Ignoring every other conflict I have do you really believe it's a good idea to mix the playerbase of Fortnite with Dead by Daylight? Isn't the majority of the players in Fortnite very young? Would you really want to expose them to this game?

To also clarify on mixing playerbases. Any crossover means someone is likely going to look at the opposite product if they participate in the event or update.

This is probably the best reason not to do a crossover. The two games have very different target demographics. Fortnite is rated 12+, while DBD is rated 18+. It would be inappropriate, irresponsible and borderline illegal for the DBD developers to be encouraging children and teenagers to play their game through a crossover with a game like Fortnite.

  • The dedicated servers are necessary for the new DC penalty system to be implemented, because it relies on the unique function of the servers for tracking purposes. The way the new system tracks disconnections is impossible to replicate on a peer-to-peer connection.

As for the servers themselves, the devs are probably unable to give a date for when they will arrive on consoles because it depends entirely on how the testing which is currently underway on PC goes. Once the servers are considered in working order and no longer require constant updates and tweaks, then I expect they will be rolled out to all platforms. Expect an official announcement when that happens.

It's difficult for them to give updates before that point, because it's hard to predict what changes need to be made and how long it will take to implement them satisfactorily. They've tried to give estimates as to when the servers will be ready in the past, and every time something has come up and large portions of the community have been disappointed while others have gone so far as to call the devs liars, so I wouldn't blame them if they're being intentionally silent, not to keep the community in the dark, but to try to avoid that kind of thing happening again.

@Fibijean The trophies were (possibly inadvertently) changed when Plague was released to be this insane because they increased the requirements for killers to get emblems. So, It obviously isn't too hard to do, because I don't believe that they actually touched the trophies themselves, just changed the event in the game that caused the trophies to pop.

SO, if they just changed the event in the game that gives the Merciless, I believe that is what is needed, to award that whenever you get a 4k (including disconnects) well then presto, no need to change the trophy.

I agree that's what's needed - if you read the thread I linked, you'll see that Almo addressed that idea in their comments as well.

If you mean me: I'm saving my shards for the store and prefer to get the complete perks by leveling.

I just meant in general. By "you" I didn't mean you specifically but players generally. I think it would be a helpful feature to have because there are people who might like to keep track of teachables bought through the Shrine.

Do they still punish for this during the EGC or not updated that? I mean, what else can the killer really do... just let a BT save? Gotta change that aspect or fix BT during endgame.

Yes, the killer still receives an emblem penalty for camping the hook during endgame. They're basically trading chaser points for devout points.

I wish it would be a thing too. Would be great to see every single perk you unlocked, but then again, as Fibijean said, you can tell by looking at the level of your characters.

I think it would still be worth it, because you might unlock some perks through the Shrine. I often forget which perks I bought ages ago in the Shrine until I get around to leveling up the relevant character and find that the teachables aren't there.

  • The rudeness is unnecessary, and they're actually right. Bodyblocking is only reportable when it's done to a survivor, and even then only if done for an extended length of time.

  • There's no list anywhere of all unlocked teachables, but unless there are teachables that you've deliberately not unlocked, you can usually tell just based on what level each of your characters is at. If they're prestiged, or above level 30/35/40, you've probably unlocked their teachables.

  • There is a "BHVR read" tag which they will sometimes apply to posts to indicate that they have seen it even if they haven't replied.

However, just because a post doesn't have that tag, it doesn't necessarily mean the devs haven't seen it. All legitimate bug reports are passed on to the team responsible for bug fixes, and the Community Managers regularly check the Feedback and Suggestions category.

So basically, if your post is a bug report or feedback, there's a high chance the devs have seen it. But there's no way to know for certain that they've read it unless they go out of their way to mark it as such.

  • That sucks. Sounds more like a bug than anything, because I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be able to claim them individually.

If it makes you feel any better, based on what you said it sounds like you only lost about 10k points.

Saved loadouts is a suggestion that I've seen since release of the game.

Same. There's no harm in bringing it up again, though.

  • I agree, I think this would be a great QOL change. Perhaps they could also add the ability to save cosmetic layouts while they're at it ☺️

  • I didn't mean EGC, I refer to anything after the generators are completed as the "endgame", just from a general gaming perspective. Sorry for the confusion.

This might sound unfair to certain console players, but, if changing the achievement isnt possible for them, why not just changing them for everyone else? You already have discrepancies with certain achievements, why not accept that "inconsistencies" isnt too bad of a thing?

They probably don't want to give console players reason to think that they don't care about the console experience, especially since so many already seem to believe that.

That's crazy, where I am killer queues are near instantaneous, but god forbid my mates and I find a game in less than 10 minutes of waiting.

Yeah, the queue times for different roles vary a lot based on platform and region, which is why different players report very different experiences with them. For example, I've heard that killer queues tend to be longer on PC, and survivor queues tend to be longer on consoles.

  • I suspect the challenge they're referring to is the one to sacrifice people during the EGC.

That said, many killers facecamp in the endgame, challenge or no. It's the best way to secure a kill at that point - and they're already punished for it by the ranking system. So yeah, it feels really crappy for the survivor, but it is a legit strategy.

  • No more so than your own comment, and much less so than your accusations against me.

  • Those people weren't abusing matchmaking. It's impossible to do anyway, since the game matches ranks according to the highest-ranked survivor in the party, not the average. So basically, you could have been matched with those high ranked players even if they weren't playing with a low-ranked friend. If anything, you should be glad that there was at least one low-ranked player in the group and it wasn't just four red ranks.

    @PistolTimb said:

The system matches you with people within 8 ranks of you if I understand right. It can be hard to find matches so making this even harder would make things worse.

The limit is 6 ranks, in theory, but you're right in that if they were to tighten that even more, it would just make queue times much worse.

  • Neither is particularly fun for the other side, but employing the most optimal (legal) tactics in order to complete your objective is always okay, no matter what role you're playing.

Anyone who tells you that one is okay and the other isn't is operating to a double standard.

  • Don't say that. Poor Trapper doesn't have a lot going for him.

He may get a warning that you're on a switch, but he has to set that up in advance, and he lacks the mobility to do anything more than walk between the gates - he's not like Nurse or Hillbilly where he can be there in seconds. It's still possible to outplay him.

And most importantly, it's okay for a killer to have strengths. Especially a low-tier one like Trapper. He suffers heavily in the early game, so it makes sense from a balance perspective that he should be particularly strong in the late game.

Neither role should be at an advantage by default. The game should not be rebalanced to give survivors a significant chance at escape against an endgame Trapper, any more than it should be rebalanced to give killers a significant chance at a 4K after the gates are powered with four survivors still remaining.

  • It's been delayed, most likely because the dev team decided to prioritise fixing the bugs that came with the patch before rolling out such a major change.

EDIT: Here's an official response from Peanits on a similar thread:

I'm just going off of the game rules temp ban names, I'd assume that also would count but I guess not.

Anyways, the in-game report reasons should really be updated tbh... Maybe some of them are still up to date? Who knows, idk why they're still the same if they're not up to date...

Regardless, he can still report him for those reasons, since it's stated in-game as a report reason... will he be temp-banned for it? Unlikely.

I believe Mandy mentioned that they were looking into updating the report system in the near future to make clearer what is and is not reportable so at least there's that.

  • @FireHazard said:

    @Andy111777 @Fibijean

The only thing this falls under is "Unsportsmanlike conduct" or "Griefing" in the report options during post-game... but that's it. (Unless he's specifically targeting one person, than that's harrasment as well, but it doesn't seem to be from how this post was written... if it was than that's also grounds for a possible temp-ban)

It's not perma-bannable, but you can report for those two reasons above and if the criteria is met than they could be temp-banned for a set amount of time... repeated temp ban offenses can actually result in a perma-ban eventually.

So actually Fibijean they can get banned if the criteria is met... that's up to BHVR to decide if that is worthy of a temp-ban though... he was technically griefing and abusing game-play through a DC... technically... again it's up to BHVR.

But you can do those two reports in-game if you haven't done so already... if not it's too late.

I meant to say that harassment was only if it were targeting one player specifically, but I realise my comment wasn't worded specifically enough, so my bad.

However, I disagree that the circumstances outlined in the OP meet the criteria for a report or ban. The only things listed under "Unsportsmanlike Conduct" in the official Game Rules post (which is more up to date than what it says in-game, I believe) are botting, lag switching and disconnects (which are bannable but not reportable, as I mentioned). The only things listed under "Griefing: Intentional Gameplay Abuse" are working with the opposite team, targeting specific users repeatedly, and holding the game hostage. None of those things are what the killer was doing in the OP.

I agree that it sounds like it should be punishable, but I answered the way I did because I think it's a bad idea to encourage people to report for things that sound reportable or that they think might be reportable if they're not explicitly listed in that Game Rules post, because that creates the potential for a lot of false reports on the basis of how one interprets a loose term like "griefing".

  • Noooo, we're both too busy pursuing the noble call of JUSTICE.

  • This is a Known Issue according to the Chapter 14 Patch Notes, which means that the devs are aware of the problem and are working on a fix.

  • If someone is abusing or harassing you in chat, you can report them via the thumbs up/thumbs down button next to their name in the post-game results screen. Choose the category "Harassment - Communications Abuse".

You can also submit a support ticket at support.deadbydaylight.com under the category "Additional player report information" with screenshots of the chat to back up your report.

  • Came for good bois, and all I got was shame and disappointment. 😔

    Bullshit.

So long as you are not acting like a clown, they generally do listen. They took this guys feedback right to the team directly: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/110693/a-couple-of-qol-improvements-that-would-make-legion-a-lot-better-devs-please-read#latest

because he was rational; collected, thought about what he was saying.

I've seen them respond to numerous Legion threads, say EXACTLY what the reasons were.

As for the AMA we know they can't answer every one of them but I bet they answer all the main ones, I bet they talk about Legion, about Oni, about all of the major topics; because they HAVE to pick the most important ones they can't answer everything.

I totally agree with you, and you seem like a reasonable person. Just wanted to say that it might be a good idea to edit that first word - even though it's not censored by the profanity filer, one of the syllables in it is, so it may still be considered too vulgar for the forums. Better to be safe than sorry, I figure! 😊

A screenshot of the guy's build ( only Franklin's) and then followed by a message saying bye bye flashlight doesn't suffice as proof of intentional DC for the sake of it?

I suppose it would serve as proof, but again it technically doesn't break any rules. I just checked to make sure. I know it's not the answer you want - it's not really the answer I want to give either - but unfortunately I think that's the truth of the matter. If a developer were to correct me, I'd be glad to hear it.

However, if he does it to the same survivor over multiple (like 5+) games, that may be grounds for a harrassment report, so keep an eye out.

  • So if I understand you correctly, the killer used Franklin's Demise to knock the survivor's item out of their hand and then disconnected so the survivor lost their item?

Unfortunately, I don't think that's reportable. Disconnecting from games is bannable, but not reportable (there's an automatic system that handles it).

This is scummy behaviour for sure, but technically it's not breaking any rules other than the aforementioned DC abuse, mostly because there's no way to prove that they disconnected to deprive the survivor of their item and not for some unrelated reason.

  • Seems like there are either very few people playing survivor in your region right now, or far too many. Given that you keep getting games with the same people, my guess would be the first. This could be affected by time of day, platform, or possibly just people wanting to play killer more due to the new patch release.

  • Not bugs with the penalty system itself, but they wanted to prioritise fixing the patch bugs before rolling out a significant change like that.

  • I think most people are probably pretty tired of seeing threads about the Legion changes and the exclusives at this point.

Of course, naturally people have the right to express their opinions and provide feedback, as long as they do it in a respectful and constructive manner.

It just gets a bit monotonous seeing dozens of threads about the same thing.

That, and angry or insulting threads directed towards the developers. The way some feedback is worded, in my opinion, reduces its effectiveness to the point where it doesn't have any kind of positive impact - the only thing it really does is make the community at large seem mean and unapproachable.

  • Your friend was misinformed. Dedicated servers are currently active on PC and Switch only.

There is no currently confirmed release date for dedicated servers on console, but it likely won't be until they have completed all necessary testing and improvements on the PC servers and feel comfortable rolling them out across the board with minimal future upkeep needed.

  • I don't think the matchmaking system is the way it is by mistake, but rather by design. Although I'm sure there are ways the design could be improved, I believe that, taking into account regions, timezones, queue sizes etc., there really isn't a way to narrow it down much more than it already is without drastically affecting queue times or, in extreme cases, rendering some people unable to find a lobby altogether.

I'd rather have mismatched games than no games at all.

Number one you are overexaggerating by one large margin.

Two there is a difference between answering a question about a hot topic controversial issue that the game dev's themselves made due to their lack of communication and foresight. And him answering questions like correcting people on official statements made by the developers or answering easy to answer non controversial questions or just miscellaneous responses

Which part of my comment is an overexaggeration?

  • @LoverOfDemogorgon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/896742#Comment_896742

This would hardly ever be the case if devs actually made an effort to the communities liking's and not screw in alliance with overall balance, there would be much less anger and hate if they wouldn't create an experience in which players come back angry and hateful from, like I said, they don't ask their community on ANY upcoming changes, and don't even TRY to answer controversial issues, all people are doing is asking why, why this, why that? Is every single time the community managers are unequipped to answer these questions? Or as you claim they don't have the backbone to handle them.

See my comment above re: asking the community about upcoming changes. They do give answers. You're telling yourself they don't because it fits the picture you're trying to paint, but I don't know what you think Peanits' 4k+ comments on the forums are doing if not answering players' questions.

Also, if you think it's a matter of backbone, maybe think about how you would feel if thousands of people were constantly abusing you every single day, calling you trash and an idiot and a liar, and then tell me that anyone who is affected by that just needs to grow a backbone.

  • @LoverOfDemogorgon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/896705#Comment_896705

This I feel is you are answering the wrong question here, the devs community managers never respond to the controversial or hot pressing matters for the reasons Ulven quoted above, because of "Bias" and "Emotion", of course there is going to be emotion and bias in everything but that does not exempt it from a read after a MAJOR patch. Many of these decisions seem to be made because they devs don't look at the majority of proper criticism because they classify it as said above. Imagine if they asked or polled a community on ptb or upcoming changes they would like to implement? Imagine how healthier and more concrete the changes would be because they asked their own community what THEY wanted, because guess what, it doesn't matter if it's their game, WE GIVE THEM MONEY, THEY WOULD BE NOTHING WITHOUT OUR SUPPORT.

Also, they do go out of their way to find out how the community feels about changes. They have Player Feedback surveys, Q&As for every major patch, and more surveys every time they release a PTB. Not to mention the fact that the forums, well, exist. And that the devs are active on them at all.

What is the purpose of all that, if not polling the community on game changes?

  • It's a protection thing, basically. Some things they're simply not allowed to comment on for confidentiality reasons.

But in general, they're just cautious about it. It's not a lack of transparency, so much as the fact that they know the community will latch onto their every word and call them out for being "liars" or something to that effect if they don't follow through. So they have to make sure that everything they say is correct and accurate, and that they don't make any promises they're not certain they can keep, because they're constantly under the spotlight and subjected to so much criticism.

And honestly, speaking of criticism, the amount of poop that's hurled at the devs on a daily basis would quite frankly make anyone reluctant to engage. So if they sometimes hold back from controversial topics because they would rather not be bombarded with abuse, I can't really blame them.

The other thing is they're just really busy. There are only a handful of CMs, and they get hundreds of tags and messages and replies on a daily basis (Peanits in particular). And being active on the forums is only one part of their jobs. It's not realistic to expect them to be hanging around here engaging with discussions and putting out fires all or even most of the time.

yeah the issue is the killer won't pick up if they're vulnerable. heck even when the game is literally over: 2 of us remaining with 3+ gens up they don't let me get a blind in rq ><

That's unfortunate 🙁 I managed it in red ranks but it took me quite a few games before I got a killer who was silly enough to pick someone up in an open area. Maybe it's a platform/regional thing. Luckily, there are potatoes at red ranks in all regions and platforms, so it's just a matter of getting lucky with a bad (or nice) killer.

  • @S_Panda said:

I wish I could've matched with you while trying to do a flashlight save. Never used a flashlight until tome release and it's near impossible to get a flashlight save as in red rank, killers will wall themselves or scout around to make sure you aren't there.

It's still difficult to pull off, but you don't actually need a flashlight save for that challenge. You just need to "blind the killer while they are carrying a survivor" which means you don't have to worry about timing with the pickup animation or anything.
