  • Less than mediocre survivors? You straight up said they used very little pallets or windows and yet they got all 5 gens done with only 3 hooks? It doesn’t sound like they were less than mediocre… reflect on what you did wrong.

  • It’s true of both sides. The people playing sweaty or toxic on one side are doing it in the other too.

  • I’d also like to see Alan Wake in a survivor only chapter and I love Fatal Frame I just don’t know how I’d implement it.

"Everyone" is referencing the survivors, not the killer.

I wasn’t referring to doing well with her as a survivor, obviously.

Nobody uses that perk besides Scott screaming about how good it's supposed to be tbh

I use it but it has to be with the right build. It’s very easy to get no value from it. Besides, LB hides more than just scratch marks.

  • A lot of them are just…. Weird. He looks like he’s modeling at a portrait studio.

"Everyone" did well because she was bad. Myself included.

Elaborate how everyone can do well with someone if they’re such a bad killer?

  • It’s a nerf overall. Hitting difficult skill checks on switch is not always easy. If they want it to not be a nerf they should either remove that aspect or make it kick in whenever a survivor hits a great skill check. I think the latter would be fair. Before you could miss both skill checks and still get a boost.

I am not a game developer, so no idea. But also, I am not even saying that I will leave a Boil Over user slugged for four minutes. I will admit I have done so in the past, but not recently. But as I said, that's one of the few times I would not find slugging and watching the survivor bleed out as toxic. In fact, if I ever bring Boil Over, I give the Killer full permission to bleed me out.

Again, my intent is not to throw shade on any player specifically for how they play the game, merely to showcase things that are very unfun for everyone on the other side, to try to make a better game for everyone. Heck one of my favorite streamers is a basement bubba and occasionlly a survivor will come into his chat very angry, but he doesn't ban them (I've seen him ban someone like twice in over a year, its only when they make really homophoic comments or such), and many more times than you'd expect they end up being followers when they see how not seriously he takes the game. However, I know and he knows that were I to go against him, I would find the actual games vs. him very unfun without knowing him as I do.

Were we discussing how not fun basement bubbas can be for survivors, no they are not but I wouldn't name names anymore than I am naming him here.

    I hope that makes sense?

I mean if they want to drop me and leave so they don’t have to keep losing me I’d say that’s fine. But if they just stand over my body while I bleed out and everyone else does gens I’d find that unnecessary. Personally, when I play killer and I get outplayed with these strategies I find it hella fun and engaging. Today I got blast mined by a Jill so unexpectedly that I didn’t even kick her gen again to regress it because respect. I’m not that worried about “winning” as I am having fun. If I see a survivor who is just trolling and abusing their teammates I’ll take them out right away. That same match I had a player who instead of running just decided to teabag so I hooked him. After being unhooked he ran up to me and started doing it again so I just got rid of him. He decided he wasn’t helping his mates and wanted to taunt me so that I don’t respect.

As long as we get some cosmetics of killers dressing up as survivors too. I want Bubba to look like bunny Feng.

That reminds me of a video I saw where a Bubba was cosplaying as a survivor and the survivor was trying to catch him 😂

Cause the experience is awful and need to be adressed ?

Having a full map where 70% of the killer roster needs to patrol 3 gens and never move from this 20 square feets area is boring and not engaging.

If as a survivor you enjoy bullying killers every trials, fine for you but fact is there is a killer in every trial.

Aren't you tired of using MFT + Resilience in all your games ? Nobody force you to come here, you can leave the thread :)

It is funny as i'm pretty sure you never play killer but as an omnicient person you have a mind about the way they are balanced right ?

Before coming to a thread about balance, play both sides ;)

Well, for one I do play both sides. I main survivor because I find it more challenging and I relate more to that side in the overall horror lexicon. There are things about both sides that could use changes, but nothing is currently unplayable.

Two, I don’t bully killers. I don’t play SWF. I do always do my best in my games but if I screw up or get outplayed it’s fine. I survive less than the 40% goal although admittedly some of that is due to being overly altruistic. I accept it for what it is and I don’t get mad unless there are other players just purposefully being jerks or using exploits and that goes for both sides.

Three, I don’t use Made for This because I don’t even have Gabriel yet, but when I get him I’ll definitely try it out. I’ve had teammates run it and still get outplayed. I’ve had killer matches against it and still managed to nab them. I rarely use Resilience unless it’s part of a particular build I’m going for because otherwise my goal is to remain uninjured. I agree these perks make a noticeable difference if used effectively but not a big enough of one to throw my game across the room.

Four, the 3-gen epidemic isn’t that widespread among the killer base and part of the problem isn’t that these killers HAVE to 3-gen so much as it is that it’s so much easier for them than others, and a lot of ppl will always go that route.

Five, this isn’t a post about balance. I’m familiar with your posts. This is a post about you not liking specific aspects of the game and wanting them nerfed because for whatever reason you can’t handle them. I have a survivor bonus almost 80% of the time when I play which means plenty of others are still playing killer. You want to create an imbalance in this game so that you can have an easier time playing the role that you prefer. Plenty of other killer mains don’t have these issues that you’re having. Maybe you need to just keep losing enough that your MMR drops to where you’re comfortable.

Regardless of what needs to be addressed you don’t have to do it every other day. Try talking about something else and you might feel a bit better. Keep on trollin’ and you’ll just get trolled back.

  • I mean I don’t think this one has quotes…. But my general thoughts is that it’s something new even if it is just a loading screen. Why leave out one side?

You always did well before because she was F tier and extremely bad. Without her condemn she is bad in every aspect that makes a good killer good. If we nerfed her condemn she would need massive buffs around the board.

I did well because she was bad? Care to eleborate?

  • That’d be cool but they’d have to look like generic Halloween costumes you’d get from a store or something. I think it’d be fun and go along with the multiverse lore… like in Dwight’s world the Deathslinger is from a horror movie and is a popular costume but in Zarina’s world that’s true of the Hillbilly. Something like that!

I’d say it’s easier to loop a basic m1 than people act like. The loop is very much in the survivors favor generally speaking. A longer looping is more gens done and less tv teleporting, meaning more tvs will be available for clearing stacks. In other words if y’all are even decent loopers there should be plenty of tvs to clear stacks.

Also if the condemn is her only viable strategy I would say that means she’s too weak, not broken.

I didn’t say condemning was her only viable strategy. I said survivors only have one viable strategy to use against her. Given that she can play one way and then switch to condemnation mode therefore making all survivors have to switch to that strategy to even stand a chance is, imo, broken. I always did well with her before the changes. I thought she could use some light buffs but turning her into this was overkill.

Maybe so, but that's a problem with Boil Over. A single perk should not be a 100% guaranteed escape if you get the right RNG map (or bring a map offering.) Could I escape more if I used Boil Over? Absolutely. But because I still find that perk broken when it's so easily abused (only way to get value from it? Okay, sure. That's even more why it's broken.) is exactly why I refuse to use it when I play survivor.

But isn’t a lot of this game based on RNG? And it can be strategic as well - if I’m looping the killer effectively but get injured I know I can make a beeline for the building with the heights. It’s risky to abandon a good loop and hope to make it there and it won’t be an option all of the time either depending on distance. What would you rather Boil Over do?

Idk, maybe I'm wrong, but I haven't noticed them stacking. I stopped using the offering and so it seems others did too, cus I haven't seen nor used any for 5 games now.

I just want them to be more concise in their wording; stacking clearly means bonus stacks but if that’s not the case why are they implying it?

  • @Blueberry said:

    1. Pick up tape at start
    2. Hold tape while doing gens
    3. Win

Most groups are dying because they either don't pick up a tape till it's too late or they spend all game running tapes back and forth which is the wrong way to do it. You just want to grab it and then hold onto it. She's a basic m1 killer that is extremely loopable. People shouldn't be getting condemned unless they're ignoring the mechanic or suck at looping a basic m1 killer. I've been spamming her all day the last couple days and like 95% of groups do either 1 of those two things wrong which is why they get condemned. When they actually play properly it's a close game. You can't just play against her like old Sadako and not respect her condemn.

You speak as if Onryo somehow has like only a 4 ms movement speed or something. Some killers are definitely better at looping than others but none of them just straight up can’t do it. And looping isn’t as easy on the survivor side as everyone says it is. Maybe it’s because I play on switch idk but while I can loop effectively at times it isn’t as easy as just holding a button.

I do agree that holding a tape asap should be your strategy but if a killer has only one plausible strategy to beat them they might be broken.

I am a Pig main so I understand how the game works. As I have said before, if the survivor isn't abusing Boil Over, I accept the loss. Hell, half the time I get a 3K and then close the hatch and nod at them as they open the door (then I slug them and let them crawl out. I still make them 'suffer' haha) but leaving someone slugged because I got rid of all the hooks... Just because it's allowed doesn't mean it's fun gameplay, and now more than ever, I try to not do anything that I would be annoyed if it was done to me.

I need to know… what do you consider to be “abusing Boil Over?” Do you mean running for barren zones or up stairs? Because imo that’s the only way you’re going to even get value outta that perk. Without extra carrying time or the possible bonus progression from falling the perk doesn’t do anything good enough to let you wiggle free. The extra struggle effects only help if there’s collision and even then it’s easy to work around.

  • Myers is useless in endgame? That’s when I’m able to get the most out of him.

Without using an offering you get 1500(as survivor) by default when finishing a generator. If you use the offering, it doubles up to 3k when you finish a gen, it's personal and does not affect others. So best case scenario is that you finish all generators by yourself and get 15k. What's likely gonna happen is you finish 1 or 2 gens and get 3-6k event bloodpoints.

But that isn’t stacking…? If you already get a bonus for just repairing/hooking and the offering gives a bonus on top of that it’s exactly that: a bonus… in order for the offering go stack it would have to do so with other offering bonuses.

No, if you don't use one then you only get 1500 for finishing a gen (haven't tried killer yet, but I assume 750, like anniversary). The bonus is personal.

    Then how does it stack?

I'm guessing that's HOW they knew it was a hook deadzone. I've been in this situation before where it was impossible to get a survivor to a hook who just kept running back to the starting line. I find it kinda its hypocritical for the same person saying "the killer should've just let me escape" couldn't just LET the killer get the hook either. That ALSO wouldve prevented a waste of time. When you decide to bleed out in a hook deadzone rather than crawl to a hook, it shows the time needed to bleedout WASNT what got them upset, but rather that they lost

Thats just me, bro. You do you. I’d rather let someone escape versus bleed out. There are times as survivor I don’t wiggle out either because I know it’s just the back and forth and I’d rather just let them have the kill. Not everyone plays that way.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3502503#Comment_3502503

This wasn't even a 4k. The other gate is open and someone already escaped. Killer just preferred a 3k over a 2k after finding and downing someone.

Guess I don’t care that much to do that. Would rather try to get the hook and if it fails it fails.

  • Do the bbq invitations extend their bonus to all players? It says “stacks” but doesn’t say “all players.”

  • No one should be an a-hole to anyone regardless of what side they play or how bad/well someone played.

  • I’m surprised they haven’t done more promoting for it since, from what I’ve heard, the first one was very well received.

  • I always try to do my best no matter what the situation but there are times I just lose my will. Many reasons for this:

Terrible teammates… not necessarily “bad” at the game but just trolling, being selfish, making bad plays knowing they’re bad plays.

Terrible killers… tunneling early on, leaving everyone to bleed out, face camping

When this goes on game after game you get so fed up and making a mistake on your end feels so much worse… often you just want one regular game but queue up for the same bs.

  • No way I’m running Calm Spirit in the chance that I MIGHT get Doctor or Cenobite. I’m not that crazy.

Just standing there watching you bleed out at the door for the entire bleed out timer because he already used all the hooks near it? No, I have never done that (except for Boil Over abuse, I hate that perk and never use it.) In fact, while i do not agree it should be allowed, it's the reason many players want a "die" option for when they are left to bleed out.

It's not against the rules, and a killer is allowed to play however they want, I even said ggwp to him in the end game chat, as it's my vibe to be positive no matter what, however that doesn't mean that there isn't certain things I don't agree with and will call out (which is the main reason I use streamer mode even though I am not a streamer. I like my screenshots to hide names.) because it's also my policy to not do anything as killer that would make me angry as a survivor.

Don't even remember that killers' name and won't tell anyone even if I did.

BUT all that said, let me reiterate that the killer AND survivors are free to do whatever they find fun. That doesn't mean the other side will find it fun. So you have to make that personal decision on how much everyone having fun matters to you, and play your games accordingly.

I mean… the Ghost Face could’ve just let you wiggle free and escape? When I play killer I would much rather do that then let you bleed out for 2 minutes… I guess the 4k isn’t that important to me to want to do something that low.

Isn’t it also a bit unfair for someone to say GF was justified in slugging because there weren’t any hooks available? I’ve had many people complain about using perks like Boil Over, Blast Mine, etc. but they’re in place to give the survivor an advantage. Is it not an advantage to just slug someone because you can’t make it to the next hook?

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

Yeah, even if you do exactly what is prescribed to counter it, you're still largely at the mercy of RNG. If the Onryo is aggressively trying to condemn your team and you all don't find tapes immediately (which can be hard if you all spawn together), you're in trouble.

I'm an Onryo player who never really tried using condemnation as my main tactic, but after being on the receiving end of a few of those matches, I decided to try a few to see if it was in fact that easy (spoiler alert - it was that easy, even when the survs did exactly what they should have done).

I expect some changes. I wanted Onryo to be buffed, but not like this.

I agree. I always did well with her before and thought the complaints weren’t entirely justified. While I was never opposed to buffs I think they overdid it.

The only reason survivors 99% the gate is to avoid blood warden. 99% the gates has probably resulted in more survivor deaths than it's prevented.

Where are you getting the idea that the EGC was put in place to help killers? It wasn't. It was put there to prevent hatch standoffs which would last as long as both players decided to stay. It was supposed to be a neutral mechanic. The devs have said multiple times that EGC is not in place to help killers and it's only function is to force the game to end so neither side can hold the other hostage. Going off what they said they intend for EGC, it should be as neutral as possible for both sides.

Completing gens is not the survivor's objective. Their objective is to escape so giving them a free escape for finishing gens is a ridiculous suggestion, but you're just trying to make an asinine argument.

Yes, and what happens when the game forcefully ends? All remaining survivors are killed and it counts as a sacrifice. That favors the killer. They could’ve made it so that the game forcefully ends and everyone escapes similar to when a killer disconnects but they didn’t. EGC was put in place to HELP killers because any kind of stand off or scenario in which the survivors aren’t leaving is going to BENEFIT them.

Having the entity sacrifice all the remaining survivors isn’t the killer’s objective. So why do they get those free kills if the survivors don’t escape? Don’t throw stones, bro, because your entire point is asinine.

The rework would be fairly easy.

Make EGC start as soon as the last GENERATOR is powered.

99'ing gates that can't even be "regressed" just to have infinite time to go for a save / Multi hook trade to attempt a 4 man out is quite honestly, not balanced , made even more obnoxious when survs have Hope + MFT to make catching them in endgame absolutely impossible.

How about we just end the game once the last gen is completed? The EGC was created to favor killers but if it’s not enough for you we can flip it and favor the survivors instead. They did, after all, complete their objectives.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3501315#Comment_3501315

Opening the gate relieves pressure on the survivors. The killer does the last part of their objective for them and there's nothing to prevent them from walking out. Plus the killer has to abandon their own objective tondo so. The fact that killers can only start EGC that way is ridiculous.

Maybe the whole EGC system needs to be reworked.

If the killer just goes and opens the gate when no one is injured or such, sure. But if I have just put someone on basement hook I can open the gate to encourage the others to leave them to die. That’s called pressure. Depending on the current situation opening a gate can be tactical. There’s a reason survivors 99 the exit gates after all.

  • @TheSubstitute said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3500929#Comment_3500929

It would happen less. Saying teabagging is tactical is both disingenuous and stupid as it only works on brand new Killers. It's griefing as is slugging for no reason. It is completely possible for two actions to both be wrong.

I even said it shouldn’t be tactical but you can’t deny that it can be. On a side note, had a Ghost Face teabag at me while I was on death hook. I don’t remember teabagging him first so I guess your entire theory falls apart.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

Having the tape be destroyed was intended, otherwise you could just smack someone twice and give them four stacks. To my knowledge this does not turn off a TV; it just leaves you with two more condemned stacks and no tape.

The downside (from the surv perspective) is that this means the Onryo can deprive you of your tape and then immediately start applying condemned to you by TPing.

No TVs ever permanently turn off, but they never did. The ones that do have a much shorter cooldown (45s, down from 100s), though.

Basically, if an Onryo wants to condemn everyone, they'll most often run the iri tape (which limits you to being able to return a tape to one particular TV) and Mother's Comb (which creates a loud noise notification whenever a tape is taken). The allows them to find you, hit you (adding two stacks and removing your tape), and then immediately start TP'ing (often to another surv who has taken a tape), applying condemned the entire time.

It's not hard to execute, and can be absolutely devastating if you don't find a tape immediately (and often even if you do). If the player is any good at all (even just decent) and is out to condemn everyone, you'll spend the match running around trying to find tapes and getting very little else done.

If you are playing as the Onryo and want to get easy wins, that's how you do it. If the team isn't coordinated, they're gonna have a bad time, and unlike the old method where you had to slug and rely on survs to spread stacks by healing, you can just snowball condemned on everyone, and you can do it quickly.

Playing that way is not very nice, though, and will not earn you any friends.

I don’t play that way no matter what killer I’m using. My first match against her today was exactly what you described: we got two gens done but after that condemned was spreading so quickly we had to constantly stop for tapes and she moried all three of my teammates. Second match I was able to grab a tape right away but my mates weren’t as lucky. Strangely enough both times I managed to get hatch which has happened for me all of maybe three times in the past few months.

  • @Seraphor said:

That was a change from PTB to live, so that holding a tape is more risky. You don't want to be hit while carrying a tape.

When a tape is destroyed that survivor gets 2 stacks of condemned, no effect on other TVs, but of course they no longer have a tape in their possession so they will now need to find two TVs to remove those stacks.

Thank you. I definitely think they overbuffed her lol not that we haven’t seen those discussions already. I think they should make it so when a tape is destroyed the tv it came from is put on a longer cooldown. That could help the spam teleporting.

  • You don’t have to let them crawl/bleed out.

  • No, thank you.

  • The mobile version shouldn’t be getting anything the base game isn’t. If they cared about money they would fix this asap.

  • I mean… you guys need to cut BHVR a break here. We got two killers that everyone complained about because their powers of area control made 3-genning easy and unfun to play against.. then Singularity came out and while he had a very strong power that still offered plenty of counterplay people… complained. Now we went from two killers who are too strong to one not strong enough. Even then I’ve seen ppl complain that Knight is too weak or Singularity too strong.

Do I think the devs can do better overall? Yes. They need some constructive criticism because some killers shouldn’t be like Skull Merchant but just assuming that everything they do will be crap isn’t fair. They’ve put out a lot of good stuff over the years. When it comes to licensed characters most of them are some of the most beloved in this game…

Shape may not have the same advantages of others but he’s true to his source material and by no means is he weak. He’s still a top pick for most people. Pig is a character I see a lot of ppl complain isn’t too strong, but she’s still a great threat and a very popular killer among fans of this game. Cenobite is, imo, a little too strong given his ability to initiate the chain hunt himself and Ghost Face is probably the most popular of all the licensed characters - the reveal mechanic is necessary to counter his power otherwise everyone would be exposed constantly. Executioner, Nemesis, and Mastermind all come from fellow beloved game franchises and they are all very popular here. None of them suffer from any true weakness except maybe PH feels a bit clunky to play but Wesker is currently the most picked killer in the game.

Give credit where credit is due.

  • I don’t have Cage, but does Dramaturgy guarantee two add-ons? If so, map and key wouldn’t be completely useless depending.

That double standard is exactly what I have a problem with. It shouldn't help either side, and 99% of the time survivors are in charge of when EGC starts unless the killer abandons their objective to go complete the last part of the survivor's objective for them which allows them to freely walk out of the exit gate.

They can make the time a little longer for all I care. Personally I think the timer should be at least twice as long as it is now but start as soon as the final generator pops. Obviously exit gate perks would need to be tweaked. I just don't believe either side should be able to mess with EGC.

Like I said, as it is now survivors both control when EGC starts in 99% of cases and they get to slow the timer down to help them escape. It just needs to be completely neutral. Nothing more than a mechanic to end the game.

The ENTIRE reason the EGC was implemented was to favor the killer side. It meant survivors couldn’t just hang around and hold the game hostage… in doing so it also presents a looming threat for survivors who are still present. It is entirely fair then to have mechanics in place that slow it down so that survivors aren’t forced to just beeline for the exit. Killers can, after all, open a gate to exert pressure. There is no double standard here. All you are wanting to do is take something that was designed to help the killer and make it even stronger for them by removing any counterplay. That’s not healthy for this game.

  • I hope it’s exactly like Hawkins because I hate that it was taken away and now they can bring it back in a way.

  • Lethal Pursuer is a great perk, but unless you’re running other aura reading perks you only get value out of it once. I’d say it’s pretty balanced as is. It definitely shouldn’t be basekit though. You get to see the auras of every gen, the exit gates, and see scratch marks where survivors were running… that’s more than enough.

  • Meh… I love Alien and while I am glad it’s coming I just can’t be as excited as I want to be since we just had a similar chapter. Would have made more sense to do Alien for the anniversary imo.

  • I get bodyblocked by Wraiths all the time so…
