Yes, the whole removing DC penalty since we have bots. You pretty much said, "No that's bad." But never really gave anything other than that.

    My apologies for that.

My personal opinion about current bots: They are as good as they don't exist.

They are purposely missing skillchecks, they getting stuck, they bodyblocking other survivor players, and most common - they are VERY bad at loops. Basically - Now you have a "Ballast" in your team that you have to (or not) waste time saving on hooks.

And because of that, they are practically makes no difference in the outcome of the match, sometimes even make worse.

Even spectating them is just hilarious.

Me and other players that I know, even some content creators don't like bots at all. They think the same as me, that they shouldn't have been added into the game. Since it's a very poor band aid to cover "UNBANABLE" DC's.

In a HotS game that I mentioned they were even worse in terms of "Feeding the opponent". But still DCs were considered as a bannable offence. And they were very serious about that.

  • I'm pretty sure Developers are aware of this issue.

There were plenty posts in a Bug report section.

Be patience please and wait for it.=)

  • @Ariel_Starshine said:

I asked for an official response before regarding if giving up on hook is unsportsmanship and I was told yes.

I was told to even give up to give a mate the hatch is considered unsportsmanship, so I don't know what to think.

If I have to afk and it's an emergency though, like someone hurt themselves, I'm sorry but not sorry, RL comes first. Period. Not some silly video game. That's taking it way too far.

I didn't even mention that if something happened IRL in a safe reasons to DC, since it's a common sence.

Not a single game matters more, than something happening in real life. It's not even a point of any discussions. It's a nature of gaming.

And yes, as I said multiple times - "Giving up on hook just because you didn't like something about the match, should be considered as unsportsman like conduct".

It should never be ok to ruin everyones match, just because you heard Nurse's blink at the beggining of the match.

    Why not?

You brought it up but never gave any reasoning for your opinion.

You need to be more specific with questions, "Why not what?"

And what exactly did I brought up that never gave a reason, you mean bots?

That's precisely why I think we should remove the penalty for DC'ing and then remove the ability to miss skill checks on Struggle.

We have bots now. They're actually not bad. Currently, you are discouraged from DC'ing and encouraged to suicide on hook, which is the opposite of how we should want it to be. You should be discouraged to suicide and, well, not encouraged to DC but have it be the more appealing option of the two, if that makes sense.

And for those that may say that there needs to be a punishment, there is. You lose BP, XP and any challenge progress. I think DC's might count as a loss as well, so you'll end up getting worse teammates (other people who spam DC), in theory.

Also, as for my flashlight example, it was an example using your own logic.

That was a pretty bad example, I'm not gonna lie. This was completely out of what I'm trying to say in this topic.=)

How in the hell... Removing DC penalty is going to cure that? It's gonna make it worse. This problem is gonna be reduced only by removing the survivors ability to 4% and removing skill checks from second hook. DC penalty should NEVER GO OFF.

    That's it, end of story.

And btw, didn't I just said in my first post about bots...

"We have bots now taking over a player, so it should be ok to DC from a match" - As ridiculous as previous one, the game like HotS (Heroes of the Storm), there were the same "bot replacement" but the players were still getting banned for leaving the games. Personally I think the bots are not treating the problem, even for killers. (At least right now)

I knew already that someone gonna bring up bots, I swear to God...

Not sure if you've noticed, but DBD isn't some hyper-competitive MOBA.

You just seem so....idk, maybe entitled? Like, you're reporting your teammates or opponents because they do stuff you don't like. You have no idea if they're going for a challenge, if they're physically handicapped or heck, maybe they're just bad. None of those things are bannable and I'm glad they aren't.

It'd be like me reporting my Survivor teammates for going for flashlight saves. It's not optimal and is wasting time, therefore it's throwing and they should be banned.

Well you know, when someone in my team purposely saying "F my team I'm out", then why are they even playing as a survivor? Don't purposely ruin my matches.

It has nothing to do with "Hyper-competitive" or not.

Entitled for not liking when someone from my team DC's and makes the game misserable for me... Seems ok.

What are you talking about flashlight saves being not optimal... Ain't you just said that "You can't report people for being bad"?

Are you even watching what you're saying?=) You putting an "not optimal flashlight saves" in the same spot as DC or killing yourself on a hook. That is wrong in every aspect.

Being bad at the game and DC (suicide on a hook) is a completely different stories.

You know what's crazy, there's not a single game called Dead By Daylight in that list.

Nor is there a single game that's asymm.

What genre you consider DBD as a whole? Just Asym?

First of all it's a PVP game simply because one side compete with other on the "Arena".

It doesn't matter if there is differences in teams or differences in goals.

In any MOBA PVP games, you will eventually get banned for DCing from your games.

Doesn't matter what side you playing Killer or Survivor - it's not ok to feel free to leave (rage quitt or DC) from a match whenever you please.

Harsher punishments? My dude the DC penalty is already at 3 days max (which is ridiculous enough) and it adds up quickly, regardless if you intentionally DC or not. What do you want it to be? A week? That would 100% kill the playerbase lmao

If a player reach max penalty from DCs, that means only 3 things:

    1. Player have constant server issues.
    2. Constant individual internet issues.
    3. Constant DCs from a matches that they didn't like.

With server or provider, there is no way you or devs will not fix the issue until you reach that max penalty.

I'd say punishing people for being bad is more ridiculous.

You can't force people to play. You can't force people to try. What's next? You want to ban people for doing Archives? Maybe you just want to ban all players who run No Mither?

Oh come on, I'm sure you will find a difference between purposely killing yourself on a hook from just being bad.

Yes, I can't force people to play or try, but you know what I can do? Report their bad behaviour and get them banned as it should be, for ruining my games by rage quitting.

As I was doing in ANY MOBA games, that I suppose you haven't played ever, if you keep conducting such behaviour, and make it look "Ok".

No offence, just my personal opinion.

I'm guessing that after it will be acknowledged as unbannable offence, you will have 3 out of 4 games with a 1-2 DC's.

I'd love to see how you gonna have fun in this game after a hard day at work or etc... xD

Can confirm here that this is not what the report form is referring to, hence it's saying that disconnects are not a reportable offence (although I do understand what you mean due to the way it's even on there).

Regardless, survivors dying on the hook is not a bannable offence nor a reportable one.

And you can't prove that someone died intentionally on the hook, that they missed skill checks on purpose or by accident - hardware failure etc. There's no intention of banning for this.

Dear Mandy, it's basically means that everyone can freely kill themselves on a first hook, and say: "Oh I just tried to 4% at first, then I kept missing skillchecks, oh sorry guys".

I mean, this is ridiculous. Is it not? =)

  • Neat outfit, can't much be said.=)

  • Dude, just check patch Notes. xD it's right there on right screen in "Quick Links".

    @burt0r said:

It isn't, but should be if you do it in the first 2 minutes of a trial.

How it isn't, if it is?

You can put "killing self on hook" in the same category as "Ragequitting". It's in the "Unsportsman like conduct".

It's like "feeding" in any MOBA games like DOTA or LOL in order for your opponents to win a match faster.

The only thing different is that you avoiding the DC penalty.

We need the MOD to answer this correctly tho.

With Bots in the game it shouldn't be any difference.

  • What do you mean? They're doing exercises. Are you against sportsmans or something?!

  • @MoNosEmpire said:

Someone had messaged me on PSN today comparing prestige to RACISM, yes you read that right.

Prior to that message, they were in this same game, this particular player ended up griefing it by telling the killer where I was, refusing to do gens and working with the killer. (I got 2 gens to 50% and the rest of the time I was being chased). Them meanwhile, still couldn't do a gen, just healing and running around.

Now the reason I'm saying all this is because maybe it's time to change the type of report functions that are in the game. They should be more specific than vague and they should allow you to report for exactly what the issue is.

This will not only make the game better overall, it will help the dev's to understand what type of trends are starting to become more popular so they can address these issues a lot sooner rather than later. Yes there's the chance of false reporting too but that's why with the new system mixed with the forums it would just make more sense.

And maybe, just maybe, people should start to be accountable for what they say out of the game in messages about it. This last sentence is a bit of a conundrum I can't lie.

I've read your message 3 times, and I've got 0 idea what the first sentence means. xD About "Comparing presige to racism".

The thing you are talking about is simple griefing.

We do have a proper report for that. If I'm not wrong - It's in the "Trolling" section - Working with the killer (Other side).

From survivors POV I'm not sure... Here screenshots from survivor POV in a match:

    4.png 5.png

  • I'd rather not. At least not the same as it is right now.

  • Completely disagree.

Well first of all it's a matter of taste.

Second: Recolors aside, there is a lot of good looking skins.

I mean, yes there is some flauds here and there with some skins quality, but overall skins for killers are really good.

I've only complained about what... 2 skins for all these years? I've complained more about skins in other games tho.

  • Singularity is the embodiment of "Survivor sided killer".

All issues with this killer can be answered with this exact sentence. This killer needs fixes and buffs imo.

  • If you place a survivor and killer (Let's say Wraith), with equal experience and skill level - this survivor will run you alone for 2+ minutes (depends on a map).

With 2+ min chases, killer will end up with 2-3 hooks (luckly) and 4 escapes.

Yes, you can just abandon the chase and go for someone else, but here's some troubles:

    1. You may have 0 idea where the others are. Result in a wasting more time traveling the map.
    2. The other survivors may have the same experience and skill level, as previous one you decided to leave.

The issue with this game imo - M1 killers, or killers being inefficient with downs. With no matter how many hours you got into the game. It's how those killers were designed.

In a match without tunneling and proxy-camping, the killer should down survivors within 20-40 seconds to be efficient and have a fair chance to 3-4k.

Since those killers cannot afford to down survivors quickly enough, they have no chance but tunnel 1 survivor out as fast as possible, in order to achieve "something".

This is a consequence of having tiers with killers. Unbalancing issue.

One day it may end up in a global pick rate decrease for any M1 killers. They become extremely rare. Which is a VERY bad sign.

  • It's a little annoying as a survivor, but you can't remove completely a small obstacles from every single loop.

It's aesthetically wrong to have a "naked" loops and tiles, while having a loads of garbage (los breaking stuff) around open areas all the time.

  • My thought process behind it:

The newer features like disabling hook grabs, basekit bt, anti facecamp mechanic are PRETTY MUCH enough to make survivors gameplay more fair and enjoyable.

We even have some killers have anti-camp mechanics built in their powers.

I do think it helps, it's not useless even by bit.

  • Thank you both!

Now at least I know whats happening with bug reports. I'm gonna continue to report if I see something weird.

I had 2 surivivors doing this to me when I got my second kill with 4 gens left, they did nothing at all but hiding for at least 25 minutes until I found and closed the hatch 5+ minutes later (wanted payback), I know the game will end after a hour or so and bla bla bla, but they aren' t playing, they are simply wasting my time without cheating, can it still be considered keeping me hostage?

Edit: The game lasted a total of 36 minutes or so, the 25 minutes is the time they did nothing after my second kill, it was in the swamp map so it's extremely hard to find survivors that only wants to hide.

Yes. They were indeed holding your game purposely.

I personally had the same expirience (very rare but still), when 2 last survivors were hiding in a lockers for 46 minutes.

This moment got me actually angry because of this game. xD

I reported them both for holding the game hostage.

Scratchmarks and footstep noises have been really awful lately. Sometimes there are random gaps in scratchmarks, even if the survivor is just running in a straight line.

  • Even without Mandy 's confirmation, I already knew that this was a bug.

It makes no sense to any coding, when sliding off the objects just because you "hugging a wall" and looking down.

A better question is: Is this considered as a bug exploit? Because if it was, the players like @Lilithomen would be banned like 3 years ago.

    I haven't seen a single gameplay by him, when he didn't use a hug-tech.

and I have my second daily ban in a week, give me a break

23 hours? You have to create a support ticket.

    That is unacceptable.

  • It's a good question, that was probably not even considered, when anti-facecamping were implemented.

Ok, so could you explain how tournaments existing proves that the pub game experiments Hens wrote about never happened?

because if the pub game experiment happened, that means it's possible to win without tunneling. therefore, to prove that you were right about tunneling being "a must" those games must have never happened. since you think the existence of comp games is proof that tunneling is necessary, those comp games must by necessity prove the Hens experiment did not happen. Otherwise, it's just an example of tunneling happening despite it not being strictly necessary

Have you yourself actually played against a decent survivors who's doing their objective as a M1 killer?=) How it went?

Tournaments actually shows you how this game works, if everyone in a match are very expirienced players.

I've no clue what Hens wrote, I'm not checking Twitter. I'm talking from my personal expirience, when I happened to reach this level of gameplay against very strong survivors. Without tunneling as an M1 killer you will end up with 0-1 hook before everyone gets out.

No matter how good you play, what perks you using, what map you are on. The game is falling blatantly on a survivors mistakes. If they don't do mistakes - you're screwed.

    @Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:

I don't want to restrain my self from speaking, just because I was playing with a kid, who should not even be in here in the first place.

I personally think that there should be a reason to report and block the account for that kid, if I see a kid playing a gory game.

If a child's parents don't give a sh about what their child playing or watching, their parent licence should be removed.

I would never let my kid watch or play something like DBD. It can harm a kid in a very disturbing way.

And btw, it's in everyone jurisdiction to report that to the developers and they should act with all seriousness.

    You are completely right.

Kids should not play this game. It's at their own and their parrents risk, because not only a "gory expirience" that this game brings, no one knows at the end-game chat that they're talking with a kid. The end-game chat is a 50\50 of being nice of not.

the OP said that tunneling and proxycamping "are a must" in order to win. I provided a sample of games that proves the operative word "must" to be incorrect

the point is that winning without those strategies is possible. if it were not, those results would not exist. the point is not to say "why can't you" because we all know why they can't - some killer players are simply not good enough to win without those strategies (and that's fine! you don't need to dedicate that much time to a goofy asymmetrical horror game. i simply choose to not care about winning, and other people can choose to care about winning but use easymode tactics like tunneling instead of grinding the hard skills). that doesn't mean, however, it's impossible to win without those strats

If you bringing up a very expirienced player twit, I can simply bring up Tournaments. xD

In which I think you know how everyone play and what normal gameplay is.

here is also another alternation that i said in my post make m1 hits unavaliable while you're using tail attack. Both abillity tail attack and normal hit is too much at this same time.

That will be a horrible idea btw. xD

The tail attack can be abused by survivors by it's "janky" mechanics. Even in the open survivors can simply push left or right in the right time to avoid the hit and push w to run on the other side of the map while you recover.

I'm not even talking about hitting over the objects now become something unrealistic for some reason.

The tail just keeps hitting "invisible walls" even if you aim much higher.

"Again, you have to play Xeno yourself"

  • If I can be honest, any time I play killer - I play Xeno.

    I'm addicted.

  • There was an actual state:

"The more you using crutch perks, the far worse you'll get if you lose them."

To put it simply: Both killers and survivors become addicted to some perks, that they completely forgot how to play without them.

I remember using Red herring, Sabotur, Diversion. I touched a Gen, get into a locker for noise (Red herring), killer came to my Gen, then leave. Then I used Sabo to make another noise, killer came back again, check around then leave. Then I used Diversion to make another noise.

That Demo checked around my Gens 3 times, 3 Gens done before it even starts the first chase.

    *No painting for a comment...?*

    0479fd3f0b04f7a32dbc3962fbfe09b8.jpg

As I was saying: Making a killer to check around before an actual chase is so viable, and it was like that always.

  • Slugging for a 4k is not consider as "Holding hostage". You will bleed out.

Heres actual scenarios that you can freely report as a holding hostage:

    1. 2 last survivors hiding in lockers for a whole match without any attempts to do gens.
    2. Killer bodyblocking a survivor at some corners for a whole match.
    3. Killer is not chasing last 2 survivors, just not letting them do gens.

There might be more that I missing but basically:

Any "move or doing" that preventing the game from continuation or preventing a player from simply playing a game.

While "Slugging and being on a hook" is considered - Simply a part of a gameplay.

  • @Halloulle said:

The thing is; the changes have to happen on the killers that currently "have to" tunnel. Trapper just got those changes and while it doesn't make him S-tier (which it shouldn't in the first place) it does make him a very viable killer across different skill levels.

What if the survivor side was changed by, say, increasing gen times? It would only amplify the gap between already above average killers and the rest. Those who already stomp would stomp even more (and guess what, the only strat against those is to try and break the friggin escape record and do gens asap).

Once all killers have a viable strategy that promotes dynamic and interactive gameplay on all sides it's, imo, imperative that one-sided strategies are removed from what's mechanically possible (and in the long run that includes tunneling and proxy-camping for killers as well as gen rushing for survivors).

*Trapper just got those changes and while it doesn't make him S-tier (which it shouldn't in the first place) it does make him a very viable killer across different skill levels.*

Trapper is a viable killer just screams to me that you haven't played against a decent survivors yet, if played killer at all.=) Sorry.

I respect your opinion, but recent Trapper's buffs got him nowhere in terms of gameplay, if I can be honest.=)

    @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    Yeah, yeah, we get it.

You *have to* tunnel and camp every game, there's literally zero options and your hands are tied. Also, nerf survivors or the killer community will quit and the game will die.

Been hearing it for years, including during the gen kick meta.

I don't know about camping, but tunneling yes, I do think I'm right about what I just said.=)

Don't get me wrong here, I do not like this tactic at all, I wish we could get rid of it, but I do understand that some killer roaster just need it in order to just not dissapear.

Without viable tactics to at least "Score something", no one will play anything aside from only strong killers. The game will become boring.

I just bring Inner Healing so I can be self-sufficient and Bond because it's pretty good when solo.

For me the hardest decision is knowing if you should go take a protection hit, or keep working your gen. And MoM is kinda countered by insta down killers and right now everyone is playing Myers cause of the days.

I wish if you took a down for someone it actually gave you 2 charges or something. it feels so hard to get 3 protection hits and not throw the game.

My gameplay were simply going for at least 1 protection hit and getting the hell out of the way to heal.

In a situations when killer, after a protection hit, going after me, I consider as unfortunate and trying my best to prolong the chase as much as possible.

You know what, 2 charges for a down is a pretty good and healthy idea for such perk. I consider going down for your teammate as a very bold, but very "Chad like" move.=)

  • Something changed about the gameplay.

Now as a survivor you will do better, if you hold w as long as possible, before an actual looping.

It drains more killers (except Blight) time with any chase. Hiding and running early makes the killer to check before leaving which is time consuming as well.

It's just a good tactics imo.

  • I love you. Good job.

Mom is one of those perks that you hardly find use of especially in soloq, but when you do, it's so satisfying.=)

I'm still using this perk on a tanky build, it actually won me decent ammount of matches, this perk alone.

Posts like this make me really consider starting to stream. I might not be an Otzdarva or SpookyLoops but I don't have that much more room to grow. In my games I just can't go for 8 hooks before killing and the last time I let a player on deathhook purposefully get away and spared them, I was rewarded with them joining the gen slamming session and doing the part just as good as anyone not hooked yet. Tunneling isn't just "a cheap trick employed by killers unwilling to improve", nor is it the "be all, end all tacti ", but it's often a necessity in today's meta in order to not getting swept away.

    This.

When survivors actually do their objective and they can loop for at least 30-40 seconds, as a killer you have no chance to even 2k, if you don't tunnel 1 guy out early.

It's simple. Don't forget that at the beggining of the match killer loses 2-3 gens before getting first hook, and in most of that time it's not even a killer's fault.

If people actually want an "Anti-tunnel" mechanic to be in the game, then devs should consider longer time for gen reparing, or Deadlock and Corrupt as basekit for killers.
