Survivors have Windows of Opportunity which encourages them not to learn to plan their escape.
So how can Lightborn be a problem, Surely both sides deserve equal treatment regarding perks that take away a bad part of the game?
I’m not agreeing with the original post but you’re off-base. WoO is 1) a good perk for new players to learn how to loop or learn maps and 2) a good way to avoid getting caught in a dead end. It’s not the same as not learning to plan your escape especially if a stealth killer surprises you.

So we should remove all toxic play styles then? Okay how about gen rushing, running four flashlights and flash bangs on a single team, boil over combos, honestly we have to get rid of map offerings entirely so survivors can't run stealth builds on massive maps and just completely hold the game hostage, not to mention endurance stacking with dead hard and made for this, the sheer amount of misery and toxicity survivors are currently capable of far exceeds that of the killer.
The amount of survivor bias on this forum never ceases to amaze me.
Your problem is that you are viewing everything a survivor does as toxic which just isn’t true. I’m sorry you’ve had bad games but having all gens done quickly, getting blinded/stunned for a save, and being on the other end of boil over are all counterable and not toxic gameplay. They also are not always easy to pull off whereas camping and slugging are both easy and effective.
Back to the 4% I cannot believe you are even complaining about this. It’s 4%. That’s almost NOTHING. It also punishes survivors for every failed attempt of which there will be MANY. Survivors need the ability to at least try and unhook themselves because of camping killers and being abandoned by teammates. The entire game was built around the dynamic of hooking and unhooking and whereas killers can abuse that mechanic through camping and slugging survivors have no way to do so. The least we can give them is the measly 4%.

Earlier today I was running a few errands, and got an amazing idea for a potential map. Something that I've always found creepy/alluring is abandoned shopping malls. A two level shopping center would be a fantastic idea for a map, with certain shops open for potential generator locations.
The killer could be something like
- college dropout
- rogue security officer
- deceased clerk
or something entirely different. As a developer myself (only starting), it's something that I would play, enjoy, and probably get freaked out the next time I went shopping. haha.
What are some other thoughts on this?
I always wanted them to add the shopping mall from Silent Hill into that realm

Thank you for mentioning Scissorman.

That’s hard to answer cuz there are many for different reasons.
Doctor because he’s hard to hide against and often, but not always, Doctor is there just to make you miserable.
i love Ghost Face but I see him so often he’s become oversaturated to me.
Wraith because, as someone else mentioned, ppl that play him tend to be miserable and his uncloak boost is insanely fast.
Cenobite because I play solo queue and he’s just insanely annoying to play against.
As for the original comment regarding Legion…. I agree… they are the lamest lore-wise. I also don’t love Huntress and Clown because I find them boring.

you dont have to play it but just own the game and link account
If I owned it I’d definitely play it lol but I wanna romance survivors too!
-
1) some players are just jerks and love being jerks and you can’t try to reason why
2) slugging can be a tactic but there’s a fine line between strategy and straying from normal gameplay. If I notice another survivor nearby I might leave a player slugged to go after them or drop a survivor if a hook gets sabotaged. Slugging someone and then just camping them or slugging multiple people with no intention of hooking are, in my opinion, instances of taking advantage of the game and count as not participating in normal gameplay. I don’t know how people can defend it.

David King, Ace Visconti, and Mikaela Reid.

Exactly. You shouldn’t dodge lobbies at all. Just play the game and do your best. Have a great day!

As a killer, I'm sure you have
I main survivor and I’m having fun. Chases are my biggest in-game weakness and yet I just do what I can! The event will be over soon so you won’t have to worry about it much longer. Personally, I haven’t been using the invitation powers but like the extra BP from having it when the endgame requirements activate.

Sloppy Butcher can be used anytime and the only counter to hemorrhaging is fully healing.
Yes so what do you think the correct solution is? Maybe these perks should heal you at 100% or maybe these perks should increasing healing speed towards people that heal you by 100% giving you an equivalent amount of time saved. Similar to how Dwight's leader perk works.
We already have Renewal (Second Wind) for an insta-heal after unhooking. I guess my best solution would be a light nerf to Sloppy Butcher that will drain your healing bar instead of resetting it. It won’t guarantee that you’ll find a way to get healed before it drains but at least there’s a chance it won’t completely negate Resurgence.
-
@Seraphor said:
The point of Sloppy Butcher is to counter healing, which includes healing perks such as these.
This is how the game works, there are counters to things.
Distortion counters aura reading. So what if the same was argued for this? Maybe aura reading perks should bypass Distortion? So the perks aren't wasted?
Yes, but there is a bit of a difference here. Distortion is token-based so it can become ineffective. If you run enough aura reading perks you can disable it often as a counter. Sloppy Butcher can be used anytime and the only counter to hemorrhaging is fully healing. Distortion can’t make any aura-reading perk completely ineffective (though it would be hard not to) whereas SB can and does make Resurgence a wasted slot.

Personally I feel the map needs another tile in the more barren corner of the map but I don't care for the overall design of the map. I love the aesthetic and actual art and I'd argue visually it's one of the best maps in the game but I just hate how all the tiles are currently arranged on it.
I would love for at least one more map in that realm to exist though. Same thing with Lery's as well. I feel like every realm should have at least two maps for better variety and somewhat consistent RNG factors.
If they can have 5 variations of Badham Preschool they can do at least 1 other map on all the other realms.

Wow you truely have been caught in solo queue.
I play with a duo survivor most of the time but I would not consider myself a good survivor. Any decent random though will know how to position themselves around a hook to make sure no one takes a trade, it's rather easy and any person who has watched a survivor streamer/youtuber would know how to do so.
Unless it's bubba/billy/huntress or a killer with max stbfl than It really isn't that hard to make an unhook vs a camping killer with just 2 people.
There is nothing hard about survivor except chase, macro is far harder on killer and even then it's not very challenging. People just are not good at dbd, that's it.
Yeah, I do play solo queue. And, no, it’s not THAT easy. It depends on the killer player and the situation. It’s far easier for the killer.
-
I didn’t forget it. It’s a waste of a slot if you’re trying to get good value out of MFT. First, you have to unhook someone which we know isn’t rare but can still be negated by being tunneled or not getting the save. Secondly, it works for half a second which means you have to time it just right… not too hard to do but still easy to screw up. Third, it causes exhausted which then deactivates MFT so now the perk you’re trying to get extra value from won’t benefit you until after this chase is over with. Lastly, it’s a one time use so once it’s done it’s an empty perk slot. Also, glad to see you mentioned my other points,
-
So you’re comparing running around the map hiding while your teammates die so you can get a “*50/50” chance at an escape to resorting to camping? No, I don’t think so. Camping is far easier and far more effective. What you’re describing for a survivor is left up to chance more than anything else, and will actually require more work as you still have to try and evade the killer.

What do you mean exactly? Low tier killers like trapper are forced to perform an extremely atrocious setup before their power can be utilised. That is not easy at all, especially against a swf. Meanwhile, if the killer camping is not a billy or bubba (or tier 3 myers, trickster, huntress), then 2 healthy survivors can go to the hook and rescue safely if they know what they’re doing. Also, reassurance is a perk, and it is literally the press of a single button. Camaraderie is also a perk, and it doesn’t even require a button press. So no, that argument is invalid.
First of all, I’m sick of hearing about SWF. Whenever anyone wants to complain about anything they bring up SWF. 1) not everyone plays in a group and 2) even while SWF may pose a challenge they don’t rob you of your agency. Secondly, it’s EASY for any killer to camp. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Blight or a Trapper. Unless you’re an absolutely atrocious player you’re going to get a down eventually. Then all you have to do is hook and wait. I never once stated that camping can’t be countered but it’s risky to do so and very difficult unless you’re in one of those magical SWF everyone talks about. Reassurance is a great perk, but it has a timer so while it might buy you some time it won’t just make everything work out ok. Same with the other. That brings up another point: I’ve seen so many people on this forum complain about not wanting to bring a certain perk in order to counter another like, for example, Made for This. So in what world should every survivor have to bring these perks to maybe try and counter a camping killer? Even if survivors are successful in getting a player off the hook with a camping killer it almost always results in a hook trade, becoming injured, the hooked player hitting the second hook stage, the hooked survivor being tunneled and downed again, or a combination of these. And, yes, while there are ways to counter these things they are not as easy and effective as camping is in the first place not to mention the pressure it puts on survivors because they must abandon their objectives to try and pull it off. Most times the risk isn’t worth it so sometimes if survivors notice a killer camping they won’t even try to help lest they put themselves in a worse situation. If it’s closer to endgame the risk of abandoning gens becomes less severe but otherwise remains.
Lastly, no, my argument is nowhere near invalid and you didn’t even address it properly. While you tried to divert the discussion by talking about killers that may not be as good at some things as others or perks that can help you if you’re being camped the point of the matter is this: camping is easy, and it is effective. If it wasn’t why would killers resort to it? Why would so many just use it as a tactic to begin with if it weren’t? The same is true of tunneling and slugging though the latter has its own risks. The point is that if killers feel they’re losing the edge they then have a very EASY and EFFECTIVE way to bring the balance back in their favor or to at the very least ensure they get a kill. Survivors do not have that luxury. Yes, as someone else mentioned they can choose to just hide but what good will that do? Hiding won’t get you any closer to escaping. It’s entirely possible for a good group of survivors to combat a camping killer and still get an all-out, but that also doesn’t change the point.

To be fair survivors always have the option to just hide and locker-hop, which they often do if the killer's doing too well.
How is that going to help them escape though? Wait it out and hope the killer gets everyone else so you can maybe get the hatch?
-
Now the perk is gaslighting you? I’d say I’ve heard it all but then I’m sure someone else would say something even more ridiculous. Resilience and Hope are the only two perks it has great synergy with and Hope is endgame. The only other perk you mentioned is also endgame and a one-time use.
PS. You want survivors to not remain injured to get the boosts from perks like Made for This and Resilience? Maybe you all shouldn’t have complained until healing was nerfed into being near useless. The current meta of “genrushing?” Killer mains created it when they decided healing was an issue. You wanted more chases? But survivors can’t have something that benefits them in doing so? Guess what? You’ll get even more genrush meta. Learn to stop complaining about EVERYTHING.
-
I definitely feel the game has shifted away from horror but moreso in terms of gameplay than the characters they’re introducing. On a side note… to whoever said Artist isn’t scary… I think she’s one of the most terrifying killers in the game. To each their own!
-
@Annso_x said:
Honestly, I think they should delete keys. The survivor bloodweb is cluttered enough as it is and I think buffing the aura reading until it's viable would be too strong. Also, the hatch mechanic is criticized enough that survivors not being able to escape through it after it got closed wouldn't be a terrible loss.
(and they should delete maps as well, they were only useful to find the hatch or against specific killer powers and neither of those things are relevant anymore)
I disagree about maps. They’re great to pair with Detective’s Hunch especially when it comes to finding totems. I would still rework them but not just do away with them outright.
-
Skull Merchant is already TOO good at what she does. That’s why no one likes playing against her.

So I just went to the website and im not sure that is this month’s reward? It was listed under offers for Prime Day which makes me think it’s just a bonus rather than this month’s reward.

@jesterkind said:
As far as Prime's freebie rewards go, this is pretty par for the course.
I don't mind if DBD's rewards occasionally dip down to the average, if most of them are still considerably above that average. Hell, even if they weren't, free BP is free BP.
I mean they did give away a whole premium rift pass not long ago so yeah… but I feel like free BP should be a bit more since we do pay for Prime.

I just had a match against a Demogorgon with Lethal Pursuer and one of my teammates played the offering where we all spawn together lol honestly though I like the randomization of where everyone spawns. It’s completely fair that way.

It’s the Observer. The spider things wrapped him up not in a web but in special anniversary attire.

Clock Tower. I know that’s super obscure but it was one of the horror games I grew up with alongside Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Fatal Frame. Scissorman would be a great killer. I also think a half-chapter with just Alan Wake as a survivor would be cool.
Movie-wise…. Psycho. Step aside, Jason, the OG momma’s boy is here.

Lots of different types of Kindred for Killers to look at/into. I don't know if it would make sense for The Entity to pull in, like, Cain, but it's not a stretch to have BHVR write an antidiluvian showing up the in the Realm. Or maybe, like, something fourth or fifth gen if even those are too powerful.
I'm immediately thinking of something like an older Gangrel that has an enhanced Spies from the Shadows or the power to *turn into* a crow on the map and hide/reduce their terror radius
Come to think of it, pretty much anything World of Darkness works. Kind of surprised there isn't already a Garou-style Killer.
The issue with that is that not all monsters in those games are… monsters. I thought the whole point of WoD was exploring humanity through these supernatural beings. Of course, many of the killers in this game were twisted into what they are, but idk…
-
If it’s at that point in the game I wouldn’t be so upset if a killer started doing that… but the point is that it’s super easy for a killer to do these things. Game isn’t going your way? Time to camp and tunnel. Survivors don’t have that option. Game not going well? Too bad, nothing you can do but press on.
-

Medikts, BNPs and Circle of Healing where overpowered. Entirely deserved nerfs.
Post nerf Medkits are not bad at all. Far from being "near useless" .Styptics and syringes are still very powerful. With addons you get fast heals or 2 selfheals, which is fair. You are either using them wrong or got too used to their overpowered pre nerf state.
Pharmacy is a weak perk but Botany/Healing builds still work well. They are simply overshadowed by "stay injured, blitz though generators, and get healed by adrenaline" builds.
Prove thy Self was fair and did not need a nerf however nefing it will indirectly help bad/intermediate survivors just like the medkit changes.
With busted medkits people were healing too often even when there was no need. Prove is encouraging people to group up even when its a bad idea. Now survivors will spread out more often and it will be much harder to pressure gens.
Every killer that got buffs recently is mid tier/weak or had some bad addons buffed. Nothing wrong with that.
Medkits may have needed a speed decrease but not efficiency. Why would I bring a purple medkit now when I can get the same thing from a brown one? That makes them redundant. CoH may have also needed a nerf but like most things it got OVER nerfed. Either way the point is that they don’t just nerf/buff one side regardless of what anyone thinks.

Yup and they once again buff survivors while nerfing Sadako.
How many survivors buff and/or killer nerfs we got in the last 3 or 4 patches ?
Devs have removed old DH just to release 2 stronger survivors perks right after it : MFT and now the N. Cage's perk... Meanwhile they have nerfed all gen regress perks to the ground.
Here we go again…. Healing was nerfed to the point that medkits are near useless which in turn nerfed Pharmacy and Botany Kbowledge, CoH was nerfed, they just nerfed Prove Thyself and BNP… Hag got her add-ons buffed, the last update buffed every featured killer perk minus one. But I’m not surprised given your post history….
-
Does Distortion activate if the killer player is using cheats to read your aura? I’m not saying this Wraith was cheating - I just ask because I’ve had more than a few games lately where killers were running no aura reading perks and had none tied to their powers or add-ons and yet they miraculously knew exactly where to go to find survivors. It could be luck but the way it happened in-game I don’t think so.

you know what? That’s my bad. I don’t own the Pig so I don’t play as her, but I thought that aura reading was part of her base power and not an add-on. Thank you for correcting me!
-
Instead of changing Corrupt Intervention why don’t we just change No Mither so it doesn’t start you out injured and you become broken upon taking damage instead? It’s something that perk desperately needs and it won’t make it as strong against Corrupt.
-
Med-kits should be designed for self-healing. Getting a bonus to heal teammates should be just that - a bonus for being altruistic. The entire med-kit system is completely broken now. If I can heal my teammate without needing a med-kit I’m going to do so and save it for when I need it. They could’ve slowed down healing speeds without touching the efficiency. CoH is a pointless perk now. Why should I waste a perk slot and 20 seconds of my time to bless a totem that the killer can snuff out and that you have to be within a certain range of just to get an altruistic healing bonus when half the time I can’t even get my teammates to bother healing me at all? Self-care is not an issue. If you want to penalize speeds because they’re upsetting the balance, sure, but making things pointless is, well, pointless. How many posts have I seen on this forum about gens getting done too quickly and that survivors should be doing other things? Well, you all complained about healing so now doing so or using boons is pointless and survivors will just focus on gens. Most of my perk builds as survivor these days are focused on gen speed because if there’s no point in healing then my best defense is to get those done as quickly as possible.
-
It’s great that you get to keep everything because you earned those items. The way it was done before was… imo… kind of dumb. I mean you could easily just wait until you used everything up that you had before you prestiged but still…. As far as the other part goes… people are dumb. I’m sorry to be so blunt but thinking someone is either a bad player or an exceptionally skilled one based on something as trivial as prestige is just nutso. Prestige isn’t a skill ranking. It’s not a reward you get for completing specific challenges. It’s just a leveling system from spending bloodpoints which everyone gets no matter how they play. Yes, exceptionally good players are more likely to earn more per trial, but that still wont give any indication of skill through how much BP they spend on a single character. People need to just stop and play the damn game and have fun.
-
Who cares what the devs think? Is the entity pleased with you? That’s what matters!
in all seriousness though I don’t really ever consider any game as a win or a loss. I guess if I had a miserable time then I lost but if I had fun and actually got to do some stuff then yeah I won. No matter what side I’m playing I try to reach certain goals…. When playing killer I want to hook at least every survivor once and when playing survivor I like to have at least 2-3 gens done before I get taken out. If I can manage that im pretty happy. On the survivor side I always look at it as a team thing too…. If I didn’t survive did I at least do enough to help my teammates? I wish people wouldn’t take it too seriously and I get why the devs aim for certain rates but let’s just have fun… no side needs a specific number of kills or escapes.

I liked most of the changes for the perks but i noticed that they didnt nerf killer perks just Prove theyself. How funny. I knew one day it was obviously gonna get nerfed but it feels a little out of place when you look at the other perks in this update. There are plenty of killer perks that couldve been nerfed. I think its kinda dumb to nerf a perk because its used so much but this is dead by daylight and thats what happens here. So jolt couldve gotten a cool down but didnt. Even though its the most used killer perk right now. And im not sure if its a bug or a shadow buff but everytime it pops it makes the survivor scream. And no it wasnt eruption im 100% sure its just jolt. They "nerfed" pain res and its still one of the top used perks by killers. They had alot of perks to choose from to nerf for killers but i guess thats being saved for the meta shakeup. Lastly to top it off they took the bonus bloodpoints away from prove as well. Was that really necessary?
I’ve had games where I’m the only one doing gens and I got the least amount of BP. I get that chases are essential - if others aren’t getting chased then I won’t have time to do gens - but sometimes other players just do nothing. Gens should give more BP overall depending on time spent doing them with bonuses for completing or coop as extra incentive.

Which two perks are a risk to bring as wasted slots, Self Care and Windows? How do you come to this conclusion? Do most of your matches not result in a single chase?
I was referring to Hope or any perk that only activates during endgame. I don’t know how you concluded otherwise.

It is fun but during the 2nd challenge it gave me No Mither + Self-Care so that didn’t go as planned lol
-
Ya’ll are arguing over the perks potentially being OP and I’m still trying to fathom that they’re legitimate. What a fudging world.
-
I also wondered… most of time i see survivors d/c is right after being downed or hooked. While I like the idea of bots coming into play it would be unfair to the killer to down someone and then a perfectly healthy bot pops in that they have to chase and do it all over again.
