I play survivor too FYI, solo Q and I know what mess it can be. That however has nothing to do with killer perks but rather the ego and stupidity of certain individuals who intentionally ruin the game for their team mates by either doing stupid things or not contributing to the game progress at all.

Maybe you should give a Pop a try? I heard it's been buffed recently and provides so much value!

Eruption had a simple counter that required some map awareness. It was only problematic for survivors if one of them was straight bad or trolling, giving free downs to a killer over and over. In other scenarios it could be either dodged by timing on switching to a gen that would be less likely infected. Apparently people didn't want to bother so much and would just try to ''brute force'' gens asap and were getting penalized for it. As for this perk being oppressive during 3 gen phase - guess what, 3 gen phase can still be oppressive in some cases, even without this perk. Think about it.

“Eruption had a simple counter that required some map awareness.” Yeah like i said you dont play survivor and your just exposing yourself

“Maybe you should give a Pop a try? I heard it's been buffed recently and provides so much value!” Dont need it I already got pain res for regression and thats it

So a perk that could be utilized is now a perk that does carry people? Nice logic there.

Tell me, does PGTW also carry people nowdays? As for 3 gen and game stalling - that's a mix of survivors fault and bad gen spawn generation. But sure, lets blame killer for trying to use the map environment for it's own benefit, only survivors may do that during loops.

I never brought up pop. That never carried anyone. Only perks (in recent memory) that carried survivors were dead hard because it had 0 counter play and eruption because it had 0 counter play in solo que. You can talk all you want about survivors being entitled for not countering it but i know that you wouldnt be able to either at least not in solo que (the hud didnt do anything to help). In fact i bet you never even play survivor at all. No person that has played against this perk thinks its fair unless you are a super biased killer main

It was rewarding me for spending time to kick a gen and chasing different survivors in attempt to get anyone downed. There's significant difference between perk complimenting your playstyle and carrying you to victory. If you need an example of a perk that did carry people to victory - old DH.

“It was rewarding me for spending time to kick a gen and chasing different survivors in attempt to get anyone downed.”

so you were getting carried by it. Good to know to never take you seriously. Anyone that plays both sides knows that old dead hard was carrrying survivors and was a very unfair perk, and eruption was carrying killer (like yourself) and was a unfair perk. A perk that allowed killers to go straight to a 3 gen and stall games “fair perk” sure

"even after HUD was introduced which was a direct nerf to the perk."

What did the HUD to Eruption? Or do you expect Survivors to stop working on Gens whenever another Survivor is in Chase?

you have to be a really hard core killer main to think this perk was fair lol.

Any old regression perk was good against clueless and careless survivors. Saying Corrupt was an A tier makes me question what kind of survivors were struggling or having any sort of inconvenience caused by this perk in the first place.

Overcharge and Brine were not passive because they required a kick on the gen. Both could be removed by a tap and a skill check the moment killer left the kicked gen. Only very few killers could benefit from this combo and only because they could either return back quickly or create something that would scare inexperienced survivors away.

Eruption was pretty fair perk as it kept the entire gen-kick meta alive and rewarded killer for tagging gens and participating in chases in hope for a fast down. Unfortunately survivors were too entitled to learn how to deal with it, even after HUD was introduced which was a direct nerf to the perk. When it was ''reworked'' the entire meta started to crumble and with final nerf of Overcharge and Brine combo the gen kick meta has died.

What we have now ( if I may even call it meta ) is pure hunter that involves Jolt, PR and PGTW for a slowdown. The problem with these is there's always a chance you end being unable to use any of these perks for various reasons, which means you end up with no gen regression whatsoever. Those lucky games where survivors are potatoes should not be taken into account yet they are still used as an example by people who state that the current gen regression and killer perk health is fine and doesn't require any attention from devs when in reality everything is much worse and new proper form of regression has to be introduced.

“Eruption was pretty fair perk” i bet it was fair for you since it was carrying you wins

And you missed the RNG part, where it easily blocked the wrong gens.

Cool, gen is blocked. I just move to another one and stop running when i hear the heartbeat. Gens were the primary point for killers to find survivors. When corrupt blocked the gens, the killer could easily search for the survivors until they started to repair the unblocked gens of for the full 2 minutes. Which resulted in no progress for anyone (killer included).

I even remember a streamer who tested Trapper/Hag with and without Corrupt. In order to really see the difference between, what then was mainly considered the best perk for those 2 killers. Result was, that despite the extra time to set up traps, the outcome was better without corrupt.

Pain res hooks had the rng issue. Didnt stop players from using it. I still see corrupt in my games as survivor. Was old corrupt the best perk in the game? No but it was certainly on one the top ones.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3453740#Comment_3453740

No, it wasn´t. The RNG could hurt the killer more then benefiting him. Creating a zone that would be impossible to defend, by blocking certain gens.

All for the benefit of forcing survivors to move a bit instead of instantly repairing the gens they spawn at.

“All for the benefit of forcing survivors to move a bit instead of instantly repairing the gens they spawn at.” Exactly what why it was s tier. Forced survivors to move and the gens stayed blocked for a full 2 minutes. Every killer got value out of it. It was one of the most used perks for a reason

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3453688#Comment_3453688

I don´t agree at all. Corrupt wasn´t exactly A tier before its nerf and now its simply a wasted perk slot.

The concept of a perk carrying you applies mainly to perks that give value without accomplishing something. NOED or DH (in previous versions) fell under this criteria. But a perk that requires certain actions to do before hand, not really.

To me, Undying Ruin was the healthiest Slowdown combo we ever had. It required the killer to constantly switch targets in order to get the most out of it, while it also had little effect if survivors just pushed through it, because they didn´t feel like searching totems. Perfectly balanced.

But what we have now as slowdown?

Your right, corrupt wasnt A tier, it was s tier. Its still a good perk just not a good perk on killers like nurse or blight

People complain that now, you got a lot of survivor who can loop effectively, it's good gameplay from her? Or it is not?

Are you gonna say it's very easy to loop in this game?

The only people that say its easy to loop are killer mains that dont even play survivor and that lose one game that hurt their pride so bad that they complain after one bad game when they probably won the last 9. Many of those people are in this thread alone

Same for survivors who say killer is easy after they lose one game and they throw massive salt in the endgame chat. They will say killer is easy and they win most games but that’s because they play killer once in a blue moon so they never go up against good survivors.

I hate it as survivor. And i know i will hate it as killer

Yeah im sorry to hear you had a bad match. Hopefully we can actually get a bleed out option. Killers get their win (which is all they care about if they are doing stuff like that in the first place) and survivors get to go next and not have their time wasted

  • If basekit bt was disabled in the endgame then yeah but basekit bt makes it fair. It should be disabled in the endgame

  • @nars said:

Plenty of people think that DS is useless garbage now, while others think its still at least decent but not worth using over OTR. Whats your opinion, and why?

I think that its a balanced perk that just has much better alternatives. Take balanced landing for example; its a strong perk with a strong effect, but it comes around a lot less often than a Lithe would. It might need some buffs to equal with its siblings, but overall its alright. Thats basically how I feel about DS.

Since basekit BT allows for any pallet within 44m get reached, you'll probably end up downed somewhere near a loop. Against non-mobile killers, the perk is still very strong anti-tunnel and worth using. But since mobility is king in dbd, it being DS's greatest weakness holds it back. Its strength varies so much, a trapper is not even gonna bother catching up while a blight just pretends it never happened. Thats why OTR is so much better, no amount of speed is gonna hit through endurance. OTR is a threat to everyone on the roster, while DS becomes much weaker the higher up the tier list we go. somebody suggested a 4s stun, which seems fine. It makes it stronger vs mobility while slow killers dont just instantly lose chase. ITunneling itself is fine, for many killers its a hail mary strategy to turn the tide of a match. But for even more its a way get easy wins, so super powerful anti tunnel is kind of a necessary evil to fair players. So buffing the stun to 4s kind of hits that sweet spot between tunnel punishment and total denial.

its a garbage perk. Old ds (before 6.1) made killers slug if they were tunneling because the 5 second stun was devastating. It helped with tunneling and it just need the endgame deactivation. The old ds also made killers drop chase sometimes too. Current ds is such a joke. No killer respects it at all. Also the “get downed by a loop” ok and then the killer is back on you again anyway so it didnt help with the tunneling did it?

On the one hand, it's hilarious that the challenge is just "get Flip-Flop to do what it's supposed to do" and it's ridiculously hard. But on the other hand... how do I do it without SWF?

    Here's what I've tried:

    • Run Flip-Flop by itself. Not effective. The killer either picks me up immediately or leaves me slugged forever.
    • Run Flip-Flop with D-strike. Not effective. D-strike doesn't count for the challenge.
    • Run Flip-Flop with Unbreakable/Tenacity. Not effective. The killer either picks me up immediately or refuses to pick me up at all once I crawl to a corner.
    • Run Flip-Flop with Boil Over. Not effective. Once the killer finds out I have Boil Over, they refuse to pick me up.
    • Run Flip-Flop with Power Struggle. Not effective. I'll never know if Power Struggle would count, because no one walks under a pallet.

Like, literally what do I do? Just run Flip-Flop every match and wait for some random circumstance where I happen to get dropped?

Ormand flip flop boil over and tenacity and get downed in one of the rooms up stairs by a breakable wall

    Good.

Do you think this is the debate club or something? I think most people are perfectly fine with Killers getting buffed if they removed frustrating elements from the game. I also think most people are fine with it if high tier Killers are kept in check in the process, since people would prefer better Killer powers over just an overall buff to Killers (e.g. giving Sadako a better power instead of providing general buffs).

My point is, we all know that Killers are probably going to be buffed if tunneling or camping is nerfed or removed, since the stats will drop as a result and BHVR levels the playing field, it's only natural. And I think most people have issues with other elements and could care less if a Killer goes from C-Tier to A-Tier as long as the Killers in A-Tier and S-Tier are kept in check.

I just got out of a match with a facecamping bubba with noed. Yeah i want this update to come already

First match of the day and this happens. The killer was the skull merchant who was using drones on downed survivors. They also refused to hook the first survivor that was downed. I wondered after about 30 seconds why the killer had not picked them up yet and sure enough they were simply using them as bait. When the killer got 3 survivors down they waited awhile and then decided to hook one and only one survivor. I tried going in to pick the other 2 up but it just ended up with the killer tunneling them down. Just that easily the skull merchant was able to abuse slugging and end the match quickly leaving us with absolutely no option to effectively deal with this situation.

This is wrong in every way. This is not fair at all. More killers are abusing slugging because they know it benefits them the most to play this way. This situation should not even be possible. If the killer does not hook a survivor shortly after downing them it should not play in their favor.

and what are survivors doing to give the killer breathing room in return? oh right nothing. They reap what they sow, at least some killers won't tunnel, but I've never seen a survivor give the killer the same treatment.

Never seen a survivor give themselves as a sacrifice, but killers will give hatch.

"treat others how you want to be treated" and all that. They want breathing room, they need to give it to the killer as well. They usually do the opposite and also BM the killer, especially at the gate.

Why would killers keep doing it if survivors just spit in their face? They wine if you try, yet mock you if you let them "have fun". Survivors are toxic to the killer no matter what. They cry and moan for you not to tunnel them but when you do? -t-bag- "gg ez baby killer".

It's long overdue that survivors step up and stop putting everything on killers while they slam gens and t-bag their way out the gates.

There needs to be "allow your opponent fun play" on both sides, not just one. Until that's agreed on nothing will change.

“Never seen a survivor give themselves as a sacrifice, but killers will give hatch.” I helped a bubba get his adept recently. And gave a knight a kill after he had a rough game. And i have a myers a kill after he was gonna get 4outed. And i offered to give clown a kill but he carried me to the gate. I have also been offered kills as killer. Just depends on how you play

Problem: perk that let's survivors optimally use map resources every chase with no downside or limitation.

Solution: remove map resources so survivors have nothing to do in chase but die.

    🤔

Fine lets nerf windows, and then youll be complaining about the good survivor perk instead of nerfing the terrible maps like garden of joy, the game, borgo, the new killer map

  • @Krazzik said:

What is the killer supposed to do if all 4 survivors are just way better at looping than they are?

I have games where it takes me ages to get a down, gotta wait till bloodlust 2 or 3 before I can eventually get one. Clearly I can't just go for chases and play normally because there's not enough time for that, so I usually facecamp at that point. I know face-camping isn't going to get me the win, but it usually allows me to get a few more hook states and sometimes even a kill, so it's way more effective than chasing.

With face-camping getting essentially removed soon, what else can the killer do if chasing isn't really an option?

Your not supposed to win every game. At some point they will match you us vs a team thats better

"Fix maps" meaning what? What's your idea of a "balanced" map?

Windows was always strong and provided the same information it does now. You just had to at least slightly use your brain to remember the information it gave between cooldowns.

Having more resources on maps without a GPS system to optimally run them is a much better solution then "Oh my gen is next to a rock and 2 trees so guess I'll die"

A balanced map is something like dead dawg or some of the autoheaven maps. Nerfing windows does nothing but keeps good players the same and casual have a worse experience. Nerfing windows doesnt do anything to stop good players from destroying killers on garden of joy. Nerf the maps like that and it will be fine.

again windows had a cool down before and it sucked as a perk. No one used it. Even when the maps were even more heavily survivor sides no one used it. Nerfing to crappy perk again does nothing positive. The perk is needed for new players and solo que. Swf already has voice chat and if they are a good swf they dont need the perk anyway

  • @Rogue11 said:

Maps wouldn't be as bad if WoO didn't give you Google Maps to chain every remaining resource perfectly. The game isn't designed for every chase to be run optimally.

The perk needs it's cooldown back or some other limitation. I'd much prefer that to filling maps with garbage tiles and deadzones.

No. Fix maps instead of nerfing a perk thats already fine. Windows wasnt even used when it had the cool down

They need to look at Survivor Gen Speed Perks, Tool Boxes, and BNP. Also for all that's good and sweet stop bringing out more Tool Box and Gen speed perks...with the Buff plus the current Gen Meta of survivors we will see three gens pop extremely quickly.

I'm all for stopping 3-gen def from the beginning of the game.

Me and another user came up with a idea that would help curve tunneling. Basically for each hook there will be a buff/debuff for either Killer/Survivors. The Killer however HAS to hook a different Survivor to receive the buff/debuff. Ie If he hook Survivor A he then has to Hook Survivors B, C or D to receive the next stack. IF LLf he hooks Survivor B them he can Hook Survivors A again for a stack.

But if he tunnels Survivor A and constantly hooks then then he will lose stacks. Also once a Survivor dies on Hook them the Killer loses all stacks gained from said Survivor to make the effects less for the remaining Survivors. Once two Survivors are left then the loses all stacks permanently for the rest of the match.

Now we didn't come up with the numbers because we both are not good with balancing stuff like that but that's the General idea

Brand new parts should just be deleted. Tool boxes need a fat nerf. I dont think making them just being used for sabo is a good idea tho. Making them only speed up gens that were damaged may be the way to go

It is a team game and your team is only as strong as the weakest link. You didn't have to tell your teammate to bring in Unbreakable, you could have equipped it. Seeing as you didn't shows me that you don't think slugging is as big as an issue as you claim it is. If it was, you would have equipped it.

You getting downed 1 time and dying isn't a problem with the game, the killer or their perks, its a problem with bad teammates. Ask the devs for better matchmaking or go the SWF route.

I'm all for a faster bleed out option, but me telling you to bring in a perk to counter the killer is in no way "Unfair". You just don't want to hear it. And yes, I am serious about No Mither. I've had groups show me how strong it is in a team that comes in prepared to work to its strengths. You may not be good enough to run it, you may not have good teammates to take advantage of it, but that's a player problem, not a game problem.

“Thats a player problem” the killer slugged never picked up and had a perk that blocked auras so i cant see my teammates and they cant see me. How is that our fault?

”clearly you dont think slugging is a problem” i made a whole thread about it an im here discussing how to fix it. Also i dont bring unbreakable because i like to run different perks. Using meta is just boring

honestly we are going knowhere with this so its best to just drop the convo. Have a good day

There will always be a meta no matter how much anyone complains. It’s the nature of multiplayer games. Killers and survivors will always gravitate to the strongest perks .

The survivors have an advantage in that they can make teams and vary the perks to help cover everything a killer may do.

Yeah a sweaty swf and thats not every team

This isn’t a fighting game where both sides are equally equipped to be able to counter each other. When it’s 1vs1, the survivor is supposed to be at a great disadvantage. Perks and some game mechanics are meant to help alleviate some of that disadvantage. The game should not hold your hands, for either side, when you make bad plays.

The only thing that screenshot shows is that either your team massively screwed up or the killer was way better than you. It would have taken only one person on your team to bring in Unbreakable and reset the team. It also doesn’t take any perks to spread out and get picked up in a safe location.

I agree that getting left to bled out for four minutes is a problem, but giving survivors a free get out of jail card isn’t the solution. Killer won, sure, they’re being toxic by not hooking, but the game shouldn’t punish them by letting the losers reset. The solution is easy. Let the game detect if the survivors have a way to get back up on their own, if not, the killer automatically Moris one survivor and the entity takes the rest. Maybe cut down the base bleed out time to two minutes or even give survivors a concede option.

Im not against making the game fun for both sides, I’m just against making it more fun for one side while taking away player agency or punishing someone for playing well and rewarding someone for playing poorly. It why you don’t see me saying anything against base-kit BT or the upcoming anti-face camping mechanic. They punish poor killer game play but don’t really reward survivors for misplays.

“The screenshot shows that your team massively screwed up” im sorry that im playing solo que on an indoor map vs a killer with hex third seal. “It takes one person to bring unbreakable” sorry i couldn’t tell my teammates to bring it since again im solo que.

“killer was way better than you” i got downed 1 time in this match if thats all it takes for the killer to be better than me in a game then ok i guess.

just give us a bleed out button. Thats ill take that. But your “just bring unbreakable soul guard” (you cant be serious about no mither) take was very unfair

Also I remember killer players were complaining how the game have 0 variety because of survivor running the same build: ds dead hard unbreakable and bt. So saying “just bring x perk” is just gonna lead to the same thing

You not agreeing with me doesn’t mean I have a bad take.

You saying “just bring unbreakable” is a bad take. We are at the point where you shouldn’t need to bring perks to cover game flaws. Hate being tunneled? Just bring ds. Hate being camped? Just bring deliverance. Hate bring gen rushed immediately? Bring corrupt.

basekit unbreakable was a terrible idea i agree with you there, but there needs to be something in the game that prevents you from just being left on the floor for 4 minutes.

    Case and point.

they are already looking at countering face camping and i hope they can find a way to help slow down the game for killers. I personally would love a second objective like to find part or to find a glyph to unblock a gen.

I am not using "Perfect Scenarios", I am using logical ones.

Solo queues problem isn't with killers or the tactics they use, it has to do with terrible matchmaking and terrible teammates or just teammates who don't have the same goals in the match as the rest of the team.

A total of 4 minutes isn't a period of long time. If you can't handle it use the counters that the game provides. If Solo Queue is too hard, make some friends with a similar mindset, that's what the option is there for.

Plenty of things have been talked about for years, doesn't mean the complaint's are correct or that anything needs to be done. You or anyone not liking something doesn't mean it is inherently bad, especially since the devs have provided counters.

You don't need a conditional way to pick yourself up. Unbreakable is a perk because it is a very powerful ability that can snowball the match towards the survivors victory. You just want a base-kit way to punish the killer for playing in a way you don't like without having to give up a precious perk slot, yet expect the killers to have to come in with builds dedicated to counter anything they don't like that survivors may do, like rush gens or use strong loops on strong maps like Garden of Joy or Borgo.

There is no issue with slugging other than survivor entitlement, trying to whine and whine until the devs cave in order to force the killer to play in a way they want them to, yet will never ever consider how they themselves play might not be fun for the killer.

Even if it's only 2 people left, you don't like being slugged? Bring in the appropriate perk, crawl away from the killer (use tenacity) and get picked up in a safe place, don't be the one that gets found first. You don't deserve a base-kit way to pick yourself up. You don't deserve a reward for losing.

If you are downed and unable to do something, that is your fault. Come prepared.

Killers find getting looped around the same loop over and over, only to be led to the next strong loop and then into the shack and to another loop extremely boring. Should the devs remove 50% of the pallets and vaults? It's boring for them, so the devs should hold their hands and not expect them to come equipped or get better, kinda like how you don't want to get better or come prepared.

bruh you normally have good takes, what happened?😭😭

I run Unbreakable in every match and I maybe have a chance to use it once out of every ten matches.

You're not forced to run anything, just don't complain about not being able to counter it because you're too greedy with other perks.

Slugging should be happening. It's a sign that the killer is playing well, by applying pressure on multiple survivors. You have enough ways to deal with it, one of which is to get good at looping so the killer doesn't down you, buying time for your teammates to get up.

Nah you should have to run perks to cover up game flaws

  • You took the risk to slug and they made you pay. You lost one game big deal. You will probably win the next 9

  • Who cares about the twins rework. Im interested in freddys rework tho

Imagine having to not group together and play well or entering a match equipped to counter a play style one dislikes. Disgusting!

I didnt like basekit unbreakable idea but there needs to be something done about slugging for the 4k

And the complaints seem to revolve around these perks being 'unconditional free value', meanwhile every killer is running Lethal Pursuer...

Its ok lithe will only active once after being unhooked
