  • I think it’s time BHVR just give the game to some new developers

  • bunch of haters, it’s the internet tho, I’ve learned not to care.

Pre-nerfed tombstone addons should never come back. They were the most unfun addons in the entire game for survivors.

I actually liked going against it.

  • Claudette should be ten tiers above everyone else.

  • This phenomenon is not unique to Dbd. Every game has a meta and the majority of the playerbases will use it. I

Take a seemingly simple game like Clash Royale. Bunch of cards to choose from yet you’ll go against the same 3 decks at least 90% of the time. People, unfortunately, don’t want to just play, they want to win, so rather than just having fun, they’re gonna google the best build for any game they’re playing.

Would be nice to have the devs buff other perks and make them more viable but that’s easier said than done.

  • Buff:

Nurse: I’d remove her fatigue and every time she lands a hit the Survivor instantly teleports to a hook.

Wesker: All of his cosmetics now consist of him being shirtless, which causes Survivors to run towards him.

Wraith: He can now hit Survivors while cloaked.

    Nerf:

Pig: Can no longer dash. Her roar is replaced with a cute oink oink. Successful snoot boops instantly heals a Survivor and causes a gen to be instantly repaired.

Demopuppy: Shred is replaced with a new prompt for Survivors that grants them the ability to pet the good boy. Survivors can now instantly teleport from portal to portal.

Chucky: Survivors can now punt him like they can with Victor, only instead of getting crushed, Chucky gets sent flying across the map like a football.

Conceptually: there aren't any real issues on the idea.

I guess the timing could be part of it. 60, 75, or 90 seconds, not sure what would work best.

Player change: the killer still has the same reason to slug in certain situation (which is good). I guess if the time is too low the other survivors have the incentive to just not go for the slug. That's not inherently bad and potentially makes a 3v1 more playable.

Possibility of back firing on survivors with mistiming a run to pick up a slug only for them to teleport away right before getting there. Again, not inherently a bad thing to have in the game, but could occasionally be impactful.

Randomness: Different players have feelings on how random the game is. What hook does the survivor spawn to? If its random across the map that could swing the match on that number. Even if spawning to close hooks, the exact location could be pretty impactful.

Blood points: I know some disagree, but I think these are horrible ways to motivate behaviors. If slugging with a hook teleport is a valid strategy, then fine, allow it. If we don't want it to happen we should change the game so that its less beneficial as a way to win or progress the game.

What if we grant Killers a base-kit in game reward for hooking with a randomized beneficial effect such as an undetectable status effect for 25 seconds or a movement speed boost for 10-15 seconds? They’ll need to test it and tweak the numbers to make sure it doesn’t make Killers too oppressive but I think it’s better than just punishing them. Even if they never implement my idea, I feel like making hooking more rewarding this way would make more Killer mains opt to hook.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

What exactly problem is this attempting to solve?

If you're targeting slugging, then this does nothing but validate killers leaving survivors on the ground. Specifically your points #2 and #3 already exist if the killer is not intending to hook at any point in the game, and those are apparently not enough to deter people from excessively slugging at the start of the match.

Killers who intend to slug excessively aren't bringing hook perks, so #2 is completely irrelevant. And bleeding out a survivor already comes with a penalty for emblems and blood points, so #3 already exists.

Basically the only changes here are that survivors get a slightly faster perk upgrade (yet the solution to slugging is still reliant on having a perk equipped), and in return the killers who do this can feel validated that the devs and the survivors should be hooking for them, and the problem only gets worse.

So unless you're targeting some other problem, this is generally not a good idea.

It stops Killers from bleeding out Survivors for four minutes without rewarding the Survivors for losing a chase or not spreading out to deny the Killer from Slugging all four people (which is the in-game solution to Slugging that doesn’t require a perk).

I never said it’s a fantastic idea, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea either. I’d personally prefer this over lying on the ground for four minutes.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I think people highly underestimate just how efficient this playstyle is and how much time it’s robbing from survivors; so if they can bypass mechanics to make their side easier and get consistent W’s with little to no adversity, well why can’t I bypass mechanics I don’t like? I can go into verbosity, but I think a simple point really just says it all.

This play style is already available to good players using strong Killers that can quickly end chases, only Survivors currently have no base-kit counter to prevent being bled out for 4 minutes.

There’s already plenty of adversity to Slugging in the game, Survivors are just averse to going in prepared and working as a team.

And no, your point doesn’t say it all. This idea solves a problem that’s been complained about by Survivors ad nauseam. Your suggestion doesn’t fix anything other than your desire for a tit-for-tat. It’s like Killers complaining about not receiving anything equivalent to Survivors base-kit Borrowed Time.

Now, if you think gens are going to slow in general, you’re free to start up a thread of your own discussing why you think that and how you’d improve it. This thread is about a possible new anti-slug mechanic.

since killers are saving all this time though by not hooking can we get a buff to gen speed, or can the gens do theirselves since like bypassing mechanics is on the table? Maybe let all survivors unhook their self? Jw. Ya know since that’s okay. I’m just asking.

Killers may be saving time if they opt to let the Entity teleport the slug, but they’re not being rewarded for it. They’re actively being punished for it by losing out on blood points, emblems, rift challenge objectives, hook perks and whatever else hooking Survivors on hooks in the normal way rewards them.

Self unhooking rewards Survivors for failing and I’m against that, just as I’m against base-kit Unbreakable. With this mechanic, at least the Killer earned the teleport by winning the chase. What did the Survivor and their teammates do to earn faster gen speeds or a self unhook?

I’d argue the time saved benefits the Survivor more than the Killer since the biggest complaint Survivors have against Slugging is being bled out for 4 minutes and not being able to progress the game.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/438945/what-would-be-the-drawback

It should be a 2v8 cage instead of a hook, so the survivor doesn't have the option to self-unhook.

Ooooh! I like that! See, if I was the sharpest tool in the shed, I’d have thought of it, but I’m not 😮‍💨

  • No one should be using Invocations until the devs change the broken-status to 60 seconds. It’s ridiculous it’s permanent.

  • I’ll play however I want, thanks.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

The killer would be able to shift a little every now and then to continue what they’re doing. Your suggestion would only fix AFK strats.

If they removed survivors’ collision when they have idle crows, you can kill multiple flies with one stone, as it also removes instances of survivors blocking other survivors.

They could program it to where the killer loses collision if they stay within the same 8 yard radius. Your idea is fine as well. It’s not rocket science, what are they scared of happening if they implement something like this?

  • If FNAF is making it to Dbd, Supernatural can too. Even if we only get a mid-chapter of Sam, Dean and Rowena (we better get her😤). The player base just needs to let the devs realize how much they’re wanted.

I just don’t think it’s a big priority. A Scary Movie chapter with Brenda and Cindy needs to come first and they better be pestering the license holder 24/7 because I need it. Especially with Scary Movie 6 on the horizon

NOED doesn't proc until the killer downs someone for the first, so a solo survivor doesn't stand a chance. Especially if hatch is closed, they have no key and the gates are being patrolled across a small map. Which also proves another point, adept killers abuse NOED just to be toxic to survivors for outplaying them. I just had a match where everyone but me was sacrificed, I retreated to heal up cause I couldn't find the hatch. Head to a gate and waited for a brief moment to prog the switch a little, killer is dredge, they show up use their ability to leave a portal and go check on other gate so I'm stuck, then they snap back on spot find me and down me in one hit cause guess what, they had NOED, which they obviously didn't need since they got 3 survivors already.

NOED is supposed to be a crutch for greenie killers who are outmatched by adept solo survivors or SWF (SWF being the best case to use it since SWF tend to be more cocky and toxic to killers, from my perspective of playing killer mainly.) But adept killers use it why? Just to be as toxic as they are, what goes around comes around, and people that actually play for the sake of playing, getting challenges and achievements done. They suffer for it and get a horrible experience out of it all. NOED, regardless if its been nerfed in the most little way possible, still remains OP and likely to be abused by adept players. I've had several matches where killers simply used it to slug everyone and leave them bleeding out in floor, its petty and spiteful. What good is seeing an aura within 24 meters going to do when everyone is down and bleeding on the floor? Absolutely nothing and you have no way to know NOED is in play till after the first survivor goes down from it.

IMO there should be a failsafe for NOED abusers or simply remove it from killers who have prestiged to a degree, the failsafe being survivors who have been slugged and left should be able to recover from dying state, at a slow rate if need be, this prevents slug abuse and forces killers to hook, therefore giving other survivors time to look for the totem and cleanse it.

I’ve survived plenty of matches against NoEd users a SoloQ player. So you’re wrong when you say SoloQ has no chance.

This is really an issue of Git Gud.

You as a Survivor are expected to pay attention to the Killer, how they play and what perks they might have equipped. It’s not hard to tell if they’ve only been playing with 3 perks for the majority of the match and safely assume they have NoEd.

It’s a total skill issue on the Survivors part if hatch is closed and gates are closed. You failed to finish the gens and open a door and you failed to find hatch before the Killer did. You’re not entitled to deactivate a Killers perk because you weren’t good enough to identify that they had it.

If it’s such a problem bring in perks that counter totems, a map or even Plunderers so you can find a key in order to get that easy escape you desire so much.

    1. Bush cosmetic for all Survivors. Claudette gets a special morphing bush that changes to match the maps environment. On indoor maps it’ll change into a barrel or cardboard box.
    2. Brand New game engine. It’s desperately needed. Anti-cheat/hacking code needs to be written into the source code. Code to allow for a wider range of more interesting and unique Killer powers needs to be built in as well. Getting tired of just combining old stuff into new Killers.
    3. More interactive maps. Ladders, Ziplines, icy floors with slip and slide physics, quick sand, deep water (with new swimming annimations) and whatever else they can come up with to make things more interesting and freshz.
    4. Customization overhaul. I know it’s not a big deal for a lot of people but one thing I love about videogames is being able to make my Characters Pretty and Unique. Never been a fan of the current cosmetic sets that limit customization. I want models updated with more customization slots so I can pick out hairstyles, glasses, necklaces, gloves, shirts, coats/capes, pants, shoes, backpack, and even undies. With more stand alone cosmetics that I could mix and match between Survivors.
    5. Updated Trapper model with more polygons that looks exactly like his Hooked On You counterpart with the addition of his Diamond encrusted cosmetic 👁️👄👁️.
    6. More test weekends like they did with the no Blood-lust weekend so we can try out new game mechanics. Would be nice to see how reducing bleed out by 50% would be. Or maybe unhooked Survivors remain ghosts for 30 seconds like @Reinami suggests when talking about anti tunnel. Game really needs to update the core mechanics for both sides.
    7. Bedsheet Ghost cosmetic for Myers from the first movie.
    8. Shirtless Carlos.
    9. Power Rangers Chapter
    10. Naruto Cosmetic Chapter or any Anime that will give Claudette a full Ninja set. I’d even be fine with the Nina costumes from the First Power Rangers movie.
    11. Ryuuk cosmetic for Wraith
    12. Rocket Launcher iridescent add-on for NemoDaddy
    13. Shirtless Wesker
    14. Sunglasses cosmetic for all Killers
    15. Nurse Cosmetic for Freddy
    16. Dbd-Kart mode like Mortal Kombat did with Motor Kombat.
    17. Updated Character Models to make Moris look like Mortal Kombat Fatalities. A lot of the current animations look like something out of a PS2 game at best.
    18. Bring back the aesthetic of the old maps along with the offerings that made them darker.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/436921/is-anime-good-or-bad-for-the-game

There's tons of good horror anime that would fit not only as skins but full on chapters. I would love for there to be a chapter or at least a skin line on Higurashi (a legion skin and a survivor or 2 would work pretty well), but i do know that for the non-initiated it would just be like "why are they putting cute school girls in this horror game" But in terms of atmosphere, brutality, horror, and violence, i think it would fit right in.

Outside of something like that, you could probably do things like Demon Slayer with tons of demons and characters to choose from, Elfen Lied with a potential for a really cool killer with the arms, or Hellsing has tons of bad guys (although all the good ones are literal Nazi's so it might be a bit harder to adapt), or the Butler with his strings, or even just Alucard (which might be a little weird with the other Alucard being in the game), or maybe even Death Note somehow that might be interesting.

But definitely just look up some of the "death scenes" in Higurashi and tell me that wouldn't fit in with DBD just because the characters "look cute"

Or that Lucy from Elfen Lied going on a killing spree and ripping peoples arms off and then beating them to death with the arms doesn't fit.

Or any of the demons from Demon Slayer that mercilessly kill tons of people.

All of these thing would fit quite well in the game, especially in a world where trickster, and Junji Ito skins and such exist.

I think when people say "anime" they think of things like, Pokemon, or Naruto, or things like that, that, yes, would not fit very well into DBD. But i think there are tons of horror anime that exist that would fit quite well, for fans and non fans alike.

Naruto could fit as a cosmetic chapter. I need Claudette to get a full on Anbu set. It will be amazing to join up with 3 other Anbu Claudettes

This is why solo queue is miserable. 4 man SWF's bring crazy stuff and destroy killer. Killer gets annoyed and next game goes full sweat against 4 uncoordinated random solo queue survivors. Survivors gets mad and stop playing, just start DC'ing or suicinding on hook from games in rage against anything at all they remotely don't like in the following games or join a SWF. Rinse and repeat. This is part of the reason solo queue is horrendous at the moment. It all adds up.

BHVR buff solo queue a touch. This in turn buffs SWF's by even more. The game can never be balanced with the amount of different perks, maps, items and add ons. It's probably worth looking into action debuffs for SWF's at this point because at the moment anymore general survivor nerfs or killer buffs are going to obliterate solo queue even more.

They won’t touch SWF because the outcry will be massive and they’d lose too much money. They’d argue that they shouldn’t be punished for playing with friends while ignoring how casual Killers get punished every time they have to face a coordinated team on coms that the game isn’t balanced on.

Best they could do is come up with new core mechanics that makes the game better for Killers and SoloQ while also being impossible for SWF to abuse. But that’s a lot harder than most people think.

  • @GeneralV said:

I don't think so, tbh. The gameplay loop is vastly different.

Old Freddy was unique when compared to the others. He had something that no other killer had, and at this point I'm guessing that no other killer ever will: the sleep mechanic. The whole point of Freddy is that you pulled survivors into the Dream World in order to interact with them. If they weren't asleep, they could not even see you. The gameplay loop consisted of pulling people to sleep and using your abilities to control the map.

That isn't the case for post-rework Freddy, even after these changes. His individual abilities might be stronger now, but the gameplay loop remains the same: traps and the occasional teleport. He is more similar to other killers than to his original version. And, honestly speaking, I do not like that at all.

I’m sorry. I was hoping he would be what you wanted but instead he’s become the best at stomping SoloQ players. His teleport to healing Survivors in the dreamworld is going to be so miserable if you’re not in a SWF 😭😭😭

It definitely happens both ways. I've occasionally full-team slugged a non-bully squad with Pig. That shouldn't even be possible.

Of course, I don't let them bleed out if that happens. And if it happens early in the match, I put some of them on hooks and then let one wiggle off so we can have the rest of the match...

Correct, it’s sometimes the Survivors misplay, the Killer being too strong, the Killer Player being more skilled or MMR just totally screwing up everyone.

They only time I’ve ever blee people out is if they crawl away and I can’t find them, they have up at 5 gens and wanted to ruin the match for their team, they brought in an anti-hook build or they were just totally toxic(I’m spiteful sometimes). Otherwise, there’s no reason for it, especially now that hooks respawn after someone dies on them.

I do believe the Devs should reduce the bleed out timer to 2 minutes or at the very least test it for a weekend like they did with the no Bloodlust weekend (or was that just a day?). It would push Killers to pick up sooner while also make Survivors play a little more careful and force them off of gens sooner. Maybe even affect the meta by having people choose an anti-slug perk. And getting bled out wouldn’t be as miserable since it’s only two minutes.

Well if a killer can slug the entire team either the killer is broken or matchmaking is, sometimes both.

Or the Survivors just seriously misplayed.
I was able to slug 4 people at 4-5 gens with Trapper because some of them just kept rushing hooks before I even left the area and another would keep trying to blind me.

It’s not always Killer OP or Matchmaking Bad (though I do think MMR could be improved), a lot of times, the fault is on Survivors for making the wrong choices, not because they weren’t skilled

  • Disagree on the game being Survivor sided.

I thinks it’s rather balanced and only Survivor sided when it’s a Coordinated Sweat Squad on Comms going against anyone that isn’t a Sweaty Killer playing Nurse, Blight, Mr Baldy and maybe HillyBilly.

As for why do people quit? Perhaps it’s not related to changes and they just had burnout? Or perhaps the changes to their character or preferred role was just the straw that broke the camels back? It could also be a loss of interest in the direction the Devs are taking the game.

  • No, it’s not bad sportsmanship. It’s on the Devs for how frustrating it could be for the Killer to achieve it, not the Survivor. Bad sportsmanship is more along the lines of bleeding out people when you can easily hook them or body blocking a teammate while they’re being chased.

Though, if they weren’t toxic (I don’t consider equipping Tombstone toxic), and you know it’s a lost game and you don’t have any challenges you need to complete, you could be nice and let them have it.

  • If the Killer was bad, and relied on it as a crutch, Survivors should have had plenty of time to cleans bones during the trial. Even after it procs, all you have to do is look for the pink aura and cleanse it.

If the Killer was good and gave the Survivors no time to cleanse totems, they have then earned it to proc because they applied pressure with only three perks during the majority of the match.

NOED is fine in its current incarnation

  • If this ever comes to the game I better get a full on Velma cosmetic for Claudette.

Victor needs a Scrappy Doo onesie.

  • You can’t be slugged for more than four minutes since that’s how long the bleed out timer is.

And no, Killers should not be punished for making the best choice in order to secure a 4k. You’re free to bring in an ant-slug perk to counter them.

  • Make Bloody Coil base-kit.

Replace it with a new explosive mine add-on that causes Survivors to get launched in the air, hit the ground and put into the dying state.

  • @katoptris said:

  • They really need to give up on the broken for the rest of the match part of Invocations. Just make it 60 seconds broken and 10 seconds aura reveal to the Killer. Even then, it won’t hurt them to make Invocations stronger, not Made for This or old Dead Hard strong, but stronger than what they’re trying now.

Actually that's false, it's not one person - please do not assume.

We cannot restrict new accounts from being made and posting - reviewing each account before allowing a post to be made is not feasible, nor would it help given a lot of accounts are not connected to any other accounts.

Unfortunately we will always have people who make very random posts, some of those are genuine however, and immediately calling people trolls or alts for accounts that you think are not relevant or spammy isn't the way to go. If something breaks the rules, then please report it. We have moderators covering the weekends, if there's reports made they will deal with them.

Is it possible to limit new accounts to only being able to comment for the first 30-60 days and not start new threads? Or maybe maybe make it to where they have to make 100 comments before they can make a thread? Anything to slow them down a little.

Literally what I was about to write.

I think the only reason why she stays as she is – there is a need to be something as broken as SWF for killers.

    Yup, this is my thinking.

Only, I wouldn’t consider either broken as long as MMR works as it’s supposed to and matches the sweaty Nurses vs sweaty SWF. I’ve never had issues with Nurses in my MMR range (except when MMR is bad and mismatches us). My biggest issue is when a teammate gives up and just stops trying.

  • @frozzenk said:

Okay so let me see if I understand the nurse defenders right: They acknowledge nurse is strong, likely THE strongest. But since you cannot tap into that realm unless you are skilled then it is okay and should stay as it is. And everyone who is unlucky enough to find themselves against a skilled nurse should just accept they got the short end of the stick and that's that. Bad luck on the matchmaking! I mean, lockers, breaking LoS, etc etc are all there but if the nurse is truly skilled it won't help you. The end.

Is that the argument? And if not, how did I misinterpret it?

It sounds similar to a stacked swf, doesn’t it?

You can’t tap into that realm without bypassing game mechanics and using outside communications to call out which Killer it is, where they are at all times, when you’re about to go down to set up a pallet or flashlight save, where a lot totem is and when to body block, when the game isn’t balanced around it. And Killers who are unlucky enough to face them should just accept they got the short end of the stick and that’s that, right?
