why didn’t you listen to all our concerns during the ptb that you way over buffed him why do you release killers in a over buffed state
You are probably just getting some toxic Freddies who only want to slug tunnel and camp. I mean come on every game is that anyways not to mention the unbalanced matches where they put prestige 3 survivor with prestige 90 killer AMAZING LOGIC MY dude

Meeeeehhhh, it is what it is really... if you're finding it more annoying/frustrating than you are fun, it's good to take a break from it.
For some reason I'm generally quite chill about DBD, sure I get mad from time to time, but I used to be a proper rage head back when I was playing things like CoD4, TF2, CSS and LoL.
Not really sure why Ive mellowed out, the game just seems to click with me.... and I suppose after you've been in a toxic war involving mothers and various global diseases over the mic with a bunch of Chavs in a ka_soccer Counter Strike server... a few tea baggers or ground humpers do little more than raise an eyebrow... and start to look kinda adorable really on that scale 😅
Good for you honestly I never have had such rude people in TF2 that was the game I played before the most. As for DBD it was fun before but now I got to the point where I get matched with people totally outside of my league. Behaviour and their half baked matchmaking is the problem because they both made it skillbased but at the same time it is not really skillbased because they made a giant gap so the people in high mmr get to play with people with lower mmr so it becomes just a giant mess. I already took a very long break before I will take one again. I had some fun but honestly my favourite killers are just nerfed or worthless in a scenario where survivors use a bit of logic to counter you and even if you do it right you still dont get enough value out of your power Deathslinger and Legion are such killers then there is killers as survivor that are just outright broken like Singularity, Xenomorph or Trickster with his unfun knives that are just spamming. Pretty much I am taking a very nice long break :D I got other games to have fun with.

Well yes for new perks, though I'd personally prefer BHVR err on the side of caution rather than make another MFT, DH or H:TotH situation.
We've had so many perks buffed to be really good now, such as DS, Resurgence, Babysitter, Blood Rush, WGLF, Grim Embrace, etc, etc.
I see potential for Invocations, and Weaving Spiders is good if you use it properly, however Treacherous Crows badly needs an Overhaul to the entire concept of Invocations.
Shoulder the Burden is also good if you use it properly, problem is people tend insist on getting the value even if it's not a good time to use it, which I myself am guilty of. If you've been hooked already and you StB, that's a bad time to use it... you should only use it if you are 0 hook stages and another player is at 2. I'd combine it with something like Vigil and Sprint Burst if it were me, maybe Camaradarie or Blood Rush.
Honestly the big issue I have with StB is killers don't tunnel enough in my games, which I can only assume is because either I am so lucky to always get the nicest killers, or because I observe good unhook/gen discipline, I make it very unprofitable for the killer to tunnel. 🤷
Anyway I'm an off meta player, and the number of good perks available to me for builds now is quite long.
Alright did it I uninstalled this game :D I am not gonna be touching it for a while now I think. Honestly just too annoying to see toxic survivors and killers. I just want to beat them up for being such rude human garbage honestly. They deserve to be beaten up badly for being so rude to everyone

To be fair there is no reason to be playing survivor anymore. What is the point of we see the same overpowered stuff? You think killers use anything new or survivors use anything different. Everyone uses the same meta every game. I can see it almost all the time the same perks I never see anything different on both sides. I am starting to hate how annoying and sweaty the game has become. Honestly I think I will just uninstalled the game and continue writing here because honestly it is more fun discussing how ######### unfair and unbalanced this game is than actually playing it.

So after the rework that Freddy recieved, quite a lot of survivors, especially casual or solo q, had a difficult time with Freddy because it wasn't immediately clear how to play against him. Waking up before healing, avoiding the dream pallets entirely and maximizing distance around loops when caught by a dream snare.
Now take good survivors who have figured this out, and Freddy feels really bad at loops and his teleport becomes half has good since good survivors can limit when he can teleport for the heal. Freddy's power is a lot of gimmick that's dependent on survivors mistakes and ignorance rather than the skill level of the person playing him.
Well good luck honestly. Most of the solo que survivors are just tired of dying so you are left with just assclown survivor friends who have a need to be absolute #########. Literally every game has to be sweat and when you don't play sweaty you are certain to get some toxic people. I am right now just reconsidering if I should uninstall the game honestly. I get 1 or 2 good games and after that I will get toxic survivors or get outplayed horribly by survivor friends when I am playing killer I am playing less off. You are just not allowed to have a whole lot of fun in this game. Doesn't matter the damn side. We both get the same stupid treatment doesn't matter the killer. There is always survivors who will make a mockery of every killer and the opposite. So ######### it man. The entire game is ######### this is a horrible game design and behaviour does not care really. They never manage to rework the killers right enough. So I guess the best we can do is complain on the forums while we get ignored because at the end of the day we are not important only the guys who buy cosmetics are important.

Yeah, I don't play as much unless I have friends online or I'm grinding the battle pass.
Even now, there's a bug where it shows the survivors grayed out like they're in a match lol.
Yes, I don't mind people who use selfish perks - I don't want it to seem like I'm adamantly against them as I enjoy perk variety and I always advocate for the less used perks to get buffs.
However, if their argument is to nerf "rat" playstyles, then they need to center their focus on actual selfish perks and not focus on a perk that benefits the entire team. That is what Wake Up is and like you said, any perk can be selfish. Windows of Opportunity, any exhaustion perk, even Finesse can be considered selfish perks but they provide the user with utility to keep their chases going. The Wake Up nerf is a bad precedent going forward if we're going to nerf perks that hardly get any value or use in DBD. It was already a niche perk, the change still would have been keeping its nicheness as many survivors do NOT bring perks that typically helps others.
Absolutely agreed. It is what I said earlier. If we start fixing problems like this things are only going to get worse. It is just insane to break perks like that for no logical reason. Even looking at the specific scenario if one person lives only cause of the speed bonus it does not matter as the killer won at the end no matter what. So yeah we gotta stop breaking all perks because of one specific thing happening once in a thousand years.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't be forced to play selfishly, but if their argument is that people will play selfishly - why opt to change the perk that isn't selfish when there's an entirely selfish counterpart that already exists?
How are we painting Wake Up as a rat perk, yet not the other selfish related perks? I don't really mind them because I hardly see selfish perks in my time of playing DBD other than the odd Urban Evasion.
Dont worry I don't consider wake up as selfish whatsoever. Others say it is selfish and I said a while ago that any perk can be used selfishly. I completely agree with you that it was dumb decision. Honestly nerfing any of the perks seems dumb they already are underused and barely see the light of day yet behaviour decides to nerf them further which feels redundant. I know sole survivor does feel good perk but imagine if you had 20 matches in a row where your entire team dies and well you decide let me use that one perk that actually rewards me if I am the last one left. It is not specifically about selfishness tbh I never have had the chance to use these perks but I would gain quite a bit of value from sole survivor since it is very easy to get to the situation of being the only one left in solo que and you don't even need to be playing for that part to happen.

Yeah, I was playing with my friend that I usually duo-que and games were rough as per usual.
1-2 gens left and almost every game was a 1 person out or no one lived in general. That's why I don't understand the weakening of Wake Up to make it worsen the more people die.
I see people dcing on hook (especially those people on death hook and dcing as the entity kills them ☠️), killing themselves on hook, so let's make Wake Up that was a universal perk that could work in all situations to a more weaker SWF perk as a whole. I won't be surprised that the drop rate of the perk goes down or MORE people pair it with Sole-Survivor to get more use out of a perk that was fine before this nerf.
yeah I just wish behaviour cared to fix all the bugs and all the perks and maybe actually play their own game. But nope I guess we won't have that anytime soon. I guess I will just play for fun. Honestly the most fun I am having when playing survivor is doing side objectives because I don't have to get tunneled for it. It is actually relaxing to have something else to do rather than gens

And Self-Preservation.
I can see your Low Profile build, but I suppose the only time I've seen it was a stealthing Ada (non-adept) so, I didn't think of slugging builds to pick people up with the perk.
I kinda forget about Clairvoyance, but I don't really see the perk in general. The only time I ever saw it get used was when you could phase through the killer with the window tech lol.
All these survivor perks are balanced in their own right. The problem is when a few people complain that somehow everyone is using a rat build or something although that almost never happens. And honestly who can blame them right now when almost every game is a loss anyways. Or maybe the whole community wants everyone to use 4 anti tunnel second chance perks which is not a good alternative at all because it turns into a sweat fest. Pretty much not fair to try and remove hide and seek from the game as much as they hate it because it is literally part of the game to hide sometimes. Not sure why some people has it in their head that nobody should hide and everyone should play the same way because someone said so

That is true also. Behaviour is notorious for buffing and nerfing the wrong perks as usual although honestly if they did not nerf anything everything was gonna be great. This whole ordeal has happened because they decided to nerf Wake up AND HONESTLY I THINK THEIR LITTLE STORY about oh some people complained that it might get used with sole survivor is just a lame excuse at best because nobody in their right mind is gonna be complaining that much about a ######### combo that you see every 100-1000 games?

Anyways I am done with my comments I think obviously I got my opinion that everyone should have the freedom to choose what they wanna do. After all this is a game about survival and everyone chooses how to survive or win in their own way. I can't force people to do what I want same goes for everyone else. We all choose what to do and that is it. If you hate selfish perks fair enough just dont forget most perks can be used selfishly and to name a few that you probably did not think of….. self care, botany, knowledge, self preservation, distortion still can be used, hope can be used, bond can be used, kindred, dark sense, every other aura reading perk to know where the killer is and, every single chest perk and so on. Literally any perk can be used selfishly. If you remove the perks that were specifically made for those who wanna be selfish specifically sole survivor and left behind then please get all perks out of the way. People can use so many perks for their selfish ways so that they get their teammates killed that it is hilarious. After you remove the perks which are picked most the selfish people will find other ways to survive longer.

Not everyone that was using pre-nerfed Eruption, was forcing massively long 3-gen games, but the perk still got nerfed because some people were doing this. Likewise, it's fair to nerf perks like Sole Survivor and Wake Up, because of what some people are doing with them.
You do know when that happens nobody will use these super situational perks right if we are talking about usage that is? If we talk about selfishness still as long as keys and lockers exist there will always be people who choose to be selfish or will hide. So I wanna ask after those perks get nerfed what will be next? Will you make lockers inaccessible after you hid in them for a 1 minute will you remove keys or just nerf them? See the problem is if you start with perks you gotta continue to the end to exterminate this playstyle. Absolutely behaviour choice there. I mean they will make the wrong decision as usual. Honestly I got no idea what is the wrong decision when all decisions are wrong on all sides.

The goal isn't to completely stop people from doing bad behaviors. The goal is to NOT ENCOURAGE people to do bad behaviors. When BHVR gives survivors perks like Sole Survivor and pre-nerfed Wake Up, it helps enable selfish behavior.
And if you want to quote official game material, the game manual says "KILLERS SHOULD DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO STOP THEM", when referring to survivors. By that logic, camping, tunneling, slugging, and everything else is 100% approved, because it's part of EVERYTHING.
Sooo we went from survivor problems to killer problems now okay? I mean sure I guess we can't stop killers from tunneling either. To be honest that is the strategy they use almost every game anyways. But right now we are talking about how you guys want someone to not play how they want. I guess we can just complain at best but yeah we can't do anything in both situations. People will do whatever they want. Killers would not have gone towards the tunneling strategy if the game had been balanced enough before to not warrant tunneling every game to secure victory.

I'd rather prefer teammates that aren't sandbagging their team with their selfish Wake Up + Sole Survivor + Left Behind build, where they decided to be selfish before the game had even started.
also yeah you kinda completely ignored the entire point I made and you continue pointing towards the people who choose to play selfishly which is completely in their right by the way since they bought the game and the game itself says they got a choice. I will support this freedom but as I said not everyone is using those perks just to be selfish as I told you I used distortion before to do generators undisturbed which was still benefitting the entire team.

If anything, I would like to see keys get some kind of additional effect that makes them more useful throughout the match without addons (either aura reading or something else, doesn't matter).
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3877561#Comment_3877561
I assume by 4 perks you mean Left Behind/Sole Survivor/Clairvoyance/Low Profile?
Left Behind + Sole Survivor I agree.
Clairvoyance can be fixed by just removing the hatch aura and replacing it with something else (perhaps reveal auras of other survivors?), maybe also increase the duration to make up for it, but it doesn't need a full rework.
I actually don't think Low Profile is as problematic as the rest as while it can be used for selfish purposes it can also be used to save your team in desperate situations (especially if the killer is trying to slug everyone), since unlike Left Behind/Sole Survivor, the other survivors don't have to be dead for it to activate, just downed or hooked is enough. Occasionally I'll run Low Profile + Unbreakable + a healing perk (either Botany, Desperate Measures, or WGLF, or two of those) and I've had matches where being able to run to survivors without the killer noticing or being able to track me combined with faster healing has saved the game, especially since the no scratchmarks/pools of blood/grunts of pain lasts a full 90 seconds even if you pick someone up. Obviously this won't come into play every game, but nonetheless it is a way to use Low Profile altruistically and there's no other survivor perk that can do everything it does for as long as it does.
I will repeat myself again XD if people want to be selfish they will pick a key then hop lockers the entire game until everyone is dead. Even if they remove left behind, sole survivor and anything else. Although even without those you can use about half the perks selfishly. I mean Jun Jin has a perk that is literally made to be selfish by letting someone else getting hit. Her entire character is selfishness. Anyone who wants to be selfish will play like that even if you remove every selfish perk. That is how it is and even the dbd store page says so that you get the option to survive alone. They better make it bannable offense to be selfish and remove that advertisement if they want literally everyone to be playing with their team. I still think anyone can do whatever they like with their playstyle. Because lets be real here if we will remove hiding as a playstyle then we should also remove every other playstyle that could be annoying to someone else.

Nah, don't touch the keys. I just started using Blood Amber and Prayer Beads.😭
But yeah, I agree it's really not problematic at all and just rework selfish perks. I have seen people talking about how people would lobby dodge these selfish perks, but if they actually did something to benefit the team — as DBD is a team game, we wouldn't have this issue.
Wake Up was fine the way it was, either revert or keep it the way it was. Rework the four other selfish perks that enable stealthing around and waiting for people to die. Don't touch the keys as I like to mind game with the killer. 😂
I still think people deserve to choose how they wanna play. Even if they outright remove the perks that are considered selfish those who wanna play selfishly will just take a key then hide in a locker all game until everyone is dead. Sadly that is the case, You just can't force people out of their playstyle choice. As much as everyone here apparently hates people who just want to play hide and seek. I mean its their opinion but you can't really force others to do what you want.

You do realise those who choose to be selfish will be selfish even without those perks right? At best they will just use distortion with whatever else they choose if you remove sole survivor and left behind. So really no matter how much you nerf some selfish perks aas you call them you can't stop people from choosing to play selfishly. I guess you can just tell them they are dumb but oh well that is the most you can do honestly. I played by my strenght which was doing generators when distortion was better before. I was not selfish you just want someone to play your way instead of theirs. Which lets be honest is not really right at all you can't tell anybody how to play its their choice.
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
I agree. Sole Survivor and Left Behind should both get reworked. Perks which only have value as the final survivor/for selfish playstyles are not healthy for the game. It's very discouraging for other survivors and there shouldn't be perks that solely encourage/benefit this playstyle. Wake Up was perfect at 50% on the PTB and the nerf it got goes beyond only punishing that playstyle, it makes the buff compared to the previous 25% version less impactful in a 3v1 and completely nonexistent in a 2v1.
I would be okay with making Wake Up only activate if all the generators are finished (ie. not if the gates are powered by closing hatch) as long as it remains at 50% in all scenarios when it's active. If you finish all 5 generators and reach endgame then the perk should be strong no matter what, it does nothing the entire match until that point.
I mean if we are going down that route we also have to delete keys from existence since they are mostly used selfishly. And then we might as well remove hatch because lets be honest some people just play for the hatch. Maybe also they should change their steam page description to "forced team game" instead of "survive together or alone" Sorry but it feels unfair to remove playstyles and force only literally one playstyle. If we are gonna go that route for survivor then we must remove killer playstyles too honestly.

it would be better if sole survivor was nerfed on top of wake up being nerfed. It eventually turns into permanent distortion, and distortion was nerfed because people were using it to excessively hide.
correction a few people used it to hide excessively while others who knew were not good at chase were using it to do generators and not be found by the killer. And before you say "oh you are just ######### survivor go get good" do you really preffer a dead teammate than a teammate that does gens?

I mean I agree with your choices, and just to be clear, I'm not attacking you directly, but I am trying to get you to see the slippery slope.
I think broadly our preferences for killer are in line…. the only Killer I definitely disagree with you on is Xeno because he absolutely can't spam. For the sake of interest I'll talk about Xeno in a spoiler if you're interested, but it's not a requirement.
He drops to 1.2m/s over 3 seconds if he swings, so he absolutely can't spam. This slowdown occurs if he M2s the turret as well, which is incredibly punishing. I'd argue it's just as jukable, and arguably more so than a Huntress hatchet since it's a slimmer hitbox, and bear in mind Xeno has a 0.2s charge up and a 3s recovery, Huntress has a 2s hatchet cooldown and a 0.9s windup so can spam more than Xeno can, and she is only slowed to 3.08m/s while holding and 3.74m/s while recovering from a throw with no range requirement… so a miss on Huntress is FAR less punishing than Xeno.
He can drag like Nemesis, but unlike Nemesis if he hits any form of terrain the hit immediately stops and he can't continue to drag. To drive the point home, Nemesis is only slowed for 2.25s compared to Xeno's 3s, so not only is it far easier for him to hit, he's also punished less for doing it whether he hits or misses. Xeno's only real strong unique part of their kit is the undetectable map traversal, but that is given an early warning to survivors via turrets.
It's hard to see the genuine complaints about Xeno turrets, because most survivors use turrets REALLY badly... in fact most Xeno's have to use the helmet to protect them from turrets as a staple add-on because a well placed turret can ruin your momentum really easily. As an example if you place a single turret on the opposite side of the direction you intend to run, either the Xeno ignores it and gets knocked out of power, has to turn to m1 it which gives you more distance, or has to M2 it which gives you even more distance. I compared turrets to Trapper traps intentionally. Badly placed and obvious traps don't tend to work very well, but one placed in an awkward unexpected place that messes with a survivors pathing work a lot better, and its the same for Xeno turrets.
Thing is even someone like Billy, I have to regularly defend on these forums because people don't like his free map traversal and unlimited chainsaws. As a matter of fact people regularly complain about how "spammy" Hillbilly is, which sounds a lot like your argument… and objectively speaking, they are not wrong… he can use his chainsaw with no limit and spam it as much as he likes until he gets a hit.
I would argue this is fine, and was how Billy was back in his OG release as well and he was consistently everyones favourite killer for years prior to his overheat mechanic being added. What actually has Billy strong is his Overdrive, where a sufficiently skilled Billy now has the speed to basically get hits guaranteed if he aims it right on almost any tile. This is quite hard to do accurately, but this is what actually makes Billy strong, not his "spammy chainsaw".
I imagine you and I likely agree on this point, but would you say it's fine for people to quit against Billy because he "isn't fun" and "spams chainsaw with no skill until he gets a hit" according to quite a number of people nowadays? Because this is currently what a not insignificant number of people think.
Well in the case of Billy it comes down to learning against him. In that case we can't say he is brainless. Even with overdrive he has to think still. But he does get the boost he needs to get the down sometimes. But well in that case we got a survivor that does not want to learn at all. I would always learn against a new killer. Wesker obviously was the same thing. When he came out I could not understand him at first but I can't start complaining about him just cause I haven't learned. But sadly if someone does not want to play they got the right not to play. None of us can tell some random dude what to do. They paid for the game and they get to do whatever they want as long as it does not include a bannable offense. I know I am playing devil's advocate but it is true sadly. Best we can do is try to remove all problems in the game so people stop giving up so easily or leaving instantly. As for xenomorph ok maybe I could be wrong honestly I rarely get him and when I get him everyone dies so I can't say I got enough experience with him. But I will argue one big problem with the paid killers is if you haven't played them you can't fully understand how they work so you can't actually personally see how to counter them. All killers I have played so far and own I know their counter and their weakness but I don't own any strictly paid characters so I can never for sure have knowledge on them no matter if I watch a video still you need personal experience not just explanation is all.

Well.. I have evidence Demo is a favourite… it's literally in my post above…
I take it you're not a fan of Demogorgon and he isn't fun for you… So if you think he's not fun and needs to be changed to be fun, what do you say to the 91% of players who disagree with you from that poll? That your opinion is right, and their opinion is wrong, and they need to shut up and listen to you?
All killers need to be changed to be fun… who is the arbiter on which killer is fun and which isn't?
Who is the one who gets the decide what a killer should be and what a killer shouldn't be?
You haven't defined a killer who is "fun", nor defined what your terms of "fun" are. Is yours the only opinion that matters?
If I assume you like Wesker and find Wesker fun, what do you say to the 19% of players who don't find him fun? Just cause there are less of them, does their opinion suddenly not matter?I'm sorry to say my man, you're not automatically right just cause you think you're right; your opinion is one in the well of millions of other players who all have their own opinions. This is what it means to be subjective, you cannot define what people can and cannot enjoy.
The less polite response to the argument you're making is "Who the hell are you to say your opinion is more valid than everyone elses?". Even people like Otzdarva, Hens, Scott Jund, etc, etc, who's opinions carry a lot of weight with a lot of people, still don't have any more valid a claim to being right than anyone else. They still have to explain their stance and face scrutiny for their opinions.
So I say again, you can you dislike killers for a variety of reasons, maybe a lot of people will agree with you, maybe they won't. However if you think it's fine for you to leave because you don't like a killer, you basically are taking the stance its fine for everyone else to as well, and you don't then get to say "Well I like this killer, so you shouldn't quit", which means you embrace the fact that nearly 90% of games will have a DC.
I said I dont like one thing about demogorgon the hell you mean. And yeah I dont care if someone dcs or not I dont have a killer I love or something I can deal with most killers. Most of them dont have problems to begin with. Wraith, Trapper, Billy and others dont have issues. As for the DEFINITION OF FUN a killer who can use their power with skill and not be brainlessly using it without a thought in the world what they are doing. Aka spamming it until you get a down. I think almost everyone will agree a killer is fun when he has to use skills and thinking with his power. I can't see it being any other way. I think you can agree too probably cause all killers who are liked take actual skill. Billy takes skill and thinking, Wesker takes skill and thinking, Huntress takes it too, same goes for Wraith too and so on and so forth. And they all also got the simple counter of you choosing where you go and if you manage to bloody dodge them or see them coming.
-
since when is demo a favourite anyway. Tbh the only thing I dislike about him is he can just pretend he is gonna shred and then get a free hit. But other than that he is ok for example. You know IF BEHAVIOUR actually cared they would make all killers fun and not broken or annoying in one aspect. If I sit down I will make you a bunch of ideas how the killers who got something annoying about them can be changed to not be annoying to deal with at all. Trickster just give him new power entirely or make his power actually interactable by letting survivors manually reduce the timer. Singularity just needs his sli[pstreams to have a limit because getting lets 3 pallets out of the way after 3 teleports seems absolutely fair and then the slipstream goes away until he reapplies it. Twins well give Victor actual functionality besides downing survivors as him. Let him drag survivors slowly towards you for example and letting survivors interact with him so that it is not a bloody slug fest every game with them. Huntress needs to again have 5 hatchets because 7 is insane and dumb. Myers needs subtle little change like for example a way for survivors to tell if he has a way to kill them instantly. Here is a bunch of ideas for a bunch of killers who need small changes to not be annoying. AND I CAN KEEP GOING because at the end of the day it is not difficult to think of ideas and fixes for all killers. Behaviour are just lazy and dont want to make the game better and they dont care about their fan base at all. DCing against killers you hate and see that they are broken is fair game for me. At the end of the day this happens because behaviour refuses to actually do their damn job. They just want a quick buck and dont care who thinks what.

Sometimes some time off gives a bit of a new perspective.
I basically haven't played soloQ in … since whenever 2v8 ended. There were the occasional swf matches (mostly just cause the other three still enjoy this game and I want to hang out with them and I'm still at least a little better than a bot/your average filler teamie).
But I wanted to get the last few event challenges out of the way so with the mindset to just get those done I Qed up for some soloQ in Chaos Shuffle.
The following things made me scoff and go "yah - nah, ima not stick around longer than I have to".
a) People bringing their most busted stuff. Which happened a lot more with killer; which makes sense. For killers add-ons can be pretty stand alone, for surv it's usually the synergy between certain perks and items that can be problematic under some circumstances. —— Once it becomes clear one side has busted stuff and the other does not there really is no point in being a punching bag. —— It's not necessarily the killer's fault - at least in normal Q - because how would they know what survs bring? If anything it's an issue with matchmaking not taking full loadouts into account.
b) Ping. Facing Blight on 250ms? Heck nah.
c) Refusing to hook as a "preemptive measure" or sometimes just to be obnoxious - I get that if a survivor got freed from your grip two times already you're fed up and go "if that's how you wanna play…" - but doing that from the get go just because, nah. If you wanna play like that - play without me. If you wanna win like that - take your win and leave me alone.
d) Matches past a point of no return - which arguably happens more easily for surv than for killer (an endgame killer build can actuallly turn the match around completely even after all gens have been completed while the same does not hold true for surv). But it can happen both ways so yes, I do think there ought to be a "concede" option; there's no point in playing out a match that has been decided for the sake of playing out the match. Yes, the winning side gets to power trip - but it's at the explicit expense of the losing side; that's plain unhealthy. It fosters both a toxic winner's attitude as well as a bitter, resentful loser's attitude - which, guess what, results in more toxicity.
e) Lack of agency and/or removal of standard gameplay elements; this usually goes hand in hand with a killer refusing to hook or camping/tunneling or chosing another obnoxious playstyle - quite a few killers have their own brand of that. If you're in a match and you look at how much of an impact the actions you can take can have on the match and realise the impact is marginal there's literally no point in taking any action. (Think cages and Triangle guy, Pinhead box-logic, pig camping jigsaw boxes, unavoidable guaranteed-hit-situations, blocking e.g. basement stairs, Nemo tentacle-logic etc. pp.) This is more pronounced in Chaos shuffle where you can't pick perks to expand the actions you can take/make the actions you can take have a bigger impact but it is an issue in regular Q as well.
There are probably more points that contribute to people rather not staying in a match but those were the ones that ticked me off the most.
One that actuallly didn't make the list is the "certain killers" one. Cause, when it comes down to it, it's not necessarily the killer's basekit but certain playstyles usually resulting in one of the above.I won't be going back to SoloQ. Heck, if I don't get dragged to vc and get spammed with invites I won't even go back to DBD at all. — Though, if those points were addressed I would at least give it a try and see if it makes a difference.
exactly hell right now I am playing my chaos shuffle event missions and I am going back to project zomboid. That is more fun in any case than being spammed by 100 obnoxious playstyles or perks or killers

The problem is there is no universally liked killer, even the most popular killers have people who hate playing against them. Whether you find a killer fun to go against or not is entirely subjective.
For example with your examples here:
- I'm not a big fan of Trickster, because often all I can do it try to break line of sight and stall as much as possible, but if I'm at an appropriate tile where I can time his knives and mind game him, he's fun to face.
- I find Singilarity engaging to go against, hes quite fun, but he has a few nasty strategies that are hard to overcome, but often if he's trying one of these strategies its a war of attrition, which can be annoying but also fun to try and time with your allies attempts to overwhlem him.
- Xenomorph I find a lot of fun. Using turrets is similar to setting Trapper traps, being plain and obvious isn't so good, utilising quirky and strange unexpected turret locations is very stimulating and fun. Baiting and juking the tail is fun. In fact I'd argue that Xeno is underpowered, because they are punished so hard on a miss,I don't just make it to a tile, I can usually run to the next one after it as well.
Thing is my opinion or your opinion of these killers doesn't really matter... if you're saying it's OK to quit against killers you don't like, you're basically saying it's OK to just DC period.
If everyone quit against killers they dont like, you'd get a DC in about 80% or more of your games (and that's a conservative estimate, remember there are 4 players who may not like the killer). Even the most popular killers your are still looking at 50% chance somebody doesn't like them..
Now imagine your favourite killers to face... would you like it if 50% of the time someone quit against them and left you with a bot or a player down? Hopefully you're now seeing the problem.
Sadly it is not subjective. Nobody can find a killer that is just spamming fun. You can't tell me you find it fun to be spammed until you die. IF SOMEONE REALLY IS HAVING FUN BEING SPAMMED YOU SURE MUST BE MASOCHIST. Nothing you are saying in this comment is actually logical Trickster is not fun no matter what his power is spam and nothing else even if he does not hit you so what the same goes for you you cant shot any skill either by not letting him spam you holding W forward is nothing at all. Singularity can be fun but right now he is camera spammer and to stop him from slipstreaming every 5 seconds you need 100 emps because he can spam a camera in every loop then slip stream you and teleport to you until you either run out of pallets toss down that is if he does not swing through them and hit you anyways. Then there is xenomorph whose only counter is putting stupid turrets that do ######### all because he can break them and it slows him down for 3 seconds maximum while being able to hit you through any pallet or window or force a hit anyways. Tell me how any of these killers are fun huh? I told you all of their problems. They got no skill they are just spam.

SBMM is a worthwhile additon to the game, but it's one problem is it's far too simple.
- For Killer it at least requires you to be competant to 4k, but it does encourage strategies that require you to kill at any cost, rather than make a game of it (and feed fear to the entity), and often it's more a measure of how sweaty you play rather than how skilful you play.
- For Survivor however often it is way off base, cause there are so many factors that make up whether you can escape or not, and a lot of them are not at all reflective of your actual skill at DBD. Often it's more a measure of how cowardly you play, instead of how skilful you play.
That said, since kills/escapes are the defining goals of the game, it still makes sense to have them as part of your MMR calculation… but it shouldn't be the only factor...
This problem is already solved!
You have the emblem system, that reward players for their contributions/performance in the match. You often can't get good emblem scores if you're playing a sweaty or lame strategy, nor if your playimg like a coward.
Why not feature emblems as part of SSBM?
After calculating the MMR diff to be rewarded for this game instead of making kills/escapes 100% of the MMR calculation, instead make the following weightings: -
Killer:
- Kills contribute up to 36% of this score.
- 0%, 9%, 18%, 27%, 36% for 0-4k respectively.
- The remaining 64% is made up of emblem scores. Each emblem is worth 16% at maximum.
- 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16% for nothing, bronze, silver, gold, iri respectively.
Survivor:
- Self escape contributes up to 36% of this score.
- If queued with friends, their escapes count for a third of your overall score. Your own escape is worth 24%, and your allies are 12% divided equally between them. (12%, 6%, 4% for 1-3 friends respectively)
- The remaining 64% is made up of emblem scores. Each emblem is worth 16% at maximum.
- 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, 16% for nothing, bronze, silver, gold, iri respectively.
This brings what you actually DO in the trial into the calculation. Escaping/Killing features prominently in your score, but if you actually want to climb, satisfying the terms of the Entities trial would be a factor for your MMR.
Few problems with this...
For killer it would mean sweaty strategies that don't score well but get a 4k don't really climb... which of course means that lower tier players bear the brunt of trolling and obnoxious playstyles...
This therefore.might be an incentive to added MMR as a visible entity to the game... as a carrot/indicator of not really satisfying the terms of the Entities trial, so is not really a "win" as far as the Entity is concerned.
There is also a need to clean up some killer power scores events... characters like Pig famously have trouble with Devious points cause there aren't many instances they can use their power effectively.
However would a system still give more benefits than detriments?
Such a good idea for a better sbmm system. Sadly behaviour don't give a ######### and preffer continous creation of worthless cosmetics and buggy chapters instead of gameplay imrpovements so I really wish this idea was implemented but they don't like doing a good job so far so

"Going next" against these killers is an insane take, all 3 of these killers are below the average in terms of kill rate.
yet they all have one thing in common. Spam your power until you down the survivor while not needing any skill whatsoever. Do you think this is fun to deal with. Every health state taken by these killers is just them spamming their power until they hit me without thinking.
-
thanks I will probably buy her one day with the iri shards. At least you did not decide to say decisive strike that ######### perk is just paid and you cant get it easily. Okay if dead hard is chase perk I guess I should wonder why not all survivors use it

eh tbh if the player dislikes the killer a lot I cant blame them. I would always just give up against trickster, singularity and xenomorph because they have no counterability anyways so why even play with them. I completely agree when someone refuses to participate with a broken killer. But yeah some just give up for no reason sometimes which is not really good at all

I get it, new chapters are cool and fun, brings in a lot of money for the game as well, but I'd rather have more balance changes and bug fixes for the existing content and do with 1 or 2 less DLC's a year. There are so many bugs in this game and many maps, perks, items and offerings are just outdated. If BHVR can reorganise their spaghetti code a bit they probably save a lot more resources putting bandaid fixes in the future imo.
Shhh if you call them out they will probably ban you for calling out their bs logic of releasing bugged chapters and meanwhile letting bugs rampage the game. INDEED agreed they should just make one chapter that is just bug fixes and code stability instead of a damn killer

I would disagree for billy because his power comes from the combination of mobility and instadown, so having the ability to deny half the combo is quite effective against him, although it will do little to stop him from pressuring the whole map. Demo is an absolute demon at baiting but, like others, can do little when faced with a DH to pallet.
Now the biggest problem is there is no actual free perks to use that counter tunneling. They literally made dead hard be anti tunnel perk because you get it after being unhooked. And we also have to make it a gamble as well now so you get 2 shots maximum with it. Meanwhile when you use it you gamble if you will even have the killer hit or he just misses and he gets you 5 seconds later. Dead hard is barely used now because it is literally predictable once you use it. SO YOU GOT ONE PERK THAT IS USED ONCE EFFECTIVELY IF THE KILLER DOES HIT YOU if you put so many ######### requirements on one perk LITERALLY no one would use it over something else.

@Lentara said:
I'll start with a little preface. Everyone will agree that playing solo as a survivor is something in the language of eternal suffering. If anyone needs an explanation of why this is so, here are a few:
- SWEATY KILLERS;
- most people really don't understand what they're doing and why;
- few people understand that instead of cleansing totems, which will not lead to victory, they have to repair the damn generators;
- an incredible amount of trolls who are deliberately ruining the game;
- people are afraid to save other survivors from the hook because the sweaty killer immediately returns to the hook and there are 2 options: either he tunnels the one who was on the hook, or punishes the one who saved the person from the hook;
- if you are a solo survivor who is trying to play the game as it was intended, not hiding in lockers and not sitting in bushes but making generators and saving people from hooks, you will be the first who die most of the time;
- your chances of escaping are very low, 9/10 games you will be killed, while playing as a killer 9/10 games you will get your sweaty 4K (lovely balance).
The idea of a Solo Q mode
The normal game mode means that the survivor can freely invite friends and accordingly there is a huge difference in balance between a solo game and a game with a coordinated group of people. The solution is simple - just add a solo mode in which you cannot invite anyone and to register for a match you must be solo. Also considering the fact that such a game will be with completely random uncoordinated people, this mod will need some changes:
1. "Self care" needs buff, so that the player has the opportunity to take care of themselves, because not all survivors want to heal you, and the current speed and efficiency of this ability takes too much time.
2. The audio and visual feedback for the Killer when a Survivor is unhooked should be removed. It's like a red rag to a bull for the Killer, they immediately run to the unhooking location and pressure players. The Killer will still be able to track the unhooking using the game UI, but at least returning to the unhooking location will be a less obvious call to action. This will give the survivors at least some air.
3. No damn mori offering. I still think mori is OP and the fact that some stupid offering can change the gameplay so much is complete bs, but that's a topic for a separate thread. Let's be honest, random people are unlikely to save you from death, it happens incredibly rarely. But at least it should be possible, and as we know, just the presence of mori deprives survivors of the ability to make a save using a flashlight (lightborne is also OP), body blocking or sabotage. This requires coordination, so mori in this situation is just another advantage for killers.
And ofc mori for the last survivor should'nt exist.There are many reasons for this and it is better to talk about it in a separate thread.
4. This is obvious, but for some reason it's still not implemented in the game - a hint during loading something like "Reparing generators is the best way to escape". Yeah, not everyone knows that. I don't understand what people expect who don't do gens and instead just walk around the map, open chests and clean totems.
Why is this important?
When playing as a killer, you really do face a big difference when playing against a random group of survivors or a coordinated discord group. If you're like me, not a sweaty but fair killer, you'll likely get cooked and face toxicity and bullying. For a solo survivor, the experience is even worse because you are completely alone, your group can completely ignore you and on top of all this, you get the sweatiest killer who thinks he is playing in a world tournament. So the solo mode will improve the gaming experience not only for survivors, but also for killers. And leave the normal mode for the self-proclaimed cyber-sportsman on both sides, let the sweaty ones fight the same sweaty ones like themselves. And in case the sweaty killer wants to punish random people in solo mode, some balance changes are needed for that.Man I wish we could have such a mode. As a killer I really have no desire to play with survivor friends. If I know someone is with a friend I might as well just DC it is not fair whatsoever and same goes for the survivors they should be suffering because stupid survivor friends who abuse the power of super coordination force killer buffs and the killers to become toxic IT SUCKS A LOT . I literally just had a game as hag and these two survivors were friends and at endgame chat I accused them and they kept denying they are not friends. Like bruh they also kept commenting how its not p2win to have a perk that you have to buy or pray to the stupid shrine that it shows up. Like bruh survivor friends sure suck a lot. At least they can admit I am right. I was right that these guys were survivor friends. They won just because they had half the team coordinated? And they say its not cheating. It is literally cheating to know half the game or most of the game?
-
You know that is why I dont play survivor almost ever. It has become such a ######### sweat fest I gotta think 200 times per second to counter a killer. If I could play with killer bots I would have so much more fun honestly WHEN WILL THE KILLER BOTS COME I preffer them than another slugging tunneling piece of ######### killer

@Reinami said:
Generally, tons of loops are far safer than they would normally be due to "check spots" These spots basically allow a survivor to stand still and respond to whatever option or direction the killer is going. Check spots are generally only used by higher level survivors who are aware of them and are able to exploit them. Against average survivors, they generally don't use check spots.
If check spots weren't a thing, many loops like killer shack would become less safe for high level survivors because they would actually be subject to being mindgamed. As it stands now, good survivors can effectively make it impossible to catch them at certain structures like killer shack unless you brute force the window and pallet, and by the time that happens, you probably have lost 3 gens from the rest of the team.
Check spots not existing would do wonders for balancing the game at higher levels without actually impacting lower skill "average" games because survivors at that level typically aren't using them to begin with. It also promotes more skill-based gameplay where each loop is a proper 1v1 mindgame between the survivor and the killer, where the better player winds due to how well the killer can mindgame and trick the survivor, vs the survivor able to respond to the killer and make proper choices based on what the killer has done historically. Similar to fighting games for example, if i know my opponent in Street Fighter ALWAYS goes for a reversal on wakeup, i can instead block it, and get another full combo, then maybe the next time they do it, they instead wake up with a throw and reverse the offense back to me. This is the kind of mindgame "loop" i think would be much more fun for both sides at higher levels of play.
To be clear, when i say "check spot" i don't mean spots where a survivor can watch one end of a loop or the other, i'm specifically talking about spots where you are able to see every option a killer does, and then select the best option for you as a survivor every single time if you simply just wait for a fraction of a second. Many of these at killer shack for example, are because there are holes in the shack that show the stain through the wall, or you can just physically see the killer through the holes.
yeah sure BECAUSE WHEN I PLAY SURVIVOR I LOVE GETTING KILLED INSTANTLY cause I get matched with 5000 hour killers that are not my skill level because the skill matchmaking system was not made to actually account for skill but instead to que you up as fast as possible because ######### fair matches. Lets make IT EVEN MORE UNFAIR GOOD IDEA.

I don't mind killers getting QoL, but I still feel our focus should be on the base game (stopping gen momentum/tunneling/Slugging). coz as it stands rn it's going more and more to victim gameplay with little to no interactivity.

Trickster is not the killer with the least counter plays. Plus I don't know what is the matter with the spammy stuff.
Singularity spams, Huntress spams Hatchets, Sadako spams… That's just the nature of the projectile based or teleport killers.
The only suggestion I see for Trickster is to reduce massively his fire rate and the blade requirement to injure survivors.
Huntress cant really spam you can dodge her and gain distance that is how it works. Honestly they made her like this with that dumb update to give her even more hatchets as if 5 is not enough for one chase. Yeah sadako indeed can spam it. I already said singularity is another killer that can spam the ######### out of his power without consequence which is unfair in my book since you can use one emp and then pray. I dont know what can be done about sadako but at least singularity can have an emp being used 2 times since he can instantly palce new camera to slipstream you.

I think you do the common mistake by mixing "easy to play" and "hard to play against".
And in that regard, maybe you are personally not comfortable to play against this killer.
I already said that the problem was they made a killer with no actual counter other than hoping you can outrun him on a loop while he now has 4.6 m speed. The problem is he is just a spammer and nothing more. Do you see many killers who got the ability to spam till they down someone? The doctor's power has enough limitations to not be broken. You can hide in a locker to avoid his blast. His shocking has a delay when he lets it out so you got a chance to dodge if he has the idea to block you somewhere. He is an m1 killer too not like trickster who got knives to shoot you with and his built in slowdown is skill checks being a bit more difficult. And if he wants to make the skillchecks difficult even more he has to sarcifice a lot of perk slots. But yeah he can be annoying but he is overall balanced. His power is in check thankfully

You still have to hit them 8 times, if there isn't a bunch of crap in the way, not to mention teammates taking hits, not to mention he throws a lot slower than he use to. Seriously.
Also thanks for reminding me he had a secondary power that lets him spam knives infinitely and throwing them faster. Which makes hook camping overpowered for him if someone tries to save he will get his infinite knives and he gets to down 2 people very cool stuff

just because you don't enjoying playing vs the character does not mean he does not take skill. Like i said, vast majority of players do badly when playing him. only really the top 1% that often main character have any success with him and even they claim that trickster isn't that good and needs some QOL minor improvements. Chances are, your not playing vs top 1% trickster players and that your losses are survivor skill issue.
Okay my dude since I am so wrong I guess I won't play against him at all. Everyone else can enjoy playing against the unbalanced killers in my book and they are at this point literally just Trickster, Singularity and that is kind of it GUESS WHAT THEY GOT IN COMMON they both spam their power until they get a hit how fun is taht.Nurse is not counted cause she was made to be powerful.
