  • Doesn't one of his add ons already do that? Plus it'd basically just be like demo's shred but better.

You don't need to take it like a personal attack: The difference between a bad player and an inexperienced one is whether they're willing to improve and learn from mistakes. Instead of focusing on the end result (hook timer death) think more about what you could have done differently. You mentioned you looped him for a while and got downed, and you acknowledged that you bought time for your team. Thats you doing your part to contribute, so thats what you focus on since its what you can personally control. The whims of your teammates are going to be outside of your control, so there is no point focusing on or complaining about those: they might as well be random chance to you. All you can do is do your best with your own personal contribution, as well as assisting your allies. Literally anything else, including overall outcome, is secondary to that.

If you can honestly say you could not have done any better, then just wash your hands of it. Or even better, try to see what other players do to overcome similar situations. Believe it or not a lot of these things affect successful players just as much as unsuccessful ones, the difference being countermeasures designed to minimize how much you get dragged down by others. Also believe it or not, those countermeasures usually involve playing in a way that carries teammates more than abandons them.

You didn't write the post i responded to. Certainly seemed like a personal attack or attempt at trolling.

I'm confident i contribute to the game. My last game for example, (up to 15 games with no escapes btw) iridescent benevolent/evader, gold light bringer (92 points so just a shade off of iridescent) and silver unbroken because i died. Top of my team, multiple unhooks. The first time i get hooked i progress to 2nd hook because nobody bothers to help me. Even though killer is somewhere on the other side of the map. I ran the killer for a merry chase at least 3 times, buying loads of time.

Granted i don't do that well in all my games maybe 50-70%. But after performing like that and still getting mori'd because nobody bothered to unhook me for ages. I literally almost timed out to sacrifice again.

Surely you can see how that's frustrating right? It isn't how the game should be. I dont expect to escape from every single game, but there should be an average or just below average chance to escape any given game. 80% of the games I've played today have been 3 or 4 ks. With the 3s being down to hatch. And that's consistent with my solo queue games regardless of how i perform. It's unbalanced.

  • @RatbasterdJr said:

its really not that bad. The only reason solo q fails is bad players. Maybe you’re one yourself? People are so dramatic about solo q. Lmao

So getting left on hook and timing out makes me a bad player? I'd looped that wesker for at least 45 secs to a minute maybe more, and he only caught me by the skin of his teeth on a really good virulent bound a fraction of a sec before i could drop pallet. I know it helped other players finish gens. But then he hooks me, and no one bothers to help. First hook times out till i die, didn't try to kobe and hit all my skill checks.

Some games I'll do bad, not knowing the maps. But others I'll perform well on, distract the killer plenty, get gens done. If you read my original post I'm not an amazing hyper looper but i understand how the game works and I'm definitely competent. But i can't carry a whole team that refuses to help me.

Sounds like skill issue from your teammates. BHVR can't fix bad players.

But if they gave us VC we could at least call out where killer is and exchange useful info. Even players without mics can hear and act on what people are saying. Worst case scenario it certainly can't hurt our chances at all and if ppl get toxic just mute em.

  • Iron maiden makes em scream. There are a fair few perks that trigger screams, but doctor and clown are probably the easiest.

  • Left for dead probably, unless ypu get lucky and the killer hooks the 3rd sacrifice just as you are finishing gen. Tbh i think the one for hiding in lockers to end chases 35 times is pretty hard. Its seldom works unless you force it by bothering a killer carrying a survivor then running to a locker before the chase ends

  • Yeah it's very easy to avoid pallet stuns as killer. Have to admit i didn't think of this or I'd have run into more pallets so ppl could do challenges. The most frustrating part of the game for me is trying to do specific challenges.

  • Solo queue is always going to be skewed, because the skill level and teamqork of the average solo queue player is pretty abysmal. My matches as killer generally go one of two ways, i either get a team of randos and pretty much destroy them. Or i get an swf team of prestige 12s who have 3 gens done by the time i have one hook and i end up with zero kills. They loop me, body block hooks and get some pretty hard blinds.

survivors are all about team work and skill at running the killer. Running a killer for a long time is extremely hard but if a survivor is good they can do it practically indefinitely. Most players can't and solo queue teams often have very bad team work. If survivors were buffed/general killer nerfed then swf teams would be impossible to beat. They need to find a way to make solo queue more viable without buffing swf too. Imo best way to do that is add in game VC for survivors.

  • Ooh. Lady dimetrescu would make an excellent killer too.

  • I've been playing about a month and it's a great game. The concept is a lot of fun. Sure i have bad games, bullying swf teams who gen rush, toxic killers who tunnel and stab me on hook.

But a lot of good interactions as well, a david king who sacrificed himself to save me in the end game, 80% of the time if I'm winning as killer I'll allow the last survivor to get hatch. A laurie strode who fed me another survivor when i was demo.

Excellent game, does need some balancing but nothing is perfect.

  • I doubt any of them could. The killers are tortured and moulded by the entity and she can simply banish them to the void if she wants to. Pinhead is really the only one who can voluntarily travel between dimensions to escape that fate. Perhaps the demo too since it can voluntarily open portals to the upside down, but it isn't really intelligent enough to want to do that.

  • I'd love to see the indo raptor from jurassic world. It'd be an amazing killer and would be intelligent enough to obey the entity and sacrifice survivors. Would have good tracking and stealth perks methinks.

Side note it surprises me that jason vorhees hasn't been added to the game yet. Perhaps the xenomorph from alien.

  • Definitely death slinger. I love his lore, and fleshing it out would be really cool. Tell us about some of the bounties he goes after. Also would like to see a tome for demo but that won't happen soon for obvious reasons.

  • Well the blight has canonically interacted with the other killers. Doing experiments on them with the serum.

  • It's a legitimate and effective strategy. Survivors need to play smarter instead of fixing the first gens they see. I always make a point of getting gens on the opposite side of the map to my last one. And I'll usually make a play at the risky gen in the centre usually. Get that one done early and life is much easier.

I'll often 3 gen as killer, it's effective, and gen rush teams will often finish 1 or 2 gens while you get the first 2-3 hooks.

  • Lol just a constructive suggestion. I guess killer mains would disagree but i split my playing down the middle. I'd be happy for survivors not to lose a torch if i ran lightborn.

  • Yeah no. I think people with high mmr have a very skewed perception of how good survivors actually are. I suppose if you keep coming up against swf seal team 6s then yeah looping is a pain. But most survivors can't loop to save their lives. Including me. Less pallets would make solo queue intolerable and drive away new players.

  • I mean if someone's gonna quit the game after one bad match, shows they don't have much patience. Literally every multiplayer game has toxic players and tactics that while legit, are frowned upon, i.e. face camping. Dbd is a good game, i started less than a month ago, and I have my share of terrible matches both as killer and survivor. But i also have really good ones, where GGs were exchanged, compliments and advice given.

Just gotta take the rough with the smooth and not worry about it too much. I dislike getting slugged by nurses as much as the next player but it's just finish the game and on to the next one.

I had a terrible game as Huntress where I couldn't land a single hatchet to save my life. All gens done with like two hooks. A bunny Feng decided to give me a pity hook with maybe 30 seconds left of EGC.

    I had Blood Warden.

    Oof bet they regretted that

  • Just put on shattered hope if you see a michaela or a jonah in the lobby lol

  • @Kira4Evr said:

I let the last one go If that survivor is a cutie or if I'm bored and it's faster to let them go than to kill them

Survivor being a cutie is the best logic I've heard 🤣

  • They need to add vc for solo queue. It wouldn't solve the problem completely, but even one person speaking, calling out killer location, giving advice would make a huge difference to a lot of matches

He doesn't have "good map control" He has literally the opposite. No movement ability. 4.4 MS. Slinger is pretty bad BECAUSE of that fact.

He has strong chase though. Which is fun

By map control i mean he's good at covering a large area. Mainly on an open map, people are very twitchy about moving on gens that you are guarding as him

  • I feel like demo really needs add ons to be very effective

  • Definitely ghost face. I love the sigh of exasperation lol.

  • @Xenontyx said:

I let the last survivor escape almost all of the time unless he was toxic to me or his teammate or if I have a challenge to do.

But I dont like to be blatant when I let him go. So as a sneaky ghostface main, I prefer to close the hatch, and wait until the survivor open the door. Then i mark him and chase him so he gets to the exit just in time, to make him feel like the main character of a horror movie.

    This ^^

  • Yh i seriously doubt you had 10 in a row. People will take you more seriously if you don't use hyperbole

  • As a survivor I'd love a second for dead hard. But it's a funny perk to balance because mlg survivors will abuse the hell out of it if it's buffed to make it easy for newer players to hit it

  • Interesting to see the different opinions here. Still feel like some killers are being a bit harsh lol. Nothing wrong with letting last survivor go, especially if it's been a good game. Doesn't lose you much as killer, whereas a survivor escaping gets 7k bp, it's a lot for a survivor, 25-33% of the total score for a good game. So I'd advocate killers doing it a bit more but obvs everyone does their own thing.

Had a funny one yesterday though I spent a good 2 mins carrying a streamer over my shoulder in rpd yesterday looking for hatch for them lol. It'd been a great game but i outplayed them hard and could've had the 4k with 2 gens left. But he hadn't bagged or torch spammed me and he didn't struggle when i picked him up so i let him.

Now i just wish someone would do it for me lol still need that achievement for crawling out the hatch

  • One of these days I'm going to try a no mither build, with dead hard obvs and the perks that buff you when you're injured just because it'd be funny af

(in general I despise every kind of map offering... The map should be random imo, it would be more interesting)

Yh and the rule that if all 4 survivors bring the same level offering it cancels the killers counter offering. That would so obviously be a seal team 6 of bullies lol

  • Ah fair enough. I hate that map so much lol. One offering I'll never use.

  • You mean it just requires a bit of skill and timing now? I get good use out of it, but only with planning, it's hard to use on reflex. If you could consistently trigger it 100% of the time it would be broken af.

  • Obviously trickster, but the image of a demogorgon doing the charleston is too funny not to mention.

Youd be surprised to see how many survivors sacrificed themselves by letting the timer run out because i played nice. I have had nancys, jill and kates all die for me which makes me sad. I unfortunately dont have a video to prove it but yes some survivors do let you kill them. I actually because friends with someone online because i was playing nice as demogorgon and she didnt want to escape so she let the entity take her

I accidentally did this too someone when i was playing legion, i used feral rush to hit them then backed off and nodded to let them know i could get them but that they could do lever. They forgot to fix the deep wound first and went down, by the time i picked them up, let them wiggle out the timer was too far gone to get the exit gate open and they died to timer. :'(

I'd say the majority of the time.

If the last survivor didn't give up, didn't BM me at any point in the game and didn't do anything iffy, I'll generally give gate or hatch.

I don't lose much BP and they gain a decent amount, plus they'll probably pip.

The only times I won't are when I'm pushing for Iri grades, doing a specific challenge or you've managed to annoy me. One teabag and you're done.

Same here. No BM then I'll usually let em go, as you say, doesn't lose the killer very much at all but the survivor gets like 7k for surviving

  • @Tostapane said:

Happened yesterday in a match that I did as pinhead. Usually I wouldn't do it due to the extreme amount of toxicity that I get in my matches, but for some weird reason yesterday I had a couple of chill matches, so I decided to do it

I wonder if that was my game lol. Had a pinhead yesterday on coldwind farm that fairly destroyed us and gave hatch to our last team member.

I mean man, as a slinger main I have to admit, the only reason I 4k or wreck a team is because they let that happen, they could mop the floor with me if they really wanted to, but for some reason they trhow the match, you offer convincing argumenta but nothing will change my mind that the second slinger faces good players he is just plain bad.

Idk. Don't often see good teams throw the match and He's pretty good at guarding gens. Had a game yesterday with a solid team. I herded them away from one corner. Got like 3 hooks over the first 4 gens, then i had them three genned and ended up with a 4k. They were pretty good at looping but if you're a good shot with gunslinger one wrong step by a survivor and you'll have em hooked. It's easy to keep them all injured and the gens pressured. Then start getting those hooks. Plus his natural perks are good for gen control, maybe pop jolt on him too. Although his add ons are definitely pretty weak

  • Yeah i wreck with gunslinger. Survivor makes one wrong step in the open and you reel them in like a screaming terrified fish lol. And he makes vault locations a lot more risky for survivors.

  • Lol yh survivors like that frustrate me. Like it's unecessary and I'm going to tunnel you for it. Or if you are a pro mlg looper i'm just not going to let you bait me. Have fun getting hatch after i kill all the others. They get so salty when they realise they can't bait and loop you.

  • It's frustrating when ppl trigger it but it is skill based. The timing is very fiddly and it's very easy for the survivor to mistime the press. If you hit soon as possible then they'll trigger it. If you hold of one second you bait it out

  • @SuzuKR said:

I don’t know why it’s a bad thing for a killer to try and get a 4K. Have you considered just not unhooking a teammate? Do you really need the 4 escape that bad? Why not just settle for 3?

Why wouldn’t it be disadvantageous for survivors? That’s literally the point. The killer already got 2 kills and downed a third. It is meant to be in their favor. Same way it is when gates are open and a killer has nobody on death hook.

It's a pretty nasty way of playing. Slugging 4 players just so one doesn't escape? Doesn't really benefit anyone at all. Everyone loses out on bloodpoints. 4 ks are nice but losing a survivor to hatch isn't the end of the world for a killer. Unless you're going for an adept achievement, but then if you want merciless, a 4 slug probably won't score enough for it anyway

See I used that exact build against a Doc on Midwitch.......after 8 blinds and 10 pallet stuns later I got camped for some odd reason and smacked over 30 times while on hook.....they then let everyone else go.

I asked them "Did I do something to irritate you"

Thier response "You can shove that flash light where the sun don't shine"

We both laughed about it and he apologized for camping me but I did deserve it 🤣🤣🤣

So much for an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apparently torch works much better 🤣

  • Yeah it's nice to have some characters linked in with this whole underground society/cult thing. But it's nice to have a few random survivors who are just unlucky enough to get pulled in. Would be really cool if they added in a survivor who is just a rejected killer, like Rin Yamaoka's father.

  • Solo survivor 5. My tactics are reasonably sound but I'm still fairly new and i can't loop to save my life

Swf 7 usually perform much better with friends. Vc makes a huge difference yo

Killer 7 idk if this is overinflated because my mmr hasn't caught up yet, but I've been playing just over two weeks and got to gold 3. I can usually catch who i chase in fairly short order. And I'm good at mind games, when someone tries to distract me i find it kind of obvious so ill back off and harry gens, then ambush them when they go for saves or punish them for bodyblocking. and I'm good at predicting and cutting off survivors by taking shortcuts to catch up. Basically i just ignore people who are good at looping because all it does is waste my time.

  • I feel like people who complain about lightborn literally use torches as their main method of gameplay. It's not like any survivor perks really work off of torch so it's not too OP.

That said I'd probably be a little irritated if i brought in a heavy duty torch, opaque bulb and sapphire lense to find a killer playing lightborn.

Maybe they could make it so lightborn also protects the survivor against losing their item if they bring in a torch?

  • Yeah rpd is a harsh map. I'm new ish to the game so i dont know that map very well and it shows. If players know that map they will dominate. I always find myself getting boxed in by killers on there because i get lost lol

  • Pretty valid video. Makes me think that regression perks or ones that make gens hard to do are some of the worst games I've played on dbd. Skillcheck doctors are right up there with nurse sweats for me.

  • Oh this would TANK the matchmaking. You realise how toxic a lot of survivors are right? I've had more hatemail off of survivors on my team than off my opponent in a match.

I mean i was watching a dbd streamer yesterday, who doubled back from exit gate to try and save the last survivor being chased. Said survivor ended up dying anyway, and then jumped on the streamers chat and started giving them grief for not leaving so hatch could spawn. Like #########? They made an active effort to try and help them and the still got toxic.

Was like a prestige 16 character too. Players like that will block so many people. And not be able to find a game. Plus one bad game doesn't make a bad team. Brand new player who can't hit skill checks could be a perfectly solid team mate one monh down the line.
