I really think the developers should focus on reigning in the tone of their franchise - it's beginning to waver and seep into strange territories that it was never intended to wander.
The property is losing its way.
It has been reaching in odd ways, but I like that. All-Kill is a great reflection of modern horror, Hellraiser added more niche horror, Sadako Rising explored psychological horror, Roots of Dread will soon be exploring the Cronenberg/Carpenter-end of body horror, and these Attack on Titan skins will be exploring the vast well of anime horror. I love the variety and can't wait for more avenues to be explored, such as indie horror, gothic horror, and sci-fi horror (Stranger Things isn't really good enough as Alien or Predator in that regard). Variety is the spice of life, after all. Besides, Attack on Titan's incredibly depressing, incredibly bleak tone fits DbD's very well.

Alright, that makes sense, I like what you're going for there thematically.
The Hypnosis is something I'm kinda conflicted over. I can see it being really strong when combined with his mirror teleport, but I can also see it being a source of frustration when doing so. Either someone summons you and you use hypnosis to get a free down, or they succeed and you've just been both ripped away from a chase against your will, and you're now stunned for three seconds. At least the latter part of scenario 2 would be your own fault though. It being obsession based definitely limits its usefulness though. You can only use it on one specific survivor on a time, and if they succeed on the skill checks, you're now stunned for 3 seconds. I think obsession based perks are fine, but powers based around obsessions are kinda questionable.
As for the voice lines, I can't really speak to their accuracy/autehtnicity cause I've never actually seen candyman.
Mainly, the hypnosis is to both play on how he works in the movie and give him a power that isn't, "Artist/Plague, but bees." It's based around the obsession because he doesn't care for others, simply cutting them down for disrespecting his legend, but his obsession, Helen, he takes extra care with. He hypnotizes her, and her alone, with his words, trying to draw her further into his legend. If he could do it to anyone, not only would it be too powerful, but it would lose the dark romance and intimacy with the obsession that makes Candyman so unique. Plus, it makes sense with his rules. If you're hypnotized, you have three options. By standing there and not even trying to fight back, you're submitting, admitting that he's as powerful as he thinks he is. Choosing to perform He's Not Real and winning is doing what Helen does in the movie. You take your will and you tell him, to his face, "I'm not afraid of you. You aren't as powerful as you think," and get rewarded for your willpower. Doing the same and failing, which I see as being pretty easy, considering the yellow glyph/Madness skill check combo, is harnessing your will only to have it broken. Not only are you submitting, but he has broken your will and showed you his power, making you believe him even more, which fuels him even more. It may not be the strongest thing in the world, it may not be the coolest to use, but it's thematic, and I am of the opinion that an authentic, thematic power is better than a mechanically sound one. I mean, just look at the difference between the Hell Priest and Sadako's authentic powers vs...Freddy. To me, the best thing a killer can be in this game is unique and authentic to the source, though I will admit that I see where you're coming from.
And to say it, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend you watch Candyman. It's an incredibly unique pseudo-slasher and currently stands as my favorite slasher movie ever made. It's meaningful, gothic, and darkly romantic, and has so much to enjoy in terms of music, aesthetics, and acting. A huge recommendation from me. And, of course, thanks for the critique.

Forcing the killer to come to your location is definitely an interesting dynamic. It's kinda like Pinhead's teleport, except the killer doesn't have a say in the matter. I can imagine this being immensely frustrating at times, but the survivor becoming exposed feels like a dcently fair tradeoff, but the exposed time would need to be bumped up to like, 60 seconds or so. Either way I could see myself being very very frustrated if I was on the verge of getting a kill I really needed just to be pulled away against my will. In general I'm just not the biggest fan of abilities that can just kinda move people against their will.
What do these character's perks do though? Im curious about them.
That's fair. I look at making powers as authentic to the source material as possible, so I wrote it to piss you off as much as it pisses off Daniel. When people, "Say his name," both in-movie and in-game, they are actively telling him, "I'm not afraid of you. Come get me, you son of a b****." It's a survivor actively taunting you, refusing to believe in your power, so though they get a slight assist for their bravery, they should still fall to the rage of the Candyman. I'll up the Exposed time to 60 seconds to really make it serious (I was going to do that initially, but figured it would sound unfair) but I hope the point of its feeling is gotten across.
As for the perks, no clue. I just thought up some neat names and figured other people better at designing fun perks could figure it out for me. I did have an idea for Hex: Believe In Me:
Hex: Believe In Me.
They will know your power and won't live long enough to forget it.
When a survivor sees you for the first time (working the same as Michael's Stalking), they become affected by the Hex. As affected survivors see you, especially when successfully using your power (as in getting score events), or as they spend time near each other, you become more powerful. Lunge distance increases, break time decreases, vault time decreases, and if any survivors die, all affected survivors scream, become Exposed for 10 seconds, and become Oblivious and Exhausted for 30 seconds. All of these effects go away if the Hex totem is broken, and this Hex can't be moved to other totems by any means. It's one and done.
I want to ask, alongside this perk idea, what do you think of the rest of it? Mainly, do you think his memento mori, obsession-based hypnosis, and voice lines fit him, or would you suggest any changes?
-
H.U.N.K. and Ethan are my personal favorites, but Carlos and Joe skins would be neat too.
-
More options is never a bad thing.
-
I don't think the older version would be legendary, since it's the same character. My hope is for a Dr. Loomis legendary.
-
I like RPD (surprising, I know), but Haddonfield is a lot better for me.
-
All of the above. Also because I like to torture myself.
-
Deathslinger is my preferred killer, but I acknowledge that I'm in the minority. You're more likely to like Oni for...well see the other comments. I ain't writing all that out.
-
I love playing Bubba. I never camp since that's incredibly boring, and it's a lot of fun.
-
Well, La Llorona is just another ghost, so I don't really care, Siren Head is too big, the Hell Priest is already in the game, and Carrie being a killer kind of defeats the purpose of the original story, so it's down to the others for me. Personally, Candyman is the best of these purely for the fact that his original movie was an amazing hallmark of classic slasher horror. It was so meaningful and gothic, and its somewhat romantic story makes it stand out compared to other slashers of the time. Plus, as great an IT as Bill Skarsgård plays, no one beats the entrancing work of Tony Todd.
-
A freaky lab in the Void, a French village, and a neon city would all make for super interesting maps. I want them all.
-
I'm not going to say any FNaF killer, since Springtrap is my preferred pick, but IT, the Slender Man, the Creeper, and Jason are all also on my wishlist.
-
I'm so up for The Conjuring (please let the killer be the Crooked Man), Death Note, and The Shining, but Clock Tower holds a very special place in horror history as the first major entry in the Survival Horror genre, even before Resident Evil. Having that in the game would truly be a love letter to the origins of horror games.
-
I want Sally Hardesty, I want Nancy Thompson, I want a Left 4 Dead killer, I...well, I don't really care for more Resident Evil, but Ethan Winters, Jack Baker, and the Baker estate would make for one helluva part 2, I want Kirsty Cotton, I...well, again, I'm not too crazy for an Ash vs. The Evil Dead killer, but it really feels weird not having one, I want Sidney Prescott, and I want more Crypt TV skins. THough, Left 4 Dead is the most up there purely for the sake of wanting an actual killer from it.
-
Dude, all of these. Springtrap is my personal favorite, purely for aesthetic, backstory, and power potential, but I love all of these ideas. ALso, to note, the Slender Man isn't a video game character, but I guess we'll include him here for the sake of having him. Throw in the Hunter Necromorph from Dead Space, a Big Daddy from Bioshock, the Rat King from The Last of Us: Part II, Hannah Washington, A.K.A. the Wendigo, from Until Dawn, possibly someone from Fatal Frame, and the Scissorman from Clock Tower (don't judge me), and we'll really be talking.
-
The Curse just fits. Also, the Grudge is a different character from a different IP.
-
For me, it's just new parts, toolboxes, and genrushing builds. All these things together just make playing killer feel empty because, yeah you finally got a down, but the survivors already have four generators done. What's even the point anymore?
-
I would love to see all of these come to the game eventually, say for maybe the Grudge and the Thing. Kayako just doesn't really interest me, but I guess it'd be neat to have her for the sake of pleasing those that want her, but the Thing kinda gets me. I love the Thing, both the movie and the monster, but most any power idea I can come up with just doesn't work or just doesn't feel like The Thing. The Thing is a slow-burn about tension and suspicion where no one can be trusted and anyone can die at any time. None of those really work in Dead by Daylight, so I'm at a loss. I would love to see it happen, but I don't know if Behavior could get it right.
My personal pick, though, is for Daniel Robitaille. The Candyman. All the killers here have amazing power potential and come from great source material, but Candyman comes from a movie that holds such a special place in horror history. This movie had so much heart, so much meaning, and so much feeling that no slasher, to date, has ever hit for me. And as for the Candyman himself, he's one of the most interesting slashers ever made. I would love to see how Behavior would handle such a fascinating character as Candyman.
-
It's fine the way it is, but I can't say I wouldn't appreciate just an extra second or two to get my bearings and look around a bit more.
-
The pure amount of skill required to play her is exactly why she's baalanced. She is god awful at so much in the game if you can't play her, but she becomes a monster if you have the dedication to master her. And even then, the best Nurses in the world can still be outplayed, meaning counterplay exists even at the highest level. That seems pretty balanced to me.
-
I know a lot of people that love to play him purely because of how well designed he is, but the main complaint I hear is, "Well The ___ can do that same thing so much faster, so I play them instead." People just prioritize efficiency over fun value sometimes.
-
The concept is an interesting one, one that would be great to have so long as the execution is good.
-
No, Dead Hard shouldn't be nerfed, but it does need to be fixed. It is, quite literally, broken in favor of survivors, since it is mechanically unfair on a solid 40% of the killer roster due to the hit validation.

It's a nice thought, however I can think of one big reason why he would never be added to the game. He is a kid. In the development of the Stranger Things Chapter, the developers said they didn't want any of the characters that were children as survivors, because killing kids in the game would probably be a big no no. I imagine similar reasons might exist for not having a kid do the killing.
Well, that whole business only usually applies to kids getting killed, not kids doing the killing. Critics often have a problem with violence against kids and that usually leads to the movie getting banned in certain countries, which hurts sales. While kids doing the killing is still a wee bit touchy, I bet they could get away with it, especially in the case of an evil conquering alien kid.

Tbh, the one thing I think that could work is a killer who can have access to cameras (a control room down in the basement, let's say, as if they had overrun the office) and have cameras that can be destroyed temporarily.
Edit: or maybe they can only access the cameras from certain terminals for a set period of time (20s?)
The survivor could be the survivor of bite '87. But this would be difficult. We don't know much about him as a character, so his character will feel impersonal.
The killer is the main thing I want, and if a killer from a different franchise has a similar power I will be just as happy. But I think this would be the most likely one. Or an original killer. Who knows?
I had the idea of a two-piece power, similar to a Pyramid Head and Pig fusion involving a Fright Meter. Springtrap places Phantoms on gens, lockers, chests, and pallets, and survivors that interact with them get scared, increasing their meter. If the meter hits a certain point, it moves to stage two, and Springtrap gains the ability to stuff survivors into springlock suits around the map, but only has four per match with a purple add-on that adds one more. Facing him would be about avoiding getting jumpscared and managing your Fright Meter, just the same as FNaF 3 is about avoiding the Phantoms and managing your debuffs. I don't know, thought the idea was neat.

Wow, this is a great idea. I hadn't a clue what his power could be, but this works amazingly well. Good job.
