What the "data" we have show that from rank20 to 11 the survival rate is less than 50 % from 10 to 2 we have 50-60% and at rank 1 we have 80%

@DarkGGhost you're totally right that survival rates aren't 50% everywhere but the rank 1 statistic is honestly completely worthless. The rank people have for the stats was recorded AFTER the game, and what usually happens when people die in rank 1? They depip back down to rank 2 and hence become part of the rank 10-2 statistic.

  • Better yet just teleport the bodies of disconnecting survivors to a basement hook. Gives a BBQ stack, hook points and lets other survivors know where they "died" if they held an item or something. And since they don't die instantly (gotta go through the animation) it hinders the "dc to give my buddy the hatch" thing too.

  • A higher chance of actually getting to play the Legion without 3 people disconnecting the femtosecond you inflict deep wound on someone.

  • @tt_ivi_99 said:

You just lost all credibility when you complained about Ruin, "killer main."

@@tt_ivi_99 Come on, it was about getting other survivors that refuse to work through it no matter what. That stuff IS obnoxious as hell.

  • "Legion = DC" is a legitimate meme. Not as in "funny internet meme picture", but the actual original definition that describes an idea/behavior and such that spreads within a community/culture and becomes ingrained into people's brains.

I'm sure it will fade with time as people realize Legion isn't the same killer as they used to be but it'll take some time I bet.

  • It's just people catching on to the fact that if they are not actively being chased, going for a save, looking for a hex totem or anything else reasonably urgent they should be on a gen instead of doing... who knows, I guess crouching in a corner somewhere or crouching near a hook while the killer is camping or something? And more and more people are actually willing to just work through Ruin, and as a result become better at skillchecks.

It's like how actual OG infinites didn't become a big problem before people became experienced enough to realize they existed (things were fine when no one really knew what they were doing). With time people only refine their strategy. Just like stuff like Legion moonwalking became more and more known and complained about over time until it reached critical mass.

I guess run NOED until mercilessly hunting down dull totems becomes something everyone does as well. I still see people calling others useless for doing it so it's not like everyone has figured that one out yet.

  • Just chase them out or go to the basement and tab out for 2 minutes so EGC chases them out?

  • Him having the mobility AND instadown his chainsaw offers makes for quite a stacked kit for sure.

IF they were to touch him I wish they just buffed Leatherface's chainsaw to be more threatening so he could be the instadown chainsaw man while Billy could be the mobile chainsaw man. Because Bubba needs some love 😥

  • According to the patch notes they fixed it.

There's certainly proof that they looked at their code, as unlike before the mending bar is actually red now if a Legion uses either of the blades. It didn't before! And I don't think anything else slows mending?

  • @FSB75 said:

"Anit-tunneling"? Tunneling is an acceptable aspect of the game.

@FSB75 doesn't mean there's anything wrong with having things that counter it.

Stealth is an acceptable way to play as well yet whispers, doctor and other detection perks exist. Slugging is an acceptable way to play yet unbreakable, tenacity, flip flop and more exists, while deerstalker and knockout does at the same time.

Absolutely nothing wrong with situational tools that buff/nerf specific tactics, and such tools should do their job unless countered by another situational tool.

Not too sure if DS needs scratch marks being hidden though, already gives the survivor a decent head start. If anything it would be cool to make Dance with Me activate on killer grasp escapes to have it as an option but not a base feature.

  • It's mostly how it interacts with other mechanics and perks that allow for silly situations, like instaheals or 99% healing bar.

I learned the other day that getting hit actually DOESN'T reset your healing progress if you tank the hit with MoM. So you can 99% your heal, dead hard while still injured, tank a hit and immediately finish the heal in a split second. And then you might have an instaheal for the next time you get hit (even though a smart killer would probably leave you after you heal up as they can just find you later with the aura reading until you've been downed)

Eh, I feel it would sort of make sense if the perk made you Broken for a minute or something after using it just to prevent stacking it with 99% heals or instaheals (unless the instaheal is used prior to tanking a hit with MoM anyway). Just make something up about being so damn determined to live that you keep going despite being nearly fatally wounded and as a result you can't just heal yourself. And make getting hit with MoM active reset the healing bar as well as you still got HIT, so surely there's some new wounds to heal.

  • You know when I think about it this would've been the perfect time to incorporate a cypress mori-like mechanic into the killer's base kit.

But it's not a mori. If EGC is active they should be able to interact with a the last survivor in dying state to immediately make the entity sacrifice them if they want. Sure there's unlikely edge cases like active DS getting screwed over by this but I doubt that'd be very common and at that point it probably doesn't matter too much anyway.

  • Just like with old-fashioned bleedout, if it seems like the killer has genuinely lost you and just gone afk to let you bleed or they're one of the rare killers that do it to "troll" or whatever... just go afk yourself for ~4 minutes. Get something to drink, tab out and browse the forums or something.

Once people have checked out the animation I doubt it'll be any more common than letting people bleed out the normal way.

  • I personally do it for a few specific reasons

    1. To give the other remaining survivor a shot at the hatch
    2. To get out of a garbage game. And by that I mean something like 2 people disconnecting very early for whatever dumb reason. Sorry but better luck next game to whoever remains and the killer, some matches are just not worth it.
    3. If I'm being camped and every other survivor crouch around the hook instead of doing gens. Sorry, but every second I spend looking at that shitshow I lose braincells and I'm not dealing with that
  • The power play is to last second switch into default Dwight.

  • Survivors don't even have to actively hunt down totems. Check the immediate area you spawn in and break any you see there, ESPECIALLY if it's a corner spawn on a Swamp map or something else out of the way/unlikely to be stumbled upon. After that just take the time to break totems while going between gens.

If all survivors did something as simple as that NOED would get disabled so often that the perk would probably lose a lot of appeal. But I guess it's easier to refuse to do it and just type "noed noob -.-" in postgame chat or something. Hell, I've seen survivors ######### talk other survivors because they saw them break a dull totem, even straight up sandbag them a handful of times.

  • Just disable collision for both killers and survivor if they remain stationary/in the same immediate area for a certain amount of time. Make it like 30 seconds BEFORE THE EGC for killers so they can wait out BT but can't just block 2 people in the basement with 5 gens up and go afk and get 2 kills for it, and honestly I don't mind making it 2 minutes or something during the EGC as the game will end at that point anyway.

And for survivors? It could be like 20, 15 or even 10 seconds. When does a survivor need to retain their collision for longer than that? To be an "epic memer" and block other survivors in corners, that's when, which is griefing. When bodyblocking for someone being carried by the killer they will be moving around anyway so it won't have an impact there.

  • @Boss if you down them you won't see their aura fyi even if they get picked up and healed

"Mettle Of Man will deactivate the next time you are put into the Dying State". Simply getting knocked down after tanking a hit with it completely deactivates the perk including the aura portion of it.

And on the general topic I'd rather not potentially throw the game just because someone might have a perk. Most of the time obsessions are just the result of some other survivor running DS in my experience, don't see nearly enough MoM to automatically assume obsession = MoM

  • @Kilmeran said:

Doesn't matter if folks have more than two friends. Behavior decided to make the only mode a Ranked mode, so it's time they started treating it as such, instead of an off-the-cuff Quick Play mode.

Other games I play cap pre-made groups at 2 or 3 in Ranked mode. Got more friends than that? Don't play Ranked together.

Oh . . . wait . . . the genius design on this game only has this one mode. Great job there, Behavior. Is it any wonder people call Rank here a joke?

@Kilmeran games that limit party sizes at higher ranks/in ranked in general usually have actual rewards for reaching high ranks or at the end of season based on your placement. Like Paladins for example, where if you play enough games you get a loading screen frame based on your highest rank in the season as one example. DBD has nothing like that.

The "ranked" aspect is a matchmaking variable and absolutely nothing else.

  • No, you can farm if you want as long as you don't farm "at their expense".

Like making an "alliance" with a survivor that just farms everyone else to death or something like that.

  • You can do this with add-ons, pretty much.

Speed Limiter Leatherface to be the purest M1 killer that ever lived.

And if your desire for frustration approaches masochistic levels and you're willing to blow big boy add-ons to get your fix, "Burger King" Myers (Tombstone + Vanity mirror)

  • At the moment I run Ace in the Hole + Plunderer's to harvest those juicy items.

Was running bond + iron will in the remaining slots as well but with 2x BP I tend to swap out one or the other for WGLF.

  • I mean it wouldn't really have an impact on me as I rarely bring items, but I feel the primary point of Franklin's is to make them drop it and potentially go out of their way to pick it up again as opposed to actually draining/breaking the item. That's Overwhelming Presence's thing, even though that is currently a very underwhelming perk that could use some love for sure.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

@Orion How do you want them to take it easy exactly? Short of helping a killer farm some points I don't see how it can be done. I personally wouldn't want them to simply let me kill them. When I'm a survivor and there's multiple DC's all I hope for is the killer is cool enough to let me safety. They can kill me I have no issue with that.

@thrawn3054 I have actually seen survivors give a killer a kill when it could have been a 4x escape. Some guy just walking up to a hook and pointing at it. Sure it might have "selfish" motivations like preventing a pip, but I guess it's roughly equivalent to a killer giving a survivor the hatch.

By NO means saying it's common however, and it's as said a sort of free-hatch equivalent, but I have seen it happen (and done it myself) 😂

  • Besides the fact assymetrical games are incredibly hard to balance and makes the very definition of balance harder to nail, you're not wrong. There's a lot of incredibly biased people on both sides in this community.

My favorite is when someone makes a completely fair arguement where they point out that using everything (that isn't straight up against the rules of course) to win is fine, aka a simple competitive mindset... and in the very same post whine about the other side doing the same thing in return.

  • Action speed is fine, movement speed is not for multiple reasons. 5% MS is the difference between chasing someone as Trapper or something and doing it as a Huntress that's all out of hatchets. And anyone that has tried finishing a chase like that knows it can be a painful experience, 5% is substantial in DBD.

And as someone already mentioned, no matter what your stance on tunneling is this certainly wouldn't help.

  • @FSB75 said:

MoM is becoming more popular. When I see it proc, it's not a big deal. Go hit them again.

My ONLY complaint is that it ignores insta downs for Bubba and Billy. Does MoM ignore the "exposed" status effect?

@FSB75 ANY damage that would make the survivor go from injured to dying is negated once it's activated. M1 hits, instadown abilities, exposed status - you name it. It does NOT work if they are healthy however, so it doesn't matter if they have the perk activated if you hit them with anything that makes them go from healthy directly to dying.

The aura reading part is quite specific too. It only becomes a problem if they tank a hit with MoM, escape the chase and heal up without going down. They can heal up just fine after being downed past the point they negate a hit with the perk.

  • Has to be a time I was just doing a Leatherface daily. All I wanted to do was get my 4 chainsaws and chase the survivors around until the end of the game, and my perks were like bbq 1, knock out 2, noed 2 and iron grasp 1.

All 4 were alive as the gates were powered and I found an injured claudette near an almost open gate and gave her the hammer. She immediately disconnected and the other 3 got out after a bit more chasing.

Claudette was still there and went on about how much of a scrub I was for "using noed on an instadown killer" (the best part is that this was when Noed 1-2 didn't even instadown), and it moved on to her being quite threatening by saying stuff like "I know powerful people", "enjoy being on my big group's mori and sandbag list" and "you can say byebye to your account in a week ez".

This was like 7 months ago? Still waiting to say byebye to my account, Claudette 😂

  • More and more survivors realize they should just do gens if someone is being camped, and if enough realize it that will essentially make mindless camping a completely pointless strategy unless the killer didn't care about that in the first place and just wanted to camp.

If you want to be practically guaranteed an extra shot at life run deliverance + decisive strike and do your best to not get hooked first/get a safe unhook. Sure the killer can just go after you again but at least it lets you do something else than 1 chase + dying on the hook in the worst case scenarios.

  • Brilliant idea, totally won't make casual SWF players annoyed they can't fool around with friends and just make the actual hardcore teams queue-snipe eachother like early in DBD or anything /s

The only outcome this would have would be a drastic increase in survivors leaving lobbies, driving up queue times for everyone that plays the game.

  • Great idea. Entity gets some extra snacks, and the great animation gets to be put to use more often as well.

  • Borrowed Time and Whispers

BT because I'll happily sacrifice myself to let someone else escape. Whispers because it can save so much time when searching for survivors.

Bond comes close as well, but I sometimes take it off when I want to have a neverending medkit with self care + botany knowledge.

  • Feeling that I outsmarted my opponent, "big brain" moments you could say.

It can be winning mindgames as killer or survivor, or my absolute favorite - narrowly escaping a chase. Having the killer lose you and narrowly avoiding being discovered again, having several close calls as the killer searches the area and then finally gives up and looks for someone else to chase is great.

  • All Nurse needs is some add-on changes.

At the very least give range extenders an actual downside that matters. But she also has a lot of weird and underused add-ons that could be turned into something more fun, like how they changed Trapper's old collection of anti-sabo ones.

  • The experiment did prove that skilled survivors hardcore focusing on the objective is something the balance of the game simply doesn't take into account at all.

People took the results and represented teams like that as way more common than they are though, spreading accidental misinformation at best and knowingly spreading disinformation at worst. Balancing the game around survivors doing what Marth and his boys did is like balancing the game around killers all being top 1% nurse mains running omegablink ebony mori every game as it's essentially the survivor equivalent.

  • It removes hatch standoffs and gives killers a way to speed up the end of the game, or even straight up "concede" if they want to.

Ever just had enough as survivors genuinely go back into the map to loop with the gates open? Or think it's hilarious to play hide and seek? Just go afk, get something to drink or anything else that takes 3+ minutes, and when you come back you're guaranteed to be ready to start a new game.

  • Just make both killers and survivors lose collision after a decent amount of time has been spent stationary/in the same immediate area. Make it like somewhere between 30 second and a minute so killers can still block basement to counter borrowed time.

For survivors NOTHING of value is lost. When do you need 30+ seconds of consecutive collision as survivor? Exactly, to bodyblock other survivors in corners or exploit vs the killer if new spots like the old harvester exploit are discovered. Wouldn't hurt them at all.

And the only real tactics it would destroy as killer would be crouch-blocking a survivor with a trap as Pig, as well as blocking people in the basement for the exact reason OP specified (or to genuinely take the game hostage by blocking all 4 down there or something)

I'm all for the basement being a dangerous and risky place to go, but it rubs me the wrong way that a killer can just go afk with 3 survivors trapped and get 3 kills if the last survivor opens a gate, that's just silly.

  • Mostly acting like a dingus in endgame chat.

Other than that there's some specific actions that have no tactical benefits whatsoever, like just standing on a slug until they bleed out when they're the last one and they're laying right under a hook or something, that's just pointless griefing. And abusing exploits of course, be it stuff like the Legion blade addon one or exploits that trap the killer in place and basically force them to DC, as well as survivors sandbagging other survivors on purpose by blocking them in corners or something.

  • Oak Haft and the other brown quality one for huntress. The ones that makes you put your hatchet away faster if you cancel a throw/get back to M1 mode faster after you throw one.

Not only can you whip them out and put them away with minimal slowdown, but it makes the already fast melee hatchet combo lightning fast.

  • I mean I like the idea and all, but the core problem is that if people can't DC and they really want to, they will just run to the killer, get hooked and suicide on their first hook instead.

And considering this is sometimes an actual tactically sound choice (to give someone else a shot at the hatch for example) it can't really be punished in any way I can think of.

  • Twice, one time was a survivor that gave up (5 gens still needed, the other remaining survivor that unhooked them disconnected after being downed) and the other was a genuinely smart play where a recently unhooked player went for a save while still having DS active.

  • Balanced Landing is the only exhaustion perk that does something for you even while exhausted. The landing stagger reduction is actually really useful on its own, and it means you could more freely run it with a second exhaustion perk and have a surprise in store. Surely the survivor that used balanced landing earlier won't have dead hard, right? 😃

If the killer has Thrill of the Hunt PLEASE cleanse any dull totems you see. It makes the cleansing time penalty less severe and might be the difference between getting rid of that well-protected totem or not later on. Honestly just cleanse dull totems if you see them regardless, no need to actively hunt them but better safe than sorry.

If you're working on a generator with Hex: Ruin and you miss a skillcheck, let go of M1 and just stand there for 2 seconds or so. During that time you can't put more progress into the generator, but you can get more skillchecks and chain-regress the generator.

If you have distortion and the killer has nurse's calling you can heal for a second during a chase to lose scratchmarks for 10 seconds to help you lose them. Combine that with iron will on a map like Lery's and it's an extremely situational but very unexpected little trick.

And I don't know how the addons interact on flashlights, but as a fan of the yellow abdominal dressing + gel dressing medkit with self care and botany knowledge, I'm pretty sure on medkits it does the math in the order of the items and addons.

    Medkit + abdominal + gel dressings is (16 - 25%) + 16 = 28 charges

    Medkit + gel dressings + abdominal is (16 + 16) - 25% = 24 charges

  • @GrootDude said:

If they’re slug camping you then the perk is doing it’s job and wasting the killers time.

    This right here.

It's like juggling the obsession pre-nerf. Sure you don't get to stab the killer, but they still waste time and open themselves up to several potential flashlight saves or a single bodyblock that forces them to either M1 and risk getting stabbed, or drop and potentially make the survivor unhookable due to it being 3rd/4th drop.

If people actually start just hovering around people for 60 seconds just bring unbreakable, crawl close-ish to a pallet/window and pick yourself up. Or even tenacity and just take them on a merry journey far away from the other survivors.

  • Streamsniping is inherently impossible to conclusively prove unless the sniper themselves also stream themselves doing it, or they confess to doing it. Trying to "prove" it based on "evidence" is not a path you want to go, just look at controversies like PUBG punishing people for it or the infamous Ninja rage in Fortnite.

Streamers have the ability to make it far less likely to happen anyway. Use an alias and don't put their url as their actual name on steam for starters.

  • There's always some people doing stuff like turbo "tryhard" nurse, skillcheck doc with The Game offering or BasementFace on the PTB. Just suicide on the hook if you really want, no one will blame you.

  • Anything that's annoying and gives you no benefit at all is pretty lame and I guess toxic.

So like slugging the last survivor in a game with no obsession and just letting them bleed until they're 1 sec from dying, then hooking them for example.

  • Buffing and reworking is always recieved more positively than nerfing, they learned that much with Freddy.

It's a completely wasted perk slot for anyone who chooses to run it, I don't personally run it but watching streams and seeing people have it and nothing happen all game, why run it? For the occasional try to tunnel you to death killer? if he's even half worth anything he will think to run enduring with that strategy and just smack you right back down since it's only a 1 second stun at that point

It's just more like Unbreakable as opposed to an always useful perk now.

Just like unbreakable it can be a gamechanger if you actually get to use it, but you're not guaranteed to get a chance to use it and it's not guaranteed to do much. If you DS with nothing to protect you nearby you won't get much value, just like picking yourself up with UB in front of the killer will just get you smacked back onto the ground.

Wait, are you ######### kidding me? Like, they cant if its lag switch or legit lag, or you mean they really just dont care?

I saw they wont ban for streamsniping, which is absolutely cheating, but this too seems unreal.

The thing with lagswitching and streamsniping is that it's pretty much impossible to prove with 100% certainty unless the player straight up admits it.

As unlikely as it is someone's connection might have hiccups at only times convenient to them (like rubberbanding a survivor back through a pallet into a hit, for example), and with streamsniping it could just be an unlikely but possible series of events that makes it seem like streamsniping.

Streamsniping in particular has been proven to lead to a lot of drama in games where it's bannable, with streamers crying streamsniper when it's not the case at all.

People with really poor connection quality shouldn't be allowed to host in p2p games in the first place though. Call it unfair or whatever, but it ruins the game for everyone else involved, at least in DBD dedicated servers are coming which should mitigate the old McDonalds WiFi killer issue.

  • P3 Claudettes are well aware of the power they have, they WILL try to just crouch in a corner and it'll probably work as often as it doesn't.

Nea in general is a gamble. Either gonna chase the killer with empathy and a flashlight, or urban evade in a corner while 3 people are slugged. 99% guaranteed to have Balanced Landing though.

This one is weird, but if a Quentin brings a medkit it's like a 75% chance it's an instaheal of some sort. No idea why, but it's weirdly enough a thing in my experience.

Legacy Hillbillies are usually bored to tears by the usual tuning guide + primer bulb/thompson mix combo, they often run turning addons and chainsaw you by swinging around loops, hitting you when you thought it was impossible in my experience.

Wolf mask Huntresses seem more likely to fall victim to the "huntress rage" pitfall where they miss all their hatchets and keep chasing for several gens, then (face)camp the survivor when they eventually catch them.
