  • heh. fair enough. I thought it was interesting. Thanks!

Ruin lasts until the end of a match somewhere around 50% of the time, last I checked. So no, it's not instantly cleansed every game. :)

We were testing one of the upcoming Killers, who was prototyped on an old build. Ruin was chosen, and it was the old one. Oh man I'm so glad we fixed this thing. It's way better now.

As a survivor I enjoy it. Playing as a killer I really do NOT like it. I feel as though With RUIN and Thana nerfed, we are relying more with the Core actions of the players and less impact of the killer's perks on-hand. If you want to really change the dynamics of the game. Your locator perks should be using a "tick" or "token" as you call them on BBQ, Nurses and Whispers to change the dynamics of the game MORE.

With killers learning to ONLY rely on locator and "Radar" perks. They are complaining that SWF and 1-6s are too powerful for them simply because they rely on perks that do NOT contribute to the chases.

The chases and the perks go hand in hand. If the killer is busy in a chase, they only take on 1 survivor (normally) so this means any one of the survivors tackling the generators has nothing slowing them down. RUIN and Thana did just that.

Thana forces players to find their team mates and HEAL them. While HEX Ruin, forced players to find the totem before the game could begin. We know that RUIN was meta, and it is no longer as such. So what can we do here to slow down the game or make better impacts to the chases, so killers can control the map more.

An example of the killer right now is : "The mall cop chasing the shop lifter". The survivors are trying to steal those generators away from the killer, and the killer has to chase them down. There is only 1 killer on each map, so that is the question. :)

Bullying, genrush, YouTubers lie about the game , killers rank 15 Vs survivors rank 1...

360 in ps4 is broken , cause auto aim , auto aim gets crazy and don't let you take aim on survivor ...

Queue of 30 min to play as a survivor ...

Devs need to do something ...

Devs get bots in rank 1 dbd ...

I have a HUGE list of perks that are crossed out and I do not find them (the perks) useful in this game when it comes to playing against Rank 1s. I get up to 6 and 8 before rank reset and it seams like there really isn't much that contributes to the match in perks. it becomes all about the actual playing and the perks on hand really aren't that powerful anymore.

I've always wished that BRUTAL STRENGTH was better again, as well as Thana. As a person reaches these ranks the killer goes from a 'big and scary monster" to a "mall cop chasing a shoplifter" kind of thing.

  • I main'd as this killer for a couple of years. I moved on to "The Plague" the doctor doesn't have the same impact in matches.

  • I wish this had POLL mechanics here. BECAUSE IT DOES NEED TO BE REMOVED!

    +1

    Thank you!!

It's your birthday! And you decide to throw a party. The Entity decides to reward your dedication to this game by offering you the chance to invite one Killer. So... who shall it be?

Legion, because hes the butt of every joke. and i want it to be a party. 😎

You're on the DBD forum, but that doesn't necessarily mean you prefer/red Dead By Daylight over Friday 13th: The Game. I'm interested to know how people feel.

Imagine if Friday 13th never had the lawsuit or had overcome it. Or has DBD excelled and become better than F13 ever was?

Which do you believe was the best?

Friday the 13th really did bring the Genre FIRST into the light.

NOED is by far the worst perk in the game and any killer who uses it is just so bad, you shouldn't be able to win because you couldn't confirm a kill the whole match. Survivors shouldn't be punished for actually doing a good job and getting to end game - will it ever be removed or changed?

also any killer mains who reply to this defending NOED your comment is being overlooked I don't associate with negative vibes

TOO LATE the negative energy has entered the thread

NOED punishes players for not taking the extra step to do one other objective and that is CLEANSING all dry bones totems on the map. IMO it should be STRONGER, so if it was combined with WARDEN and NOED's original effect. it just might begin to force players to DO the extra objective in the game. I usually keep it on hand and run it, because more survivors avoid doing their jobs.

    • Do generators
    • Cleanse dry totems
    • Rescue survivors (optional)
    • Run away from the killer

If a killer uses a bot and you report them for exploits is it acted upon? vac bans? what happens?

How would you know if the killer was a bot? There are some really bad players that seam like bots. and others that just like to swing at the air for no reason, as well as players that mess around and like to have fun. while making cheesy utube videos. :P

Windows aren't meant to make you immune to any damage. They are a hole in the wall, after all, not a magic portal that blocks attacks. If you are within range of an attack, it is totally normal to get hit through it.

That said though, if you're getting hit significantly after vaulting, that is usually down to latency. Server side hit validation is on the way, and it should help with that. Basically the servers checks where everyone was when the killer says, "I hit that guy". If it turns out the killer was actually too far away to hit them, it cancels that hit. In short, if someone has a bad connection, the game stops trusting what they see.

I do wish they would look MORE at vault hits and pallet hits. It seams to be the problem this game faces since Day one. Sometimes it really enrages me that on my screen a killer NEVER struck me, but somehow on their screen it was a "hit".

    • The killer sees a strike they landed on the survivor that didn't count.
    • The survivors sees a strike that should have missed, but still counted.

With this game that has the standard of "2 strikes defeat a player" and in some cases 1, it is much more noticeable. In FPS games, not so much, because of player health bars.

  • LOL samination's videos of Legion, lolz. feral frenzy is OP against low rank teams, higher rank.. lol no.

  • Survey works if the players aren't actively trying to provoke you into chases. However it wont play out until late game, and a team of survivors in Voice comms pretty much makes it useless. since they will be telling their friends when you LEAVE the generator, and when you go back. So they could keep tapping the generator. Even with regression perks on such as Ruin, survey and overcharge. it makes long-game, and once you are in the dreaded "3-gen lock" one person breaks off, destroys your ruin, its GG.

The only thing you could HOPE for is the totem spawning into that cluster of generators. Ruin can be either too strong or too weak. If you play a game of "guard the totem" with the survivors. they essentially could finish everything around you and the totem you just protected all game, did nothing, because nobody was hung.

  • I think it would be cool that at least the person playing as killer could play as the entity. maybe what happens is make it a rando event or something that the game chooses to enhance this as a "boss fight" only a player can take control. It would require COOL down abilities and a much longer trial. in order to make it stressful and challenging. A large map that is round-like.

    • The entity is a centralized being. such as a tree of VINES and thorns.
    • The central tree has an EYE (okay we know, LORD of the rings), still a scary thing.
    • Tendrils can FIRE up through the ground.
    • Tendrils can descend from the sky.
    • immobilizes a player, they have to pry the player from the grasp of the entity (cool down ability).
    • Thrash the player against ground and objects.
    • complete objectives in order to finish the trial.
    • Dark map, fog.
    • 4 or 5 abilities and 2 special attacks.
    • lockers would have to be utilized for attack avoidance. as well as other mechanics to provide the player with a way to survive.
    • Damage meters for players?

Trial thoughts: Another cool effect would be a bright light from the sky, and the entity would be pulling souls down from the sky every so many minutes, putting them into chambers and survivors would have to bust OUT the souls from these vessels. earn points and they would go back "up" and out. The survivors de-power the entity by freeing these souls, as it feasts off of them.

Lore THEORY: you have somehow found a way into the entity's resting layer, battle the entity as it is pulling souls from the world you once knew, into it's own trial of terror and torture. Free the other poor souls in this trial, and stop the entity, at least. for now.

Im just saying this needs to be the ultimate trial. It might not be a "game ending" scenario, but at least the survivors have saved the few, for now.

  • "slugged survivors" is one of those things where the devs have NEVER properly addressed this IMO.

If all 4 survivors have ZERO cheese perks to get back up. and the killer decides after downing all 4. They can walk away. I'd guess this could be a form of scummy, SOFT griefing players. Since the bleedout timers can take FOREVER. or if a person has to wait for the timer, to avoid an EXIT PENALTY.

Essentially a person has to sit there doing nothing after fully healed up and crawling for a very long time, or back in the day. we'd all just press 'EXIT MATCH'. and the killer would not get their hooking points. Since it taught killers to just clean up the map and be done.

    -----

From the killer's point of view. There are survivors out there whom play VERY strong, and the killer is in a position where they know DS can be tripped. along with other escape mechanics in the game. so in order to secure a 4-man. They have to slug.

    ----------------

IMO Unbreakable should have just been a standard game mechanic. So killers have to actually WORK for their kill.

  • I've thought about this from both sides and different thoughts on a breakable Windowsill frame. The fact of the matter is. most of those killers vaulting over, are VERY heavy people. I know that jungle gyms are ideal safety nets for survivors. Since they have ZERO weapons.

The other thing to think about is how long a survivor can loop through windows until the zone is blocked for them. with the thought of making an area no longer safe for the survivor.

The problem is though, under the breakable window frame idea. Once that window is used up. It is gone.

For me, it is a back and fourth idea. and im the one that thought this up :P

  • steam has a "recently played with feature". But with the new system here on DBD it is much more difficult to access the player's data. So you have to click their name, in-game in the post-match screen and it will take you to their steam profile.

Then from there you can REPORT the player on Valve and directly handle it that way. I certainly DO, wish Behavior interactive would join us over on Source Dedicated Servers (and welcome them to do just that).

With Steam server stuff. The tools we have are amazing. They have BAN LISTS across multiple networks. so that TROUBLED player that loves to cheat, is banned not just on ONE title, but anyone whom chooses to participate in cheating can be BLACKLISTED across multiple games.

It doesn't sound fun, but if people are using the Valve network to cheat. we don't want players in our community that cheat. That is Accountability at its strongest.

Some of the other moderation scripts ran on the server to determine how far back that player was BANNED. If that person received a VAC in another game, they could be barred from the server.

An OLD server MOTG for offenders:

"ACCESS DENIED - You have a VAC ban on record across multiple games and must wait X amount of days and/or hours before it clears, in order to access our systems"

I get it. Players want a SECOND chance and deserve it. But cheating is not right.

    -----------

For abusers we simply MUTED the account and were done. It had stacking penalties. People kept their access to the game. No players that were out-raged would DOS us and life was good. If players wanted to appeal their mute. they could email the server mods. None of this total game-ban access. I'd only perma ban someone if it was a really gross unlawful statement or a threat.

  • tbh it is a good map. any NEW map is a GOOD map. It just means that a person has to break their habits and re-learn.

  • heh really awesome! Ace reminds me of an 80s used car salesman ;P

  • it is quite something to discuss this! IDK with the way games are online and outdated networks. It really should be on the table for discussion.

  • Yeah that really does sound like a good suggestion, Thank you!

  • I play against Red and purple Rank survivors . (as killer)

Removing SWF would remove interest for other players. So it does have to remain. The thing that hurts in SWF is the handicapping that isn't there. SWF don't agree. But SWF also do have to realize that they need killers to HAVE a match. So both sides need to be happy. (somewhat).

    • Killers need to feel as though they have some sort of map control at all times. If a killer is in a chase. The other 3 players are working on generators. Fair.
    • Killers have to work extremely hard to catch those survivors. The Dynamics change because a killer has to resort to "Sheep herding". and often even that cant always be done. So a killer has to get into a chase, quickly drop out. Control the generator. Get back into another chase and cannot be in 3 places at once!
    • Killer should be able to use more than just pink Add-ons to feel somewhat effective against SWF.

At Red and Purple ranks playing killer feels more like "mall cop simulator". Than a hacker-slasher game. A person can go through 90% of their total unlocked perks for killer and check those perks off as "useless". and contributes nothing to playing against SWF or the groups of Reds n purples.

As we move down into the lower ranks. The people that play in those ranks feel cheated. They have to be able to pick up the game and enjoy it vs finding certain perks that are so Over-powered by the killer, that they lose interest and find another game title to play.

  • I have a friend whom mains the pig and out of frustration they finally quit playing. Because they were all about the Saw Franchise. The character's charge feels very clunky and almost like a Billy Charge. (lolz). The bear trap has balance issues. Low ranks cannot play through it, high ranks ignore it.

    • Ticking timer from the moment the helmet goes ON. - Pressures players to unhook their team mates fast. VERY OP.
    • Add-ons need a revision.
  • Borrowed time being nerfed and changed (same thing) has not helped the camping situation at all.

Camping is flat-out bad behavior and is a cheep tactic just like slugging. (never picking up a survivor). This game's had 4 years to address this. With no results. I guess players just get mad and find other games to play. It is unfortunate.

  • Yeah, I wasn't sure what people thought of this. It was just an idea. Both sides of the feedback are really good!

  • Here would be an old screenshot of the game , and an example of what I am talking about. Where the killer could bust the wall beneath the window and/or the window becomes weak as players vault over it. Which the point becomes no longer usable.

    Good/Bad idea. Discuss!

    dbd example.jpg

  • I gotta agree with Peanits here. IMO it is a decent perk as it teaches survivors not to body block or punishes them for doing so. Just like Mad Grit does. I'd combine the 2 together along with Rancor. If you are really bored and want some extra "cheese" mix it up with Warden or NOED.

    • Penance
    • NOED
    • WARDEN
    • RANCOR
    • MAD GRIT.

just mix n match! I wish they would raise the efficacy of THANA because it really was a good perk. Or I would add that to the list.

  • There really isn't a smurff thing in this game. We have rank reset every month or so. They Do this on the 13th if I recall right. What happens is everyone has to climb from the very bottom to the top again. So a person will run across players that might not have played in a awhile and then they have to work their way up again.

Part of Rank rest just means that as the players filter on, it takes about a week for the system to normalize. Sometimes longer. If they stagnate the ranks it makes the game significantly worse. It has the pros and cons. But overall I guess it is better than some games that lock the ranks down so nobody can enjoy themselves.

  • All Bubba's are good for is camping. Sorry. maybe if he was more like the PLAGUE where she has to deal with FOUNTAINS to power-up this would be a good balance.

Instead of fountains. MAYBE a GAS CAN he has to pull OUT of a locker and refuel his chain saw. lol jk. plz dont flame 🤣

  • Old doctor was MUCH more fun and oppressive to play as. He really could be countered by GOOD survivors though. To me, in his First iteration he felt like an amazing killer to play as. Since he threw madness everywhere at all times.

My only suggestion would have been for the team to have considered a way for survivors to completely drop out of madness Tier 1. Static shocks did NOTHING to players other than location reveals, screaming and interrupt actions. I felt he could do a good job at pallet loops and stopped window vaults much better back then. Than now.

Honestly though: Madness didn't do much other than create a few EASY skill checks.

  • Rage for me:

1 ) game crashes for no reason. No Debug menu shows up.

2 ) killers using Locator perks.

3 ) Survivors body blocking other survivors.

4 ) Survivors pulling other survivors down infront of the killer.

5 ) Survivors that add the killer as a friend on steam and SELL out their team mates in Discord.

    6 ) Hatch closing.

  • It is a two way street.

"My team is acting like potatoes and the match is over with because they aren't going to work together, help one another or participate in the match." I Quit."

Since DC penalties was put in. People got what they wanted. A system which is broken. I played this game in 2017, 2018 and 2019 more than i ever should have. When Hatch closing become a thing. The noticeable trend of survivors giving up much faster, was VERY noticeable. I observed this trend as a Killer and as a Survivor. This just isn't true for Dead By Daylight, but all online games. When the player feels that they have no tools to use if their team is a bad one or the match is going to be a loss. They aren't bad players. They are experienced enough to know when things are NOT going to turn out for a win.

  • I've been grinding the game for awhile, but I do feel as though it feels "TOO grindy". It becomes an MMO the more time a player has to grind to unlock perks that are good.

The thing is.... the game doesn't have much of a dynamic shift between the physical aspects of it and the skill Aspects. It is the same maps, number of generators, hooks and tasks to complete on the map So there is basically no difference between Rank 1 and Rank 20 other than just how fast players can get their stuff done and manage to stay alive.

  • I gotta agree with Peanits here. The move was needed. But the DC "stuff" that is ANOTHER story.

  • Hooks have been a major problem in the game when there are too many of them. With the last patchings of this game from 2018 there seams to be MORE hooks on the map and it makes struggling pointless compared to what it use to be. I get that it helped make body-blocking less effective but there needs to be some "give" to both sides.

Monster's shrine (LOL). Is only useful for Reclusive basement builds

    • MS
    • Agitation
    • Iron Grasp ( Maybe the use of "Mad Grit")
    • Whispers or Territorial

  • Be careful what you wish for. Billy's were fun before. A person could juke them all day. After the re-work. There is no juking of them anymore.

The pig's add-ons need some reworks.

  • There use to be alot more out there streaming the game. DC penalties have been a real turn-off for streamers now these days.

We really just need a Casual play mode at this point. WITHOUT the penalties.

  • I'd just be happy the killer is being polite and showing mercy upon the survivors. Anyone complaining about free points, is like the person that complains that they just won the State lottery...

  • It would be nice if they consider only a Green mori system and Allow only the Hex Devour to remain. That way it does allow survivors to counter and apply pressure. Maybe if they backed off the required hooks by 1. It would pan out for Red and Purple ranks. It still might feel too Oppressive against Yellow, Gray and Green ranks.

  • Totems are weak and useless in Purple and Red ranks. WHen it comes to the Yellow Ranks and down into Gray. They are VERY OP.

  • Reply to post:

Angry mobs are forming because of

    • DC Penalty
    • Items completely ruined
    • No fixes to campers abusing DC penalty
    • pallet fort issues im hearing?
  • A bunch of us would like our money back after DC penalties were put in. The way they were. I mean grats on 4 years of the game. But the only 2 1/2-3 have been play-able :(

  • Let me put it to you this way. Players want others that rage-leave a match to STOP this type of behavior. At some point. all computers and their networks fail.

Which I can already tell you a relative of mine whom WORKED in a very nice position at a VERY majorly nice computer company that has been around since before the 80s and makes some extremely high-end equipment. He has some VERY harsh and condescending words about those whom host games and do NOT grasp the concept of computer systems. (Which would be nice if they would ever share the wealth).

    -----------------------

This is a game that shouldn't have more than maybe a 5 or 10 minute penalty max and the stacking stuff shouldn't exist. All of the network systems that exist in the world aren't some high end fiber connections going everywhere, at ALL points. There is old copper on most of these networks and only the big cities have decent connection.

Let me put to everyone that lives outside of a city. When you live in a rural setting. There is two things. Work and sleep. Very boring life. Video games are great, because it gives our miserable lives something else to do. I'd say Mario and Zelda, followed by Sonic are the greatest gifts to Rural dwellers. Then the advent of online gaming and the good fellows whom quickly started getting some connections out to farms.

  • Good old penalties discussion. How nobody understands how network systems work and if you understand what ECC RAM is, plus how to configure Fibre Channel systems, to connect up with a Plasmon DATA disk library, I might give a +1 .... A plus 10 if you can Load Balance a server cluster WITHOUT the use of Virtual Machine software 🤣

The sad aspect is. The penalty is HARSH. Some areas of the World have GOOD, solid network systems and others do NOT. I live by a MASSIVE data drop, yet my ISP won't buy into the lines that have good, amazing tried n tested lines. Instead they use OLD Cisco switches in a small 8x8 building in the middle of nowhere, and refuse to tap those newer lines and IF I cannot get a good, solid connection. I lose my connection and pretty soon. My right to use this game.

Fair? I mean you might think it should be. But what isn't fair is. I bought the game BEFORE the rules changes went into effect. And if I pressure my ISP for equipment changes and upgrades in a CIVIL MANNER. It wont happen anytime soon. Regardless.

Here is an IDEA - (remember, the best solutions are peaceful solutions eh?) --- wait for it..

    SUGGESTION:

    OPEN Q

The Mode where everyone accepts what happens...

Yes, Really. With people running this game on run-down laptops, seedy Wifi Connections and old trunk lines that the ISP tapped into. OPEN Q would be great! And it provides BEHAVIOR INTERACTIVE what we call in the world of business 'INSURANCE". Preventing another "big kid on the block" from making a knock-off 4 v1 horror, survival video game that becomes another "K-mart vs Walmart" instance.

The added bonus.. If a player(s) drop. Each slot has a BOT put in its place by the game. It isn't hard to program a Jake that sits by the exit gate and can either HEAL you if you walk by, or it uses the "Squat command" on a spam rotation. The REAL Dead By Daylight experience. WITH an added "Get gud" that it puts in chatline, post-match message.

    ~ You are welcome! ~ 😎

  • "NOPE'ING" from a match is common in ALL online video games. it is just part of the Online Culture. Cause = Effect.

I don't remember this game having drastic issues of abandonment before 2019 started. Then the influx just happened around "certain patches". Where the problems spiraled out of control.

Game companies that bust players for every facet of minor-negative infractions eventually go Under or less people come to play the game daily. If your team mate leaves the match. They are a bad person. If your team mate dies on the hook. There is zero difference. They are eliminated from the match either way.

The effect should be looked at less, and the Cause should be looked at MORE. With the shift of online gaming culture and player attitude towards a game. Generally this means that the shift of respect has gone away from the game or the players around them. Hence why quality of matches are going DOWN. Instead of UP.

    -----

If I was to look at this from a Social aspect. VS what a person thinks they see. I would see this as an Issue where something has changed in the game and has directly caused players to behave this way MORE, now in the past year. Than it has before. 2018 and 2017 this game was at its prime. I LOVED this game to its fullest and really had an amazing time.

2019 through into 2020. I dont like this game. But would LOVE to play what this game was in 2018 and 2017 again. Heck. i'd even BUY into being able to play that way again. I had ALOT OF fun and would be MORE than happy to spend mindless hours again in my life. PLAYING all day, again.

AS for the "why" I dont. I've said it before. But the answer itself will become VERY apparent just by discovery in itself.

"Why is your team mate taking the easy way out from the hook? and that shall be your answer.

  • Cheating is just like Computer viruses. There is a 2-way street for all things built by a computer technician. Hence why NSA and U.S. DOD are always actively trying to research new Cryptology methods. Wireless is an example of failing security ;).

I'd be more concerned about dev responses on ways to solve game mechanics issues that have gone unpatched since Launch.

  • I guess... (these wont be in order )

Well I guess I never had issues playing against Survivors with exhaustion status perks.

As for NO endgame collapse. I think if they wanted to prevent prolongued games. It could have been a LONG timer that started out from the begining of the match and perhaps set it for 45-60 minutes? Hunt: Showdown?

Original BRUTAL STRENGTH was actually fairly good. Nerfing and increasing it does change the effectiveness of a pallet loop's ability. Survivors lost quite a few safety pallets in recent changes and it would have saved the devs time by increasing the perk's effectiveness, vs having to go in and re-code the game for pallets.

Insta-heals made for really good plays for a survivor and punished a killer in some aspects.

I dont feel the doctor is strong by any means now. The old DOC felt more "cohesive" and a threat to play as. (imo).

11 got erased. It was a bad complaint. I forgot to re-number :P.

24 ) - Reply. Sandbaggers are players that have a fellow team mate and tries to block them from moving. Especially around Tile-walls, area of the map, especially on McMillan Estate on the side of a generator. There are glitches where a player can position themselves next to that team mate and AFK. The Person then is trapped and either has to wait for the killer to take them, OR in some of the matches i've had the killer just leave them there. The one person cannot move.

Borrowed time was amazing for the fact that if players could not rescue their team mates due to a camping killer. It helped pull them away from the killer. If the original perk was being used. It was due to bad trends of very bad killers.

  • For me:

Killer at Red rank and Purple Rank play: Warden, NOED, Agitation, Thana or Bamboozle. - The survivors are really good and can blast through generators quite quickly.

Survivor : Spine, Selfcare, Urban , Iron Will. - Id like to sub out Spinechill for Distortion, but it doesn't have good viability.

  • Both sides could honestly use some adjustments. It depends upon the rank really.

The people in 12-20 will mainly complain that the killer is too OP. While the killers in 1-12 will complain the SWF are too strong.

  • Trapper is nice for haddonfield, but like others say. At upper ranks there just isn't time to effectively thrown down the traps and go to town in Red Ranks. Even With good add-ons. The only one is the stone that sets the traps for a player.

  • For Once I agree with Peanuts here that something does need to be done. If survivors hatch on me (as killer) i actually give them a "grats on hatch". Because we ALL know the adrenaline RUSH we get as actual human beings, how exhilarating it is to ESCAPE DEATH and find that hatch. Being in their position that would be a rush for me as well!

    ----

I really lost that thrill and enthusiasm when they brought in Hatch closing. You know. ECG could have been MORE of a RUSH and THRILL had they left the hatch stuff alone and MAYBE went with something such as a one-hit down, but no hatch grabbing. That is the only reason why stand-offs occurred in the first place 🤣

If the killer was standing on the hatch, it wouldn't work either way unless they then, were forced to chase, swipe and pick a person off the ground :P

    oh well.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 11
