This. They need to remove the timer, and make it deactivate solely based on doing any progressive interaction that other than being chased by the killer/vaulting/pallets/etc.
Also not opposed to it being active after both hooks, because again, as long as you aren't progressing the objectives, I see no harm in it being active if the killer decides to come after you repeatedly.
I agree with this, actually.
Hell, if they all want to waste half the match baiting DS, be my guest. You'll only screw your team by doing so.

That's exactly what I think is going to happen once the change kicks in.
People will be so protective of their DS that they'll just do nothing for 60 seconds until it runs out because they must use it.
And thank #########.
This will slow down gen times massively and give Killers a chance to BREATHE and enjoy some meme builds for once without having to sweat their ass off.
-
I think the purpose of DS is to prevent YOU from progressing the game, not others.
BEING healed is okay. Healing OTHERS is not.

@CharlieChatBox said:
As mentioned above, credit where credit is due on both of these changes. Would like to say that having DS deactivate from healing does, as others have mentioned, lead to concerns about other Survivors being able to disable your perk, as well as the fact that much of the Killer cast have instant downs or methods to gain exposed easily. Same goes for other Altruistic actions, like unhooking. There has been a consistent design choice in killer powers where unhooking is not disabled, even if healing is, which makes me question why the unhooking disables the perk in this situation. Additionally, unsure why opening Exit Gates does not disable the perk, and while it is consistent with Madness and Incapacitated, it does still make it so the Survivor can get grabbed off of the Gate, DS, open the gate, and still escape, even if you were not tunneling for the first 50 seconds after their unhook, but have no other choice than defend the gates at that point of the match.
On the Object of Obsession change, it does raise a few issues as well, since it is still free surveillance on killers like Trapper who already were heavily impacted by the perk, requires no input or action from the Survivor in order to benefit from it, and effectively nullifies mindgames at larger loops like jungle gyms, since both sides have accurate information on one another.
In short, good start, let DS have heals and unhooks but take away exit gates, and OoO probably needs another 20 minutes in the oven.
DS is being changed so that any active game progression deactivates it.
So now Bunny Fengs can no longer do a generator in your face and still punish you for defending it.

I think it's a perfect change for this perk, I would actually use it!
This is actually... Very interesting.
I actually like this perk quite a lot, now.
It isn't stupidly oppressive in a SWF, and actually serves as a bit of a soft-counter to BBQ.
If the Devs go through with this change and the DS change, I'm pretty sure 90% of Killers will be quite happy with BHVR.

You know what, this is actually an A+ change.
Coming from a Killer Main, I am incredibly pleased with this DS change.

Not a kids game but its primary playerbase is children.
This is true, but even still, the market who actually PLAYS the game has nothing to do with their intended audience.

Unfortunately, yes, this is normal.

I really hope that they buff pop to 50% of a gen for every hook for a week, and see how the survivor community feels about a perk like ds used against them. When they complain, just say "it's not slowdown, it's ANTI-MOMENTUM!!!"
Lol. That would be pretty funny, not gonna lie.
-
I've always said this sort of thing would be great for DS.
But as the Devs have said, DS is not an anti-tunnel perk.
It's an anti-MOMENTUM perk.

There was a petition going on that 60k people signed supporting FNaF x DBD. 60k sounds a bit far from "no one" to me.
The fact that threads about FNaF x DBD keep showing up in these forums (to the point of being obnoxious) is also proof that there are, in fact, people who want FNaF x DBD.
"FNaF doesn't belong in DBD" too bad some of the devs think differently, given how a couple of them have shown their interest in adding a FNaF killer to the game.
Last but not least, if you don't like the idea you can simply ignore it. No need to be a douche.
Preach, my brothers-in-arms.
Anti-douchebaggery ftw.
Like, as much as I enjoy the lore behind FNaF, I honestly don't mind one way or another if ol' Springy makes it.
That being said, the only reason I even bothered to post here is to put a stopgap in the blatant rudeness going on here.

A lot more people dislike Fnaf than like. You can like your kid game, no one is saying you can't. Just get it out of these forums, it's non-stop spam every day about this stupid character and Fnaf doesn't belong in this game at all.
Are you going to be asking for Fortnite dances next?
Alright, guy, first of all, FNaF is NOT a kid's game.
Especially given the blatant child murder going on in the plot of the games.
Second of all, while yes, FNaF spam is obnoxious as hell by now, there's no need to be a toxic doichebag about it.
Ignore it if you don't like it. Simple as that.
-
That there is what I call one Slingy Boi.
-
Here's my 3 and 1/4 cents on the matter:
As a Killer Main, I actually empathize with Solo Survivors quite a lot.
Tunnelcamping sucks, period. It just does.
Sometimes it's unintentional, and there's just nothing you can do about it.
But on the whole, I feel like Solo needs a buff to SWF level, and then we can buff Killers across the board to match that new level.
The fact that they didn't even consider this still baffles me to this day.
-
I always see these every so often, and it's surprisigly memey. Everyone knows the game is moot when 2 Killers just roflstomp, so the alternative is to meme around and be idiots.
And that is pretty fun.

Yeah that's true.
They raise Blight's fov and Dwight will have Kate's voice, the killer shack no longer spawns a pallet, and Spirit's addons stop working.

At this point, I fully believe that could happen.

So this game is where Hanzo ended up!
Ironically Hanzo hasn't been "Simple Geometry" for years now since his rework. There is no geometry involved with Storm Arrow. Simple Geometry is now Sigma's catchline (except that isn't).
Yeah, I know.
But hey, just goes to show you when I played Overwatch.
Spoiler: When it was good and not just a DPS race.
-
I gotta say, giving Demo, who gives global audio cues, the ability to force skill checks would actually be an interesting mechanic, albeit a slightly busted one on both ends of the situation.
Good Survivors will have no problem when they hear the shriek go off, and noobs will get utterly stomped by it.
-
@6yXJI0 said:
Blight is a little weak without his Flick exploit. He is very map depended. You will suffer on Corn, Swamps, Badham, Lerys and many more. Bad collision will make you slide when you want to bump and vise versa. And his fov is terrible. You can't see behind small objects, rocks, trash, so its harder to break loops as him. It feels like he's having eyes on his crotch.
Uh... Not to burst your bubble or anything, but as a Blight Main myself, I find basically every indoor map to be a super huge advantage.
I look at just about every wall and turn into Hanzo from Overwatch:
"Simple geometry."

I play both sides, and both sides are easy. If players try to annoy me, whatever. If they win, whatever, I can easily accept that and dont run to the Forums and complain about something which happened in that one game that I lost, after winning the 5 games before and the 5 games after that game.
If you are thinking that you are doing anything special when playing Killer or that it is very skillful in general, you are wrong.
But I dont think a discussion makes sense, since I wont change my mind. I dont think that either side is hard to play, there are games which require far more skill than DBD.
Don't get me wrong, losing is fine and all, but when people go out of their way to bully you in this game, it tends to suck a lot. This more than anything else is what grinds my gears.
People who say Killer is easy are just downright wrong, as sucky as it is to say. Competent and skilled Survivors will absolutely smoke you if you don't sweat your ass off.

Maybe I am just better than you, if you really have to suffer while playing Killer? DBD is an easy game in general, there is nothing hard about it.
Perhaps on the Survivor side, it may be simple and easy.
For Killers, DBD is an entirely different game.
It's stressful, chaotic, and more often than not, you get players who constantly try to just piss you off by doing dumb, stupid things.
To say that Killers have no suffrage to pay is just blatantly wrong.

The Bus is fine. Not every strong Loop needs to be nerfed into Oblivion. Its not like playing Killer is hard in general, if there are some strong Loops it is ok. Even with the good window the Bus is not as strong as the Loops which were in the game before (or are still in the game on the Live Version (Disturbed Ward)).
Let alone that burning an Autohaven-Offering does not really guarantee a pretty survivor-sided Map, especially with all those Deadzones added to them.
This comment made me laugh openly at work.
"It's not like playing Killer is hard in general".
#########, please. If you're saying that, clearly you have yet to see what true suffering is in this game.

Thing is theres no excuse for how long its taking, with the bug we got in I believe patch 4.3.0, where all killers started off looking like the killers pov you could see his legs go into the ground, about ankle level. all they have to do is push him up and problem solved
You'd think, but as I've said twice in recent days, apparently BHVR has more spaghetti than just in the code itself.
-
@blue4zion said:

This.
From the time that killers were bugged while the match starts and we could see how they set up the blight for first person, he is legs are like halfway through the ground. Lift him up.
You would think this would be the case, but like I said, BHVR apparently has spaghetti code in more than just game mechanics, given how they keep screwing unrelated stuff up every update.
Like how Legion recently got entirely ######### by not having a speed boost in Feral Frenzy for no logical reason whatsoever.
-
I can't tell if this is bait, a meme, or legitimate...
Or maybe it's all 3.

The hands are part of the camera itself, if the camera is low, so are the hands, and im pretty sure the devs confirmed that this was a bug
This is correct.
They began work on Blight probably a year in advance, and with stuff actively under production, they don't have all the resources they used to in order to redo his animations.
They have to MANUALLY move his animations upward to align to the camera, for whatever reason. My friend, who is a modeling nerd, says that it SHOULD be as simple as just moving the model up with the camera, but apparently, BHVR has spaghetti in more than just the code.
-
I feel like the intent of his low camera originally was to make it so you didn't Slam something you couldn't see beforehand, but they failed to realize how troublesome a low camera actually is for seeing things, so now they have to backpedal to restore his functionality.
Also, this is being worked on, but they have to redo the animations from square one, so give them some time.
-
I'd rework the entire Obsession mechanic to make it so that Survivor Obsession perks give potent debuffs while they are the Obsession, and Killer Obsession perks encourage them to leave the Obsession alone.
And OoO would be reworked to work like an aura-based Spine Chill instead of what it is now. Both parties would see each others' auras when the KILLER looks at the Obsession, but reduce the distance limit to 6 meters to leave it somewhat potent for the Survivor to potentially use somehow.
-
I actually had that exact example you mentioned.
"What if Slingy drags you over hatch? Can you jump in?"
Context: Hatch spawned on a hill, and Bunny Feng ran up to get it, I shot her over the ledge, and dragged her over the hatch.
She did not live long enough to watch me close it.
Edit: Spelling.
-
I've already remarked about this elsewhere, but an idea I had revolved around changing Obsession perks on the whole.
Survivor-based Obsession perks would cause serious debuffs while you are the Obsession, making you an easy target or not actively useful to your team, while Killer perks would reward the Killer for leaving you be.
-
Generally, most of us in the higher ranks would love to be more fun and spontaneous, but with the design of the game, and the community trying literally everything to rush gens as fast as physically possible 95% of the time, we rarely get the opportunity to goof off and have some legitimate fun.
-
Question: You reference something called the "Mangled Bell", yet as a former Wraith main, I can confirn this is not a thing.
Correction?
-
I had made a post a few days ago about this exact topic.
It basically went that Survivor Obsession perks should give a major downside of some sort, while Killer obsession perks encourage them to not go after the Obsession.
-
As a generalrule, the hatch will always spawn in a way that enables it to have solid ground underneath, except in the incredibly rare instance it spawns above the Basement.
-
@HollowsGrief said:
There needs to be a downside to being the obsession, currently it is only a good thing (most killer perks want you to IGNORE the obsession, you also get a ton of extra survival BPs even if you die!)
Exactly! That's why I pitched this idea, so that there IS a downside to choosing an Obsession perk for both sides, not just Killer.
-
@GhostMaceNotCrusty said:
Yeah I kinda agree, unless I'm running pwyf or stbfl, I'm just like "huh, theres an obsession, cool" and go on with my day
That's generally how it is, yeah.
-
Blight's PoV fix is in the works as we speak.
It's actually gonna be ready Soontm, but no ETA just yet.
The big issue is that they have to redo all the first-person animations, but move them up a bit to match the new camera height.

Eh, and i'd add a few addendums to that.
-Don't genrush, then complain about short games.
-Don't butt dance, then complain about the killers head moving in any direction ever.
-Don't clicky, then complain I tunneled you. You asked for my attention, don't throw a fit because you got it.
-Don't act like DS is some big brain high skill move or that using it makes you a victim. You got unhooked and decided thinking was to hard and ran while watching tik tok on your phone.
I mean, that works. I was just giving the short and sweet version of the Killer's Rule-Pamphlet for Survivors.

Do killers have one?
Yes and no.
Our book, insofar as I've learned, consists of like, 3 or 4 things.
-Don't genrush.
-Don't butt-dance.
-Don't clicky.
-Don't DS when we aren't tunnelling you.
-
So, from what I know, Blught's PoV WAS intended initially, but then everyone was like: "Okay, we get that being low helps see things we're about to Rush into, but why the ######### is it THIS low?!".
As a result, they went: "Okay, this might be a bit much. We'll get on that, guys!", and now they're working out his animations for the first-person model, since they have to try and get everything exactly right.
-
Personally, I run what feels good to run for me.
I've been playing around with Slinger myself, and I find him fun.
I don't hate Survivors for running Unbreakabill's Spine-Chilling DS Hard train, no matter how obnoxious it may be.
Do I get salty? Sometimes, but I'm like the Sniper from TF2.
Be polite. Be efficient. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
-
Okay, I've been running Franklin's Slinger lately, and I gotta say, it's surprising how effective this strategy actually is.
I don't run Franklin's to drop items or drain charges. I bring it to waste time.
The number of people who will stop what they're doing when they see their precious clicky fall to the floor and pick it back up while I'm standing right there is astounding. They could have used that time to run, recoup, and get it back when I'm off chasing someone else, but no. They get hit, drop it IMMEDIATELY, wasting more charges, and give me a nice and easy hook.l, because Slinger guts chases in close to mid-range.
-
As a Blight main myself, I find great value in his Power.
The flexibility Rushing truly gives when you go from Oni directly to him is astounding.
It's like having Demon Rush into an M1 at almost all times.
-
You see, this is one of the few times where camping becomes a good option for you. You guarantee a 1k unless the Survivors get real altruistic with 2 people and you aren't running STBFL, and you get an easy hook on someone else.
I don't normally condone camping, but if that second Survivor is gonna just sit there where I can't reach him, you bet your ass I'm roasting marshmallows.

They need to stick with either one style, or the other.
Or better yet, use the adept survivor icons for the UI. Thay way it keeps the flat art style, while also saying which survivor is which.
I agree with the Survivor art, like from the Adept icons, raher than their portaits.
White character face icon for Healthy, red face icon for Injured, and the Downed icon for Downed.
Makes things real simple and consistent.
-
Hey, man, I've had much more luck with Thrill than Undying.
Auras don't do jack when you don't see the Survivor for 10 seconds because you're so focused on this one jackhole, and you're using Devour Hope, not Ruin.

Did maybe you hear it being worked on and think that was it being destroyed; and then hear it later when it was destroyed and think that was devours? It's also possible one got broken at the same time as another noise notification and the overlap made you mishear it.
I dunno really, it's possible it was bugged or something happened or you just missed it; I am merely firing off possibilities cause I can't do much more than that haha.
I got no noise noification.
Normally, when it goes off, it sounds like a generator exploding notification or a vault notification. Instead, I just got the boom as it went down. If I had heard it, I would have stopped my chase to prevent the cleansing.
