the community still complained when they did a mid chapter devoted to bug fixing and slight balance changes (5.5.0) without any content
The community will complain regardless if it was good or bad. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. If the game is at stake, put your foot down and do what needs to be done to fix it.
They complained when exhaustion was added. When they removed double pallets. When ds was reworked. When MoM was introduced and reworked. Old ruin got reworked. Look what happened after these changes. The game improved.

The problem is that they've already milked 6 years out of the game and they didn't expect it to last this long I remember when Mathieu Cote said on the first anniversary they wanted to go at least another five years and we're already at that point, they've made their cut and now if they want to they could try and keep it going but they will more than likely move on to the next project soon and the writing is on the wall with alot of the original development team slowly leaving for other opportunities. I think this game will still be accessible but eventually there will be a last update and they will probably leave the servers on until the game officially starts to be dead and then shut them off at that point, how long will it be until this happens? Anyone's guess is as good as mine they could ride it out a few more years if we're lucky
I honestly think bhvr was hoping death garden would take off and they could wash their hands with dbd. Then garden flopped and they reluctantly went back to their only cash cow.
-
I would love bhvr to stop pumping out new content and spend half a year on game health. However, I think the devs feel the game is beyond (their skill to) repair and if they cut the content it will actually die. At this point they are probably focusing their efforts into keeping it going rather than fixing it. There's no rush. There is zero competition and they know it.
-
Or bhvr could make it so it's better for the killer to go after other people? It's not the killers fault that removing one person asap is the most effective way to win.
-
Or bhvr could balance the game in a way so the best option isn't to get rid of someone asap.

He can go play Civ V.
I'm not meaning this as a joke nor to downplay the bad games your bf is experiencing.
This is the best advice. If your not having fun it defeats the purpose of playing a game. It's also the only way bhvr will fix anything. Nothing says urgent like losing money.

It makes no sense to me. Why would you give a survivor a free escape it's not like the killer can find a button somewhere random on the map that gives him a kill. So why would survivors get a free escape, and i know that you can slug to get the 4 kill but thats just annoying and a waste of time. It's also annoying as a survivor when there is 1 gen left and you are being chased and the other survivor just lets you die so he can get hatch instead of doing the last gen. Its also really dumb when de tbeag and click their flashlight when they leave through the hatch even though they did nothing to deserve that. I just think it makes no sense. (and yes i know it doesn't count for mmr).
It use to be you couldn't close the hatch if you found it first. Twitch is full of 30 min hatch stand off videos.
-
Can anyone think of any other game where an event is expected to cause problems? It's sad that this happens with dbd so often that it's just accepted. Just because it happens all the time doesn't mean we shouldn't bust their balls for a crappy job.

True, although I haven't used it before actually, I run 3 good perks and one meh perks, and lately that one has been hangman's trick, even it's probably worst than meh, lol
When you cause them to drop their flashlight they turn into Golum. "Lost! My precious is lost!" Then they go back for it and get downed.

Can't wait for the Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/DMS/PR/PGTW combo that'll inevitably be the meta
I had an idea long ago about putting certain perks into categories and you could only bring a certain amount. To prevent the stacking of gen slow downs or 2nd chance perks. But we all know bhvr can't do that :p
-
If a popular streamer isn't praising it most players assume it's bad. Players tend to copy instead of actually trying to figure out what works.
-
My usual build is bt, we'll make it, wglf, an exhaustion perk and a medkit.
-
Turn off end game chat and play how you want. That's my advice.
-
An old woman in dbd would be like a fat guy in a zombie apocalypse.
-
This game should have never released on consoles if bhvr had no intention of optimizing it.
-
Survivors are their own worst enemy.

You know that killrates will skyrocket when DH gets nerfed (because it’s basically basekit) which means killer nerfs?
Heaven forbid survivors lose one of their dozen 2nd chance perks. I guess they'll just have to learn to play the game.
-
They do get nerfed, eventually. It just takes years to finally do it and the killer population has to reach dangerous lows.

MoM treatment? Perhaps you’re talking about MoM, BL, OoO, keys, boil over treatments?
Everything you mentioned was broken OP in the past and was nerfed for good reason. Some were nerfed so much that they are borderline useless now. I'm saying I want CoH to be balanced so it's not OP but not nerfed enough that it's not worth bringing.
Like old MoM. When that perk released it was literally a free health state. The killer basis tanked and they finally nerfed it. Now you never see it.
BL made certain loops infinites. That had to be fixed. I still see it. I even use it so long as I dont get sent to sheltered woods.
OoO was permanent "Enemy UAV spotted" and only one person had to bring it for an entire swf to know where the killer was all match.
Boil Over made some maps impossible to hook people. Survivors would run to specific areas so when they got downed they could not be hooked.
Keys were a free escape for 4 people. They still work but only for one now I think. Been awhile since ive seen one. Old keys you had to bring franklins and make sure that items got grabbed by the entity.

You know how much they care when their dev themselves don't even play the game. They relys on players themselves on PTR. We paid for the game to test the game for them.
I seriously think developers learned years ago that they could just skip buying play testers and just release the game broken. I see more and more games that release broken or patches that break an existing game. At times I miss the days of gaming before the internet. At least back then they had to make damn sure the game worked before it released because there was no way to patch it.

Removing the Self-Heal would just kill the Perk.
There would be 0 reason in using it over something like We Will Make It, which grants faster heal compared to CoH AND does not need any Setup Time.
We'll Make It is a great perk but no setup? You need to make a hook rescue. There's only a finite amount per match. With CoH, unless the survivors cleanse all the totems, there will always be a totem to bless.
I do agree that removing CoH's self care will kill the perk. It needs to be brought in line but not the MoM treatment where it's soooo niche it's impractical.
-
Looking at how long it took them to fix DS, Id say in the neighborhood of 4 years.
-
Your eyes are now open. Your past transgressions are forgiven.
-
Just don't call me homophobic when I mori him. If I'm playing killer I don't care what your preference is. I'm still sacrificing you to the entity.
-
Lets combine enduring with spirit fury ^^
-
They buffed legion. There are still 26 other killers that are struggling with CoH.......I take that back. 25. Forgot about Plague

I guess ? I personally feel pinhead is the best m1 killer. So I bought him to use. As well as his asthetics and perks
Im a fan of the franchise so I bought him. I use him frequently too (when I play) and I have fun wih him (when its not a shutout).

I mean, probably but it won't work on me at least. I care neither about Pinhead nor his power. Deadlock is nifty but I can wait.
its sad but that is the state of dbd. Killers are bought more for their perks than the character themselves. When pin head came out I literally only unlocked the twins, using shards cause they arent worth dollars, just for hoarder.
and BBQ didnt appear in the shrine for a LONG time because bhvr wanted you to buy bubba. Which is why I dont think we'll see deadlock in there anytime soon.
-
@FFirebrandd said:
I wouldn't.
I'm pretty sure the only reason you don't see it a ton is because it's on a licensed killer and I don't think Pinhead's perks have made it to the shrine yet.
Pin heads perks won't see the shrine for at least a year because they want you to buy pinhead.

Oh joy. More virtue signaling

Just FYI they also did a massive ban wave last week. Not sure how many people it impacted but if only a few percent of people playing were cheating and got banned that would be a few percent of the concurrent players on average drop right there.
Anyone who was banned are probably back already on a new account.

If I had billions of dollars I wouldn't buy this game. I'd have an easier time making a game from scratch.

No play with your food or any speed buff.
I give you credit for checking to see if this is geniune or cheating. Most people seem like they just scream hacks instead of actually looking into why they got caught.
-
For every face camping Bubba main. 8 out of 10 were created by survivors bming a killer :p
-
If you dont want to be the first person tunneled out of the game. Either
- A: Fix the game
- B: Don't be the first person found
-
Lol
Dbd moments that made me laugh. When the last 2 survivors rin to the opened gate. There's like 15 secs left on the egc. They teabag at the exit then they realize I brought blood warden.
-
Yes, let's have the survivors bring 8 offerings to the killers 2. How could that possibly be abused?
-
@DanielB said:
just imagine when u play bill and u cough so loud it would deafen the killer. or when u get hit you will scream louder
please add this to dbd
What if we had a survivor perk that caused the grunts of pain to come from a different direction? We can call it Throw Voice ;p

More like noed "punishes" bad gameplay. Bad survivor gameplay :p

I can forgive making bad changes because making games is hard. I have a harder time forgiving how stubborn they've been about reverting the changes that went over so poorly.
"Our data says Billy was overpowered." Ok, what was overpowered about him? What exactly were you trying to fix? Why can't players be expected to drop pallets?
Reverting a change is admitting they made a mistake. They only do that when they really screw up. Like patch 1.9.2
-
It sounds less like an issue with DS and more like consoles need better optimization.
-
Anytime I win I get accused of cheating.
-
Yes but a LOT of survivors would suddenly suck at looping.
-
Rpd. The game sucks because of all the god pallets but at least the hallways are wide enough that I can see where the survivor I'd running. I've played the re2 reboot several times and I still get lost playing that map.
Side note. As nurse I hate rotten fields. Corn is my nurses kryptonite.
-
Their eyes have been opened!

I'd rather play the game instead of watching someone else.

- Make a new team to carefully develop a new engine for the game that will give better visuals and allow for things like fog, rain, water, crushable snow, slippery floors, and whatever else they can think of, while not melting older PCs and consoles and running at 60FPS minimum.
- Have another team to make sure that the first teams code is well written to help minimize bugs and to implement a better anti-cheat that gets updated every chapter (or faster when a new hack comes out).
- Overhaul the character models once again, only so we can have better customization and cosmetics. No more locked sets and now there will be slots for shoes, hands, legs, waist, upper torso, shoulders/back, neck, head, ears, hair and facial stuff. Clothing can now be shared between survivors. Killers will get select cosmetics that hey can share but I wouldn’t want them to be too alterable since they should stay unique.
- Redo every map so they’re fair for both sides. No more multiple versions of the same map. Every map will be static except for new weather effects as well as day/night/dusk effects. No more strong loop after strong loop after strong loop.
- Once the maps are fixed, Nerf Nurse to have only one blink, faster movement speed and no fatigue. Instead she’ll get a cooldown on her blink. Maybe she could get something else, I just don’t know what yet.
- Give Claudette a Bush cosmetic.
- Give David a higher polygon count as well as higher resolution textures so his body can stand out more.
- Introduce Henry Cavills Witcher character, shirtless cosmetic included.
- Increase the Blood Point Cap to 20 million.
- Removal of brown offerings and rework offerings in general.
- Rework some survivor items and their add-ons.
- Allow players to sell add-ons and offerings back to the blood web at a reduced rate.
- Decrease the cost of everything in the blood web by at least 40%.
- Higher professional writers to rewrite the games lore. I haven’t gotten too into it, I’m just not a fan of survivors being helpless and having no hope of ever escaping the entity.
- Give Trapper 4 traps as base kit as well as the ability to walk through traps without setting them off.
- All killers will get a new cosmetic of themselves before they were corrupted/changed by the entity.
- Exit Gates will regress after 30 seconds.
- Rebalance Killers once maps are fixed.
- Delete the ginger witch.
- Introduce a killer that’s just a regular house cat.
- Implement harsher DC penalties. If you can’t handle loss, you don’t need to ruin a match with your selfishness. Serial DCers will be put into a separate matchmaking that pairs them up with themselves.
- Figure out how to remove Bubbas absolute face camping ability. Maybe make it to where he can only down one person with his chain saw when he’s next to a hook and anyone else gets put into whatever state it’s called that requires you to mend.
- More cosmetics in the free rift.
- Reveal SWFs during the point screen.
- Better graphic settings.
- Wednesdays are Pizza days at the office and Fridays will be Cheesecake Day.
#27 I personally preferred the brutalitys because you had to do them during the finishing blow. It was harder to pull off when the recipient was fighting back. In mkx I did Ermacs brutality with the soul orb by accident. I was just trying to keep the combo going and my opponent just blew up lol
-
Pin head is not op against solos. Solos just suck. You should never nerf a character because new people are having trouble with him. The moment they git gud, that character becomes non viable and you get another nurse main.
Without the box your just a m1 killer whose power only helps make safe loops slightly unsafe. I've been playing him a bit and most matches a chain hunt never occurs unless I find the box or the person solving it. You can argue "a Pin head with hoarder will always interrupt the solving of the box" not true. Most people I face don't solve the box the exact second they pick it up. They wait for me to be busy or they at least go somewhere else before solving it. There's always someone going for the box in my matches. Without the chain hunt he has no pressure and is basically a weaker Clown.
