  • I know people are disappointed it wasn't a movie slasher this time, but BHVR have now shown they can bring in horror icons from movies, TV shows, and now other video games. They are killing it!

  • Silent Hill is a series I was always fascinated by when I was younger, but i never had the opportunity to play it. I don't have a PS2 anymore and I've always wanted to try the HD collection, but reviews convince me not to because it apparently doesn't do justice to the original Silent Hill 2 and 3. It also seems like the newer generation SH games like Homeocoming or Downpour don't hold up either.

So I am beyond excited that Silent Hill is coming to DBD! When I first started playing back in 2018, I thought Pyramid Head would be a great addition to the game and it's actually happening now!

I'm watching my favorite content creators play on the PTB and I am astounded. The killer and survivor perks look interesting, Pyramid Head looks like he'll be a strong killer, and the map's terrifying atmosphere has me speechless (the sirens in the trailer and when you load into the map get me excited every time).

Thank you for another amazing chapter, devs. I love DBD and I love you. I hope my appreciation post makes you smile amid the "Killer OP pls nerf" and "PyRaMiD HeAd IsN't IcOnIc" posts. <3

  • People were pissed because they asking, "#########, why would you need ruin without addressing why people ran it" but when you compare this mid-chapter from the last one it makes sense. They needed to change ruin first to streamline gen repair speeds since Ruin affected data too much, and then they could make gen speed changes from there.

  • Thanks for the tips everyone! I seem to be having better luck by taking the time to aim my shots rather than quick scoping it! I hope to keep practicing and get better!

  • Oni is very well-balanced. Keep in mind he has nothing going for him until he (realistically) hits two different survivors. Yes, his power is strong but it should feel strong because he doesn't have it forever like Hillbilly does. Survivors just need to actually heal against him instead of rushing gens. And there's plenty of tiles he can still be looped on, even in Demon mode.

  • If the devs feel like they need an extra week to ensure the chapter is polished up and ready for release, I'm 100% for it. I'm glad the devs are passionate enough to want to give us a good chapter release that isn't overshadowed by bugs and other mess.

  • My apologies for my incorrect assumption. I look forward to seeing what changes (if any) are coming between the PTB and the live update.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

We are getting a second week of ptb?

    Didn't know that...

Isn't there usually two weeks PTB or is it usually just one?

  • Completely agree. I like the change but 2.5 seconds is way too fast. It needs to be at least 4 to 5 seconds and the killer should still be able to hook if the saboteur action hasn't been completed.

  • ^ Pretty much everything this guy said. I know it's hard to believe, but the devs do care about both sides.

  • Nah, Oni is in a pretty great spot right now. Yes, he's very strong when he gets his power (and it should feel that way) but he also has horrible early game. If he doesn't get blood quickly enough, that can really screw him. Plus, he can still be looped in Demon mode. If a survivor gets to a strong structure while he has his power, he's better off trying to find someone else.

I think he was pointing out all the numerous issues with this game and they decided fixed dcing was the most important.

Either way I'm glad there's penalties for dcing now. Too many times someone quits for some bullshit reason then the survivors whine I didn't go easy on them.

    He got found first

    He failed a mind game

    He doesn't like the killer

    The killer is running franklins

    He missed his ds

Yell at the asshat that gave up on you. Not me. It's not my fault he left. If I dced every single time the other side did something I didn't like then Id never get to play killer, ever.

That's fair and I apologize if I misread his intentions. However, all of the things that OP and you pointed out are why DC bans SHOULD come first. It doesn't matter how much the devs improve the game if people continue to DC over the most petty things. DCing is worse for the game than any of its imperfections. So you have make punishing DC's a priority otherwise people will just keep DCing because they don't like how their match is going and get away with it scot free. Then no one is having fun.

  • None of the above make you entitled to DC and ruin the game for other players.

  • Why is it that at my rank, someone is bringing a key every other game? But God forbid I bring a mori to compensate and, surprise surprise, "Match Cancelled" because someone DC'd after they saw the offering. Why should they feel like they no longer have to commit to the game because they suddenly don't like what they are playing against but I just have to deal with it?

I mean, besides the whole flick debacle, they got Oni hands down perfect on the first try. 100% my favorite Killer to date.

I absolutely agree, Oni may be the best killer they released yet, which is why he's my new fave. He's not perfect though, and I really wish they would change Iridescent Family Crest. It's really disappointing for an ultra rare.

  • I'm really happy the devs are slowly going back to the weaker killers and giving them the attention they deserve. At the same time though, I have to be a bit critical. Why go through the trouble of releasing killer add-ons that are mostly useless in the first place?

With some killers, it seems like many of their add-on effects are laughably bad or the modifiers are so minute they are hardly worth running. I know it's better for them to buff things that are too weak than nerf things that are too strong, but It's just creating more work for themselves in the long run.

I think it would be beneficial for them to consult fog whisperers (who play both sides) if the proposed add-ons for new killers will be good or not. I just want to see them get it right the first time without having to worry about spending time going back and reworking everything.

Hate to bring up an old thread, but we've had a few patches since December, and none of them have addressed this issue. Is the lighting being worked on at all? I've got the gamma turned up as high as it'll go on my TV and I still can barely see anything in either Yamaoka map, making it extremely frustrating as killer and survivor.

Side note, the lower floor of the Gideon Meat Packing Plant is a bit too dark as well, but nowhere near as bad as either Yamaoka map.

I'm sorry to hear it is still near unplayable for you. I actually thought they had fixed it because it hasn't been as bad for me lately. I must have made some adjustments on my TV settings to make it not as awful.

  • Oni because he is an absolute unit. Just needs to spill a little blood and then he gains superior speed and power. He would also more than likely have high endurance with all the armor and his combat experience.

  • Really cool you were able to translate that! Would you be able to translate what she says in lobby? Something along the lines of: "Meauhfahoom Dingir Okuba?"

  • Also, devs, if this is the first thread you are seeing about this, go check out @GHOSTfaceP3's post. His thread has way more activity and is more deserving of your attention.

The thing about forums is that you shouldnt do an exact same thread is there is one active already.

Also I think devs would rather reply to one top thread with 1k views than to 10 threads about the same thing 100 views each

Threads can still get buried even if they are technically active.

The devs don't have to feel obligated to respond to every thread about the same thing. They can just pick any of them if they want their feedback to be known.

Plus, multiple threads about the same thing gives quantitative feedback, not just qualitative. Thread after thread was made about the Ruin nerf. People didn't care that someone already made a post about it. They wanted to share their opinion, even if they were ultimately just saying what someone else already said.

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

There is already a thread about this video

So? If people really like this idea, why would they not be allowed to make their own post about it? The more people that vocalize their feedback and suggestions, the more likely the devs will A) See it and B) Consider it.

  • Love the idea. Bumping so this thread gets pushed back to the top. Interested to hear feedback from the devs on this.

I'd rather just have Traps auto-start when all the gens are done and make it so EGC timer is paused while someone has a Trap on. Basically like how it used to be prior to EGC nerf.

I would be ok with that too. Besides Freddy, Pig is the only one whose power becomes partially useless once the last gen is powered. If she still has traps by endgame, she should be able to use them.

-You can charge bloodfury only from gathering orbs

-Orbs disappear after 30 seconds staying on the ground

-Allows you to kill survivors by your hands while you are in blood fury

That would probably be too OP considering his speed in blood fury. Plus, you could just farm the orbs following one injured survivor and then start killing everyone.

  • I just wish her traps also activated when the endgame collapse starts so she can still get use out of them. A survivor can still have their trap activate when the last gen goes off and the EGC can start 20 seconds later. So the survivor would still have to deal with two timers in that scenario.

  • Meh. The game is already grindy enough. You'd be better of putting points into a different character instead of sinking them into a main over and over.

  • Renjiro's Bloody Glove is fine to me. It creates a different style of play. You won't get your power as much, but you will have some insane tracking. It's basically Plagues Black Insense.

Iridescent Crest is very underwhelming though. I would prefer something like:

Moderately/Considerably decreases cooldown of missed Demon Strike attacks

    or

Tremendously increases Demon Dash speed, Moderately/Considerably decreases duration of Blood Fury.

I think either of those would be pretty great.

  • @not_Queef said:

Billy, Leatherface and Huntress are the only ones remaining with the incorrect number of addons. I would expect them to be looked at next.

    Probably the chainsaw bros first.

You're forgetting Myers. He has one too little brown add-ons and one too many yellow. Very minor, yes, but still doesn't fit their new standard so he will get looked at too.

  • I agree, Leatherface should definitely be next. His power is a bit lacking and when a LF decides to face camp a survivor holding his chainsaw at 99%, it really makes the game unfun and toxic. However, I think they'll do Hillbilly and Leatherface together considering they have almost the same set of add-ons, and I hope they use the opportunity to give them a little more variability from each other.

Besides those two, I think the only other killers left that don't have the standard add-on sets are Myers and Huntress. But considering LF has way more gameplay problems for both sides, I hope he is addressed first. If the devs want to focus on the game being fun for new survivors, face camping bubba needs to be dealt with.

I think they also mentioned looking into Pig at some point considering most of her add-ons are useless and a good number of players agree Rule Set No. 2 should be base kit for her.

  • Killer: Dark Devotion. After the recent buff it got, this perk is now super fun! Use it on a non-stealth killer, and it will really catch people off guard! I used it on Freddy last night and got a gen grab along with several surprise hits out of it.

Survivor: Autodidact. It's a little chancey with skill checks being RNG but when you get it to work, it doesn't matter what anti-heal the killer is running. Getting it to 5 tokens is super satisfying.

  • I think this is a fair criticism. Bumping to keep this post near the top.

  • I would love to see the Clown get some map pressure and I think this is a cool idea! I'm sure the devs would put their own spin on it but I hope they take notice of this post and get some inspiration from it!

  • I love this idea and hope they consider it

  • Hangman's Trick

    Light born

    Mad Grit

    Franklin's Demise

I call it the "Anti-SWF" build

  • I wonder how they will give Nurse chase music. She just missed the cut where they are giving killers chase music as they update them. I hope they find a way to fit in new music for her with whatever killer update is next.

  • SURVIVOR

    Default: Yui

    Cosmetic: Jeff's Black Metal skin

    Event: Jake's Withering Blight skin

    KILLER

    Default: Oni

Cosmetic: Doctor's Wild Asylum Mental Patient skin

    Event: Spirit's Withering Blight skin.

The idea is that you throw the bottle inside the gen so the gas is stuck inside the gen for a while.

Smaller maps was my first suggestion because you can't really make weak killers better without normalizing the maps, other than just giving them mobility. These ideas rely on the larger maps getting smaller.

Aw, I see. Could be good, but Clown could just spam his bottles if he had a 3 gen strat and turn it into a hostage situation like with old Doctor.

I forgot to acknowledge the maps. Yes, a lot of the maps need to be shrunk. Especially Rotten Fields, both the Red Forest maps, Family Residence, and Mount Ormund. I'm all for some variation, but when it starts to make it unfair for the killer, it's a problem. I think maps like Coal Tower and Father Campbell's Chapel are examples of more balanced maps they should aim for.

  • My best guess is they determine cosmetic value on an individual basis and they think all of Hillbilly's are unique enough to be worth cells only. I was personally hoping his fireworks skin would have a shards option, but unfortunately that didn't happen. I think they should at least have a shards option for his ranger skin considering they had it on sale at one point for 300 cells.

At the very least, he got a recolor for his Auto-Repair Reaper skin in the last rift. Whenever those cosmetics go on sale in the store (I believe 6 months after that rift closed), I'm willing to bet that recolor will have a shards option.

  • I like a lot of your ideas! Throwing bottles at gens to kick them sounds really cool and that would give clown a higher skill cap!

Not sure if I like the gas leaking from gens though. It's creative, but I'm not sure it would make sense. How exactly is the gas coming from the gens? Plus, it probably wouldn't do much. It doesn't matter if the survivors are being gassed at gens if clown is on the other side of the map.

Faster or slower skill checks sounds cool though! I think that could be made into a good add-on. Something like, intoxication no longer slows survivors, but intoxication now lasts 30-60 seconds and affects the speed of all repair, healing, and sabotage skill checks.

And yes, there is so much that could be done with status effects after direct bottle hits. Longer intoxification, even slower survivor movement speed, blurrier vision, action speed slowdown, etc. Maybe even, down a survivor after a direct bottle hit and survivors within 32 scream. Would basically give him Infectious Fright as an add-on, kinda like how the Nurse now has add-ons to give her Stridor or Nurse's Calling.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

I don't think anyone's going to stop paying for DLCs and cosmetics because they didn't like the chase music.

I agree, but if it sounds like nails on chalkboard to someone, they are probably not going to enjoy playing Doctor. Or they are going to hate going against him as survivor.

You could also argue a lot of people will either get used to it or tune it out. Just trying to offer a suggestion that is considerate for the people who find it really grating.

  • The Ruin changes are bold, but as long as changes are made in the next update or so to balance the game around it I'm ok with that. I've already stopped using Ruin and it's giving me more variety in my builds and making me a better player by not relying on it for slowdown (though I still have games where the gens simply go too quick and I don't have enough time to do anything about it).

As a former Doctor main, I am very excited for his update to go live! I think Static Blast is miles better than Static Field was. The two most concerning issues I had have already been addressed (delay and cooldown of shock therapy). Once those are given the proper treatment, I think he will be in a decent spot. Probably not top tier, but much better than he was. I'm also tickled pink they gave him custom chase and menu music. It really gives him more character and I hope they do this for all of the killers eventually.

I don't think Lery's was in need of a rework as much as all of the maps that came before it. However, I can't complain much because it does make sense to go along with the Doctor rework and it looks/sounds amazing! I honestly think it is one of the best maps in the game now as far as design and theme goes. Not sure yet how it fares gameplay-wise.

Really glad Wraith and Spirit's lunge were fixed. That definitely needed to happen.

I have been loving Oni so I am really excited to try out his flick changes! He's definitely challenging to play on console so I really hope this update gives him the control he needs to be more deadly in Blood Fury.

Lastly, I do wish killer sound was addressed more in this update. A lot of players have been pointing it out and it's starting to become a big problem. You can't hear footsteps in chase or hear survivors on the ground. It's making killer gameplay more frustrating than it needs to be. So hopefully that is addressed soon.

  • @Milo said:

I like it ... but also dislike it because it only goes on cooldown when you hit someone.

Why do you think so? To me, with a 30 second cooldown, you won't get to use it more than once in chase unless you are spending too long committing to one survivor which will more than likely hurt you with gens in the long run.

  • I like a lot of the points you made. I play mostly killer and I agree. I actually think changing Ruin will help the game stay afloat the more I think about it.

Ruin has been like a toxic relationship to the community. It wasn't healthy for the game or the players, but it was around so long that it became familiar and comfortable to everyone. That makes it even harder to let go because no one wants to change something they feel is necessary for them even if it's not good for them either. This will be difficult for a lot of people to accept for a while, but I think it will make the game better in the long run and people eventually won't even miss it anymore.

Now, a lot of players are more upset simply because nothing was done about gen speed in return and I agree, it seems like changes are being made in a weird order. However, I've seen the devs say that no more old Ruin means they will have a better baseline for data to balance the game. I hope we will see those results within the next few patches.

  • @Plaquer said:

Hell yeah, Shadow Dance wraith and Tuft Myers boutta reach a new level of vaulting speed

    ULTRA INSTINCT MODE

  • The new Léry's looks astonishing! Was that map chosen simply because it made sense for the Doctor rework or were there other reasons behind picking that map over other ones?

  • Right now I really enjoy it when I can snowball with Oni's Demon Strike. Even better if I can predict a juke and still get the hit.

We are not "console peasants" We comprise a significant portion of the community. I'd advise you to be wiser with your words.

I really hate the "PC Master Race" mentality. Sure, performance is better on PC, but I would argue more people actually play DBD on console because more people own a PS4 or Xbox One than a gaming PC. Just because the game isn't as optimized for us does not mean we don't understand how the game works.
