Frankly, people just need to accept that these things exist and take them on the chin when it's their turn to have a bad game.
You have no control over what other people do in a game - there's no point in getting your blood pressure up over it. If you can't handle getting tunneled or looped, don't log in.
PERIOD.
-
I kinda missed the days where you felt like a killer broke some part of the survivor game.
Myers forces survivors to be vigilant and look around
Doctor deletes stealth
Nurse - What's a pallet?
Trapper - Yes, please look behind you at me as I herd you toward traps.
Ect.
Freakin' Ghost face is like the old Wraith - he just has this loud noise that screams HEY GUISE I AM OVER HERE, COME JUKE ME!
-
Eh, anybody who uses information gathering perks to avoid killers would probably be fine against this
But why would anybody do that when they can run 4 out of the dozen of 2nd chance perks they can run instead, amiright?
-
I don't like the headbob thing she does when stunned - makes her unfun for me to play.
I understand why it's there and I'm not asking for it to be changed - she's just not for me.
-
the tone that plays when you are being stared at is flippin' stupid and shouldn't of even been added.
-
They can't yet as Solo players aren't receiving the same amount of information as an SWF team.
You want to know why they are adding little things like Hex indicators and the moving talens around the obsession when they are chased? It's the devs attempt to start feeding the solo player the same level of information an SWF has.
They're doing this so they can be free to start balancing the game with that level of information in mind. They've been doing this for a long time now. It's just taking a very long time because that's how these devs roll - very slowly.
-
Count me in as somebody who would not complain if the perk levels were just removed entirely. Anotherwords, I don't need to find a perk 3X to get it at full strength - just purchase it once at it's full strength power.
We've got way too many perks in this game to try and grind out all their levels.
-
This actually gives me an idea for Monsterous shrine.
-
I stopped caring about emblems because
- I realized the sheer number of disconnects actually is killing my emblems
- I did a game where I never got downed, lost the killer several times through 4 generators, helped with another generator, nobody got hooked, obsession got rancored - and yet I only safety pipped for some reason.... AT RANK 16 (seriously #########)
- I can wipe an entire team in a matter of minutes and not even safety pip. FFS, if I kill a team that fast, shouldn't you be ranking me past those losers so I don't wipe the floor with them again?
At this point, I just started kicking it old school and going for kills as a killer, and points as a survivor. This emblem system was serviceable before - it's now completely pointless.
-
Eh, Dauntless is fun. I also play a lot of FFXIV and WWZ.
So I have plenty of other stuff to do.
-
Obsession perks typically don't start you with power, it's power you have to earn. So I'm opposed to allowing the perk to give power immediately as it doesn't fit with how an obsession perk works.
Adding to the killer's baseline speed is an incredible advantage in and of itself, so starting the perk with that advantage is an automatic no-go in my book.
Perhaps we can change the criteria for triggering the token? Perhaps the token triggers the moment the chase initiates the moment the "obsession tone" plays? With a long enough cooldown, this can prevent the perk from building tokens quickly and encourage the killer to chase somebody else. This still fits the theme of revealing yourself to your obsession only to move on to a different target. This still gives the perk some counterplay as obsessions can still attempt the stealth game to prevent the perk from triggering.
So to explain - you find your obsession, the tone plays, chase music starts - you immediately got a token - the perk goes on immediate cooldown with a long enough duration to prevent immediate building of 3 tokens just like the original version of the perk. Killer is still able to play optimally by immediately moving to a different target.
-
Another way is to make it work in your favor by running "Save The Best For Last"
You really really want to hit your obsession, but don't want to lose those fat stacks you got? Just tunnel somebody and hope you get DS'd, it will switch your obsession and free you up to go smack a #########.
BTW, I've had DS completely switch a target on me when running Rancor, which was good, as my original Rancor target DC'd like a baby when they realized I was running it.
-
Hell, just the Nvidia control panel by itself will let you override your monitor brightness. Had to do it for mine as it had a tendency to dim automatically whenever I got into darker areas. Freakin annoying.
-
If the speed boost is too much, then by all means I'm open to lowering it even further. I used the NOED speeds as a baseline because I knew straight up that the current speeds would be too much. And I'm most certainly open to the idea of raising the cooldown on PWYF stacks even more in exchange for the permanent boost
Keep in mind that counterplay is completely in the Obsession's hands and can force a killer to lose stacks if needed.
-
The reworked predator is more for newbies, just like the current Unrelenting. It's something you slot when your new and you eventually let go of. Both are fine as training wheels perks and should be left alone.
The suggestion for Remember Me making the last survivor the obsession is actually pretty damn good, I like it.
Spies From The Shadows - I actually thought of this idea earlier today, seems other are on the same brainwave.
I'll add my own - I'd rework "Play With Your Food"
- Tokens give less speed than they currently do
- You cannot get bloodlust while running the perk
- Tokens are NOT lost if you hit any survivor other than the obsession. Hitting obsession drops a token.
I'm actually thinking of making this it's own thread eventually.
-
T-bagging is really not that big of a deal. I myself deal with it by looking down when I'm slapping people out the exit. It denies them the satisfaction of knowing I saw and I get them out of the arena.
Slapping the hooked person doesn't bother me as it just announces to the entire survivor team that
1) the killer is pissed off and potentially tilted - increase the pressure
or
2) the killer is camping, proceed with the generator rush.
You can't change how people act, but you can change how you react to them.
-
I don't find post chat toxic - I find it entertaining.
Such as the teams I destroy calling me legitimately trash.
If I'm so trash, why are you all dead?
-
<-- thinks open-handed is fine and already uses it with Bond
Botany - Keep current effects but your medkits uses charges slower.
Play With Your Food - Reduce the speed increase per token, you can't get bloodlust while you have the perk, tokens can't be lost when hitting non-obsession, you only lose a token if you hit your obsession.
Spies From the Shadows - change the indicator to be a 1, 2, or 3 second aura depending on the level of the perk.
-
Personally, I blame the "Let's have fun" crowd not playing ruthlessly enough and thus allowing people who have no business ranking up to rank up.

@NuclearBurrito you still miss the point. The question is what each person considers a win. Those who play casual don't care about escaping or 4ks. Most who play are casual.
You are clearly someone who needs to have a clear victory and competition in order to put value to the experience. Most play games just for fun. Play....games...
Seriously, you put victory at Mario kart as the goal for playing? You should get out more. I don't know anyone who really cares about winning over just having fun in most of those games.
I'm more concerned why it bothers you so badly that somebodies view of what a win is differs from yours so much.
Why should it matter?
-
I believe it's only a matter of time before those who own Jason will come around and let him be in the game. This game isn't going away anytime soon, despite what the doomsayers would have you believe.
I've been asking for a dollmaker/puppetmaster type killer for a long time as it fits into one of my own personal fears, and I've suggested a couple variants to it in the past. If we can't get Chucky, I'd settle for dolls or puppets that cling to my back or spy on me for the killer.
There's been more than one time that we've for a DBD version of Samara (The Ring) or Alma Wade (F.E.A.R.). At one time I hoped the Spirit would fit that vibe - but it's not quite right (The Spirit is a damn fine killer Aesthetically though, don't get me wrong)
-
I used to play to the game conditions (PIP = win), but the emblem system is so screwed up right now I can't do that anymore.
So now I kick it old school and go for the kill by any means (2 is the minimum, but I won't hestitate to wipe a team out at 4k if the opportunity presents itself) . For survivors, as long as I break 12k I'm happy.
-
I think a lot of it is because certain people who should remained unnamed were allowed to run rampant as toxic streamers for too long. So all the kids think it's "cool" now.
It doesn't help that the community is absurdly toxic as well - so I suppose you could say the streamers are just a reflection of the community at large.
But still - if it had been me - those I deem as a "Bad influence" would of been removed a long time ago. They might be giving free advertising - but there's just certain elements I wouldn't want representing my community.

Isn't thrill of the hunt bad since it encourages survivors to find all the totems? You won't get the chance to use NOED and other perks in that regard.
it could be argued that those hunting totems are not doing gens. so it's a game delaying perk much like Ruin is. they just get found too easy.
-
Fair enough. It probably wouldn't be the level I'd personally pick - I would of gone huntress myself who is a step below Billy IMO
-
I hope you mean viable but not 100% balanced
Power should come with skill, which is part of what makes Nurse so brilliant. Killer's that are easy to use and have a low skill ceiling like Bubba should not be just as powerful.
-
there is a slew of survivors that disconnect now as there's no penalty. And there's some here on the forum that admit they're going to disconnect anytime a secret black offering comes because they'll assume it's a mori
It's pretty sad really. I just had a game where I decided to put up with an obvious SWF AND a last minute item switcher, manage to destroy the team anyway, then get called trash anyway.
This community man - not enough is done to address this pathetically weak and toxic community. Love the game to death, can't stand the players.
-
I support both the BBQ and WGLF ideas

Some killers are simply out to destroy any fun a survivor has, just like some survivors are out to destroy killer's fun. Did you know there are many killers that will go out of their way to be toxic to anyone with a ttv in their name?
The difference is a killer gets to dodge lobbies.
I can confirm this actually. Back when I streamed I would get a lot more aggressive killers if I had TTV in my name

I'm thinking the new MOM will go well with We're Gonna Farm Forever, erm, I mean We're Gonnal Live Forever.

employing tunneling is to acknowledge the truth that you can not down survivors a second time without it. if you enjoy looking bad, have at it. killers that do such garner no respect from me.
Good thing my concern is my points, not your respect then

I sometimes people take the altruisim thing too far. You have to look out for number 1 SOMETIMES
-
"Though let me ask you this, 2 years ago when there wasn't any Emblem system to punish hook farming, hook camping, etc. What would you argue then?"
Depends on the state of the game, although I'd be more inclined to go after the guy doing the stupid rescue in that case. Ironically, with the point and emblem changes, I'll almost always go for the "Tunnel" now on a unsafe unhook to punish the rescuer. When it happens to me, my anger is always directed at the rescuer, not the killer.
Back to mental shackles or imaginary rules....
To you folks - Look, I get it, I used to be just like you. Angry when people didn't play fair. It made it a miserable slog to play ANYTHING. It wasn't this game exactly, it was back when Battlefield Bad Company 2 was a thing and the Carl Gustov was looked at as "cheap".
But one day I read something that freed my thinking, and I stopped caring. I started using the CG until I got bored with and moved on. When others used it, I was no longer angry.
I've been like this for years now - just accepting "Everything that is not a hack or an obvious exploit is fair play" has made the hobby enjoyable again.
You have no control over how others play, only yourself. Getting angry because people don't play your way is just a waste of energy.
If your the least bit curious what changed my opinion, here it is. Some of you I suspect already know it and either live it or despise it. http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/introducingthe-scrub

It really is just a case by case thing, same to an extent with tunneling. It can be very frustrating when done out of ignorance or to be a dick but there are times where a killer is justified to. I’d say in lower ranked games it’s a lot more common to run into those killers who are camping because they’re bad or mad tho.
I'd say it's more likely they just don't know better and survivors aren't punishing the behavior properly at that rank.

Again, saying tunneling is or isn't disrespect is a subjective topic. You are showing you don't know what that means.
It means, it comes down to an opinion. And you are just blatantly disregarding mine because of your own. So yes, you are incapable of a real discussion.
I think tunneling is disrespectful because it's usually in situations where the Survivor is completely helpless and immobile. I.e immediately after an unhook, from the basement, etc. There are other players in the game, and people seem to forget that. So do I think it's disrespectful to take advantage of a player that by no means has the ability to counter play in certain situations? A teammate farms me, I play solo, and the Killer instead of going for the unhooker who could've been easily more punished, decides to go for the easier path and immediately downs me once the unhook animation is done. Yes. Are we all going to agree upon that opinion? No, because it's an opinion. A subjective one.
Do I think it's a dick move to follow a Survivor around for 5 generators, never give up, ignore other Survivors mid chase just because they want that Survivor dead? Of course, there are other players in the game, again. Is that another subjective opinion? Of course.
Do I want to play with someone who's a complete dick in the game? No, why would I? It's unfun. Not that it'll stop me from playing, but when it happens a few times in a row I'm obviously going to take a break from the game and play something else more enjoyable. It's like talking to someone who is just calling you rude names during a conversation. Why would I continue to talk to you if you're rude? It's unenjoyable.
Your assumptions of how I act ingame without any evidence showing of how I do is irritating and your lack of real discussions is more evident than you'd like to see.
You seem to disregard the part where I said, go ahead and tunnel and camp your way to victory. My subjective opinion is not supposed to change how anyone plays. And I will not continue any further discussion until you understand that.
As for the Smash Bros analogy, it really isn't the same. I don't understand how picking a top tier character against a bottom tier is equivalent to tunneling and camping because Smash Bros requires skill at any level of play regardless of Top Tiers or Bottom Tiers. We all know watching your first hook die or just farming someone off of their hooks isn't skill. It's just an easy way to secure kills, which I'll say one more ######### time, is allowed and I have no problem with them doing so. I'm allowed to think it's disrespectful to do so, and the OP asked for opinions.
Brady, do you understand how scoring works? I'm going to assume you don't and break it down for you.
When you rescue somebody, you get 1k points. You get another 500 if they stay alive 10 seconds.
Additionally, the entire survivor team loses one benevolence level when somebody is hooked, and get it back if they are unhooked. The person who does the actual unhooking gets TWO benevolence levels for the unhook, but they LOSE two levels if the person is downed in less than 10 seconds.
To me, it seems more disrespectful to the person getting farmed by not taking the opportunity to punish the rescuer by denying them this rank and 1/3 of their potential bloodpoints.
Just letting the victim go free only encourages the behavior.
-
So in a nutshell... you don't want a tunnel? TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR RESCUES
That means
- The rescuer should be ready to throw themselves in the killer's way if they miscalculate and the killer is nearby.
- The victim needs to be ready to make themselves scarce and disappear. Because if bleeding prey runs out in front of a hungry wolf, it's going to be the wolves nature to bite you.
Anotherwords, GET GOOD
-
Let me be clear on something - tunneling is not something I seek out and do. I prefer to leave the hook and find somebody else to chase.
BUT - if another survivor has so little respect for his teammate as to do an unsafe hook, you bet I'm going to punish his behavior with the tunnel because it destroys the rescuers score, puts me in a better position, and teaches the team I'm not going to tolerate it.
I would like nothing more than to walk away from a hook and chase somebody else. But if you don't let me walk more than 10 steps away, that ######### tunnel is going to happen - don't be a braindead idiot who rescues in such a stupid manner!
it takes 2 minutes for somebody to fully die on a hook, that's 1 minute per stage. You have PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE SURE THE COAST IS CLEAR.
This is why I referred to somebody above as sheep - because only a sheep mindlessly walks to the slaughter and takes his teammate with him with such stupid and brain-dead moves.
-
LOL, Wierdkid is far from a casual.

Since when was this ever a thing?
I'd like gameplay footage. If you were hugging a wall, you'd have to reposition yourself out of it or you would get a medium vault.
Please, I'd like gameplay footage.
Actually, in the first year we had no medium vault. Only fast vault and slow vault. Fast vault didn't require any run-up. Just hold shift. You only did slow vaults to not make noise.
-
LOL, I was using this trick long before other people picked up on it.
Players will adjust, like they always have.

I'm glad it's fixed - it was kinda amateurish it stayed as long as it did to be honest.

I wonder how many gallons of sweat you produce after a match. Holy Jeez, the amount of sweat reeking from your statement.
Ah yes, "Sweaty" is the new term you kids are using for "Try Hard" I guess?
Let me clue you in on a very old proverb
"If you aren't playing to win, why keep score?"

And people like you is why I thank the Devs they haven't introduced Rank Rewards. Desperation in killers like yourself will add to that toxicity that's already plaguing this game because you obviously do not care for the health state of the game in regards to viewing it from both sides.
And I'm glad you're not in charge or we'll all be getting participation ribbons like you did in kiddie soccer!

And in situations like these (which I hope are rare) some survivors will get boned.
Which sucks, but that blade cuts both ways.

Tunneling is a sheer act of desperation and selfishness by the killer who have no consideration for the health of the game.
I'm honestly not surprised by the amount of positivity when it comes to tunneling and the amount of people who want the DS Perk nerfed. There is no middle ground when it comes to these subjects because you all start throwing the "Well, if survivors can, killer should" argument and no one wants to be the bigger person and start giving everyone a fair chance and give this game a healthy feel to it.
Sad.
I think it's even more pathetic that the playerbase has been filled to the brim with weak and spineless sheep that that shackle themselves with such meaningless rules and convention.
Here's the thing - like it or not, every game we're ranked and judged. You might call it it meaningless and that's your choice. But how you feel about it has no bearing on the fact we're still judged by the system.
Some people play to that system and will do what it takes to rank. Deal with it.

If the generator teleport goes live, discordance will be must-have on Freddy. I can also see some use with Tinkerer.

Because you don't consider the other side.
The enjoyment of my opponant's game is the last thing on my mind. I'm not one to mentally shackle myself with social pressure and made up rules. I realize that many view me as a dick for this. But ultimately in the grand scheme of the universe - how anybody views me is meaningless.
Because victory is all that matters. Just be happy that I'm one of the better killers that understands how spreading the pain slows the game down.
-
I don't do it specifically unless I feel I'm starting to get behind or the survivors are being really flipping stupid with unsafe rescues as I hate unsafe rescues when I'm a survivor. Remember, safe rescue is only when the person hooked is off the hook 10 seconds. When you get an unsafe rescue, the rescuer is denied 500 points and they LOSE benevolance overall for the careless unhoook. So you bet your ass I'm going to take every opportunity to discourage that behavior.
I don't typically tunnel though. At the most I'll down the rescued person to deny the points but start chasing the idiot who did the bad rescue as that will buy me some time.
-
Camping is a terrible idea against a team that knows what they are doing and punishes the tactic by gen rushing.
But if all the survivors come to the hook and the killer knows they are - the killer has no logical reason to leave at that point as nobody is doing gens.
If survivors don't pressure the killer to leave by popping gens, it's not the killer's fault.
-
Meh, looks annoying to me. As somebody pushing 50, I prefer DbD's pace.
