No, I don't think so.
Tunneling is, and always has been, a strategy. An annoying and looked down upon strategy, but a strategy nonetheless. And, just like every single strategy, is completely optional.
Tunneling has never been caused by Survivors. It is up to the killer to decide whether or not he will tunnel, keeping in mind the situations where tunneling is the only possible move in order to win.
The only situation where tunneling is caused by Survivors is when they make the mistake of refusing to leave a dangerous area, or things like trying to fix a generator you are actively defending.
Outside of those situations, no. Tunneling is 100% within the killer's control.
Staying in a "dangerous area" could easily be defined as "killer came back to the hook and you were there". Running, in that case, is generally not a good idea.

It sounds like I should have included a tutorial on how to accept responsibility for one's own actions.

In case anyone is wondering the video opens with them standing over a Bunny Feng:tm: who's been mori'd with the caption "i hate cute" just to give you an idea of the high quality we're dealing with here. That's as far into the video I could be asked to go.
Pro tip: when you're making an argument on a text-based Forum, write out the argument.
Nah, video speaks volumes but I'll give you a clue. Ms. piggy stands by a hooker survivor, looking out to the possibility of approaching survivors. When one is spotted, she then swings at the air as though to say, come unhook her, so I can rehook her. Watch how (or don't) how many times she Is obliged.
-
Not much of a counter argument there, pal.
-
Public shaming hasn't run it's due course yet.
-
Camp/tunnel success is largely due to survivors being boneheads. The degree of success early on with this will fade as MMR goes higher.
-
Meh, so much lack of ability (willingness) to adapt in this community. 4 v 1 will always be hard to balance but I think much of the problem is in the community, including killers. I'm a believer in minimal tinkering and folks learning to adapt. 2 escapes every game facilitated by a handful of EZ mode perks (both sides) is not really a challenge.
I can agree though, tunneling/camping should not be a formula for easy wins, nor should mics. Those two things being nerfed or solo players brought to the level of swf with far less incentive and viability for killer bad behavior, are what will make the game truly great.
Edit-the game is already great...I should have said greater...or something.

I play both sides, and this was true for a few days. Now i am escaping probably 50% of my games or more when my team doesn't DC or intentionally give up.
Wow, I will have to see tonight. I still think 50% is too much though.

Sounds like we need to nerf tunnelling, huh?
By buffing killers, yes. Most of the tunneling is due to overpowered mic players. Stronger killers will eventually make it so tunneling is unnecessary, although some will never get it as they play exclusively to make people mad.

The reason the kill rates were so low was that survivor was busted for 6 long years.
Last time stats were released, kill rate was at 55%. The time before that, 68%.
Very low kill rates, yes.
Mostly due to tunneling, no doubt. Nerfing killers creates more tunneling.
-
I play both sides and have close to 6000 hours. I kept track of my last 50 games rolling solo survivor. I escaped 2 out of 50. Not a euphoric feeling but I was tunneled much less and actually enjoyed the games. I am of the opinion that this being a horror game (it just is), that escape should be a rare event. It also made me ease up on the sweat when playing as killer. I am merciful when I can tell survivors are struggling or they don't often escape. I love the new patch but i am deathly afraid of what is going to happen to nurse.

r.i.p. bully simulator

5 years later, still loving the game but if I ever quit loving it, it will be the camp/tunnel extraordinaires that run me off. Yes, I understand the necessity of it but I will never succumb when playing killer.

Bad faith comments like your first phrase are honestly shameful and shouldnt be allowed on these forums.
Anything less than a knee-jerk reaction of unbridled enthusiasm is a grave travesty and deeply indicative of wrongthink. Let's be honest here, this is more about controlling thoughts and words for the sake of changing voting demographics.

I played a game of nurse (I'm on ps4, against a 4 man PC squad. Judging by their behavior, that is. After 5 years, you can kind of tell. There are some on PC, for whatever reason, that cannot be hit by the killer in such a scenario. They were already attuned to this information and were "trolling" right from the start. I managed one hook by hitting someone who was healing (standing still).
So, I got bored. I basically tried boosting with them and it looked like a scene from "the office". They all four stood there and stared at me. (I was under a pallet hitting it, I had someone on my shoulder. Hooks were dropping the whole game, so that part was over). Essentially, the message was "get mad or no deal".

I'm sure there has only been like 1 or 2 bots that have actually played. The community overreacting as usual. Just wait a week and then people will be complaining about Dead Hard again.
I've seen it 3 times in 2 nights and I am doubtless far removed from "so great" mmr.
-
"the killer can not be four places at once."-tru3ta1ent
-
Only "Jess and the ancient ones"-impossible to turn off.
-
I love low mmr...less chance of successful tunnelers and 4 man swf. At least able to play the game. You can still pip and make bp off randos as teammates. Just do gens and harvest then when they get caught. There are ways to facilitate them being found.
-
Enjoy it. Cue up and strap in. Been 6 years... ain't going nowhere.
-
It would be a joy to play 4 man survivor against him. Is that too self-aware? I'm not sayin' but I really am just sayin'.
-
I haven't for a couple weeks as nurse on ps4 is better than as of her return. What are the hag bugs?
-
Two of my favorite killers are hag (I don't traps hooks) and nurse. They don't struggle but you're right, some of the other killers are heavily reliant on survivor mishaps on some of these maps...or they tunnel like a mother and end up getting killers nerfed more.
-
I have seen some lag but PC survivors move different. I have p3'd the nurse on two accounts and have yet to see a ps4/5 survivor vault a pallet before I blinked to the other side of it. Not all PC survivors do that either. When my mmr goes up, I see them in four man groups. They are unhittable. Often, the whole game, unless they stop and heal.

The solution is simple.
You really believe she is OP? Show us. Take her for a spin. Play her and start winning most of your games ...
Or more realistically, get quickly stomped by good survivors who put up the work to learn how to counter a Nurse.
Learn what they do (beside clicking, laughing at you and tea-bagging you) and try to do the same.
Hint to improve : throwing a tantrum isn't the answer.
Verified as truth. PC survivors decimate us ps4 nurses. They move in a way that makes it impossible to hit them.
-
Perhaps, I don't aspire for high mmr and try to avoid it. Meh, I will admit you are correct but... survivors outnumber killers.
-
That Leatherface....impressive abilities...said no one ever.
-
I am a believer that the game is what it is. Some maps favor killer, some favor survivor. That is balance. Some good perks, some meta, some meme. I think it is incumbent on the players to adapt.

Blight needs nerf before that.
As for Nurse, most of the playerbase can't play her well yet, but eventually she will be nerfed.
6 years later, then it begins?
-
By no means representative of wonderful gameplay. Simply, some ideas to combat the nurse in dead by daylight. It can be done. Made in reaction to all the calls on the official forum to delete/nerf her
if i can do it...anyone can.
-
I.e.-tunneling baddies have only themselves to blame for killer nerfs.
-
Probable?
-
True but then again...they all are anymore. Do devs take this into account before nerfing killers? That their kill rate is high because they down people that immediately unhooked in front of them?
-

While I agree, he had quite high killrate according to latest stats 58%, so probably will stay as it is
He's a tunnel monster.

I'm curious as to what everyone's idea of tunneling is exactly?
No matter what it is defined as, I'm sure killers can rationalize how they don't do it.
I define it as not hooking the same person in 30 seconds.
-
Capable of use every 40 seconds and even then you have to "walk it off". Really?
-
Amazing, how few are willing to adapt their play style to better combat the opponent. Just like the Twitter mob...you can't feed them as they are never full.
Seriously, how long has this been going on? Plenty of streamers demonstrate how to counter every killer.

Yes, trying to annoy someone IRL to put them on tilt a videogame can certainly work.
That isn't the question at hand. All sorts of things 'work' to give you an advantage in a game.
The question is - why would we want to encourage this, and is it healthy for the game as a whole?
Yes, just like tunneling.
-
Is it possible...that "over performing" killers are being nerfed because they are tunnel-monsters? More nerfs make for more tunneling, yes? It is the most popular style of gameplay. Granted, that is now the only way to win with some killers but I always go for 12 hooks because it is more fun and moreso the implementation of actual skill.
When mmr goes up, the blight and nurse are my only refuge. Even then, one person will almost always quit. There is no valor in pounding the heads in of a squad of 3 as they are essentially doomed.

I’m with you OP.
It is a step in the right direction in terms of the “creepy” factor.
I love her map pressure abilities and how you can totally mess with someone during a chase who thought she was still behind when in fact you teleported.
I am a Michael main but she is easily starting to become a top favorite of mine. She has what I wish Michael had more of.
Zactly, I love her crazy in and out phasing and jump scare ability. I don't care about steamrolling people, I just want to play the game and for me, she makes it fun.
-
I'm enjoying her a great deal.
-
Stop trying to stay alive.
-
I remember a time when players would actually learn counters instead of wanting to be spoon fed. As described above, there are counters..
-
She is a killer that people must invest a lot of time into to be actually good. Unless you're on console, then buy a PC. So, there is no great pandemic of nurses.
-
It's not a cheat. Check Twitter. It's a bug.
-
I'm sorry but there needs to be a "go to" for people fed up with swf that doesn't include camp/tunnel skill monsters. Besides, it takes a long time to get good with her.
