That's only between Steam and the Windows Store. Judging from the recent Player Satisfaction Survey, they are looking into the possibility of cross-platform play between PC and consoles, but it's not a reality yet.
Hmm I see, I... didn't even know we had a windows store for this game...

Thanks for the great answer, thats what i was thinking, tonight was pretty bad, me and my friend had a really hard time, but in the night... it seems better, still im down to 13 and just got a killer 9 and 3 survivor 8-9-9, that was a bit hard but i manage to escape, i take it as practice with better players. I manage to do gold-Gold-Silver-Gold. Im a bit surprise of my gold in boldness but i guess my looping is getting better lol
Is the reset from 1 to 10 not a bit crazy compare to 10 to 14, they are F close to my rank and be able to rank with me, like theses 8-9-9 that probably where in the purple or red rank and i have to play with them lol That kind of matchmaking could drive off some new players as some of my friend didnt bother try it further. I like the challenge and the learning curve so i keep up and endure the down and hooking lol
They're going to update the match making in the future, so don't be discouraged by it too much.
It'll get a lot better when it comes to being paired with your rank bracket, so that's good to know! I wish you good luck in your future matches!

This is normal? Doesn't this game have 3 different rank/ level systems.
Player level (or time spent playing), survivor rank, and killer rank?
Player level does nothing, it's just for show.
The only thing that's pairing you with Survivors of the same ranks is your Killer rank and vice versa. Sometimes, if you're queued for a long time than the match making will find Survivors that're higher up on the ranking to team you with... since either not many Survivors that're in your rank are playing, or they're in a match.
Think of it as a line to get food at a restaurant, if you're at the back of the line and there are people ahead of you that have waited longer... than you'll eventually get to the front of the line to order food.
That comparison may make it more confusing so... ignore it if it does.

How does that work when PC has dedicated servers and we don't?
I don't honestly know, but if it's in our options than it clearly exists...
I think the way it works is, if you're paired with a PC user with bad ping than the Killer will see his ping be red... since he's viewing it from how Dedicated Servers is connecting to him...
For the console Survivors, they'll instead have red ping as well since they're connecting to his ping like usual... other Survivors that're on PC will have green ping if their connection is good to the Dedicated Servers... since Dedicated Servers for PC users doesn't work off of the Killers ping anymore.
Basically, the console Survivor will have bad ping because the Killer has bad ping... but the PC Survivor will have green ping because their ping is good with Dedicated Servers... The only two people that have red ping is the Killer and the Survivor connecting through the Killers ping.
-
During rank reset a lot of the Killers/Survivors from ranks 1-4 or 5-7 are brought back down to ranks 10-15 or whatever ranks Green ranks are.
When this happens, it's common for the Survivors you face as a Killer in low ranks or the Killers you face as a Survivor in low ranks to be... over the top. And some of them are naturally like this at the high ranks.
Unfortunately, you'll face some people that like who're naturally... "toxic" if you will. But since they sit at Red and Purple ranks mostly, they won't be around there for more than a few days of rank reset. Why, it's already subsiding as we speak since it's the 2nd day of rank reset already... in a few more days everything will go back to normal.
They're probably getting mad at your play style because they're used to very aggressive teammates that grab the Killers attention constantly. You don't really see that many Red Rank or Purple Rank Survivors playing "immersed" or safe.
I'm not saying you're playing bad, it's just your play style of course. They're just used to... playing with Survivors that never do that.
-
You're being paired with people that were in Red and Purple Ranks during the last season... it's very common for you to get those players in your lower level matches.
These players don't belong in that rank bracket and are just trying to get back to their original rank. That's kind of what some of the Killers become "over the top" or what not... they're naturally this way in Red and Purple ranks OR they're just trying to get back to their original rank and don't want to sit at the low ranks.
Also, the issue with deranking is that it takes a long time to even do... if you constantly DC to derank than you could get banned for hitting the DC threshold. This is why deranking isn't as common as it used to be. But yes, sometimes players that're not supposed to be in the lower ranks will crop up in a match or two at the lower ranks...
it's important to know this
They're grinding to get back to their original rank like you said, so this won't last for more than a few days or at most a week... so you'll be fine once a few more days pass... or it probably is already subsiding!

Are you sure we have cross platform? I never saw Bills before he came to console and they asked about crossplay on the surveys..Not to mention PS4 does not have dedicated servers, so I don't see that being possible.
You can activate cross-platform in the settings on PC now.

I'd like to link you a video that will help you understand all the basic tiles that spawn on every map in DBD. This video will explain a lot of good details that will help you with even the non-basic tiles... due to repetition and "muscle memory" when you get used to it.
It's important that you learn every basic tile in the game before you even attempt to tackle the "advanced" or strong loops. If you don't know how to effective use for example, shack pallet. Than you'll only hinder your team. Mostly because someone else who does know how to use shack pallet could've used that loop to save your team a lot of time.
This video should brush up on what "tiles" even are and it'll give you a lot of good information.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6QYjInzLeM&t=17sAll credit goes to the youtuber of course.

1.) Well, most would consider PC to be the superior version due to the higher player count and the obvious advantage which is Keyboard and Mouse.
If you really want to switch to the main version that this game was first created on... than you'd have to buy all that DLC again and start all over. cross-progression is still an idea at the moment, and cross-play between consoles and PC isn't a thing yet either... so unless you wait patiently to see how this develops... than you'll have to start all over on PC and get all the DLC again.
It's honestly up to you, if you wait to see if console gets cross-platform and cross-progression... than you can play with PC users without issue and if you decide to switch to PC than you can! But right now, you cannot.
2.) Well, we have cross-platform already... so the idea of cross progression isn't out of the realm of possibility. Considering cross-platform gaming usually brings cross-progression with it... you can try and wait to see if it ever does happen. If it does, than you can switch without issue... but i'm not sure if the DLC will cross over.
Note, cross-play with PS4, Xbox, and PC isn't a reality yet. It's only for the windows store and steam at the moment... but like I said, if you wait than you can see what comes of this cross-play development... if you're lucky it'll let you play between both without issues of starting over!
3.) No, you need to own DBD to take part in the PTB on PC. That's how its always been... if you don't own the game than you can't access the beta private servers.
edit
The cross-play that currently exists is for the Steam and Windows store only, which... I didn't even know we had a windows store DBD... and I don't know why.
Anyways, the answers above have been updated to reflect this.

If you want that achievement than you'll have to do the follow.
You'll need Ruin, Play With Your Food to stack up speed boosts to catch Survivors in Tier lll, NOED to gain another speed boost if all generators are complete, and either Corrupt Intervention to aid with Ruin, or you can just go pure Ruin and use Brutal Strength, Bamboozle, or Blood Warden.
Brutal Strength helps you break all the pallets faster to avoid being looped around them... bamboozle removes the issue of the shack window or any windows that're too strong for Evil Incarnate Myers, or Blood Warden which gives you a 2nd chance during the EGC to kill any remaining Survivors.
Or, you can just rely on gen stopping perks like Ruin and use Corrupt Intervention as your 4th perk slot.
Those three would work honestly, so it's up to you to pick either of those 3 for the 4th perk slot.
-
I guess it's something they just left out.
They either forgot, it's in the works in the future, or it was just never considered for some reason.
-
You'll have to play around with the settings to make it looks any better than what you saw.
Ever since the low quality update with hair, things have been looking quite strange... especially... the hair. This is honestly the best thing I can tell you to do, it's just how it is.

Makes the perk a non camping perk, furtive chase sucks and being similar to fire up doesnt seem bad for me. There are not those many generator token based perks and this one seems just right for it.
True, it does keep it off the campers to-do list.

Why not make it token based and for each generator completed your terror radius is permanently reduced by X meters/%. If needed, an additional X meters/% when all generators are completed.
Very bad at the start but you start to shroud yourself and have a very little terror radius.
That seems too similar to Furtive Chase though...
I mean it could work but if we're talking originality than it's almost the same as Furtive Chase, except Furtive Chase relies on obsession hooks (Least it's supposed to...) while this Insidious suggestion relies on generators being done like Fire Up!

I find that chainsaw is great for directing a survivor around pallets to give them minimum time to run before breaking it. If they run early, chainsaw to them instead of the pallet... If they wanna run to the left, circle around til theyre on the right before bringing the saw on the pallet, so they have to cross over. The less time you give them to reach another pallet...the easier it is to use that chainsaw on THEM. Also the fact that you can instadown ppl makes it so you dont give them a speedboost to get out of dead zones.
The chainsaws are good for directing survivors, but the issue stems from the map pressure in-general... since he has basic M1 Killer mobility and is limited like all M1 Killers are at loops.

@NuclearBurrito said:
Personally I want it to be something that can actually be used while moving for surprise attacks. Insidious means to approach slowly so something that works well with that idea would be nice:
- When standing still get a token every second up to 2/3/4. Each token reduces your terror radius by 8 meters, reduces your movement speed by 2% and removes your red stain. 45 seconds after you've moved or when taking an offensive action you will lose all tokens.
That's a neat suggestion, anything that keeps them from literally standing for minutes is a bonus.

I don't have anything against Insidious in its current form. If somebody wants to meme Basement Leatherface, I can live with that. I see that happen so rarely that I don't get angry about it.
Besides the nerfs you suggested, I don't like the idea #2 because it would not give the killer a significant benefit, while at the same time causing the killer a huge problem should the survivor run OoO.
Understandable, but OoO is quite situational now which makes it not used a lot anymore.
The times between the Terror Radius drops can be bigger to counter this issue.

Than you've been giving him some good rep, the only thing I see when I face a leatherface during a few Survivor games is that they tend to monitor the hooks too much and if you're in the basement with a "proxy camper" LF, than it's a wrap for ya!

This sounds like a great idea, I would just save it for a new killer perk. Insidious can be bad if just used for basement camping but there are other ways to use it. If you want to rework a perk I would vote for monstrous shrine.

It's emblem based for the most part. It's determined by how well you do in-game, and as such you're rewarded for your gameplay.
It says here on the DBD wiki that it's also determined by the amount of time you've spent within the trail itself.
here's a quote from the wiki.
Experience points
Experience Points or XP are how one levels up their account. They are obtained after each trial and are calculated depending on the following factors:
- Time played in the trial (1 XP = ~1 second)
- Highest Emblem Quality
- 18 XP for obtaining at least 1 Iridescent Emblem
- 12 XP for obtaining at least 1 Gold Emblem
- 6 XP for obtaining at least 1 Silver Emblem
There is also a "First Game of the Day" bonus (300 XP), that can be obtained for either side for completing the first trial of the day.
interesting...
there are some things here that I wasn't even aware of, like a first game of the day bonus and what not.

I saw some Red ranks today anyways, either they have the same issue or they got there pretty fast somehow...
You'd have to play like the entire day every second to get back to Red Ranks, despite Red Ranks not being that hard to get to still... (In comparison to before the patch, it's a lot better than before... but it's still not that hard to get to.)

for sure, its the easy way to use it, which is why its used that way. With changes that promoted using it for surprising people at generators and removing its hook camping potential I believe it would be an excellent perk at all levels. Once survivors realize you have it they'd also waste time waiting at the generator to make sure you didn't insidious them.
Yes but still, the sheer fake it promotes this type of play-style is not good... it's very boring to camp people, at least it is to me. And if you're the one being camped than it ruins your gameplay as well.
Think about it from like, another perspective rather than the "mind-game potential" it brings.

I think it would be nice to keep the spirit of the perk, which is a TR perk. I really dont want a repeat of tinkerer, in which the perk we have now has nothing to do with its original version.
True, the original perk improved the add-ons you used, which was a good theme of the perk with its name sake.
But uh... instead it was changed to have nothing to do with the perk. My changes above for the overhaul section was going off of definitions of what "insidious" means, so it kind of works with what it's saying.
But that's why I also added buffs/nerfs below to compromise. Since a lot of people here agree that the perk should keep its stealth theme.
-
That can also work, if you have a set amount of time for 0 Terror Radius than it can be used in a chase or just standing still.
The activate ability button won't have to be subjected to just standing still.
-
@LordGlint said:
How about...
Standing still for 4/3/2 seconds gives the killer the undetectable status effect for 15 seconds, has a cooldown of 60 seconds.
The cooldown would prevent the perk from being used while camping, but also allow some nice sneakiness if you intend to approaching an area you suspect a survivor is at. Imagine working on a gen peacefully, only to hear the sudden sound of Bubba's chainsaw roaring around the corner.
That works.

@newduls said:
btw, @FireHazard I like the idea of perks that modify bloodlust. Though I don't know if it needs to be insidious. But in general more perks that modifyied the killers speed would be great.
Anything that increase the speed of the killer really impacts survivors ability to loop successfully because looping depends so much on learning how long it takes for a killer to catch up.
So something that reduced the time it takes to get into bloodlust.
Something that made it so blood lust lasts after you break a pallet.
Something that made it so you enter bloodlust when you go through a window.
Something that made it so you enter bloodlust when you break a pallet.
Etc. I think would all be very good additions.
Perhaps we should modify Beast of Pray with that Insidious idea.

@newduls said:
using insidious the camp hooked survivors is only the most obvious way to use it. Certainly not the most effective.
Walk past a gen that is being worked on but has no one on it and stop after you los it, but not too far away. Then wait till you hear the sound of it being worked on.
IMO, the need to change it so that once standing still the heart beat recedes to 0 over the course of 2 secs, as if you were walking away. Additionally it should hide all sounds of breathing, red stain(I believe it does that already), and any other sounds as long as you don't move. Personally, though I'm sure people would complain about it. I'd give it a 2 sec 5/10/15% speed boost coming out of it.
You should also be able to trigger powers from it with out making sounds.
Pig should be able to mask here roar from it.
Nurse should be able to charge her tp from it.
Freddy should be able to initiate teleports from it. Fake out blood on the gen you just past to scare the survivors off and hit them when they move toward you.
Huntress should be able to charge hatchets without breaking it.
Billy and leather face should have their chainsaw masked while standing still and charging it.
wraith should have his bell silenced.
clown charge bottles silently.
trapper set traps silently.
hag set traps silently.
In order to PREVENT hook camping I'd actually make it so insidious doesn't work at all within 20M of a hooked survivor.
IMO, this would make insidious a very good perk, that encourages "fright" play and not hook camping.
Yes but the point is that the threat of being camped in a basement is... quite boring tbh. Idk anyone that enjoys sitting in a basement or on a hook while knowing the Killer is right around the corner just looking at you or listening at the hook.
That's kind of why the perk isn't liked... it promotes a playstyle that a lot of people don't like. But, if we add those Killers specific changes than that would actually be pretty cool... and would make it a lot more practical! Rather than just camping in a corner waiting for noise for generator progress or unhooking.
-
I added in ChiTenshi's ideas above with credit and gave some of my own (One works off of his 1st idea though... so it's more like 3 of my own than 4.)
How's that?
-
@Avis_Deene said:
I’m new to the game and play mainly survivor. I don’t think insidious is bad and see no reason to change it. As long as my teammates are smart enough to rush gens while I’m being camped, I am happy. In fact, if I am being camped and see that my whole team is rushing for me while the killer is next to me, I’ll let myself die.
if your team is doing what it’s supposed to, the killer would eventually get pressured to stop camping or they would be stupid and camp and lose out on blood points.
That's if your teammates do that... sometimes they don't and will meet the same fate in the basement!
There isn't really a warning to that either, I guess it really does fit the "sly" theme of the perk.

It's not just permanent no TR untill you move it's periodic. However, I was thinking like 15 seconds of undetectable for a 15-30 second cool down.
But most importantly we don't need another (less effective) dying light. We don't need a better version of Monsterous Shrine (just buff current MS). Lastly, We don't need a "better" bloodlust mechanic.
Focus around the stealth aspects not the "I don't like it or think it's fun so let's get rid of it". (Imagine if this were decisive strikes for instance, and instead of anti tunneling, you instead apply a four debuff for the first minute of the game but then buff the killers everything by four percent.)
Tl;Dr You had good intentions but completely removing insidious purpose (to stay stealthy) isn't good.
Than i'll find another concept with the stealth mechanic.
@ChiTenshi had something going above, i'll add that in above crediting him and just work around more ideas.
-
@kcwolf1975 said:
I sometimes have it equipped just for the people that won't leave the exits. Works pretty well, you walk by the gates where they are tbagging and hide around the corner. Once the terror radius is gone they come back out then bubba gets to have some fun.
That's a creative way to use it, rather than just camping a basement...
-
@Objectively_speaking said:
This is purely and opinion . You also stipulate that you don't like insidious. Also these are all terrible ideas. Idea one gain bloodlust speed (really). Idea two monstrous shrine with screams. Idea three, litteraly buffs survivors 90 seconds (less than two minutes) into the game. These aren't good suggestions, this is literally removing insidious purpose. (Hide you terror radius and become stealthy).
However, if you truly wanted it to become less "abusable" than just make it so by (standing still 2 seconds gain x seconds of undetectable, cool down is x seconds) this keeps it's main function and allows for greater play.
Tl;Dr these changes are terrible and don't keep insidious current function at all.
Can you build upon it than? Rather than writing off the ideas and just telling me the concept of changing the perk is terrible as a whole?
Like, the idea of a cooldown is nice... but if you down someone in the basement and just stand still... than the cooldown doesn't matter at all. Unless the perk just shuts off periodically, than it'll still be abused regardless.
Also, I don't hate the perk, you don't need to hate something to know the flaws it poses.
-
Imagine this was the chase music... it would be awesome.
-
She isn't fun to face, and while some people like @GrootDude and many others like the challenge... facing her over, and over, and over, and over again because she's the top meta isn't fun.
But that isn't why she isn't fun, the general mechanics of how she works in chases and loops isn't fun... and i'm speaking in-general for the majority that face her. Yes, spirit isn't the omega Killer that can kill any Survivor... a good team and even some good Survivors on the team can loop her pretty decently...
But... that's just a minority... if we're looking at the majority this isn't the case. You could just say "git gud" at that point, but "giting gud" with a Killer that isn't fun to play or go against isn't the answer...
Also, the DCing that she causes from her mechanics is ALSO not fun to face... it isn't fun having my entire team bail on me while the Spirit doesn't care and still goes 100% on you.
-
It's basically asking you to do a full health state on a Survivor to gain a point towards it... that means until you progress enough heals to gain 1 full health state, than it will not count.
Healing someone at 99% to 100% will only give you 1% of that 100% needed to get a point towards the challenge. So... think of it as eating a slice of pie, but only eating the corner of the pie and saying you at the whole slice... you need to eat the whole slice for you to say you "ate the whole slice."
That was probably a worse comparison but... idk.
It's not the greatest challenge or achievement concept... since it could take way too long or sometimes not even count the heals.

That could work but, the issue is that because of the video he made on Insidious LeatherFace... you could argue that was when the build and use of Insidious for basement camping took off.
So, the perk is infamous for being used in the basement, and 95% of players will automatically assume that.
