You should post the logs of those tests so they have easier time to find the issue as there still is zero logs in this thread for it.
How do you retrieve logs?

Uh no, killers see survivor items for a reason in the lobby. If they want to slap on four slowdown perks that's their choice and if they choose not to bring any of the several perks that ######### up pallet or flashlight saves that's on them. Killers have the ability to pick things that directly counter survivors and if they don't that's on them.
we’re just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. It’s not going to kill the perk if they bump it up a little bit to account for a killer vaulting a window for the pick up, or even some seconds to chase away someone lingering for a a save of some kind. There should be room for counterplay imo.

So, there's one major thing. If the killer pays attention at all they can just counter it by picking you up. There should be risks to slugging not less. If they want free pressure there should be a potential for it backfiring horribly on them.
okay I agree, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s punishing people not trying to do that because how low the timer is. It’s so low I can see it being used for just straight up griefing into heavily advantageous. Killers shouldn’t have to run lightborn bc swf is going to go nuts with this; they always do.

Probably not, he's a known incredibly biased content creator and conviction is not that good. It only shines really at endgame and even then it's beaten by just picking a survivor up.
i don’t think so, I ran it when I was adepting michone. It’s good for more than endgame but to be fair I have often faced killers trying to mass slug with several gens remaining or trying to hold three gens or trying to hold a hook via proxy, and it’s good for more than endgame. It’s a bit over tuned. Like I said I would just bump up the number value a little bit to pick yourself up, because it also works against people trying to spread pressure and going for a pick up not trying to leave people down. I’m all for viable counterplay, but that’s just wrong. Killers got a friend in me on this one.

Let's not pretend that Otz doesn't frequently spout questionable takes.
Let’s hear them. I’m curious to know what you think out of pocket takes are. I barely watch the guy so he’s most likely said something I’ve missed, but when he brings up a topic im interested in I listen, and they usually aren’t out of the realm of reasonable.
-
As of otz he’s probably one of the more level headed content creators. I watched a guy who was spouting absolute nonsense about how he’s 90% plus kill rate on Vecna and then said nerf botany knowledge 💀
-
honestly the time on it just needs to be bumped up a little so that you literally can’t pick yourself up while vaulting a window without bringing additional perks. I would start there. The amount it takes to fill is generous. Just increase how much the bar has to fill a little.

Unfortunately it was just horrible luck (likely the result of backfilling).
It's easier to see it when watching other experienced people do "Hardcore Survivor/Killer challenges" but as a rule of thumb, the first few matches will be very easy then after a few escapes/4ks the game will quickly adjust.
“Hardcore challenge” I’m blowing absolutely raspberries you see some the most absolute smurfiest smurfing in all of smurfdom going on when I watch some of these from some -not all- content creators. I’m not saying I’m better at the game, I’m just saying I know smurfing when I see it.

I'm not sure its really something that can feasibly happen, but let's jump into it as a hypothetical:
So there are new killers and survivor perks that are stronger than old ones, but we get new and fresh mechanics.
Cons
Feels pay to win
The level of old perks / killers that would just be 'junk' would feel extremely silly
The transition period could be messy
Inevitably there will be some people who don't like the new mechanics
Asyms have horrible histories of success and this feels like a serious risk of upsetting a delicate balance
Lots of players have not yet grown bored with the mechanics so a change might be off putting.
Pros
More fun is more fun
-
As a player, I'd take the risk, I can always play something else. Not sure why BHVR would take such a chance at this point though.
Thank you. This is what I was looking to go back and forth with. I totally agree. I too would take that risk.
I think a good way to circumvent the disparity between old and new mechanics would be if you’re using new mechanics you don’t get matched with people using old mechanics on both sides. if they build a system that allows growth and separates the power differentials into essentially separate queuing lobbies. Not only would this be a way for newer players to get the hang of basic mechanics while not being bombarded with a million things at once, but it also allows existing players looking for a more classic loops that option.
I know I bring up nioh a lot, but I think even as a baseline single player game a thing it does flawlessly is drop you off on the base level to understand fundamental game mechanics. You’re not over powered and neither are your enemies. As you progress through the game and get more mechanical abilities and resources to manage your enemies do too. While this is a single player game, I think theoretically it could work for a PvP game through lobby isolation and mechanical set ups ie no mix and match.
Killers can get insane power mashups and abilities, and survivors can get counter mechanics. Obviously gens under power creep should be monitored to create a fair environment.Idk I’m just thinking out loud. I saw someone post they wanted a pole vaulting distance closing and range killer, and it sounds cool but idk how that would work without giving survivors a dodge roll ability or something, and obviously that would break the game against other killers. Unless it’s something that just comes baked into their kit that survivors get when versing a killer like that. Maybe that’s the give and take that needs to be put into the game concerning power creep? Do I sound absolutely mad?

- It's impossible to introduce a "strong and useful" mechanic for survivors. I mean, we saw what happened with fog vials, even though they were just fun and not as strong as medkits and toolboxes. For the killer side, anything is possible; Devs always come up with interesting ideas.
I heavily disagree killers need to be capped to a certain power threshold if survivors can not also evolve.

it’s not that he doesn’t agree with the grace period. It’s that he only agrees for a grace period for killer powers. If it’s anything that remotely helps survivor he’s going to be against it and he contradicted himself about 600 times already on this forum. You are a really good dude and I just highly suggest that you stop communicating with him whatsoever because it’s never going to go anywhere. Killers I want but think will never happen
Spider-jorogumo specifically- trap
Bee(pls De’vorah from mortal kombat, I might crash out if I see scorpion or sub zero, I’m so tired of them in MK and other games I play always being the ones selected for out of universe, I want that bee lady she’s dope)- range
Plant- we honestly don’t have a singular killer with any plant type abilities. Plant killer when? Come on ensnaring or petrification.
Deep see monstrosity- comes with a new drenched affect that debuffs survivors the more saturated they are - teleport from puddles, throws a trident
Our own original alien type killer

tbh if the noise was just left normal I'd probably be okay with higher opacity even.
Boost the normal noise after removing the suppression even if it means higher opacity.

let’s see what would I do if I only see one aura with bbq after hooking someone:
First I would ask myself is this a gen I care gets done on the one aura? If yes then go to the aura. If no then I would go check somewhere else especially if it’s not a gen I care about or could find advantageous to losing I guess.
If I find someone else while looking at other gens great. If not then I guess I’ll go snoop around the area where the person was hooked, or then make my way to the gen with the aura. It really depends.
That would probably be my general flow thought state though if I were using bbq.

Fog Vials I can't comment on, I've not played a game with nerfed Fog Vials in yet.
They are, uh… kinda useless.
While I do think infinite uses was too much, I think that adjustment was the only thing they needed.
I think for me, they could have just capped the uses and maybe done away with the noise suppression and allowed noise.
My main point and I’m going to stand on business for this is if you release or make things more advantageous for the opposite side than the side using it, why would you pick it for your side? There needs to be a reason for it to be picked on the side using it. That’s just the natural path of logic in PvP for a very vast majority of people.

Someone popped this one off randomly, probably to hide auras while healing, but inadvertently broadcasted thier location in the process.
I don't think killer mains spent enough time considering how the vials, used badly (or used instead of other items) could benefit them too.
Wild isn’t it?
-
I don’t use maps and keys I’m unsure about smoke bombs I don’t really see the point in a portable distortion that’s only effective on indoor maps if you can see right through it anyways, and need visceral to get any kind of real cover otherwise. Basekit is very weak against good killers .So I’ll probably just stick to medkits and toolboxes. ill use fog vials only if I have iri and vigos. Every single other addon and rarity feels very underwhelming. Probably start picking up flashlights with how bloated killer kits are getting and maps the size of postage stamps with diminishing resources. I feel absolutely at a massive disadvantage without a toolbox or medkit(a part of me wishes they were baskekit to survivor so hearing there’s a pending rework coming makes me shake in my boots because there’s hit and run playstyles where you just lose if you don’t have quick plentiful heals) due to how fast paced the games are and how small a very good percentage of the maps are and very really knowing who you will be up against until you load in. That’s just off the dome without getting too deep.
In short im not running a medkit to deal with myers, im running a medkit because idk if im going to get hit and run wraith or singu.

I think @HeroLives is referencing to the fact that maps has been smaller, which is also limiting survivors in many ways.
But to the topic on hand. From my perspective, I was clearly able to see through the smoke in certain scenarios. Only way that the smoke did obscure anything was when you were (as a killer) standing outside of the smoke radius. As soon as you enter the threshold of the smoke, you are able to see through it now.No, but you’re not wrong. They’re standing dead center in the middle of that side of the map and I can see the other side to the wall.

I don't get what you mean. Are you asking what benefit the vial is supposed to be providing? I was just giving insight for how it obstructed the view, since I couldn't see the shack you mentioned to identify it. You seemed to be able to see forever so I figured the perspective might be helpful.
That’s not what I’m getting at. I guess what I’m trying to do is trigger constructive thinking in you to test your knowledge base outside of what you can visibly see.
For instance without being able to make out a single pallet in any of these photos I can tell you there’s not one in the double tubes so they could only hide there. There’s possibly pallets behind them in another jungle gym if they didn’t use the given the direction they are facing . There’s the pallet in shack in the back right corner past the tubes. If you go left it leads to main and there’s pallets on the bottom floor, top floor, and on the balcony by the ramp. They would probably path to shack or to main depending on where resources have been exhausted or where they think people are doing gens. Most likely go left because it’s closer.

FWIW I can't see a building past the fog in any of the three, though the bottom one I can make out a box and what looks like a black pole in the middle (im guessing the corner of the building?) I can see the box and the line a bit in the other two, but I feel like thats mostly filling in the gaps knowing they're supposed to be there. Same with what looks like a gate/fence behind the locker, can see it a bit in the bottom image but can tell its supposed to be there in the other two when looking back. Feel like im trying to watch the hot air balloon above the road.
So again, changes that don't really address the issue for affected people, but make it weaker for everyone else.
Understandable.
Where’s the pallets? Survivors love pallets. They will probably be trying to get to one.
If it’s a dead zone where are the LOS blockers they would use to try and pull one over if they wanted to be stealthy? -

It's what the fog is supposed to do at its current opacity. Multiple people were claiming the fog vials are affected by gamma settings, and was even claiming that if someone said the fog-vial fog is too thick, it's because they're boosting the game brightness.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3979699#Comment_3979699
No. BHVR said multiple times they can't get all the PTB changes ready for launch day, and they need additional time to get the rest of the changes done. It takes time to code all those nerfs.
Wait…. You don't think code changes are instant, do you? Like, do you think BHVR waited 2 weeks after launch, decided Ghoul needed 12 more nerfs, and then instantly coded the nerfs so they could be released the next day?
I mean objectively they are with certain softwares. That’s not me also saying they’re not inconsistent as well under normal circumstances. That still doesn’t answer my question directly though, which is:
Where is the line for you?

The gamma settings don't really make a difference.
When you see a super bright fog picture, it's probably because of a lighting effect in the map itself, and not the player's gamma settings.
just a question out of curiosity. Is this an example of acceptable or unable acceptable fog?
I can’t see through your eyes, but I can see through mine and I can make out shack. The object on the far top left that leads to the jungle gym. The pit in middle left. The double tubes on the right. The debris that are chilling in the middle by the tube on the right. I can see straight through this to the other side. I can literally see the other side of the map from where you’re standing. -

yeah the only uses I see for it at this point after testing with another person switching out between killer and survivor is using it as a brief diversion at like the start of the match or for like bbq when you know they’re b-lining it to you anyways. You can see right through it in a lot of places even outside of it with the highest potency. Basekit is laughable. I’m convinced these people where everything is super bright have their brightness pushing up there. Accessibility issues aside. If you make it any weaker people not pushing for an advantage with shaders or with normal eyesight will not use this.
just in case anyone was wondering what the “killer sees on console and pc” and this is without chase even initiated and no shaders on either platform.

I've been noticing something interesting in my games lately. I've been playing for about four years now, and I've noticed a shift. It used to be that one or two survivors would bring an item, but since the anniversary, everyone seems to be bringing something—whether I'm playing survivor or killer.
Initially, I thought it might have been because I was playing in a different region during the anniversary, or that people wanted to bring items during the anniversary (thought I don't remember this during past events). Now that the anniversary is over and I'm back in my home region, it's still happening. Every match, without fail, every survivor brings an item.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just happening in my games?
I’ve got like 60+ medkits , toolboxes, and flashlights on a singular survivor. Those last a while, and aren’t even counting my normal items I have. I’ve got enough stuff across all killers to keep me busy with trying things for at least a year.

Look at the stats im sure they are well above what they should be
If the stats are higher than they should be, that had nothing to do with DC's.
BHVR already ignores any game where a disconnect occurs and doesn't include it in stats. So what you see with "official kill rates" is after they've already tossed out the results from games with any disconnect at all, even if it's just one player.
The "player experience" kill rate is likely a bit higher than the official kill rate, since an early "give up" or "go next" survivor disconnect basically means the other 3 are stuck in a losing game, and none of those kills are counted in official stats.
that’s exactly what that means

The fog effects aren’t consistent. They are much more difficult to see through on maps that have a basekit fog effect.
There is also something happening, that makes the fog effect way brighter sometimes. As in, I could see a fog vial being used 5 times on the same map, and for whatever reason, the 5th time is way brighter than the others. I want to test if it involves environmental lighting (i.e. fire barrels), but there’s definitely something weird happening.
I can test it later with you if you want. I’m on ps5 but I have discord so you can just tell me what you want me to run, where to stand ect and we can go to all maps

When killers have addons that overperform, BHVR's strategy is to nerf the overperforming addons.
So if survivors have items that overperform…. the solution should involve nerfing the overperforming items.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3978094#Comment_3978094
The limited charges might be barely noticeable, if survivors can circumvent the charges with a "pharmacy for fog perk" (since that allows 2 fog vials per game). Or if survivors can circumvent the charges with Built To Last. Or if survivors can use Streetwise and find a +80% number of charges fog vial.
There are so many things that can go wrong, with a charge-based item, since the game doesn't really have any yet.
it’s okay. I’ll gladly let the devs toy with the numbers if it means that’s it’s engaging for both sides and fun. I understand not everyone that plays either side is a god and has trouble with some things. I always think there’s middle ground. I’ll wait to hold judgement for when the tweaks hit live, if it’s too much it can always be toyed around with. Most people are using them wrong, but I absolutely understand when people use them right how that can be a problem. Saw a comment where you said like 4/5 charges. I think that’s a good starting point to be worked from and go from there. I get it, I know there’s a sea of skill level difference on both sides. I also think any reasonable person that’s played the game for long enough would agree that unlimited charges is insane if for anything other than just pure annoyance factoring into that especially if you multiply it by four. Things should be fun and things should be useful, and I agree there’s lines.

😂🤣 that’s what you get for running around and two timing with her arch nemesis 💅 I would of left you for my religion too. Accidental….accidentally on purpose. Y’all can’t give shadowheart the run around girl has standards. Gotta commit to the “ slow burn” with her.
nah but she’s a monogamist and apparently the only thruple type thing she’s cool with is Halsin(I didn’t test this, it’s just what the internet says).
