I'll always slug a survivor who runs to first pallet, drops it and then runs to second pallet and drops it with a t-bag after both pallets.
I mean I need to eliminate a survivor that shows such skill and I'm fully deserving of the t-bags after 2 pallets in a straight line.
Haha, sometimes I also encounter a survivor who is too good at looping and t-bags, and then I don't care about gens anymore, I just want to kill him π. I don't camp and slug, but I tunnel him till the end. I feel it is fun, and I think he also feels that. Anw, he wanted me to chase him. In this case, it's a fair and fun game.

Slugging with Knock Out actually doesn't bother me. Because it tells me straight up what their strategy is (slugging) and I can try adjust my gameplay. It's harder in solo admittedly, but if the rest of my team are getting gen progress or are in good in chase, I don't mind being the designated pick up person until I go down. To me it's no different to a survivor bringing a sabo build or BGP/FB to focus on hook denial for instance. Some people go into a game with a plan of attack and you just gotta adapt. I had an Unknown earlier who slugged a Dwight and I and then proceeded to just hump our bodies until we bled out. That's not strategy, that's just trolling. Intent matters.
The killer always finds me before I can find where my teammates are lying. It's a big problem to soloq if the killers have 'exposed' basekit and bring revealing-aura perks.

The buff makes it so you can take a hit, Sabo and still get away without going down, I don't think it is insignificant...
When I play as a killer, I find that the buff doesn't affect me too much unless I encounter a bully team or SWF. Ya, that's it for me, this depends on each person's feelings.

Knockout Slug is the solution to the ongoing theme of hook denial that's been present in the past few months via BGP + Blinds/pallet stuns.
Hooking a Survivor when there isn't enough pressure is already a time sink, not to mention many 2nd chance perks activate after a Survivor is unhooked. The upcoming sabotage changes is just the new version of the same theme. If the action of picking up and hooking a Survivor carries so much risk now, then it makes sense to not hook until there's enough pressure.
This means:
- The Killer can look for the next target to chase, which means more chase opportunities/time to interrupt gen completion
- No 2nd chance perks like OTR/DS until the game has reached a point where they dont matter. Most players are bringing these perks to combat tunneling.
- That one player crouching nearby with BGP and a flashlight probably becomes the next person chased, forcing a third Survivor to get off gens to pick up Slugged Survivor
- A Survivor who is a few seconds away from fully bleeding out is no different from a Survivor being on death hook
- Solo Queue or even Swf don't have much experience dealing with such an aggressive playstyle.
- Ultimate Weapon being nerfed leading into a reduction in usage of Calm Spirit allows for Infectious Fright value which pairs very well with slugging.
People seem to think that slugging is just toxic but at this point, it's a different way of putting pressure on Survivors without stacking slowdown perks.
As I said, slugging was never a big problem until it was used with the perk 'KNOCK OUT' π.
Like the Ghostface guy above, combined with revealing-aura perks, the trial had taken place within around 1 minute.
I don't SWF, so it's a big problem. I couldn't find where my teammates were before the killer found me.

I havent seen the buff my self, just saw that it got buffed. - can you link me to some numbers?.
A green toolbox (32 charges) with a Hacksaw and a Cutting Wire are already troublesome as it is. i was able to sabo a hook in front of the killer (carrying my friend) and run to the next hook he was going for and sabo that aswell, so he had to drop her.
That was without the background player perk.
Buffing it will result in an even stronger output, and i think you can expect that killers will slug even more when it happens.
I doubt any loosing team is having the same fun as a winning team, - where is the fun that a lot of survivrs are dragging time in the endgame?? - i do believe that some killers bleed survivors as payback for that, and while i dont do it my self, when i play killer. I do understand the fustration some killers have over this (im a former killer main my self, and in 90% of my games people did that, even when i intentionally let them escape).
I understand what you go through as a killer because I do too. If I encounter survivors trying to hold the game hostage, it's really frustrating, even though I'll find them anyway.
I find that the toolbox doesn't affect me too much unless I encounter a bully team or SWF.
I think camping, tunneling, and slugging come from the urge to win.For me, winning or losing is not the most important, as long as the trial is interesting. When playing as a survivor, sometimes I stand at the opened gate and can escape, but I choose to try to save my teammates even though I know there's a high chance I'll die. If the killers play nice, I'll play nice.

@[Deleted User] said:
With sabo beeing buffed you can expect to see more of this as a counter.
The buff is insignificant, and most survivors are soloq. I often watch Twitch, and have faced many excellent killers, this buff does not affect them. They play nice and reach 4K easily. Using this style of play to "counter" is only for noobs. The question is: what's the fun in playing like that game after game? πΆ
-
@Devil_hit11 said:
For SWF, it does nothing. they just call out the person on the floor. Bond directly counter it because it shows aura's of anyone within 36 meters.
Only third seal slugging is an issue for soloq but it is hex that nobody runs.

Camping and Tunneling are not reportable, and frequently reporting things deemed not reportable can potentially be considered abusing the Report System:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/139-game-rules#discarded-report-reasons
Hmm π, ok, thank you for the reminder info.
However, it's so funny that there's a section "
Unsportsmanlike" in the report board. If tunneling and camping are considered "well play" or "e-sport spirit", I find tournaments meaningless.Since my early days playing DBD, I have always reported 'Unsportsmanlike' players (including survivors and killers). I don't think they were banned, but I think those are important feedbacks, somehow measuring the impact of that style of play on the community (also on those who are newbies or planning to play DBD). From there, BHVR can find a solution and some appropriate mechanisms.

But if you are a player who favors tunneling and camping (especially Bubba), so I can confirm that you are the one who will never get 4K (even 2K) if you play nice haha. I've met (in my game) so many killers who well play with 4K and 2 finished gens (especially The Nurse). You also can watch them on YouTube, Twitch, or some tournaments.
Remember, the report always has the category "Unsportsmanlike", so nothing wrong with my report haha. π

really isnt that bad when you consider bubba hardly has a power until all the pallets on the map are gone. Even then, if a killer gets 1 kill who cares? You should be able to crank gens, and of the killer leaves the hook for some reason you can always get pull and reset the pressure that the killer has
I was the first one to get camped and tunneled from him. This photo was taken when the "endgame collapse" was happening, I was just spectating the trial.
The truth is that some killers are very indifferent to the gens, they ignore them, as long as there is one person on the hook, they are satisfied. π
Pallets are not very effective in a chase with Bubba, and the chases with him are a real nightmare for survivors who don't bring the running perks.

I still believe Bubba specifically should start slowly / gradually losing charges if they're not participating in chases and hovering around an active hook. Literally one of the easiest ways to solve the camping issue with him to allow saves.
He's getting basekit buffs finally so I don't even see a camp nerf being problematic. At the same time I rarely see Bubba anymore since Billy buffs. Personally Bubba camping has never really impacted my games too heavily but most people hover around hook instead of doing generators when he's doing it.

There is not much which can be done. Those are simply symbols which the game cannot display. E.g. Japanese or Chinese language or some special characters which you can use on your platform, but are not included in DBD.
Overall, I dont think it is much of an issue.
But how strange it is, the fonts are clearly shown in the trials. π

There should be a couple of options to auto spend bloodpoints

- Auto Spend all of your bloodpoints
Having those four options or even more than just the current would be nice. I could save up max and hit a button to auto level and walk away until it's done. Alternatively and ideally the game just calculates how many nodes / levels I'd get with a certain amount of BP and just jumps those levels granting me everything I would have acquired.
How would it work with the UI?
Simply select the center node like usual and then a menu with those four options pop up except the Bloodweb option is just double tapping select and the others is a different button so you can spam buy a single web like normal.
Less time on bloodweb more time in game please.
Wonder if BHVR will read your feedback?!! π π π π π π π

ok next time I play killer and the survivors are doing gens very fast I will bodyblock one of them in the corner until the server dies because they didn't let me play the game long enough due to their very fast objective speed and that will be perfectly fine thank you for the advice
Haha LOL, you're so funny, and toxic mind, bro!!
Ya, I agree that you can do some tricks when face up with a party (I mean a true party of 4-man SWFs), but you know, most of survivors must co-op with strangers (that is a big disadvantage), and sometimes, they have to pair up with cowardly teammates (who try to survive alone, not dare to do rescue or do gens, wait for teammates to die to escape via the hatch...). Furthermore, they don't know which perks their teammates use to make their good choices to create the best combination. If the whole team go with gens perks, they gens will fly, but in that case, it means they don't have many good perks in chasing or escaping. In reverse, if they're a bully team with many surviving perks, it means that the gens will walk slowly unless they're good at looping, and you're bad at chasing and killing. Remember, you always have perks options to help slow down gens significantly.
If you bodyblock a Survivor just because of that, then surely you may not be able to get 1 kill if you encounter a good team, the 3 others will complete 5 gens and then take actions to protect and save that teammate. You will be mad on your own, then everyone will be toxic towards you in the chat dialogue.
I bet when you play as a Survivor, you keep getting killed (even though the Killers doesn't even have a tunneling or camping action), and you'll ask why can't I do gens fly, or why the killers' base kit are too OP :))))). Then you'll be mad, and back to play as a Killer again, then you'll ask why the heck do gens fly :))). It's truly a cycle for you.
I wonder, why don't you play Survivor more to understand what I'm talking about, and why don't you watch more tournaments (on YouTube) to learn how to play better?
And I have advice for you: don't put too much emphasis on winning and losing in this game. Just relax, it's okay if you don't kill anyone, it's okay if you don't survive, as long as you had interesting chases, and you played well, and you were lucky enough to meet opponents who also played well, and give each other the word "GG" after every match.
I have 1 video for your reference. It was in an old patch. However, you can somehow understand how high-rank Killers make the most of their abilities. Everyone knows what the 3-gen strategy is, but how many people are good enough to do it? Truly, I'm not, I'm just a normal player looking for entertainment.

I still remember how it was totally okay for killers to pick the most oppresive area lockdown killers (Hag, Knight, Skull Merchant), force a 3 Gen and then keep that game hostage for 30+ minutes just to tell the survivors to "suck it up" or "simply play better". So yeah⦠what goes around comes back around I guess.
Besides, isn't it kind of the point of this game? Survivors hiding from the killer and the killer finding them?
Ya, it is really the point of this game. However, it would be completely different if the Survivors didn't even do anything even when the Killer was far away. In reserve, it would be a real problem if the Killers only focused on finding and killing (by camping, tunneling) exactly 1 Survivor. I always tell people, if they want to know how a GG is, just watch some tournaments.
-
@bleep275 said:
I refuse to play survivor because of how severe the tunneling is. I get that killers can feel the need to tunnel, but by playing dirty to guarantee a kill, you are inadvertently skewing the performance results of killers. Keeping the devs from buffing the killer in a way where you donβt need to tunnel because the stats show the killer has a balanced kill rate. People gotta take the L to allow proper balance and drop mmr to a more fun level for them
Ok bro, I always love people who have good playstyle. I never complain about the Killer/Survivor being too skilled. I even sent my thanks and compliments to them for playing so nice. If I luckily survive a tunneling/slugging/camping match, or luckily end the hostage game (by cowardly ones), I'll tend to gift toxic words towards Killers/Survivors after those trials.
-
@Senaxu said:
I think that's the wrong approach. Killers shouldn't be punished if they tunnel, they should be rewarded if they don't. Extra regress for the next gen regress event after a fresh/change hook as a basekit e.g.
There are already enough perks to punish a killer for tunneling.
agree bro π

What's more important..
The fact that you won or lost,
or why you won or lost?
There's some ambiguity in this of course. I'm leaving that up for your interpretation.
I play both sides, I understand positive and negative emotions (when I'm the killer committing bad deeds, or the victim of the tunneling, camping). At first when I first started playing, winning and losing was very important to me (because usually game players always want to win), but after a while, perhaps just for DBD, interesting variables occurred in the game are important to me.
I may not be able to kill anyone (zero-K) when playing as the Killer, and I may not be able to make gens fly when playing as the Survivor. It no matters, as long as both sides have good play, I will never complain about the opponent's skills (when they are too good in their roles).
I really hate killers who still try to protect their tunneling/camping/slugging playstyle with ridiculous arguments, and survivors who always play cowardly.. No matter which side they play on, they always blame the other side, and have toxic words after every match.

Why would someone need to play nice in a PVP game. If you want to be played nice with play a PvE game. Some times you get killed early and don't get to play. That's how it is.
This is what I mentioned in another person's post on the topic of "game hostage":
"If someone is so afraid of death that they don't dare to do anything, then play killer, and in reverse, if someone is afraid of not being able to kill someone without camping or tunneling, then play survivors."
(you can search that topic: "
Can we PLEASE create a solution for survivors holding the game hostage/refusing to participate")I mean, if you can't kill in fair play, it's about your skill, don't blame. Or else, play more as a survivor and you'll understand. If you're complaining about why genes fly, then play survivor, then you'll see how difficult it is when you meet a skilled killer, they don't need to camp or tunnel you and still reach 4K.
About "Why would someone need to play nice in a PVP game"β¦ hmm, Why would you ask this LMAO question? Have you ever learned what e-sports is? And do you play sports in real life? Do you understand what the word "GG" means, or what a fair game is? I bet you don't!!

trying to justify the other side committing a bannable offense because the killer did something that many see as a "dirty tactic" is insane.
camping serves a purpose and it progresses the game. holding the game hostage does not.
imagine if you cut me off on the road and in return I slashed your tires, wouldn't be a problem I guess because im just reflecting your rudeness
As I said after the "FINALLYβ¦" world (in the previous reply)!!
So you did admit your playing style is dirty? If so, you wasted their time for connecting the match with you, because you did not invite them to participate in the game, so they also have the right to retaliate, they are willing to waste their time just to make you too. feel as annoyed as they were at the beginning of the game.
About "bannable offense" list, it's just a matter of listing at BHVR's discretion!! In this situation, it's about the emotional side of the game. Just like in real life, in a friendly card game, you are constantly forced to lose by 3 other players. Although it is not forbidden, you will feel like you are not "entertained" in the game. Not being able to enjoy the game properly, and you may have the mentality of trying to sabotage the match.
Again, if you can't kill in fair play, it's about your skill, don't blame the survivors when they also react in the negative ways.
Hmmβ¦
I would like to repeat what I have mentioned in previous reply here:
"If someone is so afraid of death that they don't dare to do anything, then play killer, and in reverse, if someone is afraid of not being able to kill someone without camping or tunneling, then play survivors."
I mean, you should play survivor instead. If you encounter a few situations similar to this, you will understand why.
-
@StalkingYou said:
If you have over 1k hours on this game you've probably experienced at least a couple games in which there will be two survivors left with 3-4 gens remaining, and instead of trying to do anything, the survivors just hide all game and keep you in the match. It is very frustrating and petty.
I have this happen from time to time and it is a big problem. Im making this post because I just experienced it again, and while I did find one of them in the end and get the 3k, it took 20 extra minutes and I never want to deal with it again. There needs to be a mechanic in place that reveals their positions to you if they dont do anything for 5 minutes
Oh, and then the survivors will message you afterwards and try to say that it is YOUR fault they acted that way.
The person who got the hatch in the game I was just in messaged me trying to say that he wouldn't have acted like that if I didn't "camp at the start" grown man btw, I checked.
There needs to be something done about this or it will just be a last resort option for the survivors to troll a killer because they're salty they got obliterated with 5 gens left
They said you did "camp at the start", really? If you did that, so it was your fault, don't blame why they held the game hostage. You acted as a bad killer, so they reflected your playstyle.
HOWEVERβ¦
If you well played with the e-sports spirit, I totally agree with you, they should be stopped somehow. I also met so many matches like that where I did a good play but they acted like cowards (only hide as you said, do nothing, even from the beginning, they just ignore their teammates).
A good game is where the killers don't try to camp and tunnel just to secure at least 1 kill (from the beginning), and the survivors never ignore teammates, always try to finish their jobs even in tough situations, not try to do endless hiding.
When playing as a solo survivor, I also hate teammates who act like cowards, especially in the late game. Sometimes, I luckily match with the killers who understand that kind of situation, and they gift mercy to me who trying to do gen while killing the cowards who only hiding somewhere.
FINALLYβ¦
The trash killers should be prevented somehow, and the cowardly survivors should also be prevented somehow.
If someone is so afraid of death that they don't dare to do anything, then play killer, and in reverse, if someone is afraid of not being able to kill someone without camping or tunneling, then play survivors.

I have over 1500 hours on Steam, and have been playing both sides for years.
I'd estimate that I play survivor 80% of the time and killer 20% of the time.
I should start by saying that there is one situation where the game is survivor sided, and that's when there's an extremely well-coordinated SWF who are actively tryharding to win the game. But that's a very small percentage of matches, and barring that, this is what the game feels like:
No matter if I'm playing survivor or killer, I feel like the killer has too much control over how the matches end up.
If a killer is tryharding, they'll win 9 out of 10 matches (unless there's a serious skill issue on the killer's end), while survivors lose much more easily even if there's high skilled players. Most of the time the match is only "fair" is if the killer is playing with honor to give the survivors a chance, or if they barely know how to play killer.
I feel like a reason behind this is that killer is simply too easy to play (with the exception of some killers like the nurse who has a high skill ceiling), and I'm guessing this is probably the case because the developers themselves aren't good at playing the game, so they have no clue how to balance it, and instead end up designing a bunch of brain dead killer abilities.
The Unknown, for example - his AoE shot is so incredibly brain dead that anyone who's played a FPS with arcing grenades is an instant master at it.
Normally with such an arching grenade mechanic, a direct hit would deal the most damage, with a splash hit dealing less damage. But with the Unknown, it doesn't even matter if you get a direct hit or a splash hit,it all hurts the same amount, instantly filling the bar. And to top it off - it doesn't even have a LoS check, it'll damage through obstacles and walls.
These are the kind of brain dead abilities that the devs have been designing with many of the later killers added to the game, that barely require any skill and just automatically hurts the survivors if you just kinda try to get them.
To give constructive criticism and not just complain, here's how an arcing grenade like what The Unknown has SHOULD be designed:
Direct hit = Fill bar instantly, Splash hit = Fill bar 66-75% so splashes require 2 hits (fill % needs to be above 50% or survivors would instantly lower it below 50% and turning it into 3 hits). Splashes NEED to have a LoS check so they can't hit through walls.
Back to the topic at hand, I feel like another thing that contributes to the game being killer sided, is that in order for survivors to win, all 4 of the survivors need to be trying to win. it really is a game of time management, and survivors don't have time goofing around if they want to win, they need to focus on doing generators and being efficient with who loops the killer, who stays at the generators, who goes for the save, etc.
If you have even just 1 survivor screwing around, it doesn't matter how good you are at looping (unless you're on the level of Demi or Spooky). Gens won't get done fast enough.
And here's where challenges ruin it - They're time consuming for the survivors, and this is time they don't have if they want to win. So if you have a survivors goofing off trying to find glyphs or other things that waste their time, they're likely going to lose. Even without challenges, one dumb decision by one survivor can mess it up for everyone else.
As mentioned previously, the devs aren't good enough at the game to understand how to balance it, so they try to listen to player feedback to decide how to balance the game. But the problem is that, from my experience playing this game for over 6 years, people who play Killer are some of the biggest complainers about how they're underpowered, when it's clearly a skill issue that they refuse to admit they have. The developers sees that and think they need to buff whatever the issue was, and then "learn" from that when designing new content as well.Yes, there are survivors complaining too, but compared to killer complaints, survivor complaints are more often about things like getting tunneled, camped, slugged, or other things that feel unfair or unfun like certain killer abilities that feel unavoidable or inescapable. There aren't the same amount of requests to just keep buffing and buffing and buffing, compared to the amount of killers who keep just wanting to be stronger.
When this is the feedback the devs keep getting, of course killers are going to be overpowered. The people who refuse to admit it are likely relatively new to the game, or playing a killer outside of their skill level.
EDIT:
All of this was written after spending a whole night playing nothing but killer. It does not come from "oh no I die a lot as survivor". I feel bad for people I play against, and I don't even consider myself top-tier.To be honest, when I play as a survivor, I can relax my eyes, mind, and heart when I get hooked. But when I play as a killer, I don't have a moment of relaxation. I have to keep hunting non-stop, and especially, my eyes have to be constantly vigilant.
As a killer, I used to camp and tunnel when I first started playing this game. However, I soon realized that it only annoyed people and wasn't effective against high-rank survivors. I never use red add-ons, like the Tomb-f*kin'-stone, which are considered cheating. So, even with very good basekits, as you mentioned (for example, The Unknown), it's still incredibly challenging for me to secure 4 kills against high-rank survivors. And I believe they're not always a party of four, and even they're all matched strangers. If I want to secure 4 kills, I have to carefully protect the gens while hunting and killing, so having good basekits is necessary.
As a survivor, I don't see any killer's basekit as a problem, unless they use red add-ons. If they have a nice playing style (no camping, tunneling, or red add-ons), and I'm lucky matched with well-coordinated teammates, so I can survive somehow. The result is also based on which perks we use, can they counter the killer?
Truly, I used to think like you when I was still learning to play survivors, but not now. I agree that each person will find it difficult to face certain killers. To me, they're Wraith, Ghost Face, Trickster, Skull Merchant and Good Guy (no mention of player skill).

What if 1) when the killer hooks, it is automatic teleported to the most progressed gen (so he can pressure gens and the map and find a new chase). This also denies camping and hinders tunneling. Both sides get something. Then, to reward NOT tunneling, if the killer is in chase while a survivor is on the hook, gen speed is regressed by something like 5%. That way Survivors have to get the unhook or lose efficiency. The debuff ends when the hooked survivor is saved. Yes. A teammate can just unhook right away, but that Killet STILL had a new target in a critical area (high progressed gen). So everyone gets something.
It's an interesting idea, but "teleport", no way LOL, it's overdone bro.

Gen rushed doesnβt always equal a loss. I also rarely lose if I tunnel. Do I have to tunnelβ¦noβ¦sometimes itβs useful..Not sure why youβre so bothered by my comment, but hey to each their own.
Just because I mentioned it doesnβt mean I am βcryinβ about it. Itβs part of the game but when I tunnel thatβs also part of the game. Imma keep doing it too. Been working out for me just fine. π€·πΌββοΈ
It's okay, I understand that sometimes tunneling is a solution depending on the situation, as you mentioned. When I play as a killer, I don't intentionally tunnel, but sometimes the unhooked survivor just happens to appear right in front of me, LOL. One of the most amusing experiences as a survivor is engaging in a Tom & Jerry-like chase with the killer, in a decent manner. Often, while the victims don't have a decent chase, the remaining survivors can't enjoy the pursuit. Even when they intentionally make themselves visible, the killers just ignore them and also overlook those who are repairing generators nearby. Initially, for many players, escaping is nearly the only goal. However, after playing for a while, a game focused solely on repairing generators and escaping becomes dull. I think we still need to find a solution for killers who seriously and consistently resort to camping and tunneling.
