they don’t exist because they don't need it.

You think skull merchant is going to win by chasing randomly around the map and using drones on loops? Hell no

    It's same for Hag.

    Knight can do it tho.

Why do you think 3-gen is impossible to beat now? It was the case during CoB era, but that was broken. All perks of that build were nerfed hard.

You talk about merchant and knight, they are m1 killers. What can they do to you when you prerun from gen and just return when they leave? They are not able to down you fast enough and if they commit, then you will probably win.

You don't really need SWF to beat it, just another survivor who knows how to beat it (so you pressure two gens) is enough.

I’ve had two recent games with the Knight who set up a 3-gen from the start and they were the two longest games I’ve played. It’s not as easy to break and win as you say. These players literally did nothing but defend the three generators. Knight’s power can be used quickly enough that he can switch from defending one gen to the next without having to move far, and if he does he’ll get a speed bonus for drawing a longer patrol line. He can utilize his guards to damage gens for him, and if he pairs this with gen perks then he’s got a very difficult to beat set up. It’s not impossible…. The last game I played we did end up finishing the last gen but only because he eventually started downing and hooking. (I think even he got bored after a while.) I’m not for completely nerfing the 3-gen strategy but it does draw games out for painfully long amounts of time, and is borderline op for certain killers. Like with the introduction of the endgame collapse I do think something needs to be implemented. For instance, I sort of like the idea of changing up regression. Maybe something that will only allow a generator to regress to a certain percentage of the amount of progress that was on it. For instance, if a gen is @ 90% maybe it will only regress to 1/3 of that @ 30% instead of 0. I also think one thing that could help would be if they fix survivor perks that use active abilities so they can be used in conjunction. For instance, perks like Blast Mine, Potential Energy, and Repressed Alliance are all activated using the same key/button. They need to have the game automatically assign each perk to a different key/button so you can use them how you choose. Being able to stack PE and stun the killer with a blast mine so you can dump it into another gen would be useful or whatever other combination.

  • There are maps that are notoriously more killer-sided as well. It’s nice to have variety in a game, and when you get something that’s challenging take it as that: a challenge. There are certain killers that I just struggle to play against because they’re so powerful but I just try my best and try to learn ways to do better rather than want them changed. I can understand if something is so imbalanced that it’s literally a flaw, but I don’t think there’s a single map like this in game. Yes, some definitely have more designs that favor different aspects of gameplay but not to a detrimental degree. Badham and Haddonfield are known for being survivor-friendly but I actually have a lesser escape rate on those than I do others.

  • Thank you so much! I hope they fix Eyrie of Crows soon. I voted for that one solely because it’s the only map I’ve not been on in a long time!

  • I recommend trying different builds and seeing what works out for you. There were a lot of perks that didn’t sound good to me when I first started playing but then came to realize they had great value. Unfortunately, I can never run Self-Care without Botany Knowledge so I wouldn’t recommend it. Have you tried trying to complement them? If Lithe is a go to perk you could try Vigil as it will help you recover faster and Quick & Quiet + Lightweight will make no noise when vaulting (in case the killer doesn’t have line of sight) and make scratch marks appear less so they’ll have a harder time keeping on you. Botany Knowledge can be great with We’ll Make It for a super speed boost.

  • Yeah, I believe they should implement a feature that helps with this. I love blast mining killers and now I feel bad :(

    Terminator and Darth Vader.

Woah, I haven’t seen anyone mention DV before! I mean, yeah, he’s scary but is he suited for a horror game setting? Hmm… Terminator I could see because the T-1000 scared the crap outta me as a kid but even then it’s not what I would’ve guessed. And thank you for your comment on Terrifier; I respect other peoples opinions and tastes but I personally find the Hostel-esque type films to be vacuous. I can agree about the final girl comment though.

I understand what you’re talking about is hard tunnelling at 5 gens which is something that is a jerk move. I do however think the game is clearly not designed for you to chase and hook every survivor…equally. Spreading hooks around too much has proven time and again to be a losing strategy when up against even decent survivors, let alone genuinely good ones. Most fair killers (including streamers whose games you can see) will always prioritise 1/2 survivors over the others and the general advice is to try and eliminate someone at about 5/6 hooks. Some people would call that unfun gameplay. Hell, I’ve even seen people say swapping between two targets is “stealth tunnelling”.

Would the game be more fun if killers could commit to giving everyone a good amount of chase time and two hook every survivor before then eliminating them? Probably. But when you compare how long it takes to two hook everyone vs how long gens take you realise why that’s not feasible in most games.

Theres a reason most people agree that tunnelling is sometimes necessary and is even accepted at certain parts of the game. Tunnelling at 5/4 gens is always awful and I’m sure the devs don’t want it. But killer’s having the agency to tunnel if they think it’s necessary is clearly part of the game’s design. There are deterrents yes, but nothing to outright stop it.

We must have a different definition of tunneling. If your plan is to have someone out by 5/6 hooks then go for it. Every instance I’ve seen has ppl doing nothing but antagonizing one survivor until they’re dead even if they never hook another survivor once before that. I’ve seen some matches when during chases killers won’t even hit other survivors that get in the way unless they absolutely have to such as if a survivor is bodyblocking them. If it’s endgame or 3 or more gens are done and you’re feeling the pressure I think that’s the only time focusing on one survivor can become strategic. But if you’re in a game with me be prepared because if I see someon being tunneled I’ll do everything I can to get in your way.

That is part if why a lot of killers tunnel these days, ie to get the other survivors, who would otherwise be hyperfocusing on their gens, off said gens and taking a protection hit. By the time that Clair was on her third hook stage 3 gens had popped without fail, possible four, and these days gen defense is extremely tricky and neight impossible, if the survivors are determined to just slam gens.

Yeah, yeah its "literally the survivors only objective", but it feels way different now, then it did half a year ago. All changes to the game arent happening in a vacuum and most killers are not backed against the wall with literally kill or be killed their only options.

And survivors are feeling it, too, with slamming gens asap, so that they can hopefully escape before the killer can tunnel one after the other. Its a brutal vicious circle, but dont even think that the face camping will make a big difference, all it will do is shift the last killers focus on tunneling, because literally nothing else works anymore.

Dude, I respect your response and in some instances it might make sense but that wasn’t what happened in this game. We didn’t get the gens done right out. They made it pretty clear before even first hook that they weren’t giving up on Claire even if it would’ve been advantageous to switch targets. We only ended up getting the rest of those gens done quickly because after her first hook it became apparent it was a waste of time to do anything but. They had NoeD which is how they got me right after I got her off hook and how they got her down when she was trying to help me. So if someone is so hell bent on winning to the point that they choose to tunnel as a strategy then why would they not have given me the hook when it was so easy to do so? They have NoeD which provides a pretty big advantage… why not go for the kills? Anyway, as a survivor main even I don’t like it when all gens are done in a few minutes (which ONLY happens when killers are either AFK or just f’ing around) because it’s boring and we need an antagonist to challenge us. I believe tunneling takes the aforementioned instance and completely reverses it so that one survivor is out of the game quickly without being able to do anything. It’s a cheap way to play imo and provides an unfair and unfun experience. If genrushing were still a thing I wouldn’t do that either because it’s the same to me… boring. Half the time when I bring a toolbox and esp BNP I don’t use it right away to get gens done quick, it’s more like an ace in the hole for those last minute finishes when you’re really feeling the pressure.

  • Guys, you might hate me for saying this but I don’t want Art the clown in the game. I was not a fan of Terrifier because it seemed to put all its focus on “how shocking can we be in this day and age” rather than on telling a good scary story. Dead by daylight is, surprisingly, very low on the gore factor. Gore is an essential part of horror, but I think its importance is rooted in realism rather than shock value. I honestly think DBD needs to up that realism when it comes to moris and such but I don’t think they’d ever be able to “do justice” to a character whose entire franchise is built on torture/gore porn.

I hear this a lot. The word "skill" is tossed around a lot in here.

Let's break down the role of a killer.

    1. Kill survivors

If someone has the word "killer" in their name then you can guess what they're gonna do.

    Killer: someone who kills

The role of a killer in DBD: kill survivors

What's so hard to understand about that?

I'm a killer main. And I'm not a nice killer. My job is simple and only has one goal. To kill survivors.

    Do we get it now?

    A weak killer it seems.

Tunneling is a very loose term thrown about by survivors a lot when they lose a game.

For example tonight on my very last game I got some salty survivor in end game chat hurling abuse at me because I apparently tunneled Dwight out the game.

The team had 2 gens left before Dwight decided to DC on his deathhook and I already purposely left him on the ground after downing him for a third time to get picked up by his teammates when they had 3 gens left. I mean I actually gave him an extra life and allowed him to run away and get healed up.

Can't really do much more than that & obviously when you're on 2 gens with 4 survivors somebody needs to go asap.

Survivors definition of tunnelling has a very broad spectrum in this game & I bet half the people who complain about tunnelling aren't even getting tunnelled. Probably just some salty player that can't handle losing.

I don't play survivor that often but when I do I might get someone tunnelling me once every five games or so. Suck it up & move on.

I do think you’re right that some survivors will foolishly throw around terms even when it doesn’t apply. That being said I do see A LOT of tunneling for real and some of it is quite bizarre. One game I played against a Legion who was definitely tunneling Claire. We did a pretty good job of getting in the way so they’d have to lose focus on her but they managed to hook her a second time after the gens were done (we got them done pretty quick since they were spending so much time chasing her.) I was downed after saving her and the killer left me. When she came back to help me they downed and hooked her and then dropped me off at the exit gates. Like… they only wanted to kill her and once they did they didn’t care anymore. There were still 3 survivors they could kill but chose not to. Not your typical instance of tunneling but a very strange one indeed:

  • @Sometimes_Sage said:

    This is getting ridiculous:

"Make Killers stop doing what the game design tells them to do!"

"So let's give them an alternative but equaly strong strategy."

"No! It has to be a nerf! Preferably one that also hits Killers who don't even do the thing I'm upset about."

The game is designed for tunneling? Because when I play killer I go for whoever I can get first and I’m usually already onto the next survivor before the first one is even unhooked. If I happen to find the same survivor again yeah I’ll go for it but I never build a plan to just focus on one person until they’re dead. That’s a poor strategy and a jerk move. The game was designed to chase and hook every survivor. It was never designed for tunneling specifically.

  • Thank you so much for sharing all these codes!

Most powerful killer in the game when Nurse/Spirit/Blight exist in the game?

Those three are a lot harder to learn and play well imo. Cenobite can initiate a chain hunt which is a major hindrance and if someone interferes he can literally just teleport to them while they’re vulnerable.

  • No. He is probably the most powerful killer in the game. He definitely doesn’t need any buff. I won’t go so far as to say he needs a nerf, but definitely no buff.

  • @KateMain86 said:

The anti camping feature isn't meant to be a trade off with the killers. Its meant to punish killers for doing something they shouldn't be doing and giving the camped survivor a chance to escape the situation. If you aren't camping "gen rushing" isn't likely to happen anyway since you'll be playing normally by checking generators and interacting with survivors. Some things in the game just need to change for the better without needing to appease the other side. Gen pressure mitigates "gen rushing." Nothing currently mitigates camping effectively that doesn't greatly increase the chance of the killer just camping the person that tried to save the camped person. Sometimes its even impossible depending on the killer.

This is absolutely right. Need I also mention that genrushing isn’t even a thing anymore…. It refers to a time when survivors could use the BNP to get gens done in literally no time at all. Now everyone uses that term when they’re mad that survivors are doing their objectives.

  • the endgame collapse already takes care of idling survivors. As for survivors that aren’t doing anything but being toxic I think it’s fair to just d/c and take the penalty. Chances are if they’re only playing to torment you then they aren’t going to agree to end the game. Also, like was mentioned above me if they do this for killer they need to do it for survivors too. I saw a video today where an Oni literally body blocked a Quentin in a corner rather than hook him or go after the other survivors and when everyone else left just left him until the EGC ran out.

Autodidact doesn't have a speed boost per say, it just make skillchecks give a lot more extra health :) It works on any of your teammates including dying survivors, if you get lucky and get a skillcheck.

The only times autodidact doesn't work are if you're healing yourself or if you're healing with a med-kit.

Dying survivors trigger skull checks? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Thank you for your answer though!

  • I’m sorry. I’m a fairly newer player and after looking back at this perk I think I misunderstood how it works. Maybe you can clarify… does it only provide a speed boost while hitting skill checks or does it just boost speed overall once you have accumulated the tokens? If it’s the former then I see now it wouldn’t apply to healing dying survivors.

  • I just wanted to reply and say I’ve not had any issues since and that I did get a reply that it was likely an error message. Thanks for the replies!

  • I wish there was a feature that could differentiate between an accidental d/c (ie bad connection) and a purposeful one (ie salty player.) I also wish they’d give at least a small bonus for matches that never start (I get this all the time; before the game even loads in it’s the end screen with a message saying someone d/c before the match started.)

  • Thanks, I sent an inquiry. I hope it is just an error and I got the wrong message. I always try to be a good player.

I'd bet money one of the chapters this year will be from Until Dawn given supermassive (makers of until dawn) are making another game with DBD

I didn’t even consider that. If it’s from an another video game I’d personally want Scissorman from Clock Tower and Jennifer Simpson as a survivor. I’d also take Alan Wake as a survivor :)

Why is it okay? Because if a survivor is exposed, the killer is still required to outplay at the tile for the down.

    • 'Exposed' doesn't enable the killer to undo losing after the fact, they still have to win at the main pvp interaction.
    • 'Dead Hard' enables the survivor to undo losing after the fact, they no longer have to win at the main pvp interaction.

You’ve not convinced me. First of all, this whole “outplay” term is silly. Just because you escape a killer or hit a survivor doesn’t necessarily mean you outplayed them. Second of all, a killer doesn’t have to work as hard for an exposed target because they only have to hit them once rather than twice. Killers already move much faster than survivors and can enhance that speed with perks, powers, add-ons and bloodlust so there’s a reason survivors have two health states. Third of all, Dead Hard required the right timing to use effectively so if a killer was unable to anticipate and counter it then can’t we say they were “outplayed?” You speak as if a killer is entitled to downing a survivor but they’re no more entitled than a survivor is to escaping a chase. It’s also not as if using Dead Hard immediately loses the chase for you. So you have to work a little harder to down this survivor? So what? You have to work half as hard to down an exposed survivor.

  • It was fine as it was before the nerf. But if survivors have something nice we gotta nerf it, right?

  • No, I think it’s fine as is. It definitely doesn’t need a nerf as an experienced killer can easily negate its effects unless they’re surrounded by things to run into. It is supposed to be a perk so survivors need to be able to get some value out of it, and running to an area that will increase that value is good strategy. As a killer if you’re picking up on this then try and chase them to another area (they can’t hang out in one spot the entire match) or divert your attention to another survivor.

Maybe the event was only for Japanese twitter and someone made a mistake by telling us about it.

Nah, they said on their twitter it was worldwide.

  • @Anti051 said:

With seasoned players, the primary problem with dead hard atm is that it can pardon you from losing at the most basic aspect of the PvP interaction (looping). If you've been outplayed in the loop, you can't be allowed to nullify all the work the killer had to do to outplay and catch you with nothing but pressing a single button on time.

    I support the OP's #3 option.

As for the Nurse and Blight kits, those need actual (not pretend) nerfs.

Why is it okay to take away a pardon for survivors who got “outplayed” (even when Dead Hard does require actual timing skill to use) yet killers get perks like NoeD which can completely alter the outcome of the game when they’ve been “outplayed” and the only defense against is having blessed and/or cleansed every totem on the map. That requires no skill on the killers part, and it feels like a free pass. In fact, plenty of killer perks and powers cause Exposed which completely removes a health state. But survivors can’t benefit from a chance at avoiding losing one?

  • Fighting tooth and nail to get even 2 meters close enough? LMFAO! If you have to fight tooth and nail to hit a survivor then you’re just bad at the game. Killers move so much faster than survivors. Even when I do miss it’s not the end for me because it’s so easy to catch up to them again. You have to learn to make quick decisions while in a chase, just like survivors do.

  • Alright, thank you! I’m guessing I either just got some bad information or misunderstood it.

  • As others have said The Blair Witch is meant to be an unseen character and undoing this would just be redundant to her purpose.

  • It’s so hilarious seeing people say Dead Hard “doesn’t belong in DBD” and yet they’re the same ones who will overuse OP killer perks.

  • As much as I think they should’ve taken more time to make it better I believe it’s a terrible idea to remove content just because a bunch of ppl don’t like it. You have the option of purchasing it or not, and when playing this game you always run the risk of coming against a character you don’t like. Hopefully they’ll learn from this mistake and potentially make it better in the future. Meanwhile, anyone who does enjoy the new content can do so freely.

  • Thank you all for your input. I greatly appreciate it. I did two matches already and they both went pretty well, but I do think I’d prefer another platform. Maybe I’ll use the Switch as a reserve. Thanks again, everyone!
