No stop nerfing good killers and buff others and change game mechanics to the point high mobility basically isnt required to give significant pressure to stand a chance of winning against good survivors. Devs are allergic to nerfing survivor where it needs to be done though, especially in gen progression, because most survivors are bad at the game.
sorry but bruh survivor is so nerfed now only the swf squads can actually play and win as survivors. Solo que is just miserable unless you think devs have to balance the entire game around competitive survivor friends teams that just want to ruin the fun of the game. I mean I just decided to play a game after 1 week of rest and it is still stupidly unbalanced how solo que always loses. We got 2 foolish teammates who killed themselves we did everything right but nah they all wanted to make dumb decisions and we died everyone used good perks only I used just stealthy perks and that is it and we played against Deathslinger the guy who is notorious for being slow and super precise so tell me what is the point of nerfing survivor all they gotta do is add more objectives to the game so the survivors don't always run for a generator and that is it. If you nerf survivor even more we will need 100 thousand percent bloodpoints incentive instead of 400% XD

Blight is meta, extremely strong killer, but easier and much more consistent compared to Nurse. Spirit was the same, back when Spirit had collision when she was shifting. Almost everyone played Spirit.
Honestly I guess he needs slight nerf but not too much. Other killers need a passive buff by you know behaviour finally adding extra things for survivors to do so they stopd doing all gens fast and so on so all killers can be fun, but we are not in a perfect world. Even if you nerf the strong killers there will always be strong killers they will shift from Blight to either Nurse or Spirit or whatever else is better. Huntress is the same deal she is still the best and got buffed for no reason but nobody complains about her though which is hilarious.

@StonedHermit said:
I don't understand why the exposed effect applies to Blight's rush attack. They changed Nurse's M2 because it was OP for her to have exposed effects and wall hacks, yet somehow it's okay when Blight does it.
What do you mean his rush attaacks count as special. He should not be able to insta down you with them unless there is a bug?
-
@Rulebreaker said:
They already give an advantage. The shiny ones make you a slightly brighter target for the killer to see, making them more likely to notice and chase you instead of your teammates.
More like the opposite effect. Killers don't chase survivors who obviously want a chase

I play survivor. I haven't played killer in years just due to not enjoying it much. Yeah, the que for surv is instant so that is nice. I enjoy it! Totally fine if you don't, should be totally fine if others do. That is why Baskin Robbins has 31 different flavors!
Oh no the problem is how ######### it is to play survivor really XD good that you still enjoy it. I personally only wish to do generators and not interact with the killer at all but alas I am forced to interact with them and thus I just don't play the game for now due to the sheer amount of bugs unbalance and insanity

I swear some people amaze me. Everytime I see duo Masked Meg's w/ Toolboxes, I know they're gonna be some gen rushing crouching around the map losers 75% of the time. So what does that do? It causes Killers to play scummy, then we Killers get to hear yall whine about getting tunneled. Like listen here, I don't have an infinite amount of time per match to search every freaken corner of the map because you are scared, if I find you then I'm NEVER gonna let you escape again due to your playstyle. So if you don't want tunneled, then just get good at the game. But if you don't care, then shut up, lol.
Not that I play super stealthily but if they are good at loops and loop you for I dunno 3 minutes won't you be mad again about it? Also tbh I stopped playing the game mainly because on both sides you either get toxic people or you just get tunneled every game or you get a broken killer. So I guess no need to worry about me I won't be playing with you that is for sure :D

Man. Just choose not to play it? Actually pretty simple. I adore 2v8 personally! It is a good break from normal gameplay. It is a meme in itself!
I guess you are one of those who enjoy waiting for 15 minutes? And if you are playing survivor then I guess you are just having fun doing more than 5 generators WHICH is nice I guess? Honestly the fact that nobody plays survivor anymore speaks volumes about the game.

2v8 is, at its core, the same game as dead by daylight. there are drastic gameplay changes but it is obviously still dead by daylight …. if the addition of 5 more players in your lobby makes you literally want to tear your eyes out of your skull, i have a feeling you don't like 1v4 that much either
Yeah he really needs to just quit the game. I think about maybe 20 thousand more people honestly could just quit the game because they don't like it in actuality. I mean I don't play right now and these days I just look at the game icon and I can only remember every ######### match I have had along with every unfun and unfair game. So yeah they really should just quit the game. Behaviour does not need people who hate playing their game :D
-
Also by the way if we must talk about killer buffs may I ask why you don't want lets say everyone else who are worse at their job to be buffed? Trapper Wraith Legion all still suck in the overall scheme of things. Same goes for other killers. Wesker is like the least of the communities worries he is for once a good and balanced killer
-
@buggybug said:
Oh my fellow survivor main chums sorry but amma play devils advocates here so am taking op side here yes give it to him. He is way too punished for missing his power compared to others killers who can just spam hello (billy) and cool down on power is way too long. I miss daddy wesker, they are so rare now. Imo he needs buffs and all I ask for is his power and recovery for missing be a faster cool down reduce if he cant have 3 dashes.
You do realise weskers with a brain usually let the survivor to try and dodge them while his power goes out and he just m1s them right? He has fair counterplay on survivor side and he has good enough power. What is the point of buffing him if he already is good enough. His infection is also dangerous if no treated. Giving him more dashes just means if he gets outplayed once and then he gets outplayed twice he can still get the survivor a third time but at that point it is not really him managing to do it more like his power completely carrying him because survivors can't dodge predict or 50/50 so much.
-
@GillyBeannn said:
It honestly makes wesker more fun to play and his counterplay is still the same on the survivor side, Considering how long it takes to recharge his 3 dashes, it also makes his mobility better to get across the map. And of course some add-ons could be tuned to compensate like Egg for example, and obviously he should not have the quicker cool-down recovery from his power ending in 2v8 to normal dbd.
Overall, I see it as a great quality of life buff for him.
Yeah sure let us buff the already balanced and fair killer even further. Like Huntress who got 5 hatchets before and now got 7 for no bloody reason despite her already being balanced and fair. Definitely buffing already good characters is great idea so we die 1 minute faster than normal. Yeah if you haven't noticed the sarcasm that is dumb. Solo que is already dying at this point if they buff the already good killers we might as well be giving up immediately.

The title. The queues are still massive with the bots because less people want to play with bots on their team and are either lobby dodging or not queuing in the first place. I think this is objectively the worst test of 2v8 so far.
Beyond this, the bots are very perceptibly worse than human players. They auto vault any window or pallet that they can in chase in a predictable way. If the killer goes slightly closer to one side of the loop than the other, the bot vaults. They will autovault and run to the next loop if they calculate they can reach it without being hit because you committed to a hit wrong. The problem is that this is predictable enough it is a guaranteed hit if you can just trigger them to animation lock themselves and double back at the same time. The worst part? They don't do gens if injured, have even a max distance terror radius near them, there is a teammate in a cage, or the gens near them don't have as much progress as a gen far away with someone else on it.
To top this off, they have gotten stuck in the environment, tend to crouch walk everywhere, and also take up a slot that could be used for someone else to have fun.
The reason killer queues are so long is because 2v8 isn't a permanent mode making it a novelty, survivors are guaranteed a bot teammate (possible and likely more than 1), bloodpoint incentives are useless to high hour players, and killers have objectively more interesting synergies due to the class system being boring for almost all survivor classes but escapist and the healer one still.Eh sadly they won't listen to you. They don't like to do the obvious to fix the problem. Nah let us try to make everything worse and not listen to anyone. I knew this gamemode will be a disaster. I simply don't play the gamemode. I haven't had the chance to play it you gotta be foolish to wait 20 minutes for one game. Behaviour just needs time to realise they gotta pull themselves together.

Try to take a break.
Most people don't make it but once you're away from DBD for a week you learn to appreciate the time again and what it feels like to have fun.
It's similar to League of Legends back then.
You are right after a week away from DbD I personally found out that I have 100 more games available that are fun and not completely plagued by bugs or balance issues :D which is why I am having fun with those but eh I have not uninstalled dbd no no I simply have been ignoring it and every time I think about turning it on I kinda get flashbacks of swf squads or tunnelling killers p100 at 5 gens. So yeah you are right that a break is needed. You either have a need to come back or you just develop a ptsd and don't touch the game. Don't worry I am not really mad anymore. It is mostly just dissapointment from Behaviour mostly.

You must play killer. Trust me, I play solo que survivor and it is horrible. Never seen it this bad. First person found either dcs, or gives up on hook, or worse you rescue and they won't let you heal and drop all the pallets. Irritating. Make them play? They chose to play? So at least think of the other team.
Oh well I do play survivor a bit. I will give up in some specific circumstances for sure I've had some people who really felt like they needed to be vigilantes for some reason as if that makes the situation any better. But yeah you are right this usually happens at least I can say I don't drop the pallets out of frustration but I had to be slugged for 4 minutes cause I did not want to deal with the killer or to get repeatedly grabbed by survivor on hook cause apparently that gives this fool a pleasure to feel more rightous when in reality it does not matter at all. It is just a game. As for the whole thinking of the team remember that cooperation is encouraged but not forced if behaviour removes the dc penalty we would see people actually disconnecting but until they stop their illogical idea of dc penalty to actually give your teammates a bot then I dunno what you expect from anyone with a bit of brain. Nobody is gonna punish themselves especially under these circumstances. Anyone got the right to give up whenever they want they paid the game they can do as they please that is what happens when you make a paid game. Everyone kinda gets the same rights to do as they please as dumb as it sounds.

As I said, there are 4 possible outcomes, 2 benefit me, 2 leave me in exactly the same situation as before, with the added silver lining of at least reporting the guy who tried to ruin the game for me and everyone else.
There is actually a 3rd scenario that benefits me, they DC and give me a bot instead, so that's 5 reasons to unhook... there is literally no reason for me not to unhook them if they are trying to quit, there are only benefits. 6 reasons if I take the stance that I'm keeping this player in this game, and stopping them from running others.
You may argue that it might upset them, and you're right, we have no clue what happened to the guy to make them want to quit, but every single one of us makes an implied agreement when we queue up with each other to play this game. The game doesn't work without 5 players, so if anyone deserves for their "situation to be made worse", it's the one who has decided to pack their toys up and go home to ruin the game for everyone else.
Don't be an SoH apologist man. There may be a reason for it, but there is never an excuse, and it should not be tolerated.
No idea what SoH means but uh okay good luck with your endevours. Those who are foolish enough not to cover up their giving up deserve to get a report anyways honestly. gg

Because it spoils the game?
As Survivor it instantly makes the game almost a certain loss. The quitter basically quit for everyone else on your team as well in that instant, and if you're still trying to win, it is so annoying to have another player just throw the game down the drain.
As Killer it instantly makes the game an almost guaranteed win, which believe it or not, some players dont want. Some.people play for a challenge and/or have empathy for the remaining survivors.
When I play killer and someone leaves, I am now put in an annoying position of having no point to playing normally... and either have play uber hard and ruthless to finish it quick, or I have to turn into a farmer and let survivors complete gens and leave.
Now don't get me wrong, I like to goof off and mess around time to time... but it's annoying when that scenario is forced upon you, especially when completely unprovoked.
Well we got no clue what has happened to the guy since he is doing it but uh still just annoying them by you know refusing them their quitting is not really helping. It will probably make things worse on literally everyone both the current game and the next game they decide to quit. I dunno it just does not fix it at all. But eh good luck with the effort

Does reporting DCs or Giveups do anything? I am getting this in EVERY game that I play in the afternoon/early evening. What is the punishment for this? Is there a punishment? I guess it could be abused too, but this is ridiculous.
So better to play in the morning I guess it is true during evening the games go towards absolute unplayability. Better just play during the time when normal people who are not toxic or annoying are playing so you don't get stupid situations. Makes everything nicer and as for those guys who just give up yeah don't report disconnects it does not work. Those who give up on hook I guess don't bother with them they will either ruin the match or just give up in a way that still looks like they trying. Pretty much don't deal with those who don't want to play is all I can say. Just let them go XD
-
@UndeddJester said:
The best way of getting around this, is bee line to the brat on hook and yoink them back into the game. This has 4 outcomes: -
- They start playing again, you're still screwed with likely a lost hook stage on them, but it's better than nothing.
- They AFK. AFKing is a reportable offence, so you can report them for that.
- They start throwing pallets, missing skillchecks and body blocking teammates. Helping the killer is a reportable offence, so you can report them for that.
- The killer slugs them and maybe gives you and your team a chance/free escape.
Never ever let anyone suicide on hook if you are close enough to stop them. Your chances of survival are always better as a result of points 1 and 4… if not, then at least you put a legitimate report against them.
Yup honestly that usually works if the survivor giving up does not use their brain. I still don't see why you guys want to stop people from giving up so bad but eh I guess that is just your choice. If they don't wanna play why even bother with them seems useless to try to make them play.

Yes, MMR was a mistake. And I think the damage MMR has done is beyond repair, since the whole player mentality also changed. Since MMR was introduced there is much more sweating going on and even if they would change the matchmaking again, this would still continue.
The thing about MMR is just that it feels so inconsistent. Because it simply is, once you are above the Soft Cap you get grouped with everyone above this Soft Cap. I have written it in another post a few days ago, but when I played Billy, a Killer I play a lot and would say are at least decent with, I went against Survivors who did not really seem to know what they are doing. And when I played Twins, a Killer I have not played for months (I dont think I played them in 2024 at all), I had very good Survivors - simply because I am above the Soft Cap with my Killer MMR and this is also used for Twins. So with the Twins-Game I got players who were way above the Soft Cap and as Billy I got some who barely reached it. Yay.
And on top of that, all of the Matchmaking is thrown away when it comes to backfilling. It was quite long ago, but I once faced a Trapper with below 100 hours… While the Survivor Team had around 25k hours combined (my SWF-Mate and I and then another 2 man SWF). Poor guy got backfilled and obviously had no chance at all. Nobody was bullying him or anything, but he did not achieve anything. And backfilling still happens, but this was probably the most extreme example I have seen.
Personally, I think Rank-based Matchmaking with a hard Rank Reset would have been the best. Their reasoning for watering down the Rank Reset back then was that people who dont play as much would feel left out when they cannot reach Rank 1. This was a pretty bad reasoning considering that it is totally fine it people play more that they get more rewards. But nowadays you get set back even more in your Grade AND you get BPs as a Reward. So their reasoning back then is completely gone. But overall, I would say that having a hard Rank Reset and a slight tweak of the Emblem System would have been enough to create good Matchmaking.
Nowadays all you get for playing well is an increase of an invisible Number. And even Grades are basically non-existend, you have to make extra clicks to actually see your Grades in the Lobby. Most of the time I only see my Grade at the 13th of the months when it gets reset, I see a few BPs and think "neat" and thats about it. (Let alone that playing well for MMR means that you escape or kill someone… Which is just so bad. If I play a game and end up with 8 Hooks but 0 Kills, I played worse than the Killer who only got a Hook with NOED at the end and camped that person to get a 1K… Likewise, as Survivor I can run the Killer for 5 Gens and then die to NOED and am worse than the other Survivors who did not have any Killer Interaction at all, but were good at pressing M1…)
if only they cared to fix that system but nah I guess we won't see anything good for a while I personally got tired of facing the same stuff as the OP said above. So I am just done I will wait for halloween then get some discount characters for free. Get their achievements and I guess after I am done I will just call it quits and again I won't be dealing with the game anymore cause it gets to a point where the loop is now more like either sacrifice simulator or bully simulator on both sides so why even bother to try and play for like one game that is fun at most.

They actually did do a bug fix only patch at one point in the past, people complained about how there was no new content in it.
Maybe they'll reduce the number of chapters per year at some point in the future, when they feel like there is enough content in the game to warrant doing so.
as far as a health chapter goes, it isn't really gonna do all that much different than what hotfix patches already does. Fixing the code itself is what's gonna actually help reduce the number of bugs and make the game more stable.
However as stated before, a task that big is a much larger endeavour to accomplish due to the sheer quantity of content in the game already that would need to be recoded, as well as the fact that it could potentially take years to accomplish, during which we'd sit with a content drought until they're done and that could easily hurt the game much more than what any buggy patch or unpopular chapter ever could.
With that said, since bhvr have throughout the years been updating old and oudated stuff in the game that they otherwise couldn't really change or fix before, as well as how Mathieu Cote have said in interviews that the foundation of the game would see some love in the future back in late 2024, i don't think it's a stretch to suggest that they're already working on fixing the code as we write, they're just slowly working on it through multiple patch over time instead of in a single giant patch.
Well okay. I won't be playing the game for a while so I guess I will just be watching from the sidelines which is honestly more entertaining than actually playing. I only wanna buy the free characters during halloween and then I can just call it a day when I get all achievements.

- People have been vocal about DBD's issues throughout it's entire lifespan, there's quite literally no reason to assume all of the sudden that's gonna change.
- Yeah nah, i don't agree with you about bugs only going to get worse from now on, compared to what we've had in the past, the bugs that plagued the game before the hotfix patch that we got today were relatively mild in comparison.
- There's no reason to assume the developers won't try and fix as many issues and bugs as they realistically can with the bandwith they have available, however some of these issues cannot realistically be fixed in the timeframe from now to the release of the fnaf chapter, especially such as things like recoding the game from scratch, which is a much bigger endeavour than what most people seems to think it is.
Okay if you say so. From all the recent ######### ups of the behaviour I just don't have very positive outlook on them. At some point they really just gotta take a break from chapters or at least make a chapter that is not being released with a bunch of bugs. And maybe focus on full on bug fixes and code stability more so the changes don't break half the game is all.

Yes, thank you for stating the obvious that applies to literally every single game.
It doesn't change the fact that no matter how much you fix in the game or add to the game, some people are still gonna find DBD's base gameplay loop monotonous because despite the variations, it's still the same in the end.
Nor does it change the fact that there will always be people playing DBD regardless of the state it's in.
Yeah I guess so. I just hope most people don't decide to just keep quiet cause the bugs are only gonna get worse from now on if they don't start fixing them

This game mode is very successful which is why they keep bringing it back. I am glad they do. As I mentioned - the most I have ever waited was 15 minutes in a queue to be killer. If you have a friend to do it with, its definitely worth it.
Probably but I guess I will pass again. I just don't have the patience to wait for that. If they just keep the gamemode I would try it because then people would actually stop playing only that after a bit .

Waiting a whole hour seems really extreme. Especially since survivor queues are nearly instant. I’m in NA and I am not sure what region you are in of course but my avg wait time was 12-15 minutes at most 9 at the shortest wait time. (Literally had to time it)
I presume it’s not the same for every region which is understandable so I get it. I might just be luckyYou know funny thing I never played killer on the 2v8 because I can't wait 100 years for a match as killer. I tried survivor a few times but that is about it. Definitely not worth the time to waste and wait until you get a match because everyone wants to be killer. This gamemode just does not work well honestly.

I personally like that bubble, makes it easier to tell where a Survivor is hooked from. I'd be fine with it being removed via some perk, but i don't think it should to be removed completely.
But regardless, I hope that they start to make some changes as I've seen bugs with Houndmaster for example — where she summons the dog and it gets stuck in one place, while it just continues to bark over and over again. I think the community just wants many changes due to how monotonous DBD has become to play, to be fair.
As far as i can tell, the most egregious bugs that plagued Houndmaster have been fixed with the recent bug fix patch and i haven't noticed any new bugs with her either.
Also the truth is that if the game feels monotonous to you already, then it's most likely going to feel so regardless of how many QOL features they do, as the gameplay loop will still remain the same in the end.
Only way for it to not feel that way, is if bhvr by some unrealistic chance decides to create some new game mode with entirely new gameplay forms for both Survivors and Killers that changes how you play the game completely.
If they actually fix all the bugs and also fix the lag people easily get on their servers the gameplay loop may be the same but it will be 200% better because it is smooth and enjoyable. Also basically if you produce quality product everyone will talk about it and give positive feedback to everyone. Although that was obvious and if you don't well then everyone will start saying the truth that your product is absolutely broken and falsely advertised as good for example and they will do everything possible to deny it is worth even a try. Pretty much keep your game stable you get to keep growing don't keep the game stable everyone will eventually leave and forget about it. Maybe this game is the only one of its kind for now that kinda works but you can't really keep on going on hopes that every fan you got will sit by you like a lapdog.

The very core "issue" of DBD - this game doesn't have any worth competitors of the genre. If there was a game that is nearly as good as DBD (threatens DBD to withdraw\steal players) - watch how immediately the developers are working numerous times better.
The lack of competitors usually being "greeted" by lazyness, and lack of desire to try better\be better.
The quality of the game would've been MUCH better if the game were having any competitors that threatens to withdraw a playerbase.
I've said nothing new btw, DBD was not having any worthwhile competitors since the very 2016.
You are right at least for their specific genre however they still got competition they kinda forgot and that is literally every other game in existence. I don't know if someone would preffer to play the buggy mess that is DBD right now over Half life 1 for example. It is a no brainer obviously you will go for this old classic instead of a new buggy mess right? At least I hope so there is just so many other games if you let your game spiral into barely playable mess people will just play something they can actually play and enjoy without bugs right at least that is my logic I don't know.

I hear back and forth debate on this killer "He's one of the best killers" to "He is so bad, his ability sucks!" personally I am just standing in the thin wall between these 2 sides. I think he's a good killer with a poorly designed ability similar to like The Pig, The Trapper (even though I enjoy him) and The Nightmare until recent buff.
Starting with add-ons
like quite a few killers in the game the ultra rares for Deathslinger are toilet paper
Iridescent Coin: This one is able to kind of boost Deathslinger's effectiveness but at the same time it completely defeats the purpose of managing to snipe a survivor with the redeemer as it only grants exposed status effect for close range shots, this should be buffed to where a survivor hit from any range suffers exposed.
Hellshire Iron: Ok what good is being undetectable after you landed a shot on a survivor and are reeling them in?? Should be able to grant undetectable for maybe 30 seconds or so after landing a shot on a survivor.
Next is buffs to the redeemer itself. Main thing I think is a better sight to make aiming easier cause often times feels like the shots are off-center, second should be around a 15 meter range buff, and increase on escape time. I forgot the add-on for this (honey locust? rusted spike?) but the one that makes survivors get injured when breaking free from the spear, that should be made a basekit ability and that has been a issue for me since I started using this killer, his ability doesn't even injure survivors. A new and much needed feature I think is needed is a redesign in the reeling in to where when you say shoot a survivor over a pallet or someone drops a pallet in front of you as you're pulling someone towards you, or maybe shot them at a vault point you should be able to pull survivors over dropped pallets and vault points when reeling them in.
That be the main things I'd like to see, on a side note something I think would be extra neat is redoing him all together where he is now able to swap between both the redeemer gun and like a breakaction shotgun for shooting survivors and injuring or downing them but takes longer to reload and has poor range, it basically be for hitting survivors at closer ranges why the redeemer would be for longer range.
I agree he needs buffs. Survivors easily can pre run him which tunrs him into walking simulator the terror radius should be 24 meters because he is 4.4 m killer but of course behaviour decided to not do that even though they said it is a standard but they ignore it for this killer. Same for the speed too. Without monitor and abuse he is half way towards unplayable because survivors run away when they hear him. Your suggestions are not great though iridescent coin is good it is actually one of the only goood add ons for him. Hellshire definitely needs a rework though as it is worthless same for the chain itself cause it can even break at maximum distance shot which removes the coin effect and that has happened to me at least once where I could not hit the survivor even though I caught them at the maximum shot distance. This guy needs some love as he has not been touched at all and he now got extra nerfed because you can't see your reloading progress bar which I call a nerf no matter what people say.

What courage. What will power. Just DC against anything that gives you difficulty.
His guards don't even go through walls. They go through pallets and windows, slowly. You shouldn't really get hit by them when the Knight isn't also there, so that would be a skill issue. And in the cases where the Knight is also there, him trying to get a guard hit on you in an attempted double tap, he probably would've ended the chase faster just chasing normally, with no power.
Sorry to dissapoint you but yeah his guards really did just walk straight to me through walls with no windows. The moment they spawned and detected me they just walked through the wall and hit me. I really don't care if you believe me I am not blind I saw what happened. And yeah yeah I can appreciate the sarcasm :D I don't care much anyways if you don't like me for that at least I am looking after my sanity unlike some people who will still try to push through killers they hate. Also pls let us not pretend like half the game is not filled with bugs about 1/4 of the killers suffer some sort of bug. And also also don't worry I am more interested in waiting for halloween so I get some new killers and survivors on discount to get their perks and achievements and maybe after I own all free characters I can call it game completed, for now I will just focus on some actually fun and less toxic games that actually deserve labour of love award like Deep Rock Galactic, Project Zomboid, Team Fortress 2 although not very loved these years, Minecraft, Subnautica and so on. Don't worry I am mostly here just to check what is new and see what discussion there is. Hell maybe I will be here after I am fully done with dead by daylight too just to watch what insane changes happen with time.

No I know what you're saying and I definitely play against SWFs at night for sure. I'm just saying I've been playing long enough that if SBMM isn't finding me hard matches now I don't know if it ever will, that's what the thread is about cuz it feels like the game has shifted too much to one side.
I mean it's also possible it's just nobody knowing how to play against Hag but I keep hearing people say Hag is unplayable so idk anymore.
Yeah I can see it if I play survivor I just get to play sacrifice simulator sadly. Every game feels like that now and I am not even skilled at the game I just want to do generators and play against someone on my level not another 2000 hours player. You would be surprised how many of them I get and I am just 500 hours at most and most of that time is on a killer

Yeah the pendulum has definitely swung too far in the other direction. I’ve been warning of this for quite a long time now but people didn’t want to hear it.
And now we have an epidemic of survivors giving up every match because they’re dissatisfied with the game.
Thankfully the solution to the problem was actually really simple I just went to play something else after both sides got to the point of being unplayable so now I am enjoying my other fun games where the people who play them are not either toxic monsters or annoyingly foolish in their game. Honestly feels nice not to deal with these things. I think I will just wait for Halloween so I buy some new characters on discount and just get the achievements for them and then I will be kinda getting towards completion of the game really. Because after you get all achievements you can without paying behaviour extra you pretty much won the game and there is nothing else to do unless you want to go to the highest mmr and suffer I guess. It is a possibility

Yeah, flashlights need to be fixed. Tired of being blinded from off screen. Another reason not to hook.
I wonder what the heck could be causing that. Honestly what kind of spaghetti code could do such a thing

That is how it should be because stressing so much over the game only to be rewarded with nothing seems unreasonable. Killers definitely need an incentive to actually play against survivor friends considering how more difficult the game becomes against them.

Gonna keep this a sort of brief summary rather than go into a deep and detail discussion.
First is the guards in general. Hitting a hunted survivor with The Knight should not stop a chase, that is honestly rather annoying especially with how slippery some survivors can be, and next landing a hit on a survivor shouldn't stop a hunt they should be able to continue the hunt as long as there is time left or the standard is grabbed and allow a guard like the Jailer or Assassin a chance at downing a survivor. This would make better usage out of the guards and allow for a bit more "oppression" especially on some more maze like maps where survivors can loop easier.
Next is the detection radiuses. The way survivors can avoid detection by like crouching behind walls or being in a different room on like indoor maps is rather frustrating and completely ruins the setup of the guards and the purpose of having a detection radius, should be able to detect survivors through walls when they are pretty close and additionally, the green radius ring shouldn't be visible to survivors as that too makes them far to easy to avoid.
The assassin feels like he needs a speed buff considering he is the main guard for hunting and yet he seems to be outran by even wounded survivors often and that seems a bit ridiculous IDK if he got nerfed or what but speed boost
The Carnifex not much to really say on this one but one thing I think should be added to this one is he can down an uninjured survivor in a single hit considering he is sort of the "muscle guy" of the 3 and has a large blade and being sort of slow it would at least make him see more usage for chases and be more rewarding if he lands a hit.Well good luck with that after my last game with Knight I am never playing against him like at all. No way am I playing against his stupid guards who walk through walls while I am forced to deal with material obstacles. Everyone else can have fun abusing bugs to deal with him or just somehow dodge him I will just end myself on the hook to avoid the pain of dealing with the bs that is his guards walking through walls :D

If you promise to repeat this passionate statement again, I'll make it a separate post in the Suggestions. Maybe more people will think it's a good idea and it will be easier to see there, so that it has a better chance of being accepted by BHVR.
The way it is here at the moment, it could easily go under, unless by some chance a BHVR employee reads the whole thing seriously.
I definitely would lol it is just the pure truth. Although behaviour does not acknowledge most complaints sadly

I would go out of my way to get those stacks over most anything else, and I bet most others felt the same way. Gotta get my stonks!
Very much so. Hooking was a lot more satisfying with the BBQ stacks. After BBQ lost the BP stacks, I stopped caring about hooking as much. I became a lot more likely to slug rather than fight for hooks if the survivors had Boil Over or Sabo or anything.
yeah if I dont have lightborn I am just scared to pick up. They will blind you even if you don't seem them at all. They canb lind from the far far corner of your eye which is really weird

If we wanted to remove the SWF teams from the balancing considerations, I would suggest significantly increasing the blood points for a game against a SWF. And I'm talking about factor here, not total. So 50% more BP per SWF member in the survivor team. So with 3 people entering the game as SWF (which the game knows because it requires a separate entry and is not a random entry) that would be a total of 250% BP (100% normal plus 3 times 50% on top), with a minimum of 200% if there are only two SWF players in the round.
This makes the stress you have with them worthwhile for the killer and at least compensates him for the beating he will inevitably receive.
We then balance the game around the solos and thus have an equaliser that everyone can enjoy.
NOW THAT seems like a good thing to add because I am indeed tired to play against survivor friends and get no conpensation for it. Only insults for refusing to participate in their little game in the end game chat. It is fascinating how they think they are so good and rightous meanwhile they use map offering they are prestige 100 and they got all second chance perks and ultra rare add ons and then they complain why I gave up. Who wants to play against this ######### for no actual reason? Nobody is the answer especially without any reward.

@WolfgangGarou said:
I seem to remember that they were generated because a few well-placed bone totems, together with a few cheaply spawned totems, could practically cover the entire played map. Which then created too much of a power imbalance between the teams, especially since bone totems can be reignited and hex totems are lost for good as soon as they are cleared.
My suggestion to fix this would be to extend the range, but after the killer has cleared the corresponding totem, the perk becomes just as inactive for the rest of the match as a hex totem.
The corresponding survivor must therefore think carefully about when and where to place the bone totem, but can also be sure that it will be relevant. And before someone comes up with the argument that hex totems take much longer to be cancelled than bone totems - in theory, the same totem can be created four times in a four-man team if everyone invests a perk slot for it. That makes up for a lot.
Nice again we gotta balance the game around survivor friends because they ruin everything everywhere. Very nice indeed. I guess we will never have the freedom from swf squads. Which sucks honestly.

There's a bigger conversation to be had around that question, which probably should be on a different thread.
However, it is competitive in nature, as in it pits players against each other, and has things like SBMM to ensure some type of match fairness.
The devs kind of have a foot in both camps (casual v competitive) as to what they want this game to be, but you could 100% call this game competitive, but not eSports level ready or anything.
Either way, the conversation is kind of irrelevant to this thread, as the DC penalty isn't going anywhere.
Yeah apparently but it is indeed deserved to leave. And also I find it very unfair that survivors also start bullying you for leaving and not playing with them when you see a map offering and the fact they are survivor friends after the match. It is honestly sad that they get to be acting like that with no consequences the saddening truth about the internet D: no idea why they have to be such broken individuals. It is just funny how everyone gets away with being rude, toxic and bullying the killer. Most of the time it is the survivors doing it which is sad. Honestly playing with friends on discord call is just straight up cheating and they know it but still they act like they are better.

A lot of games have DC penalties to ensure there's no early leavers. That's just standard on a lot of competitive games these days, as an early leaver can ruin the match pretty quickly.
It sounds like you're in a pretty rough situation, but at some point you have to take care of yourself. I have AuDHD too, and I've had to put down the game for a while at some points because it wasn't really bringing me any joy anymore, it was just causing frustration and boredom. I've gone on months long breaks and picked up the game afterwards, and I found a renewed sense of fun when I came back.
I know it can be frustrating to have to put down something you really enjoy, this game has been my special interest for years at this point, and I've been pretty sad when I've had to step away every time, but every time it was for the best.
If the game is giving you more trouble than fun, you do not have to play it, and I would advise you go on a break. DBD isn't going anywhere anytime soon and you'll be able to pick it back up whenever you want.
The DC penalty will not be removed (the devs have made that very clear), and if being unable to disconnect in these kinds of matches is giving you this much grief, it's time to step away for a bit.
So dead by daylight is competitive game now? Are you sure. Is it marketed as competitive game? I dunno I personally don't think it should be competitive but the toxic survivor freind squads and toxic killers made it so. Now everyone has to play like a goddamn sweat every game and the killer must tunnel the entire game cause otherwise they lose. I dunno I don't like this crap and I don't even know games that have dc penalties to begin with? It seems to me this whole system is dumb no matter how much hate I get for it I will continue thinking it is dumb to have dc penalties especially for a game that you paid.

"Not so sure about this. You stated that it’s a DC epidemic, but can the solution to a DC epidemic really be more DCs? At least not for the killer, who often has survivors DCing when they're losing, but never when they're winning."
I should've called it bandaid fix rather, not a proper solution. The main problem that stems from DCs is that the rest of the players are forced into a match with (almost always) predetermined outcome which is fun for nobody. Those players can avoid this by DCing without a penalty to search for a proper match. If I had an option to waste time in a doomed match vs not doing that, I would choose latter.
Tbh nowadays the games are already decided anyways. Almost every game the killer is tunneling at 5 or 4 generators which leads to team wipe even if you do one more generator he already has 1 kill and already won because he can get the rest easier. That is literally every single game btw. Literally no matter the killer they all immediately start tunneling. You save they come back they abandon chase just to tunnel. So yes every game is decided unless its survivor with friend squad then they can do something about it but that is it.

It's up to you man. End of the day I'm just another crank on the Internet, it's up to you how much faith you want to have in what I'm telling you and whether or not you want to implement it.
Fact is, there is a reason camping is used in comp games, and a reason the AFC is banned. Yes SoloQ is not Comp, but that doesn't mean anything that applies to comp is completely inapplicable and should be totally discounted by SoloQ players.
You can still adapt comp principles to have a limited application in SoloQ to your advantage, which is what I do regularly, and between the 2 of us, I think its fair to say I am far less annoyed at DBD than you are...
You are damn right pal. You are damn right. You are less annoyed. If I play survivor I can only see unbalanced ######### and same with killer. I only see survivor friends with 2000 hours being bullies. You are right you got less problems with this game than me. If we had bot killers as option I would always play with a bot than a stupid ass humans. Because 99% of games are toxic survivors and kilelrs camping tunneling being rude being rage baiters. And that is without starting to talk about how some killer powers are just broken and unfairly designed. Like knights guards going through walls, Tricksters stupid spamming of knives, singularity camera spams, xenomorphs power, survivor perks who are literally pay 2 win and have not been nerfed ever because they know they are ######### pay 2 win. It is incredible how much imbalance and unfairness this game possesses

You think everyone is supposed to have fun implementing the anti camp strategies every game? If you have not noticed every lost game is due to tunneling and camping which is kinda sad.
Yes absolutely... because it's how the game works... you don't even need to take gen rush and anti tunnel perks, because the principle is this...
If you want to stop a killer from camping and tunneling, you have to make sure it isn't easy for them to do so... how do we do that, what points and principles can we use?
- You have up to 70s to unhook a survivor for each stage... that is about 75% of a gen. The killer needs a reason to leave, and cranking gens is it.
- There are 3 other survivors, the AFC makes it so that even just 1 survivor should be able to trade. Use the HUD, at LEAST 1 person should be on a gen at all times through that hook stage, preferably 2.
- The sooner you unhook a survivor, the faster they can die to tunneling. The hook is the safest place they can be. Only unhook when the killer is far, or when absolutely necessary.
- If you get chased while a survivor is on hook, make sure you take the killer as far away from hook as possible.
- Finally if a survivor is taking the killer away from hook through chase (use the HUD!), ONE survivor should come off gens to go for the unhook.
If survivors follow these principles, tunneling is nowhere near as effective, and camping gets completely smashed.
There are killers like Blight, Billy, Nurse, Spirit, etc who have the map traversal and lethality to be able to effectively tunnel off hook even while pressuring gens and hooking other survivors. That's why these killers are so strong... and in these cases you likely will need perks and powerful items to help you... but against most of the roster you can make tunneling quite unprofitable.
Don't forget that actually if the killer manages to down a survivor next to the hook the timer will never move. No matter if the survivor is in the dying state.
At this point the killer is not the one who wins the game it is just the survivors giving him the win almost all the time
Absolutely yes... this is entirely the fault of the survivor for getting caught near the hook.
And yes survivors are giving killers the win... and this is fine, because if the survivors make a bad mistake that rewards the camp playstyle, that is on them.
I've lost count of the number of times I've been tunneled because my teammates unhook me within 15s, or loop the killer near my hook when I am getting close to losimg a stage... if I'm camped my teammates keep coming off gens to try and help, not realising that by not doing gens and not forcing the killer to choose between me and gens... they are granting the killer the one thing they should be punishing him on, time... by doing so they are signing my death sentence...
I guarantee if you start following these rules, you'll start seeing a massive drop in how effective these styles of play are in your games... you can't stop your teammates screwing it up, but you can at least stop making the same mistake.
Very nice imagination but solo que is solo que you either get morons for teammates or very good survivors and about the killer it is 50 50 if its gonna be someone with a brain or not. So sadly even if I follow these principles which should not be a requirement every game for me to think like a ######### competitive champion I will still lose and if I dont use second chance perks I will lose even further so nope sadly the realitiy is much different than your idea of every single solo que survivor being a very smart person and somehow reading minds

@TragicSolitude said:
As killer, I've used the anti-facecamp feature to get survivors off the hook when their teammates refuse to save them.
I've had killers do the same for me as survivor.
The AFC feature is good. What's needed is something in the UI that tells survivors the AFC meter is going up (or would go up if they'd stop crouching around the hook staring but doing nothing). I really hate how many times I've died because teammates crouch around stopping the AFC meter from filling up.
Don't forget that actually if the killer manages to down a survivor next to the hook the timer will never move. No matter if the survivor is in the dying state. If he is next to the hook or nearby the killer gets free face camping with no consequences actually. Overall this system is not doing its job on discouraging killers to camp it just tells them stay like 15 meters away so they dont escape for free is all. And yeah what you said is true. The teammates also get you killed. At this point the killer is not the one who wins the game it is just the survivors giving him the win almost all the time
-
@UndeddJester said:
I disagree, it isn't a failure at all, from a game design perspective it is doing exactly what it is intended to do, and I think it achieves that admirally… and your issue lies in the fact you're only thinking about what the AFC gives you personally, and not thinking about the AFC gives you in terms of all of the survivors as a team, which is a complete counter to camping strategies when used correctly.
You can see this in how different types of players react wildly different to the same feature:
- For more casually minded players, they argue it doesn't really do anything.
- For more competitive minded players, they argue it does way too much to restrict the killer and is a broken feature that should be removed.
So why is there this disparity?
For most survivor casual players, they are primarily focused on a micro scale, i.e. their direct interactions with the killer. Their gameplay goals centres directly on their chases on a 1 to 1 level, and camping gives them a directly negative chance of surviving the game, with no new killer interactions, and thus an overall bad experience.
Survivors with a more competitive minded mindset however are looking at it on a more macro scale, i.e. how this interaction affects the killer's pressure in trial on the survivor team as a whole. A killer who is camping out a survivor on hook has no pressure on the actual trial and gens, and thus the survivors as a group sitting 3 people on gens gain an enormous amount of uncontested progress and very are likely in a winning scenario.
The teams overall chances of survive massively benefits a killer camping a survivor on hook if the survivors use the time the killer gives them.
Well this game isn't comp… you shouldn't be comparing it to comp…
What this means in a nutshell is the reasons you guys believe the Anti Face Camp system sucks, is because it simply doesn't prevent camping (by design)…. and you don't want to be camped. Camping directly negatively affects your individual chance to win, thus semantically there is no real significant difference really for you between being face camped or proxy camped… however that is not the AFC's purpose.
To successfully camp out a survivor, the killer must maintain a distance from the hook, which means when combined with the removal of the hook grab, it is almost impossible to make a scenario where a survivor cannot trade. When survivors are playing the macro game, focusing gens and using the fact this killer isn't pressuring them to camp, the survivors as a team are gaining a massive advantage, getting gens done entirely for free over the 70-140s the camped survivor is on hook… the killer is putting themselves at a massive disadvantage IF the survivors take full advantage of it.
If the survivors as a team work on gens unimpeded, and only move towards hook when the timer is getting close, then due to the distance the killer must remain in range of the hook, they have ample time to make the trade on their terms. If they have further anti camp/tunnel defences (OTR, DS, Blood Rush, Reassurance, Camaradarie, Shoulder the Burden, etc.), they can put the killer even further behind, to the point they are likely looking at a 1k maximum, or 0k due to the killers extreme lack of pressure for such an extended period of time.
Your issue is most SoloQ players don't understand these principles, and do not make use of hook timers anywhere near as much as they should…. but you absolutely can employ these principles in soloQ to great effect, and if you play with these principles in mind, and have a team of SoloQ survivors who understands this principle as well, you will be surprised how much more difficult life is for even strong killer players, even as a SoloQ player.
Why I believe the AFC is great
So to my mind the AFC is a great feature. If you exploit all the mechanisms the game gives you (notably hook timers), you gain a huge appreciation for this feature… tactically thinking about what benefits the killer the most at any given time, and then denying it makes the AFC a very strong feature to play around.
However the double edged sword is you also gain massive contempt for survivors when the entire team comes off gens to get you off hook while you're being camped… if no one is on gens, there is no benefit to the team for you being camped, and even worse, no one is creating a scenario where the killer has to choose between camping or leaving…. and that is extremely frustrating to watch with your yellow auras.
In short, the AFC is a much bigger part of the tactile macro gameplay of DBD, not the direct 1to1 micro gameplay… and as a more tactical player (with meh mechanics), this feature gives me a method to shine in a game where my shoddy mechanical skills let me down ^^
I read this entire explanation and I can only understand that you think everyone is supposed to have fun implementing the anti camp strategies every game? If you have not noticed every lost game is due to tunneling and camping which is kinda sad. After the 10th you can't really say gg or even congratulate the killer. He just tunnels one person out and automatically wins and those of us who got no anti tunnel perks or don't want to use anti tunnel perks and second chances every single game just get to suffer because we refuse to participate in a sweaty game everytime. I dunno that is what the reality is. Everyone has to use the same 6 or 8 perks and if they don't they just automatically put themselves into a disadvantage and get no fun out of the game.

There is no real solution man, mostly because they will know the reqiurements to avoid it or will go afk. Or do something worse like sabotage the game instead.
