sooooo, how is this really solved? Keep penalties and keep giving DOS hackers a reason of disrupting player's games?
O_o
-
I gotta admit the Snowman thing is pretty awesome.
-
Yeah, I can stress that up and down.. the better is to take players that want a Casual experience and are not willing to remain in a match and hold them back in rank. While there are others that are fully participating in the match and are working to be better players and excel at their skills. They should be able to play with others that are of the same Mindset of playing to remain, and win.
With any Killer in the game, that so chooses to end their session early. I do believe that survivors deserve Safety pips and lose no rank.
I know that redesigning the system again would be difficult. But with how the current system is. TONS of people are now afraid to even TURN on the game and play, when there is DDOS and DOS going on. Since they are too scared to get a stacked penalty and not be able to even play.
I am now hearing this from WiFi cafe users. That they no longer play DBD because of the penalties. Sure, it is really frustrating for both sides of this Concern. and I agree that there isn't an easy answer. But I strongly feel like this would be the most peaceful solution is Match Participation Ranking coming first. Then skill rating.
-
As it stands today. A person has to weigh the mitigating circumstances. I understand where you are coming from and I can agree that it is an issue in the game. However, this is what is happening and that is because of how high the reward is.
From what I am hearing. It is not only folks that are in-game that are "malicious actors" but external non-ingame players doing this as well. (and not saying more).
This is random players that are attacked on the network for zero reason, Having their connection knocked out.
--------
It will be up to the community and the company to decide what is best. So we have to figure out what is best for our community.
A. With penalties, We leave it open for the next hole in programming and the engine to find a way in. As well as the Server hosting services contractors they use, as well as internal issues that naturally come with bugs and errors.
B. Without penalties, we do have the other issue of unsportsmanlike conduct, but players still being able to play the game, without the reward to those whom wish to do malice towards the game.
Me, I am of the opinion that a ranking system of Player behavior alone would begin to solve this in a peaceful manner and not generate a stepping stone for bad actors to ruin the experience of the game, for others. Especially with what leverage the penalties give a malicious person.
I would agree that a newly revised system could solve this better: For those that are in the habit of not playing out a match, it holds their rank back. For those that strive to be a respectful team player. They can be rewarded by playing the game with others whom strive for gameplay.

Right now, slugging for the 4k as a Win seams to be a requirement. I don't like it. But it seams to be the requirement due to changes in the game. DS and Deliverance is forcing slugging. Along with Fast Gen pressure. If I slug early in the game, and force survivors to attempt to heal a fallen team mate, it provides MORE pressure than a simple unhook of the player. Plus it prevents the circumstance of a DS or Deliverance play.
-
Im new to this "boon" stuff. other than I know that from my playing experience against survivors with it. I am rather annoyed by it. I've played about 3 or 4 games against the new mechanics.
My thoughts:
NOED is there if survivors chose to not do bones. Which means if they remove each totem from the playing field. NOED is not going to be there.
Boons: I assume with boons mechanics. That players can re-light a totem once it has been snuffed by the killer. I have also noticed that when players ignite these totems on the map. That the totem creates a noise but not reveal the location of a lit totem for the killer.
----------------------------------
As I play against this type of new mechanic. I am going to assume I need to use perks that punish players for leaving totems on the playing field or by making moves which force players to eliminate totems regardless.
-
The game is due for more re-balancing again. These BOON totems are driving me crazy. Then DS and DH are over-used now.
-
okay. Thank you for letting me know.
-
The list goes on and on For game balance. I don't really like streaming this game anymore for MANY reasons. Campers being one of them.
Somehow, there is no peace to be discussed when it comes to this game and changes because Ranks are different and how players handle the game completely seam to be different.
Today, High rank gameplay is about staying in chases with the killer. Early access gameplay was about hiding from the killer.
I am struggling to find this as a horror game at this point because anything about hiding is heavily punished.
-
He was doing a really good job, but they were really good survivors too!
-
Nobody will truly agree on anything about the game's changes. I play the game as "casual fun" others play it as a Serious sport.
-
We should be able to lose grades. I am not the serious gamer by any means and Like to play this game with friends, casual and fun. make memes and stream here and there. I am never going to be a consistent player in DBD.
-
As a Killer main, dead hard is my least concern. I'd like to see changes to perks such as FIRE UP and Brutal Strength. Yes, Dead Hard has bugs. But it does not break the game for me that much. I just learn to play around it and "mind game" folks using it.
-
I have to say I like the old shirt better. it is a very nice Color pallet they used during the design :)
-
All online games have this happen. Intentional or not. (WiFi, PC quality, The Cat)
What we need is 2 public match modes which are Ranked and Unranked.
- Ranked Public matches which has the penalties.
- UN-Ranked Public matches which does NOT have the penalties. With the Caveat that if a person plays in a group such as this. That players will leave regardless.
(Of course with the MMR system still in place) - Props, I do like the new ranking system. : - ) .
I cant tell you how many times I've seen streamers have to move on to another game because their Dead by Daylight stream crashed due to their streaming software crashing and then encountering this penalty system and have to move on to another game.
As much as I do NOT like to say this. i will. That streamers are a "necessity" for games today. Because it promotes this game. Half the games I play today I wouldn't even KNOW about had it not been for a Youtube gamer or a Twitch gamer. But it also should not entitle only streamers to special treatment.
-
The purpose of my response is to come up with a POSITIVE outcome for all players.
My suggestions are:
That an Itemized "in depth" report system be built. Since there are players out there that use bond then they sandbag and then assist the killer in making kills while ruining the match for others. So much so that they trap plays in corners and the only thing that they can basically do is essentially NOTHING. The penalty for this action should be the player should be suspended from ONLINE matches unless they can find 3 other FRIENDS to play this game with and be suspended for X amount of days for doing so.
new suggestions:
- Ranked public matches - With Penalties for poor behavior. (Early pulling, DC'ing, idling timer where the entity consumes the player like it does in ECG).
- Unranked public matches - WITHOUT penalties. (This would be ideal for streamers, since streaming software randomly crashes games).
- Post-game Abusive chat penalties which lead to MUTE BANS vs the current game ban.
- RANKED matches having Hatch Closing
- Unranked Public matches WITHOUT hatch closing. But instead a 60 minute game timer that starts at the beginning of the match.
-
I do like the new ranking system as a Solo player. For survive with friends I do not like it. But I would say that the ranking system is significantly much better. So I will give the devs props for a job well done on it. Over-all I'd say it is purdy good.
I use to play this game about 8-12 hours per day until hatch Closing was implemented and I was a fan to buy content prior to that patch. I was hoping for DBD Merch and hoping for some sort of Red Locker furniture to be on a Fan store.
Idk, Since then I don't feel very inspired by the game like I use to be. :-(
-
For me it is 50/50. Lobby dodging. But at the same time I do think there needs to be adjustments. I just dont know what would be a good suggestion at this point.
-
The only thing I could think of that could fix this is if Deliverance is reworked. Where they remove the Survivor rescue aspect requirement of the perk and build it as a stand-alone perk.
Example to change it:
The longer a player hears the terror radius of the killer while hooked. The player gains a token. If they gain X amount of tokens. They can unhook themself and the Deep Wound Status effect is applied with a 20 second required time before they are put into the Dying State.
If the player is in the struggle phase, the struggle meter is paused and tokens are gained. After X amount of tokens are gained. They can unhook themself and the Deep Wound Status effect is applied with a 20 second required time before they are put into the Dying State.
Don't get me wrong. Borrowed time is nice. But it is only strong if the other person using it knows what they are doing. Otherwise they most often do more harm than good and it becomes a situation where they are hook farming their team mate(s).
-
For me it really is a 50/50
1 ) If the team is VERY coordinated. The killer does NOT have enough time to make engaging chases. There is nothing that can help combat the momentum of a SWF team that is fully aware of how this game works. Even keeping a group of 3 generators grouped and guarded doesn't help the person win against a SWF De-pip squad.
2 ) In Survivor groups that are not strong and the team is really not doing well. Closing of the hatch gives ZERO reward to the player that made good choices. Such as NOT feeding the killer and making poor decisions that get them caught.
-
surprisingly I actually enjoy it. But I do agree that the system is still picking killers MUCH too strong when it comes to playing as a Survive with Friends group.
For solo play it isn't bad at all.
Idk... I guess I really do like it.
-
The topic continues to be an intense discussion. Here is my 10 cents on it: Mostly these problems are for new players and players that play in mid-tier ranks. Casuals. I admit I play this game as a casual past-time and I am no longer in the mindset of High Rank playing.
As the game stands today. It IS adjusted fairly well for high rank gameplay in the survivor's favor and in lower ranks it is going to be killer dominate.. Especially in high rank matches Where players are really good at mobility, chases, obstacle evasion and mind games. But the vast majority of posted issues in the game are there because the killer perks are too strong for mid-tier and starting players. Which is a problem because the skill gap is a BIG step between A perk such as BBQ being too strong against most groups and too weak against SWF De-pip squads.
I am a casual survivor so...
1 ) I would like to see the killers of the game have a reason to NOT do this in the first place. But if a person constantly flash light spams the killer. The killer would like to have a reason to eliminate that player from the game for said reason.
2 ) I would think that perhaps buffs to FIRE UP or Brutal strength would be fair.
3 ) i think it would be fair that the discussion of blood lust is fair, since certain pallet points can become too strong either way.
4 ) I would like to see distortion buffed somehow.
5 ) I think hatch closing removes the incentive to the survivor for extended efforts in a match.
6 ) I do feel that in high rank playing that Tunneling is almost always mandatory, Despite even I find it be unsportsmanlike while playing the killer.
7 ) I do think that a "favor-type" game mechanic implemented into the game for lower ranks would help it out. That way players being tunneled and camped can have a chance to not be singled out and eliminated from the match early on. But then we have the issue of high rank players that could essentially never be eliminated from a match.
I also feel that an obsession being picked no matter what in each match. is NOT healthy for the game. As this does promote tunneling.
-
im not too happy facing high rank killers. When I am NOT good at survivor. So yeah i hope this is just a bug.
-
Ah, let me clarify this.
1 ) I dont run add-ons or anything like that. I loathe cheaters and Cheating is a problem in online games and I wonder why folks do this. Since it steals from them the full immersive experience of online games.
2 ) I may be wrong. But didn't the POST-GAME window with Spectate menu option have where it has that red band / ribbon over the Killer's perks AND their name? I coulda swore it did? I see now it only covers their perks.
I appoligize for confusing anyone about this topic. I thought this had been done so survivors cannot add the killer to their friends list and sell out their team mate(s) or stream snipe their twitch.
Thanks!
-
Is there a clarification topic anywhere that the Devs have posted on how the new ranking system works?
-
Slugging, camping and tunneling are just a way of life unfortunately.
-
To me, it is extremely weak since it has tokens.
I believe that it should be just like Calm spirit is for countering Crows.
-
okay , thank you!
-
Today I am at 1844.9 hours on the game. More spent on killer than survivor. Doctor, Plague, Trapper, Trickster are my favorites! And of course Claudette is my survivor! I use play as Jake or Bill. (Bill because of owning L4D 1 and 2) and hosting L4D servers in College for the dorm friends to play on! =)
I did buy the Dead by Daylight game not too long after original launch. Because my friend talked me into it. He'd live stream it for me and tell me over and over I need to buy the game So I did!
When I play killer I Mostly play at 7s while facing Reds and purples. if I am really trying to make wins and If I am taking a relaxing time and just playing for fun and lulz. I usually drop in at 14s and enjoy myself!
For playing as the Survivors (Im not good at). So I see 11 or 10 at most. before I have fall-off in playing performance! :-(
With this fan Post I was hoping to add some sort of personal thoughts to the suggested perk changes for even MORE fast-paced danger!
(right or wrong though. Eh. I try!).
Thank you!
^_^
-
That is really something! I think there was a parody one called "The organ trail" which was about zombies!
Yes, I didn't want to give up on the match at all when it came to Oregon trail. I was hoping I would make it to Oregon after spending the amount of time I did bartering for an OX. But after that. I was hard-stuck and couldn't do anything else. But hey! Yes, I really had a good time!
-
Oh, I guess for me it is really a "fan made" (A wish list) but maybe NOT really practical (if at all!). ^_^
I do like Distortion being buffed like Calm Spirit is. Since Calm spirit can help COUNTER the Doctor or The killers that are using Crows to help locate the place where a survivor could have passed by. So I feel this is a fair trade off. Plus it makes killers WORK for their kills MORE. HOWEVER, When I made the balance to the rest. I felt speed changes helped create that "danger" and more pressure by able to clear distances faster with the stackable buffs through "FIRE UP". My biggest concern was survivors feeling like the gaps were closed too fast. Which is why I took a close look at "sprint burst" again. I felt as though this perk really has some good design features that felt like It could still be viable.
I did think that the Bill perks were for me. Inspirational and that maybe slugging could be countered in such a way for survivors to keep the pace of the game, but then i realized yes, slugging is necessary. But at the same time. Other perks that could be filling that slot, are a balance of trade off (from the game's core list).
For Boil over. I came up with 25% increase on the wiggle meter. Just to really help with those times where maybe a killer is trying for a basement play and the survivors on the team aren't always helping one another out
When I looked at other things where Killers have concerns is. I wanted to help killers out too. Since there are many issues they ask to be resolved, such as the ability to Close down a chase and put pressure on survivors to end chases and go back to generators or stay on generators vs participating in Kiting the killer around. So it shifts things (from what I am just speculating).
I did put bond as one. Since there are groups of players that sand bag one another with BOND and instead of removing this perk from the game. I felt as though it could help stop hatch camping by an adjustment to it. Because I come across matches where 2 players camp on the hatch, so it lowers this in some aspects. (maybe)... but not sure.
Over-all. That is what I came up with. But again. This is a HOPEFUL FAN thing I did And I do appreciate any comments!
Thank you!!! ^_^ .

THis post MADE MY DAY! It is the HIDDEN code called "demonware" that we use to joke about in programming classes. The kind of bug that exists yet does not. Just like Herobrine!
😁

No clue what is going on. But hopefully it gets fixed.
-
Not gonna petition anything here. Since This isn't Behavior's fault. It is the Console manufacturer's responsibility and that is whom players need to ask FIRST. (Regards to Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft Consoles).
I started out on console and understand that consoles make development EXTREMELY difficult. As well as debugging and performance fixes are very tedious. When it comes to a Console, anyone making stuff for Vendor Locked hardware has an EXTREME challenge to do! There is TONS of politics behind the scenes and when this comes to Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft consoles they each have their own set of rules. What makes this even MORE difficult is the fact that each machine has very different hardware rules and this is a nightmare.
Going on about this. There are lots of interesting youtube videos out there that talk about challenges about the people whom publish games for these consoles . It is EXTREMELY difficult Vs PC. On a computer the limitations are endless. But on a Console there is a development KIT and major constraints that each Vendor allows (or will not allow). Yes, I would like to see optimizations across the board. But for this issue it doesn't fall on Behavior's responsibility.
-
Legacy of Darkness has been my Favorite. But maybe Medusa from the First one would be a possibility.
-
I've always wanted to see something that punishes survivors MORE for hanging out in the exit zones of the maps. Warden is nice. But there is something more that should be done. It kind of reminds me of the OLD Gradeschool game called "base". Where if people stayed in the box they could not be tagged😁
-
I've said this more than once.
One side says "This game is for CASUAL PARTIES!!!!" (Break out the suds!)
the other side says "This game is HARDCORE COMPETITIVE SPORTS" (Gets out the team jersey)
So the thing is... You can't please everyone or anyone for that matter. So a "best of both worlds" is a PEACEFUL resolve to this. Which I would say is; Either a 2-mode design which one mode OFFERS Competitive mode with Strict penalties for abandonment of a match and a penalty to ranking, and the other mode being Casual unranked play (but still have some MMR to abilities)
While the other option is the Rank reflecting how much a person participates and chooses to "bail" on matches.
So that way folks are ALL welcome here to play DEAD BY DAYLIGHT! and keep this game ALIVE! 😎
-
Console optimization for a game that is PC based is EXTREMELY difficult for a company to do. It mainly falls on the CONSOLE makers to fix this. NOT the devs here. That is pretty much OUT of their control. and it is NOT Behavior's fault either.
-
Kiting is an issue in this game. Which is where a player has BOND and they deliberately lead the killer to a healthy survivor in hopes of them taking a protection hit for them. This really does become unsportsmanlike conduct and a form of Gameplay sabotage.
-----
The details: If a person is ON a hook. The best thing for them to do is observe the Aura's of their team mates. This means a tactical thought of looking to see where everyone is. if there are FOLKS on the generator. They should NOT run towards those folks! This means that a generator that COULD have been done. Is now, no longer going to be completed. It baits the killer over to the generator and causes a generator that could be at 90%. To now be regressed and endangers the rest of the team.
Yes, The first place they should NOT run is to that person working on a generator. But getting into a position of being in a PALLET, a point of vaulting, next to a burning barrel OR an engine that is already RUNNING. For the sake of masking the sound of Pain or if they are being tunneled. So the team can do a "pallet slap" and rescue them from being tunneled again. And certainly NOT next to a hook.
All too often I see survivors make this mistake (or they do it on purpose) and run to that person on the generator and then thats it. It ruins the match.
-
IMO the new maps do NOT have good performance vs the older ones. Backwater swamp feels more responsive than other maps that have received overhauls. I think that Unreal gets people into the Game of MAKING games. But that is about it. Unreal feels and runs "bulky". Vs being refined.
-
Fog needs rework or we need MOON Bouquets back. Both made the game SCARY.
The trick to this is the requirement for Render distance perimeters put into place so folks are NOT cranking UP the lighting on their monitors and CHEATING. With Fog. Particle effects are often too difficult to render on slower machines so perhaps maybe a lighting level rework as opposed to a fog rework... not sure...
-
REMOVED, But with RANKING and Rank penalty matches required like OVERWATCH. With Rank reflecting player participation so folks that are misbehaving and pulling early or Exiting matches have to play through X number of matches before they can rank up.
-
Balance and Counterplay.
It is difficult to say because everyone's skillset is different.
I am bad at survivor but fairly decent at playing The killers of this game. However I can say that as players learn the game, There are skill caps for them. I am not bad at looping a killer. Except I still am NOT the best. I play more STEALTH builds but perks like CHILI expose me and distortion doesn't offer me 1:1 since it has tokens. Compared to perks such as CALM SPIRIT. Whenever this procs I get attacked first any time this perk activates. I'd much rather not spend my time juking auras by entering lockers or faking my positioning on a map each time the killer makes a hook.
A killer main would state that they are wanting ways to counter the endless looping from Survivors using Jungle Gyms, T walls, L Wall combinations and window vaulting abuse. Maybe perhaps a change to Blood lust where interactions do not cancel out tiers of Blood lust.
IMO Chili ruins "last man standing" gameplay and doesn't reward efforts just the same as hatch closing. But for the killer that wants power over the last Survivor standing. They don't want a hatch stand off. Which I always felt ECG should be a timed event that starts from the beginning of the match and gives survivors 60 minutes to finish the match or be consumed by the Grasp of the Entity. So this would initially solve 3-gen stand offs.
-
I guess the way I see it. The ranking system should reflect mainly the player participation Quality. That way the folks that want the most engaging experience that this game has to offer. Isn't stuck with the folks that Abandon the match by either pulling on the hook too early or pressing EXIT.
This keeps BOTH sides happy and everyone can help grow the community.
-
yeah, something's up. I use to never have this many issues with saves before. I Haven't seen flash light saves be effective since May or so. I have also noticed that are fewer batteries and Low Amp Filaments in the webs too. So no clue...
-
Usually with SWF teams it is going to be extremely difficult. So here is what I DO.
Carry Warden, NOED, Lightborn and Coulrophobia.
The tactic, SLUGGING: Find one survivor and DOWN them. Leave them down and just hover over them until their team mates are inclined to your presence that you are lingering over the said survivor. once the said survivor is revived or gets up. Down them again. Their team is now going to be distracted with YOU and they may try flash light saves and you can land other hits. If they are inclined to be altruistic (which they mostly are). You can land other hits and have 2 players DOWN. Which soon becomes 3 and then 4. Give it some time and usually one or 2 of them have "The bill perk" to get back up again and down them again.
Eventually you can start hooking survivors and face camping them to see if they are going to pull on the hook with Deliverance. Remember. you need both players next to one another hooked, so one doesn't hatch. . remember. there needs to be 2 of them that need to be 2nd phase on struggling before you do walk or away or they will get their friend UP.
Don't ever close a hatch, unless they are RIGHT there. Usually the last remaining survivor has Adrenaline. So let the last 1 or 2 survivors run their bleed-out timer and there you go. You have just 4k'd a team that otherwise would have cost you the match through infinite loops,
As a survivor The counter to this is to leave the one friend being slugged and not take the bait. While completing other generators. But most often they are ALL telling each other they want to be healed up and back in the game. So that is how that works. It is shady. But I don't really have any other good advice to counter this. I keep Warden and NOED so If there IS that one team mate that prevails and does all 5 generators. I can still hook the one person and trap them in the Trial and catch them before they escape.
-
Meyers has been one of the paramount killers in this game that makes it worth while to play. I think I can say that its not the game without Meyers for sure! :-)
-
I would like to see in-game options put in, so folks don't have to go into the game files and set the VSYNC settings in the game folders. :-)
-
Sure thing. But I wouldn't count my wins anymore. Since "Suds n Gaming while playing Overwatch is for me :-) since 2019.
-
I never had timing issues until the patching in June then it just seams like it never works anymore. :(
