Sigh
-
Yeah this is the lag issue everyone is having. You could see her dead hard which freaked out the server, she probably juked right after and you didnt see her do it because the server couldnt figure out where she was
-
Agreed, thats always felt like a better solution. And it shouod be applied periodically. Example: After 20 secs on the hook recieve 1000bps, applied every 20 secs. This would incentivize the hooked person to stay which screws the camper

I can't advise that, cos I don't even know if that is the issue - it's what I suspect is the issue and some of the videos I've seen seem to confirm that - which I have passed on to the team to investigate. Also not sure about external drives because there might be input lag, there's no way would I tell you to go and spend money on something that might/might not help to fix the issue for you.
I feel you. I think thats probably part of the issue, there also seems to be something going on occasionally in how the console interacts with the server.
So for example im playing as a survivor and a status effect gets applied to me like sloppy butcher, screen freezes for a couple of seconds but only i see it, not the killer. Thats probably the ssd like we talked about.
BUT sometimes the killer can also see me skipping around on the screen. If the killer can see it, it cant only be on the console side, but how the server is interacting with the console. These seem to be 2 different issues that probably have a root cause. Obviously im guessing here i just know enough to know theres a difference between when only i can see it and when both players can see it

Last i checked survivors preferred the interaction with killers in the 1v1 where both sides express their skills at the game and specifically hate holding M1 because it's boring as ######### but
If that were true they woukdnt ######### about tunneling 🤷♂️

"YOU TUNNELED ME"
"Who are you again?"
"The Nea."
"You have no idea how little that narrows it down. Do you have any idea how many Nea's I've tunneled? For you, this was a major event. For me, it was tuesday."
Im stealing that 😂

That's actually what I'm suspecting also, so it's interesting seeing you post that.
I used to have issues on PC - playing as a Survivor I'd get a brief freeze once all gens were completed and the killer had NOED. My friend had the issue that he'd have a brief freeze when he reached bloodlust 1 - we both switched to SSD's and the issue stopped.
I think i can get an ssd for my xbox one s, wonder if that woukd fix it 🤔

of course but what I’m saying is even against 4 decent loopers legion can’t do well compared to other often considered bottom 5 killers
Myers: Can sneak up and tier 3 for instant down
Clown: Has decent anti loop to end chases
Trapper: Can end chases instantly with 1 trap
Trickster: Can end chases slow but somewhat consistently
Pig: Better slowdown than legion and potential anti loop with add ons.
Legion while he can injure everyone unlike others like Myers, wraith, and ghostie can’t follow up on it
With trapper theyre just running to the next loop and theyre buddy is disabling the trap
Pigs antiloop sucks against the kind of survivor your talking about because they just leave the loop as soon as you drop down. Also, once tge team realuzes you dont suck at looping yourself they start to heal which i would argue is more consistent a slowdown than her.
Trickster is the most easily looped killer in the game and has 0 map pressure, this is why hes so bad.
Clown, sure he can end chases decently but takes him longer to get 2 hits AND his map pressure is #########
Mikey might get 2 or 3 instadowns a game TOPS, less against really good survivors. Hes criminally OVERRATED.
Legion keeps most of the team exposed through the whole match, as the pallets disappear and the map gets smaller this becomes a serious problem

And if there is no 3 gen because the survivors played well? What about main building windows and long wall set ups that spawn commonly?
Fact is legion can not consistently end chases against even a decent survivor on most maps leading him to being underwhelming. Any killer that is played well can do well consistently against red ranks even trickster
And any killer outside nurse and spirit can get cucked hard in the way youre talking about. Im not saying hes A tier, im saying hes not in the bottom 5.
-
There probably will be at some point in the future, especially on survivor side. Nemesis just depends and a little less likely (but certainly not impossible)
-
@Phasmamain said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2321480#Comment_2321480
What happens if they are all good? That’s what I’m basing them off since if they want to be viable against good teams they need to have anti loop
Then youre getting rid of pallets around the 3 gen. Theyre all injured, at least most of them will be if they arent running off and healing. Idgaf how good a survivir is, if theyre injured and have no pallets theyre boned. TL only lasts so long. Because legion is fast hes able to apply pressure to the whole team.
Im NOT claiming hes god tier, of course other killers are better, i am saying hes underrated. Legion played properly though, when the 3 gen gods are present, can be way more of a nightmare than people give them credit for. Hes better than Mikey, ill tell you that.
-
Yes, worse
-
@Phasmamain said:
Legion can be looped easily and one good survivor can make him lose a game. At least clown and trickster can get the down somewhat consistently
You arent playing him right. Using your ability you can figure out who the weak link is pretty quick. Prioritize that person for deletion. Thats the beauty of legion. If theyre all good then its a dog fight for the 3 gen, youre able to keep everyone injured and removing pallets around the 3 gen.

I mean the least viable against decent/good SWF teams.
Hard time deciding between Legion,Trickster,Trapper,Clown
Trickster. 100%. I can put up a fight with legion. Trapper a little less so. Clown and trickster would get demolished. Trickster would be laughed at. Ive played 4 man swfs with legion but i wish i could play a really good one. Just to know

@MrPenguin said:
Points and rank are a good first step, but there also needs to be a substantial in game benefit to help with the actual match. That or a fundamental rework of the hook/death system.
Example: no more 3 hook = dead, survivor team in total has 8-10 hooks , once the killer get that amount everyone gets sacrificed via EGC entity if not on hook and normal animation if on hook, remove hook timers.
Killers are encouraged to go after other survivors and survivor get camped less and get to play the game more. Reducing hook amount to adjust for the fact there will always be 4 survivors.
But I heavily doubt that ever happening at all considering we cant even get a communication wheel in game to help with solos or just a functioning game.
This wouldnt help a thing. Want to bet i can hook that claud 12 times before you can finish gens? 😂 theres a reason shes being tunneled. Shes really bad in chase and any idiot can hold m1 on a gen. What you would end up with here is 2 survivors who are yiur worst runners eating up all your hook states very quickly, or being slugged. Dead is dead. If all four of you are slugged then i still win with 4 hooks.
-
I can tell you that with most killer characters in the red ranks it is not possible to win or apply any real pressure without at times proxy camping/slugging/tunneling. Its just not. The game moves to fast. You can say im a bad killer all you want but its not just me, youll see killers i would consider better than me like ohtz doing the same. This is the game. If you limit killers ability to do thus WITHOUT somehow slowing the game down pretty signigicantly, it will kill thus game because NOBODY will be playing killer. It was built from the ground up this way, its in every facet of how they build the maps to how they balanced the perks. Id love to be able to go on linger chases with each and every survivor in turn then we can all hold hands and eat lollipops at the end and everyones a winner. This isnt that game, never will be. Bbq (the perk every killer runs that every survivor bitches about and wants nerfed) already encourages hooking different survivors and encourages leaving the hook.
You need to get over it, OR come up with viable solutions to slow the game down 🤷♂️
-
I wonder if somehow the nemesis .25 (or whatever it is) % hindered status is applying to other killers? He gives the hindered status effect but its so little it may as well not be there, would make sense if they somehow applied this to the hindered status effect AS A WHOLE instead of just to nemesis. 🤔
-
This is pretty good and i like most of it. Idk if fixing spawns and adding an early game collapse is enough to warrant nerfing gen regression perks though, that seems like a crazy trade off. Should be thoroughly tested AT HIGH RANKS first before going live

Let me get this straight.
You expect the unhooker to just stand around in plain site in front of the hook waiting for the Killer to come back so they don't tunnel the person that was on the hook??????
Then if they don't it's their fault your chasing the recently unhooked, absolutely mind boggling.
When you unhook someone its 100% your responsibility to make sure that person gets away from the hook safely and is healed. ESPECIALLY if the killer is near by. Its not the killers responsibility to make sure your fellow survivor is safe and having a good time. Thats absurd and ridiculous you think that way

Then you get those guys who bait out BT just to bodyblock me, and I go:
"Alright, muddafukkah you wanted my attention, you can have it."
And then I proceed to take 'em down again, get called a baby killer in endgame chat, say GGEZ, and move on with my day.
The other day i was running stbfl so was trying to ignore jill, but she followed me for like a minute straight constantly clicking her flashlight in my ear. I said exactly that "you want my attention you now have it," it didnt go well for her 😂

The game is balanced around Ruin being up, regardless of how fast it can be destroyed. Ruin is high risk, high reward or a coin flip so now high levels (us) are resorting to using a perk slot for Undying with the hopes of Ruin staying up a bit longer. Heres the problem... In more than a few games i had within a day Undying/Ruin got destroyed within the first minute of the match and notice i didnt say Ruin got destroyed, no BOTH Undying and Ruin have been getting destroyed in my games rather fast and back to back too which is discouraging because you only have two perks to use ( and in my case at rank 2 i play Freddy to get back to rank 1 and i have to power through teams with BBQ/Pop). I know some people will say just run Corupt/Pop but honestly i dont like Corrupt because it sometimes conflicts with my 3 gen strat so i prefer BBQ for a little more consistency.
Bottom line, as fun and or challenging killer can be it is in no way easy and because other perks dont really slow down gens too much (Thanatophobia, Dying Light) they are virtually useless against strong survivors who just power through the gens anyway, gens just go way too fast at high level.. So what im getting at is the very title of the thread. Expect your Undying/Ruin to get destroyed early and learn to play two perks. I think this is only the case because all other perks do very little without Ruin to win you the game or draw (2k and Brutal Killer), even Pig who has her own in game slowdown can lose or struggle with teams because of this so there you go. It would be nice to see at least 70% of killer perks to get buffed or do something with the gens, i dont know, something
With Freddy i like to run pop + eruption + discordance + thrilling when im in try hard mode, its a great build and ive beat some good teams with it already. With freds teleport ruin + undying isnt totally necessary. OR you can flip eruption into stbfl if youre comfortable ignoring the obsession, as it makes mid to late game chases faster so more pops.
I hate relying on hex perks for the exact reason youre talking about.

It has to be something to do with how the console and servers are interacting, its so bad that other players can see it too so its not straight up frame drops from the console hardware. Like if it were simply my console i would see it but the other players wouldnt, id just look like im awful at the game. The fact thst other players can see my character hard lagging, it has to be the servers. Since its not happening to pc it has to be something to do with how consoles are interacting with the servers. No idea what that could be since i dont work for bhvr IT.
Obviously im doing a lot of guessing here but seems logical 😂

Bubba is A tier, hag is a close second, docs good and clown. Your friend didnt steer you wrong.
Billy if youre decent with him but not as good as bubba.
Legion is interesting, if theyre hook bombing you can injure everyone quickly but you have to deal with fatigue, only really helps at egc far from exit gate.
Something nobody expects: doc + starstruck + iron grasp + agitation + stbfl + double calm.
Basement trapper of course is classic: run a bag and bloody coil + agitation + stbfl + iron grasp + starstruck. Get someone in the basement, cover every exit point.

Generally they don't get very far though as they run into stuff a lot in the process
Personally I have tried to stay away from the resource heavy killers (Nemesis, Freddy, Doc) with the hopes that it might help with the stuttering for the last gen peeps so I haven't seen TOO much of this kind of thing.

You see, you two guys spoke about what would happen to you - and it makes sense, you probably aren't developing a game with a playerbase so big that a few days with issues won't cost you anything.
BHVR has this asset, which makes them have no pressure when it comes to fixing.
I think thats exactly the problem. No pressure, its why their qa system doesnt work. Thats why people getting upset is good. It creates a lot of pressure

There's absolutely no excuse for a company the size of bhvr with the resources they have to release a product this unstable and buggy when it's their only piece of software.

Optimization is clearly something that after all this time should be adressed, but the current insults made due to the bugges map are still exagerated. Of course, everyone is angry that they can't play on the new map, but we should also understand that repairing it isn't done with a finger snap. This issue is 2 weeks old, and if something this serious hasn't been repaired, it means there are clearly problems occuring with the fixing.
The issue is 2 years old, its been getting worse with almost every update. Im not trashing tgem, but i certainly get it and its not completely undeserved

Q1: If they would have known the cause of the issue, be sure it would have been fixed. They know the issue, but right now, if I ask you to tell me why it crashes and what needs to be repaired, can you tell me? Probably not, because you would have to investigate, and if you can't find the source, you can't repair anything. (If your car isn't starting, you now the issue, but in order to fix it, you have to know why it isn't starting)
Q2: Valid feelings? Yes, of course. No one says they shouldn't be upset. But they also shouldn't trash down the company because they aren't able to find the source of the issue.
1) had they done proper qa we wouldnt be having this conversation. This has been an ongoing issue for several years now on console, this update only made it worse. I understand they dont know what the problem is, that was fine 2 years ago and id have more sympathy were it not an ongoing problem made worse every chapter.
2) After 2 years of broken promises and platitudes what do you expect people to do? Just keep taking it and being nice to daddy bhvr?
-
@Pukenplag said:
I absolutely love people talking about the new map not being back yet. Here's the trick: before they fix something, they must find the cause of the issue. And if they can't manage to find what causes the crashing, they can't fix it. People always talk about how bugs aren't fixed, but no one ever questions what bug fixing takes.
People need to chill and look at some gamedev tutorials to observe that all these issues aren't fixed by pressing the fix button.
I work in IT, as a developer for a specific piece of software. If I put something out this bugged Id be fired or at the very least seriously reprimanded. And if it took 2 weeks to fix we'd lose clients. Dont try and shame people for being upset. Their feelings are perfectly valid when they paid for the product.

Whilst I completely understand your frustration - we have acknowledged the performance issues and advised that it's being worked on. It's not something that's being ignored. Sadly, it's not an easy fix and whilst small fixes have been implemented up to know (including today's hotfix which should have resolved the "out of memory" issue), we are aware that other fixes need to be done and the team is working on these.
Unfortunately these issues have been present for several years now. They only got worse with the update. Id love to believe they'll be fixed now but I've been told this for 2 years so it's just hard to believe at this point. I feel like this conversation is going to nowhere, but I'll do a last try. After that, I'll let you to your convinctions.
1) The killer doesnt make totems a secondary objective. Once again, totems are here to make Hex perks available, and some survivor perks aswell. Secondary objectives dont exist in this game. I guess we can say some killer powers are an objective by itself, like reversed beartraps or plague fountains. But totems definitely are not this type of objective. Totems are not a secondary objective because you think Noed provides this feeling.
2) Agreed, dead hard for distance is an abuse, for example. But comparing it to Noed, once again, is a nonsense. Make a different thread if you want to talk about that.
3) Thats what I say. Noed and exhaustion perks are different subjects. If you want to talk about chase time reduction, noed is not a candidate. Talk about stbfl, yes. But the purpose of noed is not to reduce chasing time. It's to one shot at the end of the trial with no pre-requis.
"You dont have to earn your exhaustion perk"...
I dont say killer has to earn token to use Noed. It was a balance suggestion. Dont put words into my mouth. It may not be optimal, maybe. But it opens a debate, compared to the "killer good survivor bad" (or the contrary) cliche of discussion we find on this forum.
The idea is to find a solution to make the game balanced. Plus, exhaustion perks are limited and situational. 3 second speed or dead hard, require 45-60 seconds recovery. Once you know which survivor is running which perk in the trial, it's the killer job to play around it. A low rank killer wont notice the Meg havin 3sec sprint. It's not that impactful. The killers have powers anf their brain to counter that. Dead hard for distance, once again, questionable.
But it has nothing to do with Noed. Noed is a subject by itself and has no point of comparison into the killer or survivor loadout.
1) NOED is a hex perk 😬
2) its not nonsense. One extends the chase by 15 seconds the other reduces chase by 15 seconds. I dont need to start a new thread, these things are related like it or not
3) They really arent, theyre two sides of the same coin, you ignoring that doesnt change it
You offered a balance suggestion, and i asked why you think its ok for noed to have to be earned but not your exhaustion perk. Nobidy put words in your mouth, its what you said.
Noed and exhaustion perks DO balance eachother out, thats literally my point. You get to extend chase by 15 secs, i get to reduce chase by 15 seconds. Thats called balance. Noed is also limited and situational (just like exhaustion perks). Its not just a 3 second speed up, its erasing a mistake and dropping a pallet which leads to another pallet or vault. It takes about 15 seconds to get a hit, dead hard extends that abput another 15 seconds
Survivirs have have perks and their brain to coubter noed (see how this keeps happening? I told you, theres nothing you can say about noed that cant be said about exhaustion perks).
You can keep saying noed and exhaustion arent relatable, doesnt change the fact that they absolutely are
-
