Each to their own really. I'm just not fussed by my numbers anymore, or my monthly rank. I just want to enjoy the game, and I like helping other players enjoy the game a bit more. When I let a surv go we both know I'd beat them so I still get a challenge and the feel of winning. I just sacrifice like 1-2k bp so the surv can get 7k plus and a survival 😊
I like stats.

Yh for sure. There are killers that definitely needed rebalancing much more than demo. I honestly don't know why they are messing with him, sonce he isn't even buyable anymore. I'm just going to be optimistic and take it as a sign that maybe stranger things is going to make a return 🤞
That is very optimistic take indeed. I would like it very much I didn't buy nancy back then I just started playing seriously in september 2021 so I though she was no more than skin and my friend advice not to buy her for perks which become free... But she is in fact very funny sounding skin. I do really like some of her cosmetics but back then I didn't even have any cosmetics. Well my friends at least don't have any of them even they started playing in late 2020s.

Yh i kind of did it in reverse, used to sweat out the 4k when I started the game, but I'd say maybe 3 months in I mellowed a bit. After I got iri 1 for both roles i figured well I've done that now so stopped worrying about emblems and just play to enjoy now. And if I can help survs enjoy it a little more then why not let some go? I generally try to be nice to newer or low skill players. And mirror the energy I get, if survs are clearly a sweating swf ill play hardball, if they are a toxic bully squad I'll give them a few nods as they ascend after I counterplay their torches, if survs are chill or low skill I dial it back a notch and play around a bit to eke out the bp for everyone and be more chill.
I noticed that I get less kills than before so I decided to change that now. I play less too nowadays but still it's been while I reached good kill total number.

It's far from being common.. At least in my own experiences, but I don't mind that at all. In fact, I'm somewhat grateful for them ending it ASAP, you know?
I don't like being given the free escape. We're a team, even in solo queue. I don't care if I have done the most work and played the best; The fact that the rest of my team got sacrificed and I was the last one alive is all I need to know. I don't deserve the free escape. If my team falls, I'm supposed to fall aswell, no excuses.
While playing as a killer, I do tend to give them those free escapes if I see them playing well enough or not using any items; Yup, the moment you're using items just like everybody else, you're no longer gonna receive my royal treatment even if you've managed to loop me the entire match. Thing is, most players don't deserve them, they truly do not.
I feel especially bad if I wanna give them the Hatch or escape, but fail to locate the Hatch! At that point, all I'm doing is wasting our time, and I'm pretty sure that time is more valuable than being given some free escape.. Which, if I fail to locate at the time limit that I set for myself to find the Hatch, I simply hook them and apologize afterwards for wasting their time.
But, yeah. It is very uncommon. It has used to be a lot common back in the day, but ever since the playerbase widened and a new era of competitive players entered the community, we're no longer having people giving them to each other.
Why using item is big thing to you? But i kill good players because they annoy me most likely but if their team really was bad I might let them go.

Hehe yh i love playing iri demo in customs and hearing people when I jumpscare them 🤣
I'm a little disappointed at the nerf, but it was a little too strong. It'll still be pretty good, just gotta place portals towards the outside to get a better view while portalling.
If blight can go without any nerf there is no any reason to nerf demo that add on makes him A tier killer for me so it's not too strong.
-
@HoodedWildKard said:
As a demo main the iri combo is kinda cracked. On it's own it's fine but combine it with the other iri add on and it's nuts.
Like it's my lazy option when I just want to dominate a game with relative ease. Kinda weird to focus on tweaking demo (which is not available to get anymore) when there are other more relevant killers way more in need of balancing.
I have caused some survivors probably heart attack with them... I think they're fun and balanced. Iri add ons are supposed to be good too.

I give hatch/door to last surv mst of the time unless I have an achievement/ challenge that requires a 4k. Or if they aggravated me particularly.
Tbh a lot of the time I let 2 survs finish gens and go while I farm out extra bp spamming my power or breaking doors.
It happens to me rarely when i play surv but I do get the odd killer that lets me go or farms the last 2, so they are out there. But like 95% of killers just sweat the 4k, even when I offer them a present 🥲
Yeah I give hatch or gate way more than I get it myself partly because of that. I used to not like be that sweaty killer slugging desberately for 4K but instead being friendly one. Most survivors do get very happy when killer let's them escape. Recently though I have not given hatch for a while because im sweating to reach bigger kill total but I still don't slug. Maybe I farm few games at some point though with last 2.

@Beatricks said:
Absolutely not. I play survivor every single day but in this year I was only once given the door, and the last time someone dropped me on hatch was back in either 2022 or 2021. Funnily enough this latest person was a basement Bubba of all people, I genuinely don't know why he did that after massacring the entire rest of the team.
I also often encounter survivors that don't understand when I'm letting them go. Did run into one this week that bribed me with their item. It's been so long I decided to let them go.
Might been me as bubba was you yui? If it was me I just like to give door to last one especially if I feel I was too merciless.

Well the bar for "needing to tunnel to win" (realistically) is also influenced by killer choice and the killers own skill level as well. A Clown or trapper will need to do it a lot more than an Artist or Huntress.
90% might be a bit high but I agree that more than not are casual players.
Both are valid imo. If you want to take your (tbf good) chances on the survivor skill level you can, but if you want to play efficiently in case they're better than most I can't say that's wrong either. Against casuals the efficient route will also win as well. So in that regard I believe it covers more bases.
It's the weird middle ground where you have some causals and some strong players in your game where it varies and get situational.
I think it really just depends on your viewpoint and if you're playing for the best case scenario or the worst one.
With weak killers it bit debends if needing to tunnel as you might face weaker survivors. I played games with trapper other day and got some very potato survivors they ended up all dead at 4 gens. So I think it debends how much you play these weaker killers if you need to.
Mmr range has big effect on matches I assume you're probably in top mmr so there is more likely competive survivors even with weaker killers. I think I reached that mmr now too because I do play effiently and use my opportunies to get kills. I probably tunnel in half of my games in some form.
I get my first kill usually around 5 hooks. Im probably gonna decrease my mmr now to get easier matches to be honest games has become bit too much sweating. Im on console too so I do have mechanical disadvantage compared to pc. Or maybe I just play basement bubba for a while.
Otz did while back video winning 80% of games without tunneling he had rule he could not hook same survivor twice a row if I remember right. I would want to see him make video where he just tunnel that he has to hook same survivor again and again what would be the winrate then for comparision?
He ofcourse is very good killer so average killer doing same would not have as good result but he could show what is most efficient strat. I do think honestly best is to some kind of hybrid and use every opportunity you have. Knowing when to camp/slug/tunnel and which chases to commit or drop.

I think you might actually confuse it with oni aura reading add on which is not weak or strong in my opinion. But demos iri is 100 times better.

Well in my opinion it's best and favourite. Other his add ons are not much use for me than the cooldown ones and maybe the purple for devour build. But aura reading is very powerful.

@Dustin said:
I feel like the changes intention is they want things to be centralized around a killers power and even if Demogorgon is not problematic this addon checked enough boxes on things they intend to normalize among all killers with a specific set of rules. I cannot recall which dev said it but it was mentioned that other addons are also problematic but this one was easier to change regarding coding. They likely have a list of problematic ones or addons that do not follow new generalized rules they plan to keep addons inline with and this one just checked enough boxes.
Not saying it's a good change but I'm trying to rationalize why. That being said I don't think it's going to kill the killer - At least other addons were buffed and personally I'll take more accessible common / uncommon addons getting buffed that I'll use every game over an iri.
This add on made demo A tier so it's big nerf and I can use it about every 1/3 of games I play on demo so huge thing for me it's also my favourite add on in the game 😭. They should buff demo basekit to compensate at least and he is quite clunky on console so before they netf him they should buffed him.

I mean, finding the weakest link to then tunnel them is still tunneling. So tunneling is still the best option. Additionally if there is no weak link, then you put yourself in a worse position than if you just tunneled the first guy. In either case tunneling is still the best option.
What do you do if every survivor runs to the main building or shack? Chase no one? Again you'd just put yourself in a worse position than if you just committed.
Yes you can try to avoid it for a weaker player, and that's a gamble you can take. But at the end of the day, not tunneling is only better if one of the survivors is bad and you find them early enough. At that point its not the strategy that's better, it's your opponent who is worse.
Anything can work against bad/worse players.
Its one of the big reasons SWF is such an outlier, they can filter out bad players and make it so there is no weak link.
Imo we should be talking about the game in a state where all the plyers are good at the game, not when there's a skill imposter you have to find.
Again, not saying it cant win to not tunnel, that's how I play and I still win games. But "it can win" and "it's your best shot" are 2 different things.
I define tunneling focusing only on one survivor until they're death chasing and hooking them again and again. Well if you do hook one survivor and go after weak link and hook them and go after them well yes it's tunneling. But what I do is still usually go after someone else and if it does not work out then I come back for weak link so then it's not tunneling.
I just did that in my last match. Hooked kate then jake and went after laurie didn't work out so I went after jake again and hooked then went for laurie and hooked them and after that I found jake and took him out. So there was no tunneling. But I did got blamed for tunneling by jake and appearently I should quit as I don't have the level... Can't imagine what the chat it's on pc and when you actually tunnel.
Majority of the survivors are not in the skill level you need to tunnel to win. There are lot of soloQ players it's not like 4 man swf are that common. Well we could just say 90% dbd players are bad/worse well better word would be casual. If everyone would be good then 2K would be usually maximium result for killer even tunneling is not enough agains't good survivors even if you play nurse and blight.
But most luckily are not that level usually not even that 4 man swf you face. So there is usually enough time to win if you play effieciently. There are definetely many games I have lost because I have had tunnel vision on one survivor like I said before don't tunnel strongest link that's why it's smart to take at least ond more chase maybe not everyone is that good. Well I do usually squeeze 2K from those games but I did want to win.
When survivors just rush gens I go straight away for tunneling whoever got hooked first before I tried to force second stage with camping as well now you can't do it. I just try to secure kill I can. Those games usually are unwinnable and it's only way to get something out of them.
Still sometimes im able to win and sometimes I win by actually stopping the tunneling as others come to protect I have slugged them all. So even there are still other playstyles to win. But like I said I actually jisy aim to get that one kill and tunneling is great for that and opens possibility for 2K.

Even if there is lot of not nice talk I would like to see it at least. So I agree.

My friend, as a killer I still see medkits more than any other item. By a wide margin.
After the medkit nerfs I do see a lot more flashlights than previously, but that's also because flashies have been buffed. In my (admittedly anecdotal) experience, medkits are still by far the most popular item.
Flaslight and toolboxes are more comming now and only grey med kits is used. Anything more rarer is not worth to use. Like even small change like adding 8 more charges to yellow and purple and making green and purple having 5% more healing speed would make med kit have some differences and maybe make the worth to use sometimes.

Honestly, I think your problem is more about playing solo-Q than about survivor in general.
Speaking as a killer main, there's a vast difference between playing against coordinated SWFs and solo players. I've been playing since 2017, and medkits have ALWAYS been the strongest item in the game.
The nerfs were necessary. Medkits are still very strong, but now you can't get 4 heals plus a syringe out of them. There are other good ways to heal. If you're a solo player, I strongly suggest the perk Bond to find people to heal you. You can thank me later.
Med kits were overnerfed. They barely used anymore no need to make items completely useless. There should be difference between grey and purple med kits.

@I_CAME said:
I don't get why they can't work on a middle ground solution to this. That would be more fair than either extreme.
Yeah because old ones were bs. I even as killer usually get many hits that looked like they missed. Now I get them just less often. But the new vaulting is bit too good on male survivors.
But at least one change they should do is to show ping in lobby so survivors can dodge killers with bad ping if they don't want to get hit miles behind.
-
I think healing was nerfed too much. There should at least be difference between purple and grey med kits...

Well I disregard pippign since that's not the actual win condition.
Strictly in terms of killing as many survivors as possible, getting someone out the game ASAP is always the best play. There is no reason to let anyone live longer than they need to as that will be overall detrimental in all cases.
Camping I agree pretty much is only as prevalent as it is because survivors empower it. So in certain groups it's not a good idea. But against most groups it works well enough.
Tunneling however, even if its focusing on 2 survivors back to back or focusing on the weakest link, is always the best decision you can make.
Of course it's not a guarantee, nothing is. Even doing the best tactic available you can lose for a variety of factors. Many out of your control (like the survivors skill level). Just because it doesn't have an 100% winrate doesn't mean its not the best option available.
i.e. Every survivor in the lobby is good and you're on Garden of Joy as Legion? Even using your best available tactic, you can easily lose just due to the map, not even factoring in things like unlucky RNG ect.
Just because the survivors are good doesn't change what the best option for the killer would be. Getting someone out ASAP. The alternative is just letting an additional good player stick around even longer.
If you tunnel right away you might actually tunnel the strongest link that's why it's better to chase others and identifyi the weak link. Sometimes there is not even obvious weak link so then focusing on two might be better. Tunneling on paper might be best for getting someone out but not always in practise.
If the tunneled one runs to let's say garden of joy main building or shack is it worth to chase? But the unhooker runs to deadzone. On blight/nurse tunneling is best option for that as then RNG and survivor skill won't matter as much.
Anyway when I see that -1 it does not feel like a win. Though I don't watch it anymore. But if you want to red grade spreading hooks is best option and tunnel only when you can do it quickly but maybe not at beginning as other survivors might just dc or suicide so then it backfires. But I think pipping needs rework.
Camping still works for few killers like huntress and bubba but for others they just have to watch when survivor is unhooked last second. If you get first down quickly you're quaranteed 2K on bubba and if they make mistake then 3K is possible.

@Pulsar said:

Following that logic, then the DC penalty should be reduced or removed entirely in order to "encourage" players to DC instead of suiciding.
@topic, you can't force people to play a game they aren't enjoying. I empathize with the plight, but it's a simple fact of life that people aren't gonna keep playing the game when it's miserable for them. You can punish them via DC penalties and you could even make hook suicides permanently bannable like I've heard people want; people will still AFK, they'll still sandbag, they'll still give up, they'll still not try to win. It doesn't matter what you punish. All you can do is work around that fact instead of trying to change it.
Survivors should only have one kobe chance so then hook suicides would be way smaller problem. Can't ban people from that some might just want to try 4% and sometimes it's only hope when everyone is down. But if it's only 1 chance it could be increased to 6% chance. No more than that as agains't me 4% is 50/50 chance.

Well, like I said they're optional. Regardless of the reason why genrush is genrush.
If you're doing it because you don't feel like doing totems and chest, ok that's understandable, but you're still doing it.
If the killer is tunneling or camping genrush them then, it's the right play. Like I said it's not bad the same way tunneling is not bad. Trying to win isn't "evil".
You can be "nice" and not tunnel/camp/rush, but its actively harmful if you actually care about winning.
There are other efficient tactics than just tunneling and camping. They're not always optional more like win or lose badly tactics they do not quarantee anything. Decent survivors know to do gens while killer camps and even usually run reassurance. Tunneling you just need to do very fast. When the survivor loops you 5 gens at the end you usually think I should tunneled harder. But it probably was not right play.
They're high risk and high reward tactics. But what separates them is they're most simple. Best tactics is not limit yourself but do what seems best play usually at beginning of match it's smarter to go some chases target 2 survivors. When either of them reach second hook then tunneling is good option and lot less risky if the survivor is in bad spot and lot less pallets left usually.
Still is also best tactics for pipping. Camping and tunneling can result depip even while 4K:ing. But I do think pipping should reworked kills should matter more and depipping standards lowered at least. 4K should be automatic pip.
-
I don't know about punishing killer when it's only 2 survivors remaining. It could be just that one survivor has hide whole game so killer wants to kill him because he throwed the game for survivors and don't deserve to escape. And if the other survivor shows where hider is I think killer should not be punished. But teaming when there is more survivors alive should be punished.
-
Usually gens are done faster during events as survivors focus more on them and want their bonus bp. Though my matches has gone pretty great recently and I've been enjoying killer more. I won even one match with myers 4 gens remaining.
-
I think it's because dbd is 1vs4 it's just too great advantage and you're just alone and have to work for 4 times more for the win. I hope they do killer next which is playable by 2 people, making the game 2vs4. That kind of killer should be S tier if played by friends with coordination. Twins could already been that killer other would play victor and other charlotte.
-
@HoodedWildKard said:
It varies.
Hard tunneling the first player you down when you realise that they can't run chase? Pretty unfun scummy move. But it guarantees an easy game. Ruins the game for that player.
Midgame, you are 2/3gens down and have the choice of pursuing the unhooked surv with 2 hooks states who is 8 secs away from an easy 1 hit down and kill, or the uninjured surv with 1 hook state. You need that pressure to keep the balance on your side. I know what my choice would be and I've done it many times. That kind of tunneling is just smart play, plus the surv has had time to actually play and achieve something.
But in my experience surv players usually cry foul when they get tunneled at any point. I once tunneled a vittorio with 1 gen left, one dead player, 2 double hooked hadn't seen her all game. I tunneled them for 3 full hooks states late game because i wanted to let the other 2 go.
That vittorio was PISSED. 🤣 got a lot of hatemail for that one. They even got a friend of theirs to message me saying I'd been reported to bhvr with video evidence 😂
Yeah I think tunneling right at the start of the game should be punished more. Sometimes it is when killer chooses to tunnel wrong survivor but it should not be easiest stragedy to win. But sometimes killer has to tunnel first survivor when gens fly so game can't just force killer to hook others. Some basekit mechanic to slow down tunneling could be fine if gens speed also get slowed down or survivors get another objective.

The way I explain it is we all go in and out of potato. I can, in one instance have a great chase and the killer gives up to pressure elsewhere, then get caught completely lacking, run into a wall, just die.
Players never hold onto greatness consistently. In. Out.
But earnestly, I feel I came to grips with this game around 1,000 hours in. I’m at 6,500 today and that does not include my time on Playstation.
This.
-
3,4K hours and have not mastered either side. I still go sometimes down quickly and sometimes loop killer whole game. To master survivor I think you need competive mindset and memorize every map and pathing. Don't use windows of opportunity it just holds you back actually learning the loops and getting good.

There are bullies on both sides so both killer and survivor opinions are valid for that matter.

Lol we don't make up our own definitions of words. That's not how life works.
"The devs I think have stated they try to balance between 4 man swf and soloQ."
They have not said this.
In order to have a rational conversation we have to operate in objective reality, not our own truths.
Let's say also playing on computer is cheating then you have unfair advantage over console players which is definetely as large than advantage 4 man swf gives on comms. Most killer tech can't be done or are very difficult to do on console. Nurse flicks, oni 180s etc. Aiming is more difficult. Survivor 360s can't be done like on pc as well.
For the other thing I did bit of digging and this what they actually said. I don't remember if there was another thread but they aren't either just balancing for the lowest skill level players.

"If it was cheating game would not have option to play with friends on party and it would never be released on xbox where you have built in comms on consoles."
Wrong. That is not a part of the definition of cheating. Whether they allow it or not or build it into the system is completely irrelevant for the definition of cheating. They may be how people tend to use the word cheating, but most people are using the word incorrectly.
"Game is balanced beating casual swf:s but only good 4 man is problem"
No, the game is not balanced around a casual 4 man swf. It's balanced around a bad solo queue group. Most people could debate on what kind of solo queue group the game is balanced around, but it's pretty unanimously agreed on that the game is not balanced around swf at all.
"but then soloQ wiuld suffer too much if game was balanced around that and it would suck all the fun away as well."
This would be a completely different conversation. I'm not referencing how the game should be balanced here, I'm simply clarifying the definition of cheating.
"Wrong. That is not a part of the definition of cheating. Whether they allow it or not or build it into the system is completely irrelevant for the definition of cheating. They may be how people tend to use the word cheating, but most people are using the word incorrectly."
I define cheating what is clearly agains't the rules usually players using hacks. Now dbd could have built in chat definetely and maybe they consider doing that at some point like they did the hud change.
"No, the game is not balanced around a casual 4 man swf. It's balanced around a bad solo queue group. Most people could debate on what kind of solo queue group the game is balanced around, but it's pretty unanimously agreed on that the game is not balanced around swf at all."
If you think balance is getting 4K every game then yes game is balanced around bad soloQ group. But if the game is balanced around casual swf then that means sometimes you lose and sometimes you win. The devs I think have stated they try to balance between 4 man swf and soloQ. So that means the game is most balanced for 2-3 man swf:s and even casual 4 man not every swf is super competive.
-
@Blueberry said:
Most people will not call it cheating because the devs allow it, however, whether they allow it or not has zero to do with what the actual definition of cheating is.
Cheating is defined as simply an unfair advantage.
So, is the game balanced around swf? The answer is no.
So if it is an advantage that the game is not balanced around, then it is in fact an unfair advantage.
IE, it would be considered cheating by definition. It's just "cheating" that you won't be banned or anything for since it's allowed.
I'm not arguing that we should do away with SWF or anything, just simply pointing out that by definition it would be considered cheating.
If it was cheating game would not have option to play with friends on party and it would never be released on xbox where you have built in comms on consoles. Game is balanced beating casual swf:s but only good 4 man is problem but then soloQ wiuld suffer too much if game was balanced around that and it would suck all the fun away as well. Too competive games are not fun. Dbd was more fun before when it was not as balanced as it is now.

I don't know any game where talking with friends is considered cheating neither is that on dbd.

Seems a bit extreme. We don't know what went on with ST being pulled from DBD, and based on their track record I'd be as soon to blame BHVR as someone else.
Im 100% sure it's netflix when they have ever done good choise? They cancel all good series meaning there is barely anything to watch. All good movies end up in other streaming services now as well.

You should never have to leave the hook, and its an easy 3 to 4k on bubba if they don't find your hex.
On bubba to get 3K by facecamping you need to down someone right at the start and use noed and get bit lucky as well, if the survivors are half decent. 2K is the most common result by that stragedy if the first chase last more than 10s. Unless the survivors try to do the save... I have managed 3K leaving the 2nd hook and going for gate. Survivors usually get surpriced and then I chase the last one out before he can do save. But this mean you have to leave the hook.

It's most efficient strategy that significantly increases the chance to win, simple as that.
Not always best debends on killer you play a lot. Most efficient playstyle is to adapt in situations recognicing what is right play whether is tunneling/camping/slugging. Tunneling creates scnerio where both sides will sweat and it's either lose or win. But for nurse or blight it's definetely best strat then loops or bodyblocking/health states won't matter that much.
But for perks I recomend noed even if tunneling fails and they get all gens done it should quarantee 2K and open possibility for 3-4K. It's very underrated perk now for securing kills. You just need to get some hooks in match and that one kill and it's turn things to your favour very often.

"You got sent to one of the worst maps in the game for your killer, by a 4 man with extremely strong items, with nearly nothing but S-tier perks, and had to sweat your balls off to snag a 3k with all gens complete, and only got this result because they were trash at the game. Why won't you keep playing weak killers?"
There was two P100:s so you did face one of the stronger survivor teams more like and won with weak killer even they sweated... Your proving completely opposite here that you can win good teams even with weak killer if you put the effort. So players should play more of them.

Since Janurary I've tracked 400 Killer games and have managed a 3.89 average Kill Rate.
Wasn't you on xbox? Like to share you sacrifise/escape stats?

Im on xbox here my stats.
Time played: 139d 20h
Bloody millionaire: 494 177 437
A feast for entity: 6507
Made it out alive: 2187
Medical expert: 4874
Good thing about xbox it's also tracks you friend stats and you can compare them. But one thing is unfortunate kills don't count as they're not sacrifises to entity... if I don't see the total increasing im dis-satisfied because I like stats as well. But I still do occasional mories used to do them more before though.

I cancelled nerflix and rated their own games 1 star that what everyone should do so they will not have choise to but bring them back.
-
Well you went down...

Survivors should get more bp in general too. Prove thyself used to be bandaid fix for that but now that it's gone bp earnings should be increased.

no she isn't, re5 is the most selling RE game ever, so a lot of people would know her. I understand why we got Leon over Carlos and Chris cause he's the most popular RE character and protagonist of both RE2 and RE4 remakes which are the most recent releases. But Rebecca and Ada in Wesker chapter? doesn't make sense, even if we count that Ada was close Wesker ally(doesnt even appear in RE5) and Rebecca KINDA faced Wesker in RE1(not really). It should've been Sheva to represent WESKER game, like we got Jill to represent NEMESIS game.
Exactly at least if not sheva then chris whose main nemesis wesker is.
