Have they ever Killswitched a killer a day and a half after release? I'm not saying this deserves it, just asking.
As for a timeframe, since Sony & Nintendo & Microsoft all individually have to review and approve game patches I'd say next Tuesday at the earliest. If it was only Steam they could do a dozen patches in a week if they cared to, but it isn't.
Im not asking for Xeno to be killswitched, I think that would really harm the reception of this Chapter.
What I want is some sign from BHVR that they are aware of the issues and intend on fixing it, nothing more really.
-
At this point I dont get why they havent just removed the window entirely. It causes the most issues, just get rid of it.

That is honestly pretty interesting.
Again, Im not trying to discredit or attack people, so I hope my post does not come off in a negative way, moreso just trying to understand this since my brain works differently then others so Id like to understand other people's point of view.
Might I ask, do you have an example of a build or character you enjoy? Perhaps you can explain a bit more? Sorry if Im asking for too much, just again, I find this interesting and would love to understand this more.

I've seen too many pull a Pyramid Head where they just run head on towards and never react until you actually make it close enough to the window or pallet that they can still hit you
The hitbox is like Nemesis, it lingers, people often forget that or just dont know it yet. At the very least, better visual feedback needs to be provided so Survivors/Killers know exactly where the collision area is.
-
I think my main issue is the Flamer Hitboxes.
They can be really annoying to hit. Ive also found a few spots where you cant hit them on Decimated Borgo because placing them inside of bushes causes the bushes to tank the hit with your tail so you are forced to M1 them, which sucks really bad.
-
Ive had no issues again Xenokitty personally, you just threat them like Nemesis. Greed pallets, bait pallet drops and windows, avoid trying to give them free hits, you always want them to work for it in some way.

Hopefully when they are done we can see a map for Trickster, or maybe some alternative maps for Deathslinger besides just DDS.

God I hate that map with a passion.

You can buy the characters individually with Auric Cells. You are not required to purchased the characters via the steam store.
Problem: I am a charm collector.
While incredibly niche, Im basically forced to buy the bundle if I want to obtain the charm. I want the characters, I want the charm, I dont want to spend more for the outfit though.
Also this ignore the entire fact that the DLC would be cheaper than buying Auric Cells if they didnt artificially increase the price to begin with. And including outfits to artificially raise the price of DLC sets a bad idea going forwards, I dont think we should sit here and defend this.
-
Listen, Im fine with buying the DLCs personally, however there is one thing I particularly take issue with, which is intentionally putting in useless content into the DLC/Bundle to artificially inflate the prices.
For those who dont know, the DLC costs 12 USD excluding tax, a price that is typically reserved for DLC that has 3 characters. They are able to charge this price for 2 characters because they intentionally included a Very Rare cosmetic set.
Recently a lot of games I know have been doing this, such as Warframe, which included Regal Aya in their Supporter Bundle to inflate the prices, but while I can give Warframe a pass since it was only a cosmetic bundle that can easily be ignored, Dead By Daylight on the other hand is a paid game, and DLC is basically mandatory because of how awful the Shrine of Secrets is.
This is scummy.
This must be called out. Im tired of it.
(This was it's own post but it got moved to this post as a reply.)

Now, chase balance is broken by MTF.
Too sad, developer tested only straight way on no barrir.
They didn't think MTF would be used in the chase position and combined with DH.
And , they didn't expect that vaulting buff would work with MTF.
OK.
There's no point in just being sad, so let's have a discussion.
MTF is activated when rescued.
If survivors uses a window or pallet, or healing self , MTF is disabled and exhausted state 40s.
When rescued, you can move quickly to a safe place or a generator.
And you get only one-time chance to use the window or pallet advantage.
You'll have to bear the risk, but you can still maintain the effect and repair the generator while injured.
If you don't like it not triggering when you get hurt in the first chase, you can choose a Overcome.
How do you think?
MFT* not MTF. It's Made For This not Made This For.

I dont see how thats different then killers slugging for a 4k..Its just a waste of time and to annoy the opponent.
Never said it was fine either. Both are annoying.
Slugging Survivors to death or slugging Survivors for the 4K (which often results in the Survivor bleeding out) are both wastes of time, and something the Killer has active control in. It is a fair comparison to draw.
I personally never really planned on addressing it since I personally never do it as Killer unless I am force to for an achievement or Archive (Im an Achievement Hunter, so pardon me).
I wish BHVR would make some changes to encourage Killers to hook instead of slug in those situations however; like making Merciless Killer require a 3K instead of 4K, or making Archive challenges not as strict.

In leu of being able to fix them, I'd remove RPD, The Game, Midwitch, Decimated Borgo, & Garden of Joy from the map pools.
They're all horrible maps for various reasons. And the quality of each match will only be improved with them gone.
Since I mentioned it being one aspect, do you have a specific one that you would prefer removing?
-
I have suggested many times for them to fix or provide options to change various brightness/flashing aspects with the game.
Not to say that they get ignored but they often get buried under the sea of awful or bait suggestions posts.
Would love to see them provide an option to change this though!
-
I think Spirit is fine how she is... outside of a few minor issues.
Spirit feels like they rely a lot more on addons, however the addons that they do have provide such a significant advantage that they make her quite strong.
I personally have no idea how BHVR could balance this out to make her basekit feel better to use without making her basekit or addons too overwhelming.
(Also like 90% of the Spirit mains have been huffing copium ever since the addon nerfs but realistically I think some of it was warranted since many addons and mechanics involving addons were overtuned and definitely needed adjusting. I got nothing against Spirit mains, just this is like the 10th thread this month Ive seen about buffing her.)

More specifically the absurd amount of them on each map?
here’s some recent footage from myself.
I wasn’t playing terribly, there’s just only so much you can do when survivors have safe pallet next to safe pallet, next to Jungle gym, next to Shack.
It’d be one thing if maps had 10-12 pallets or so. As killer you’re still kicking pallets but at least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. And for survivors, it’d force them play smarter and really think and prioritize when and where they wanna drop a pallet.
A competent survivor can run a killer around a decent pallet/loop for god knows how long before he either gives up and break chase, or gives up and eats the stun. Only a handful of killer truly have options for pallets but I ask; “why do I need to stop playing a character I actually like and resonate with just to win?”
forget perk and killer reworks, just go through the maps and legitimately shave down the number of excess and unnecessary pallet placements. This would be a legitimately good fix for BOTH sides. More killers playing and playing killers other then 5 meta and survivors get forced to loop better and more efficiently.
Not to say that you are a bad Killer or anything... but do you have wide or slim deadzones for your Controllers?
That turning to look around looks really crude and does not seem too much control, fixing your deadzones can make things easier on yourself (and easier to the viewer because it really bothered me).
...Also yes I have nothing better to add to the conversation other than this... Yes it bothered me that much since Im a former Console player...

Changing brightness or gamma in TV settings won't help for DBD, ppl tried that. And the ingame colourblindness settings doesn't really work for colourblind ppl neither. At this point BHVR could also mess up with ingame brightness settings, maybe it is what it is, better don't risk it. It just bothers me when ppl "mod" DBD so they can see much better (or to have insane FPS) but then at the same time they're pretending it's not an advantage, they just want to DBD "looking better". This reminds me of the stupidity of strechted res.
On my PC, I have issues with FPS, I make it very well known that BHVR needs better optimization, I have made several Feedback and Suggestions posts about it.
Also keep in mind, with my PC, I could barely play the Anniversary without FPS issues or crashing. And while the game is somewhat stable, it pulls so much processing power that my audio drivers stop working half the time so I cant VC.
Also I cant play Oni. I tried playing Oni time and time again but it just pulls too many resources and my game freezes until the match is over. Playing against Oni has no issues, it's only playing as Oni I have issues, I reckon it might have to do with Blood Orb rendering but Idk.
DBD is the only game where I have this issue. Even Meet Your Maker, another game by BHVR, does not have this bad of performance issues. DBD is held together by glue, rubberbands, paper-clips, and masking-tape; it's been years and the closest things to an optimization patch we got was certain Killers (like Nurse) being recoded.
As per my thoughts on the matter. BHVR needs to make these settings changeable across all platforms rather than something that can only be changed in the Config. BHVR also really needs to recode their game but realistically that will never happen.
-
Slugging is fine.
I only have issues with people bleeding me out... I dont like having my time wasted... but as you mentioned, it's not what you are talking about, so it's all good then.

@Katzengott said:
I wouldn't mind filters IF EVERYONE COULD USE THEM. The difference alone between low and ultra settings is huge, console players don't even have this simple option. The fact that DBD is still one of the few games i know without INGAME BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS is just... Idk. Just compare a dark map on ultra (vanilla, how it's intended to be - which is good) with the same dark map on low graphics with better brightness and tell me there is no advantage as you can see the killer and survs much clearer. With good filters on top it's like day and night. And ofc ppl get addicted to it as they feel they need to use it to compete. But how is that fair with crossplay vs. console players?
Imo any changes in the config should be banned and brightness options and a graphic/performance mode should be added for all plattforms. I can only asume the first part would also help a lot with the cheater problem.
Most TV/Monitors come with Contrast and Brightness settings, my cheap TV that I used for a really long time had access to it, I reckon most tech released in the last decade has it. Back when I was on Console I used them, on PC I still use them. And again, I use it to fill in for my Red-Green Colorblindness, I really struggle to see things without it because the colors just blur/blend together.
I also only tanked my Config settings because BHVR refuses to optimize their game. If I didnt have FPS issues I wouldnt be forced to use them. I think BHVR should make these settings changeable without needing to alter the Config to begin with; but this is BHVR we are talking about... it took us 7 years to get a Search Bar... so yea.

Btw, it a total BS, with all respect.
First part is correct: if I'd used scummy tactic, I'd get obvoius response. It happened couple of times and I deserved it.
But I almost always play meme builds (or no builds), and I NEVER got BM in endgame chat. But instead I get a lot of kind words and responses, no matter if I lose or win.
I got cussed out in the post-game chat for using Sloppy Butcher, Forced Penance, Gift of Pain, and Leverage on Plague... and when saying that it was a joke build that got even more upset by it.
The truth is half the time people dont care if it is a meme build or not, if they dont like the outcome of the match they are going to make it known. I run meme builds all the time and have been cussed out a lot over it, I run normal builds all the time and have been cussed out a lot over it, the results are basically the same regardless.

Most games I know have support for Keyboard and Mouse on Console, DBD isnt one of them. I really wish they have support for Keyboard and Mouse since it would have made playing on Console a far more enjoyable experience before I moved to PC.
Im tired of people just saying "get a PC" as if a Keyboard and Mouse cant be bought for 10 USD, more people can afford a Keyboard and Mouse than they can a new PC, and if they already have a Console, they arent just going to spend the money to switch over.

I personally use NVIDIA Filters, just being perfectly honest.
I am also Deuteranopia (Red-Green) Colorblind. I have issues with tracking because the Scratchmarks and grass/foliage on most maps blend in too much, so I use NVIDIA Filters to make up for it.
I do technically use them for an advantage... but only because Im a disadvantaged from my eyesight. I dont use anything absurd like you showcased, I just use things to make the grass look a bit duller, and make the colors have a higher contrast.
Example of what my screen looks like:
I personally dont know how different this looks to normal gameplay since frankly I dont have normal vision, I hope someone can explain how good or bad this looks compared to the base game.
Also another thing, my NVIDIA Filters do have a HUGE downside. Being that I can see well on normal maps, but I really struggle on Coldwind Farm, Eyrie of Crows, and Decimated Borgo.
These NVIDIA Filters and colorblind settings cause the colors on those maps to blend together, and while I know I can technically just make Filters for those maps, I think it is fair to balance things out by keeping the same Filters on the entire time.

If you are able to get fast food. Would recommend Cane's.
Pretty decent food, I think they do delivery or at the very least you can order food through another service and have it delivered, and worth the price as well.
Obviously not a recipe or anything, sorry, I personally suck at cooking and Im only a mere college student so it's not like I have the resources to learn to cook anyways. But if you can afford it (I know not everyone has the budget for it), would recommend.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/388656/are-chain-blinds-fair-imo-yes
I think positioning the question around fairness is the wrong take.
Anything in the game is "fair", but the I feel like Chain blinds are just unnecessary.
I find it weird when people say flashlights are a weak item considering they fall into the same category of offensive items that party starters, firecrackers, and flashbangs are in yet those are only ever considered weak in the sense they are one time use. Flashlights give the same effect repeatedly and have much more versatility and less strict timings.
The reason I feel chain blinds are unnecessary is that if you've already gotten the blind your focus should be on getting away from the killer rather than wasting time on another blind which puts you at greater risk overall than just leaving. From a player health perspective they are unnecessary because a single blind is already physically painful on those of us with IRL light sensitivity issues and allowing people to blind you in rapid succession can lead to people just quitting the match altogether because headaches and nausea from repeated chain blinds isn't worst than the occasional five minute dc penalty or giving up a perk slot to permanently run Lightborn(What I have to do).
Flashlight blinds should be metered to once you've been blinded there is a grace period where you can't be blinded again. The reason for this is that because while killers can avoid blinds altogether by looking up or down that isn't always an option available to them. People seem to forget that killers have camera lockouts during certain animations like kicking palettes and picking up survivors. These are where the majority of blind attempts take place and where the majority of setup for chain blinds happen.
While it is fair, it's unnecessary and I think it just falls into the category of things we can do in the game that are more antagonistic than it should be.
I personally hate it when people act like Firecrackers, Flashbangs, and Fireworks are awful, when they arent.
I personally think they are better than Flashlights because they instantly blind and the blind angle is significantly wider than Flashlights.
Even if they are one time use, they are not that hard to get your hands on to begin with, they are dirt cheap during events or obtained via progressing your objective.
95% of my Flashbang Saves I just wonder "how the hell did that even work?" because of how stupid they are.

I saw complaints on the Forums all the way back when MMR was introduced; but recently I got into a Survivor match, Chain Blinded the Killer, and the Killer DCed and went off on me in the Post-Game Chat.
Didnt get my Blinds in One Match Archive. D:

@IlliterateGenocide said:
Also looking down just stops chain blinds right? The killers fault
I mentioned this. The Killer has a lot of room to counter Chain Blinds. If Chain Blinding was an issue, it's either the Survivors are able to express their skill too much or the Killer lacks enough skill... and I think we both know which one is realistically the answer.
Also sidenote, it annoys me when Killers look up to avoid Blinds. Looking down gives you better tracking since you can at least see the Survivor's legs, Scratchmarks, and Trail of Blood.

Otz makes money off these videos so he's got to make stuff interesting or controversial to keep people engaged and share it with other platforms or websites to make more money. Who knows if he really believes what he's saying.
If Otz cared more about money I think they would literally play any other game.
While DBD is popular in the horror game scene, you need to remember that it is only a smaller portion of gaming as a whole.
And if they cared about money, I dont think they would go through the trouble of making several hour long guides that only really help new players.
I think Otz just looks at things a lot more critically than most people do, considering how casual the playerbase is for DBD to begin with.
-
I dont think it is a matter of being unique.
I think it is a matter of being fun to play and/or having a decent level of strength.
-
Every now and then I play Skull Merchant, I enjoy playing her, but I know why people hate her.
I never place my Drones near Generators, just use them in chase with the Undetectable addons... the except to this is Main Building. I will always put my one Drone is Main Building regardless if it is near a Generator or not.
Anytime I play her, people either DC on first hook or people DC if they get exposed/hooked from me using Drones in chase.
I know most people just 3-Gen with her, and I think it is really boring, and I know using her in chase is an awful idea because the Drones are weak, but I find it fun.

Why do we have to know each other's perks at all times? Why does everything have to have an outplay or counter?
Can't we just get hit by Coup De Grace and say "OMG they had that niche perk and they got me!" instead of "Ugh I didn't know he had that perk and my looping is invalid now this is so unfair and unfun!"
I feel like it's just a thought he had at that moment that isn't worth having a discussion about LOL.
This was why I put "Is change really necessary?".
I do agree with Otz that it can create unfun or awkward situations, HOWEVER, I think DBD is already full of that to begin with. Gaming in general is full of that.
- Sometimes things dont work out. Sometimes things are unfun. There are times you want to leave and stop playing. There are times where you really really hate the game.
- Sometimes things do work out. Sometimes things are fun. There are times you want to keep playing. There are times where you really love the game.
There are two sides to every coin.
I do not think change is necessary. It is an issue, but it's an issue that works both ways, and it is something I think most players have gotten use to by now.

Ormond gives off horror vibes regardless I'd say.. It just feels eerie.. The farm during the day just throws me off though. Maybe they were going for the during the day Texas Chainsawish look, but for DBD I personally wish they kept the dark. Going through the corn field at night has a way different feel to it. A much more thrilling feeling because I can't see 10 miles in front my character due to it being...well..dark.. Less visibility is better. Even Ormond has that slight snow effect where things get blurry the further you try to look.
1 huge reason I hate that map during the day is I for the life of me, have so much trouble seeing scratch marks as Killer it isn't even funny. That map and Eerie of Crows beg for filters... :/
Ormand gives off an eerie vibe because it appears to be winter.
I know people associate Winter with the jolliness of Christmas, but a lot of Christmas's themes originally were focused around horror, seeing how almost everything is either dead or hibernating in some way, giving a very empty feeling to the season.
A lot of the stuff we look at today, such as A Christmas Carole, were designed to be horror stories, overtime a lot of the horror aspects were removed but you can still find the original stories out there.

Also anytime I play on Borgo, I always remember that BHVR raised the stone walls and I instantly think about the "Chest High Wall" (0:00 to 1:30, from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6MW-qdNoYA ).

I wish. Seeing a map in the middle of the day sure doesn't make me feel like I'm playing DBD... Having the farm map take place during the day instead of night like the original was an extremely questionable change.. Let's be honest though, what change does BHVR make to this game that isn't questionable besides accessibility features.. None that I can think of.. An even bigger reason why they should've kept it night time for coldwind farm is when the Texas Chainsaw game comes out, it'll be an actually scary amazing looking daytime map that has a reason to be...well daytime as it's based on the movie..
I would like to add onto this, but farms look really nice during the daytime, but during the nighttime, they feel a bit more ominous since stuff can easily be hiding inside the crops and you wouldnt know. I think it felt better in DBD because of that.
-
I personally think people should not be forced to play the game. But I have a standard with it.
If you DC, I think it is justifiable if you take a break from the game or do some other activity. I think mental and physical health is important, so in those instances, I think it is fine.
Also, to add onto what I last mentioned, not everyone can just stay in a match, they might not have the time or an emergency can come up, life just happens sometimes, which is perfectly okay.
However, DCing and loading into another match right after I find to not be acceptable. It shows that rather than learning to play against certain things, youd rather just outright avoid it. It isnt always entitlement, but in most cases it is.

I honestly just go along the Free Track until I know for a fact that I have completed most of the Rift, then I just get the Premium Track for the Deep Rift stuff.
Blue and white are my favorite colors, so it would make sense for me to get the Deep Rift stuff.
-
I got a few hot takes that I know people wont agree with:
- Legion isnt boring, spacing out more makes them more likely to dedicate to chase and makes the game less of a "mending simulator".
- Zanshin Tactics is a very good perk. To better explain, you can see the amount of resources on the map, and you can use it to make a better educated decision to chase a Survivor or not. This perk can save you from long and drawn out chases where you get nothing by the end. Likewise, you can also get The Game and fall asleep via counting the pallets. 8/10 perk.
- Nurse is actually fun to play against. I get that "oh but an experience Nurse will destroy you" but you never face them enough in Public Matches for it to be an issue honestly. Seeing people DC as soon as they hear the first blink is just tragic, and I wish people took the chance to learn how to play against her.
- The game was not better in 2016. Visually, I liked the darker atmosphere, but other than that, it really did not have much going for it. The game was really clunky, buggy, and the developers hardly listened or interacted with their community.

Jesus, how have I never realized there's this many? In hindsight it makes perfect sense, but I just assumed there was only like 3 different variations. I guess theme D is one of the more memorable ones for me.
Now I wish that Trapper Wraith, Bubba, and Plague will always keep the "generic" chase theme. When there's actually 8 versions, it really makes you think that the classic was the standard theme for a reason. Many people want Trapper to be the only one to keep the original theme but that would be sad because then nobody would hear it.
3 full Terror Radius themes came with the game upon release. There were 3 Separate Chase themes you can hear, I think they only technically play from the Killer's perspective or if there is a lack of Terror Radius when the chase starts (or at least those are the conditions for hearing the songs as far as Im aware).
3 (and I know this for a fact) were added in a later update, they were in the game files for a really long time but it took a few months before they were officially in the game past the initial release, you can maybe find some videos on such because Im not sure the exact release date of it.
I know 100% that I forgot one based on the audio samples from the DBD Fandom Wiki, however I cannot find it on YouTube. You can check there for anything I missed.
There are roughly 9 Default themes in total (or 6 Default themes with 3 Variant themes, depending on how you look at things).
Keep in mind, that each theme was made to have a bit of variety so it isnt the same thing over and over, and it was designed back in the earlier times of the game's history. There are MANY themes that exist for basic actions, such as being in the dying state actually has 4-7 different themes based on how far the match is progressed, the health state average of Survivors, etc.
It cannot be understated the amount of effort that was put in DBD's music and how it interacts with the game itself.
