Bugs aside, good patch. Pretty much the only negative change is Slinger that I've noticed so far, though I've yet to play nerfed Wraith- can't imagine he'd be that bad, though.
I think they did some changes to Wraith (PTB to live), I have played him on PTB and it felt way harder to use there.
He is fine now, you sometimes feel it and whiff because of it, but not that often as I feared.
I love Trapper changes, I love Spirit changes, I love perk changes (mainly survivor changes tho), addon changes are also good
DS changes suck

I think the idea many people have with Legion getting less punished for misses is a matter of risk and reward.
Billy misses and gets a 3 sec cooldown. Same with Bubba whose cooldown is both lethal and 1.5 secs - 3.5 cooldown.
Combine this with the fact that the above examples are Lethal and incur less recovery. (12 seconds on Bubba if you need all 3 chargers WITHOUT add-ons, and 15 secs if you completely overheat your saw as Billy).
Compare this to Legion. Sure, there's less counterplay but it can't kill you (add-ons aside). There's no real immediate danger from it. Despite this, the power incurs a brutal 4 sec fatigue and 20 sec recovery in its current state. He's punished so much more despite his reward being so much less.
"it can't kill you (add-ons aside)"
It could be fixed by having normal fatigue (4s), when you hit survivor in deep wound.
I am not sure about missed attacks, I would keep it 4s too, so you have option cancel, or lunge to block survivor, but cancel should be definetly lower.

DDS was a good killer map, but there are multiple spots where survivors can put boon totems now that you can't cleanse. And it's being abused *every single game* when I go there.
Lery can be good on some killers, yeah.
NHL really depends on survivors. There are two absurdly safe gens that, if they save them until later, makes it very frustrating.
Yeah, Hag, Nurse, Freddy and to a lesser extent Demo tend to be okay on most maps because they can ignore verticality to some degree. The only real exception are certain indoor maps that glitch out Nurse's blinks.
Ah, didn't consider Autohaven as I'm not one for ranged killers. On M1 killers, I call it 'Pallethaven'.
Most killer sided map might be Dead Dawg Saloon, there is just one annoying gen and most pallets are quite unsafe, but I still love to play that map even as survivor.
I don't really consider totems that can't be cleansed to maps balancing, that is just bug and let's hope they will fix that before CoH return.

I honestly can't think of a single killer/map combination that would be worth the offering. Maybe something like Gideon's on Doctor, but that's all that's coming to mind.
At best, Killers have 'okay' maps, 'rough' maps and 'swinging your mouse around like a flail of doom annoying' maps.
Hmm, so maps I used for adepts:
Dead Dawg Saloon with most killers
Léry's Memorial Institute / Hawkins National Laboratory (Stealth killers)
Midwich Elementary School (Hag)
Autohave with ranged killers (short loops I can shoot over), The MacMillan Estate worked too, but this one is random (some are better, some are worse)

It's just my opinion, but I feel being dropped into a game with randos feels more in the spirit of the game (though often frustrating as hell). Being able to choose your team feels like an advantage, and being able to choose your team and verbally coordinate across the map is absolutely OP, imo.
But this is a game that isn't ever going to be balanced, so to each their own.
It doesn't feel like an advantage, it is huge advantage.
If they buff soloQ, then I will happily play it more. I sometimes get annoyed a lot while trying to get SWF on official discord, but I have my dead squad, where we play time to time.
How I would buff soloQ:
-Survivors can see each other when someone is on hook.
Simple change of something in this game already, just kindred without killer aura and would probably help most. Kindred would need some buff tho.
-HUD icon, which shows when survivor is in chase.
Again quite easy, just make everyone obsession effect and actual obsession would be highlighted in red.
-Show each survivors perks in lobby.
This one would be probably hardest to implement, but would help to prepare for game a lot, because you might fill roles with perks, when noone uses them. You could bring totem detection perks or BT, when you see noone uses them. On other hand when you see that 2 players are already using Inner Strenght, then it would be good idea not to use that too.
Chat wheel might help a lot too, like what it could say:
Cleansed a totem
Doing gen
Going for save
Opening a gate
Just stuff like that and it could pop up next to portraits...
Other than that for balancing: buff weak killers, buff weak perks on both sides, make base regression 150% and nerf ruin to 150%

I had two Doctor games where I only got one hook while I was trying. On Dead Dawg... Which is my favorite map. And then I needed a 4k for a tome challenge using him. I lacked a lot of confidence so I decided to just 4 man slug them. They only had one unbreakable, thank Rngesus.
Yeah, I have problem with killers like Legion, Wraith, Doctor etc. that there is just limit where you can go (SBMM), when survivors just know counter-play and you are ######### unless you play around 3-gen from start of the game and some of those killers are screwed anyway...

There's this scene in American Dad where a rotting corpse is driving a car with the family trapped inside, and one tells the others to fart, as that makes it smell better.
That's how I feel about Haddonfield after basically an entire day of RPD.
Haddonfield sucks, but I'm almost relieved to see it. Because it's not another game of sodding RPD.
I don't really mind, when I get it random, just ######### happens, but it just sucks to see it from offering and you know they are going to have perks prepared for that map. Kinda unfair imo
Yeah, killers can do it too, but it's way more rare than from survivors from my experience. I usually use offerings only for challenges and I used them for hard adepts.

Only if you have purple-pink addons, which nodoby picks if they are going to facecamp, since it would be a waste of bp.
I think that The Beast's Marks is enough (green, movement speed), but yeah Award-winning Chilli works too.
I am not sure now, if Knife Scratches (yellow, movement speed) is enough. I don't play him that often.
-
Yeah, totem spawns need major rework.
It's actually quite easy to find all totems, except Raccoon city, that sucks.
You have lot of guaranteed spawns on most maps and you always have either pentagram layout, or square + middle totem layout. So you can guess where the next totem is going to be.
Just play like a hundred of games with Detective's hunch and you will learn it.
-
Let's be honest, that map sucks for both sides.
It's different when it is from offering, where you just know they prepared with perks to help them navigate. I usually just leave (offering only) and wait 5 minutes, unless I have good killer for it.
When I decide to play it, I just choose 1 half of the map with more gens + main hall and never leave.

That will be one of the reasons why there is so much tunneling going on right now. Many killers who don't play meta-perks often have no other choice.
That is exactly what is boring. That I have to play Meta-Perks as a killer if I don't want to leave the trial with a 0-1 kill every time.
I play Oblivious perks sometimes, just to put a little scare on the Survs. But that doesn't stop any progress, so the round is often over before it starts to be fun.
Thing is, people say to play fun perks and just don't play to win, but IDK about that, I don't expect 4k each game, but having game with 2-3 hooks total just sucks and it doesn't really make it better that I had worse perks...

Trust me, if anything it's worse on the killer side of things.
RPD offering into RPD offering into Haddonfield offering into RPD. Endless SWF groups with meta perks, smurfing down their MMRs to berate and abuse newcomers or less skilled people. And not a game goes by without me wondering if someone is hacking. 2 gens done within the first minute of the game, 3 done before you even see a survivor.
Ugh.
This game is like a toxic relationship that you keep coming back to.
My record is 4x Haddonfield in a row. Yeah, I didn't play killer for few days after that...

Two weeks ago, I thought I needed to take a break from this game. The game in the current state is stressful: PALLET, PALLET, PALLET, PALLET, IRON WILL, IRON WILL, IRON WILL, DS, IRON WILL MEDKIT, GEN POPS, MEDKIT, MEDKIT, PALLET, GEN POPS, PALLET, FAST VAULT, SHACK WINDOW, SHACK WINDOW, GEN POPS, SHACK WINDOW, DEAD HARD, DEAD HARD, DEAD HARD, BT on RPD.
But then I have discovered this guide on Nurse:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPSuYnnqvDw
I've started playing Nurse, and my life changed:
- I feel no stress (maybe a little fatigue); even if I lose, at least I can land a few good hits after a blink
- I don't care about the pallets
- I don't care about the walls
- I have started walking around my apartment and building with Nurse blinks when no-one sees me
In the last match, I've played against SWFs with 4 medkits on RPD. It was a bloodbath, so satisfying! I've been blocking the first-floor door with my rare part... And that's it. You can't get a rescue from the first floor. You need to go up... and the hook was in the range of my blink. Survivor hit 2nd stage, and I blinked and grabbed the rescuer. They started healing... but Nurses Calling! So I mori one, slugged and hooked two and one DCed. A satisfying match; I don't remember being so proud of myself for a while.
So, my apologies, survivors, but in this state of the game:
NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, NURSE, and maybe Billy for memes.
Not from SupaAlf? Weird... I really expected him.

Seal clubbers, I guess? Just wanna lower MMR for free games...
I mean, I do it with few killers, so I can chill with them, but for me it's difference to change from 2k+ survivors to 500 hours survivors. I don't really wanna babies to stomp...

Yeah, it should be mandatory requirement whenever you have major issue with any side. It would help to see a problem and give advices, problem is that this is forum for everyone, so it would quickly turn into flaming contest.
Problem is that dbd is just really not noob friendly and you just need to know decent player that will spend time with your in KYF for a while to teach you. I have done that with all my friends who wanted to learn, just teach them chases, some generic good loops, overall tips and forced them a little to play a killer for few games, while I was watching them. I think when you play both sides, you become better player overall. It's not that helpfull for a killer, but survivors benefit from it a lot, you just can see how it works from killer's POV and can learn tricks by survivors you play against, just copy what annoys you.
This game just takes effort to get good at, not that much as moba games, but definetly more than FPS games imo. Some players are not willing to do it and just rather complain instead.

Depends if you are stuck in mmr hell or not. To survive you need your team. If your mmr is low enough then you essentially have no team as they don't do gens and don't last long in a chase. Now you are stuck in a perpetual downward spiral of doom if you can't camp the exit gate since hatch is meaningless for mmr.
Yeah, I can see Uroboros here and it sounds like an issue.
At that point you either have to be that good that you can run that killer for 5-gens, which is possible, because your killer gets worse too, or you have to start playing with decent SWF to get from there...
-
Hmm, solo is harder compare to SWF for MMR and I think soloQ should get buffs in form of info that is easily shared by SWF.
Either passive things, or chat wheel. I can elaborate if you want to.
SWF has it easier not because they are OP, it helps to get free info tho, but main thing is that you skip matchmaking factor, you choose who you play with and you can rely on them.

Name a few buffs you would like to see for survivors
Hmm,
remove 1 gen needed to finish
Head-on kills the killer
If killer opens empty locker after Deception used, that killer gets swallowed into locker for 1 minute.
Blast mine injure killer's leg and he lose 10% movement speed for rest of the game
Only strong enough killers can destroy pallets
Diversion will stun the killer for 10 seconds, if you manage to hit him over pallet
Unbreakable and DS can be used how many times you want per game
Saboteur removes hook permanently

There is also killer version with ghostface picture, but it's actually long time ago I have seen him...
I have no idea who is third to be honest.

Ah yes let me just ignore the problems with solo q by pretending they don't exist by playing with people i don't even know. You're so smart you deserve an award.
"I think soloQ should get buffs" - Dino7281
Yeah, it helps your argument, if you ignore what else I said before...
Edit: It's true that it's just way easier to gain MMR as SWF. I don't think it's because SWF are OP or anything like that, yeah free info helps a lot, that's true, but best thing is that you can choose your teammates, so you just ignore matchmaking and you are can actually rely on your teammates.
SoloQ needs buffs in form of info that is easily shared by SWF, so that gap is not that huge. Either some passive info, I can elaborate if you wanna, I made even post about it before, or just chat wheel would help. I am like 90% killer main, so those buffs are really not for me. I just want soloQ buffs, so high MMR is not SWF only.
-
sure, that might work
alternative is: let me destroy that totem, so they have to make some efforts and find new totem, like with every other totem requirement perks...
Then CoH would be just really good alternative for Inner Strength.
1x 100% heal vs infinite heals, which can be denied per totem
only you vs whole team
It would still be way better Inner Strength even with my change...
-
Hmm, last game we destroyed Trickster with 2 hooks total.
We played 5 games yesterday and we never had more than 1 dead.
So are you sure this is how it works?
I can smell some lack of skill instead...

Kinda funny that it's still possible to run a killer for 5 gens in (almost) 2022 in a 4v1 game where each survivor has 2 health states and 3 hook states
It's not possible normally.
It can be done by tournament level squad with ######### tons of protective hits, or killer is just bad.
WoP helps a lot with 5-gen run and some killers are easier for it. My 5-gen chase was against Billy.
It all comes to massive over-commit from killer, where that killer should have switch way sooner.
-
@Sweet_Tour said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2591146#Comment_2591146
It's literally all those problems wrapped in one.
Is bloodlust problem? Not really, if most killers use their power, they lose it, if they destroy pallet, they lose it. If you got downed by Bloodlust 3 killer, then cg, you just had quite a long chase. Bloodlust just can't be removed unless they fix some maps. Bloodlust 3 takes 45 seconds and if you play smart, you can force killer to get out of it. Some loops are just not possible even with bloodlust 3 as long there is pallet there.
I hope you don't wanna tell me gens are too slow.
So it comes to bad survivors. I think soloQ should get buffs, but noone of those I woud use is going to help with bad overall decision making and lack of game knowledge.

Oh lord lol. I could of literally clipped ANYTHING else. And you would of not been happy and found fault. The point was. You can still get ALL the same hits and it barely hurt how he functions. AIM BETTER
You still don't get our issue, I guess.
I am not saying he is worst killer, because he is not, he is far from that. He is not even top 5 worst.
But I just don't like how he feels to play him now. His ADS mechanic is #########, which can tell you any FPS player. It wasn't an issue before, because quick-scope was a thing, so you really didn't have to use ADS.
I hate zoning, it's just cheap and you don't need any skill for it and their changes force to use it more, if you want to have good results and I think that is just boring.
I played Deathslinger for Quick-scope, it was skill I had from FPS games, so it was nice to use it for me.
All I am saying is that after those changes, he is worse, he feels worse to play and there is no reason to play him, when you compare him to other ranged killers, unless you like his hat tho...
And yes, any clips you are going to show will come to details about how bad those survivors are, so it doesn't prove that DS is valid at any point.

This sounds like survivor's skill problem, not dbd, not killer.
-
You can get slugged exactly same as before and your chance for hatch is actually better, because killer can't slug -> find hatch -> kill survivor -> close hatch instantly.
"Literally making the game unenjoyable for the new survivor"
This game was never noob friendly. It's kinda must have some better player to teach you in KYF, or watch a lot of streamers.
Quite a lot of hidden info to learn and insane grind. I really don't think killers have it better, grind at least is way worse for new killers till you get BBQ.
"When a survivor complains the killers get beefed up after half a year, when a killer complains the survivors get nerfed in less than two weeks."
Oh, right because there isn't any killer's perk that got nerfed on PTB, right? It's only poor survivor thing, right? Yeah, nope.
Killers get nerfs too and I am tired of people trying to act like there is only one side getting nerfs. (Killer mains sometimes do it to)
Overlapping boon totems was major issue. It was on level of WGLF + Soul Guard SWF, you could get situation, where only thing killer can do is DC. That nerf didn't change anything for normal game.
Range is still quite big and it is still super good on multi-layer maps, because range is basically double there.
It didn't make sense to bless hex as fast as dull and they didn't nerf it that hard...
CoH is still super good perk and I still don't like fact that you can use it on same totem over and over again, because killer has no reason to go there and search for it, it's just waste of time atm.

Literally 2 of them were trying to run the loop and i got good hits on them. Something you did NOT need quick scoping for. I picked one where she was hugging the rock/wall while running away. Something im told survivors dont do. Even though they 100 % do.
You shot them over short loops, so hard when you can actually just shoot over it...
Try to play around those rocks, or car, where you can't just shoot over it. Then you are #########, because that 400 ms means that you lost survivor, so you have to play m1 as 110% killer, unlike Huntress you have no hope in getting down over pallet.

May I recommend nurse. It might technically not be a ranged killer but your almost as fast as slinger and when you think about it your the bullet. Also you get to bypass obnoxious map issues like breakable walls and multiple story buildings. That would be my advice to the Deathslinger players in general. Pick up nurse play something that rewards you for time invested. We gave feedback behavior didn't listen time to move on. Most content creators or survivors will not be happy with slinger until he stays in an overnerfed state. Blight add on's will likely be next. A key advantage to consider is nurse doesn't have enough players playing her to provoke a nerf blight does. Already the blighted crow, alchemist ring add ons op has started. Behavior doesn't do half measure so expect some nasty addition be made to blight.
I play Blight a lot instead, when I want top killer.
I am decent Nurse, but I have big issue with multi layer maps, because I am used to look sligthly down, so I often teleported down even when I didn't want to :D
Replacement for DS is Trickster and Nemi for me
-
@Zarathos said:
Regardless of your feeling on whether or not you believe ds should have quick scoping there no denying it was a selling point of the killer with his tr being another minor selling point. This is why he has a single shot instead of 3 or five. To mitigate his snowball potential. His range limit was again set because of his low tr that was the intent. This nerf is a betrayal of trust as all of deathslinger key usp's were removed. This can be done but it means that there is a need to add value to the killer something that gives both the survivor more time to react and increased payoff for hitting a ranged attack that is harder to land and utilize. Whether it be a baseline exposed shot or a bounty system to apply some kind of game delay that has dangerous consequences if ignored.
Yeah, quick-scope was most interesting thing about him and made him different from other ranged killers.
I just couldn't care less about him now, he is just worse, less fun version of Huntress.
So as someone above said, only reason why to play him is that you like his hat...

I'm not saying they function exactly the same. I'm saying you can do things that are similar to each other
Examples: LT wall. Fake coming around the corner and hit through the window
Shack: Faking the door and hitting through a window
Loops: Survivors hug walls and leave themselves nowhere to go. You can aim slightly to their side. They'll almost always dodge.
It doesn't work like that with Deathslinger, because his hitbox is way smaller.
Also, it doesn't work, if pallet is dropped in loops.
Hitbox used to have good side, because you were able to shoot throught holes (some), but good luck trying that with long ADS.

Ah but there is. Survivor movements are all the same. Hugging the walls to make a loop as short as possible. Double back at windows because they see your stain and think you're coming...Running though a door, or opening at a jungle gym, etc.
When you realize you can manipulate their movements by what you do. Even ADS to make them weave. The better off you will be. It's no different then huntress
"Survivor movements are all the same. "
Well, that explains why they were crying so much... maybe try to be unpredictable? It helps a lot against any ranged killer...
"It's no different then huntress"
Oh, so this should be same, but what about every limitation DS has compare to her?
Should we remove range cap, should we let him down over pallet, or any window?

This whole time I was only comparing M1's. Everyone else took off with everything else lmao
Yeah, because you mentioned Wraith. Attack from his power is Lunge, so it can seem like there is difference.
Noone thought that you talk about actual M1, because every killer has same M1, only thing that change is animation, but range is same.

Yeah, and I never mentioned lunging at all.
Alright, then if you wanna compare just m1, then you are even more wrong. It's just an animation, otherwise same for everyone.
You had chance with Lunge, but even there you are wrong. It's just an animation, only thing that can be different is movement speed of the killer.

Pinhead swings sideways. Huntress swings up and down. I don't know if this is the bug you're talking about or not, but when Pinhead was first dropped he couldn't hit around corners /because/ he swings sideways. I think he still has that problem.
Also, when did I say Wraith was ranged? What? lmao
Yeah, that was a bug. He lost all momentum near objects because of it, that is fixed already.
Killers have different animations, but range is same. What can be different is movement speed some killers keep it for their lunge after power like Wraith, or Spirit.
You are trying to compare Wraith with ranged killers, that's when...
Deathslinger's movement speed never change, so he doesn't have better lunge from his power.

Tell me all about how Pinhead's M1 is the same as Huntress', or how Wraith's is the same as Pyramid Head's.
When did Wraith become ranged? Did they gave him shotfun in latest patch?
How is Pinhead's M1 different from Huntress? Unless you want to count that bug he used to have before.
Wraith has same lunge, problem is that he is faster during it -> more distance, but duration for that lunge animation is same.
Deathslinger's lunge is not bigger.

Try predicting better
It's not about predicting as a killer, it's the matter of survivors don't have to predict anymore and they can actually react to it. Even potato can react to 400 ms + 200 ms travel time. Problem is that unlike Huntress, you don't have car size projectile, you just have to side-step a little and it will miss.
I can't even flick, because of his stupid ADS mechanic, which can't be changed.

I just disagree on him being unfun and hard/er to play is all. People are attempting to explain the problems, sure, but it really feels like it's just turning into "I don't like it harumph harumph."
Said the one with argument: "Just aim earlier."
Yeah...
