  • The only people that play "toxic" and to annoy you its just some SWF. Try to play at late hours you will find it more relaxing and will encounter less SWF and more soloQ that just want to have fun.

  • Idk if that is the change it needs but it definitely needs a tweak. Its broken in some killers, you will be repairing the same gen over an over like forever in most cases when you combine this with other perks like pain resonance for example.. and besides that its also boring af.

  • Because they have no idea of what they are doing and don't play their own game.

DMS with Pain resonance is godlike tier on Pinhead in a really broken way.

Meanwhile Boil over can be abused a lot by SWF.

But as always expect months for them to get "statistics" and then IF they please will only start thinking on doing something about that.

Y'know, this is going to be a thing in level 3 or 4 I'm sure of it.

Yea i can see it coming too. But at least it will be an interesting real challenge.. not like the boring ones like repair 20 gens, break 50 pallets or kick 50 gens.. i hate those. Oh an the ones that depends on others escaping an you have to escape after them, really hard in SoloQ.

  • lol looks like someone need to do some bug fixing.

  • Idk if its because i returned from a long break of the game but i noticed or it looks to me that Kate footsteeps sound different and louder.

    Its only my imagination?

Idk about the skins you say.. Kate is one of my favorite survivors, so i will check her now.

The emblem system...didn't work. They put all that work into something that was broken from word 'go'.

It capped out so low and was so easy to smurf on that people were able to 100 win streaks with no addons on pre rework Plague, and even Fog Whisperers admitted to deranking to stomp newbies.

It just needed more work, a few tweaks. But the devs decided to go the easy way.. kills and escapes like if this was some generic competitive shooter..

Which btw let me say that this turn the game had was a pretty toxic one, and with toxic i mean unhealthy for the game.. it changed the way people play the game a lot and not for good.

    Continuing off of this...

...wouldn't the system being able to so accurately indicate match outcome actually be indicative of a massive flaw in the system? IE it matching people of vastly different skill being so often that yeah...no ######### it's going to predict the outcome. If it was a functional system, it would successfully predict match outcome far less often since the skill of the players in a match should be around equal, making it almost a coin toss each match. Obviously not a true 50/50, but still.

Am I crazy or did Patrick pat himself on the back for something that's still a complete loss for him and the system he wants to peddle?

They scrapped the elaborated emblem system which took years of work that measured every skill you can develop at the game (the 4 emblems for survivor and killer)

With something more simplistic (SBMM) which measure ""Skill"" by only kills and escapes.

When you look at it this way, you can't expect SBMM to be better. For me its not only worse but also fails at measure skill cause kills and escapes its a pretty vague condition to measure a matchmaking for this game. Cause kills and escapes do not depend only on you but mostly on others.

You think the old emblem system was better? I remember regularly being matched with survivors that had 80 hours. I have 2000.

Yes it was better, it also had its flaws. But i could escape a lot more as survivor with the old MM because the survivors i was being matched were more consistent in skill. Now you almost always get bots as teammates.. before it was maybe 2 or 3 times in 10 games.

And as a killer it was more chill also. Now its SWF most of the times. My emblem system experience was much better when you compare it to this SBMM.

It was not perfect i know, and people demanded something better and new (including myself). But it didn't go well imo. SBMM is just worse.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773984#Comment_2773984

    Not from my experiences.

Ranks were awful for someone just starting out. Literally every game was either a smurf with multiple hundreds of hours more than me, a SWF of smurfs or just a SWF of purple and red ranks. The games where I actually felt like I had a chance were in the minority.

Right now, we are waiting on the next step of SBMM changes, which should tweak things so that when there aren't many killers on or when lobby dodges happen we don't get thrown to the wolves.

What you are describing still happens a lot. And in both sides.. Killers with 2k hours or considerably more skill that the team you get are still a thing.

I have more than 2k hours and i still get baby dwights with vanilla outfits that DC or go AFK after getting hook.. From my experience SBMM did not change a thing other than making it worse.

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773984#Comment_2773984

It was for me. Almost all of my games ended up being 2Ks when it first came out.

Thats the big flaw of this new MM. You have to survive, if not even if you are the best of the team, it means nothing to this SBMM and it pair you more and more with potatoes. While with the old MM skill was measured by emblems which was more accurate.

  • Was it working at some point? i think not, the old MM was much better. The new one did nothing more than make SoloQ miserable, and increase the frequency of SWF squads while playing killer.

    Not disingenuous in the least.

We see these threads multiple times a day.

"I don't like playing against Demogorgon, nerf him".

"Artist is anti fun, nerf her".

Now, you are asking BHVR to take something away that people were both excited for and paid real money for...because you find it difficult to face in low MMR solo queue.

BHVR say lots of things in patch notes. Many do not go live. My guess is having the box be solvable with almost no risk or attention needed was too big of a nerf, on top of gutting most of his good addons. In this case, I'm also not sure what they said was what you think they said.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773814#Comment_2773814

Really? I played a handful of survivor games earlier on, saw 2 Cenobites, both got 4 outed.

I'm also not sure what you mean by those perks.

Pop isn't great on Cenobite. He thrives on escalating pressure, so you want hexes.

DMS is incredibly mediocre on Cenobite. Even reworked, the only killers I can think of that can do well with it are Doctor and Artist. It's also really easy to spot once it's in play.

Ruin Undying is the established meta for killers and has been for a long time.

Haunted Grounds...is okay on Cenobite, but you'd usually see it on killers with rapid movement or traversal abilities.

Don't be scared of Cenobites running those. Be scared of Cenobites with...other perks that I'm keeping to myself until my little challenge is over.

A few tricks to help you:

    • Don't immediately go and solve the box, unless a hunt is really close. Wait for someone else to be chased. Take it somewhere near a pallet or a vault in case he teleports.
    • Have a buddy break your chains for you, or use objects. He may as well not have a power in indoor maps.
    • Loop him aggressively. I think one of the big reasons that survivors QQ about him is that he's excellent against people that just hold W. If he chains you in the open, he'll catch up fast.
    • He's basically an M1 killer with a weak anti loop. Treat him as you would similar killers.

There. That should win you half the battle easily.

Yep it was a lot of pinheads today probably because of the fixed voice lines. With the build i described and similar ones, like undying, haunted, obviously franklin demise, Dead man or pop and BBQ instead of haunted and undying.

But all of them used Dead man Switch and It worked really well for them cause it won't allow me or my team to finish anything. With chains almost always up you have to let go the gen or if hes coming directly to you.

So there really was nothing we could about that. And honestly the teams i got weren't bad in my soloQ they could loop the killer a bit. the problem is that it was impossible to repair.

  • I feel you, as soloQ i faced 8 Pinheads today 7 of them did 4k with 3 to 5 gens with little effort. Only 1 did a 2k and only because he had an awful build.

The thing with Pinhead is that his passive is overly opressive when also using slowdown builds. I and my team found it literaly imposible to repair a thing.

Chains are constantly making it near imposible to repair even if you are always going to solve the puzzle, the timer is very short.. and when you think you could do something he also have the new popular "Dead man Switch" alonside with "undying", "pop", "ruin" or "haunted grounds". This build with him is ez wins almost guaranteed.

  • Besides that not much people play killer lately. I end facing the same killers over and over and more than one time in the day..

  • Idk for the moment im also saving my shards for next chapters, i could buy Jonah but the perks don't really appeal to me.. I have every character with the exception of him and Pinhead.

  • I saw one survivor escape with 81k in one of my games yesterday, a pity i didn't screenshot 😐️

  • @bm33 said:

I'm guessing for anyone that doesn't get their shards after 24 hours they will probably be told to contact support.

I wonder why they didn't deliver the shard to all users at the same time.. i tried re opening the game a few hours ago and nothing. And now i tried again and boom got my 6k shard and reach 50k πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰

Interesting i manage to escape with it but without being enchanted because i had no idea that i had to go the basement first, it gives nothing that way.

There are a lot of franklin demise pinheads today so after realizing the basement thing i couldn't escape with it either. But i guess i didn't miss much only a few BP. It would be much harder if you also had to escape, im glad it wasn't required.

I thought map size was the issue! That just proves my point

Its because dead dawn saloon have very strong loops. I think its the only tiny map that favor survivors if they know how to use it correctly.

Midwich is also small but its more killer sided because the loops suck.

I really recommend kindred. I can feel the change in the air once my team has a visual of what the others are doing. Suddenly, they are more focused and work better as a team. Not always of course, but it really helps a lot (also it's always nice to see if a killer is camping and if anyone is going for the save, or which gens are worked on or abandoned because of a chase). But tbf I'm a sucker for context and overview. I run bond + kindred for that, and borrowed time + we'll make it to make the saves as quick and painless as possible. I'm happy when someone brings CoH. I don't even bother with other perks anymore, which is sad but it feels bad not having the overview of what the others are doing / not doing and not having BT just feels awful. Left behind is a nice perk to have though, in these trying times...

Yep kindred its not bad but other than that i usually don't equip support perks because if your team don't know how to loop they will get downed fast anyway. I'm confident with just never hook farming and if the killer its coming for the hook i just tank the hit, i don't find BT really a must unless the killer make a campfire near the hook and start making marshmallows πŸ˜‚

I mean I lost 3 gens in less than 3 mins on dead dawg saloon, the best map for killer, small map, is it really a map issue or an objective issue? Think about it. It's so easy to do a gen that you just have to hold a button and that's enough to make a killer sweat. It's just a lazy idea of an objective

Dead dawn saloon the best map for killer? lol maybe for a nurse.. that map is atrocious as killer especially if you are playing with slow killers.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2771590#Comment_2771590

I feel that. I'm at the point where if I don't single handedly do three gens on top of making saves and being chased, we don't have a chance. I don't even mind dying to a good killer. Not to be arrogant, but it's honestly rare. Most of the time I die, it's because teammates just will not play.

Its definitely hard to escape as a soloQ because as you said you have to repair at least 3 gens, unhook and loop the killer. Pretty much everything lol

Trying builds i even made one for only repairing with Kate for soloQ with "Build to Last+Fast track+Stake out+Resilience" and a green toolbox. Its not bad.. but even if you manage to repair 2 or 3 and even 4, you need your team to finish all gens, and if they are complete potatoes... not much can be done.

So im starting to give a good look to "Left behind" and "Wake up" because i tend to be most of the times the last survivor alive. But i wish i had not do use those perks. I want a better and working matchmaking, not this joke.

  • @dugman said:

I honestly think the game would be better off if they just removed map offerings altogether.

Idk... i got 4 midwich today out of 10 games and 3 was consecutive ones, all without offerings and 2 against nurses lol. When that happens you wish you had map offerings.

  • Nemesis zombies AI its smarter than the team i get in soloQ sometimes.. i feel you.

SBMM did nothing more than ruin the game. Because escaping doesn't mean skill, its purely luck. You need a good team to escape, otherwise no matter what you do its impossible, other than having again also luck if you find the hatch.

And even if you die in 20 matches an escape only 5 you don't get worse killers, you still get killers that are much better than the team you get as survivor. So SBMM its not only worse than the old MM but also it doesn't work correctly.

The old MM was much better. I was matched with people of my skill with it (most of times) it also had its flaws, but compared to SBMM it was 10 times better. I wish they revert this crap someday and realize that it's one of the things that is slowly killing the game.

  • SBMM and the last patches are the worse things that happened to DBD.

Broken perks and validations that ######### the killers and force them to tunnel, camp, etc.

SBMM that ######### soloQ players. I played 10 games today for the event rewards and i could escape only 2 times because my team has always the IQ of a Lemming.

Meanwhile the only players allowed to have fun are SWF. This is the new dbd sadly.

  • I fear more about power struggle, 15% wiggle progress only its a huge buff because you can't instantly pick up a survivor if he is in a pallet, you have to check if their friends are around and if they have flashlights, and by that time the survivor already have the perk charged. This make it impossible for the killer to hook someone if hes facing a tryhard team.

  • Zombies get stuck on everything, in hooks, rocks.. i don't understand the logic behind the nerf. Could be that they think the AI is wonderful because they don't play their own game? lol

  • @bm33 said:

They seem to rely alot on stats saying something is fine while ignoring the player base going "this isn't fun, it's encouraging unfun gameplay."

It'd be like a chef giving you something that has all the nutrition you need but ignoring people when they say "this doesn't taste good, it needs more flavor."

Yea this is the "logic" they apply most of the times sadly. That and the wrong idea of "balance" the game around low SBMM players, old grey ranks, which completely ruins the experience for high SBMM.

  • I agree the game gets old and boring after thousands of hours but because the devs don't have the courage to change the core mechanics. For example, there is nothing more boring than holding M1 on a generator and for some reason the devs don't change it to something more fun and dynamic.

A treasure hunt would be more fun, having to find parts around the map to fix gens, more chances to meet the killer in the process. I would be 10 times better, but they retain to the old boring mechanic they started with.

  • I wish i could play legion or pig, but ask the devs why they are so into reducing the viable killer roster after every update.. They killed most M1 killers with CoH and DH validation.

Its like they despise their own game or never play it, because no one that plays the game would have given green light to changes like this.

  • "Nerfed" Sure.. Be honest and think about it, it won't even be noticeable, that's not what CoH needed. It needs to be completely changed.

  • In just one word "Pointless" just like what they plan to do with leatherface mask. It won't solve anything.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Wont prevent Killers from mass-opening Threads to nerf every Survivor-Perk in existence. :]

Sure.. because a 25% its a "huge" nerf πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ meanwhile it can still be combined with other perks, medkits and it can be infinitely relit wich is the MAIN issue of this broken perk. Poor, poor survivors.. they are a little less broken now but still broken 🀣

  • @Mister_xD said:

i cant speak for others, but i can assure you that i, as a Killermain, quit in August when they released MMR.

it was supposed to just be a bit of a break at first until i got the motivation to play this game back and ended with me uninstalling the game in December after literally not touching it, nor wanting to, ever since i started that break.

and yes, the primary reason for that was the introduction of the MMR system (though more things kept comming that drove me away further afterwards (NFT controversy, DDOS attacks, the cheater issue, boon perks and the Deathslinger gutting)).

of course that covers just me, but if a game loses 18% of its playerbase in a single month (and has failed to recover from that loss ever since), then that suggests that something has happened in this month that a LOT of people were not happy with.

regardless of whether that may have been more killer or more survivor players, this should be a huge red flag to BHVR and it astounds me how they have kept doubling down on that decision ever since - especially since, from what i experienced, a vast majority of the people that didnt quit over it also dont like it.

Most of my old friends that used to play dbd from long ago like me, don't play it anymore. The only people i see today is new players that mostly play swf and killer very casually.

The main reason of why we stopped to play was because the devs failed to refresh the game and give it new modes or big fun changes, they are stubborn and don't want to change the boring core mechanics. After playing for thousands of hours you get bored of the same over and over. The boons, validations and all that crap was just the cherry in top of the cake to say "ok until here".

  • @gendoss said:

We have BBQs with chili, puddings as dessert, and we like to play "put the tail to 🐷"

    πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Now jokes aside, its good for everyone to either take a break or not play for a very long time if not having fun. Im a dbd player since 2016 and after playing 2200 Hours... with the current state of the game i don't find it entertaining anymore and its mostly an stressful boring experience.

I used to have neck pain, and it was because of DBD.. but not for playing long hours session because i only have 2200 hours in 6 years which is not much.. but because the game tenses your nerves a lot even if you play only 1 or 2 hours a day. So i recommend all to prioritize their health. I know that i won't play again until serious changes are made to the game but for the ones that are stubborn, if you are not having a good time anymore, just don't play or take a break, your body and mind will be thankful.

I don't have data but I can explain why its a problem

The reason why is because its the only exhaustion perk that has a very easily accessible condition, and that's being injured. It also allows Survivors to play a "more risk, more reward" play style without actually involving any risk, only the reward. A good Survivor with Dead Hard is nasty, the same can only really be said with Sprint Burst but the difference is the timing. With Sprint Burst you almost have to go out of your way to 99 it, some times you have it almost ready and the killer is coming and you can save it during chase but thats more luck than skill.

I personally don't think Dead Hard is as big of an issue as people make it out to be, but I do still think its an issue.

He's just teasing you. There no need for any data to know that DH is over used and that its broken as #########. But im pretty sure the devs HAVE the data.. So its simply a matter of time that a nerf will arrive.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/304078/when-are-boon-totems-getting-nerfed

Because killers are still stomping survivors left and right, kill rates are above 50% and Otz experiment showed that killers can 3K + perk/addonless.

Just say you want your easy 4k, come on

    1. He plays DBD for a living so he doesn't represent even a half of the killer playerbase.
    2. You misunderstood the point of that challenge.
    3. The results does not show that killers are op or that DBD is killer sided or survivor side. It shows that the game favors the side wich play more scummy with every advantage they can use.

That being said the game its not balanced and need things to be tweaked like boons and DH.

  • Many times, you start typing and then realize it doesn't worth the effort. Its a pretty common thing to happen.

Not actually. Learning her is hard for sure but DbD is not Souls-like game. Just you need to pratice her more than other killers. When you learn how to blink and mindgames, she is not hard anymore. And learning her is rewarding you so much.

She's always hard to play, and if you face survivors that know how to play against her (which there are many) it's even harder.

AND lets not even talk about how DH validation cuck her and how CoH destroy the little pressure you can do.

As a nurse its always 3 health states to take off.. The ones that say she needs a nerf clearly don't play her at all.

If you manage to get 4k or 3k as a nurse its because you slug a lot, sweat a lot, and of course the survivors weren't good enough. Otherwise the result its very different.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 27
