I'm glad you have fun as a survivor. I run a discord server and one of the largest games on there is a DbD. These are the complaints I'm hearing from my friends, who play survivor and even from other discord users who also play survivor.
But tell me something, do you have fun when you are face-camped at gen 5? I'm not asking if you forget about it and go to the next game. I'm asking, do you have fun when you are face-camped at gen 5? Do you feel the game is fair, when a killer can camp you at gen 5 and completely keep you from playing the game?
I too have a discord server and one of the games we play is dbd. You know what we do when we aren't having fun in dbd? We play something else.
-
Lets not pretend survivors are "only" dcing because of face camping. I admit face camping contributes to it but I have survivors dc because they were the first one to be found.
On a side note, half the survivor player basis can uninstall and my que times won't be affected because there are plenty to go around. More people playing killer will affect my que time greater than survivors quitting the game. If this game were an MMO, killer is a tank/healer role and survivor is a dps. I have no trouble finding parties :p

All the endurance perks is giving me ptsd of old MoM >.<

We're you not around in the days when you couldn't close the hatch?
-
The sad truth is BHVR doesn't care about OUR money because they already have it. They care about getting more money by drawing in new players.

Yes. Let the person die on the Hook and do Gens. And the person on the Hook should struggle in order to allow their team to do Gens. This is the only thing you can do with a camping Killer. Obviously, it will be stronger with the next Patch, you will most likely not be able to do 5 Gens. And even less able to cleanse 5 Totems on Top to avoid NOED. So a camping Killer will probably get a 2K or 3K. But at least not a 4K, if nobody does Gens.
And the worst thing to see while being camped on the Hook is this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/OADWM43QZP5A/campingnurse.png
Mikaela (in the back) and Adam (next to me) did not do ANYTHING the whole time. Adam was in fact crouching next to the Hook, waiting for the Nurse to leave.
Really, at this point I am more pissed at my "teammates" than the Nurse who camps me at 5 Gens. Those two are basically additional Killers.
What really makes me angry is when I solo I run kindred for this very reason and the randoms STILL refuse to do gens.

you could’ve chased after one of them but instead you chose to camp.. probably ran after one for 5 feet and then went right back to the hook. They were right, you were camping.. what do you want them to do? Purposefully go across the map and hide in a corner so you can feel better about leaving the hook meanwhile the person on hook goes to 2nd stage/dies? You camped
Wrong. The survivors screwed up by camping the hook and the killer capitalized on their mistake. They shouldn't all have been going for the rescue. They also shouldn't have made it blatantly obvious they were waiting for him to leave. Had they actually performed stealth and hid themselves. The killer probably would have left to continue applying pressure. Play killer before trying to tell other killers how to play.

I like it a lot. Theres a bunch you could do with it. Like slender its most likely got some hurdles to jump through though. Also I think the default creature is a bit dull and the creepiest aspect of it is the mimicry. Which imo wouldnt translate well into dbd.
I think the idea of a killer that mimics the survivors/environment would be cool but it wouldn't work in dbd. That power would be useless against people with headsets.
-
I stopped reading when you said "killer's that don't need buffs like legion get buffs"
If you think legion is bad now you should have seen him at release. Injuring people then walking backwards till they bled out was not fun. Nor the double mending add ons before they fixed them.

No

I only play the game if friends want to swf. That hasn't happened since mmr was introduced. So to answer ops question, I don't play the game anymore. I just browse the forums to pass time when I'm bored at work.

Circle of Healing is not that oppressive anymore - it's still good, but I don't know why people act like it's still this 'forbidden perk' after having its efficiency slashed three times.
Since coh was adjusted I feel its benefit is only 1 person needs to bring it and all survivors can use it. Plus it encourages survivors to find totems. Which I feel is healthy gameplay. Personally I think the introduction of inner str, detectives hunch, and boons was the devs trying to get people to stop complaining about noed and actually do something about it.

It would be much simpler if it didn't, but I suspect it will.
Observing different streamers and by my own experiences - survivors have long queues at higher MMRs and instant queues at lower MMRs (my survivor sucks, so I get instant queues at most times of day) and killers have fast queues at higher MMRs and very long queues at lower MMRs (I think a lot of newbies are attracted to the killer role).
New players are under the illusion killer is the power role. They get to play as a horror icon so they buy the game. Then they get looped all game, get told gg ez you suck, then they become survivor mains.

If I remember correctly, they stated somewhere in the dev update that this "role incentive system" will be dynamic, ie taking your MMR into account in order to fill the MMR bracket holes that are the widest at that moment.
They would have to overhaul how mmr is scored. They stated it's based on kills and escapes. There's numerous threads about how bad that system is. A survivor looped the killer a lot, rescued people, did 2 gens, gets caught by noed and mmr goes down. Someone hides all game, gets the hatch and mmr goes up?
-
I have a feeling mmr will not factor at all. The game will see "we need a killer" and grab the first one available. We'll just get bonus BP for our suffering.
-
If new DH is broken enough to kill the game then one of 2 things will happen.
- It's so OP that they will give it the old MoM or patch 1.9.2 treatment(destroy it) and we wont have to worry about it
- It kills the game and we all migrate to VHS
Win/win :P
-
See you in a month
-
I'll probably equip myc more often and just go after the unhooker.
-
OTR does sound like a really long duration but then I thought about it. That's 80 secs of not touching a gen. The only time OTR might be a problem for me is if they get unhooked, I run back and I can't find the rescuer but I see a blood trail.

If I wanted to play hide and seek though i would go play a prop hunt game though not dbd so that's why I'm quitting to each their own.
If I wanted to be cannon fodder so a bunch of friends can have fun bullying me. Id go back to playing Call of Duty.

Im not really complaining about the existance of Borrowed Time or the usage, just that it promotes the "let's unhook infront of a killer mentality" that I find quite .... weird? Aren't I supposed the be the big bad and you the one scared of me?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016718#Comment_3016718
Exactly my point! I don't tend to "tunnnel" (going for injured people) but I would like to punish people for unhooking right as I hung someone out to dry right away. But thats apparently just me I guess
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016734#Comment_3016734
EGC was a given example and if you are not in tune with it thats fine too. That is what discussions are for. To your second point: what is winning? I win if I got some bloodpoints and had fun along the way. My post may seem to paint me as the "give me buff pls perks to stronk" but I really just wanted to know if people are thinking the way of things is fine right now and as planned.
Well yeah if theyre dumb enough to unhook right in your face they should be punished. Just wait out the 10-12 secs then smack them.
-
I too love devour hope and MYC. However, if your running MYC you shouldnt be going after the person with BT. You should be going after the unhooker.

Look ive played this and other games long enough to read a meta when I see one. I see where the devs are going they dont want killers to only get 1 k matches they've literally said it in the update post. They want a hide and seek gen game not a loop the killer till the exit gates open game.
When this game was made wasn't the hide and seek play style how the devs intended us to play?
-
@Tatt3dWon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016617#Comment_3016617
No its not bro literally hide and seek all new meta for survivors is bring every gen speed perk since looping is gone and bring a bnp to make it go even faster. Its the only way to counter the killer now.
This sounds an awful lot like when a new killer is teased and before he even hits the beta, there's threads of people saying "New killer OP!"

Would you rather run from a killer or sit there and hold a button for 90 seconds? Killer is going to also get boring since it wont take anything to down survivors.
I think both are boring and it's too early to tell how the proposed changes will affect the game.

Survivor meta = uninstall dead by daylight and find a better game than gen simulator 2.0
That's been the killer meta for the last 3-4 years. Only replace gen simulator with looping simulator :P

What are you going to do about SWF on comms? Getting massive amounts of info for free is BS.
If I were bhvr I'd give the typical response when a grave concern is brought to management's attention. "We'll look into it".
When translated into truth it means "I'm not going to look into it. Im just saying that so you go away".
-
At least we have tetanus shots to deal with rust. There is no prevention for the toxicity of dbd besides play something else.
-
@fulltonon said:
NOED has never been meta though...
Fact. People just think it's meta because they never forget when they looped the killer all game and got caught at the end because of NOED. You can take NOED away in exchange for nerfing DH and that is a massive win for killers. No perk in the game compares to DH in terms of power.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3009203#Comment_3009203
Do you play a lot of survivor? Same with sprint burst.
Incorrect. You can hold onto it but you HAVE to sprint at some point. If you wait for the killer to get close you can try to bait a swing but screw it up and you lose it because you got hit. Once you get hit and I catch up to you there is zero chance I will miss or you won't get that extra distance to reach a pallet/vault to extend the chase. If I see you SB away then I know you don't have DH and I don't have to work around it. Some can argue that they can try to recharge SB during a chase. If the chase lasted long enough for you to recover SB either your really good at looping, it's bad map design or I screwed up by not changing targets.
And since you are under the impression that play time equals skill(Which in this game it doesn't). I've had the game for maybe 5 years and 1000 hours of playtime. Id say it's 60/40 killer/survivor. While that is chump change to some other people I can think of. I hardly play this game for any long period of time. Often a new killer comes out or I feel the itch and I'll play for 2 weeks. Then I'll quickly remember why I stopped playing the game and go back to playing something else. It's how I keep my sanity when playing a frustrating game.
-
@Tatt3dWon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3008818#Comment_3008818
Well see i dont know how long you have been playing but sprint burst is literally a better version of dh for people who use it for looping and distance not just for the invincibility which those people get caught quick anyways.
I disagree. I feel dh is stronger because you can use it at will.
-
@Tatt3dWon said:
SB is going to make all killers wish they never complained about DH just like 6 months ago before it got fixed.
Im totally fine with SB over DH. At least with SB when I catch up to you I know the chase will end.

And 6 years ago is great. I'm talking about people trying to get PCs now, though, considering mass-inflation, a cost of living crisis, constant shortened supply and excess demand hiking up prices, scalping becoming more common than ever especially through the use of bots to resell for masses of profit, etc. I was lucky I could afford one back in 2020, before all this happened. Looking at the parts I have, it'd cost about 300 quid more to get it now, and that's just the parts (I got mine pre-built so it'd come with a warranty because I am not splashing out over 1.5k without some form of legal protection, absolutely not).
Sadly, PCs are still one large spend. Some people can't ration this, and will have to buy pre-built anyway because of a lack of technical knowledge, so might as well get a console that does much the same games-wise but you know it's a standard experience.
I'm all for investing into a PC if you can afford to- imo they're the best way to play games because of modding and customisable graphics settings and the fact that you have some slight control over your OS and what you do on it (as long as you don't get Windows 11, anyway). But I'm also aware that some people just can't get a PC for whatever reason, so saying "just get a PC" isn't as helpful as you'd think it is, particularly now-a-days. Console users should still be supported, and that includes with cross-progression.
My cousin is taking classes at MIT. For a long time he was using his work pc and he was falling behind. He had to buy a real pc so he could finish the assignments in a reasonable time. This was last Oct. Best buy was empty. Target was empty. Walmart was even empty, though I'd never buy anything nice from Walmart. He ended up having to buy a pc from Sam's club. I had no idea they sold pc. Since the shutdowns, parts are almost non existent. Inflation doesn't help either.

Agreed, but there are still alot more upsides to a pc, an easy one would be all those old games can still be played on pc, where as old console games for the most part cant be used on your new xbox or ps4 etc.
@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3001320#Comment_3001320
There are absolutely advantages, which is why I went for a PC over a console, but it's also far out of a lot of people's price ranges. Some people can't afford to splash out 1.5-2k on a pc when a console is 500 max, and paying for an online subscription and then, say, gamepass or PSNow is a lot more budgetable because it's just a little each month is easier to reason yourself into than, again, a lump sum of 2k.
Like 6 years ago I saved up for a gaming pc. Not even top of the line in its day. In fact it was near to the cheapest gaming pc from where I bought it. All ive done in 6 years is add some ram and an external ssd. It still puts my consoles to shame and I've never had to mail it back to the manufacturer to get it repaired. Unlike some other platforms I can mention. These days the only reason I buy a console game is if it's exclusive or I plan to play that game with friends who don't have a pc. The thing I like about Microsoft is most games they let me install and play through my pc. When I saw gears 5 on my pc I uninstalled it from my xbox. The graphics look like crap on that thing now.

I have no problems with BT. Just don't get mad when you try to body block me with BT, I wait it out and down you again.
-
More points. If the killer isn't wearing a headset some survivors can juke them after a blindness.
-
No but swf should definitely be reigned in on some level. It's blatantly obvious a swf has more advantages than solos.
-
With any other game. If I'm facing good players and I lose, I admit defeat.
This game however is far from balanced. When I lose its a mix. Sometimes I flat out got out played or I made a bad decision. Other times it's down to poor game design. If I'm using trapper or any other non meta killer and a survivor runs to the strongest loop on the map with every 2nd chance perk possible. My thoughts are "I'm not impressed. Your just showing how broken this game is".

I've done that and then had people go onto images I uploaded for completely different games to leave salt comments. Some people make it a point to harass people and privating your profile is the easiest way to counter it.
Ive had that happen to me. Someone was upset they lost a match of dbd and they posted rude comments on screenshots I had for xcom2.

Have you talked to people in this community......? People never admit they're the problem, and/or their opponent just played better then them.
They find every excuse under the sun except those reasons. "nurse breaks every mechanic in game !" "Hug tech is so borken !!!" It's never that the person got their hit with blight. It's because of a bug/hug tech. "God nurses" are just so unfair. She's just unfair as a killer !
When they die. It's because you're a camper/and or tunneler, etc etc
Samination had an amazing loading screen tip. It was something along the lines of
"If you die it is everyone's fault but your own"
-
@KA149108 said:
People say nurse is fair because of her skill ceiling but if people played against a god nurse for 20 straight matches they'd realise how busted the killer is. A killer that can basically ignore pallets and windows so the only counter is hope she messed up her blinks.
I bet 97% of people who complain a god nurse is unbeatable have never actually faced a god nurse. They are that few in number.

While I dont like removing perks I do want DH adjusted. Seriously I dont think there is any other perk, from either side, that is as impactful as dead hard.
