I can't say The Trickster is breaking records, but I also can't say his power isn't fun in a way either.
But that's usually when it works under the right circumstances. This isn't really a throw A and hit B type of Killer like Huntress or Deathslinger, it really does require some critical thinking in a match sometimes to make it work. I will say that his add-on Trick Knife makes for some really fun downs when paired with Thumb Drive.
That's something I hope they add to his base-kit (Both those add-ons), since it would add more damage to the power without requiring a speed boost. If not, then the speed boost is definitely needed if the focus for this power is gradual damage, rather then immediate.
All in all, base-kit is for a lack of better words a death sentence. But with the right set-up you can make it work-ish. But if the team knows what they're doing you're kinda doomed.
-
I think the last time I got those consistent matches was a year ago.
The closest was a few months ago getting a back to back Forever Freddy build (same build too with different console players) into a Spirit. And that was it really, the rest was either Deathslinger, Blight, or something random. After that I didn't really get something similar like that, it's usually different each game.
Ironically I hate PH and Deathslinger, but I never see PH anymore.

Blood, specifically key blood.
But jokes aside, we'll probably see less complaints about it after the nerf, at least when it comes to the old complaints. Any others would be people against the change or something idk.
-
At least we still have No Mither + Self-Care + Object of Obsession.

@FrostySeal said:
Who's asking for nerfs on Blight? I haven't seen a single complaint or post asking for a nerf, and even then on the extremely rare case one does show up everyone just tells them that he's a fun, fair, balanced killer, and I agree.
No one's gonna complain about him (Unless it's his J-flick)
It's primarily because of the flick.
Any other complaints usually focus on the flick or the Ruin + Undying + Tinkerer combo, which arguable is annoying to face if the Blight is especially good. Think of it like this, would you want to go against Forever Freddy consistently? Because Blight isn't unpopular, and that build is also very much not uncommon on him.
Either way, I personally just accept these issues and move forward. I personally don't like the flick or that combo either, but i'm sure if you ask some other people about them, they'd say the same thing really.
-
I play every Killer, literally every Killer. I cycle through each one to make each match different, but I might play the same Killer for a few more depending on the mood.
But most people who play those Killers will naturally play them no matter what, regardless of this circumstance or any other.

@Zaytex said:
His Irisdecent Photocard is good, but it still requires you to connect an M1 as a 110 killer.. which is painful and extremely difficult at certain loops or structures.
I'd argue it's not for that reason alone, but also because of the practicality of the power itself when under that circumstance.
So say you're in a chase with a survivor and you have no way of hitting them with an M1, but you do with your knives. You'd then naturally use the knives to damage them, but if you're in a situation (with Photocard in use) that doesn't allow you to M1 them, then the add-on is effectively useless.
And from the sound of it, most players who use him have a tough time getting M1 hits (which makes sense since you're basically slightly faster than a survivor but not by much). And considering that the power can injure a survivor in this scenario while also stacking more meter ticks after the subsequent damage from the knives, it just makes more sense not to use the add-on at all.
Honestly, using Thumb Drive with Trick Knives is (in my 100% honest opinion) his best add-on set-up. Trick Knives allows you to abuse corners and hit your target from insane angels, while Thumb Drive (or whatever it's called) reduces the required knife hits to injure someone from 9 to around 6 or so.
Sometimes the Iri add-ons are less useful for general play, but that doesn't mean they're worthless either. If the Killer was just slightly faster, then I can see Photocard being annoying. But when you think about it, if you were going to injure them anyways with the knives, they're still a 1 hit down anyways.
-
I mean to be fair, waiting 3-4 hours for a match on Xbox is insane, but 10 minutes is also not acceptable when it comes to the fast pace nature of this game now.
-
That already spells doom when you consider certain Killer powers and their synergy with other perks.
Imagine Spirit with something like Pop/Whispers, Stridor, BBQ, STBFL, & Corrupt/Ruin. I think that'd make any Survivor just give up tbh. People already don't like The Spirit, that would just tip them over the edge tbh.
-
I don't see how the SWFs being mad is a bad thing tbh.
Like realistically, if it's a really good team they wouldn't even need a key in the match. A key in a SWFs is just overkill at that point. Even if the team wasn't good, having a key in a SWFs with comms is already overkill, at least to me.

Its not smart to have two detection perks as they may overlap and start at the same time.
This post is super old so I'm surprised anyone replied to it after so long.
But no, BBQ has a set range from the hooked survivor that reveals their aura for only about 4 seconds. So say I hook someone as GhostFace, I see them only if they're either not in a locker or if they're not within the 40 meters that any tier of BBQ offers. This allows me to know who to go to next. Nurse's only comes into affect when someone is healing within 24 meters (if we're talking about the tier 3 variant).
It's impossible to have someone in my BBQ range also come up with Nurse's Calling, BBQs range is too far and it would require me to be insanely fast for that to even happen. Even if it does, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because the likely hood of that even happening is slim to none.
How Ghostfaces power works is why I recommended these two perks, his power allows you to go to your next BBQ target and get the drop on them, while also punishing anyone who's healing within the 24 meters of Nurse's range.

Honestly, I know what you mean. I feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot by trying to use his power. At this point I think I've gotten more health states with basic attacks.
But, if I hadn't been trying so hard to use his knives, I wouldn't have conditioned the survivors to play in such a way that a 110 killer can loop them. Which is pretty much how all of my trials have turned out: try and play Trickster like a killer with a power, then forget the whole thing and snowball massively as a 4.4 killer when the survivors are feeling unbeatably cocky.
That's realistically the only way you can make it work, at least for adept. When it comes to perks you could probably make him a decent low-tier Killer with Corrupt, Pop, etc, but I don't really like the idea of perks being needed to make up for an issue.
Honestly if they gave him 4.6m/s it would actually improve things by a massive margin. Even if they just put a built in ricochet ability with the knives (like with the trick knife add-on), then it could still improve a lot with the killer and maybe make for some sick hits as well around corners.
-
@MadLordJack said:
No-one is trying to play Trickster as an m1 killer.
Ironically had to just so I could adept him. Only when I was like half way into the match did I feel comfortable using his power without any risk, since someone was dead and I had 3 gens to spare.
But that whole session required literally a one time chance where all of the planets to aligned with a decent map, decent add-on set-up which worked in my favor, and a team that wasn't entirely composed of Red Rank 1 players but wasn't also composed of "baby survivors" either.
Otherwise it was fine. Only took... 7 hours... and it ruined my chance of day 1 P3ing him... But realistically if I didn't have to waste so much time trying to get that done, I could've easily done it with time to spare thanks to my challenge preservation and various other methods of saving BPs.
-
You're honestly better off waiting until a week passes to Adept him. The higher tier players usually come back when new DLC is around, and right now is no exception to this.
I was lucky enough to get it myself with literally a blue moon of circumstances needing to unfold to do so, but realistically it was not worth the time.

In that case I think a lot of killers would have an excessive amount of bruises around their forehead from all the pallet stuns.
But yeah, I think a state of injury/ruin would be a welcome change to prestige skins.
It would at least add more flare and creativity to them, something that's always welcome in any game. Subtle and small changes really go a long way, which the community has expressed their pleasure with when it came to sounds in past DLC.

Pretty sure he won't because he's a killer power
He's technically a character, so I don't see why they wouldn't go for it honestly. If it was just a standalone power than naturally you can't really change the appearance of it, since it's intangible. But this is a character we're talking about, one that fits with the theme of this Killer being twins, a set.

I wonder if victor will be blighted if Charlotte gets a Halloween skin next year.
I honestly believe they would, since it wouldn't really make sense to leave Victor in the same state while Charlotte is Blighted out. In this case they didn't really need to add blood to Victor since he's already naturally bloody when separated, but I still wish they added even more to emphasize the Prestige 3 change.
That's also why I suggested a change to how Prestige skins are released, a overall tone shift to they base-skins being not just bloodied but also damaged or ruined. Even adding subtle changes to the outfit itself really adds to the creativity behind it, which I did like with Charlottes eyes and scars this time around.

Sorry to break it but I think it’s a bug I don’t think they nerfed the perk this looks like a bug.
If that's the case, then it should honestly be changed in my opinion. If Flip-Flop counted towards Power Struggle, than I can already see a lot of complaints coming from Killers that had no choice but to go through a pallet to hook or have the Survivor Struggle off.
Now to be fair, if you're going through a pallet then you should expect to possible be hit by it, but by the Survivor on your arms themselves? I don't really see that being fair if the meter is automatically handed to you because of Flip-Flop.
Though that's just an opinion and the idea of this even happening really depends on what's being given to you in that circumstance. Besides, these scenarios are quite rare anyways.
Also I forgot to mention how this might be seen as "unfair" if the Survivor is under a pallet and the Killer has no choice but to pick them up. If Flip-Flop adds to the meter AND lets Power Struggle activate, than the Killer will get hit by that pallet no matter what.
-
In scenarios where you have no choice but to go through a pallet, I'm kind of glad this didn't combo.
I mean it's simple right? Just don't go through pallets and the perk is useless. But sometimes you can't just simply "not go through pallets", and in certain cases you have either the choice to go around a lot of objects to get to the closest hook, or get hit with a pallet because you had no choice.
The combo still works though, it's just fortunate it doesn't work with the Flip-Flop, Unbreakable, and Tenacity combo, at least in my opinion. But it technically should work with Yui's perk "Breakout", since Breakout just adds a 20% increase to a Survivors wiggle speed, meaning it'll add to this condition Power Struggle has and give a Survivor that 25% struggle meter a lot quicker.
-
Most players that're serious about the game usually wake up late at night to play DBD. At least that's what I've noticed over the years since it feels more casual during the day than it does at night.
It also accounts for the spike in Survivor queues at night, so that's also something else to think about. Of course this changes overtime, but usually the more "experienced" or "serious" players play at night.
I forgot the mention that this is the case for my Timezone (Eastern Standard Timezone) but it might be different for other Timezones.
-
It's the same reason we didn't get skins for specific movie characters for a long time or we're missing someone like Jason in DBD.
It all boils down to licenses and what they're willing to give to the BHVR to use. Not every license wants to work with BHVR, that's just how it's. In this case it's unique since one license for the costume (as said above) was willing to work with BHVR, while the other for the actual movie does not.
But overtime things change, and many like myself never thought we'd get any skins for a movie character like Myers or The Pig, so we'll see what happens.
-
I mean every game is competitive in one way or another, but yes it's a casual game at its core no matter how you look at it.
Anything that implements asymmetrical properties to a game will naturally be less competitive than something else that's more even on both sides. Of course that doesn't stop people from making tournaments for any asymmetrical game, but it'll never be on the level as a game presented at Evo, at least not in my opinion.
Also most players that're competitive or "sweaty" in DBD find enjoyment in that. Of course some people find that silly in a game like this, but it's something others enjoy when you play. Even I enjoy playing seriously against a good team, but I don't do it every match since I find it stale. Naturally people want to win when they're playing any game, I guess that's what makes us all human.

See I think more important matters are map rng you can have one version of map with 10 pallets vs a map with 3 pallets there are alot more important things that affect the game then dead hard.
Yes, there is a lot of other important things to address with the game right now, some more important than others. That doesn't mean we should ignore other issues because they're less important.
There's a lot of things that could use tweaking or changes, but focusing on just one at a time isn't really something that should be an issue. If we compiled EVERY issue in the game, than I'm sure it'd be a mile long list that hundreds of people added to. There are even some issues that're not even issues, but some people disagree that they're.
Basically what I mean is, ignoring Dead Hard for a bigger issue doesn't fix the other issue... if that makes sense.

Your 2nd paragraph is why I bring Kindred. I know and my teammates know what's going on with the killer and the other survivors. It's even good when I want to know where the killer is going or possibly going after they hook someone. It gives a lot if vital information. It's just an excellent perk.
Some people don't use it at all in favor of other perks, but whenever that perk is brought up a lot of people say it should be base-kit anyways. Which of course is arguable and needs a lot more discussion on if it's even fair or not. Of course you (as an example) might think it's fair, but others might bring up a point as to why it's not.
All in all, Kindred is great for issues like this, but it isn't a general fix to the issue.

Theres always something to do about a situation like this. It's risky but it gives the teammate a chance.
Yes, but in some cases it's better to leave them there than to sit around a rock watching the Killer go back and forth from the hook. Usually when this happens it can result in a even bigger loss of the team if they slug the freshly downed Survivor but keep the other one on the hook.
But that's if we're saying the Killer is camping, which is kinda why the question was brought up in the first place. Sometimes though the Killer isn't camping and the team just isn't immediately running there because nobody is hit to indicate the Killer is somewhere else. So by that logic, they have no idea if they're camping or if the Killer is somewhere else. That usually results in a scenario where the Killer was camping and the rescuer gets hit, or he wasn't and a lot of time was wasted being cautious.

Here's Mandy's comment that I remember seeing. This was on a near identical thread (just asking when Rift cosmetics would come to the Store).
I remember the OP was pretty disappointed by the comment. Claiming they (the Devs) can consistently release new cosmetics during the pandemic but can't release already existing content. But I digress. This is the only time I could remember a dev/mod actually commenting on the subject. Numerous threads of this topic have been made with no dev response.
They have confirmed that The Nurse's Blight outfit will be put into the Store in this next patch, which would equal to about a year since the first Rift. But no mention of the other items. So I'm not sure what their intentions are at this point.
I think the Blight skin is because Halloween is coming soon and it's the only one that isn't a part of the pre-existing Blight set. As for the rest we'll see what happens, but as of right now it's understandable why it isn't a priority atm.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1675334#Comment_1675334
You don't have to read the stats. Nobody is forcing you to.
I think you should count every game if we're talking appearance or other factors that go with it, since you technically still saw them in a match regardless if someone DC'ed or not.
You could also just split it up to include them in one list and not include them in another, but if you hypothetically did another list with 500 or 1000 matches, than that would've taken a lot longer. Just a suggestion though.
-
I'm surprised the Spirit is only seen 2% of the time now... that and also Meg is seen more than Claudette. Of course this is a player made statistic but still, to only see Spirit 2% of the time is odd, while Claudette is usually seen the most from my experience. I also find it funny that Myers was seen more than Ghostface in this, despite a lot of people saying Ghostface is better than Myers.
Though it was only 100 games, if it was like 500 or 1000 than I wonder what the stats would be then.

Yep pretty much the last zombie games I played are the ones you mentioned so makes sense. Also yeah I'd love some sort of working hoard in DBD for a zombie killer but I don't see it happening. It would have to be some sort of magic zombie similar to like Grundy from the DC Universe. Even so not sure how BHVR would do it but thematically zombies are always cool.
Whos to say. It could be anything, they might not even do a zombie Killer. They've already done a Wraith and a Spirit and The Hag is arguable a zombie in some ways.
But if they made a zombie Killer, it'd most likely be original since not many other zombies come to mind. Usually The Zombie in horror is more of a unified entity, rather than a singular character. That's why they're so classic, yet they're not defined by a specific person or thing.

That's possible, although I can see them not releasing the single cosmetics (that were never part of full outfits) to the store as well. But mostly the charms.
It would most likely be the charms that would be up for the exclusive side, while skins is a no in my opinion (mainly because they've moved away from those entirely now.)
But that's if it's true, so who knows. I could even be wrong, we'll have to wait and see.

Ah yes that's something that was bothering me, that quote.
While I thank you for reminding me of it, it isn't a confirmation that some things will be exclusive. I used to harp on that quote back then while of course still not treating it as a fact (since it isn't.) They never outright said that some things would stay exclusive, so that's why it can't be used as one. Also things are subject to change and the idea behind exclusives is dead now in terms of cosmetics for DBD.
So again, we'll have to wait and see. A lot of people theorize that if it's true than it would be with charms and not skins, but again it isn't a direct confirmation so who knows.

That's fair I didn't know they distanced their game from the Nazi imagery. I've only played 3 games that had zombies in it and all of them were depicted as Nazi's. However that makes it worse because without the Nazi Imagery you just have generic zombies from the franchise. BHVR can do so much better than a generic Call of Duty Zombie.
Also what makes the Call of Duty zombies a threat is they come in droves where as DBD it's just one threat being the killer. They'd have to think of a more unique power for the zombie killer.
The power and idea itself is entirely up to the imagination of whoever is suggesting it. Personally I don't see it working since the zombies themselves are usually in a hoard, rather than a specific zombie themselves.
And yes, I believe they stopped mentioned that stuff when BO3 came out. You can see this in a lot of the reworked maps, but even the mention of it is either hidden or hardly mentioned at all, while the imagery has been censored entirely. While the mode itself USED to be centered around that stuff for the sake of the story, it has since then been pushed away after awhile. Even in BO2 it started to move away from it, but still mentioning it in some way.

I wouldn't be complaining if they had no choice but to leave me. I'm talking about brain dead teammates who wait too long to save you, and sometimes they never do go for the save.
Well I was half joking when I wrote that, but I can see what you mean when that situation is brought up. It's frustrating to see your teammates not go for the save despite it being safe, but sometimes it really boils down to in-experience, selfishness, or etc. In-experience in knowing if the Killer is camping or not, selfishness in terms of not caring at all, or something else entirely.
Sometimes Survivors don't go for other Survivors until they know the Killer is somewhere else, since the Killer will naturally go back to the hook if they know someone rescued that Survivor. This usually results in the "unhooker" getting chased immediately, which usually deters players from a immediate save. Or in some cases, it results in the "unhooked" being downed immediately and hooked again, which is something some players try to avoid as well.
All in all, I understand what you mean, but in some cases there isn't much they can do or they just don't care.
-
@Dustin said:
Nazi imagery won't be added to this game likely ever so that's an immediate no go. I wouldn't mind a zombie killer of some sort though.
Not every zombie from that series involves that imagery or those types of zombies, in-fact they've censored a lot of the imagery and mention of it despite everyone knowing it exists anyway. Of course the mode was made off of the idea in the first place, but it isn't centered around it entirely.
Either way, if they ever did bring a zombie into DBD it would be a more specific zombie.

Just for the record, I don't think they intentionally favor either side, but it's hard to look at their history and not see some favoritism toward survivors.
Well, the way I look at it is that they've never directly stated that they prefer one side over the other, regardless of the changes they implemented or the views they've shared about said changes over the years. It's unknown if they really do prefer a specific side, but I can see what you mean when some people bring up these examples when the topic is discussed.
It does make you wonder what's going on behind the scenes when some of these changes are implemented, but again, we'll probably never know for sure.
-
The idea the devs favorite one side over the other really just depends on buffs and nerfs that the community regularly catalogs as "proof".
I don't think I've ever heard them outright admit that they prefer one role over the other, despite being the devs of the game itself. Anything that proves otherwise is just patch notes for certain things that get buffed and nerfed, but nobody really knows how they feel about either role. I personally don't believe they have favoritism over one role than the other, but people can feel free to speculate... I guess.
If they ever did mention this, I've never heard it or it wasn't from recent years... unless I missed it.

Oh okay, that's something i guess.
This question got asked a lot back in the day when I looked after the ATQ sub-forum, usually when it's brought up I sited a stream that answered the question directly.
While I can't remember which stream it was from, I remember SPECIFICALLY that they mentioned something like 6 months to (realistically, which was also a word they used for the other date) a year. I believe it's been almost a year since Tome 1? So it seems that the latter was what they chose for when certain things will be released.
They never implied that some things from that Rift will stay exclusive, but some speculation thinks otherwise. But I don't want to spread information that isn't accurate on that end (since I can't find them saying this and I don't know), but we'll have to wait and see.

Your points about not making the rift easier and also allowing more time in between made me think of perhaps a smaller change to the rift system. If we leave the archive and rift as it is now but simply extend the time it is open, this should still be satisfying for people who play more than average and makes the rift more approachable for average players. I would vote at least a week more, preferably two.
I don't personally mind that a new rift opens so quickly as I like to feel like I am making progress on something but I can see how it could cause fatigue and/or makes 'normal/pre-rift' gameplay kind of rare since everyone is more focused on their challenge than trying to just kill/survive. Perhaps if we didn't feel like we were under the gun to get the rift completed the fatigue wouldn't set it and the willingness to just have normal fun in-game would be more frequent, so having a rift always active wouldn't really be a problem.
I mean either one of these changes would help with the overall time it'd take, which is a plus for those who can't play semi-actively or all the time. Keeping it at 600 or 700 EXP is also reasonable, but extending The Rifts time would also be plausible as well.
Also the time between a old and new Rift might be good for some but for others it's not (like you said), so at least it should get a week extension rather than a almost instantaneous continuation, that'd at least be more reasonable for those who want to take a moment to play the game normally or play something else. It could even be because of work or just something else to do.
At the end of the day any of these suggestions would at least help in some way, but the overall grindy part should honestly be looked into imo.

To put it bluntly, the rift is far too intense (grindy), far too long, and come far too frequently, all at the same time. If it was 2 out of 3 of those, maybe it would be reasonable.
To all the naysayers that keep parroting "I completed it just fine so it's not a problem", your response lacks respect for other people's time and lives. 2 hrs of play per day is NOT sufficient to complete the rift. It's closer to 1.5 hrs /day of IN TRIAL TIME (does not include queue times, loading time, spending BP times, and only counts the first 10 min of the trial). The fragment manipulation they've done with the tomes is ridiculous, just to give people a false sense of security, since the first few tomes were "easier", thus creating the precedent that the time investment would remain the same for all rifts. It is abundantly clear that they have made the rift harder to complete, and just because some people can nolife play the game regardless of difficulty, doesn't mean everyone else can.
I 100% agree with this. The Rift is a nice treat for playing the game and doing specific rewards for charms and skins, but it shouldn't be a burden upon those who're seeking other things to do or the things they're doing within their life at the moment.
I for one love The Rift and what it can offer, but I don't enjoy feeling paranoid about losing out on those rewards due to the grindy aspect of The Rift itself, which a lot of people forget a key aspect of when it comes to how you gain Tiers in The Rift itself. What is that you might ask? The passive shards that you gain for 800 EXP each, which you can get by playing the game or even doing challenges to gain other Rift Shards.
Now some of you might not realize that the challenges themselves only make up about half or so of the Tiers you need, while the other half is gained passively through EXP gains. It's nice that you gain these while doing the challenges themselves, but after those challenges are done it takes a REALLY long time to get the rest of the Tiers you need, especially if you're busy with school, work, life, etc.
The Rift itself shouldn't be made easier, it should just be made more realistic for the average player. It's nice that the devs made a system that rewards dedicated players, but it shouldn't be something that requires you to play the game for hours on end, which is also something people forget as well. On average, a match could take 20 - 30 minutes each. You might not even GAIN 800 EXP from that match, which requires you to continue waiting for more matches, playing those matches, getting 1 shard per 800 EXP, etc. It's a long grind that really should be toned down in my opinion, at least to a more reasonable degree.
Also I should mention the frequency the rift comes out
While it's nice to have a new Rift show up soon after one closes, it isn't realistic either in terms of how certain players hours work or what they're able to play at a given time. There should honestly be a few weeks or (if it really needs to be) a month before a new Rift opens, this'll give people enough time to prepare or see if they can even do The Rift at all.
Now of course The Rift lasts for about 70 days (if my memory is correct) which is usually enough time for some players to complete it, but again, some players forget that not everyone plays DBD everyday, some of us have other things we want to play or do in the meantime. So those 70 days can really disappear quickly before you even know it.
I don't personally think it's the days or the frequency that The Rift comes out that's the main issue though, I think it's just the EXP requirement for the passive shards, if it was 600 or 700 than it'd be a lot more reasonable for players to complete. Since again, queue times and match times really do play a factor in how long someone can even play the game at a given time.

Write that down WRITE THAT DOWN!

You can turn it off in the options menu, you get there by pressing the cog symbol at the bottom of the main menu or in the bottom left hand side of the Killer/Survivor menus.
I tried this once and the queue times are extremely long without it, so I should warn you that you'll have to wait longer for games if you turn it off.

I don't believe MMR is enabled right now, meaning the matchmaking system is based off of good old ranks.
It isn't enabled last I checked, but I think he's referring to the current MMR... unless he's not.
