If I were to hazard a guess it is because the ability to self heal without needing to bring a med kit that you'll get 1-2 heals out of instead of the 'unlimited' heals that SC gives is very appealing despite the time sink. However, taking up 2 perk slots to self heal is probably much less appealing.

I've seen it a lot in various builds/meme builds on various content creators which might also play into its usage rates. It also prevents you from being reliant on a teammate either because they won't heal you, or can't heal you when you need it.

Another point on its usage might be the prevalence of Sloppy. If you get interrupted while using a medkit, you might end up with no heal and no more medkit/not enough medkit left to get a heal. Or if you're interrupted with a teammate, it might be a while before someone else can heal you. Whereas with SC, you can at least start over again if you get in the clear.

    Is self care good?

Eh, I largely don't consider it worth a take on its own and needing a second perk to make it somewhat tolerable to sit through the incredibly long heal. It often leads to people spending huge amounts of time trying to heal themselves while teammates are going down and gens aren't getting done. I won't go so far as to say it's a 'Killer perk', because used decently well I think it can be a boon.

However, I don't think those situations are frequent enough to warrant its use and I think it's more likely to end up being a net negative in any given match. I've seen plenty of survivors who would not allow me to heal them in favor of them self caring. This was especially annoying when I'd pulled them off the hook and was running We'll Make It. lol

Do I think people would still run it if it was nerfed more?

Most likely unless the nerf is something huge and glaring. Ex: You heal yourself but are rooted to the spot for 20 seconds with a neon sign over your head that says "free down here". Then it's usage would drop. The ability to self heal will always be massively appealing, especially to new players. It's also more effective than a lot of other self heals.

Inner Healing is a good alternative, but if you're new then you don't know totem spots well and if all survivors who want self healing bring inner healing, then the totem wars begin. Plus, Inner Healing took a hit with the rise of Pentimento.

Tbh i still use it but with resilience desperate measures and botany on my yui

Im ngl chief the amount of posts of everything you listed here is close to none, except for 3 gen Merchant which is justified.

Also saying that Survivor crying only gets things nerfed is straight up ignorant as there are plenty of examples of Survivor things nerfed because of killers complaining. Prove Thyself probably being the best example

So 3 gen skull merchant is ok because the biggest whiner (seriously out of all the players you picked him🤣) beat it. Got it. Also killers complain all the time about perks that lead them to getting nerfed. Just look at made for this for example. How many threads are there about that perk?

The killers move 1.1 m/s and the survivors move 0.9 m/s and The maps is 1000 x 1000 meters and has 16 generators that need to be repaired

Nerf all perks and make them useless so that no one can complain about them anymore

Well said, it is pretty much this.

The DBD-Community is not ready for stats. I remember back then when Stats were released, the major complaint was that it was not shown how it was in Red Ranks, because the usual Killer Mains here claimed that the stats did not add up. Next time it was with Red Ranks and overall, and then suddenly the main argument against it was that you cannot see platforms.

And some others said that the Devs were simply lying because Pig had a high Killrate and Nurse had a low Killrate... If the stats dont match with the personal experiece, they are wrong.

If anything, the Killrate-Stats show that Killer is not as bad as some people claim it to be. But who would have thought that players who say they are high MMR, but apparently lose every game because they go against the best players in the world every game might be wrong...

I wanna see how much old Eruption being nerfed shifted the numbers

Please do this before MFT is nerfed. I want to see if the MFT meta makes the game as impossible as some killer mains swear it is. You'd swear the kill rate was 25% depending on who you're listening to. I'm expecting roughly 55% and i'd love to see if official numbers line up with that. What I really want them to do is show the escape rate for three and four man SWF vs everyone else. That would actually be interesting.

The way the reddit killers talk, the kill rate is like 5 percent and every killer is unplayable lol

  • @supersonic853 said:

I guess the face of the perk is to make struggling more effective against the killer. But with a handful of maps what would be "difficult" becomes impossible. Especially with combined builds, forcing a death on the only hook in one corner of a map, or just bad map design in general inflated by map offerings being played(midwich and badham). So what would be the best approach. Going through every map to make a better spread so this never happens in the first place and future proofs any future perks that have to deal with struggle mechanic?(Also have of these maps would need such a change anyway. Midwich can have 90% of the hooks on the same floor. Making a unhookable area easily.) Reworking the perk? Or leaving it how it is?

(Its very unhealthy to just be left as is. But i don't face it to much. Although going to Ormond or Badham and having no option but play slug simulator for minutes at a time makes the game very boring)

Edit:(Forgot to mention. Boil over is known to target console players out over PC because of the way killer movement works on console. Making the perk inflated based on your platform. So do with that what you will)

OK. That's great for your friend. But from my experience, nearly every killer with ultimate weapon I've been against would leave the person on the floor and use ultimate weapon to find me for the 4k. Yes I get killers that do without it. But if they have the perk. They will most likely do it.

I had one oni in his demon dash use ultimate weapon while slugging for the 4k so I understand.

  • @Quizzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3557678#Comment_3557678

Im saying killers are more prone to slug for the 4k when they have ultimate weapon equipped and the final survivor is nowhere to be found. I didnt say the perk caused slugging for the 4k to all of a sudden happen in this game.

Its literally the only perk that can effectively find a survivor that is nowhere to be seen on big maps. So yea, ultimate weapon absolutely has something to do with more slugging occuring when the perk is used

Toxic killers are more prone to slug for the 4k. Unless they have to do a challenge its just toxic killers that do that. I was watching my friend stream and this plague made the game last 15 more minutes than usual because they so badly wanted a 4k. They let the bot wiggle out like 5 times as well and almost bleed them out too. Just watching that was boring enough

If a surv bodyblocks* immediately after getting unhooked, I'm going to remove them from the game, even if I have to throw to do it. It's behavior that needs to be punished.

The entire point of the basekit BT is to help them get away; you don't get to use it to protect the unhooker and still keep your tunneling "immunity". Once a surv is unhooked, they should gtfo, they're not entitled to take that protection hit and then be allowed to leave.

If a surv gets unhooked and wants to stay right in my face when I'm trying to chase someone else, they get my attention. All of my attention.

As a surv it's also annoying; I just took the time to run halfway across the map to unhook you so you can get away, so get away.

*if it's obvious and intentional bodyblocking.

    Agreed

With the implementation of AFCS, I am concerned that the game will become terribly boring for me because the game will become a game in which the game of playing with killers will become bland.

I am concerned that the AFCS implementation will make the game terribly boring, as playing the survivor side in this game has always been as thrilling and rewarding as the chase, or even more so, as you try to outwit the killer or trade roles to get hung, to rescue or not to rescue, and when to go if you do.

With the implementation of the AFCS, however, survivors can simply work quietly to repair generators once they know the killer is camped out. This means less opportunity for the difficult but rewarding and uplifting experience of playing with the killer.

In the past, you have nerfed a number of major perks to broaden the choices of killers, but why would you reduce the choices and narrow the scope of killers with a system? Camping is a tactic, so why take that option away? Not all killers are as highly maneuverable as Nurse, Bright, or Spirit (some killers are slow on their feet, have a wide heartbeat, and have long range attacks but short range and a hit point that is the tip of a needle, remember?) . I'm not convinced that AFCS should be implemented unless the killer can at least get more than camping, or at least as much benefit as camping, by moving away from the person he hanged.

I have been rescued and protected by good senior survivors many times in the past from killers who camped and tunneled. The really good survivors were not only good at chasing, but also at rescuing and covering their allies, and even if they were not in the party, they worked together brilliantly. Their example became my goal and motivation.

However, now that the Bolo Time is always given when rescued, there is no longer a catch when hook rescuing, and strong perks have been implemented (such as situational adaption), playing Survivor no longer feels as tense as it used to. Rescues are no longer as thrilling as they used to be, as you can usually rescue a person by yourself if you are not a cannibal.

If AFCS is implemented, the game will become even more monotonous. If you know you are camping, you can fix the generator while listening to music, and if you know you are not camping or that someone is chasing you in the UI, you can easily rescue them while humming a tune. Or one of them could pretend to go to the rescue from a safe distance, within sight of the killer, to make it harder for the killer to get off the hook, while the other two repair the generator, and the AFCS would be triggered without fail, the hanged person could escape, the generator repair would proceed, and the killer would be the only one suffering. ....and what a mess that would be.

Do those who are in favor of AFCS really think that such an easy work game, where you don't even have to improve, is really fun?

(By the way, the range of AFCS is 16 meters, but is the survivor's face 16 meters long? It doesn't look that way on the screen...)

    IMG_3272.jpeg IMG_3212.jpeg IMG_0722.jpeg

Do we really need an Anti Face Camp System?

    Yes

  • @Trex_Crazy said:

Since they added base kit bt, and the little speed boost, after unhook. The unhooked survivir tends to block fo their savior who is usually full health. I know some people dont like that fact and I di think its a bit odd and an unintended consequence of attemting antitunneling mechanics. The only issue, which isn't really an issue as it tends to lead to free wins, that arises is if a unhooked survivor gets in my way I just end up eating the endurance then downing them again. Some of the people have complained about tunneling but at that point you're asking for it if you're impeading my path to my only other known target. Thoughts?

If a survivor body blocks with bt they have no right to complain about tunneling. Just ignore them they are entitled at that point

First of all, the intention of this post is to explore and gain insights into this phenomenon that I am interested in. I ask you to share your experiences and give constructive feedback. Please be respectful to everyone <3

So, as we all are aware, I'm sure, female survivors in DBD are not just more popular than male survivors, but much more popular. I know that this is not a phenomenon exclusive to DBD, it exists in many other games as well. However, with this post I would like to gain an understanding on why that is so in DBD specifically. Cosmetics play a big role in this, so I would like us to take them into consideration, as well.

As far as I can think, these are the reasons that people might be preferring either male or female survivors:

    • who they can identify with, relate to, or connect with better
    • who they find more attractive, and therefore want to see on the screen
    • who has more interesting (beautiful, quirky, etc.) cosmetics available, as well as more cosmetics in the sense of quantity
    • who has gameplay advantage - in this case it's the female survivors, due to them being shorter and therefore having better potential for stealth, evading the killer, and (flashlight) saves on their teammates

Based on my experience of watching streamers, as well as other people I'm acquainted with, it seems that a person's gender identity and romantic/sexual interests don't play a major role in this, since any group of people tends to play as female characters.

I am a gay guy, and prefer playing as male characters, because I can both relate to them better, and also prefer seeing them on the screen. However it seems that most gay men prefer playing as female characters. This is what confuses me.

I would like to ask you readers, to give your perspective and understandings on this, on why female characters are that more popular than male ones. Both female and male characters are awesome and deserve love and popularity. And in order for me to able to promote male characters more, and accentuate their value, I need to understand what is causing this disproportional pick rate.

Thank you for reading! I hope that we can have a really nice discussion on this.

For those who don't know, The King and Paulie Esther hosted an interview with Mathieu Côté recently. The King does this annually to celebrate his birthday -- so a big happy birthday to him and a big thank you to Paulie Esther and Mathieu Côté as well.

I'm a big fan of these style of interviews as they're a great opportunity to get some information from behind the scenes, and they're probably the closest thing we've got to the old developer streams BHVR used to host every week (those of you who've been around for a while will remember them!).

As part of the interview, the topic of getting Jason Vorhees in Dead by Daylight was brought up, and Mathieu Côté had this to say:

"I mean the game [Friday the 13th: The Game] lost the license. This one is a legal quagmire. It's literally a tarpit that you don't want to put your finger in it 'cause you're gonna get sucked in. [...] If we had a good way in, we'd probably take a shot, because it's Jason, right. But so far there's been no opportunities. It's just too complicated and every other week someone comes out of the woodwork and says 'No, no no, it's actually MY license!' and everything goes to hell again."

You can watch The King's video on the topic here.

Personally, I don't find this surprising. As a fan of the F13 franchise, I followed the legal troubles quite closely and even now that it's resolved (sort of), the situation has always been (at least in my opinion) far too delicate for any possible collaboration with DbD.

I've seen a lot of people speculating about what the next Chapter is going to be -- Jason being a popular theory. But this essentially confirms that isn't the case, and we won't be getting a F13 chapter for the forseeable future.

meh who cares, we got trapper already

The problem with losing as killer is that it feels like a slowly twisting knife, you know you can't comeback, the game effectively over, yet you're still forced to play it out and endure 10 minutes of an unwinnable match.

If the killer slugs you, you can just go watch youtube for 4 minutes or play on your phone while you wait.

I'm curious about this. Does everyone have a killer main that they strictly play?

For me over the years I've noticed I don't main anyone in particular. I enjoy playing most of the killers, and I'm not particularly better with any one killer over the other. I'm average with all with the exception of ranged killers and nurse but that's just because I never sank the needed time to really practice with them.

When I log in to play I have a hard time o ly playing 1 killer all day. After 2 or 3 matches I get bored of that killer and swap to someone else. That's why I could never get really good with 1 particular killer. I guess it'd ADD but It just gets stale fast and I swap around.

Does anyone else have a similar playstyle?

Demo nemesis and pyramid head. Thats the list

Perhaps an odd title but let me explain. Everyone loses, sure. It shouldn’t be something to be avoided. I lose in a BR game, it’s quick and I move onto the next match. Even as Survivor you can die on the hook to get out quickly unless Meg saves you when it’s clear you want out.

Losing as Killer is a drawn out process. You know it’s over way before the score screen pops up. That said you have to play it out. 9/10 times Survivors are simply incapable of just taking their W, they have to rub salt in the wounds and draw it out. Sometimes their new goal will be to make the Killer DC with an eruption of laughter if successful. You can see this on plenty of steams and youtube vids.

The continued forced implementation of the Survivor Rule Book will likely exasperate this issue. Who wants to play as the Xenomorph and feel bullied by a group of Princess Heart Fengs?

Why are all your discussions so negative?

I can't understand her counter for someone like Wraith even though I hate facing him I can still understand how to handle him. Spirit that's the main problem her husk has the terror radius the wind sound she masks doesn't give much info other then oh she's nearby and most times she finds even when I'm not injured. How do you counter her because I'm not wasting any pallets on her.

if the spirit is bad then walking and hiding scratchmarks work. If they have cherry blossom or are just really good, predrop and pray

Anti hook camping is delivered greatly by the developers. Soon 3 gen will be history too! Hope anti slugging and anti tunneling comes too in the future to make survivors have fun playing dbd again.🥳🥳🥳🥳

Im happy with the camping change. After that the devs can see how killers perform and if they don’t perform up to par then they can be buffed appropriately

Adrenaline is an unhealthy perk that enables genrushing. The delayed heal is nonsense that deserves to be removed. I'd love to remove the heal from injured to healthy entirely so that survivors can't just crank out gens to negate the pressure that's supposed to stop them from cranking out gens.

Genrushing needs a change. Not adrenaline. The perk is fine it rewards you for getting to the endgame. It only activates one time and it does nothing if you die before. Plus noed and terminus counter it already. If it activated after every gen was completed then yeah i would agree but the one we have now? Absolutely not. Again make genrush less potent like a corrupt and a smaller dead lock basekit instead of nerfing a perk. Making adrenaline useless doesnt solve the problem but just leads to killer player’s complaining about the next perk that they lose to.

for example if the devs nerfed deadlock because facecamping with it along with noed is too strong then that doesnt solve the issue.

also nerf toolboxes too and just make them speed up gens that were damaged (kicked or regressed by jolt or pain res)

Pentimento - requires a secondary hex perk to work like plaything, or a survivor doing a totem challange to even start activating, then can be countered just by cleaning out the totems again - fine as is.

Buckle up - Did not need the 10s of endurance, a proper "buff" would have been keeping the 10% haste and giving 1-2 seconds of endurance to protect the pickup if the killer swung right away. a guaranteed free escape in endgame thanks to BU is fundamentally unhealthy.

STBFL - Perk requires M1s only, takes time to build up stacks, stacks can be lost if you M1 the obession , only rework it could use is making it so M2s on the obsession also consumed tokens. otherwise, its fine as is.

Adrenaline - much like otz said, adren working off the hook and giving a speedboost + free healthstate is ridiculous. perk needs to be reworked to only activate IF you're the one to finish the last gen AND cannot trigger off the hook. having your last chase be essentially reset because adren goes brrr is fundamentally unhealthy.

MFT - Has been discussed before, but to keep it simple, 20-30% chase extension just for holding W + the free 10s endurance on any heal is fundamentally unhealthy, perk should have never made it past the brainstorm stage.

Knockout - only purpose is to literally slug, perk could be deleted and nothing of value would be lost.

Deliverance - Encourages tunneling, and punishes the killer for *not tunneling* by deleting pressure for free. Perk needs to be reworked to work the other way around, if the killer tunnels the person you just unhooked then you get deliverance. until then, its unhealthy.

NWO - Only issue is the 1v1, otherwise its fine.

Power struggle , forced hesitation , boil over, pain res, UW, FTD,Coulrophobia and rancor are fine as is.

Hope - allowing survivors to be as fast or almost as fast as the killer will never be balanced, perk needs to have a time limit. unhealthy.

Streetwise - Stacks on itself, allows a Wirespool+Socket commodius to crank out 60~/90 charges off a gen in roughly 30 seconds, stacks with itself for even bigger benefits. Pureform genslam perk. extremely unhealthy.

Hyperfocus - fine as is, only problematic when paired with other genslam perks.

OTR - Much like otz mentioned, 80s is way too long, allows the unhooker to bodyblock for essentially free, which defeats its purpose of "anti tunneling", allows the survivor to interact with killer powers without losing the endurance. Any anti-tunneling perk that can be used offensively to punish the killer for *not tunneling* is fundamentally unhealthy.

    Noed + insidious - unhealthy.

    Shattered hope should be basekit.

    That adrenaline change is garbage

I am asking to community if you agree with him or not. There is perk list and video source:

how come yall nerfed the xenomorph so hard and so fast yet yall are REFUSING for the life of you to nerf mft (and hope)? yall said there are changes coming to it but why are you waiting so long to put it out meanwhile the xenomorph gets it within 2 weeks.

You had a win but decided to be scummy and slug for the 4k. I would agree mft and hope sucks to play vs but considering what you were doing I would say justice got served

Since the legendary skins give us a “new character”, they should have the chance to be prestiged at least; it would be a very good improvement for the ones that play with legendary skins, thank you

Would love if they got bloody skins and their portraits in the menu

In an effort to make her power more threatening, BHVR reworked her condemn stacks to add globally. This simple change, even ignoring the rest of her changes, promotes spamming teleport arguable more so than her original design with the iridescent addon which has led to matches where survivors are nearly helpless unless they are communicating and coordinated.

I won’t deny there is counterplay, but for the general populous, this killer needs yet another overhaul.

    I think shes fine

Survivors basically have invulnerability shields at windows. But there is oh so much more to it.

The endurance spam is infuriating. There are way to many ways to proc endurance giving a bonus health state. Most survivors take a minimum of three hits to take down anymore.

The gen speeds are goofy. BHVR undid their nerf to gen speeds by giving survivors so many perks that increase their repair speed now. So yeah while base gens technically take longer than they used to. They actually take less time in practice thanks to all the perks and boxes.

Survivors are actually more powerful when injured now as they run faster, vault faster, heal faster, and repair faster.

And Windows of Opportunity quite literally plays one of the harder parts of the game for you. Pathing used to be something that required time to learn and skill to apply. But Windows of Opportunity does your pathing for you now. You literally know exactly what is safe and where to go next.

And the cherry on top of all of it is the same survivors who are living in this luxurious era for survivor will you without a hint of irony claim killer is OP and easier than ever. Even though Killers best perks have all been nerfed. And the killers themselves keep getting nerfed. And even more hilariously the two most recent killers have been designed to be rendered powerless by giving survivors weapons to completely nullify their powers and make them basic M1 killers.

    It's beyond insane.

This sounds like a reddit killer type take

This post reminds me of the nerf DH but Eruption is fine threads from earlier in the year.

Im still shocked that there were people defending old eruption. I remember one forum member quit because of the perk being nerfed

People defend the 3% haste with their lives, but then ask the only killers not affected by it (Nurse, Blight, Spirit) to be nerfed.

I think oni players love made for this
