Risk reward. Survivors have to deal with it, why not killers?

You do realise that Survivors can disable more than one drone, right?
No one is going to run around disabling drones all games.

Not at all.
Looks like something out of a cheesy 2nd rate comic book out of the 70's.

Played a several Huntress matches and survivors keep throwing on hook to try and skew the data. I have several recorded matches of this. 30 and 40 minute matches where survivors refused to play or do gens and would finally do all the gens and die to the entity. Just when I thought I had seen the end of the pettiness I am continuously amazed lol. Good thing bhvr knows that they died due to the entity and not to the hook. But I have had real and fun matches too! I enjoy playing with people who actually want to test the changes and see how it works!
Dear killer mains.
Not everything that happens in DBD is about you.

Survivors themselfs are ruining the game for other survivors. Stop blaming devs for peoples incapability to save people from hooks or doing gens.
Survivors dcing or killing themselfs on first hook when something doesnt please them in the match is sky high too. Thats just entitlement.
Tunneling sure it happens, but is there any anti tunneling perks in top 10 perks used by survivors? No.. of course there isn't.
Survivors are playing the most selfish way possible lately ignoring other teammates and leaving them on hooks and that is not on the devs.
No, for sure.
The devs don't hold any responsibility for the state of their own game.

This.
Seems like "not garbage" perk is only something game breaking level.
Quick Gambit literally can't be buffed more, it's already strong perk on indoor maps and stupidly strong on Gideon.
Lucky Star is very underrated perk for soloq. And Light-Footed could be very useful.
Champ of Light is super strong perk and crazy strong in SWF.
Cage had two perks, which became one of my most loved.
Troubleshooter saved my butt in so many 50/50.
Background player was overbuffed.
Cut Loose not amazing, but sometimes very useful perk.
Mikaela wants your drama.
Trash perks.

Nerfing her isn't the solution though, she isn't a good killer. When played against properly, she loses most of the time. Probably a low C killer at best. People just don't want to play against her. There is a difference there.
Gross generalizations do not make a valid argument.
Theres more to this than mass community entitlement.

Not being able to please everyone is perfectly fine.
In fact its trying to please everyone that usually makes something please no one.
That's why the term "broaden appeal" often equates to the death of things as its a euphemism for rendering something so generically bland that it loses all character and uniqueness.
Making it completely uninteresting to all but the most generic of consumers and they don't tend to stick around long because they are quickly swept up by the next generic bauble they have to consume.
The fact that DBD upsets so many players is one of the strongest points about the game. It means, especially in the horror genre, they are doing something right.

Everyone you used to play with only played to troll the killer and see how much they could pallet stun, flashlight save and teabag.
Instead of being a challenge to get as many stuns as possible before all four of you casually strolling out of the exits, it's now a challenge to, you know, survive. As it should be.
I say this as someone who plays both roles. Playing survivor is supposed to feel vulnerable. You're suposed to have to try to escape. The games where I just repair gens and escape with 10k BP are far more disappointing than the games where I have to fight to survive, maybe don't survive, but end with a score above 25k.
Meanwhile for killer, you have to advance through two-thirds of your objective before you can secure a kill, out of a possible four. To walk away with zero kills after doing that much work is soul destroying. There should be a baseline of at least 1 kill every game the vast majority of the time to make that a credible threat, with 4 escapes being rare. A 55-60% kill rate is how you get there.
In a horror game based on horror movie tropes. There should be more parity with the 'final girl' format, where some survivors actually die before the last ones escape.
Nah man, not buying this at all.
If you want hard games on survivor side, there is plenty of things you can do to handicap yourself and ensure that you die all the time.
You and the few others killer mains on here constantly parroting for harder and harder games ( for survivors only, naturally) under the pretext of “BUT KILLER BE SCARY!!!” Is out of touch and way off the mark.
There is no horror aspects left in this game. That shi* went out the window with all the ridiculous neon outfits and bunny outfits and introducing “killers” such as Trickster.
People are not going to continue to play and support any game where one side is so blatantly favored over the other.

If you look at the player base carefully.
Everytime a killer buff news is released, the player count will go higher and everytime a killer nerf news is released, the number will go down.
If they really care about the player count, they should keep buffing killer.
But we can see the road map went to a totally different path.
Hate to shatter whatever broken logic you’re trying to push here, but your statement has no basis in actual fact.
It takes 4 survivors to play a match, how many survivors you think are going to stick around for an even more killer sided mess of a game than it already is?
-
Nope.
The last thing this game needs is more mid perks to add to the pile of trash perks already in game.

There are multiple killers that already break the basic laws of physics.

Seriously, 8 regression events. It must be a joke, right?
So now perks like Surge or any other gen regression perk that can eat up these regression events without you wanting to means you may end up with generators that suddenly can't be regressed at all because survivors were either to reckless and ''drained'' those events by getting downed ( what Surge will do ) or perks like Pain Ress hitting the same gen over and and over so gen with relatively low progression will get events spent regardless.
Gen kick perks other than Pop are now bad and gen kicking is bad in general because you spend one of those 8 events for 5% regression which is reverted by survivor in 4 seconds once you leave the said gen. Before people say something like - I rarely get a game where I need to kick a gen 8 times or something, - guess what, now you will wish you had these kind of games more often because killers will now concentrate on tunneling one player out asap since gen regression gets limited.
All BHVR had to do is introduce this system when there are only 3 gens left on the map. Instead they now say - if you want to make a gen regress - make sure it does regress massively or don't touch it at all. Guess what is the best regression method in the game already? That's right - tunnel a player out. Once there are less players, this limitation suddenly doesn't feel so restricting anymore.
Mark my words - we will return to a meta where gen regression is either not effective or not possible at all. Games will be all about chase and people will simply tunnel the first target they down asap. You wanted one problem fixed - you ended up introduced few new ones.
News flash for you- killers already tunnel like their lives depend on it.
You gotta do better than that.

No, face camping if when you're right up in their face, camping them. It's specifically when the killer is right at the hook and it makes unhooking much harder and a trade almost certain.
Even if the killer literally stands just outside the range of the AFC mechanic, it still gives the other survivors a better chance to get the unhook without having to trade, and is thus much healthier for the game.
A killer who is hanging around the area and goes right back to the hook to tunnel is something completely different and is not what the AFC was made to counter.
You're literally splitting hairs here. The intent is the same, regardless of whatever point you are vainly attempting to spin here.
Far too many killers intentionally proxy/face camp just to hard tunnel and for easy hooks. Why leave the hooked survivor when they can get free downs and more hooks?
Theres a lot BHVR could do to combat or just stop this behavior all together, but we all know they won't.

Yeah and that's it in a nutshell really.
You notice how complaint posts typically resort to (for lack of a better term) a collective absolutism to make their point, "EVERYBODY hates this" "NOBODY wants this" "This is UNIVERSALLY despised"
"How can I be wrong if everyone agrees with me" Its a very self reassuring standpoint to have and plays a big part in why people seek out echo chambers over real discussions.
I like to be positive about games I enjoy, in fact I've come to really appreciate some of the more negatively viewed and complained about aspects of DBD for what they really bring to the game.
DBD can be hard, and sometimes downright nasty, but boy does that ever make it a good horror game.
Disagree.
It has most of the looks and aesthetic of a horror game but to actually play it for an extended its many flaws are really glaring.
It is horribly balanced and full of bugs/cheaters/latency issues.
And judging from the AMA the Devs just seem apathetic to it all.

Simple solution: Give the Killer an enhanced BP incentive when dealing with a premade. Give me +200% BP to face off against a full four man SWF and I will stick around.
Maybe DBD isn’t a good game for you considering everything you have already shared.
A good place to start would be for BHVR to stop with the ridiculous killer/survivor double standards. Make it so no can see the opponent, or their prestige or whatever someone is inevitably going to whine about.

“I don't think the game is particularly hard for Killers.”
It’s not. At all.
I also play the role, as well as frequently watching sets of matches from various levels of players to see the ratio of 4K matches, all the while personally vibing with honest players irl who concur and understand this truth.
DBD has become increasingly easier for Killer players; dramatically easy-mode over the last 2 years.
Players know and understand this truth (especially Killer Mains) and opt into a stance of hard denial (especially on the forums and in polls) so the Developers will continue to hold Killer player’s hands and serve up the most simplistic 4K possible.
Buffs to sweeten the experience for new Killer players have only handed over the entire candy factory to those who’ve invested multi-K hours and effortlessly dominate the role.
Developers have opted to raise up SWF like it was Simba in the Lion King, while disowning the unloved SoloQ child altogether; It’ll be a hud here and a hud there, moving forward, but true balancing efforts have lost their significance.
I do believe Devs will address Tunneling by way of a restructuring of ‘ground rules’ for necessity ‘strat Tunneling,’ and punishingly regulating the toxic variety of Tunnelers. Though, at the slog rate to which needed changes are brought about (or never are) in this game, unfortunately, anyone holding their breath is already long time dead.
Sure they will eventually probably have to deal with hard tunneling, the exact same way they deal with most everything.
Band-aids and half measures with no discernible difference at all.

@Pulsar said:
I have felt for years that DBD has refused to innovate, but I've held out hope that they'd snap out of it and surprise me. However, due to the most recent Q&A, I feel that they have zero interest in innovating and are content in mediocrity.
This genuinely upsets me because I know where it leads. It feels like the only innovation or ambition comes from the skins, ie, things that make money.
I don't usually like to plug content creators, but Otz' new video does sum up what I (and I'm sure many others) feel as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHrltMfZe28&ab_channel=notOtzdarva
There's just no drive anymore. No push to improve things. Content in mediocrity.
I feel like this stems from three separate issues.
One is BHVR's glacial change schedule. There's over THIRTY Killers in the game and half of them are outdated. Taking two and a half years for a single Killer update isn't going to cut it anymore. BHVR has always taken forever to change things and, a lot of the time, it's not been good changes. These Trickster changes, for example, have been a long time coming and they still aren't good. If the changes are going to be so minor and so awful, they need to come faster.
Two is BHVR's apparent lack of understanding of their own game. Sometimes, we get lucky with things like Wesker. Other times, we get Boil Over and Dull Merchant. The answers about not doing anything for Solo Q or for new players are extremely telling.
Three is money. I now feel that DBD's death will be a direct result of it's success. There is no longer any need to innovate due to the success of DBD. This breeds stagnation and mediocrity, which leads to a slow death. It can be changed, but somehow I doubt that'll happen.
I suppose I'm just...disappointed. I've spent so long on DBD and it's painful to see these things happen. The game isn't dead, not by a long shot and nor do I think it'll go anytime soon. It's clear to me, however, that the ambition and innovation that lead to this little game becoming a movie is no longer present and that the team at BHVR has become complacent. That's not a shot at BHVR, just an opinion.
What do you all think?
I agree completely.
While I just mostly lurk on the forums I try to interject the occasional odd comments here and there about the abysmal state of affairs in the game, to seemingly deaf ears.
Solo queue did not used to be the one sided slaughter it is now and that is a direct result of their bad decisions making for years, not just the last few updates.
At this point I have zero interest in loading the game up and playing it anymore. Whats the point? To get hard tunneled and slugged just to feed sweaty killer mains easy 4ks?
-
@Beatricks said:
As someone that has just finished keeping stats for their last 100 SoloQ games (summary thread later this week), I feel somewhat competent to chime in.
I definitely disagree with the idea that the reason SWFs have a higher escape chance is because of them simply working together. At its core, a lot of information can be gleamed with the use of gaming sense and that comes with experience and skill. The single biggest reason of losing in SoloQ more often than not boils down to skill issues. The amount of people I played with that consistently failed basic skillchecks, walked into beartraps that were not visibly obscured, healed against Legion, tombstone Myers etc was astounding.
SoloQ woes are mostly the result of skill issues. And sadly SBMM is not equipped to help in any way.
You're entitled to your opinion but there's more to than just a simple "skill issue".

Most maps have:
- A killer shack
- A main building with a god pallet
- Jungle gyms
All of these are not mindgameable by any killer that isn't nurse but when speaking about "god pallets" nurse shouldn't really come into the equation.
Every forced pallet break adds at minimum 20 seconds to a chase. So all you need to do is force a single pallet break, then run into a corner of the map, and by the time the killer hooks you, it will have been about 2 minutes (when you factor in the time it took the killer to find you) meaning 3 gens finished by the other survivors.
I push back on any pallet being considered "godly".
It's an over used term by sweaty try hards who over analyze every aspect of a game in order to manipulate the masses into thinking its a legit issue.
Its a 1 use item, that can be immediately be broken and rendered utterly useless.
Not so "godly" after all is it.

I'll always have a problem with built in mechanics that can potentially erase mistakes for pretty much free or in certain cases, make the "mistakes" the best play.
If they prevent 3 genning, all it will do is encourage survivors to slam out the far out gens that the killer can't reasonably apply pressure to, because they won't be punished for it.
We seriously don't need more basekit mechanics that reduce brainpower requirements from the game.
You mean any more brain dead than killers intentionally forcing 3 gens and using it solely as a cheap and easy way to bore survivors to death to the point where they just give up after 30-40 minutes?
And incidentally, the Devs have already stated on more than one occasion they never intended 3 gens as a way for killers to hijack games.

DBD now is not even a 10 - it's 100 times better than it was in 2017 in every single aspect. Both gameplay and how it looks.
I see arguing with that is as pointless as arguing that white color isn't white.
Dude, I have better things to do than explain standard grade school lessons such as the difference between facts and opinions.
And by the way, while I’m discussing facts, white is not a color at all. Google it if you don’t believe me.

I mean, honestly? If you don't feel anything in the game, while you playing the game, that just lean towards only 1 thing: You got depressed.
Once loved project doesn't give you anything now? In case of DBD, the problem is within you. Because the game is only getting better and better day by day, which makes me only more excited. It's a fact.
In DBD I have only somewhere around 3500+ hours. But in other game before DBD, I've had 17k hours. And I never felt like you do.
I always have passion and excitement towards whatever I like or love. If I don't, I just stop playing it, and completely forgeting about it.
Burned out? Go play something else for literally 2-3 months. And you good to go.
If you keep playing the game, or even just checking news about the project you once played - that only means that you still love this project. And at some point, you will return to it.

Stating “ the game is only getting better every day” is not a fact. That’s your opinion.

Many of the game elements people decry as unfun or even boring, if those elements were to be removed, would then make the game become truly unfun and boring.
That killer bias in outcome is an essential part of the thematic game experience as survivor.

Maybe you should go look at your own posting about “mass hysteria” in another thread.
