Getting Iron Will broke was huge surprise to me in first match after patch as survivor and against Spirit. I did my usual juke and guess what? Instadown, cause Jeff is loud AF while injured, and Iron Will just wasnt working.

I have no idea either how devs can constantly ######### up things they dont even touch in current patch. I've been programming myself in past, and that's just sign of incompetence, stop hiring Indians outsourcerers for 9 bucks/hours, you'll end up as Boeing!

    Edit: spelling

    Did the Spirit have Stridor?

Stridor genuinely just increases the volume of injured noises/breathing for EVERYONE in the game. If you have iron will 3 and you can hear yourself injured, that means the killer has Stridor.

  • Not a perk, but I feel it should be built into the emblem system that it's worth extra Chaser points or something to get in a new chase while someone is on the hook as you are keeping more people busy that way (note how this is a REWARD as opposed to a PUNISHMENT). A BP modifier for taking offensive actions against survivors while someone's on a hook elsewhere would be a fun incentive too, higher the more people that are hooked. Make it last for X amount of time no matter if they get unhooked to avoid insta-unhooks robbing the killer if they're already on the way to someone else.

Something similar could maybe work for cycling who you put on the hook? Some sort of "Savior Caught" bonus to Malicious or something, as well as again perhaps something similar to the 1st hook "Caught" score event if you avoid hooking the same person twice in a row.

Anything beyond incentives might be a bit harsh, some people will camp/tunnel even when it's a terrible decision tactically anyway (like mindlessly hard camping even after 3 gens pop in unison, or rage-tunneling someone as Huntress without reloading) or for straight up schadenfraude, and that won't change.

I really wouldn't want such "solutions" to be perks to be honest, I'd rather see less of the "fix issues with perks/powers" approach.

  • It's competitive in the way that there's winners and losers.

It's by no means a game it makes any sense to take as "competitive" in the same way as esports-oriented games. Going into it with that sort of mindset is just setting yourself up for pointless frustration.

  • Sure if you want to be technical she is fundementally broken as her skill ceiling is in outer space, but with some practice it's still fun and very different to play against her in my opinion. I guess if someone has a very binary "escape/4k = fun, anything else = not fun" mindset she wouldn't be fun to face though lmao.

I feel the +range add-ons could either have the absolute joke that is """blink accuracy""" replaced with a charge speed malus, or they could instead let them increase the charge cap so you could charge for longer to reach what would basically be 150% charge or something instead of 100%. Make it a tool the Nurse has available to close a big gap or navigate the map instead of something that will ALWAYS help to some extent you by giving you extra range (and indirectly faster charge speed as a result) no matter if you charge your blink 15% or 100%

I feel she has a lot of very underused add-ons that could get new effects to be more interesting and appealing too. I don't even know their names or what they could do, but could be interesting to see what they'd come up with.

We're comparing it to an older bug which killers got banned for. If they don't ban for this one, then it's obviously going to be bias. And from the way things are looking, survivors aren't gonna get anything.

@Redcum I'm aware, I guess I'm just fed up with people that seem to genuinely, seriously, unironically think they will make an announcement saying "Killers using blade bug 2.0 or any other bugs will get banned! Survivors using Wake Up! will not be punished though" Obviously if they'll ban for either, they'll ban for both.

  • I honestly thought it was common knowledge that just because you paid for something it can be changed if needed when it's a balance issue in a multiplayer game.

Just imagine if for some obscure reason it wasn't allowed, guess we'd still have DS 1.0 with everyone getting insta-DS obsession or not πŸ˜„

  • Meanwhile I've seen a singular survivor use it in red ranks, both as killer and survivor myself. Guess you're unlucky.

And whoever honestly believes they will come out and say they'll ban killers using bugs and omit survivors - get your victim complexes in check or quit the game before it drains more of your emotional energy to be perpetually mad. They'll either warn EVERYONE or warn no one and fix it as soon as they can, if you honestly believe they'll do anything else I don't even know what more to tell you.

  • It should be first come first serve with no exceptions in a perfect world with no latency, whoever does their interaction first should win every single time.

So no, keep hatch interrupts out.

  • If you want anything else than either the often mentioned buff solos -> buff killers that need it approach or bonuses to the killer (like extra bloodpoints and such) please just do yourself a favor and find another game to play. You're just gonna keep getting frustrated at something that won't change the way you want it to, punishing people for playing with friends is an awful idea.

DBD isn't an esports title pursuing "perfect" balance, and it shouldn't be. Some games there's SWF, some games there's instaheals or whatever. Some games it's a perkless Freddy, some games it's a 4000 hour nurse with omegablink + ebony mori. It's just how the game is.

  • And also remember that when the Legion bug happened the Legion in general was already right in the middle of a spicy controversy over their own existance and design, it makes sense it was acted on quickly from a pure PR perspective.

People shouldn't use Wake Up! while bugged, I wish they could just disable the perk until it's fixed, but I guess it's not that easy.

A lot of the people crying about double standards have massive unwarranted victim complexes in general anyway.

  • I honestly don't know, but I assume it should be easier for them as it's less common than it used to (so less wait time) and they obviously have the saves in the cloud and hopefully some backups. Good luck man πŸ˜₯

    in Question Comment by Jesp
  • No, if there's an obsession just assume everyone has it and play accordingly. Slug the unhooked and chase the unhooker, let them go and pick up the slug if they want them back in the game and continue as usual, it's still pressure and chase + slug is a very strong situation in itself. 90% of the time people trying to use the immunity time on purpose make it so obvious that a braindead monkey could see it coming.

And legitimately crying about it because "tunneling shouldn't be punished because it's a tactic" is just insanely entitled and pathetic, just throwing that one out there.

  • If every survivor just broke totems they randomly saw on their ways between gens/unhooks NOED would basically never activate outside of maps with totem spots far out of the way like the Swamp.

On some maps you don't even have to use your brain to find them. Like on autohaven just check between the tires in TL-wall loops and you'll probably find 3-4 of the totems.

I understand it sucks to get clipped by NOED for your first hook and then camped, but it doesn't matter. Just like killers that get straight up furious if they don't 4k should quit the game for their own sake, survivors shouldn't under any circumstance expect to escape until they've run past the barrier.

  • Record it with shadowplay or something if you have it and send a support ticket with the video, I'm like 99% sure I got someone banned this way as I reported them and when I checked their profile a while later they had written they were banned and linked their new account there πŸ˜„

It's possible their connection was just garbage and unreliable, but if the connection is flawless and suddenly everyone runs against a wall and then you teleport onto their shoulder... yeah that's quite convenient isn't it. Report it and let them review it, I'm sure they have information that helps them determine if it really was a super-unlikely lagspike or foul play.

At least it'll be a thing of the past when dedicated servers become a thing.

  • That is indeed the right way to do it, punishing people for playing SWF is an idiotic path that shouldn't be pursued no matter what . Somewhat off-topic but the same mentality should be applied to camping to be fair, like giving the killer 1 minute of a BP modifier when hooking someone to make it tempting to go do other stuff if possible, not punish it and especially not with pointless rank punishments.

No killer aura though, built-in kindred + chase indicator + totem counter would do wonders on its own as it'd stop the solo death spiral of "everyone races eachother for the unhook all the time", as well as the opposite "everyone assumes someone else is going for the unhook".

  • Just do gens and try to signal they're camping. If they truly deactivate their brain and hard camp with 5 gens up or something they're throwing away so much potential pressure and more often than not they can hope for 2 kills at absolute most.

And if they are ascended enough to do that AND complain about gen rush at the same time in end game chat please mock them as in that case they're a gigantic idiot.

  • It's fine, really the perfect one-use perk if you ask me as it actually requires something objective-based. It actually feels like a reward.

And I heavily disagree with the people that want it to get wasted if the survivor is hooked/being carried. Considering it's a one-time perk it should activate no matter what if the conditions it requires are met, they could change its functionality to not activate on premature EGC activation, just like Bitter Murmur.

  • Tunneling if something like a bad unhook happens and you can freely pick between the unhooked person and the unhooker just makes sense. Turning off your brain and doing ascended ######### like trying to squeeze past bodyblockers with 5 gens still up instead of hitting them, picking up DS bait so obvious a monkey in a coma could see it coming and going full caveman rage and trying to bloodlust completely safe pallets does not make sense.

Camping if gates are open or everyone is obviously crouching around the hook makes sense. Hard camping with 5 gens and continuing to do it when 3 gens pop is throwing the game either due to being bad, blinded by rage or as "trolling".

  • If you genuinely feel that way just stop playing, that sort of victim complex isn't something you're supposed to get from playing a god damn video game.

  • That just encourages constant heavy tunneling/proxy camping, no thanks. Even though one interesting side effect is that it would certainly nerf the no heal "strat" vs plague πŸ˜„

They're strong, just like instaheals and pimped out toolboxes. DBD is not a game chasing perfect balance, some matches are simply more rough for one side or the other depending on add-ons/offerings and that's fine.

  • They haven't added extra difficulty (aka punishing people for playing with friends) because that'd be absolutely idiotic. Casual players get annoyed, the ~4man SWAT team depip squads~ just dodge lobbies to get eachother like people did pre-SWF and screw queue times - everybody loses. Sure you could punish lobby dodging or something, but even without SWF I doubt 4 red rank survivors with toolboxes is a very tempting match for killers to go into, because if they did that it'd most likely impact killers as well.

They have straight up said they're aiming to go for the buff solos -> buff killers that need it route, so I can agree with that one.

But if you desperately want added difficulty (punishment) to SWF or something then honestly just quit the game already as it ain't happening. That's not the path the devs are going, and it would be absurd of them to do. So wasting emotional energy on getting mad about it when this isn't an esports-oriented game chasing "perfect balance" is just a complete waste of time and you should just play something else.

  • If there's a lot of pallets in one place it usually means there's a deadzone somewhere else, as super-compact (or even straight up double) pallets tend to happen on maps with "islands" of safety inbetween all the swamp/cornland.

And as said, double pallets is just what happens when the minimum pallet number isn't reached and there's no "valid" spots left on the map. At that point it will ignore the usual rules to reach the minimum as it's a hard limit, it will not start the game with less pallets than that number. The vast majority of double pallets I see is in the loops next to the boat/pantry on the swamp maps.

  • To avoid skillchecks, grabs or making the gen repair noise. The last one is pretty rare but it can let you finish a gen under the killer's nose if they are listening for the sound.

Don't really have to gentap to avoid grabs even against something like prayer beads, just let go for a moment now and then and it decreases the odds of getting grabbed significantly.

Doing it to avoid skillchecks is just a bad habit. I'm nowhere near as good at hitting consistent greats as some people, but if I just refused to even try to learn I'd be way worse than I am now.

  • No one will get banned until they make an announcement like with the original Legion blades bug. The fact hey haven't done so really implies they're aiming to fix as much as possible in the hotfix, I'd imagine they would have announced it if they knew they couldn't fix it for a month or something. And even then the only people they're retroactively ban would be the people that suddenly started running Wake Up/legion blades in the vast majority of their games for some "unknown reason" I'd imagine.

And if you genuinely believe they are ASCENDED enough to actually make an announcement and it says that only killers will get banned you need to take the tinfoil hat off and play another game, as with that attitude you probably won't ever be happy.

  • Sometimes matchmaking just gets drunk and you get sent to the Twilight Zone, I've had games where me as a rank 3 survivor ends up in a lobby where the highest rank of ANY other player in there is 15.

If a SWF party has very spread out ranks (think something like 3-6-11-14 or something) obviously someone will look out of place no matter what rank the killer is.

  • @Dokta_Carter said:

Ive always wondered why one side always says negative things about the other?

I also dont understand how Ruin, Add ons for Toolbox/medkits and other stuff makes a person toxic during an event. Isnt the goal to survive escape/kill survivors depending on your side?

@Dokta_Carter Some people seem to believe everyone should have some sort of mutual chill period ("soft farming" or straight up farming even) just because of the event. In my opinion playing normally will be perfectly fine no matter what.

Going out of your way to screw someone out of points as a primary objective is stupid though. I'm talking stuff like stuffing a revved chainsaw in someone's face on their 1st hook with 5 gens left specifically to deny them points, disconnecting to deny killers points/bbq stacks... that sort of stuff. And I have seen it even though its rare, schadenfreude is a thing for some afterall.

  • I saw Boil Over do a thing yesterday. Killer was carrying a Kate and got a bit greedy trying to hook her in a corner, and the moment I saw him get stuck on a barrel for even half a second I knew I had watched something wonderful even before she wiggled off his shoulder.

Later I also made Tenacity do a thing. Somehow just crawling away while the killer was breaking a pallet and kicking a gen was enough for him to completely lose track of me, and I crawled my way to somewhere another survivor could pick me up πŸ˜„

  • A lot of the time it's just that particular person failing to load in. On my end when it happens to me my game usually stops responding and I usually just kill it in task manager. It's the games that would start with less than 4 survivors in the past.

  • I mean PS4 is a completely different world when it comes to playing nurse, or consoles in general that is.

On PC I generally don't feel the need for Ruin as nurse, I'd much rather have another perk like PGTW or even Shadowborn that can't be taken away from me if a totem gets blown up. You can use it, but you are most of the time perfectly capable of manually applying pressure by cycling hooks.

But then again I don't get pissed off if I don't 4K so my perspective is probably different to some people, you can obviously use whatever you want. People that claim any Nurse that runs ruin actually sucks at nurse are idiots.

  • Appeal to rule #5 and your arguement immediately gets worse. Every game ever has that rule in one shape or another, and anyone that actually takes the time to think instead of crying while weaponizing it against something they don't like realize it refers to traditional cheating programs like wallhacks, aimbots, maphacks and so on. Unless otherwise is SPECIFICALLY stated it's rightfully assumed that using VOIP in a multiplayer game is allowed.

DBD isn't some esports-oriented game with esports-influenced balance. It's competitive in the sense it has winners and losers, but it has a myriad of powerful modifiers (add-ons, offerings, perks) that turn killers, survivors and items into something very different to their base powerlevel. A medkit is nice, a syringe medkit is crazy. Nurse is nice, omegablink nurse is crazy. Accept that DBD will never achive ~perfect balance~ or just do yourself a favor and quit the damn game already instead of being that guy crying about a play with friends mode in a multiplayer game.

  • Play. I usually tab out in lobby and only tab back in when I hear the match starting anyway, check offerings used and play to be honest.

  • Well you still decisively won, and as it seems you realized that survivor was either just trolling or a legitimate idiot.

Abandon the "4K or Loss" mindset today and it makes the game way less frustrating.

  • I'd use them if I had them, I rarely get them in my webs.

Feels like I constantly go an entire prestige and get a single BPS at most, so I'd imagine there's other unlucky gamers out there.

  • You won't get banned for it, ever. Well you "could", but it won't be detected.

The program does nothing that any other network monitoring application doesn't do. It doesn't actually block anything, ALL it does is find the relevant network information (latency, connected IPs) and present it in an overlay. That's it. People that claim it actively "blocks" connecting to people in the first place are hilariously misinformed.

in About MLGA Comment by Jesp
  • When I saw "aggressive" I thought of something like enduring/spirit fury/bamboozle/<something else> to just bruteforce pallets and windows as hard as possible, but that's a different kind of aggressive.

I guess if they tend to use obsession perks you could use Rancor to try to get them? Whispers so if you're in some random corner and it lights up it might be your "nemesis" hiding there? I dunno.

  • @Tensor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/69126/plz-get-rid-of-pallet-looping-devs-or-less-pallets

So, what options do you want survivors to have then? None? You're just after the easy 4 kill each match

    Beat me to it.

So done with people just going "REMOVE THIS THING" without even proposing an alternative whatsoever, can't even be bothered to hide how much I feel it makes them seem like a salty crybaby anymore. "JUST STEALTH!" is probably the answer, which is cool and could be said to be implied, but at the same time no mention of making stuff like legion and doc not delete stealth in a lot of situatons.

But on topic, I don't see how they could "remove looping" unless people were forced to drop a pallet when running through it. People will try to get the most use possible out of even less safe and more mindgameable pallets, it's just common sense. They already said they wanted to make less loops as long and safe as they are now, and I would personally love more "tall" loops instead of mindless ones as actively trying to outsmart someone that's trying to outsmart you in a chase is the game at its best in my opinion.

  • If you straight up want SWF removed you should probably just quit the game as it's not going anywhere and you're wasting time, emotional energy and keystrokes campaigning against it. The only thing it "encourages" is playing with friends, it's up to the players what they do with that. Realize this isn't some tournament-viable eSports balanced game and that there's tons of straight up unbalanced stuff in it, or find a game that fits your mindset better.

If you just want stuff like bonus BP for playing against them or solos to be buffed then killers that need it then I can agree. But I'm honestly done with even arguing about the actual removal of SWF as it's an absurd and unrealistic request to begin with.

  • Not much that can be done, players are not obligated to be team-oriented players. Is it obnoxious to see someone already peace out and decide to camp hatch when it makes no sense? Yeah. Is it against any rules? Nope.

If you want to reduce the probability of getting such teammates play SWF, if you want to eliminate it entirely play 4man SWF with people you know won't do it. Not much else can (or should) be done.

  • I would love some sort of secondary objective, be it collecting parts or something that makes hunting down dull totems more important that isn't base kit NOED. I'm no game designer so I don't really know how to go about it, but having to do something else than just holding M1 and doing skillchecks when it comes to generators would be nice.

And when it comes to SWF any other path than the often mentioned buff solo survivors and then buff killers that need it is a waste of time to even think about. If you want SWF in its entirety removed alltogether you should probably either realize this isn't a game with some sort of eSports-influenced balancing philosophy or just quit the game to save yourself the trouble, it's not going anywhere and it shouldn't. Punishments are absurd and wouldn't work.

And yes, the killer is supposed to kill survivors. The killer killing somewhere between 2 and 3 of them on average every match seems to be the balance the devs desire, not all 4 of them πŸ˜‰

  • Or just accept that the games have completely different balancing goals.

In DG the Hunter is indeed meant to be a total powerhouse that can run over scavengers, and even then there are some scav stuff that is really strong (like the active camo) and a co-ordinated team can obviously still be a massive pain, meanwhile DBD is a game where the devs have straight up stated that a ~2k-3k average is a good number. If you 4k almost every game you're actually massively overperforming by the standards the developers seem to want.

  • Yeah protection detection is messed up.

There's time where I stand right next to an injured survivor (at the gate for example), the killer walks up and hits me and I get no stack for WGLF. The only way that genuinely seems 100% consistent is taking a hit while the killer is carrying someone.

  • I really wish there were more playstyle-altering add-ons as well.

A lot of the time you just combine the strongest add-ons buffing whatever stat is the most relevant (like chainsaw charge speed/cooldown, blink range or something like that) and leave it at that.

Say what you want about the Doctor and his overall viability, the way his add-ons basically let you customize his power to your liking is really cool. You can add more tracking with restraint, exhaustion and more time wasting with obedience, turn your zap into a 20 meter railgun or even turn yourself into spooky doc with 2x Calm.

  • Evil incarnate.

Was bad enough when people hopped in lockers, at least you could try to drag them to a dead zone and then force them to jump off your shoulder. Now you've got rampant disconnecting to worry about as well.

  • @TerrorTrooper why are you reporting for bodyblocking? That isn't against the rules unless it's the kind of bodyblocking that takes the game hostage (killer blocking all survivors so they can't do gens and trigger EGC, survivors locking killer in exploit spots). Taking hits for other survivors isn't reportable.

And on the thread in general, the fact your motivation is to deter people from playing with friends is laughable. Punishments already wouldn't work (casuals quit, "hardcore SWAT depip death squads" just dodge lobbies until they get eachother as solos) and that motivation is just pathetic.

  • I mean by definition taking the game hostage means there is no way out besides disconnecting, so obviously. It's not technically taking the game hostage to trap someone in a corner and waiting for the other survivors to do the gens and "kill" the cornered person with EGC.

Should doing that be encouraged in any way though? Not at all if you ask me, as it's legitimately getting rewarded for basically going AFK.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/514771#Comment_514771

I'm more concerned why it bothers you so badly that somebodies view of what a win is differs from yours so much.

    Why should it matter?

@FrenziedRoach I think they're worried the game will be balanced around "unofficial win conditions" like having a good game, getting 4 BBQ stacks or whatever instead of what the game itself presents as wins (be it 4k/escape or pip, either makes sense in that regard as a true win condition depending on how you look at it)

I mean I get where they're coming from considering the "controversy" with killers designed to be interesting instead of viable but it's not like this thread is an official feedback thread, it's just people saying what makes them personally feel satisfied with a match.

  • If there's one thing I don't get it's small streamers with their url in their name just calling everyone bad/dumb. Surely they want people to perhaps check out the match from their perspective, maybe even end up enjoying what they see and giving the stream itself a chance? Which is why it doesn't make sense to me when people like that talk trash about everyone else in the game. How is that entertaining? And since when did it make sense to insult the people you're basically advertising for?

Or is there some other reason people put their URL in their name that I'm not aware of? I will say the twitch shirt looks nice though regardless, I really like the colour πŸ˜„

  • They've never even implied they've even thought about doing anything else than adjusting her add-ons, chill out guys. She has so many weird add-ons you very rarely see (especially greens and purples) that they could turn into something more interesting, and it's not like the world is going to end if they make range extenders/omegablink actually have a FUNCTIONAL downside since "blink accuracy" is a complete meme for the power they offer and in general.

Same for 3/4 blinks with no downsides setups. 5 blinks is dumb but it has annoying downsides at least, locks you into garbage little baby blinks even though it's a huge safety net build.

I highly doubt they'd touch base nurse.

  • I use them a lot as I kinda hoard add-ons.

And some are genuinely good and/or do something unique. straps on Pig, memo on Myers for spooky Myers, Ghost on Wraith. Huntress has a brown exhaustion add-on which is obviously strong.

Then there's killers where you really don't need crazy add-ons to do fine. Billy with spark plug + vegetable oil is a solid budget combo, and the spoon on Nurse is nice combined with pocket watch iirc. Her brown tooth add-on is moderately increased charge speed as well which is pretty sweet if you want that.

  • I guess it falls under "have a good game", with some special exceptions depending on what build I'm using.

If I'm running Devour Hope I've already won in my mind if I get to mori a single survivor with it for example, and if I get 4 stacks of BBQ&Chili I might still lose, but the defeat sure tastes like a win in the end πŸ˜„

For survivor I often sacrifice myself to save someone else, but if I'm running a plundering build you better believe I'm out of there if I found something nice. I guess I indirectly play for pips as survivor as trying to do multiple things (saves, gens, chase, stealth and so on) tends to give decent emblems and BP.

Bottom line is I'd much rather have a game with lots of action and kill 2 survivors than get a 4k with 5 gens up because they just rushed the hook and all got smacked down, just like I'd rather die as a survivor with 20k points than annihilate a killer I clearly outmatch and get 11k points.
