Which is nigh nonexistent and pretty inconsistent in general.
If it was actually reliable to "just run an exhaustion perk/addon", DH wouldn't ever be a problem because same applies to it.
Idk I just don't think mft is a huge issue for the game in general. I used it a couple of times to get my gabriel adept and it just didn't do that much. And I've not had any issues against it as killer.
And depending who you play there is a lot of exhaustion infliction around to use. Plus using mft does lock you out of most exhaustion perks. Apart from dh but dh is pretty bad now.
-
So by best designed you mean scariest. I legit hate playing against dredge tbh. The nightfall mechanic is just extremely irritating.
All things considered demo is the best designed killer imo. Scary and extremely well balanced.
-
Honestly who cares? If we were losing another killer I could understand the issue. And i doubt that we will lose many in the forseeable future. Game isnt dying anytime soon, not if big names like nic cage are getting involved.
-
I mean good counterplay is just to run an exhaustion perk/addon.

I've played survivor pretty much all day, and every match has almost been against a Doctor, his madness power gives me a headache and I can't stand his stupid red stain add-ons, plus the shock stuff on my screen and screaming makes it so frustrating to verse him.
Please BHVR, do not give Doctor anymore tomb challenges anymore I beg you, anything to decrease the amount of Doctors will bless my games.
Have you tried eating an apple? You know what they say about apples.
Srsly tho there will be a few more doctors atm, he has tome challenges
-
I haven't used it much but every time I have tried it I have become a super heal bot. Crazy how quick you can get heals off at max tokens.
-
Killer: Unbalanced landing: whenever a survivor falls from a great height while in chase with you their recovery takes twice as long and they suffer from 10% hindered
Survivor: pop goes the gen: when you are unhooked gain a token when you next start to repair a generator the token is expended and instantly grants 20% progress on the generator.
-
I mean you're playing twins. It is their most effective tactic. And if they deserved it? More power to you.
-
I mean for a lot of streamers being toxic or encouraging toxicity just increases engagement. Tbh sounds more like this streamer simply didn't want drama from you.
There are some nice streamers about.

The first 2 times it didn't pop for me. Got it on the third. With me, I suspect it was due to in one game the person DC when I put them on their death hook and the second game one of the survivors bled out.
Yh a DC will prevent an adept and I'm pretty sure a bleed out will too. But i got 4 kosher sacrifices in both games

I had that happen to me when I attempted Adept Singularity, have you restarted your console? (If you're console). It eventually popped for me after I restarted my console then played normal killer matches.
Yeah one attempt yesterday and another today. Weird that it isn't triggering
-
Yh singularity's power is not good for 3 genning. Emps knock out your pods for so long that a co ordinated team of survs can keep them perma deactivated across 3 gens.

As i said somewhere else, this map has the strongest main building in the entire game
For who? It's risky af for survivors, it's very easy to inadvertently drop into the killers clutches.
-
I've really been enjoying playing against him in my surv games. 3 games so far, two 2ks and a 3k i think. He feels balanced, power is interesting and counterplay isn't too hard. emps are maybe a bit too strong. I'm looking forward to trying him in my killer games tonight.
-
I hate self care. Number of times I've died on hook because someone is sat playing with themselves for 30+ seconds to heal is higher than times I've got downed because I couldn't find someone to fix me.
Bond is much better for getting healed than self care. And there are other much better less time consuming perks to heal with.
-
Yh I'm not looking forward to going for mine. About 50-70% of my games involve a DC as killer, no hyperbole. So many players will just hit that power button the second they get downed.
Idk why devs let it happen, and they knew it was going to. I asked about this when they talked about changing adepts and a forum mod literally confirmed DCs would stop an adept, radio silence when I said that seemed unfair.
-
Huh weird. I saw singularity in 3 out of 5 games last night.

Mettle of man is the only protection perk that ignores deep wound; they tried to change it a while ago (Reduce protection hits to 2, make it not work when in deep wound) but it was the only perk both killers and survivors wanted to keep it's unique protection; after all, its requirements do have you go out of your way to protect your team, and so many felt it was a deserved second chance
Cool. Tbf it is a pretty interesting perk. May need to try it some time

Yh it's really hard. I manage the odd save sometimes but most of the time I whiff it. Got lucky finding this out lol if ypu know ehat hook killer is going to go for you can catch them with it a bit easier. Still is fiddly though, pretty sure I started the blind as killer walked up to the hook

At least you did it 😁 nice one
Also that scoreboard looks weird lol what happened that game?

I get a few salty players now and then but I find you get out what you put in. I'm usualy able to talk ppl round and calm them down the majority of the time if they are annoyed with how I've played. Not all the time, once every month or two I get someone who is just wildly toxic but usually we have a decent chat even if they are initially annoyed.
Perhaps it's because as a console player, I don't have endgame chat. I think that's where a lot of dbd's toxicity dwells and it really should be temoved. What better time to let killers and survivors communicate than just after the game when tempers are flaring after a loss?
-
It's a common mistake. Especially when you have one injured surv feels like they'll be the quickest down versus the 3 uninjured ones. But gen pressure is a thing. You let 2 gens pop in first chase and it's going to be a tough game where you have zero room for mistakes unless survs aren't smart enough and 3 gen themselves.
-
Ugh yh it's a difficult one, not everybody is a flashlight jockey. I was trying to get it for the longest time. Also interesting tip. It doesn't have to be a flashlight save. I blinded a killer who was in the hooking animation, because my flashlight was juiced up with bulbs and i started just before killer hooked I got the blind and finished the challenge mid animation because the while being hooked killer is technically carrying the surv
-
Your dedication scares me
Well done tho

Adding endgame mori without basekit unbreakable is utterly insane. The whole reason they were looking at the mori rework was to give killers an advantage against basekit UB. If they add this mori thing then it will encourage killers to slug even more for a quick win.
I've disliked the concept ever since they mentioned it, i like pulling the odd mori as killer, and I want to do it on my terms. Plus when I decide to spare survs it often involves downing them, going to a hook, shaking my head and allowing them to struggle out. Mori rework would stop me doing that. Basekit cypress is a much better idea.

I was sitting pretty at 25k but i caved a decided to buy bill's cosmetic. That and all the new perks I've wanted from the shrine I'm flipflopping between 2k and 0 every week 😅

Gen rushing never becomes toxic, it is just hyper efficient play. The problem is that the game needs a more stable pacing so people can actually have fun, but currently with the way the game is design both killers and survivors can and do optimize the game to be played at pacing that isn't sustainable. The most direct fixes would be making the survivor objective more complex which introduces a baked in level of inefficiency that in theory should have limited optimization. That means hard time gates where things have to happen at a specific pace due to factors like needing to run to grab an item or do an interaction with another element. In the case of killers the most direct way to fix the level of optimization in the game is to make so strategies like tunneling and camping are useful, but toothless in terms of actually progressing the game. Like if you're really hammering a specific survivor with back to back hooks they should probably not just outright die. That would need a change to how killer gameplay works though that is a bit more complex than I can express at the moment.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3447635#Comment_3447635
You don't like when people use the term, but it is not a new term and it very much is a real thing. It has been a thing since the beginning and has in many ways gotten worse over time due to power creep.
I feel as if there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what people saying when they talk about gen rushing. I can't understand why people have the position of it isn't a real scenario that actually fairly common, but also has degrees. High optimization strats are just a thing that naturally happens in games across the board and that is to a degree okay. The situation we're in right now though is that even with BHVR having made some minor adjusts to add more base time to the survivor objective they've not really taken a big swing at modifying the objective. What they have done though is continued to add more perks to the game that essentially override the additional time increase while also leaving toolboxes for the most unchanged. Toolboxes are very strong and always have been, they aren't at their absolute peak anymore to be sure. They're still very strong and this is problematic in combination with the stacking of perks that increase gen repair speed or toolbox longevity.
Gen rushing as it is commonly understood is when the pace of game is pushed much harder and faster through survivor objective optimization than a killer can be realistically expected to keep up with. It's not just survivors doing their objective, but the speed in which is getting done. Now, most games won't really be gen rushed even the pacing is slightly higher, but when you're seeing gens are being completed 30 seconds or more faster it becomes significantly harder for the majority of killer characters to keep up. Part of the reason Trapper is as bad as he is currently has to do with the fact that by design he needs more time to set up. That's time he's not really going to have when you factor in the items, addons, and perks that make gen rushing scenarios happen.
In the past it wasn't exactly a prevalent issue due to the requirements of close coordination and generally the level player knowledge and understanding just being low cause we were all either learning or playing in very passive ways compared to how we play now. 2016/2017 DBD is almost entirely a different game compared to what we have now due how players approach to the game has changed. Generally, the skill floor has naturally increased so now bad players today are equal to decent players back then. That's baseline so now hyper optimal play is more universal and power creep has added to this. It important that people realize this and that there is degrees to how gen rushing looks and feels.
Some people will only consider a rush scenario as being a full 4 stack BNP squad running every perk possible that increases gen speed. That's a rush to be sure, but that's at the highest end of the spectrum. What's more common right now is maybe a commodius with wire spool and couple bnps with the every thing being normal-ish perk wise. That's still a rush, but it isn't an extreme rush meaning it's manageable for killers who have some way to pressure the game or move around the map faster than normal. More difficult for killers with no movement speed increases outside perks. Which to a degree is acceptable that's like the low end, but you don't want that multiple games in a row and you don't want the extreme end of spectrum at all. There needs to be real changes made to smooth out the amount swing both sides can put on the game.
Yh toxic is probably the wrong word, perhaps i should have gone with problematic or unbalanced, like when does it become an issue to game play. I've noticed that certain killers are more vulnerable to gens getting repaired fast, like twins for example, they take a long time to end chase AND get a surv on a hook.
Perhaps modifying gen speeds depending on the killer in a given match may be an option. Traversal killers or killers who down very quickly in chase like nurse, wesker blight etc don't have to worry about gens as much as a trapper or freddy does.
-
Usually, i mean if you're 5 gens down and 1 or no kills it's a bit of a no brainer. If I don't have a kill then I pretty much always camp an endgame hook. At the very least it usually lets me farm a few extra hook states. No killer likes to finish a game with 0 kills. Even though 1 is still technically loss for killer I'm not hugely fussed if 3 survs escape.
Conversely as killer I'm not a fan of 4ks either, I pretty much always release 1 or more usually 2 survs. Unless they have been particularly obnoxious towards me or I notice that they've deliberately sabotaged their teammates.
-
Hag and pig are both rare ones for me. Went through a brief stage of seeing a few twins games last month. But the one killer I noticeably havent seen for the longest time is freddy, genuinely can't remember the last time I saw him in game.

my most favorite types of games. its especially funny when you pick your special survivor in a match and carry them with you, nod your head, or do silly things with them like "repairing a generator" (letting the first hit of the gen break animation play, then canceling)
lots of treats and lots of love.

Hee hee had a surv come over and pet me before they left so I pet them back by spamming the set portal animation button lol 😊 can't wait to start properly prestiging my demo boi, gonna finish jeff first though. Got him on 57 and counting

Got sick of playing so many miserable games as killer vs constant gen rush or stun/blind/boilsabo spam, tired of feeling like I could never catch up in chase without playing a movement based killer and tired of constantly watching survivors DC every time I almost kill them.
So I decided to sink 35 levels worth of BP into Meg and ended up with purple versions of Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Hope and Adrenaline, ended up playing about 20 games today.
Overall the last two perks have either been worthless because we never make it to endgame or absolutely gamebreaking because we do.
So many games ended in the first 90 seconds either because someone randomly DC'd or suicided on hook, seriously the behavior on display was an embarrassment.
Almost all of my losses could be attributed to either:
- My team being incompetent or self sabotaging.
- My own incompetence or self sabotage
There were only a few instances where I generally felt like I was cheated either by the game, the netcode or some other unknown issue, and these were pretty rare. Out of 20 or so games here is the short list of things I found cheap/bothersome
- Freddy breaking two pallets in a row, I assume spirit fury is the first but I don't know what caused the second, either way it didn't feel very good to basically do nothing wrong with the resources at my disposal and still die for it.
- Instadowns/instakills. Tombstone myers needs to go away, condemn sadako is no better, and I swear I got double hit by ghostface and myers without exposure and I'm not sure how. These just never feel good, at least if it were a hillbilly or even an oni I could respect the amount of skill it takes to pilot properly but the rest just irritate me.
- Getting grabbed off a ledge by stealthed sadako when I vaulted before she was even close, netcode issue probably but boy that felt awful.
- I kept getting popped after sprint burst, like rapidly, way faster than I can ever manage as a killer, by basic m1 hits and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Besides that the game felt fair 99% of the time, though not always very fun. I've been saying genrush or die is not a very interesting gameplay dynamic and playing survivor just further confirms it.
Survivors really need more to do than just generators, but in order for that to happen games need to take longer and survivors need some form of intervention to stop huge snowballs, but most importantly they need to stop being entitled little bitches who DC or suicide at the first opportunity because THAT is what is ruining most of their games.
Yh constant DCs are awful. Also the freddy issue was probably dream pallets. He has an add on that creates fake pallets which break as soon as surv tries to drop them. Like doctors but even worse.
You're highlighting the main issue with the game, mmr royally screws ppl, killers tend to play themselves into a high mmr hole and get stuck with high mmr teams who stomp killers, whilst low mmr surv teams always have multiple weak links who run around like headless chicken with less enthusiasm.
We need a casual playlist so people can play less sweaty games instead of players who play like they would happily sell their own children to get a few pips.
-
Yh just so many green items versus the number of red items.
-
I'm down for this. Made threads suggesting it myself. A casual queue with no minthly ranking rewards and a competitive queue to earn pips for monthly rewards would be so much better.
Of course you'd still get the odd player/team who would explicitly join casual queue just to make life miserable for people. But on the whole it would help. Plus casual queue could have a an upvote/downvote or endorsement system, maybe like the one overwatch uses. Could supply BP rewards, special cosmetics or maybe even be the basis for the matchmaking, so if players deliberately troll and play disrespectfully they get down voted and end up against other players doing the same thing. If you incentivise playing nice it encourages players to do so. Instead of incentivising sweaty play so you see killers hard tunneling or facecamping to secure those pips.

@Crowman said:
Survivors can attempt to beat tunneling.
The tunneled survivor can attempt to extend chase to make the tunneling backfire.
Other survivors can attempt body blocks to create distance for the tunneled survivor or even get the killer to change target.
Had this happen with me once. Playing as jeff on rpd against a wraith. I kept first chase going for a very long time, loads of stuns and blinds. He spent the rest of the game hard tunneling me, but just held shift w in chase and took ages to actually land a hit. He lost 4 gens by the time he finally got me on second hook. Then the other 3 survs all banded together to body block in turn when I got unhooked, and i managed a clean getaway. Hid by a gate and they popped 4th gen and we had a 4 man out.
-
Probably being denied lots of hooks by a bully squad. Thankfully it doesn't happen to me now that I can counterplay bully squads easily. But for newer killers a game against a bunch of flashlight sabo players who refuse to let you get a hook after a down is amazingly frustrating. Had a few games of that early on when I was still new to killer and it was highly unpleasant.

Don't agree with your demo picks personally. Demo is pretty good on eyrie, it's hard for survs to hide and gen in the main building is a very risky on for survs if you put a portal on the walkway above. Even before eyrie's nerf demo was solid on that map with it's traversal.
Dead dawg is probably my least favourite demo map, with backwater swamp and garden of joy close behind. Any map where survs can hide easily is rough for demo because if you portal and don't catch someone on a gen you're losing time and pressure.
Likewise coldwind isn't a bad map for demo but I find it plays best on indoor maps like rpd, lery's and midwich. Where ypu can put pirtals out of view of gens to ambush players easier and hiding is much more difficult.
-
Have to admit the recent patches do seem pretty surv sided. And genrush has become more prominent since regression got nerfed into the ground.
And i like the idea of help for hard of hearing killers as well as survs. Personally my hearing is fine and I rely on it very heavily when I play killer, if survs get visual aids killers certainly should too.
-
It's very mmr dependant. Legion punishes low and mid mmr teams with iffy coordination. But at high mmr they do extremely badly because they can only M1 for the down and have next to no anti loop.

This is my thoughts on it as well. For better clarification these survivors I'm speaking of didn't really do any of this in a "toxic" way as they tried for the first bit of the match and just seemed to wanna move on when the game was clearly gonna end in death. While I personally will loop for practice as this point in a game I can also understand just wanting to move on. The real question from me is can you make that a proper offense vs actually throwing from the beginning of the game
I don't think it's really possible. Hook suiciding isn't always that bad so bhvr can't really make it an offense under some circumstances and not others. It'd be too hard to enforce and would require an actual person to watch and make a judgement call on every single instance.
-
Much as I dislike players deliberately getting thrmselves killed early, it'd be impossible to specify what would count as a reportable suicide as opposed to just deliberately dying quickly on hook to let last surv get hatch.
-
Yh I think BNPs need a bit of looking at, there are plenty of gen speed perks and boosts. But doing such a big chunk of a gen in such a short time is kinda insane. I reckon remove the skill checks and have the bnp just instantly add 10%ish progress when it is activated.
-
The last round of nerfs made her more reliant on tunneling to secure a win. I'm really not a fan of nurse, players are either totally useless with her or good enough to be guarenteed to tear a surv team to shreds. There aren't many in betweens. I personally suck with her, perhaps because I'm on xbox. And counterplaying her is quite hit and miss. I won't nope out of game against her, not immediately anyway. But if we're one dead and a couple other hookstates at 4 gens i either throw myself on hook or play for hatch.
-
How long is a piece of string? Everybody is different. Me i rotate in and out, i play dbd overwatch and vermintide roughly equally. For dbd it depends on content releases, special events and whether or not my friends will play, but ibusually at least do my daily rituals and a few tome challenges when I'm in a dbd lull. The singularity defo has me excited.
-
People usually do it just to mock and be toxic. And when I play twins I pretty much always get a free kill out of it, always satisfying.
When I play surv I may stick around to do a quick heal for BP, or to drop my item for killer as a sign of respect. But usually I'm straight out, nobody likes getting killed because of bloodwarden

Shortly after loading into Haddonfield, (one of the many maps that doesn't favour Knight without Call to Arms), I am greeted with the Ada in the middle of the street. She gives up the moment she sees me and doesn't move the whole match. I want to finish the game ASAP so I can verse a team of survivors that actually want to play the game. So I down her and go after the other survivors. The Mikaela gives up as well shortly afterwards. Once everyone is dead I go to the end-game chat to ask why someone would give up at the drop of a hat. This was the brief conversation we had:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D2O2EXYGYKC1/img2-png.png
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D9DT0DDD630K/img3-png.png
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LW51MU9E9VOW/img4-png.png
I want to preface the argument I'm about to make with some very important facts:
- I am fully aware that DbD isn't a balanced game in the slightest.
- I am fully aware that Knight isn't fun to verse for most people.
- I do not think people should be forced to keep playing a game they find unfun.
Now with that being said...
The people who act like this, who give up the moment a game starts because they have to go against something they don't like, are among the most entitled and toxic people in the DbD community.
I'll now explain why using the Ada in my game as an example. As you may have noticed she's a P100 player, like me. So she would have had to put in at least several hundred hours into the game. Likely over one thousand hours in total. With that in mind it's safe to assume that she is aware of elements of the game that aren't very well designed, or just not to her liking. And that by loading up the game, clicking the "Play Survivor" button, and finding a lobby, that there is a chance that she will encounter something that she doesn't like.
I will testify that there are absolutely things that I hate having to deal with as P100 Knight. Well over 50% of the maps in the game just do not favour him. And if you want to win on these maps you have to pick up the slack of the bad map design and play near flawlessly most of the time. It isn't fair, it isn't balanced, but that's just how DbD is.
I know that when I load into a game there's a high chance that I am going to struggle if I want to do well. It's a fact that I accept because I like playing the character so much and I'm willing to put up with stuff like this so I can enjoy being Knight.
But that does not make it ok to ruin the game for 4 other people simply because someone has to deal with something they don't like. In this case, it was a specific killer. I know that some of you who bothered to read this looked at my build and are thinking: "Knock-Out on Knight? Well of course they gave up! No one wants to be slugged."
Except that the Ada gave up the instant she realised that she was against a Knight. I hadn't even gotten a single down and this person single-handedly ruined the game of 4 other people because they thought they were above dealing with something poorly designed in DbD. People like Ada really don't care about how other people play. They have an arbitrary list of things that they personally don't like. And if they encounter any of these things they will not hesitate to throw the game, or give up, or DC, because they cannot fathom dealing with something they don't like.
Let me break this down for you...
- This player likely put in thousands of hours to P100 a character.
- They did this despite knowing how "unfun" the game was for them.
- They knowingly and willing loaded up the game to play a match with 4 other people who all have to deal with the exact same "unfun" things that they do.
- And the moment they encounter something that they don't like, they prioritise themselves over everyone else because they feel they don't have to deal with things like the other people who also play this game.
- And they repeat this over, and over, and over again because they simply don't care about the other players. Even though they are the only reason they are able to find matches in the first place.
I want to make clear that giving up or DC'ing during a game isn't always a bad thing necessarily. If the game is basically over and the killer is just hooking/waiting for everyone to bleed out because of bad hook spawns, then DC'ing just helps end the game faster for everyone. Or if your 3 team mates just ran into the jaws of a camping Leatherface there simply isn't much you can do and giving up prevents the game from stalling and lets you move onto another match as soon as possible.
And I need to state again that I am not making excuses for the terrible design decisions of this game. We all know that DbD is light-years away from perfect. But you're going to make the choice of playing it then you have to accept that, at some point, you are going to deal with things that you don't find fun.
And if you don't want to deal with things that you don't find fun, that's totally fine! Load up a different, better made game like DRG and enjoy yourself there. You aren't being held hostage. You are free to do something that, unlike DbD, you know you will enjoy.
But if you keep loading into games, knowing full well what might await you, and you keep DC'ing or giving up, ruining what little fun was left to be had for everyone else, and then refuse to take accountability for your actions...
Then you are part of the problem. And you need to uninstall this game.
Totally agree op.This is why I think early hook suicides should be reportable. Giving up the second you see a killer makes it kind of pointless playing. Had a player do this against a plague a little while ago. And we still finished gens and got 2 out. When messaged and asked why they left, direct quote here, they said playing against plague made them "want to bomb underprivileged nations" apparently.
It isn't just about the one player, it's about the rest of the team, 99% of the time it ruins the game for them and makes it boring for killer. Plus when we get bot backfilling then hook suicides will be even worse because they can't be backfilled.
-
If you're playing with an unfamiliar killer then it'll take getting used to and losses will happen. Personally i think your mistake is wearing the green hat, bad camouflage 😝 also sidenote love the surv whining about lightborn. See 2 torches on the loadout screen? Lightborn is a no brainer. "No need" for lightborn lol, 2 purples with both bulbs? Very need
