Killer version, barring certain killers (IE Doctor), is not really useful, as Survivors lead the chase.

I agree that it's less useful than the survivor version, but i's not useless either. As killer you can herd the survivor towards certain zones. By choosing from which side to break pallet for example, or cutting their way running towards the loop they were aiming for. On some killers it's okay and on some killers it's not, but that's nothing new about perks.

It can also let you know if you're about to hit chained loops and if you should drop chase.

So it still has uses in my opinion. It's just more advanced and macro play than Windows, but not enough value compared to other killer perks for it to be brought. =)

  • I think it was event related. Definitely not a core game feature.

  • Windows is a good perk for beginners and intermediate survivors, to learn the layout of the map and looping spots. It's also useful to evaluate resources.

Not much else to talk about. It's nice, and killers have the exact same perk on their side, which is rare enough to be noted and quite amusing in game design.

Definitely one of the nicer, balanced perks.

  • Agreed, the perks should be on separate buttons. It's a fun combo and got removed without word or reason.

  • That's why I'm always happy when it's bloodruh + killer incentives time, which it was for me yesterday evening.

It's so easy to set the mood of the game as killer. I got so many snowy high fives and still walked away with 100k bloodpoints =)

  • I don't think it will recognize the DLC as you would not have all the DLC's content : buying it comes with a charm if I remember correctly.

In some cases you can get Iri Shards refunds, but the only time it happened with a friend that I can think of there was a very short time between buying with shards and buying the DLC which contained the killer.

If you're on Steam, the platform will always ask you if you accept the gift from your friend or not. Declining the gift will credit them their money back on the platform.

So in doubt, you could always do that !

  • Surprised you didn't touch on the fact that newly released characters will never have their perks in the shrine before months, sometimes a year. Statistically, if it was truly random, I feel like at some point there'd be chances of them arriving earlier on the Shrine.

That being said, I don't completely agree with you on your math. I feel like most people buy the first tier of the perk for 2K and then level up their main (or whichever character they want it on) to get it to tier 3. I know my mains on both roles already have alll tier 3 perks available to them through prestiged characters or past shrines, so if I bought one on the shrine I'd have to spend max 30k bloodpoints to get the perk up to tier 3, and that's just one killer game's worth of bp.

It's still not completely "worth it" to buy on the shrine, but I don't think it's meant to be.

I still bought tier 1 Chili & Franklin's recently on the shrine, rather than buying Leatherface, but that's also because I don't plan on buying him, and if I did it would have just been for these 2 perks.

  • Eh. They somewhat depend on the killer I guess.

Eyrie, Badham and Cowshed are not that bad on Legion because they're middle sized maps with good enough visibility, but loading on Mother's Dwelling with Legion or Hag makes me want to just mess around until next game.

I'd add RPD to the bunch, though it's not as bad on killer as it is on survivor, if it was not such a great map for Hag. Destroys my Legion games though.

Of course, I'm very biased, but that's because I don't want to speak for a killer I haven't played a fair amount. So far I can only judge for Legion, Hag and Ghostie.

The most neutral maps in my perception are Crotus Prenn's. Nothing bad to say about them. Nothing super exciting either. I like the circus on Chapel, though Maurice still hasn't returned...

  • I've had a killer keep me bodyblocked in a corner for 6 minutes, only stopping when he went to watch the stream of my friend and they told him I was part of their swf.

They got a nice report, with clip taken from their own VOD as they were [insert derogatory term here] enough to do it while live streaming with their TTV in their name.

  • I'm optimistic, but to be fair I'm new as well.

But it feels to me like BHVR has started to adress issues that have been complained about for years. So they do take feedback seriously, though a little bit late. I trust that they will commit to small changes here and there to slowly balance things towards a healthier game.

What keeps me optimistic about DbD is not the devs however. I've been matched with lots of really cool teammates and opponents lately and it feels great chatting with positive players. Hopefully people keep chilling in the near future !

Haddie has an...interesting aesthetic, but she's rare for sure.

I think a lot of people have settled into their 'favorite' survivor, with outfits etc. and it'll take either something very iconic or very different to make them switch. Vitty is big muscly shirtless dad, for instance while Haddie is...another female survivor.

    True !

I do have my favourite survivor with a cosmetic I like (biker Kate), but I often ran into other Kates, sometimes with the same outfit, and it was a bit bothersome for killers to evaluate who's who on the HUD. So I felt like switching it up a bit. For the past few weeks I've been playing as Haddie, and I'm quite fond of her now. =)

One thing's for sure, I'm not running into too many Haddies out there, so no accidental tunnel !

  • I'm not into Resident Evil and Wesker's face pisses me off (mildly affectionate), so I'm frankly much happier about Haddie ! Her perks are not that great, but I think she looks cool. Dredge I don't play, but it's a well-rounded killer that's strong in the right hands, and I can't see ######### during Nightfall, which is kind of fun.

I'm actually quite happy about 6.1., I hadn't played for long before, and the benefit of having basekit BT outweights by far any perk changes for me as my builds were generally unaffected (except for Ruin on Hag, as I used to run her base perks + survivor detection, but that wouldn't have held up anyway against better teams).

As I said, not a big fan of Project W, as I don't care for the characters, I'm not interested in Wesker's perks, and only survivor perks I was looking forward to were Reassurance (which no one brings as it got hard nerfed) and Better Than New (which was nerfed out of gen speed). Probably won't buy before a sale in the coming year.

Forged in Fog brings really good perks on both sides, so I'm happy with it. I'm not into medieval themes so the killer being used or not is not of importance to me. If anything, I think it's interesting that BHVR brings back difficult killers that take experience to use well. I generally like original killers more than licensed ones, so I'm looking forward to the next original chapter. I hope it's gonna be a cool creature.

    Again see the flow chart.

Tunnel one person means I have an easy game and survivors are under stress. Why should I be the stressed out player?

Survs eliminate gens so I need to eliminate one of them with three hooks. I get NOTHING for hooking three people one time.

At low MMR you are 100% correct. But vs efficient teams it's just not possible to win on "meh killers".

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3300955#Comment_3300955

You're suggesting I throw the game on purpose so I get easy wins. No thanks. The game is not a fair contest vs SWF unless you are playing a very strong killer. The game is not fair if you are on a big map unless you are Nurse/Blight or a mobility killer.

The bottom line issue is that Nurse vs SWF is fair on any map. Clown vs SWF might be fair if he has pinky finger on a small map but even his best addon will not win on a large map. It's so dumb.

There is zero balance for high skill play.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3301159#Comment_3301159

So by extension you're saying Otz and Truetalent suck. When they are in the same situation they tunnel to win. But a 9k hour and 7k hour streamer suck because you said so - ok.

We could say anyone that needs to bring an item sucks. We could say anyone that need to pick a map sucks. We could say anyone that only wins in a 3 or 4 man SWF absolutely sucks.

I'm not suggesting you throw the game, or try to get easy wins. I'm suggesting you start caring a little bit less about winning a bit more about your own fun. Why play at all if 75% of your time makes you feel frustrated, bored or numb, for a measly 25% that is exciting and fun ?

That being said, it's all your prerogative. I can tell when outside perspective is not welcome.

Hope your games get more interesting in the future !

That I would say is way too censored. I have not had the same experience in FFXIV, nor when I played FFXI, but I have heard the horror stories. Other than the stories I've heard, from personal experience. FFXIV is a very pleasant game to play, and doesn't destroy my mental health when I lose or do poorly. Daddy P is doing a marvelous job.

I do believe we would see a considerable change to how players interact with each other if we had added tooltips to remind players it's just a game, to respect each other, and adding a Bloodpoint incentive to receiving thumbs ups after matches. These are very easy things to add to the game - that all it does is spread positivity.

This ! I'd love if the thumbs up feature actually rewarded players with good manners.

I often meet players who are very sweet or very good sports, and I still leave a thumbsup but knowing it will not do anything is disheartening.

That is fair too, I am possibly being harsh I do admit.

I think part of the problem is people want to win and will do ANYTHING to achieve that, with a total disregard for anyone else in that process.

I admit I don't care to 'win' anymore, a win for me is having a lot of fun and wholesome post game chat makes me feel good over knowingly making the game unfun for others and getting a pile of negativity thrown my way.

Yet even with that, I still manage to 'win' the vast majority of my matches as killer

    I think that's a great mindset !

I do play the same way. My trophies are not salty comments on my steam page or any number of DCs, but tokens of wolesome endgame chats as a sign that my opponents had as much fun as I did. =)

And as you say, the results are there. Being relaxed about losing a few games from time to time makes most of my games wins or ties, as I let my mmr actually adjust.

Plus I rarely face rude people. They see me playing relaxed and chill as well.

I literally see no downside to playing this way ! =D

  • Would be too strong in my opinion.

Every hook being Monstrous Shrine (even lowered) would be very oppressive against solo teams, while the perk would lose its surprise effect on teams that can call it out as now every hook is scourge hook.

Every hook being pain res would make PR + DMS very prevalent. Plus, 10% is still a nice chunk to get every time.

Gift of Pain would trigger 100% of the time, which would be a more efficient Thana on most killers.

Floods of Rage would be extremely strong on mobility killers.

I think maybe adding a couple of scourge hooks would be okay, or coding them so that they appear spread out and not in corners, but definitely not every hook.

  • Have you ever played survivor against a Wraith ?

If not, you might want to hop into a custom with a friend to try it out, so that you can understand better how you are perceived by survivors.

As it is, Survivors don't hear you terror radius, but they do hear your footsteps and the Wraith's snarls and growls.

Every killer that has undetectable in their base kit has some sort of tell for the survivors to hear : Michael Myers breathes super loud, Ghostface's leather strips flap in the wind. I think only Pig has no tell, but that's because she's super slow when crouched.

These tells aren't super loud, obviously, but an aware survivor with their game sound a little loud can hear it.

I used to not know about it when playing survivor, and only when I was told this I started paying attention. =)

    100% this.

If you need to tunnel and camp otherwise you don't win the vast majority of your games as killer in public matches, you are just plain bad at the game - period.

I never tunnel, never camp and I never run unfun things like full regression builds or Eruption at all. I have 3k hours on both killer and survivor (though admittedly more survivor) so I think I have a pretty good game sense at this stage and I am a decent if not amazing killer.

So if I win most of my games playing 'nice' then I don't buy the excuses people make for just being plain unpleasant to others. I think as Scott Jund (who I am no fan of tbh) rightly pointed out in a recent vid, some people seem to feel entitled to win 100% of matches as killer and if they lose a match they cry about how the game is imbalanced (which it is) and survivor sided etc.

Hopefully we will see more done to address tunnelling in the new year as this combined with oppressive gen builds/Eruption are killing the game rapidly.

I do agree that a lot of killer players feel entitled to winning every match. I have a personal vendetta against winstreaks as well.

However, I wouldn't go as far as saying they're bad at the game if they need to resort to tunneling.

Survivors at high level do have stupid strong strategies at times, so getting to this point in mmr still requires skill. Remaining there is where tunneling comes in. I have no doubt that OP is an experienced player and probably much better than me at killer. I just so happen to enjoy my games more than they do theirs. =)

  • True ! RPD is phenomenal on Hag ! =)

Definitely one of my favourite maps for her, which is funny because I absolutely hate it in almost every other context.

  • I might be wrong, but I think if you need to tunnel and have 3/4 unenjoyable games to have one that is fun to you, you might just want to stick to playing without tunneling for a little while to lower your mmr a bit. That way you'll be back in a bracket where you see variety in gameplay and the games are naturally close without either side sweating too much.

To me, needing to tunnel to win games is a symptom that you're past your ideal niche and it might be time to relax a bit. Doubling down on tunneling will only make you need to resort to it more, leading to more unenjoyable game.

  • I second the medkit challenge against Plague.

I'll add the "hide in terror radius" against Ghostface, got a couple of them the other day with this challenge and it was absurdly funny.

  • To play as : Kate & Haddie

To go against : Default skin Dwight, Default skin Leon. They just look so confused, it's adorable. My killer instinct switches into protector mode. They just have to get out !

  • Trapper with no early slowdown is extremely risky. You literally can't set up and have no power. I used to play that way with Hag, another killer who needs strong setup, and after a while you just can't keep up.

My best advice would be to bring Corrupt or Deadlock (or both) and to web- I mean, heavily trap an area with 3-4 gens to make it difficult getting things done there.

Trapper can have really good games, I know when I'm facing him I become super paranoid for the next 3 games because I never expect it and don't think to watch where I'm running.

  • Your average Nurse is really fun to go against, in my opinion. I think it's exciting that it's more about jukes and mindgames than just looping.

  • Learn to give up on chases and find other targets. If that one survivor has been running you for 40sec without getting hit, they'll probably have at least 40 more (maybe even 80 more with a skillful DH), and that's a lot of time spent on gens for the others.

If the survivor is goading you with emotes or teabags, never pay attention to them. They want to be chased, and chances are they will keep hovering around you and not be on gens even if you find yourself another target. (My favorite instance of this being an Ace I faced the other day, phenomenal looper, spend a lot of the game moonwalking in the backgrpund while I was chasing other people, instead of preventing the 3gen that got his teammates killed eventually)

If you like playing them, Legion is super good at switching targets and passive slowdown. If you're tired of that one survivor you can't get down, Frenzy a little, and the locations of all 3 others are revealed to you. =)

  • I'd like to see them gone as well. They serve no purpose but to nerf the rise in grades, but since grades themselves are only for bp, why even keep negative pips ?

  • Preach !

There's nothing nicer than a good healthy endgame chat. Having experienced much toxicity in the game, most people are wary of saying nice things in endgame chat by fear of getting "ggez" or insulted in return.

But I've taken to often complimenting my opponents or checking up on them after rough games and the response is overwhelmingly positive. When shown kindness, most players relax and will be positive as well. For some people, it goes a very long way.

I've been encouraged so many times by teams who won by a landslide against me, once I showed them I was admirative of their skill rather than salty over my loss. People being jerks in endgame chat sounds quite foreign to me, and that lets me queue up again with no stress or resentment carried over.

There's literally no downside to not being a sore loser/winner.

  • She's actually maybe the killer with the most counters, and in my opinion could get a little more love from the devs. I feel like most of her power and pressure comes from teams being unused to facing her, like you were. =)

If you manage to set off her traps regularly at strategic times (while she's far or carrying someone, or when she's in chase and you're healthy to maybe divert her attention from your injured teammate) she'll lose a lot of times resetting them, as without traps she's pitiful in chase.

  • I love that logic. You know what, if the next chapter is Alien, with a PTB coming out on Valentine's Day specifically because they give face hugs, I'll gift you the DLC. Just for the laugh ! X)

  • I didn't read through all of them, and some I agreed on, some I didn't. Chili for example is at a nice place in my opinion. It's still used by 20% of killers, so I don't think it's disappeared or in need of a buff. Even without the bloodpoint bonus, it's a really solid perk.

I was interested in your rework of Territorial Imperative though, mostly because it's the first one that came to mind when I read "killer perk reworks" ! I like what you're offering, still is a bit inconsistent because sometimes you won't get basement hooks at all, but would make some nice stealth plays.

I'd thought about a Territorial Imperative rework at some point, a new effect as well. It's in the same spirit, but more consistent. You could set a small perimeter (14m -> 20m diameter, question mark ?) in any area with an action key, that would make this area your territory. Anytime a survivor is in this territory, the perk icon would light up with a number telling how many survivors are in your territory. That would make it a strong perk to monitor areas, and an actual tool for map control. You could change your territory location after a long cooldown (120 to 100s feel appropriate, but it's a very rough estimate).

I wouldn't say 25% of all matches is "rarely". One out of four? That would be absurdly many. But I have encountered them to a degree that I cannot say "never."

Yeah, they had the same crazy answer items in the last survey, about "possible hackers". I was just making a post about it to have a collective laugh at how mind boggling it is that no one took a second to think that maybe it's a little silly !

  • I definitely try !

I know they love it because they always reward me with a fun party hat =)

  • There are a lot of unkind people in this game, but fortunately they're not the norm. Gratuitous trolls bordering on griefing like this only happened a couple of times in 300h for me.

Then there are cocky players not caring about anyone's fun but theirs, but generally not to the point of actual griefing. Those you just have to learn to move on from.

But in my experience, most people you will meet in this game will be neutral. They're random people playing the game, just like you. With a few kind words in endgame chat, you can coax them out of their shell and see they're actually really nice ! =)

Read your comment before it was edited, and don't you worry. I can't control how my teammates act or talk, but I'm all for spreading positivity inside and outside the game. =)

Same when I play killer !

There are so many nice people in this game ! It's a shame the loudest people are the more toxic.

Hope your future survs are kinder to you =)

This is awesome. I’m a smallish / newer streamer. I play primarily killer while streaming. I met a super good team, and afterwards one of them came into the stream to say wassup. They now watch every stream start to finish and we run SWF daily. My favorite part of streaming is the wholesome interaction is sometimes brings in between the people that come in to share hateful comments.

That's so cool ! I love that for you. =D

  • I check twitch and generally, if they're streaming I'll dodge.

I've never had a bad experience with them, but I play to relax and I don't want to wonder if they're making fun of me. Maybe all that "salty ttv rages on [x] !!" fearmongering on youtube is getting to me.

I can't really help it if the streamer is the killer and I'm survivor, so those match I do have to play out, and if the killer is live and played fair I'll go on the stream to say gg and maybe watch a couple of their games after I'm done playing. If they seem chill and like they wouldn't make fun of my mistakes, I'll rewatch our game to see how it looked from their perspective.

That's actually how I met a guy I play with sometimes. He's such a nice dude ! Immediately offered to play together despite seeing how bad I was.

His rewatch was interesting, because during the game, from our point of view, it looked like he'd proxied a lot my hooked friend ; but from his, he'd seen a glimpse of my other friend crouching nearby while carrying and was looking for her (even though she was now long gone). At the time my hooked friend cried "he's proxying ! that's so uncool of him !" along with some expletives, the streamer spoke a very confused "where the hell did this Nea go ??".

That was definitely a lesson in perspective for us !

  • As killer, I'm lucky to often have Killer Instinct in my base kit (I play Legion a lot), so in those situations I'll always give it a little Frenzy to try and find the sneaky survivor.

As survivor, to prevent this kind of situation, most times I'll go find the killer and offer my sacrifice for the other survivor to have a chance at hatch. Since I'm not at a very high level, most times when this happens it's a shy casual/beginner, so I know it's not malicious in intent. Sometimes killers hook me, sometimes they want one last chase, sometimes they tell me to get to work while they find the sneaky sneak. But I know it sucks to have 10min of hide and seek, so I always offer to speed things up if there's no hope of the objective getting done. =)

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Would love to echo this sentiment except I'm literally yet to see any killer go into a snowman this entire event.

I'm sorry to hear that !

I've met a few this past weekend, from a Pinhead desperately trying to come into my snowman (and promptly finding his own when realizing it was occupied) to a Wesker using snowmen to hide his terror radius and sneak up on us. =D

  • I only told him to survive one game with no perks (and he chose no item) to count towards the achievement. I wasn't about to ask him to do the whole achievement in a few hours during the event ! X)

  • There are sore losers on both sides.

Skilled survivors are often disregarded as "But it's literally so easy to play survivor ! You just have friends and guaranteed win ! Killers are so weak !" and get BM'd.

Skilled killers are often disregarded as "But it's literally so easy to play killer ! You just tunnel and guaranteed win ! When I play killer, I 4K every game !" and get BM'd.

  • I challenged a streamer friend to do this until he escaped once, for a charity event. He's usually quite skittish and a very poor looper.

By insane luck, he was matched against a Michael that didn't manage to kill anyone. Got it first try !

    Best 20 bucks spent I guess ! =D

  • I'd never used a flashlight before, and I run up to the killer just a bit too late. Haven't gotten a save yet.

I like to think my IQ is higher than a cabbage.

  • Very cool indeed ! I ran into a couple of them today, beautiful.

  • Iron Will would be okay if there was not the exhaustion clause.

  • I would absolutely love a game health chapter rather than another character.

  • The most used second chance perks are already disabled once the gates are powered (Off the Record, DS).

Killers do not need general buffs, they need attention individually. Killers are already doing quite good according to official stats. Some of them are easily on par with very good teams.

The others have their own issues : getting their power too slowly or losing it too easily, it being countered by buggy environment, their whole mechanics being on the weaker side, booty cheeks addons...

Rework killers individually. They don't need bandaid basekit number changes, they don't need NOED base kit, they need their actual power to be strong and fun to use.

It should work. Never actually paid too much attention to how much heals ive done since i feel like i get the aura just by touching an injured person :D I think this perk is very underrated. I feel naked when i take it off

Tried it for a few games yesterday and oh my, I'm not taking it off anytime soon !! =D

You know which gens are progressing. You can even estimate how far they are if you're on a gen as well ! Your teammates can find you when they need to heal. They can find you if they have Prove Thyself. They know not to lead the killer to you. You know who's going for the rescue and who's being chased at any time.

    That's so precious !

I've had a couple of games where at some point I could see all three other players (one of them being my friend, but we're terrible at actually saying where we are besides "close to a big rock"), and the fact that they could see me as well from the other side of the map is amazing.

    Definitely underrated ! =D

  • We almost have that, with Windows - Zanshin Tactics, and to a lesser extent Fogwise - Gearhead.

    I think it's a fun concept !

  • Nightlight is biased, using mostly games of experienced players (few new players know about Nightlight) on english speaking countries.

So it can't be the basis of buffs and nerfs, though it's still good to see your own stats.

Also, as others have said, Knight is very new, a bit buggy, and has a high learning curve. He needs time and a bugfix more than a buff right now.

1 … 20 21 22 23 24 … 57
