wow when was this?? This sounds amazing!!!
The All Hallows' Eve was a Halloween event in 2017!
It added the theme you just heard, a new lobby background that looked amazing, two new items for survivors (Will O' Wisp and All Hallows' Eve Lunchbox), a new headpiece for the Nurse (Sally of the Lantern) and, after a few days, the release of the Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter!

I’ve never knew that Myers sound was in the game wowwww that’s actually a great idea. Man was it perfect for old dbd.
A perfect addition to a perfect game, I'd say. I really, really loved the Old DBD.
Every little thing from that period they return to us is a small victory in my book.

Oooh… I was never here for this one. That is deliciously eerie. Love the grindy twanging and the three-note descent after the first Dies Irae. Thank you for sharing this piece of the past!
No problem, my friend! Glad you liked it!
Unfortunately, I wasn't around for it in 2017. I first heard it watching videos from Freddy's release, and I did get to hear it in-game when they brought it back. I have another piece of the past to share with ya, and this one is really special to me.
The Winter theme, the one I heard when I first booted up this game:

I know that they said they will give him an update eventually but they also said that with Twins in 2022. So that might still take a few years. Although, credit where credit is due; the last few mid chapters have been stuffed with content, so maybe it won't take that long after all.
Maybe the Tombstone itself can stay. The Tombstone Piece however should go. The Tombstone itself has the downside that you need forever to even get to tier 3. The Tombstone Piece not so much. You may lose 2-3 gens but then 1 survivors is dead. I don't think that's good design but I also think they are a nice little reminder of old DBD. So I'm a little on the fence about them.
I think the Tombstone Piece should stay if they gave the survivors a warning.
And I think I have a good way of doing so.
Myers used to have a sound cue that indicated his Tier 3 was close. Perhaps we could make Tombstone Piece play that sound cue when he is about to tier up.
For reference, it is this one:

Well said, my dear friend. It is good when killers are an actual threat.

you can remove the trap but can’t do anything if they are just proxy camping the hook
That goes for most killers, to be fair.

If a Doctor manages to prevent the unhook forever, then you as a survivor did something wrong. Unhook when he isn't around and when he stays around the hook the AFC takes care of the rest.
A camping Tombstone Myers could not be stopped even if you were able to move immediately. He would still mori you. These addons are as outdated as the rest of him but for some reason the devs seem to be allergic to changing him.
Myers is set for a change, though I believe the Tombstone add-ons should be kept as they are.

All Hallows' Eve, of course:

Homie that's on the killer choosing to stay in chase for that long. That's not the game being 'survivor sided', that's a killer being a bad killer.
One of the most important things about killer is knowing when to drop chase.
That I think is the consequence of us having way too many chase oriented killers in the game. It was fine in the past, but now if we look at it there are a lot of characters focused in the "1v1" aspect of the game, and few who are focused in the "1v4".
Killers like Old Freddy, Singularity, Old Doctor and even Myers are extremely important for the game because they teach you things like when to drop chase, when to go for each survivor and how to control the map. I think some killer players these days are hesitant to drop chases because they are used to characters whose only power is ending chases quickly.
That doesn't mean killers who played the characters I mentioned would never commit to a chase, it only means they are more likely to know when to drop it.

Nom nom nom. Thank you.😋
Thank you, my friend. What I wrote was inspired by "The Tyger", a really good poem.
And like I said, it is a beautiful way to tell his tragic tale.
By the way I actually played him myself yesterday, it was my first killer match since 2v8 because I busy with other games recently. And it was a hell of a reminder of why Freddy needs his changes, hopefully a dework, ASAP. The match wasn't even a defeat, I got 2 survivors, but it just isn't fun. His current power is so boring, it doesn't fell good to play:
I love this killer to death and I always will, but since 2019 it hasn't been easy to be a Freddy main.
-
I kinda wanted to test the executed Skull Merchant, but the changes are so severe that I think the PTB will be miserable.

Hey, my fellow Freddy mains who are still around… maybe we should stop carrying this killer. Fourth deadliest killer in the game is something to be proud of, but the rework is approaching so maybe we shouldn't risk it.
-
Yeah, I think Med-kits were overnerfed a little bit.
If you go through older threads on the Forums, you'll see healing was rarely ever complained about. For a long time Self-Care was a healthy perk and part of the meta: it didn't give you an insane speed but it did allow you to heal yourself. That only changed around Spirit's release, when the healing action going from 12 charges to 16 absolutely murdered the perk. After that you had to have a Med-Kit to heal yourself, which were absolutely fine by themselves.
No one had a problem with healing until it was allowed to reach extreme levels with the original iterations of COH, which seems to have been a perk created with Hexes in mind: a powerful effect which can be removed from the trial. But Boons cannot be permanently destroyed, so that perk was unquestionably overpowered and it had to be changed.
The Med-Kit nerf was too much, I don't think it should have happened.
-
It is really unfortunate the only time Freddy changes his appearance in the remake was during a deleted scene, because I personally prefer the remake but that movie doesn't really have anything that could become a cosmetic.
One of the reasons why they should have kept that scene in, tbh:
EDIT: If anyone wants to watch, the scrapped ending is available here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCZf9NmlI38 -
Freddy, oh Freddy, they threw down their spears
And heard the voices of endless tears
Did they smile their work to see?
Did they who nerfed Billy nerf thee?
A beautiful way to tell his tragic tale, my dear friend, I liked it.
-
Though they already set it with Freddy over 3 years ago. And noone fought then. We will get his rework eventually I'm sure. Twins rework did great right?
The silver lining here, my friend, is that they don't have to come up with something new, as they did with Twins.
Revert Freddy back to his original 2017 iteration and give him the Incapacitated status effect during the Dream Transition. Problem solved.
And after the changes to Billy and Onryo, I think there is hope.

Hello again my friend!
I think the original Ruin was a casualty to how it crushed newbies so harshly. Particularly in a period of the games existence when skill checks were far more iffy (especially with a controller) due to the peer-to-peer lobbies and our old favorite, the game's own coding.
Hello, friend! Good to see ya.
I gotta say I always thought it was good for Ruin to be a challenge at first. It really thought you to hit those Great Skill Checks and the importance of finding and cleansing Totems. That was healthy for the game, imho.
-
Truth be told, the killer role has been fully playable and winnable for a very, VERY long time.

I dont think we should ever expect Freddy to be a valid killer again, it seems that no one cares. I think its wrong that they still sell him, i think at this point they should just delete him and make hes perk common perks.
I care.
I am here for Freddy. I have been here for the past five years because of Freddy.
-
I don't think that is the case, to be honest. BHVR has done nothing illegal by nerfing Skull Merchant, it is all written in the TOS you and everyone else here agreed to in order to play DBD.
For example, I am not happy DBD isn't the same game I paid for back in 2018 and I strongly disagree with the direction the game has gone. I've made that very clear over the years. But there is no legal action to be taken here, the TOS I agreed to specifically stated that such changes could happen.
Should they have happened? No. But there was always a chance they would.

Old old Ruin was unhealthy. Sorry, but it was a Perk which affected newer players more than experienced players. And it was also heavily RNG-reliant. AND that it could be paired with other Slowdown-Perks like PGTW was just bad.
If you talk about the 6.1.0-Nerf, Ruin was a casualty to "change the Meta". Nothing more. It was unhealthy with Undying and Tinkerer, but IMO nerfing Tinkerer would have been enough back then.
But other than that, no idea what your post even wants to achieve. It is certainly not a good argument.
Heh, it is funny how our experience with this game is somewhat similar, but our opinions completely different.
I think the old old Ruin was easily one of the best and healthiest perks they've ever designed.
-
Slugging was never as common as some players think it is, to be honest.

Artistically, this looks great … gameplay wise …. ehhhhh :D
I have played a lot of Chucky in this mode and its quite fun. Just entering hideyho at random and have survivors jump at food steps leads to some unexpected generator blow ups, and the smol size can really shine without a red stain and in the dark. But I can count on one hand how often I used the charge attack in the pitch black ^_-
Hmm … using Legion seems to be a bit strong, I think they should be switched off for this mode, just like Freddy, because they are just not fit for it.
When playing Killer, I embraced the silly nature of this mode. Its a bit paradoxically: gens can fly so fast that you basically have to push the advantage and get one player out pronto. But once that is done, I try to go for maximum hooks and usually let the last players go.
I don't think any killer should be excluded, my friend. I'm not exactly happy rn.

the complaints were two folded on both his iterations. i think only positive for skull merchant is that since she won't be listed for any changes, there is more chance for other more important killers to receive changes. skull merchant's reworks are wasted opportunity costs changes for other killers. Now that she's bad, bvhr doesn't have to care for changing her as high priority.
If the nerfs go through, that is. Maybe there is a chance.

i think your over-thinking it. they're nerfing skull merchant because survivor disconnect too frequently vs the killer. by nerfing the killer, the killer will be more easily 4 man out and grant free wins for survivor. this will make survivor play more games vs skull merchant.
i think very obvious problem will be that skull merchant will be very low play-rate due to being weak so even survivor does d/c less, they'll play vs merchant very little.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3799647#Comment_3799647
this precedent has been there for many killers. freddy is pretty much F-tier because survivor complaining about his gameplay.
To be fair, Freddy's reworked power was not healthy for the game.

Well, the same conversation happened when both nerfs for legion and freddy were announced, so this isn’t new.
People that playted with this characters became sad and made several posts to bhvr to not nerf them into the ground, but they did.
To be fair, there wasn't really a movement to stop Freddy's nerf back in 2021.
Back then he had already lost his unique identity and was already boring to play. Many dedicated Freddy mains were no longer around.
-

Skull Merchant is one of the few characters where I think their design is so bad that regardless of what BHVR does, they will always leave people disappointed.
- If they cater to the people who like her, the killrates will only go up since more people will just give up. Her design is not fun to go against for most players.
- If they cater to the people who dont like her, nobody will play her since she will get gutted and made awful.
I think they should pull a Freddy at this point and do a completely rework since she is just that poorly designed. I know BHVR said that they would never do something like that again but I genuinely think it would be for the best here.
"I think they should pull a Freddy at this point and do a completely rework since she is just that poorly designed. I know BHVR said that they would never do something like that again but I genuinely think it would be for the best here."
The problem with this is that you need to be sure there is really no other option. None. At all. Because a full rework should always be the last resort.
There is a reason why such drastic changes rarely happen. Just look at Freddy, look at how many problems he caused after the rework, how boring and uninspired he feels, how his original mains, like myself, lost their character over five years ago and didn't get him back (not yet).
Full reworks are not a good idea, unless there is no other option.

The practise seems very familiar though. Nerfing a killer so much without compensation that they vanish from matches, making them less of a "problem". I very much dislike this.
True, but I am not sure if this is what happened to Freddy.
Back then I was against the idea of nerfing him because it wouldn't fix his actual problem, which was and still is the fact he's uninspired and simply not an interesting killer. But his reworked power really wasn't healthy for the game. Spamming Dream Snares and getting your Dream World slowdown for free with Jump Rope and Swing Chains wasn't fun for anyone involved.
But now, with Skull Merchant? Now it looks like she will be bad until the rework to minimize the number of complaints.
-
500k? This one is good.
