actually show that you're going to stop being a bad teammate.

Of course, this would require that the game be more stable, due to the reported crashes. The goal isn't to punish those who are having problems.

This is also pretty true, the servers just arent stable and it would suck to punish players with real problems.

also do survivors get a d/c bonus, I dont really know

A down =/= a gen. You are comparing apples to oranges. Either way, here is a list of some passive effect perks AND built-in mechanics that reward you for simply playing your role.

    Perks:

    • Corrupt Intervention: Literally blocks gens from being repaired at all.

    • Ruin: Literally regresses the generator that you were working on if killer engages a chase.

    • Rancor: Literally gives you a free kill whether you have hooked that person or not.

    Built-In Mechanics:

    • Camping: Leave the hook and go pressure another survivor? Nah. Stick around and get a free down on the person who is already wounded. In fact down them but also use the mechanic below and get you a second survivor on the ground as well. Rinse/Repeat.

    • Slugging: You can virtually force survivors to abort their main objective, and create enough free pressure by simply leaving someone on the floor. Oh and not to mention it counters an entire perk. So you hit two birds with one stone.

    • Bloodlust : Even in the most unsafe areas this built-in passive effect procs. So if a survivor is 'out-playing' you, and you keep whiffing, it doesn't matter, your next swing will reach a hit that you wouldn't have otherwise hit.

Oh, and the best part about these? You don't slot anything to gain them. You simply have to exist as a killer.

    You're welcome.

Some of the things you mentioned are imperfect strategys. Say I start slugging and then run to the next survivor, a third survivor can just pick up the survivor a chose to down, thereby completely missing a hook oppurtunity.

Bloodlust hardly ever gives value, ive seen bloodlust give value maybe like twice in the several months ive experienced of DBD.

Camping is powerful, in a vacuum, if you are persistent enough you can kill one survivor. However the problem with that is the same problem with choosing to chase a survivor on a loop for several minutes. Each minute that you are wasting time on securing a kill, that is a likely another completed gen.

Ruin is a hex and the new survivor perk has significantly weakened the power of hexes. Not to mention that Ruin gives no value if you commit to finishing a gen.

  • yeah you can get better, especially as killer when you start making more on the fly correct decisions. “Gitting gud” is only one half of the battle, getting strong perks is also really important

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1373955#Comment_1373955

Yeah, this game could use it. I think it'd make a good new character though, no point in updating the current sexy Clown.

Yeah a new killer could be interesting with common jokes slapped on them, maybe noise traps that give away locations of the survivor like woopy cushions and buzzers, the pie idea someone gave earlier could also be a thing. Im perfectly ok with keeping our sexy clown too

  • As an observer of the dbd scene, even when I watch doc he does seem pretty annoying but didnt bhvr make him with the intention to be a very annoying killer. Though hes also a very different killer and that should be OK.

  • thats pretty much why I played around with the idea, to give a change of pace

  • I would like the new pyramid head map if it was not extremely dark, I can get around everything else though. I really like hawkins, I dont know why though.

  • @Poweas said:

    I would love this.

Im sure alot of people would just like a good fun joke character

  • I also thank you, I remember one of the first things that I thought when I heard of dead by daylight “yo springtrap would be kind of cool if he was ever added to dbd”. Its sad to me that the idea is simply frowned upon because its fnaf and nothing else. The only possible problem I ever thought of was that its weird to think of his perks and power but you made it work.

  • i wouldnt say its that killers are toxic, id say they are tired. I play with someone who would first hook mori if hes running moris, not because hes toxic, he almost never runs moris, but instead its a result of a bad day where he find like 4 swfs in a row or is getting flashlighted or teabagged all day. Is it toxic to try to bite back or lash out if your experience has been really bad today, I dont think so.

  • I understand the idea of not trying to destroy the clowns lore. Thats why I also offer the idea of a new similar killer being The Jester or maybe The Freak that really drills in the joke aesthetic. Though its not like bhvr hasnt been opposed to doing joke things with clown in the past, as we see with the elephant skin.

Though to try to play this into the lore, the sort of joke act could be the way that the clown lure you into the false clown act to cut off your fingers. I feel like theres a way to make this work out.

More important I unironically feel like this kind of joke killer, even if its against the DBD aesthetic, alot of people would actually have a far better experience either having fun with a joke killer, and I imagine survivors would like to play against some joke killer.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

    Maybe for april fools

  • Arent you already punished for facecamping by cutting bloodpoint gain.

I didnt think of that, probably when nobody is in the basement the hooks would spin but when someone approaches the hooks it would stop spinning
