I wonder how many people curse me out while I'm on Xbox to be honest I just want to say gg regardless

    Same, on PS5

    I rather like: -

    • Bloody Coil
    • Trapper's Bag
    • Hysteria
    • Deathbound
    • Corrupt Intervention
    • Free Choice (Nowhere to Hide or Barbeque and Chilli maybe?)

Deathbound and Hysteria sound fun to use together. Especially since Trapper can damage Survivors from across the map. Thank you for chiming in and sharing the build 😊

Devour hope, Trail of tourment, Dragons grip and monitor & abuse or undying with both iris. Additionally I would use a Lerry’s offering, because there the totem spawns are better.

All you have to do is protecting the side your totem is on (especially the totem) while trying to reach the 5 stacks. This build is fun with devour.

Fun! I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the build 😊

the one time I was jumpscared was when I was turning a corner chatting with my friend walking to the next generator then I see a 6 foot tall man holding a harpoon gun aiming right at me but not too much stealth killers

    LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣

  • @CountOfTheFog said:

I'm still afraid of stealth Killers when I'm a Survivor, especially playing past midnight.

I tend to get at least one Pig and one Ghostface if I play SoloQ between midnight and around 5AM.

I have never built a tolerance to them.

Are you ever jumpscared by certain Killers or perks such as Trial of Torment?

Yes. An Onryo pulled me off a gen yesterday. I can’t help but scream and implode into a laugh attack every time that happens to me. 🤣🤣🤣

But I find reading books helps keep my mind primed for spooky/magical experiences.

I love how you’re still scared of pig. I remember you mentioning that like maybe over a year ago, and I thought it would be funny to show you a giant Pig picture from Saw. Suffice it to say I don’t think you appreciated it the way I thought you would, sorry Count 😅😂💐

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/439958/requesting-fun-trapper-builds

    My Trapper Build is

    • Lightborn
    • Brutal Strength
    • Corrupt Intervention
    • Monitor and Abuse

I like to place random traps in the grass or in hallways. Not at pallets, because people expect them there.

Monitor and Abuse is such a slept on perk. It's shocking to me how much closer I can approach Survivors working on generators. I actually use Monitor and Abuse on just about everyone except Wraith and Onyro.

I even get a lot of value with it on Huntress despite her Lullaby.

For add-ons I go with the setting a trap is silent brown and the green one that makes the traps harder to see. I love playing Trapper.

I like to place random traps in the grass or in hallways. Not at pallets, because people expect them there.

I have this mentality that traps shut pallet loops down but you’re right, it’s way too predictable. Okay so patches of grass really do work I see.

I also see that you’re recommending me a stealth based Trapper. How fun! Thanks for the build 😊

Zoomies is always fun! and it doesnt have to be an entire build centered around it either. Batteries Included and Noed, and then Coffee Grounds (Applies an addtional 5% haste when setting a trap) and I usually like to pair that with Fastening Tools so I dont lose too much distance. So 115% (Base Movement) + 5% (Batteries Included) + 4% (Hex: No One Escapes Death) + 12.5% (Setting Trap w/Coffee Grounds) = 136.5% movement speed! (For 5 seconds anyway... but still fast!)

Another build is taking a page right out of Otzdarvas shenanigans... and thats the Goalie Trapper. Remember Me, No Way Out, NOED, and a perk of your choice. Add ons are Iridescent Stone and Secondary Coil, (Tension Spring could theoretically work as well, havent tried it yet though) The plan is to open an exit gate the moment the last gen pops, and make it so the other gate is basically impossible to open before the timer runs out. So theyre other option is going through you which is a bit difficult since you have NOED.. and you can set up some traps near the gate (some indoor maps are particularly nasty) to some times block off entrances. I havent played this build in a very long time because Ive been putting a lot of time into Trickster lately, but Ive always had fun running it :)

Oh my gosh woooow. Shroompy of course you deliver. Thank you I will definitely be using these builds. The fast Trapper sounds exciting haha 😊

    Hey all,

I wondered if anyone knows what kind of rotation they have set for the Ormond Mine map. I ask because I have only gone to the map twice in the last three to four weeks of playing DBD, while all the other maps seem to be in regular rotation.

Is anyone else experiencing never going there?

I was just thinking this last night when I was playing. I know Ormond Lake Mine’s spawn logic was adjusted when it first came out because players didn’t like the boosted map frequencies of the new maps. But it is a map I would love to play on more often. I used three ormond offerings last night and of the two that went through both maps spawned lodge.

Chucky got a decent build (two slowdowns, some tracking perk, and a hex) and was doing pretty well for himself despite the fact there were 2 survivors who kept trying to harass him. Game goes by, people getting hooked, gens getting done so on. Cut to the point where there's 2 gens, the two tweedles are dead, and both me and the last random are death hook. Lucky for everyone I had the perk to save us. Bardic Inspiration. Turns out Chucky is a fan of James' amazing lute skills and decided to let me and the random live after a couple of performances~]

(I had a match as a demo dog in suffocation pit that was similar. There was 2 survivors in particular who caught my attention, a feng who out played me twice and a yui who must have had a blind challenge cause she kept trying to blind me at every moment. Even as the game went on and was mauling them she wouldn't learn to not try and poke the dog. Feng meanwhile Feng bought herself breathing room after she was practically farmed by playing a song (that alone was kinda shocking) and made herself scarce afterwards. Eventually it's her and feng on deaths door and as I down yui I see feng. What does she do? She tries to beg for yui's life and tried to serenade the doggo. I promptly ate the yui after the show, but the thought still counts.)

The achievement is "Hand-Eye Coordination", you must find and use either Hand of Vecna or Eye of Vecna, THEN escape the trial.

You loot the hand or eye from the Vecna specific chests that spawn around the map, but you must roll a 20 to get it, and that's needless to say rare.

So the achievement is hard to get, because not only do you need Vecna in the first place, you must get the correct item, use it, AND escape. 😩

When you look at it this way it would even make sense to believe a 2v8 mode couldn't work at all in any way shape or form so why try? Under this argument the highly popular 2v8 shouldn’t even exist yet it does.

That's just not logical at all.

Being you're going to mention fallacies later, I'll mention a few as well, and this is an example of the Nirvana Fallacy: presuming that unless something can be perfectly done it shouldn't be done at all.

When you are taking a base thing and modifying it to a different format, various changes likely need to be made. Potentially including leaving some elements of the original behind.

As an example: in 1v1 challenges gens become irrelevant for extremely obvious reasons. That is a huge, core part of DbD that just disappears. Certain killers also don't get carried over. That doesn't mean 1v1 is somehow bad or shouldn't be tried, its just being realistic about the different formats.

I think it's easier to think of how something can't work instead of how it can.

Depends on the person, I'd say. But generally speaking people will always demand more and better.

I still have a hard time believing that Bhvr would roll out an exciting new gamemode with no intention of bringing the full roster over to it.

    Why not?

'Hey, we got this mode, people will really love it, but when we look at how the killers are designed only 30 of 38 will make sense'

    'Nope, trash it.'

As I said, my expectation is that BHVR thinks they'll get every killer in. Maybe they will succeed. But if some of the killers don't fit, there's nothing unexpected about that.

Again if this argument was followed to its natural conclusion then there would also be no point in developing new Survivor classes- which again I have a hard time believing won’t be making their way into future iterations.

You're confusing natural conclusion with a slippery slope fallacy.

Regardless of re-working Legion for 2v8, doesn’t this argument reinforce the idea that unless the game is perfect nothing else can be tried and worked on?

No, its being realistic about costs and development times.

While BHVR is a large company, there are still practical limitations. They have 1v4, new killers, new meta changes, bug fix, balances fixes, new modes, and every other change in 2v8 to think about.

Legion is a killer pretty despised by the exact portion of the player base BHVR needs more people to be playing. Taking all of that into consideration, pushing such an issue way down to the priority queue, probably into a 'never realistically going to get to' section would be a logical conclusion.

But outright advocating for the removal of a Killer who took development time to get 2v8 ready citing development costs seems counter-intuitive to me. I think the sunk-cost fallacy is often improperly applied by a community who assumes Bhvr’s “ill-intent” on the regular.

The sunk cost fallacy says you shouldn't prioritize the work you already put in. Time spent is irrelevant, only impact and costs/time going forward. I have no insight to how BHVR operates in their decision making or what it would take to get Legion to a place were more of the community was happy with him.

But the knee-jerk reaction of removing Killers we don’t like is… Definitely a reaction.

I'd say the chance that BHVR removes Legion is somewhere approaching 0%.

Legion is in, and will stay in. BHVR though should be cautious with killers as they go forward. Each new killer introduced now adds more complexities because killers can form teams that may be broken in balance and/or fun. It is possible that they'll come to a killer that is just best left to 1v4.

First of all, thank you for your patience and respect.

You make good points and I think I understand your position. Please correct me if I am wrong but you believe that 2v8 is a fun diversion that has the potential to eat more resources than it should. On the grounds of that argument I can agree with your points.

You pointing out the 703 Killer combinations was particularly powerful. I mean it’s the map problem right? Every new addition creates exponential more work. I won’t be unreasonable. I get that and I can sympathize with that point.

2v8 doesn’t need to be perfect to exist. Pragmatically I can agree with that. Ideologically I obviously want 2v8 to please as many people as possible while expanding to as many options as possible. But again, I do see that the potential resource sink is there.

  • @crogers271 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3884031#Comment_3884031

It's not realistic to think that with 38 killers, and 703 possible combinations, that everything can get work. Killers were designed for 1v4, it shouldn't be a surprise that some of them won't work in 2v8.

I expect that BHVR will try to get all the killers in. I think that will also eat up a ton of dev time and frequently impact the enjoyability of the mode.

It also doesn’t make thematic sense to hype up a brutal new game mode and not have the expectation of eventually adding in the full roster.

There's a whole ton of survivor perks I can't use, and with good reason, in 2v8. Trying to force 1v4 perks into 2v8 would be a waste of time.

But I can’t justify their removal without trying everything possible to keep them present.

At a certain point, you're just developing a new killer. If Legion had a totally different power, but was just called 'Legion' and had the skins, what's the point? That would be a lot of invested time for a secondary game mode when there are so many other issues to tackle.

It’s easy to beg for new ways to play, and then complain when they aren’t perfect. It’s an easy yet unfair set-up. Are Survivors escaping against Legion? Yes. Will Legion be changed if their kills are too high? I can’t see why not? But outright advocating for the removal of a Killer who took development time to get 2v8 ready citing development costs seems counter-intuitive to me. Legion (and by extension plague) simply can't work in 2v8. In 1v4, they can quickly injure all survivors and keep them injured but that is balanced out by the fact that afterwards they have to play tiles like normal m1 killers. This no longer applies in 2v8. Legion can easily keep all 8 survivors injured (and occasionally get a down out of it), while allowing fast teammates like blight, wraith or hillbilly to quickly dispatch them afterwards. Feral frenzy needs significant restrictions to balance it for 2v8.

I have a hard time believing that a final determination on their exclusion can be made so quickly without trying out all of the options. If their powers are too oppressive then I’m of the mind that they can always be modified.

It just doesn’t make sense that the highly popular 2v8 mode would limit the roster instead of expand. It doesn't make financial sense to drop a Killer that has had labor hours dedicated to them. It also doesn’t make thematic sense to hype up a brutal new game mode and not have the expectation of eventually adding in the full roster.

Look I’m going to be honest. I can't stand Legion either. After Wesker, they’re my least favorite Killer(s) to go against. But I can’t justify their removal without trying everything possible to keep them present.

if having a certain killer in the special game mode is making it more unattractive to play the survivor role when it’s already struggling to attract survivor players, then absolutely it makes sense to limit the roster. I and many others would be much more willing to play survivor if there was no possibility of Legion (and of course no bots). Currently I am not playing this mode and lots of other players have fled already

Tweaking their power is out of the question?

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

2v8 was a lot of fun in previous iterations. It’s not a lost cause. BHVR ruined it by implementing bots even after most people told them it was a bad idea. Introducing Legion, one of the most boring and unfun killers to play against, was also a bad idea. Keep the new elements that were added for survivor, get rid of bots, get rid of Legion, provide some better incentive rewards for playing Survivor role and 2v8 would be great again.

    get rid of Legion

I mean I know people don’t like to face them but they’re still part of the roster. It doesn’t make sense to limit the roster instead of expand? I feel like if people are that angry then it would be better to tweak the Legion’s power than outright remove them. What about all the players who are Legion fans excited that their favorite Killer is finally in 2v8?

Idk it doesn’t seem like a it would be a good idea to remove any Killer from a gamemode for any reason other than to killswitch them if they’re glitching the game.

now that sounds ridiculous. Very bad queue times I'd predict. Killer would be way better than survivor

    now that sounds ridiculous.

Ridiculous as in cool? Or ridiculous as a rude statement? Because it sounded rude and uncalled for. I hope you weren’t trying to be rude.
