  • I don't think it's on. It's so refreshing to see the killer's attack from swing to follow through at air, but I still get hit somehow. Devs must've dropped it a percentage point so they could validate that they've adjusted it.

Really? The Spooky Myers build? I've never had any luck with him there. For me, it is way too open, and almost impossible to sneak up on anyone. I get looped to death there.

Yeah, it's super weird dude. I run Spine Chill and can usually see him coming and where he is going, but the others get snuck on and hooked, then things snowball from there. Perma Tier 3 Myers does the best though.

  • @Moundshroud said:

As a follow up, I want to tell you what Maps are actually GOOD for Spooky Myers. There are more of them than you might think. I'll put them in the order of my preference:

    1. Gideon (The Game)
    2. Hawkins
    3. Midwich
    4. Lerys
    5. Swamp Maps

Then there are the neutral maps.

    1. Japanese Maps
    2. About half the Corn maps.
    3. Haddonfield (Believe it or not Spooky Build does well here and can force a 3-Gen very easily).
    4. About 1/3 of the McMillian Maps

All the Rest are bad news.

For some reason, he seems to play well at Dead Dawg Saloon too

  • Tier 1 Michael Myers are the best trials! Like another poster has stated, I wish more killer mains used it. Spidey Sense (Spine Chill) is a good perk to use and I would pair with Sprint Burst to exploit his lack of speed.

  • I use Urban Evasion and Spidey Sense (Spine Chill) as my two main perks. The other two slots are between Inner Strength, Iron Will, an exhaustion perk (usually Lithe or Sprint Burst) and Head On/DS when I face sweaty killers. I get my share of saves, but am comfortable with doing gens silently and scooting away when Spidey Sense flickers constantly.

Right, i'm removing as many variables as possible, so we aren't counting looping, pallets, windows, perks, or killer powers. But i'm saying that when you factor those back in, the problem is just as bad, which is why only a handful of killers are viable at top level play.

The other thing you bring up about saying that the other 3 survivors aren't working on gens. This is a low level, solo queue problem. I'm talking about the ideal scenario, when both the survivor and killer play perfectly, that it is impossible for killer to win.

I gotcha and thanks for a rational reply, don't see too much of that with all the toxicity around here. If both survivor and killer were to play perfectly, I would say the edge goes slightly to the killer, 60/40, because of their abilities it gives them a slight advantage. If I'm understanding your point, if a killer is just a killer swinging their weapon, then they would have a harder time of it, but I don't think the game is meant to be played that way.

  • Tier 1 Michael Myers, 100%. It's like being in an actual horror movie.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/213312/how-is-this-game-survivor-sided-tell-me

Let me break down some math for you, i have posted this before so i'll just copy what i have because the point still stands:

The problem is that the game actually is survivor sided when you look at tournaments and top level play. If it wasn't, then nurse wouldn't be the only viable killer. The math itself doesn't add up and shows that under optimal conditions, a killer can't win. Let's look at what a perfectly efficient team does.

    Facts:

    • Gens take 80 seconds each.
    • Survivors move at 4.0 m/s
    • Killers (most) move at 4.6 m/s
    • Killers (most) have a 32 meter terror radius.
    • Killer lunge range is 6 meters (generally you wait until 4-5 meters for dead hard, and to not get spun etc.)
    • A survivor moves at 6.0 m/s for 2 seconds after getting hit.

    The scenario:

    • Match starts, every survivor splits up onto different gens.
    • Killer runs to opposite side of the map (where survivors likely spawn)
    • Crossing the maps takes 15-20 seconds depending on the map and killer.
    • Assuming you instantly find a survivor in that time (which can be rare) this takes about 15 seconds.
    • Lets pretend for a minute, the survivor doesn't use windows, or pallets, or anything, and they just hold w, as soon as they see the killer.
    • As soon as the killer terror radius at 32 meters, survivor looks around for the killer. Human reaction time can be around .25 seconds, but let's say you have to look around to find which direction the killer is coming from and it takes 3 seconds (which is very generous). The killer is now 32 - (4.6 x 3), or 18.2 meters away.
    • You now know where the killer is coming from, and hold w in the opposite direction.
    • Killer needs to get within 4.5 meters of you to lunge (accounting for lag, getting spun etc.). The killer gains .6 meters per second. Getting within 4.5 meters takes 22.8 seconds (i'll even round down for you)
    • It is now 15 + 22 = 37 seconds for the first hit (remember no pallets, or windows, or anything, just holding w).
    • Killer is able to gain 1 meter while cleaning their weapon for 3 seconds. The survivor uses their speed boost to move 16 meters, which means the killer is 15 meters away.
    • It takes the killer another 17.5 seconds to get within 4.5 meters to lunge. Again, i'll even round down for you.
    • This is now a down in 15 + 22 + 17 = 54 seconds.
    • It takes 3 seconds to walk up and pick up the survivor, and another 10-15 seconds to walk to a hook, and it takes 1.5 seconds to hook the survivor. This time is 3 + 10 + 1.5 = 14.5 seconds (again i'll even round down and say 14 seconds)
    • The first hook now took 15 + 22 + 17+ 14 = 68 seconds.
    • Gen times are 80 seconds.
    • During this time the other 3 survivors work on a generator, you now lose 3 generators
    • Rinse and repeat, but now you have 1 survivor on a gen, 1 survivor on hook, 1 in a chase and another rescuing and healing, so it is a bit slower, but you still lost 3 gens in that early game.

Keep in mind. This ignores pallets. It ignores perks. It ignores windows. It ignores looping. This is literally just holding w for as long as possible. If a team plays efficiently, and hits the gens hard like they should, a killer can never win. The only exception to this, is killers who can shorten that chase window, like nurse, spirit, huntress (arguable), deathslinger, etc. Because you can't hold w against them. Now when you factor in pallets, windows, looping, etc. This basically means nurse and spirit are really the only viable killers at top level play, because all it takes as a killer is for you to guess wrong ONCE in a chase, and you just lost 10-15 seconds either catching up to that survivor again, or abandoning the chase to find another one.

Now, you might say "well you should get the first hit, then go find another survivor on a gen". And you are right, this is generally optimal. But now imagine that scenario i mentioned, where you do that. It took you 15 + 22 seconds, to find the first survivor and hit them once. It takes a survivor 16 seconds to heal. Now all they do is heal, and start hitting a gen and the scenario repeats itself. Now you can maybe do this only once or twice depending on your medkit. But by the time your team runs out, you easily could complete multiple generators.

This is the problem with the game. When survivors play perfectly, a killer can't win. A killer has to win by survivors making mistakes. There isn't a way for a killer to truly win a game against an efficient team if they play perfectly.

Your scenario is only based on your theory. The reality is that in no way are the other 3 survivors working on a gen during that time. I'm a survivor main and I'll tell you that this never happened. There will most likely be 2 survivors working on a gen at the start.

Also, your killer data is inaccurate. See, there's this thing called Bloodlust and it makes the killer faster to catch its prey. It does not take a killer 17 seconds to cross from one side of the map to the other and your lunge time seems to be based on a normal killer attack, which killers rarely use and why should they when their lunge is very effective against the poor hitboxes of the survivors?

Bottom line is, while some killers are much stronger than others, they all can end a match in 4 minutes or less. Yes, survivors can end a match quickly, but in all the games that I've played, the ratio for fast killer victories to survivors is at least 3 to 1, so I disagree with your data.

  • @DaKnight said:

Because all the gens can be done in 4 minutes, unless the killer is able to create pressure.

In theory, but I would say that killers winning trials in 4 minutes is much more frequent than the survivors winning in 4 minutes.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Yeah, I don't know what it is but lately, I seem to get nothing but players who just hide.

I can loop like a God for once in my pathetic DBD life and kill two minutes of the killers precious time and see ZERO gens pop for all my effort. People hiding in lockers and not moving. People hiding in the corner when someone gets hooked. Just a bunch of players who thought this was a Hide & Go Seek game instead of DBD.

    I just don't get it...

I'm not RR1 anymore but I'm still a solid PR5, as are my teammates. These people shouldn't be as timid as a brand new YR20 kid in their first match!

That Irks me so much! I'm a terrible looper, but when I have my moment to have the killer focused on me for 2 minutes, I expect to see a gen be completed. I feel like time and effort was wasted and my chase was for nothing.

  • *new killer releases at midnight*

*board poster at 12:01 a.m.* "THIS KILLER NEEDS TO BE NERFED!!!!!"

    Give me a friggin break....

  • I don't DC, but I find it very laughable how people get mad about it and say it ruins the experience for the other players. You all make it sound like if you fire up Dead By Daylight, you can only play one trial and the game locks you out until next week. Chill out! If someone DCs, guess what? You can play in another trial after that one ends! I know that sounds mind blowing to you guys, but it's not the end of the world if someone DCs, relax and move on to the next game.

You shoudl consider the possibility of that being a "YOU problem." :)

I think I was just making a post and not complaining, some killers just have our number, but thanks for trying to start something :)

  • I run Spidey Sense (Spine Chill), Inner Strength, Urban Evasion and rotate an exhaustion perk with the other slot. It's what I have the most success with.

  • Most Billy's I've gone against has kicked my ass, so he can't be that buggy

  • Next killer is Donkey from Shrek, book it

  • I was in a match against an Iri Huntress with an Ebony Mori, we got the quad escape, oof

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

    • Not doing any generators. Ever.
    • Crouching around the map at all times.
    • Going down in 30 seconds (if that).

These things really make the game unbearable, since I can't carry three incompetent people if the killer just leaves me to go for them. If you are one of these people, and you know it, with all love and respect: #%$* you. : )

1st one, I agree with you 100%. The other two are subjective. I crouch around all the time, but I also run Urban Evasion to not disturb the crows and get to gens quietly. I also go down in 30 seconds sometimes, depending on who the killer is, so you can't really claim the last two to mean they're a bad survivor.

I hate when I'm hooked and no one even attempts to try for the rescue. The survivors that body block, purposely sandbag and help the killer are the worst by far though

All gens done on me in 4 minutes, should I just quit now?

    https://youtu.be/JhV9HFzCHs8

Some killer 4k matches last 4 minutes, should I quit?

  • I don't know if I have a favorite, but The Game is the worst. Badham is a very close second because the game acts like it's the only playable map we got

  • Spidey Sense is a very good perk and is a must have for stealth players that suck at killer interactions, like me

  • Myers. He's difficult to use and needs to have really good add-ons for me to have a shot. Laurie doesn't offer a lot of selection of skins either and I rarely use her perks.

  • As a survivor, I never understood the whole 99% thing. It doesn't make any sense to me. So I would support some sort of regression to the gate if it's not fully opened. The problem with that is if you're the last survivor left, it'll be pretty much game over, unless you either have a key to reopen the hatch, or the gates are a good distance apart, which doesn't happen often unless it's an indoor map.

  • @Yords said:

I think the problem with playing stealthy is that you are not being hooked. If your teammates are on second and death hook, you should probably get hooked on purpose to relieve pressure off them. At least going into a chase delays a death.

I understand where you're coming from, however, I did this several times and I was left to die half the time because no one came back to help me, even though I gave myself up for them, so I don't do it anymore.

  • I see no Bloodlust hurting Myers for sure, but I think the other killers will be fine because of their lunge attacks.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Honestly iv just had enough of these games, if i am chased first and do a long chase just to go down and see 3 people running around doing nothing im giving up. i will not carry bad players anymore and ill just get out the game and actually find a new one where players actually play, im tired of running kindred to see all 3 people run towards me and im tired of having to do most of the gens and still lead on the longest chases in the match to just have a chance. FIX THE DAMN RANKING OR PUNISH PLAYERS NOT DOING THE OBJECTIVES OR DECENT CHASES.

I'll meet you halfway, survivors should be punished in some way for not finishing the objectives. But if they suck at chases, as I tend to at times, there's nothing that can be done about that. Maybe with the disabling of Bloodlust this weekend will show some kind of difference. Other than that, I feel your pain and agree that more often than not, you get terrible teammates instead of good ones in solo survivor.

  • Dude, the percentage of players that would be silly enough to do this would be no more than....4%? Take a deep breath, that won't make an impact in whether or not they eliminate Bloodlust

  • For people like me that are terrible at looping, maybe I have a chance to escape more chases, I wouldn't bet on it though.

  • Congrats future Soldier!

Since July I haven't play much anymore either, I have work and family to tend to. Getting on at night and waiting 10 minutes for a match doesn't appeal to me, especially when I get in the lobby and encounter either bad teammates, sweaty killers and Spirits that end the match in 3 minutes. I've slipped back down to rank 17 and I'll live with it.

I honestly don't think that Undying was designed with the fact that newer maps have some totems that are close to impossible to find in mind. The least they could do is tell a survivor that Undying is active when cleansing/standing within the aura reading range of a totem.

Undying On The Game Map? Guess I'll just live with the Hex this round.

It's devotion 0. Learn how to read.

Besides I'm not complaining about anything smart man. I'm merely saying matchmaking and ranks make no sense as rank 20 matches are exactly the same as rank 1 matches.

    Try again.

EDIT: Can you even read at all? I literally said I would login in my gf's profile as she's on rank 20 just to show everyone that rank 20 is the same as red ranks in terms of the survivors you get.

I NEVER claimed to be a new player and NEVER whined about ANYTHING. Learn how to read. You're embarrassing yourself.

People like him just like to post nonsense because they believe that they're posting something that's profound, but they just end up sounding dumb. Don't put too much into it.

  • I just tried to play killer tonight for the first time and I got waxed. Was playing against a SWF and they looped, flashlight and t-bagged me the whole time. Found out they were purple ranks and I'm rank 20, obviously. I got frustrated, but I was even more frustrated because I never get survivors that are working cohesively in my games!

  • I guess I never paid that close enough attention to know that this was a thing *shrugs*

  • I just turned it off over the weekend, I don't play as often now that we're in the middle of football season, on top of of work and family stuff. Not to knock PS4 players, PC killers are really good and for a now casual survivor as I am, I lack the skill to compete with them.

  • @GamerGirlFeng said:

I noticed a similar thing. Killers who are more about fun and less about sweat tend to be on after midnight my time. The later in the day it gets the worse it gets.

I'll sign off on this, lately I've had a slew of crappy games as solo survivor during the day against cheap, sweaty killers. I play at night and am waiting 10-15 minutes for a game, but more often than not, the games are more enjoyable to play.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Keys are an awful mechanic. They grind the game to a halt as all the survivors stop working gens to immerse and find the hatch. Or you get screwed over because one teammate decided to blend and hunt for the hatch at the expense of everyone else. Keys ruin gameplay on both sides, and it feels very dissatisfying to be doing well as a killer only to have survivors randomly escape the match.

Ebony Mori cheapens the game just as much. There should be changes on both sides

  • @herrik666 said:

I completely agree. I don't think it's ever going to happen but I'd love the devs to remove the option to suicide on hook.

I don't know how this can be done when the main objective for the killer is to hook survivors and the survivor must have a chance to get themselves off (yep, that sounds bad lol).

I get what the OP is saying, unfortunately solo survivors don't really care that much because a) they're all strangers to one another so why should they be bothered about hurting the team and b) the chances of playing them again is minimal, unless they're red ranks.

  • I dislike Spirit, Ghostface, Doctor and Leatherface. Freddy is just boring with an unreal lunge attack.

Thanks for your info really appreciate survivors do complain about nearly every killer

And killers complain about survivors. It's a loving circle of DBD life.

Clown kinda has to regularly slug. He cannot afford the time it takes to carry to the hook every survivor he downs. I almost always slug the first survivor and try and find someone else ASAP.

    Clown needs to.

Every Clown I've gone against were Sonic the Hedgehog fast. I'm exaggerating of course, but Clown has speed, to be a fat dude.

  • Is it me, or does the woman looks like Nadine from Uncharted 4?

  • @Gcarrara said:

They did make some changes to the spirit throughout the years. Which one are you specifically talking about?

Her vaping/teleporting, it's nearly impossible to avoid. Maybe it's just a console issue, I don't know.

  • Congrats! I'm curious, how often do you play as a Tier 1 Michael Myers? I'm not suggesting that's how you got to Rank 1, I just think those are the best killer matches in the game.

  • Frame rate is awful on console, I have a PS4 and the constant stuttering has cost me plenty of games lately. Don't get me wrong, the frame rate was never good to begin with, but it seems worse now. Combine that with a monitor that doesn't have a good refresh rate and I play with lag on top of frame issues. I recently switched to a monitor that takes care of the lag, but hopefully the devs will improve the frames for consoles.

  • I've never come across a basement Bubba. I get either the ones that camp a hooked survivor, or one that spams the chainsaw attack.

  • @Awakey said:

    This matters... Why again?

Not that it's a bad thing, just why does anyone care about the sexuality of a horror games character?

I hear what you're saying, but if some games want to include things like blood type in their character bios, then why not sexual orientation?

  • I run survivor and I've never understood the concept of hanging out by the exit gate. If we as survivors aren't hooked and the gate is open, bye see ya next time!

  • I've been doing this from the beginning, unless I have a toolbox challenge to complete. It's the best counter to a 3 gen scenario

  • I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon. However, this game can wear you down and become not that fun to play. I kept getting Leatherface in my games and when I didn't, it was usually Spirit, Dr. and Ghostface. The Tome also had some (for me) impossible challenges to complete. Needless to say, I died a lot and my rank went from purple to yellow. So I haven't played in about a month, but may return this weekend. Sometimes you just gotta take a break from it.

  • I can't imagine any killer being upset about a survivor quitting, unless they're that worried about depipping. As a survivor main, I can understand why, because I quit on all Leatherface matches. I just say that they don't like the killer in the lobby.

1 2 3 4 … 10
