oh was that the one where a blind or pallet hit at any point of pick up resulted in the survivor being dropped?
Yes, it is.

You can convince me of many things but Freddy is a tragic story and I can't place him anywhere else than at the very bottom.
I find it much easier to believe that the 3 Freddy mains out there are just so good at the game. 😘
7 Freddy mains, if I recall correctly. But I wouldn't be surprised if the number has changed since last time.

They've had so long to work on this. Why is Freddy not playable again?
I would really like to know, my friend.
They've known for months that Lights Out had issues with Freddy's Dream World, and they could have fixed it.
Not exclude him again.

Freddy mains cannot catch a break.
Indeed, we can't. And it isn't fair.

I read over it, whats the outrage?
The flashlight / pallet saves:

The most outrage? No. I think 1.9.2 is still the champion.

I thought I had convinced ya he is not the worst, my friend.

The boring thing about this mode is you will only play as or against two killers, Leatherface and Legion
People would get a chance to play against Freddy, at least in my games, but he isn't available... again.
-
@jmwjmw27 said:
Kinda ridiculous that they couldn't figure out a way to adjust or remove the dream world effect if it was causing problems with the darkness in the mode, even after all this time. Unless they simply decided Freddy's inclusion wasn't worth the development time, which is understandable for a LTM in a live service game but still very sad.
What makes it even worse is the fact that Freddy mains complained about being unable to play him on the very first day of the original Lights Out.
They've known for seven months, and yet he isn't available again?
Was there even an attempt to fix the issue?
-
Skull Merchant's nerfs were overkill, yes. But at the very, very least, she hasn't suffered for 5 years.
Freddy has it worse. Worse than any other killer, imo.

Darn, indeed. It is what Freddy mains have been saying for over 5 years.
It just never stops: nerfed a week after release, received the worst rework in the history of DBD that completely removed a character from the game, then nerfed again, excluded from Lights Out, excluded from 2v8 (as most killers were, but you get my point) and now excluded from Lights Out again?!?
When does it end? Why must us Freddy mains suffer like this?
-
This is too much, my friend. It is unacceptable.

@GeneralV said:

Never mind.
…Why do I even bother?

I didn't think it was possible to nerf a character to be worse than Freddy, yet BHVR continues to surprise me. Congratulations Freddy mains. He is no longer the worst killer in the game and has moved up to bottom D tier.
He never was, though.
Freddy can be deadly in the right hands. The problem is that, even if you win, you won't have fun.

From a power standpoint, his rework wasn't bad.
I know mains like you have a problem with the rework because it completely changed his playstyle.
You're right about the problem of completely changing playstyles, my friend, but from a power standpoint the rework wasn't good either.
The powerhouse he became after the rework wasn't healthy for the game. Spamming Dream Snares and getting your Dream World slowdown for free with Jump Rope and Swing Chains wasn't a good design. Not to mention it created the problem of Freddy feeling boring and uninspired, which cannot be fixed without reworking him again.

it’s like they nerfed her to wait for her complete rework which doesn’t even make sense.
Heh, it is a sad situation that feels very, very familiar. Welcome to my world, my friend.

I've never actually been this mad about changes before and Ive been PISSED off at some things BHVR has done. But this? Butchering Skull Merchant to a barely playable state with NO compensation? Thats your plan? Just nerf her so harshly that everyone stops playing her so you wont have to deal with the complaints?
This reminds me SO MUCH of Freddy down to the tea.
>Gets Released
>Community despises on launch
>Decide to rework power entirely
>People still complain
>Pump full of nerfs so horrible that they become a detriment to even play
>No more complaints because no one plays killer anymore and the only people who are upset are the mains of said killerSeriously BHVR, why is it instead of working with what you had, fine tuning things and playing around with actual ways to make the killer fun, is your idea just slaughter her dead and hope that ends the backlash? SM hate was already hugely overhyped and just trickled down from her previous state and the previous meta and instead of addressing anything actual about her you just stack on several extremely hard hitting nerfs and call it a day?
Ive been trying to bite my tongue on some things BHVR has done since they released Maria and shes always been my #1 request but I REALLY cant ignore this in any capacity, this was just an unneeded destruction of a character that has quite literally made her an M1 killer with nothing to compensate for it. OH! Actually there is! When she scans someone THREE times, they get slowed down by 5% if they get scanned a fourth time! Survivors no longer have to worry or play in a team, nope! Skully has all her same counters which worked just as good, but her stats have been obliterated to the point she makes Trapper look S tier and this was the bright idea that took you guys almost a year to come up with?">Community despises on launch"
Only by those who refused to learn how his power worked.

Needing to run self-care just to counter a single killer wasn't a good design. The addition of the clocks I think were the best idea BHVR had when it came to Freddy.
Honestly his rework wasn't even bad, but they eventually nerfed all the good aspects of his kit, because like SM survivors hated the fact he had a build that could slow down gens effectively.
"Honestly his rework wasn't even bad,"
It was.
-
I think they went too far, this nerf is too much.
I can understand the fact that players still don't like her, because the same happened to Legion, but this is a bit extreme.

Horrible.
ANOTHER FREDDY-NERF (Dead Mans Switch no longer triggers when you fake a teleport at a generator for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th time). So its basically a perk for every random killer, not for a unique killer design.
At this point the upcoming rework is our only hope, dear friend.
-
I will only play it if Freddy is playable this time.

I predict an influx of whiny threads about how “the devs don’t care about their preferred role” without any constructive input or criticism like the current children with alt accounts keep posting.
As for actual content. Meh, I’d rather not think about something that is so far off and just wait for the Devs to give us the teaser.
As it always happens, dear friend.
-
I agree.
Obviously most of the meta will always be locked behind the DLC characters, unless you get lucky with the shrine that is, but it isn't bad to see content becoming a bit easier to access.

This Saturday, friend! :D I have no word on if Freddy will be playable, I sure hope they managed to make it work.
This Saturday? Nice! Thanks, my friend!
I really hope Freddy will be playable this time. Not being able to play him the first time was awful.

Do we have an ETA for the return of Lights Out? And, more importantly, will Freddy be playable this time?

So what do you want? Maps for gameplay, or aesthetic?
The original iteration of Chapel had both and it was a perfect map.
-
CoH did need a nerf, but the original Self-Care from before the healing changes in 2018 was absolutely fine as it was.
-
Yes.
There is a reason why many OG players disliked the Realm Beyond from the very start. It may have advertised as an update that wanted the game's visuals to be modern and realistic, but in reality it did nothing but completely delete the game's atmosphere and unique style.
Think of Cuphead, for example. Cuphead is a game that has an unique style, similar to vintage cartoons. Those visuals are an important aspect of the game, and it would awful if that game was changed to have modern graphics. Same thing with DBD, except that DBD did go through the change, sadly.
Such feedback was given when the Realm Beyond updates were being dropped, but it seems to have been ignored.

Exactly, and as I think about it more, I 'm not sure they should expand the killer roster, at least not fully.
Part of me wants to play my main killers in 2v8, but I think that expansion might ruin the mode. At they very least they should be very intentional about which killers they implement, because I can easily imagine some profoundly unfun combinations.
I must say I really disagree with that, my old friend.
The best part of 2v8 is the fact that you can finally play killer with a friend, which was impossible outside of one specific glitch. The killer roster having severe restrictions just makes damages what is supposed to be a good experience, because you literally cannot play the characters you want to play.
That is how I felt with Lights Out, where Freddy was the only killer not available to play. These restrictions should not exist.

Okay i forgot about freddy because NO ONE PLAYS HIM. you're completely right
I don't think Nightmare on Elm Street is the most disappointing licensed chapter, but it is definitely the license which suffered the most throughout the years.
When the chapter first released, all the way back in October of 2017, it was pretty good. Freddy's power was unique and really accurate to the remake, Quentin (despite the goblin memes) was meant to look sleep-deprived and had the iconic Freddy's claw marks in his P3 skin, and there was only one Badham map, the problematic variants didn't exist.
But after all of the changes to Freddy, Quentin and Badham the chapter is just not the same gem it used to be. I doubt Quentin and Badham will get better anytime soon, but there definitely is hope for Freddy. He will receive changes at some point in the nearby future, after all.
(Please BHVR give Freddy some actual love, I've doing this for over five years)
-
To be fair, this was inevitable.
The Unknown feels like wasted potential, considering the hype and expectations for this chapter after all those teasers dropped, while Sable was perfect from the start.
-
Ruin? It will be one of the best licensed content we have ever had!
Well, at least that is what I hope. I've been a fan of the FNAF franchise since the first game was released.
-
I did it a while ago, but I would say my tier list is still accurate:
Good were the days when most killers I dislike did not exist.

What do the Freddy main community want from Freddie the most? Completely new power/rework or tweaks to number for existing ones?
Everyone agrees that we need an actual rework, as tweaks to numbers wouldn't be enough and it wouldn't fix his problems.
But we don't always agree on what exactly should be done. Personally I want his original power with some QoL improvements, but others have suggested entirely new ideas.

This was just test and they will add more killers/classes and maps next time. But I find it also enjoyable there is not any unfun killers from 1vs4. Imagine your facing skull merchant and knight...
I like both of them, to be honest. I wouldn't mind.

The game was so much more fun back in the days. I really loved this game as I started, but it feels like it gets worse with each update. I really miss old dead hard, which gave you a short jump/sprint forward without the endurance.
At the moment it feels very frustrating to play survivor and I can‘t even play killer, because the que times are constantly over 5min.
"The game was so much more fun back in the days."
I agree completely, my friend. I really miss how DBD used to be.
-
@TWS001 said:
Definitely good that they have experimented with this. Was fun to begin with. But now it's just killers either shooting across the map to interrupt the uncaging with Billy or Wraith or if they're playing together their team mate does it by staying on opposite sides of the map. Played a Billy/Wraith combo where it was practicallu impossible to get an unhook without the other killer showing up.
If its not that, it's getting old very quickly facing huntress in 9 out of 10 games. The mode needs more variety to make it viable long term. How they do that, I'm not sure.
There has to be less people playing it now, it was taking a good while for some of my survivor lobbies to fill up this afternoon. As I said good that they've experimented with this though.
"The mode needs more variety to make it viable long term."
This.
I really liked 2v8, I think it was fun and something that DBD really needed, but the lack of killer variety is pretty bad. I honestly think they should have delayed it until every killer was playable.
-
Lightborn easily solves your problem.
-
It is what I've been saying for years.
The map reworks should have never been done. Mostly because of the visuals, as they were an integral aspect of DBD's identity, and removing them is like removing Cuphead's unique style and giving that game modern graphics. It doesn't work.
And second, the balance. Rancid Abattoir used to be a good map for survivors and now there is literally nothing to work with. It is just one giant deadzone. And I don't even want to mention maps like Haddonfield or The Game.
It is a tragic tale, no doubt. Obviously none of us could expect DBD to remain a static game without any changes, but some things should have been left the way they were.
-
My favorite characters have always been Claudette and Freddy, but surprisingly I think Sable did manage to replace Claudette as my favorite survivor.
-
And here I thought it was finally our time to shine, my friend.
-
Sad to see that Freddy still isn't in the roadmap. When the AMA said Freddy had an update planned soon, I thought that meant the next dev update, or the next roadmap for that matter.
But then again, I've already waited 5 years for something amazing to happen to Freddy. I can wait a few more months.
It is what it is.
-
Very good change.
-
Mood.
8 survivors in the map and no one goes for the save.
-
Wesker.
Horrible design that should have never been added to the game.
-

I still do not understand how a bug like this even happens without anybody noticing before releasing the update, you'd think if they're charging 10$+ for skins at least the game would be decent quality and polished, but no. Sadly it seems that this game is following the Apex Legends route, milk money from cosmetics while neglecting the gameplay.
I still do not understand how a bug like this even happens without anybody noticing before releasing the update
Who knows?
Remember Twins' release? That update basically broke the entire game and it was still approved and released to live servers.
-
To be fair, setting a bad precedent for future reworks has already been done, thanks to Freddy in 2019. A character that had players who loved him was deleted from existence, and it doesn't get worse than that.
But I agree with ya here. The changes Knight received weren't good.
-
Wesker.
Horrible, unhealthy kit with way too much in it. His somewhat recent nerf made him a bit more bearable, but he is still one of the few killers I'd be happy to never see again.
-
It is really, really bad.
Perhaps nothing was learned from the time BHVR made changes to a perfectly functional UI that had been in the game for years without a single complaint about it, because they just did the same thing again and it looks awful.
-
Worse than Twins release? I'll be very surprised if that is the case.
