Legion and Oni.
Playing survivor is absolutely miserable because of these two, especially when combined. Far more people seem to be deciding that even 10 - 20 minute or more lobbies are worth it over enduring back to back Legion (especially).
Yep, it’s this. A lot of players are tired of mend and slug simulator and have either gone back to regular mode or have taken a break from the game altogether.
Personally I have been sticking with it, and played quite a few matches last night. Fortunately only had a couple Oni/Legion combos (one was a coordinated streamer duo who weren’t very good players but of course managed to 8K because of this busted combo). The matches that didn’t have Oni/Legion were a mixed bag. Some matches had useless teammates who hid constantly, refused to touch gens and went down 5 seconds after start of chase. Those were always losses (5+ kills). The matches with decent teammates and no Oni/Legion combo were always enjoyable and competitive, and escaped most of those. -

But if there's a report function for harassment, why have an anonymous mode? Anonymous shouldn't exist, its really just a tool used to harass people without consequence
Reporting for harassment is futile. I’ve never had any response when I’ve submitted reports, even for extremely vile and hateful things.

They definitely can kill switch cosmetics, they did it with that survivor Christmas one (I forget the one it was now).
Thanks for being ethical and I will say not every Huntress is taking advantage of this but a lot are. Survivors do the same with perks/cosmetics/addons etc that get bugged and give advantage, so I don't mean this is a killer vs survivor mentality thing.
Just some people will shamelessly exploit anything they can, which is pretty sad.
I don’t blame people at all for exploiting the Were-Elk bug. I blame BHVR for refusing to kill switch broken things and not fixing bugs in a timely manner.
-
Having bots in 2v8 made the killer queues even worse because nobody wanted to touch survivor with a 10 foot pole. BHVR learned from that mistake quickly. Now it’s a whole different issue keeping survivors away from 2v8 (busted AF Oni/Legion combo that shows up in 90% of matches).
-
It doesn’t really matter anyway. Any time I’ve ever reported players for chat harassment (non-anonymous ones, obviously), there has never been any action taken by BHVR. You can say pretty much anything you want without consequences.

Standard mix of survivors not doing gens because they're looting every chest on the map to try and get smoke bombs or doing totems for no reason, Onis in their power 90% of the game, Legion mending simulator, and getting left to die in a cage in the endgame while the entire rest of the team is full health and teabagging in the exit gates. So, awful as usual.
I chuckled out loud when I read this because it describes by experience spot-on 😂

More qq nerf survivors. Run stridor its been buffed back to counter iron will. Also with the 50+ aura reading perks and add ons, people still can't find survivors who are quiet? Pathetic and petty. We can't have 3 quiet survivors over the other 40 loud ones?
No surprise its always a spirit main complaining about as no other killers seem to have an issue and she's still op with no counters so if he wants that then she needs more nerf like the nerf they didn't give her to kick dust up while phasing
The whole point is that there shouldn’t be any difference between survivors. Pick whatever sound level you think they need to be at, but there is. no reason for them to not be the same.
Also, what are you even talking about with the “spirit main” thing? Your whole 2nd paragraph is just an incoherent rant that doesn’t have anything to do with the original topic nor is there any factual basis to it. When I play as Spirit, survivors know exactly how to counter me. They walk/switch directions while I’m phasing, use Iron Will (which by the way was recently buffed), and just move around unpredictably in general. Try harder to come up with excuses for why you can’t counter her.

Why is it that every time we get this event we have killer mains crying about their queue times but then bending over backwards to defend blatantly busted things in this game mode for killers like Legion/Oni. Of course nobody wants to play survivor when this combo exists, it makes the experience absolutely miserable.
Oni should have gotten nerfs, not buffs in this mode. Meanwhile they nerf ghostface lol.
I agree, but you could have made the point with the the “us vs them” comments. Honestly I haven’t seen too many “killer mains” defending this.

100% yes

troll bait post

Yeah, I don’t think you’re going to get too much disagreement on this. Even from people like me who normally defend the killer side more than most on this forum. He’s ridiculously busted, especially when paired with Legion who is super efficient at injuring many survivors quickly.

literally every other killer in 2v8 can consistently keep survivors injured while every single of those killers has more in their kit to actually be helpful, unlike Legion that literally just...injures them.
Your logic basically applies pub 1v4 mindset of "don't heal against Legion" in 2v8 and is based on how in pubs those killers contradict each other in those terms.
I really want you to list me advantages of Legion with Oni in 2v8 over Wraith with Oni for example.
Don’t bother. This person clearly doesn’t understand how Legion is different from other killers when it comes to ability to injure multiple survivors quickly. No explanations are going to help.

@sirlemonhead said:
Once they added Legion, there's unfortunately no going back - they can't really remove him now from future iterations which is sad.
Well, BHVR could,” remove Legion from future 2v8 events, but of course the people that like to play him in 2v8 would be upset. I guess upsetting a few Legion 2v8 players is more of a concern to BHVR than alienating the much, much larger group of 2v8 survivor players that have to deal with this misery.
Honestly, Legion is not bad to play against in 2v8 if 1) he can’t be paired with Oni, which is clearly a busted combo, and 2) people know that the best way to counter him is stay injured and stay on gens. #2 is tough because there are so many brand new and inexperienced players in 2v8. Legion has always been a noob-stomper because new players don’t know how to counter, and that’s especially the case in 2v8 mode.

Theyre just extremely stingy with shards for no reason.
”no reason?” It’s a for-profit company. They need to make money somehow, or else we don’t have a game. Giving away shards like candy would dramatically hurt their revenue because nobody would need to spend real money on the game except for licensed DLCs for which shards usually can’t be used.

The killer queue will be an hour by Sunday at this rate. It's literally nothing but slugging Oni's every single match and you pair him up with a Legion he has fury up all game long. Just not a good experience at all he needs major nerfs
Yeah, I think I’m done with 2v8. I don’t know how on earth BHVR could test this and conclude “yep, this is fine.” I escaped a few matches yesterday, but a vast majority were against Oni/Legion combos that were easy killer wins with at least 4 gens left. I remember one match seeing 5 players all slugged at the same time.
I would happily play killer, but of course everyone else would rather play killer too because of how unfun survivor is, so queue times have been ridiculous. I’d rather just play something else.

After playing more I can agree with this. Oni probably needs some changes for 2v8 next time.
Kind of makes you wonder if BHVR did any internal testing whatsoever before releasing Oni into 2v8 mode
-
Has anyone been in a match that did not have Oni? This is ***ing ridiculous. Easily the worst 2v8 event ever. And I usually am a strong defender of the killer side.
-
I played 8 games and didn’t escape a single time yet. Lots of Oni/Legion combos. In prior 2v8 events, I had no problem escaping on a regular basis - more often than normal 1v4 solo queue. Either survivor players got a lot worse since then, or BHVR went way overboard tweaking the balance between last event and this one.
What boggles my mind is why BHVR thought that this time around there should be more incentive to play killer and less incentive to player survivor in 2v8 mode. Are they going for a new record on killer queue wait times for this one? That seems to be the only explanation.
-
BHVR will never show ping in lobby. If they were ever going to, they would have done it long ago. They care more about quantity of players in the game than the quality of player experience. Too bad for you if you get stuck in an unfair match with a VPN-abusing player.
-
Yes, it is live now, and playing as survivor has been an absolutely abysmal experience. At least half of my teammates in my first four matches so far appear to be playing the game for the very first time, not knowing that generators need to be repaired to be able to escape and getting downed no more than 5 seconds after the start of a chase. I don’t know what it is - maybe just bad luck - but the quality of survivor teammates is just depressing. No wonder people complain about how weak the survivor side is when they are this bad at the game.

You can report daily chat messages and they never take action. I only remember being notified of them taking action in a few cases of insistent xenophobia and homophobia, it seems that death threats and calling your whole family is no big deal.
Same experience for me. I’ve reported several cases recently of people wishing harm on my family, racial slurs, or other really nasty stuff in chat, but nothing ever happens to the offenders. BHVR does not appear to take this kind of stuff seriously, and that is very concerning.
-
Quality of teammates is definitively the biggest issue with solo queue. It really comes down to the non-functioning matchmaking system and the horrifically bad MMR scoring system. I will have a run of escapes with great teammates in solo, only to be rewarded with brand new player teammates in the next lobby (and no, it’s not because I got backfilled into a lobby). This happens all the time. The matchmaking system simply does not work.
When I get competent, experienced solo queue teammates, the matches are always fun, even when I lose. It’s those matches with brand new and/or downright useless teammates that really make it miserable. -
same here. I played a match as killer and I had a 200+ ping while everyone else was around 40-50. Was not using VPN. Every other match that day my ping was fine.

I play it more than any other game, so yeah, I still have fun playing it.

BHVR should never ban people for exploiting bugs. Instead, they should actually fix the bugs in a timely manner or at least killswitch if it’s related to a certain character/perk/item/add-on.

Completely dismissive of OP but what can you expect on these Forums from Killers. There is more to improving Survivor than just "making it easier."
Why is every single post an “us vs them” thing with you?
-
I think Singularity is pretty universally considered one of the most unfun killers to go against, particularly for solo queue players. Whenever I go against him, teammates never seem to want to disable his cameras and so you’re constantly getting tagged with his pods and then he’s on your ass the entire match. Feels very powerless to do anything against him. SWF teams with coordination seem to have a much easier time neutering his power. Fortunately, almost nobody plays Singularity so I very rarely see him.
-
solo queue escape rate at normal MMR is 40%. If your personal escape rate is way below this, I don’t know what else to tell you other than your skill level must be below average as well. I’m not saying this in a derogatory way - it’s just a simple reality of any game. There’s going to be a distribution of skill level from very good to very bad, and there are all ways going to be players on the very bad end of that distribution. I know from my own personal experience that 40% escape rate in solo queue is very much possible. I’ve been at the “very bad” end of the skill curve and I know how frustrating it is. I learned how to play better by 1) playing the killer side regularly to see how good survivors play, and 2) watching videos of other skilled survivors to see how they play.
I know I’ll get downvote-bombed for this, but don’t really care. It’s a lot easier for someone to complain and downvote anyone who tells them that they might be wrong than it is to work at improving their own gameplay. -
Cheating should be immediate long-term ban. I have no problem with this.
-
Matchmaking has never worked in this game since SBMM was launched. It’s bad on both survivor and killer side, but seems especially bad on survivor side for me. I’ll escape a bunch of matches and then next few lobbies get paired with literal brand new players (and no it’s not due to lobby backfill). Or I will lose a bunch in a row and then get matched with great teammates. It’s just completely random. On the killer side, I will say the quality of my opponents is more consistent, but I’ll still see lobbies swing from god-like teams to complete potatoes at random.

I wish killers boycott this game 1 month and waiting for devs answer
”70% of the survivor mains are playing with SWF and all of the toxic?”
Just stop with this nonsense. Everyone knows this isn’t even close to reality in the game. You are the one stirring up toxicity with this “us vs them” garbage. -

Ghoul is now out for 4-5 weeks, its not just you play against Ghoul literally every single game, but they did not fixed the vault instant M1 bug yet. This bug is known since the release of Ghoul. Furthermore is the general cooldown while vaulting paletts far to low, especially since 90% of the killers have a ping of 60+ which makes literally every "shorter" loop unplayable. The "nerfs" which have been done were completely wrong. Very sad since BHVR announced the "big quality offensive".
I guarantee you are not seeing Ghoul “literally every single match”. His usage dropped way off after the initial release and recent nerf. I probably see him in at most 1 in 10 matches now.
-
I think I’ve only gone against the new Freddy once, so I have no idea. Nobody ever plays him.
-
we don’t even know what these changes are going to be yet. Ideally, they would improve the survivor experience without negatively impacting kill rates, which are right around the target 40% (except of course high level SWF). If we can get that the happen, then great, everyone is happy. If kill rates drop, we will likely see some killer buffs. BHVR has buffed killers in the last when kill rates got too low.

"We’re cracking down on cheaters" – a phrase so recycled, it should come with a green label.
The real punchline? Dead by Daylight is a PvP game from 2016 that still trusts the client more than most people trust their ex. No server-side validation. In 2025!Meanwhile, visual parity is a joke, filter-based advantages are shrugged off, and cheat tools get version updates more reliably than the game does.
If anticheat is on the roadmap, they might want to stop driving in circles.
It seems like BHVR doesn’t prioritize anything unless it’s starting to have a significant impact on the player count. They have limited resources and have to decide the most important things to use those resources on to maximize the numbers of players and thus revenue. I would do the same thing if I was them, to be honest. It is a for-profit business after all. Unless people start to leave the game in large numbers due to cheaters, we probably won’t see anything other than the obviously ineffective anti-cheat system they currently have. I will say that I haven’t seen an obvious cheater in a long time, so in my experience it’s not a big problem. I know others on the forum have claimed to encounter cheaters on a frequent basis.

@AmpersandUnderscore said:
They just announced that they've got every target metric for killers. Kill rates are 60% overall, escape rates are level between solo and all SWF overall, and the upcoming phase 1 includes anti hiding for killers and anti go next for literally everyone.
I agree that the balance is pretty good overall, except for SWF at high MMR. There’s a statistically significant jump in the escape rate there. This shows the unfair advantage of communication and coordination at the higher levels. I’ve been in matches against these kinds of teams (although not super often) and they’re just a curb stomping. I’m lucky to get a couple of hooks before all the gens are done. The only thing that can really be done is to implement some kind of handicap for 4-man teams based on MMR score, or some sort of “comeback” mechanic for killers against SWF teams, but I know it will never happen because people always complain about “punishing people for playing with their friends.” They of course never acknowledge the fact that their unfair advantage is punishing the people who are forced to play against them.

Here’s another one: the visual terror radius that was for “accessibility” but ended up being a massive buff for survivors that every single survivor player uses now, including myself. Killer players never got anything similar.

Yeah they don't count DC's and killing on hook toward their 40% bullshit lie. You can't play this game solo, you lose constantly, hardly any impact on outcome on how you play. Game is a complete joke for solo q, get a SWF or stop playing.
I do fine in solo queue, and plenty of others do too. It’s possible if you work at improving your own gameplay instead of constantly complaining. I’ll concede that solo queue is not fun if you’re getting matched with brand new players which does happen to me pretty regularly. The only thing you can do is look for a new lobby. It’s sad that the matchmaking is so bad that we are forced to do this.
-
I doubt they will change it even with the overwhelmingly negative feedbacks. It’s not enough of a pain to stop people from playing the game, which is really the only thing that BHVR reacts to when it comes to backtracking on unpopular changes. As long as the player count holds steady, they see no reason to change direction.
-

-
Here are killers I have played recently and they have all been fine: Wraith, Nemesis, Bubba, Huntress, Spirit, Plague, Hillbilly, P-head
Yes there are a few killers who are bugged. None are “unplayable”. Stop with the hyperbole -
the game balance is fine. I have no problem escaping fairly regularly in solo queue as long as I get matched with teammates who know what they’re doing. The main problem really is the matchmaking, which is effectively non-functional. No matter how much I win or lose, I get matched with a completely random mix of teammate and opponent skill levels. The only way to manage through is lobby dodging until you find one that looks reasonable, sadly. It would be nice if matchmaking actually worked and we weren’t forced to do this.

If you are complaining about a D tier killer, the only answer is skill issue, you actually can't be serious, legion is one of the weakest killers even after the buff
100%. I used to complaint about Legion all the time until I made an effort to actually try to learn how to play against them. Unfortunately it’s still miserable going against Legion because most of the time my solo queue teammates don’t know how to play against them and spend the entire match mending and then fully healing rather than staying injured and working on gens. When my teammates understand this, the matches are usually easy wins. Just yesterday a Legion DC’d against me on The Game because they couldn’t catch anyone around loops while out of their power.
-
not much fun unless you’re in a SWF. In solo queue nobody disables the cameras so he’s basically on your ass all the time and not much you can do. I’m thankful that almost nobody plays Singularity
