Idea to make boon totems gameplay more interesting and maybe balanced
Hello there,
so here's my idea to balance boon totems and make it more interesting than a flat "bless totem" - "unbless totem" - "repeat"
It could still work that way when applied to a dull totem.
But what if instead of destroying the hex when applied on a hex totem the bless would stack on top of the hex, effectively also protecting the hex from cleansing, and then when the killer destroy the bless it also destroy his own hex.
That way instead of the obvious more advantageous "bless the hex", even more if it's in a good spot, the survivors have to choose if they want to destroy the hex or play around it but have the boon active in this specific spot. And when they choose to bless it, it becomes the killer choice to decide if he wants to sacrifice his own hex to get the boon down (could also destroy the totem entirely so it's a more viable choice to destroy so they can't ever have boon there anymore).
This little change could change the always obvious choice for survivors to bless and obvious choice for killer to destroy to a new kind of risk and reward gameplay and potential mindgames : take haunted ground and watch them bless it so you can destroy it and have it activate the moment you decide to ; in the option where the dull get destroyed take full hex build and let them bless it so when you decide you can clear the map of your own totems and they are out of boons areas.
It's also a big choice to make for both killer and survivors because if there are multiple hexes in play you wouldn't know exactly what you are choosing to cleanse or not.
On the visuals we could easily have the totem burn purple or something like that to represent it has both hex and blessing on it.
Anyway that was my idea, hope you like it and give feedback about it
Enjoy your day!
tl;dr : make the bless stack on top of the hex on totems instead of destroying hex, prevent hex cleansing if blessed, survivors have to choose bless or cleanse and take the risk/reward, killer then can choose to destroy both boon and own hex, potential added effect of breaking the whole totem when cleansing his own hex to prevent future blessing

sure, that might work
alternative is: let me destroy that totem, so they have to make some efforts and find new totem, like with every other totem requirement perks...
Then CoH would be just really good alternative for Inner Strength.
1x 100% heal vs infinite heals, which can be denied per totem
only you vs whole team
It would still be way better Inner Strength even with my change...
Boons need to have rules that actually make them a tactical choice and not a spam fest.
Limit the amount of a totem can be blessed, 4 times per totem per trial its MORE than generous.
Increase the time a totem needs to be blessed, survivors LOVE to throw around they "waste" time blessing them, but they always forget the amount of time they spend doing something isnt equal to the time a killer does something, they want to trully pay with time? make it 45 seconds for a hexed totem and 30 seconds for a regular one and lets se if they actually like "loosing" time on something.
Put a cooldown on totems the moment they are snuffed. When a totem its snuffed it goes in to a cooldown, on this time that very same totem CANT be reblessed until 80 seconds pass, that way survivors cant keep abusing structures or the same area over and over making it a tactical situation and a valuable resource
Make it so when a killer snuffs the totem out the totem its destroyed denying that area of it. They still will have more totems to work in other areas, alternatively the devs can add 1/2 extra totems per trial to compensate
Theres plenty of ways to make the boons more berable, but then again this seems its going to be a hard pass, both survivors and devs keep saying they are perfectly fine as they are regardless they arent.
On a side note shadow step needs to be made in two diferent boons, one that negates scratch marks and one that negates aura reading, having both in a single one its quite honestly ridiculous
