ngl with posts like this we really need to see gameplay as there are just too many variables to consider.
Do you play on steam or a console like ps5?
I fail to see what machine I play the game on has any affect on what happend and my account of the event.
It didnt get recorded, but it still happened and the match details can be pointed out to BHVR if they were skeptical about this.
But BHVR isnt skeptical about this, by random chance this is completely possible and they are fine with that over making changes that eventually got shouted down by the community.
The question this poses is: If a Killer can kill a Survivor all three hookstates within 1.5min is that acceptable and fair game to you?
To me, that is preposterous and it speak either of gross imbalance, ease at which a Killer can do that or that their MMR system needs to be WAY better. And my answer was they should make changes to how easy it is for the Killer to do this, like asking why does the Killer get notified when a Survivor is unhooked. Like a Dinner bell being rung, to me that is only something that helps tunnelers.
My point about that is that tunneling should not get extra help.

Once again putting features that should be basekit onto perks to limit build freedom.

That is not true information. If you look at data on official stats, it counts as escapes and lowers your kill rate.
The developers stats they use for balancing decisions are diffrent from the ones we have.
I believe that was what @ShanoaLegendaryPlz was getting at.

No no, NO KILLER should be getting a kill in a minute and a half. That's 100% you or your teammate's fault. There is no way you couldn't last that long after being unhooked, even if they insta farmed you.
From the people posting here, Clearly the problem is I didnt start running when I was not in a chase and the Killer wasnt near me and I was half healed. Who cares if you are being healed, the Blight is across the map I have to assume he will be back any second even if hes chasing someone else.

Except we have attempted to address these issues more than once, so it is not being totally ignored. I understand where you're coming from, though, and understand it's frustrating.
I think the worst part is believing in it, "Oh finally BHVR is gonna do something that is going to make all those bad games we had over the many years to make the game have less bad games in the future" and then getting thoroughly disappointed while "the other side" is currently tunneling to their hearts content. Gleefully that the "survivor mains" could not get any changes through to limit their ability to crush Survivors in any meaningful way.
So we ended up with a rise in bad games, to say this is frustrating is selling it short. You should call it a travesty.
But yes, a fair try at doing it is always appreciated, but even a bandaid fix would have been better than the increase in tunneling. I guess its moderately more difficult to Camp now… I guess.

Even if you and your teammates are bad, getting killed that fast should not be possible for any killer. If you really did die in a minute and half, you all definitely did smth wrong that game for that to happen.
Blight is called one of the strongest Killers in the game for a reason.
Being able to return to the hook in less than 10 seconds is pretty effective.

You didn't know he is a killer who is capable of doing that?
Also I wonder how long survivors left you on hook, because unhooking early is also definetly a mistake of survivors.
When killer double hooked you, then other survivors should keep you on hook for longer and you should definetly try to hide when unhooked.
This update regarding of tunneling would be fine, if they didn't screw pallets. That's the main issue.By that logic you cant unhook against the Blight, because he is able to be back at the hook in less time than it takes for scratch marks to disappear. And the running start is going to mean nothing to to a high mobility Killer.

You were being greedy, healing under hook. If you had the jill perk or he had a lot of heal perks you'd have been fine. But you cant expect to heal under hook unless Blight is in a chase. He knows 2 people are there, and chances are decent you are trying that.
He was chasing someone else, crossed the entire map to tunnel me out. How is that greed on my part???

I’ve never had it come up in any circumstance of any match I’ve played for both sides. Until I see video proof I will never believe what’s being said.
So you dont believe its possible to tunnel a Survivor out in less than 2min? Honestly I think that is the more extraordinary claim.
-
@Royval @VibranToucan @OnryosTapeRentals
Well I didn't expect to have a bad game worth complain about on to BHVR so the recording software was off, but I can point out the game via stats and then BHVR can take a look at it. Even so, I have two friends as witnesses, if you would like to question them if you really find this so outlandish.
-
I think 2v8 is fine as it is, but it could benefit from more classes with more defined roles/playstyles.
-
Whats the future going to hold for changes to actually do something about tunneling?
-
Why guess when you can read the postgame chat to see???
-
@Wezqu said:
Its part of the game and if they call you tunneler in that situation they are either trying to rile you up or they totally clueless what tunneling is.
My thoughts exactly, but I cant help but think the game would be better if Survivors didnt have the option to use it offensively against the Killer. As I explain: To discourage bad plays.
-
If enough players blocked a killer for it to become a big problem, maybe BHVR should make funner killers?
You assume people will ban a killer because they are unfun, not that the Survivor is bad against them.
-
You forget that we and BHVR had to go through this process to see if we could stomach some core gameplay changes.
Turns out we really cant. But BHVR isn't out yet, there are other things they can and will do.
They will get to work on MMR changes and start up better ways to teach players to play. All what this means is that the Slugging/ Tunneling parts wont get to live, but it does not mean they are shelved completely.

I think the results from the survey might be a bit biased, for example personally I didn't fill the survey because 2v8 is not a game mode I enjoy much. So I haven't been playing the game much to interact with the survey while that mode is active, and wasn't really interested in giving feedback. So I think people who love that game mode were more likely to fill it out.
would the survey being outside of 2v8 event not be biased in the opposite way then?
counterpoint: BHVR gave us full knowledge of the survey's exitance on social media.

A killer seeing a notification on a gen is not going to assume anything besides a blown skillcheck, or one of their perks activating. A killer seeing a random noise notification away from gens is going to assume you're trying to waste their time and ignore it, more so if it keeps happening. And if they see it was on a locker they're just know it was Red Herring.
As a Killer, I dont think I would assume Red Herring if I saw a loud noise notification. If I saw it on a locker sure.
But most of the time, structures are in the way. if the Killer is smart they might not fall for it more than twice. However that is much better than Zarina running from a Gen to a safe place to activate the perk on that gen IMO.
-
If a Killer is weak or strong is often different from our personal experience, its not really a question of what is fair.
Rather its a question of what aspects of the Killer do you have difficulty with?- Is it hard to stalk Survivors to exposed?
- Is it difficult to get value out of the stealth?
- Survivors looping you for days?
-
then I started to run into team after team that were there specifically to bully the Killer with flashlight spam, firecrackers, a exponential boon that just gives them "extra lives"/free hits.
I love teams like this, they are so easy to get to waste the game cause they starve for attention.
You CAN avoid flashlights, flashbangs and you can snuff out the boons, but honestly its not easy and MMR will do this to you. If you win and win, eventually it will give you players who are way better.I will give you that MMR Ranks currently are not very accurate and BHVR has said they need to work on it.
You can easily feed on noobs for hours and charge up for you MMR until you break up into MMR Hell.Once BHVR fixes that, what else can there really be done about this?
-
Its my fav map, please dont remove it. :C
-
If they are friendly from the start then that should be bannable, but I quite enjoy arguing with the other Killer with nods or shaking head if we should kill the last one or let them go.
-
Agreed! Would be a useful safe environment for people to diagnostic their rigs for errors with the game.
-
Honestly its just used disrespectfully, once I down the last Survivor they quit before I can mori.
They cant even stay to watch the Mori, but Killers HAVE to watch and push Survivors out of the exit gates??That just isn't fair, I have to watch their T-bagging to bring the game to a close but they can dip out the second I win.
-
Cant we have some fun? Does everything have to be super serious?
-
How about:
Hand of Vecna's locker transportation mechanic as anti-tunnel PERK ???
Call it "Taa-daah!"
flavor text: "And for my next trick I need a volunteer, You Sir!"
-
It solves the problem, but introduces new problems. So its a bad solution, it was the first solution BHVR tried back in the early days and it was SO abusable. Just loop the Killer next to the hooked Survivor and the two other survivors can do gens forever depending on how good the looper is.
-
Good idea
-
2v8 already is based game. its the best game mode I think. 👍️

Our design team is looking at ways in which to make Legion viable in the game mode, so far they're not happy with the things we've internally tested, hence we will kill switch them for the next iteration in November until there's a way which we feel that Legion can be in the mode in a way that works.
Honestly I think Legion's biggest problem is how Deep Wound grew out of their Power and now the gameplay is mending simulator, running fast and wall hacks via Killer Instinct.
I suggest to rework Legion into a Melee Trickster Hybrid, method of downing is Old Legion or That Dirt addon we dont have anymore. Their method of attacks should be many small cuts made in a running frenzy, meaning Legion chases could be more about running than any other Killer, boosting not only the Killer but the Survivor's speed. Once a set amount of cuts are made, damage state is taken. The Killer instinct should have a way shorter range.
Currently not a fan of their gameplay as Survivor nor Killer. And I know Legion is hated for thier mending simulator gameplay.
-
This guy is complaining that BHVR is listening to other Killers who said It felt very hand-holding and instead of realizing this he says BHVR cant read their own data. MY GUY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE OPINIONS.
That being said I agree, I AM SAD to SEE basekit BBQ gone, ####ing hold my hand, I dont care I think its super usefull to have.
and it pushes the game along. -
Of the problems new players face, not having all the perk is not an issue. There are already far more issues with their general gameplay etc, than them not having any of the best perks. You say its a struggle for experienced players to guide new ones, but as one who have done that multiple times I can say it isnt a problem.
Good perks are only good in the right hands.
-
@fussy said:
I actually super glad it's gone, because it was not "basekit bbq" at all. Unlike BBQ, it just showed survivors with low hook states. And this info could really be harmful to me as killer, misleading me into chases I don't want or don't need to take.
BBQ is great, because after unhook I can collect info about map and make decision based on that, PTB form is just taking your hand and saying "oh now you are going here, don't make decisions, just follow". And it's awful way to play the game. Left alone the fact it just keeps me away from my goals as killer.
So I hope they will never reintroduce this mechanic, unless it will be actual BBQ instead.Im sorry to hear that you disliked the feature because it let you into chases you didnt want or need.
But im proposing that this time, you can just chose to not act on it. See if that works for you. -
@nikodemo said:
Why not make it so the person last hooked cannot gain a hook state until they perform a conspicuous action?
Wouldn't that ensure that tunneling is not optimal?
But you see the problem then is Bully Squad like play, the person who cant gain a hookstate then have infinite chance to get in the Killer's way and annoy them and waste their time without any risk. One system that a poor player need is something a good player can take a bloody the eye of the Killer with.
If you see this problem, it makes sense why BHVR decided they are only gonna make tunneling much harder to do instead of making it impossible.

I mean, we can clearly see that Behavior doesn't care about that since they refused to release the good anti tunnel PTB and instead made a joke of an anti tunnel system.
If they actually cared about those goals they would have released the last PTB live. That is untrue, because the that PTB's anti tunnel system goes against goal 3.
-
There is no hand holding in ensuring all players get a chance to play other things than being chased and on hook for 4 minutes.
There are the goals they have, if you have a problem with their solution you gotta show why the goals or the solution wont follow.
-
It would be better if someone is downed in the void for more than 10 seconds, they fall back into the map.
-
Honestly blur at long distance would be a good way to hide and obscure things.

yes your partly to blame for that….i mean if the killer is tunneling 1 person out, what are the other 3 doing? it should be gens. if the killer can tunnel out 1 person and only 1 gen get done then thats serious misplay by the survivors. when all else fails, there's always the hatch as an escape option. did you go for hatch?
so when I'm killer and i hard tunnel at 5 gens, how are some people somehow getting gens done and escaping? they have to be doing it somehow.
Yes, Im doing Gens.

so when is it a case of skill issue? im an average player and im not having an issue. maybe you need more practice being stealthy? as others have pointed out, asian servers have higher escape rate and lower kill rate. what do these people have that you dont? what do i have that you dont? clearly your doing something wrong if nothing you do works but it works for others.
It would be a case of skill issue if I was new to the game and I didnt know what I was doing.
But come a tunneler then its over, just played today, once one teammate is dead its over no chance to comeback.
Had 2 games with a teammate dead at 4 gens left and this is my fault??? -

you dont have a choice but play 1 way? have you tried being less altruistic and stealthy? genuinly curious how you have no choice but play badly
No, I'm saying either choice I make always ends the same.

this whole no data thing swings both ways. you have no data to show people have no choice. your assuming people are forced to play 1 way with no freewill which makes no sense. i might not have hard fact numbers but logic dictates people have freewill and a choice how they play the game. once again, can you answer why people are willingly unhooking infront of the killers face and then complain about tunneling? can you answer why people are not playing stealthy like me so the killer cant tunnel what they cant find? other than their own choice, i cant see why people are making these decisions.
I don't need data to show they have no choice cause that is not my claim about others,
I make the claim that I don't have a choice in it. -
@runningguy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4019116#Comment_4019116
- literally every single match i have…. hundreds of matches where people make stupid decisions that enable tunneling. yet i can counter it with minimal issues. how is that? its the choices we make in the match. But the people that play differently and loop well dont get tunneled or if they do its at the detriment to the killer.
- even as killer i hard tunnel at 5 gens every time…am i getting 100% kill rate? no. which means there are counters to it and being killer i can see what counters work against my tunneling and what doesnt. thats how im able to counter it as survivor. i dont have anything special that others dont have. all i do i change my play style…thats it. thats something literally anyone can do, even soloq players.
- what proof do you have that it cant be countered? bare in mind myself and others are currently countering it.
- already said about looping better so its less appealing for the killer, play stealthy so killer cant start tunneling, dont unhook in front of killers face, crank out gens asap while killer is focused on 1 player….means 3 others can do gens in peace. these points have not once had a valid argument against them. every time i say "change play style, it works" there is no argument against it, people just refuse to do it.
so no data, ok cool anecdote, but it does not prove your argument.
Honestly I like your argument "change your play style" but it has a fatal flaw that you have no proof everyone is refusing to play better. So you seem to just assume alot about other people.
-
@runningguy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4019102#Comment_4019102
out of choice. so if more killers started refusing to counter looping then we should get looping removed? you know perfectly well how many survivors would have something to say about killers flat out refusing to use simple counters thats available to them. its laziness and stubbornness, plain and simple. survivors have the means to counter it, they have the choice to change play style, they choose not to then demand the tactic gets removed. interesting precedent to set, doesnt sound healthy for the game to act like a child and say "i know i can counter it but i wont do it, i will complain about it instead and say how awful of a time im having because of MY OWN CHOICE"
What data or proof you have you have substantiate your claim that Survivors fail to counter tunneling out of choice???
