Basically this. She was given absolutely no downsides at all. Increases hatchet wind-up, increased speed while holding a readied up hatchet, AND is now able to hold 7 hatchets?! Plus with her beach ball sized hatchet hit boxes she almost never misses any shot...

This is blatantly incorrect, she does NOT have increased speed when holding a hatchet. It never made it past the PTB, even though it should have.

She is still 77% when holding a hatchet, MEANWHILE. Billy and Cannibal move at 92% when charging. Trickster moves at 96% when holding knives (99% when using two add ons together), Slinger moves at 92% when Add and PP head moves at 110% when using PoTD.

A survivor moves 23% faster when she holds a hatchet, not to mention of all the killers listed besides Trickster (who they made 115% while she is 110%) She is the only one who has to drop chase and find a poorly placed locker to reload. 7 hatchets is beyond reasonable, at a certain point you have to accept some responsibility and learn how to loop her. She is one of the easiest to loop in the game, watch any survivor mains video on countering her, it’s abysmally easy.

Umbra another huge ex-huntress streamer also quit playing her for similar reasons.

She said that nowadays huntress gameplay mostly boils down to pallet showdowns since most new or reworked maps hardly allow for long or even cross map shots. Just having each match be multiple pallet showdons is boring and frustrating for both sides according to her.

From my own experience as a semi-huntress main I can see where she is coming from. Even though I don't really see how these buff help her with these issues since it seems to be more of a map Design problem than a killer problem. The new map Designs feel a lot like aestetics over playability for many killers imo

It all started with Ghostface being added unfortunately. They added a bunch of garbage for his lean stalking ability. That’s also speculated to be why Sverkeran who was one of the greatest of all time at her gave up on her and quit playing the game, that and dedicated servers.

The buffs don’t help her at all with the map issue, that’s what the movement speed when holding hatchets was for. They were trying to make Shiny Pin basekit to help her on awful maps but survivor backlash got that reverted. No watching the kill rates or anything just straight reverted because complaints made by people who didn’t play against her buffed PTB version at all.

People say it wasn’t needed and it’s a map issue but that’s why I say it was needed. They aren’t going to rework all maps. They aren’t going to change the indoor maps that gut her power either. So speeding her up was the simple solution and the most needed part and it didn’t make it past the PTB because people didn’t even want to try and see how it felt to go against. But oh well, what can you do?

  • and when you leave them in the ground because you know they have DS, they complain about slugging.

Honestly this really isn't something you should be worrying about, winning or losing doesn't define the match - not in DbD. The more you win, you will increase your MMR and get tougher and tougher opposition. I think this is why we see a lot from killer players saying they have to camp when their MMR increases, it's because they're out of their play area, and then feel more pressured to camp to get those kills. Rather than letting themselves gain MMR and experience slower.

If the Dev team introduced a Suffering mechanic that incentivizes individual hook states and punishes players who only get 4 hooks but 4 kills from camping, then killers wouldn’t feel so pressured to camp to get kills. I understand wanting to reward kills as well as it would be strange to reward a killer for not killing but being able to individually hook everyone and kill them all would be a huge feat.

It would be the healthiest route for the game in all honesty and still lore accurate because I’m sure the Entity would rather maximize suffering than a survivor just being camped out.

At the end of the day everyone wants to win, and for killers right now that’s a 3k-4k. If you change the win conditions I think it would change the view killers have on the game. I win 90% of my games and very, very rarely ever feel pressured to camp but that’s because I feel confident in the end game but my most fun games were when I 12 hooked everyone which I can’t do all the time. I often ignore one survivor and hook the other 3 until one is dead and this is what a lot of pros do.

I went through a list of maps and when accounting for massive locker deadzones, indoor maps, and maps with massive amounts of rocks / trees / los blockers its like 1:1 bad maps to good maps

She def needed the buffs to account for all that jank

Also scott iirc mostly stopped playing huntress less because of the amount of stuff on all the maps and more because he played it for 4 years straight

To be generous I count 30 out of 53 maps being garbage for her between indoor maps and clutter. I would argue more like 37 to be accurate but those maps are kinda iffy.

And Scott also exactly explained why he switched to maining Wraith and it’s because “The Devs are obsessed with adding random garbage to every map that makes playing her exhausting”

Which after they added the variations to Ormond, Yamaoka and cold wind. AND the rework for Midwhich that ruined the one indoor map she was alright on. I definitely understand why he gave up on her.

Why did they even give her a buff anyways? Nobody asked for it...

I wish people would stop saying that. People who don’t play her weren’t asking for it. People who do play her have been asking for changes for ages.

She is the least mobile killer in the game with 8 indoor maps, bad locker spawns and 60% of the remaining maps are unbearably cluttered.

She’s still in the bottom 10 when it comes to kill rates. Even lower when it comes to top MMR and EVEN LOWER when it comes to comp. Ask any ex Huntress main why they gave up on her, Scott Jund talked about it in a video before.

No killer in “A Tier” needs any nerfs. Especially not Huntress, one of the easiest killers to loop in the game and is only very punishing against survivors caught in a dead zone.

  • Trapper is a great enough totem defender. You could honestly use Devour, ToTH, LB and Brutal. For add ons you could use trapper sack and iri whetstone so that way the trap you put on the totem will be the only one resetting every 30 seconds. Or you could use bloody coil to injure survivors disarming your trap to make them hesitate on disarming it, knowing that they'll be injured and you'll know they are going for it. Certain maps have very nasty totem spawns too and only offer one way to the totem.

Hag could be another idea but her traps can be wiped away so I would maybe use undying too if you go with her.

Theres no windup time to his ability, its just unreactable and instant, he can keep spamming his sight so he can zone u for free, he is not fun to play against at all, the best you can do is spread out and push gens

That’s not even remotely true. His ADS used to be instant and they nerfed it to be much slower. Not to mention he slows down to 92% when ADS. Not to mention even slower when reloading a single shot weapon.

It’s relatively easy to dodge his spear honestly. Unless the playing them is cracked. But that’s the case for almost every killer.

  • People don’t want to have to think that much when it comes down to it. (Hence why Windows Of Op has a 35% pick rate)

No killer in this game is overpowered except for Nurse. And even then if you play super smart and hide or just hold W she can have a hard time too.

  • You can not include Deathslinger with nurse lmao. In no way does he remove skill expression, in fact he offers more to the survivor by dodging his spear.

  • Make sure you are playing in full screen and not windowed full screen. My PC would make heavy use of the CPU if I had it in windowed mode. And would use the graphics card more for full screen mode. Should be in your graphics settings in game.

  • I’m assuming you’re referring to Deer Stalker which is definitely a slugging perk. I don’t think a single killer main would be mad if it got reworked. Well besides all 3 twins mains.

I mean Singularity has to jump through a bunch of hoops to get that, and it's his power.

Wraith has to dedicate two addon slots for that effect.

Giving that effect in a perk slot could end up being a bit much.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3782834#Comment_3782834

I think you underestimate just how good Brutal Strength really is. It's actually a really good perk.

I’m definitely underestimating that perk. There are way too many better options I think and I think enduring is a way better choice.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3782810#Comment_3782810

I mean Wraith only has that fast of a break because he literally can't attack while cloaked. They'd be silly to give that kind of pallet break speed in a regular scenario.

I just don’t see why you would ever use the perk when you could use pain Rez, Pop, noed, grim, or any other countless better perks. Maybe 50% would be too much but 40% at least to ever get me to consider using it. 20% makes it go from 2.34 to 2.02 seconds.

And yes wraith can’t attack while cloaked it’s still an insanely good add on that allows him to catch up quicker than he already can. I think this perk is top 10 because it’s free and decent compared to the other garbage starting perks.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I think a better idea would be to just remove the hook requirement. 50% break speed is kinda nutty but would be funny to see.

50% isn’t all that crazy. Wraith has 60% as a purple add on. And 40% as a green. Which he can combine with fire up and BS for a total of 140% which is nutty lol.

Brutal strength should be 50% considering it’s taking an entire perk slot. 20% is garbage.

As I already said, her kit is perfectly fine. What do you expect with 16 seconds repel, if she is far away? 2nd attempt to snipe, if first wasn't successful? It's completely unnecessary.
Health state without Swarms for distance snipe? So just stand on one side of the map and injure survivor on gens for free? Nah, lol, it's too cheap.
Locker interaction also fine, survivors give me locker grab pretty often even without this.
Even if I wanted to buff something about her, it would be summoning crow time decrease on 10-15%. It would make her more pleasant to play on some maps with wild rng. And even without it she is fine as she is.

Survivors would respect your map presence more if it took longer to repel crows I feel like. Right now I just sit on a Gen when I’m swarmed and don’t bother repelling because her follow up crows are so easy to dodge unless she sets them close. That’s the same idea with making it injure only healthy survivors past a certain range so they can’t just disrespect the power.

She has no verticality to her power which I don’t like. And most people just drop birds at loops so I feel like more incentives could be given for long range shots.

  • @fussy said:

People really do not understand how to play her, I saw a lot of streamers with 5-10k hours, who played her absolutely wrong. You can see in every Artist topic like almost everyone thinks that place bird in a pallet and force shift+w is the only way to play her, and that's what i'm talking about.
She is definately not beginner friendly and it's okay, probably this is the main reason why she is not so popular. And why 7 out of 10 Artist I went against were mostly m1.
Balance wise she is in perfect spot, the only thing I would like to change is her addons, half of them are useless and awful.

Agreed, her add ons are horrendous. I think they should make the base time to repel crows longer the further away she is. So if you land a 30 meter plus crow it could take 16 seconds. So that way it incentivizes long range shots instead of just drop bird at loop gameplay. Or maybe make it take a health state instantly past a certain range but only on healthy survivors? Crows trapping survivors in lockers for 5 seconds after jumping into them could be dope also.

So you're going by percentile? Why? You also rounded down the kill rates. She's at 56%, not 55% (and actually went up to 57% in the time since my last post).

It seems like you're really stretching as hard as you can to call her a bad killer. The statistics you've cited in this thread are either outdated or presented in a way that has a very clear bias. Being deliberately misleading isn't helping your case.

For the record, I don't think she needs any nerfs. I don't think she needs any buffs either, though.

Latency allowing for hits that shouldn't connect is a different discussion that falls outside of balance and is an issue that isn't exclusive to Huntress herself, but she is a pretty major case of this.

I’m not rounding down lol I said 55%-56% but I just now seen the 57% one. But you are supposed to round down if it’s below the halfway point. So 57.21 = 57 and 57.75 = 58 for simplicity sake.

Also the stats change literally every hour so some of that numbers I posted aren’t accurate already. I just used the oldest ones I could find when comparing to the others.

No number stretching here, just a attempt at a factual reporting of the numbers that you yourself can see, I missed that one though so that’s my fault.

I never once said she is a bad killer. People always try to say I’m saying this which is insane. A killer doesn’t have to be bad to be considered for a buff. The simple fact is she is A tier against bad - average survivors and she is B to C Tier against great teams.

55, 56, 57, or 58; neither of these are at 60% Meanwhile we have 10 killers within 1% of the goal. If they make her 115% and 85% when holding a hatchet I’m betting she would be sitting right at 60%

After countless hours on her and at this point probably being one of the best at her. I say she needs to move faster and faster while holding hatchets to be viable at a high level. And people who have 10,000 plus hours agree.

    That’s all I’m saying

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3782651#Comment_3782651

Are we looking at the same Nightlight? She's listed pretty much smack bang in the middle. Just above the average.

The official stats are not really all that relevant either, at least until we get some new ones, since she got some pretty significant buffs.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/93N7DM5FJ9F9/image.png

I don't think anyone in this thread actually called her overpowered either, just that her latency issues are frustrating.

Yep it’s the same one. Look at her percentages and compare them to every other killers, that’s what I did to get those numbers.

And no, nobody here called her overpowered in this thread but it can’t be denied that’s the majority opinion on her. Several posts in the past week saying to remove her from 2v8, or significantly nerf her. Along with a bunch of posts before and during her latest PTB suggesting nerfs before it and sheer outrage after she got some small qol buffs.

Her “significant” buffs weren’t enough to change her Nightlight stats in any meaningful way. I’m assuming the official stats will reflect that as well.

My main point is if she gets any changes in the future they should be buffs. She is in no way deserving of nerfs at all by any means. Nothing about her warrants it.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3782642#Comment_3782642

We don't actually have any up to date stats on Huntress. The last kill rates that were released were before her buffs. Unofficial stats place her nowhere near the bottom of the roster.

According to Nightlightggs (not official I know) she is at 55-56% the 5th lowest of all killers. The data is taken by a program linked to your account. She also has the the 7th most 0 kill games, 5th most 3 man outs, 5th most 2 man outs, and 3rd lowest 4ks.

According to the last official stats released by DBD She was the 7th lowest in all MMRs and 4th lowest in Top 5% MMR for kill rates. For supposedly being an overpowered killer, she has never been close to the top when it comes to winning, and is not at the 60% target Devs want for killers.

So yes the official stats that are on this website right now do place her near the bottom.

The issue is that once you start getting even a remotely shoddy connection, Huntress starts hitting people around walls. She is by far the worst in terms of egregious hits compared to the other ranged killers.

The lack of proper validation is kind of wild.

And at the same time ive had countless hatchets hit survivors making the sound effect and not counting. Or just completely going through the model and not counting. It goes both ways. And honestly she still has one of the lowest kill rates in the game to this day so it clearly isn't as big of an issue as everyone makes it out to be.

  • They don’t slouch as much but it’s still bad enough to be the main issue for the hits looking so crazy besides internet and ping. Her hitboxes are not crazy at all, they follow the EXACT same logic as every single projectile in DBD. A perfect circle from base to tip, with the object collision box being slightly smaller.

If they ever make her hitboxes smaller they are going to have to do some extreme buffing of other areas. Probably 115%, 90% when holding and insta downing base kit past 32 meters. Since her kill rates absolutely plummeted last time.

Seems like another Blight scenario where if the player is above average it's fine but the exceptional players are just a slog to engage with.

I played against UncleStanBana and let me tell you what, he was so good that it was legitimately the most unfun match I have ever played in DBD. Constantly bouncing back and forth between unhooks before we could do anything. He said himself he would hate to go against his Billy because how oppressive he can be.

But what can you do? You just have to deal with it because that’s like 1% of players

  • @WolfyWood said:

Probably would help if they didn't word the OP like Blight is weak(???) then switch to 'I'm new asking for advice!'

Even if they thought Blight was weak it’s still not a reason to attack someone. Have you ever heard of new people existing? A lot of new players think Nurse is garbage.

  • It’s so cringe how 90% of everyone here just takes shots at the poster and say it’s a skill issue instead of actually offering advice or constructive criticism.

My advice is to not use his power at small loops at all and don’t use it on loops that have not too much surrounding it unless you can hit it quick and spin back before they move.

Blight can be insane if you land a Basic M1 first and then instantly rush to catch up to them and down them before they can make it to another loop.

Going through doors is impossible now with the new bump logic so I never try and rush through doorways. You’ll just spend 2 tokens trying to get through it unless you are lined up perfectly.

  • @Ayodam said:

    Is this like Blood Warden?

Nah. BW blocks the gates after a hook. This completely shuts open gates causing survivors to have to open them again after completing the new generator that spawned.

  • @ChaosWam said:

I've thought about it, but the effect would need to be worth going to the basement to activate.

Maybe even be able to channel it, and apply it as many times as they'd like for survivors to deactivate? I guess it depends. I also don't know what would be a fair tradeoff.

That's what I like about the perk I created. If you see the killer start dragging a survivor towards basement you can either stay to try and save them and maybe buy time for your mates to get out or just hurry up and try to get out before the killer gets them to basement.

How can you say that kill rates are inflated for killers, based on survivors throwing the match, but not take into account for killers throwing matches? Giving hatch, farming, going AFK, bots ect.

I don't think i've ever seen a killer throw a match once in over 8 years of this game, a few times they went AFK went the gates got opened after being bullied for 10 minutes straight but they were gonna lose anyways. Farming is something that almost never happens as well I imagine because ive had a grand total of 3, yes three farming matches in the last 2 years. Bots are also free kills that inflate the kill rates as well so that only further proves the point.

Giving hatch is something I haven't thought about but then again is extremely rare from my perspective. Being given hatch once in every couple hundred games on average. And that's only because my username and collecting items for Huntress's and them giving me hatch that way.

The point is its not an exaggeration or hyperbole when Killers go on 1000 game win streaks. Like this literally happens all the time. No Survivor perks should be nerfed until the balance of the game is better and its not possible for killers to do this anymore. Its amazing that Killer mains here will say that Woo needs a nerf but Weave doesn't.

Those win streaks happen on S-A tier killers and the people playing them have thousands of hours on those killer specifically. Many people say Huntress is S Tier and Godlike OP but her highest streak after 8 years is 101 and its not even official if they got that high.

Survivors have gotten a 383 escape streak. So should Huntress be buffed?

Streaks depend on the skill of the player. No random person is going on a 1,000 win streak as Blight OR Nurse unless they have a significant amount of hours in those killers. You cant just pick up a killer randomly and do that, it doesn't happen.

  • Had the same thing happen on Toba several times. I just DC'd after not finding anybody for 2 entire map rotations. Just gens being worked on. That was before I used full aura builds. Now I use Nowhere To Hide as it punishes cowardly survivors heavily by catching them out unaware and usually in a dead zone.

Another map with way to much clutter and way to much going on in it.

  • I would say its fair since we killers have had countless perks nerfed for the sole reason that they are insanely strong on Nurse and Blight.

But at the same time me and my SWF are garbage 99% of the time, unless we bring gen rush builds. So penalizing us would be even worse.

  • With how many survivors give up in my matches I would wager that the kill rates are legitimately probably 5-10% higher on the stat sheet than what they really are because throwing on hook. At least for certain killers.

  • @Pulsar said:

Fix the maps, tell Solo Q what pallets have been thrown and helps bad players be a little better.

If you want to stomp Solo Q more, go ahead and nerf it.

Killers are often told to stop relying on aura reads and develop "game sense"

I would say the exact same thing for Windows of Op. You don't have to use your brain at all and remember where chases have happened and potentially what pallets have been used. Its literally survivor game sense made manifest as a perk.

I don't think it should be nerfed really, but it can't be denied it is literally insane value and an auto pilot perk that makes all your chase decisions next to perfect. You will NEVER run to a loop thinking there is a pallet there when there's not ever.

Well I would ask you to link to the video but it doesn't matter anyway because one video escaping against baby killers means nothing. Now if you can stream 8 hours a day for a week maybe and escape every single time the same way killers go on 1000 game win streaks then maybe you would have a point.

Do you know the definition of the word exaggeration? Or Hyperbole? Obviously I still lose but I do significantly better anytime I use it.

This is actually not true all considering I regularly see streamers with like 8000 hours using it. Like to see your gameplay where you're "uncatchable" just from using Windows. It should be basekit considering the insane amount of maps now.

Coincidentally I have a YouTube channel with a video where I called it overpowered and let me tell you what I was in fact uncatchable. Well right into the end lol. Go watch it and there is your proof.

And yes I said vets use it too lol. Its just really good for new people too so it probably shouldn't be nerfed.

  • After 500 hours of gameplay the perk is deleted from your account.

The problem is it’s great for new people to teach them the game. And for veterans to not get caught at a loop without a pallet. It’s definitely an autopilot perk that has consistent and insane value. I’m not great at looping but when I use Windows I become borderline uncatchable.

A 10 second cooldown wouldn’t do anything anyways as you could remember 2-3 pallets at a time.

Edit: I better specify the first sentence is a joke before people start going crazy

Nice try but Huntress is literally the Feng of the killer roster and consistently receives more skins than most other killers and was not only featured in one of DBD's only spinoff games but had a skin brought over from said spinoff.

Welp that's a bold faced lie. LEGION HAS 32 OUTFITS. Huntress has 21. Spirit has 24. Wraith has 22. Trapper has 21. Oni has 22. Trickster has 22. Doctor has 25. Nurse has 24.

Such a weird thing to lie about. Anyways of course I proved you're dead wrong just by looking at the store LMAO! And this had nothing to do with killer vs killer cosmetics so stop with the straw man please. This was specifically killer vs survivor cosmetics and of course I am right about that as well because Elodie and Felix have more despite being 3 years newer.
