Regardless of the fact that DS is a bad 'anti-tunnel' perk, my point was that old DS gave an exceeding amount of value for what it was: a one time use perk that could be avoided - AT HIGH COST - for the Killer. Which is the same as NOED. Sure, survs can avoid it, but it has a tremendous cost to avoid.
And my point was thats still true for ds. If i down someone that just got off hook i am well aware, and even still assume, im about to get stabbed. The only thing thats changed with ds is if i see you on a gen injured and you just got off hook, game on

Don't most Killers also want the match over quick? The more time survs have, the more gens they can get done. DBD is all about time. If you don't get at least 2-3 gens done before the first hook, survs are going to have hard time. If the Killer doesn't do the same, they're going to have a hard time.
Totems, and doing them, take survs away from doing the objective that let's them WIN for something that might not even be in play. Hunting totems to cleanse them might very well kill a solo team. Not because they did anything wrong, but because they extended the match.
Isn't that same as old DS? Killers had to fear it because it kept them doing their primary objective?
It still does, ds still functions in the way it always has, it just stops giving you invincibility once its clear youre not being tunneled

Again, you are failing to comprehend.
YES, NOED wasting time without pay-out is a flaw. Because THAT is what incentivises people NOT to do totems. If you clear 4 out of 5 and get nothing for it, then you effectively get punished for doing those 4! If you clear 5 out of 5 and the killer doesn't run NOED, then you effectively get punished for doing those 5!
This is why I -stopped- doing totems except to charge Inner Strength: It is a way better tactical option to not bother with totems, in -all- situations. The ONLY time you might want to do a totem is if it is in a difficult to memorise/difficult to cleanse position, and you know the locations of other totems.
You're not meant to do all 5 on your own, so if YOU could not get all 5 bones, then your team also failed.
So unless your teammates are doing their part, you doing totems could very well just end up hampering you, really badly.
This is your problem: You are running this mindset entirely in a realm of theory. In practicality, this is not a tenable or effective strategy.
YOU are deciding not to try for 5 bones.
You are -legitimately- not reading my posts.
I tried to do this. I tried to get all five done, with DetHunch and Inner Strength in my build to help facilitate it, and it just doesn't work. It is just not an effective strategy. In all the matches I ran that, I had one NOED blocked, and that was against a killer bad enough to stretch the game out for that badly.
I have countered NOED more than that though, but in all other cases, I -didn't- do totems and got rewarded for it by finding NOED after it had gone live, which was possible because I -didn't- cleanse the totems I found.
I don't have an issue with the idea of survivors having to do totems. I wouldn't mind if NOED forced me to do that.
I am demonstrating to you that NOED does the exact opposite of what you say it does.
You do not counter NOED by doing bones. That is not my opinion, that is the objective strategic fact.
Personally I agree. Best strat is to ingnore it, if it activates, leave, let the killer have his 1k. I feel the same way when im the 1 on the hook. Otherwise you run the risk of him having blood warden too. Some of us are sneaky with the blood warden

Again, you missed the point. Its like a trend here it seems. The point is, no matter what survivors have to be active during the match doing their objectives to have a chance to escape. NOED gives the killer insane power to get 4k if only ONE dull totem is up by then. I have already told you and said in other posts how focusing on totems every match let alone getting them all every match just for the chance there may be noed is unreasonable. The totems all too often spawn very far apart and not only do I have to get to them but I have to avoid the killer and also do some team saving inbetween depending on the situation. Its not as simple as just run to the totems and hold M1 on them.
Its not that its unreasonable, its that its a waste of time if you can just leave when it pops.
"The point is, no matter what survivors have to be active doing their objective in order to have a chance at escape"
You get that this isnt true right? It takes significantly more time to down hook and find 4 different survivors 12 times than it does to do gens. This is why killers resort to camping/hooking/slugging.
Just to give you the smallest example. Lets assume it takes on average 7 seconds for a killer to hook a survivor, this includes the animation and walking to a hook. That equates to 21 seconds of generator time lost. Generators only take 80 seconds to do. You lose an entire generator just hooking 4 survivors. Hooking them. Not chasing and downing them. JUST hooking them. This is why bones exist, its why hexes were added to the game. Because generators as the survivors sole objective isnt enough. Its why i dont have much empathy in terms of noed, i dont even get mad when i die to it. Its part of the game and for good reason.

No one is saying they can’t use what’s in the game. The point is that it’s imbalanced
Holding w isnt why its imbalanced though. Its just a tactic to counter some killers. Other killers can be looped to #########. Its not imbalanced because of that either. The imbalance lies in how ling it takes to get hooks vs how long it takes to get a gen done. I broke the math down for someone else in another thread, whether its looping or holding w or breaking los or whatever other counters exist, the fact is even if a kilker could keep 2 survivors off gens at all times the game is over in 5 minutes. Its just simple math. If you somehow keep 3 off gens at all times the game is over in 8. Its simply not enough time to get 12 hooks, even 6 is a struggle against survivors that dont leave gens unless you physically make them.
-
@Trickstaaaaa said:
The people that gripe about this sound silly, do you guys even realize? You are telling survivors you can't run, you got loop us. Like this a horror game running a major part of it. This is pitiful survivors can't run. How about stop chasing people that are clearly good loopers. Start going after the weak links. Or I know what you mean when you get a 3 gen but all 4 survivors are still alive, and if you chase one you will lose. In that case I'm sorry, when that happens to me I usually accept that I will lose. At that point just accept the loss. Anyway I'm guessing once dead hard gets nerfed, you guys are gonna go after sprint burst I'm 100% convinced.
Never accept defeat. Its a game of attrition at that point. Theyll get bored and start making mistakes long before i do 😈

The killer doesn't have to do generators or worry about cleansing totems. The killer can literally do nothing the entire match THEN start moving around and have a chance to 4k if they have NOED. I thought that point was self explanatory honestly.
Do you have any idea the likelyhoid of downing 4 survivors if you do that as killer? 😂 its very small because most survivors just leave when they see noed is in play. It was self explanatory, i was pointing out the ridiculousness of the statement which is several differenymt ways. The obvious being if the killer isnt moviing all game you can take as much time as you want to break totems, theres no rush. If the killer has noed, he still has to traxk down, cgase and down all 4 of you in about 30 seconds. If you and/or most if your team cant get out in 30 secs i dont really know what to tell you. And ladt but certainly not least, the killers objective is to prevent you from escaping. Your ibjective is to escape. Gens and totems are what stand in tge way of that. If a killer is able to 4k every single game never moving till after gens are done, thats on you

I won't be for much longer. Probably when the event is over I'll be taking a very long break from DBD. All my friends have already quit the game and playing solo is always a gamble on how much the killer actually cares about their rank.
Also when you say things like "I'm going to run this just for you" then there really is no other way for me to interpret that than you wanting to do it for the sake of trolling or just making me or just survivors in general more frustrated with the game.
They wouldnt be frustrated with the game if they just left when noed pops. Its really not hard to counter, either do bones, or leave when you see it. Bones were introduced for a reason. Theyre meant to be a secondary objective. If you just want to slam gens and leave, how is that fun for the killer? Noed leaves that threat there, if you dont do tge secondary objective then youre taking the risk 🤷♂️
It was a jab at you because you seem to be really angry about something that has a simple solution. Drop one of your meta perks for small game, or detectives hunch and do bones

You're nothing special for doing it anyway. I see NOED literally in most of my matches and guess what? I don't have fun in most of my matches.
Then why still play?
Not for trolling, its a fun build, especially on fred 😁

@KateMain86 said:
NOED is by far the most pathetic perk a killer can run to literally give them INSANE power in the end game all because survivors didn't ignore the main objective to do totems which does NOTHING to power the exit gates. I have literally tried running totem builds like crazy to try and find all of the totems every match and it is ALWAYS the same outcome. Either everyone is dead by the time I find them all or so many people are dead hook and dead with 3+ gens up that its not even worth trying at that point. NOED is an extremely overpowered perk that killers use to do nothing but give them a huge end game advantage and rewards them getting a single M1 on a survivor regardless of their health state. I will never be convinced otherwise that killers have way more power, control and advantage in a match than survivors do in any situation and NOED is one of the perks that literally ruins this game and completely ignores how well survivors played throughout the match so long as just 1 dull totem is up at the end. Either lower the amount of totems that spawn to 3 or get rid of this perk altogether. I am beyond sick of seeing killers win from this one perk.
Im going to run this just for you 😁
-
After 5 to 10 games i can absolutely confirm this is running better off an ssd. Like way better. Even my hits are connecting like they used to. I still get the occasional stutter but its LIGHT YEARS ahead of where it was 2 weeks ago and feels more like it did a year agi.
-
Moris in their current form in no way compare to keys. Youre already on death hook when its used. I dont use them because i dont care, but the two are no longer comparable.
The only way youve been mori'd without being hooked is if you were the last survivor and they had a yellow one or were hacking. Michael has the timbstone he can run so that explains that one.
Keys end the game prematurily. Ive had many where i was def going to win till they used a key. Its #########, moris, youre already dead anyway 🤷♂️

Since i realuzed how busted the gens are, ive rarely lost, even when the survivors run the offering 😬

Well you can say that the map is balanced all you want, but you have to admit it’s still extremely boring to play on. The safe pallets on the map offer no mind games and is just a brainless drop pallet and run simulator. The map layout is confusing. It’s just a badly made map.
I think what they did was cranked the bits that each side hate to 10. Killers hate safe pallets, theres 25 of them.
Survivors hate a 3 gen situation, this one has a few of them.
I dont mind it, its different than the other maps in that way

Then the killer kills 2 and gets a 3rd while in chase with NOED because there is no time to do it all. Probably a 4th if he's/she's fast.
By magic? Not sure how many different ways this needs to be explained to you. You already got 1 to 2 gens by the time he got his first down. He face capms, 3 survivors can do 3 to 4 gens by the time that survivor dies on hook. Then, JUST LEAVE. Open the gates and dip. He MIGHT get 1 person. MAYBE. Thats what actually happens to face campers in reds (assuming everyone doesnt swarm the hook).

I mean, Power_Guy's argument is that it already is.
And honestly, with the right rework, NOED turning basekit is actually a good way to make totems into a pressing matter for the survivors. As it currently is, it does the opposite.
Imagine NOED being baseline, but instead of its current effect, it becomes 'When the exit gates are powered, a random surviving dull totem becomes a hex totem. While the hex is active, all survivors are exposed, and the killer gains 4% haste. This effect lasts 30 seconds per dull totem remaining at the time of activation.'
-THAT- would make survivors do bones.
Survivors just 99 the gate, that woukd make it useless

You're not listening.
I'm not pointing at NOED 'doing it's job' and saying it's not working how -I- want it to work.
I'm pointing at NOED specifically doing the exact opposite of what you say it does.
On a superficial level, at a quick glance, the intuitive solution is, yes, to do bones. But if you take the full picture into consideration, it reverses, and survivors are strongly encouraged never to touch a dull totem, only to record its location.
You're more likely to counter NOED by never touching a dull totem than you are by cleansing all five. Which also means that the background risk you're talking about -isn't working-.
NOED would work exactly as you say it does if it was A) bound by the number of totems left, as opposed to whether there is any totem left and B) guaranteed to appear.
The fact that you don't know whether or not it's there is an incentive not to do bones.
The fact that there's a risk of it becoming stronger if you clear the totems you -can- find is an incentive not to do bones.
And I voluntarily waste time on bones because I run Detective's Hunch and Inner Strength on my main build. Doesn't mean that NOED isn't a design flaw.
What a wonderful argument for making noed basekit. Thank you

Except that's not how NOED works. NOED -doesn't- incentivise doing bones, it's the exact opposite. If you invest time hunting totems, you run the risk of wasting time when NOED isn't in play. And if you do all the totems you find, NOED will move to the totem you didn't find.
NOED -would- incentivise doing totems if it either picked a dull totem at the start and didn't light it up, or if its efficacy was based on however many totems are left when the fifth gen is completed.
Doing totems makes NOED more effective, not less. As Orion mentions, the actual strat is to not cleanse the totems you find and instead just check them once the fifth gen pops. But that's still tremendously risky, fully RNG based, and impossible to coordinate in solo queue.
NOED is just an absolute mess of a perk.
The real counter to noed is to ignore totems altogether and just leave immediately. The killer most of the time will get a 1k from it

She already is. I rarely lose and user her against an average of 4-minute gen speeds. She's up there with Huntress and Oni, and has the best add-on set in the game.
However, she's also one of the hardest killers in the game and requires a lot of mechanical skill, strategic planning and some serious improvisation, which is why most Plague's absolutely suck. No-one likes playing a killer that makes you work for it unless it's Nurse or Deathslinger, apparently.

Cleansing totems is not a NOED counter.
You can clean 4 out of 5 and the only totem you can't find is the one that ends up getting NOED, making it MORE difficult to get rid of than it might've been if you hadn't cleansed the totems you could find.
You can clean 5 out of 5 and then it turns out the killer didn't have NOED, meaning you wasted a ton of time to counter nothing.
You can clean 5 out of 5 totems and then it turn out the killer did have NOED, at which point it still worked about as well as Ruin or Thanatophobia.
Seriously, cleansing totems does not counter NOED.
And comparing NOED, which requires all five totems to be destroyed, to Devour Hope, which requires one totem to be destroyed, is especially nonsensical.
Even if NOED isn't a problem balance-wise, it is a problem design-wise and should be reworked to better reward totem cleansing as its counter.
I think thats the point of boon totems. To encourage totem cleansing. Its the "carrot or the stick" boon totems will be the carrot, noed the stick. Guess we'll see, im guessing

Why? She's one of the strongest killers in the game and knowing when and how to infect people is a part of her skill cap, quite a large one on fact. Making her power easier to use would be a bit detrimental, given how little you can do against a good Plague. (She's like the OG PH mixed with Bubba to go against.)
It would be like removing Oni's absorption slowdown and increasing his passive gain, currently he has to choose between chasing or powering up but being able to do both would be rather oppressive. Same concept, really.
I think she sucks. I rarely lose against her and rarely bo well with her. Most tier lists put her c-b tier. Changing this would make her A tier

The unhooked and injured survivor is not the easiest. First of all borrowed time is a thing, second of all I have seen many killers ignore other injured survivors to go after the recently unhooked.
There is no excuse for that. If the devs knew how to deal with tunneling/camping, it wouldn’t be a thing.
You need to stop playing this way, because soon you won’t be able to win without making it unfair for the other side. If the devs make it bannable how would you win?
If the devs made it bannable youd lose 75% of the killer base. Enjoy your lobby sim i guess 🤷♂️
-
Genuine question op. You come across a gen thats at 75%. Do you walk away and work a different gen that doesnt have any progress or do you work that gen?
Because if youre working the 75% gen you have 0 room to complain. If youve ever worked a gen injured you have 0 room to complain. If youve ever left someone on hook for more than 20 secs to finish a gen, you have 0 room to complain. If youve finished a gen in a killers face you have 0 room to complain.
I dont need to defend tunneling anymore than you need to defend those things

Plagues infection only goes up when she's puking on someone or when they are sprinting/performing an action. Walking, crouching and crawling do not affect infection.

Gotcha, i guess i just never noticed. They should change that imo

You do make a valid and strong point doing all the math into this and believe me, I do appreciate the time you took to do that. I just never see any of this in the game sadly and I don't really want them to be nice but more considerate when it comes down to the events that BeHavior releases for us the Community. I as well as other people would have liked to see both killers and survivors working together to get as much out of the event as humanly possible like I don't even mind if at the end they kill me or not but it just seems that between the end of 2020 and all of 2021 this game has just gotten worse with the type of players this game has attracted like what is the point of all 4 survivors and the killer adding 5 cakes that add 525% more with blood points just to end the game in seconds if not mins just to get 30k blood points that a massive waste.
This about this 525% of 25k = 131,250 and that's if you make 25k which if you're working together and farm you'll most defiantly make that even more especially if you add Perks like Barbecue and Chilli - Beasts of Prey - Distressing - Thrill of the Hunt for Killer / No One Left Behind - Prove Thyself - We're Gonna Live Forever fir Survivor
If we actually worked together for just the event then it will be 100% worth it that way you can blow all those sweet blood points on your favorite killers or survivors. After the event play, however, your heart feels like playing I would just like for all of us to just take advantage of the event and I bet a lot of people do is all.
Im not opposed to farming when survivors want to, most of the ones i come across are slamming gens and trying to escape and get their crowns. I need my points too so i have to stop them. If i try and be nice im lucky to get 4 hooks before theyre out the door 🤷♂️

That’s not every single game you played. I’m talking about the game as a whole. Not for people that have played 5k hours so they’re like robots. Even then some players run EVEN YOU in circles because of their synergy, and because they’ve played longer. Half of these perks are useless because of the way the game plays now. There’s a reason people run Corrupt, Ruin/Undying all the time. Nothing else works as good regardless of skill. Because. Of. How. The. Game. Works. It’s awful. Just admit it. You don’t want change because you’ll have to learn something new. Lol
What? I dont have to learn anything new, i already know how to slug 😂
And yes, some of the survivors are really good. Ill have plenty of time to chase them when their entire team has their dick in the dirt.
When you get better and have access to more perks youll see most survivors arent very good. Most teams have 1 or 2 that suck in chase, those are the ones you want to get rid of early. Then you have time to chase the really good one. Then there are some games where theyre all good, those games you camp your heart out

You would still get a 4k game by not tunneling and removing them from the match. The only reason you eliminate survivors right away is to stop one more from doing gens. Whereas if the time is LONGER for more players you’ll take the time to hook everyone. Then when they’re all in final phase you eliminate them one by one before they get out. You would time WHEN to slug. Slug all four at once when they’re all injured. Slug when 3 are left. Etc. Again, survivors have more than enough arsenal/comms to make slugging nonexistent anyway.
Believe what you want to, im just telling you what i as a r1 killer with 3k hours in the game woukd do if this were the game and i was playing sweaty. Id run a slug build. And it woukd work, a lot, with gens being that slow

You’re not accounting the variables that exist already that would mitigate this tipping scale factor like perks, add ons, items (Health Kits/Toolboxes), and sheer team synergy that would stop slugging altogether. With WGFL slugging is impossible. The moment you slug, and leave them there someone is ready to raise them up before you can blink. Watch any stream with a genuine team. They make jokes out of the killer because the amount of time it takes to do anything for them is reduced to NOTHING with their coop perks. Then off they run to heal/do gens before you reach them.
Bro. Ive got 3k hours in the game. I described my morning to you where i won 2 out 3 games doing nothing but slugging this morning, and that was without gens taking 120 seconds a piece. No, slugging is not remotely impossible 😂
