Yeah, I am really disapointed that netflix is being greedy about this. I hope the devs are ALLOWED to retain the files on BACKUP so they can keep lab and when netflix realizes their poor choices. BHVR can put the characters back into the store and have the map running again. That is a TON of hard work that gets removed from the game. :-(
-
It is 50/50 for me. I've done it. I am guilty of it. But sometimes there are survivors out there that force my hand. If I am having those days of bad matches. Where I want to play the game. If I can get the survivor IN the basement and I dont have the perks that I really need. UNLOCKED for that specific Character. I am going to CAMP.
In my OPINION. I would like to see some adjustments made in order to make camping a less dependable activity and more immersive for the killer. Remember, these are ideas (They may not be right or wrong). :-) .
Blood lust needs to NOT break until the survivor is downed. So vaulting speeds, and pallet smashing can be fixed.

:) I kinda wished we had a way to trade in 4 or 5 items that are lesser value for bigger items such as Yellows, greens or even for MORE items such as PINK rare add-ons! :)
-
I would like to see a COMPROMISE to this system. Either by a RANKED system that factors in this, or a Non Competitive mode implemented. So if we are streaming DBD, random connection losses don't put a stand-still for us, and players that are Hard-core don't have to lose their games due to folks with bad connections.
As much as we have solid infrastructure in big cities across the United States. The majority of Networks in midwestern united States are running on OLD equipment that Telcom companies REFUSE to properly maintain or run Fiber to homes. Infact there are still homes in my area WITHOUT phone lines and the phone companies REFUSE to run 300' of a phone line to a house! (cant say names here).
Players in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Eastern Colorado, Oklahoma, Northern Texas, Iowa, Utah and Parts of Arizona and New Mexico have these types of issues. And we are STILL waiting for the telcom companies to COMPLY with the new rules we have on the books that each home is to have Phone, Internet or even Fiber to it. 😕

TBH netflix does it because they have to make money and want MORE of it. So they are willing to see how far a company is willing to go before they won't pay and then hope they "re-think" their willingness to pay.
I HAVE TO SIDE with BEHAVIOR on this one. Since Video games are really important in order to reach ALL audiences. To be fair. I haven't had a netflix account active for over 5 years. I never have even HEARD about "Stranger things" until Dead By Daylight received the rights to the series. So if Netflix thinks they wont this battle. They did NOT win by this decision to NOT negotiate with Behavior Interactive for this.
Behavior HAS brought a positive outcome to the Horror Franchises.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - We Get Bubba Sawyer.
Nightmare on Elm Street - We get Freddy.
Halloween - We get Micheal Meyers.
Saw - Amanda Young.
SCREAM! - Ghost Face - Danny Johnson
Hellraiser - Elliot Spencer - The Cenobite.

I am NOT very good at survivor. So I find the chains that randomly appear out of "Thin air" to be extremely difficult to work against during chases with him.
-
This forum thread really made my day. Thank you :)

The only real solution to this is a ranking system that takes into account player reputation based upon their actions. If folks (both sides) are abandoning matches and/or survivors taking the first hook before phase 1. They should not be ranking up.
With positive players and this type of a design I am suggesting, It should be, that as you rank up. You aren't having these types of players in your pools anymore. For those that do this type of action, a timeout does nothing other than it enrages a person even more. Since now they are waiting and only becoming much more angry which makes their tendencies to throw or take it out on others More likely. Vs if they are distracted with the next match. Plus this would curtail "server surge" easier for network operators. (as folks come off of their time out penalties).
-
Yes, I have been really struggling with flashlight saves after the changes. :(
-
The only real diplomatic stance on this is coming up with a ranked system that takes this behavior as the primary factor. Since 50/50 we have both casuals and hard-core players that equally come here and provide the game a pool of players and keep the game going, regardless.
If a player is not willing/wanting to remain in a match and takes first hook and abandons a match. The player should receive a substantial rank progression penalty. So as they tier up. Players that are playing by the rules and expectations are in the Red ranks and those whom are going to abandon the match or take first hooks are not climbing up in ranks.
If they hard-ban people for doing this. There wouldn't be much of a game. Since this happens in every online video game. But at the end of the day there should be skill ceiling for player habits. So those that do wish to participate in the match do not have to deal with this.
-
Good post!!! When it comes to this game. You can use I-frames to make some risky plays very dynamic. AND... it can be VERY exhilarating to learn, so here is how some of the matches I play. Go:
In a situation where there is a killer that is CAMPING a player on the hook. You can make "trades" during key plays. So the point is to settup a strategy that you and your team understands. Especially in a SWF.
1 ) Someone IS going to get camped. Regardless. If you bring a group of friends. Break DOWN. might be sufficient. But with the increase in the number of hooks in the matches and how closely they are spaced. It doesn't buy time anymore. So you need to prepare your team WITH flashlights and be ready for it.
If you have 2 or more players on your team WITH flashlights. Expect the killer to BRING lightborn! Which then cancels OUT flashlights. Which means you need to prepare to BODY BLOCK the hook and trade hits.
So what you would do is have 2 other players settup on the person near the hook, Fake a grab, and back OUT. Which will buy you the killer's animation time after a melee hit to PULL the survivor. This is a RISKY thing to do. Since the killer can also do a "GRAB" , which is the animation of you grabbing the survivor, and the system awards the killer a Grapple. SO take the HIT, and as the killer is "cleaning" their weapon. pull the survivor and then either take the hit. and then any health survivor on your team can BODY BLOCK the killer.
Right now, the game seams to award "safety hits" which doesn't always mean the rescuer is in immediate danger, even being down 1 health state!
The killer MIGHT even ignore YOU and go right for their previous victim. This generally means that everyone may end up having to bring Decisive Strike. So holding it until the end of the match. Might be wise.
2 ) As killer. if I am being heavily abused by the survivors and they see me as no threat. I start SLUGGING strategies. So as hits are traded. I leave the survivors on the ground and expect everyone to have DS and at least someone WITH Unbreakable. to restart the match. after being slugged. If this is the case. Which it most certainly is. Survivors need to FAN OUT. Teams that get into trouble. Do not realize that spreading out across the map. makes it much more difficult for the killer to keep tabs on their slugged survivors!
In reality the strategy of this game changes dynamically as the skill rank goes up. It is no longer a game of Hide n Seek. But a game of Cat and Mouse chases. The key thing that gets players into trouble is Altruism. If there is a situation where a player is being camped, tunneled or slugged. GET GENERATORS DONE. I can say that 9 times out of 10. Players practice too much Altruism and are baited in a match, into Altruism (which is helping others) and the match quickly Snow Balls out of their favor.
-
I cant say any of the killers are in a good position right now. Without perks receiving attention. If the perk is slightly buffed. It CAN become much too powerful and really be overwhelming to mid-tier and starter ranks. While in Red ranks where players are skillfully experienced. It won't make much sense to NOT buff a bunch of perks or even switch mechanics to the game.
I'm still trying to make a case that BBQ and Chili is too strong in Mid tiers and in Top tiers it is a perk that serves ZERO purpose. While at the same time. I am wanting distortion to have ZERO required tokens.
Then when it comes to all of the hexes they have. Hex are ONLY dynamic at mid-tier and lower rank play. Which I would like to see something different DONE with them. The abilities are really cool. But they are under-utilized.
While I would rather see perks like FIRE UP and Brutal strength to receive major buffs :)
-
I miss the OLD moonlight Bouquet offerings that we use to have in this game. So we could change the lighting of the map.
-
I actually ENJOY the new content release and changes right now. The game seams very "mellowed" out right now and actually VERY enjoyable. Sure, there are a few things that need repaired. But what game doesn't need some work anymore?
-
I am going to say "YES" as my vote to cross play chat.
-
Good counters are:
LIGHTBORN.
MAD GRITT
NOED
WARDEN.
Or if you think they are going to outplay Warden or NOED. Try for IRON GRASP. It helps a ton!
Hope that helps!
-
I dont fully agree with that Statement, but hey. I guess if Rancor is a Meta pick now, that is a very drastic change. =o
-
I guess for me. I'd like to see the killer's perks actually CONTROL the match more dramatically in some way, shape or form. VS how the perks are now.
The only strong perks that make for good plays are Warden, NOED, LIGHTBORN and using the end game collapse to make these plays at the very end. Otherwise the kits don't have much to them anymore to slow the match down enough. While I am occupied with a chase. Because If I am chasing. I am not controlling generators.
-
VC is what makes this game appealing to friends. Eitherway. Discord, Skype and Ventrillo have re-defined gaming. I assume that their best course of action would be to make re-balance changes and expect that any 2 players joining a match are going to be 9 out of 10, using Discord OR maybe Skype and a slim chance that they will be using Steam VC or Ventrillo.
-
I didn't mind it eitherway.
-
If I see a key in the lobby. I bring Franklin's no matter what, and watch that key until it disappears from the spot it landed.
-
Trickster is about on the same level as Bubba. They are both REALLY good for camping with and DEFENDING the basement. That is what I have found they both of them do best.
His concept is REALLY interesting and I actually find him REALLY fun to play! I have enjoyed playing him, as he IS fun. BUT his baseline abilities are extremely WEAK. When it comes to chases, generator pressure and damage output.
His strengths are PALLETS and Camping. IMO.
-------------------
I feel this way because:
- His throwing knives provide MINIMAL impact to providing damage.
- His movement speed is MUCH too slow for him.
When it comes to interrupting HOOK rescues. hes GREAT at it. I can use "knife spam" to prevent a hook rescue and that is one thing about him, that really is nice! Especially basement defense. With a full set of BLADES. A person can sit down and at the base of the steps, looking upwards and when there is a hooked survivor. Their friends are mounting a rescue party. They will come through, start taking damage and quickly turn AROUND because it is an EFFECTIVE method to deny an AREA. Especially there!
When it comes to FACE CAMPING.
The Trickster does this effective too. Because even under a full set of blades and borrowed time. It quickly over-comes Borrowed time and plays VERY well!
his "grab" ability is ON POINT! Very well done! I can grasp survivors that are making a rescue. because the Animation triggers for his action abilities such as "grab" are smooth, accurate and makes him VERY viable this way!
-
"intervention of the Divine".
3 Tokens. 1 use.
For the survivor that is hooked. For every 20 seconds a hooked survivor is within the killer's terror radius, gain 1 token to this perk ability.
After 3 tokens. This triggers the ability of the survivor to hook themselves with a Skill check and apply the Deep Wound Status effect instead of triggering the dying state.
The tokens will reset themselves after 30 seconds. IF the terror radius radius is no longer audible to the Survivor.
-
Oh I guess..
- Hex RUIN.
- Have both the NEW and OLD maps in the game with and without the changes. (I like them both).
- NEW MOON BOUQUET (it was fun and made this game SCARY)
- ECG - instead Be a GAME TIMER (60 minutes to play the match) .
- Old Freddy wasn't bad.
- Old Doctor was more fun
- Old Hatch rules.
- Old sprint burst.
I didn't mind this game on launch tbh.
-
It is up for discussion.
There is so much to the HATCH that changes this game. That either makes it a match that is going to be FUN, or a match that is going to be REALLY bad.
If I am playing killer. I lobby dodge keys. I am almost to the point now, where keys are so frequently found in chests. That bringing franklins is almost my #2 must-pick.
- Lightborn - REQUIRED
- FRANKLINS - REQUIRED.
- NOED - REQUIRED
- WARDEN - REQUIRED.
-
Survivors can do the same. I am going to say that I would LOVE body blocking to be changed in this game.
-
The Plague is my #2 to play for killer. I Love the Design, the Concept, the playstyle. BUT the hit registration and what her vomit REACHES. Needs help.
I also hope in the near future. They can make her add-ons MORE dynamic so when a person uses her power. it feels like it IS a true power.
- EMETIC: We have NO "yellow" grade level of the EMETIC. I love USING these. Greens, and Purples are hard to come by.
- Haematite Seal: - Um, Where is Green and PURPLE ranks for this one?
-
For the killer: It is a Birthday Present. :-)
For the team: We know that the player intends to not be here long.
---------------------------------------------------
The perk really SHOULD be re-worked OR for custom games only. Such as for the run-offs in Custom Dead by Daylight tournaments such as Sandbagging matches.
-
I've had some thoughts on it tbh. I dodge lobbies with keys. So I am on the fence about it though. Reworks etc.. The hatch is a volatile topic for everyone. I dont think my idea is the best solution. But I guess...
Hatch Re-Works Are a difficult topic. Because the Red and pink keys really aren't any different. Maybe if one survivors gets to use the hatch and it re-locks again would be an idea?
Maybe once there is a "last player standing" situation. The hatch is OPEN permanently, and the 2 exit gates can be powered , but the player faces the EXPOSED Status. Might be a solution?
-
IMO hes not a very strong character to play as. (remember, opinion). I picked up this character when he was launched into the game and tried him out. hes good at low ranks. high ranked play is a "NO". Because survivors can duck, dodge and play pallet loops very well. To avoid the spear.
-
I've started to NOT offer charity more and more in matches. I use to let the last person escape. Now, today. I dont do that anymore in the last month or so.
I've come to the realization if I've seen these players during the match and they were playing well, not heckling me and the rest of their team was not playing reasonable. I will let them go. But generally speaking. It is a firm "no". For me. Especially when i don't even see them the ENTIRE time.
-
Taunting is "video game culture". i dont agree with it. But at the same time when people bag at the exit gate only to realize that WARDEN is activated. It is all the more enjoyable. Because it locks them down!
I dont think this would be a popular opinion of Survivor mains. But what IF Warden would be more of an EXIT GATE punishment system, for those whom remain in the safety zone and taunt. Those that remain in the exit zones suddenly find that the longer they stay in there. The worse off their situation has just become. Sorta like "exit the match or find out the entity does MORE".
-
I've always been curious about the idea of breakable Window FRAMES. Which would eliminate the window itself, if the killer could SMASH out the base of it.
-
I miss the old system because I didn't have millions of things pop up on my screen. While trying to start my stream. Sometimes it just lags the game out. Other times it is more annoying than anything. If it has a reminder. Having this pop-out message would be ideal if there is a toggle feature for it.
-
As bad as it sounds. Camping and slugging has become a strategy to Safety Pip in the game.
We've all done it. Not exactly fun.
Survivors: Decisive Strike, Borrowed time, Adrenaline and body blocking will counter Camping.
Killers: Blood Warden, NOED, Lightborn, IRON GRASP, mad Gritt , Agitation are good Camping perks.
The Strategy is to slug the player, activate the exit gates. and hope the survivor does NOT have adrenaline or Unbreakable. If not. you have to get back and down another player. Once the exit timer reaches the last 35%, hook the survivor and enjoy the fruit of your labor. Blood warden will seal the exit gates off and the survivors are forever TRAPPED, unless they can find a key, AND the hatch in time!
-
I do the same thing. But I've also found more survivors FINDING keys in chests lately too! So franklin's and tunneling are having to be more of thing now!
-
Hopefully they can fix it.
-
body blocking has been a hot-button topic for awhile now. Since a SWF team can essentially block with 3 other players and deny the hook, or even pathing through a chase. Hawkins is especially notorious for this. SWF team is going to be able to use the hallways to deny hooks, and 2-hits.
yes, When a killer lands a hit. There is a delay between movement, so they prevent a person from being hit again. It is a tactic that I dont agree with. But the survivors cannot really do any melee attacks back towards the killer.
In high rank matches we are already struggling with time management. So this can slow down the hooking progress of killers, considerably.
-
I try to avoid lobbies with "TTV" in their name and "YT". I really dont want to be working for someone for FREE. Meaning. I am helping them create content and NOT being paid for it. I would encourage others to do the same as well.
The other night I decided to take the lobby and played against the team. I 4k'd the team and because someone felt bad for the person. They got 500 bits for it. Im not being PAID for the time. But that is up to whomever I guess.
-
I've been flamed over Warden plays and Bamboozle plays before. It is nothing new from survivors. I really wish they would REMOVE Post-game chat.
-
I guess some ideas here.
Stockholm Syndrome:
After waiting in the exit zone for 20 seconds. The Survivor is inflicted with a slow-down status effect that reduces movement Speed by 20%. The baseline status effect does not clear out, for up to 60 seconds.
-
I'd like to see SOME sort of balance change to the game. I think players DO need SWF . So they feel like this is a game they can form a group with and play. But at the same time. It is not fun to play against those SWF teams.
For me lately. It is ONLY Warden plays at this point. Which seams very boring and repetitive to have to do. Essentially they are a group of friends in voice comms. They can call out WHOM is being chased and whom is NOT. So that means direct lines of communications means if I am in a chase. The other 3 can be on a generator and pressuring the others away from those generators is NOT possible.
I guess I'd like to see MORE perks that can help change the pace of the match. But not be so Over Powered to make the game UN-appealing either.
-
Im not a fan of it. Because of Hit detection. I often will make a melee attack against a player and THEN somehow a split second later, I see the animation of Dead hard. Despite I often figured they had it either way.
- Yes, I am on a wired connection.
-
I play Plague and Doctor most.
It depends upon the ranks you are playing against, the tactics you plan on using, and what type of groups you are most likely being matched against.
Plague is very TALL. Which means she is easily spotted from a distance. When I play. I try and utilize add-ons that;
- increase the infection's ability to inflict a status on the survivor (Emetic add-on). Will amplify this.
- Rate of infection (Sever Toe add-on). Will assist with this.
If you are playing in a match where you plan on LOCKING down 3 generators at the END of the match. Couple your add-ons with good perks.
- Corrupt intervention (holds 3 generators for you)
- Warden + NOED
- Swap one of the listed add-ons with Haematite Seal for holding a generator.
- Thana (perk) is good too, with plague for lower ranks. It slows down generator progression.
Pro-plays could also be made with the use of Whispers, with 2 of the "Apple" add-ons. (green and yellow) and then go for instant Corrupt Purge from one of the pools. If they are near a filled pool.
Sometimes you can benefit from pallet smashing perks such as Brutal Strength, to make up for some time lost.
If I am NOT using "apple plays". I try and NOT pull from the pools, Since that is time that I am not pressuring survivors off of generators. So I rely on the ooze to deter survivors from interacting with the generator.
-
I'd like to see SOME sort of hatch rework again. IDK, just something needs to be done. My #1 reason for NOT playing suvivor anymore, actually is just that. Because of Solo Playing and the removed reward of the hatch. One might say that it is the most contreversial topic of this community. Since each side sees a few different view points.
-
The term "gen rushing" describes what the player feels like if they can't gain control of the match. IE. They aren't able to have a match that will last more than 10-15 minutes.
Me, I would like a match to last about 25-30 minutes to feel the pace is "reasonable". But today, that isn't the case. The players are skilled at the game. The maps are easily memorized and the information given on how to play this game efficiently is readily available to be found on youtube.
With a lower player ELO. This seams like a very challenging game to the survivors. But to a higher ELO rated "Antagonist" This game seams extremely difficult. Since any time someone is in a chase, generators are falling fast. I play against those Red and Purple rank survivors. They do well, and my time is VERY limited. So I have to rely on "cheese" strategies in order to make wins. VS playing the game at "face value".
Cheese, as in "warden, NOED, SLUGGING" and using "herding Techniques" with Corrupt intervention. To shut DOWN a group of generators for the FIRST 2 minutes of the match. Corrupt intervention is just that. Players can hide out the 2 minutes or they can find OTHER generators. Most of the "good" teams I go up against. Will waste my perk's 2 minutes, HIDE, and avoid being found. Then make the plays on those generators.
In Lower-mid tiers. People can rely MORE on the Hex Totems to be effective at slowing down the match. Even stacking all 4 slots with HEXES and giving an extra objective for survivors to do! However, that doesn't work in the mid to upper ranks. Since players are efficient at finding hexes fast.
-
I've been playing Meyers quite a bit lately. Pink Add-ons (of course!).
Meyers takes some time to set up this play. Since generators will fall very fast.
Overcharge.
Whispers.
Lightborn
Bitter Murmur.
This buys TIME and helps set the play up. Because you have to deceive survivors into thinking you are NOT a threat (when in reality you are building up that very LONG meter). Most of the time I can begin using my Ability to completely remove the survivor from the match by the time they are down to 3 generators. Whispers and Bitter will allow for some information to be given, so you can make the play. You can also decide to use Tinkerer instead. If you want to get to the generator in time. To perform the stalking ability meyer's has.
-
I want to specify the room I am talking about.
-
I thought I should ask. I wasn't sure if it was an intended strategy they put in the map or not. Since some companies do some unique things to help players out. Since 3 walls require the Antagonist to break it, and the only point of escape is the window. 😵
-
I turned off comments a very long time ago. It prevents these issues.
