Fixes for bad Killer perks
And now for the Killer version of my other post
Predator
Current:
- Scratch Marks left by Survivors will spawn slightly/moderately/considerably closer together
Fixed:
- Scratch Marks left by Survivors will spawn considerably closer together and last 1/2/3 seconds longer
Right now the perk does basically nothing if you are good at tracking. This gives it a legitimate purpose for someone to run.
Tinkerer
Current:
- When a Generator is repaired at 85%, you receive a noise notification and your Terror Radius is reduced to 0 metres for 8/10/12 seconds.
Fixed:
- When a Generator is repaired at 75%, you receive a noise notification and your Terror Radius is reduced to 0 metres for 10/15/20 seconds.
12 seconds just isn't enough time to get the jump on a Survivor and the noise notification is too late to do anything about for most Killers. 8 extra seconds and 10% less repair time before it triggers should be enough to mostly fix both problems without being drastic enough to make the perk OP.
Stridor
Current:
- Breathing of Survivors in pain is 25/50/50 % louder and regular breathing is 0/0/25% louder
Fixed:
- All noises made by survivors can be heard from 30/40/50% further away.
Footsteps? Louder and can hear them from further away. Getting in a locker? I hear you. Uninjured but still breathing? 25% less quiet then without this change. Fall from a height? I hear that too. This stacks with perks like surveillance.
Thanataphobia
Current:
- For each injured, dying or hooked Survivor, all Survivors receive an action speed penalty of 3/3.5/4% to a maximum of 12/14/16%
Fixed:
- For each injured, dying or hooked Survivor, all Survivors receive a penalty of 4/5/6% to unhooking, repairing, sabotaging, chests, exit gates, vaulting and cleansing up to a maximum of 16/20/24%
Notice the lack of healing on that list. Basically it's supposed to be a penalty of all actions besides healing, if I didn't list something then just know that it's supposed to be on there but I forgot. Not effecting healing should be enough to make it viable to have the significantly larger effect.
Play with your food
Current:
- Each offensive action spends one Token
Fixed:
- Each successful offensive action spends one Token.
Doesn't consume tokens if you miss. Therefor you won't accidentally waste them when playing as Huntress or something.
Beast of Pray
Current:
- The Red Stain disappears after gaining Bloodlust Tier I and stays hidden until you lose Bloodlust.
Fixed:
- The Red Stain disappears after gaining Bloodlust Tier I and stays hidden until you lose Bloodlust. You gain bloodlust 100% faster.
This means you would gain a tier of bloodlust every 7.5 seconds, this gives it a more applicable purpose while also making it's current purpose more applicable
Hex: Huntress lullaby
Current:
- Survivors receive a 2/4/6% regression penalty when missing any Skill Check.
Fixed:
- Survivors receive a 2/3/4% regression penalty per token when missing any Skill Check.
This means 2 things. 1 is that it gets FAR stronger the longer it isn't cleansed (up to 10/15/20% penalty) but also that it will take survivors longer to even know that the perk is there since they won't be told until after the first hook.
Knock out
Current:
- Dying Survivors' Auras are not revealed to other Survivors when they are standing outside of 32/24/16 metres of range.
Fixed:
- Dying Survivors' Auras are not revealed to other Survivors when they are standing outside of 32/24/16 metres of range and take 25% longer to heal or recover to full.
While SWF will always counter this perk somewhat, currently this perk does literally nothing against them. This will give it SOMETHING to help you slug against a SWF team.
Fire Up
Current
- For each Generator completed, gain a 3/3.5/4% stackable buff that grants a speed bonus to picking up, dropping, Pallet breaking, Generator damaging and vaulting for the remainder of the Trial.
Fixed:
- For each Generator completed, gain a 3/4/5% stackable buff that grants a speed bonus to picking up, dropping, Pallet breaking, Generator damaging, pallet stun recovery and vaulting for the remainder of the Trial.
The effect itself is fine. However the current numbers make it underwhelming even at max tokens. A 1% difference means it can at the very least match brutal strength at 4 tokens. Also stun recovery since the whole point is to be a jack of all trades at endgame buff. In case anyone is wondering it would be a 25% increase at 5 tokens and the stun recovery mentioned would mean that at that point the stun time would be 1.6 seconds down from 2 seconds, so enduring is obviously way better for anti-stun still. Stacked with enduring it would be 0.8 seconds.
Remember Me
Current:
- Each time you hit your Obsession, you increase the opening time of the Exit Gates by 4 seconds up to a maximum of 8/12/16 additional seconds.
Fixed:
- Each time you hit your Obsession gain a token up to a maximum of 4. When the exit gates are powered each token increases the opening time of the Exit Gates by 1/2/3 seconds per living survivor
Makes the time increase scale by the number of survivors left making it to it's job without especially screwing over the final survivor. Obsession would still be able to ignore it. Maximum gate opening time with this is (443+20) 68 seconds (pre-nerf it was 50). If the Killer manages to get for 4 tokens then the final survivor would be up against a 32 second timer (or in other words 12 extra seconds) Currently it would be 36 seconds for the final survivor in that situation.
Mad Grit
Current:
- While carrying a Survivor, you suffer no cool-down on missed attacks and successfully hitting another Survivor will pause the carried Survivor's wiggle timer for 2/3/4 seconds
Fixed:
- While carrying a Survivor, you suffer no cool-down on all attacks and successfully hitting another Survivor will pause the carried Survivor's wiggle timer for 2/3/4 seconds
Successful attacks won't have a cooldown either. I'm sure you'd be able to get cheeky downs form this perk. As it is now this perk is borderline useless.
Dark Devotion
Current:
- You become obsessed with one Survivor. Hitting the Obsession with your basic attack causes the Obsession to emit a Terror Radius of 32 metres for 20 seconds. During that time, your Terror Radius is reduced to 0 metres.
- This effect can only be triggered once every 60/45/30 seconds. The Obsession hears the Terror Radius they emit for the duration.
Fixed:
- You become obsessed with one Survivor. Hitting the Obsession with your basic attack causes the Obsession to emit a Terror Radius of 32 metres for 20/25/30 seconds. During that time, your Terror Radius is reduced to 0 metres.
- The Obsession hears the Terror Radius they emit for the duration.
Spies from the shadows
Current:
- 100% of the time, cawing Crows give you a visual cue when you are within a range of 20/28/36 metres.
Fixed:
- When a survivor within 32/40/48 meters of you scares a crow their aura is revealed to you for 3 seconds.
The perk now uses aura instead of a notification which means that A: survivors behind you aren't effected if you don't look, B: Distortion is triggered by it and C: You can actually tell where they are going despite the cooldown. Speaking of which the cooldown is still a thing here but now actually doesn't screw over the perk. Also the range is reverted and some outdated text is removed.
Unrelenting
Current:
- The cool-down of missed attacks is reduced by 20/25/30%.
Fixed:
- The cool-down of missed attacks or successful attacks on injured survivors is reduced by 30/40/50%.
Currently this perk is 100% useless unless you are a bad spirit. This doesn't allow for the machine gun build still but gives it 2 functions. A: It counters the perks Mettle of Man and Borrowed time somewhat because those 2 perks mean you can hit an injured survivor without downing them, B: It means you can slug more optimally if you are using perks such as infectious fright, and most importantly C: It allows you to quickly down a group of survivors if they are all injured beforehand. I imagine that Legion in particular could get a lot of use out of that.
Comments
Please state your thoughts and if there is anything else I should add. There are other useless Killer perks but either I couldn't come up with anything or the solution would be effectively scraping the perk for something else which is beyond the scope of this thread. (for example monstrous shrine)
Anyone?
No?
It would be easier to read and discuss if you would split this up in several threads, one perk per discussion or two at max. You'll probably get replies that way.
(That doesn't mean that you should open 15 threads now. You can do it over the course of several days.)
I honestly think this is too many perks for me to address right now.
Most of these changes seem fine. The only one I'd pick a bone about is Thanataphobia. I'd rather see
3/4/5% penalty to all actions per survivor. I'd also like to see it count dead/dced survivors.
This way the killer gets rewarded for doing their job efficiently, instead of incentivizing an inefficient playstyle (not killing people).
We meet again. Imma do it as the other time :3
Predator: Ye still dunno why the removed it.
Tinkerer: I feel like 10/12/15 seconds would be okay with the 75%.
Stridor: Could work? I would just change it to meters instead of % (as for example Technician has). Also would that stack with Survelience?
Thanathobia: Seems balanced.
PWYF: idk how to feel about this :/
Beast of Prey: No. This needs something else. Tempering with Bloodlust speed/charge time isn't a good idea.
Hex: Huntress Lullaby: This would really hurt new players BUT maybe 1/2/3% would be more okay-ish? But still paired with Overcharge this would be really REALLY good.
Knock Out: How 'bout they recover 10% slower but crawl x% slower? So the "brain damage" actually does something more.
Fire Up: Noice... i think
Remember Me: I still think the nerf was a mistake. They could've just made it "when there's only 1 survivor left they become the obsession"
Mad Grit: That would just be a little too good if survivors do decide to body block the hook.
Dark Devotion: Yep
Spies From the Shadows: No. Add more crows on some maps instead.
Unrelenting: Could be interesting.
Predator - Scratch marks lasting longer is actually a nerf to the killers using it. That isn't a good thing.
Make it increase the sound of survivor footsteps when running and walking on top of its current affect.
Thanata - Not include sacrificed survivors?
Play with your food - Would still be garbage after this change. Missed hits taking a token aren't what makes this a bad perk.
Beast of Pray - Needs to have nothing to do with Bloodlust. Bloodlust is an unreliable and bad feature in the first place.
Knock Out - Might be too strong on slug builds. It's already a good perk.
Remember Me- This change is making a bad perk even worse. This is a nerf.
Make it 8 seconds per token up to a max of 4 tokens. If there is only 1 person remaining in the trial the perk will not be active.
Everything else looks good to me.
The reworked predator is more for newbies, just like the current Unrelenting. It's something you slot when your new and you eventually let go of. Both are fine as training wheels perks and should be left alone.
The suggestion for Remember Me making the last survivor the obsession is actually pretty damn good, I like it.
Spies From The Shadows - I actually thought of this idea earlier today, seems other are on the same brainwave.
I'll add my own - I'd rework "Play With Your Food"
I'm actually thinking of making this it's own thread eventually.
@Blueberry how is the remember me change a nerf? The numbers are higher in every situation except a 1v1.
In the absolute best case scenario you are only getting 18 extra seconds and that isn't affecting if there's just 1 survivor left. That's pretty bad, especially given the more likely scenario is much less.
@Blueberry you must have misread the perk.
If you get 4 tokens then it's 12 seconds PER SURVIVOR.
And it's an instantaneous change so killing survivors once the endgame starts doesn't reduce the timer.
Ah well the wording is a little confusing.
In that case great idea, I like it.
@Blueberry any ideas on how to word it better?
And where did 18 seconds come from?
About PWYF, currently, you lose stacks for being stunned by a pallet. Its not listed on the description. I think (along with your suggestion) that should be changed.
Wait really? That's really dumb
I used to hope that these perks will be buffed, until dev said that "I'm all ears" is powerful.😂
