No mither, up the ante and slippery meat with unbreakable is fun. Use a luck offering.
No slugging, no sitting on hook until daylight.
That sounds fun. I think I will try it later today.

Removing the BP Bonus from BBQ and WGLF was the worst decision BHVR has ever made for the health of this game.
Not sure if that was THE worst because there are other contenders, but one of the worst? Yes, definitely.
Those perks were perfect, they encouraged killers to spread the pressure and survivors to be altruistic, and the reward even helped with the massive grind DBD has.
No one wanted those perks to lose the BP stacks and I'm certain no one would complain if they were reverted.
-
I don't think No Mither needs changes, tbh. The perk is meant to be bad because it serves as DBD's hard mode.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
They did not do any changes because they wanted to bring the mode back earlier than LIghts Out. So no changes were implemented, even tho they will probably change something at a later version of the Mode.
But I have to say, players seem to be more sweaty this time.
I didn't play the first version of Chaos Shuffle, but I've noticed some of my games were very sweaty.
And that ruins the fun. It is hard to do anything as Freddy when your build is terrible, and being tunneled without having DS, especially considering I despise being tunneled, is an awful experience.

Sounds like a skill issue on your part. If you’d just looped for 5 gens and then escaped you wouldn’t have died.
I do remember fondly one match against Ghostface...
It was shortly after his release, and I was playing solo on Old Haddonfield. I was the first to be found and chased for 5 gens.
Then my teammates left me to die.

What would your suggestion be for a replacement?
The ranking system with the original rank reset. It isn't perfect, but it is better than SBMM.

Some fine tuning of the older Emblem system?
Ranks with the old rank reset that actually sent you back to the lower ranks would be fine, imho.

I remember when they first introduced it and so many people were complaining because they had to actually try if they wanted to win. No free wins just because you queued as a certain killer with a certain loadout or automatic loss because you’re not playing with friends.
There would be so many content creators getting humbled right now if sbmm was working like how it was when it was first introduced. It’s hilarious to me how a lot of these streamers believe this mmr works and that they’re in high mmr, yet almost all of their survivors can’t shift tech or even know how to hold basic checkspots..I’ve gotten momo’s blight and oni at least 6 times in the past year when I’m duo queued and we get 2 randoms that couldn’t tell you what day it was even if their lives were on the line. But when I’m 4-stacked we can go on a 10+ win streak that day and still get killers so bad that I zone out. It’s so sad 😞
To be fair, SBMM would never remain the way it was because the first tests had a lot of negative feedback. I still think the entire system should be scrapped.

I 100% agree with you on both killers for sure. I only started playing barely 2 years ago. (When Wesker came out is when I got here) I HATE Wesker, but Ghostface was in first place for a few weeks until weskers release because every game as survivor I got teabagged, hit on hook, camped, tunnled. The works ya know lol. I didnt understand it at the time, but it was annoying.
The problem I have with him has always been the reveal mechanic. Except during his PTB where it was extremely easy to reveal him, but that was very unfair and had to be changed.

does your statement about fast paced trial apply to gens as well?
Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. Which is why original Ruin was my favorite perk in the game.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
This is the one event where I can confidently say it is NOT killer sided. The RNG of this mode affects both sides but most killer perks are just…bad. If The Entity does not smile upon you and give you at least one gen slowdown perk, you're usually cooked unless you're REALLY good at killer (or the survivors are really bad…).
I'd give the edge of survivors every game in this mode except the few times The Entity blesses the killer and actually gives them useful perks.
This.
My first game as killer I was blessed by the Entity with Corrupt Intervention, Call of Brine and Pain Res. My second game I got a bunch of Terror Radius perks… with Freddy.
I think survivor is more fun than killer in this mode, tbh.
-
If we were still in the golden days with the original, up to 30 seconds, version of Remember Me and before No Way Out was released, then I think it would beat Blood Warden.
But with the current state of the game, Blood Warden is his best.

The Game.
The rework changed it from killer-sided to survivor-sided, but that is the only example I can think of.

I've tried having my camera centered all over the place because I've heard that same exact thing (your character model "blocks" the camera from seeing GF so you need to have it in the top 1/3 of the screen so you're not in the way). Never seems to work and we just have a staring contest that ends up with me losing every time :D

And still somehow people want killers to go for 12 hooks. How are you supposed to go for 12 hooks when the first 8 are going to take 8 minutes. And that doesn't even factor in the time it takes to start those chases.
Because people want the old killer playstyle of spreading the pressure. Back when you saw BBQ in every game.
There is a great difference between the direction DBD has gone, and the direction people wanted it to go.

Yeah, items and add-ons should be randomized.

He's already a very weak killer. As a survivor, your job is to deny him stalking you or force him into dumping his stalk by taking protective hits and such. He keeps his distance and stalks you over time. That's his whole schtick. If that deteriorated, then he may as well not exist as a killer, consider that he stalks, then has to approach to ambush, and womp womp, his stalk meter deteriorated. While most killers rush in and go straight for chases, ghostie has to prep his ambushes and chases (unless he's just playing basic m1 style and may as well be playing trapper or wraith at that point). The stalk meter deteriorating would essentially punish him for using his own unique mechanic. He has zero chase power, so he's entirely reliant on successfully stalking someone to 99 and saving them for a later ambush…assuming you're wanting to actually use his power. Stalking someone up in their face only works against new players who don't have any situational awareness.
I think there would be a point to be made if his reveal mechanic worked properly, but it doesn't.

I go out of my way to not tunnel and camp but that's still not enough so it's a fair question to ask.
Somewhat close, yes, but I don't think anything can really compare to the good old days. It wasn't just peak killer meta, no, it was peak Dead by Daylight.

You have less than 1% see Freddy in the main game, so lights out didnt do that much
But I see him every time I play, because I am Freddy in those games. If I cannot play my favorite killer, what is the point?
-
Uhh, it is random. The other side isn't guaranteed to have better perks than you, it is all up to luck. I don't think players should be able to choose items and add-ons, but other than that this modifier is pretty nice.
And no, no Lights Out again. Twice we've had it and twice Freddy was excluded. I don't wanna deal with that for the third time.
-
It still is a thing, but unfortunately it has been hurt by unnecessary changes to the maps, Coldwind Farm in particular, and the game constantly getting new anti-loop killers, which shouldn't have happened.
There is nothing worse in DBD than a fast paced trial. No one has time to do anything and it feels awful. You don't need to make every single map a new Pallet town, but survivors gotta have something to work with.

I say 99 should deteriorate after a bit. The devs want you to get a stalk to 90 something before getting in close, revealing them, then jump out. But 99 chase builds are kind of like Myers’s and removes the fun parts of him.
I say 99 should deteriorate after a bit.
I agree.

It will help with the grind, no doubt. Thank you, friend!

he does have that part and it’s annoying from both sides. Sometimes you’ll be looking at him and not reveal him and sometimes as ghostface you get revealed by someone across the map or have someone following you to not let you get in power.
It is the worst part of playing against him, no doubt. But there is also the issues of 99% survivors, as other people here have pointed out.
Not a fun character imho.
-
I think Freddy is extremely unlikely to get cosmetics anytime soon. A blighted cosmetic for him would be nice, yes, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

For me, the most dumb part of Freddy is that failing skill checks wakes people up.
That should be the no. 1 thing to remove in case of a rework.
I think it can stay if the Alarm Clocks are removed, which in my opinion should be done. They make it way too easy to wake up.
At least you're not guaranteed to get a Skill Check immediately upon interacting with a generator.
-
For a very long time, he was the killer I hated most. That reveal mechanic made so many of my survivor games miserable that I've lost count.
But not anymore. Wesker took the title from him.

I agree. It's not much but it's way better than his dream snares and pallets. Also, mobility is always good on a killer and the idea to reward Freddy with a lower cooldown for having people in the dream world isn't bad either.
It's just sad, that you wake them up by hooking… I mean, you literally counter yourself. Why not have a different mechanic like with Pyramid Head's cages that would put the unhooker asleep as well? That would already make him a little better and more unique.
It should also allow you to teleport to finished gens. At least then you wouldn't lose the best part of your power during the end game.
It's just sad, that you wake them up by hooking… I mean, you literally counter yourself.
I think it was probably created to stop Freddy from just finding the survivor immediately thanks to the aura reveal and hooking them again.
I like those small details of Freddy's power, and I think they have a place in the game. But clearly they were all designed with the original Freddy in mind. No one expected him to get reworked, or that he would reach a state so terrible that fair counterplay becomes a hindrance.
-
I don't think map offerings are unhealthy for the game, I think the maps themselves are the problem. If they were balanced we wouldn't have this issue.
There was a patch, quite some time ago, that tried to adjust the maps while making them fair for both sides. Those were the original map adjustments, before the big reworks, and I think they were the solution to this problem.
-
No killer meta will ever be as healthy for the game as BBQ in every match was.

Friendly reminder that Freddy has a teleport as well…
The only aspect of his reworked power that should be salvaged, imho.
-
The old style of spreading hooks, I'd say. Back when BBQ had its BP stacks and the strongest slowdown perk available was Ruin.
That, in my opinion as someone who plays both sides, was the perfect killer meta.

Yup. I own every single survivor and yet only play a small handful of them. I bought them for their perks, most of which have been changed (nerfed) since. Bring back old Dead Hard, CoH, DS, IW, etc etc or else I demand a refund
/s just in case
It's insane to me that people buy into live service games without understanding exactly what that means lol
Imagine if I were to ask compensation for the five years (and counting) of my favorite character being gone.
-
Well, I've disagreed with almost everything that has been done to this game since July of 2019, so unless the entire game (except Legion) gets reverted back to how it was when I first played it, all the way back in 2018, it is unlikely for me to have a lot of positive things to say about its current state.
It isn't unplayable, no, it just isn't the game I want to play.

Maybe this is a bit much but along with what you want, I feel like he should be able to near instantly teleport to his blood pools if someone steps in them. It’ll work similar to the Hags trap but maybe on a 60 second cooldown?
I’m really spitballing here. I just want him to have something fun, interesting and similar to what he can do in the movies like coming out of walls. Maybe he can have traps that sprout arms and latch onto Survivors, rooting them into place without injuring them?
I purchased him not long after Stranger Things because I was new and everyone said he was strong and easy to play. I found him unimaginative and boring. Haven’t touched him in over 4 years now.
I feel like this ability, on top of everything that has been suggested, might be a bit too strong, my friend.
I mean, it is already a powerful kit. Adding something similar to Hag's ability, which is pretty powerful, might be a bit too much. Could be worth a test, though.

No one can blame you for not wanting to play him. I took him all the way to P100 and not a single one of those games were as fun as they should have been. As they would have if we still had OG Freddy.

Greetings, survivors, killers, and both-siders of the Fog! I hope this thread finds you doing well. Thanks for joining me today.
So, Freddy Krueger is currently trending around here. Unfortunately, it is not for a good reason. This poor killer, my favorite character in the game, is completely ruined. And this situation cannot be tolerated.
It is with that in mind that I would like to present you, once again, my idea for what should be done with this character. I have been a Freddy main since 2018 and would be honored to have a shot at fixing this killer that I truly love.

Yep, this is peak visual design. I like the Map Reworks with more details, I just wish that the Maps would have this visual design again.
And I think the worst offenders are Daytime Maps like Eyrie or Coldwind. I used to joke that DBD became so bright that it can be called "Dead in Daylight" and then they decided to release Maps which are actually in broad daylight…
I've always disliked the map reworks, to be honest my friend, but I agree the worst offenders are the bright maps.
Especially Coldwind. At the very least Eyrie has always been terrible, but Coldwind used to be good for the horror atmosphere. Now it looks awful.
