NOTHING will be done, but at least let's clarify this once and for all

I really don't see looping as being a big deal really. It's absolutely not an exploit, it's just maximizing what you can get out of your resources, and it's why the number of pallets and placement of windows has been changed a lot over the last year. It's the only real defense survivors have and a lot of killers have their own tools against it.
This doesn't absolutely address my post, looping allows a 1/4 to equal the WHOLE opposing team, which is obviously unbalanced.
I suggest to real the whole post

Looping takes more skill than you think also you need to learn when to drop chase as killer.
Looping is an exploit, and it doesn't take that amount of skill that you are lying to yourself in the effort of believing it.
Smaller hit boxes, terrible map design, that's it.
If you study 5 oh tofu videos you will learn how to loop decently enough to waste two gens of the killer's time.
I started to watch tofu prior to the blood hunt, and started to play survivor consistently at the blood hunt because killer was too slow. I am currently a rank 6 survivor and I can waste a lot of a killer's time just with 15 days of practice.
This isn't about skill this is about how wrong is the balance of dbd.
1/4 cannot and must not equal 1, this is the real problem and the source of all unbalance of dbd.
Learn what asymmetric is
As for your final remark about abandoning a chase, you are simply digging your own hole because you are admitting that there are areas where 1/4 of a team of 4 is SUPERIOR to the 1 person of the team of 1.
How is that balanced?
It is a total madness that you are forced to drop a chase because you are losing a chase vs 1 person of the numbers role.
The game needs to be balanced in the sense of 1 person (power role) must be equivalent of 4/4 of the number role.
This doesn’t happen in DBD due to looping and this is the nail in the coffin about looping which is the biggest unbalance I have ever seen in a game.
Nobody is capable to deny what I am saying here because it is the truth
-
But on console you get less discounts through the year, at the time of writing this DBD deluxe on ps4 is 30 £ (35 US $ give or take) and I cannot even remember the last time dbd was on sale.
On steam you have often discounts, nevertheless I agree with you with those chapter being made available in the basic version as well

wow i never looked at it that way. u are right all the recent killers have been focusing on pallets.
(except ghost face, but even with him i can tunnel easily which others are harder)
Yes Gf is an exception, and I think he is an exception because he's a licensed character.
Still compare Gf and pig, Gf has one shot potential to the Nd chases faster, is fast to crouch and can hide the red stain in a chase. If used correctly it can still help you in a chase

@ArecBalrin said:
Looping was as someone has already mentioned, an exploit which instead of being fixed was made a core gameplay feature, because there is a double-standard applied when weighing feedback based on whether it comes from survivors or killers.
It's also how pallets became major facilitators for looping, when they were originally meant to give survivors space to hide and escape the chase, not indefinitely stall the killer until the gates are powered.
You can't blame a person for using whatever the game gives them to win. It's up to the devs to make sure that the game overall is fair and fun for everybody. However, survivors are not bystanders when it comes to pallets and looping, among other things: they have actively lobbied for one particular playstyle which they have refused to allow to be changed for 3 years now.
Every time something happens that would affect that playstyle, something else is introduced or changed to replace it in effect.
You are exactly right, pallets were designed ONLY to buy the survivors some time BUT then they started to exploit them and looping became meta.
No matter how survivors slice it, no one has ever been able to explain why a survivor 1/4 of a 4 people team should feel entitled to be able to verse the killer (single element of the other team) in 1 vs 1.
They cannot answer to this dilemma because this unmasks, once and for all, the great scam on killers that looping is, and the main source of unbalance in DBD.
Look how desperate the Devs are when making killers and perks:
clown: made to stop looping and brought bamboozle, made to block infinites
Spirit: so you can counter looping very well and brought spirit fury to combine with enduring so you can get a hit
Legion: originally designed to be unloopable since he could move as a survivor and subsequently nerfed to the ground and sacrificed to the alter of the god survivor
Plague: originally designed to destroy loops with corrupt purge, and subsequently destroyed by the no heal strategy which literally strips her of her best power.
Looping is the demise and the desperation of the dev team and they are DESPERATELY trying to address it BUT it is too late.
This beast had to be slain once it was born, now it is too late

@DBDbuildsYT I'm not asking for much but I shouldn't be at the mercy of 30 pallets on a large scale map that is created so a pallet or 2 are always 10 steps away. That's just ludicrous. What skill is that?
According to survivors exploiting smaller hit boxes to pursue a more optimal route to nullify the killer's speed equals skill haha chasing people from pallet to pallet with gens popping left and right is so frustrating
-
@AStupidMonkeyy said:
@DBDbuildsYT I don't mind looping but if they make a mistake, they shouldn't be rewarded with 2 more pallets 10 steps away to fix that mistake. That's what tilts me. Less pallets in a map, reduce the map size to medium only and make more unsafe pallets and shorter loops. The amount of pallets should force you to use window loops to not use them all up too quickly instead of just going to a pallet every 10 steps and going around twice for 15 seconds and throwing it down, knowing there are 29 more to go in the map. That just doesn't make any sense at all.
Yes that's also an option and one that is probably more feasible than mine :)
-
@AStupidMonkeyy said:
@DBDbuildsYT I don't like tunneling. I shouldn't have to just to stand a chance against an optimized group. It's a shame. Doing different chases is just suicide at high ranks. If survivors just do gens, you lose. Taking 1 person out, whether it "hurts" their experience or not, is the most effective way to win as killer at high rank.
Yes because survivors are way stronger than killers due to looping.
You are left in a situation where you MUST take one out because otherwise you'll lose and even if you are tunnelling if you can't end a chase fast you will still lose.
Looping and gen rushing aren't fun for killers, while camping and tunnelling aren't fun for survivors.
The game must change to remove looping, gen rushing, camping and tunnelling so we can all have fun

@Yamaoka That wasn't the game. Also, ruin was active the entire time. Without that, it would have been over much sooner. My point of the video was, you can't stop everything. If survivors aren't greedy and they just do the gens, it's over in 3 minutes and 20 seconds without ruin. You could end the match quickly and it happens a lot at Rank 1. You're just screwed without any real way to stop it. The previous match had me tilted. The fact that it is even POSSIBLE to end a match that quickly is just stupid. If you don't tunnel, you lose. That was my point. That was without toolboxes or perks that benefit it.
I feel you and as I always say until looping is addressed severely we shall be trapped in this situation.
We need to be able to end chases fast, get survivors out of gens being chased and forcing them to do saves.
Until we address this problem everything else is just a bandaid

On my spirit I am running a lot a gen protector build with ruin, pgtw, overcharge and bbq.
It works pretty well

They are strategies that you can use and help you win the game. What is not fair is face camp, mori spam.
Yes if you want to win they certainly work, although I'd rather have a fun match for everybody than win.
I could condone those actions when facing toxic survivors, then it's all fair
-
Define fair
-
I played WoW for years and it isn't comparable to DBD, the amount of hatred and disrespect between killers and survivors, the amount of mean behaviours just to be mean is absolutely disgusting in dbd. What the hell is wrong with people to bring mori, camp and tunnel or gen rush during an event , an occasion to celebrate? it's pure madness.
With that said, your solution would be ok for me, not ideal but ok.
As long as we address the single most important problem of DBD which is the disparity of power between a killer and a single survivor due to looping I can accept that.
I would do it my way because looping was never intended to be part of the game, the game was designed with lots of pallets for survivors to try and reach the next pallet in a desperate run against time.
It was never meant to fell safe, it was never meant to have survivors exploiting their smaller hitboxes to counter the killer's higher speed.
And you can see the desperation of the devs regarding looping: They reworked some parts of the maps, they added entity vault blocks, they added bloodlust, they made killers SPECIFICALLY designed to desperately stop looping.
Clown, spirit, legion and plague were all designed with the specific goal of stopping looping, they even added perks against looping because everyone but the Loopy Loopers realise how much of a problem looping is in DBD.
If all chases are shorter, less than a minute let's say but you cannot die on the first hook and you have a tunnelling limited immunity, the games will not be shorter than now.
I have a match on my channel at rank 10 which ends in 3.35 minutes... how is that ok? one survivors looped the killer and we all just did gens.
And we can adjust the length of the gens, add second objectives, there are plenty of things that can be done, but the priority is to try and give everybody a good time while playing dbd.
With that said, it is way more possible that things will go the direction that you are envisioning because what I would like would create a massive dung storm which I don't think bhvr is ready to take.
One thing for certain is that, they will be SO careful in their next games to avoid the equivalent of looping and if it does happen I am fully sure they will kill it right away, in a similar way the killed mom before it became too much of an issue

No matter what the devs say the long waiting time before starting a lobby as a killer started before the blood hunt or Gf, around a week before, this was concomitant with the reappearance of the broken matchmaking and the return of the 3 man lobbies.

With all due respect people would leave because of this, many people including on survivor and killer side. Remove looping? How would you even do such a thing? It would be bad for the game because many people play the game for a chase aspect what you can do though is make looping less of a problem for killers by reworking maps and making less safe pallets that's the route that seems fair. The removal of tunneling would also be quite catastrophic limiting how people want to play. And the removal of all "OP addons" many people wouldn't like that either. Removing looping would change the balance of the game in such a way where people would call killers OP and every killer would most likely become m1 simulator then the game would die off.
You are making many assumptions based on your opinion not actual facts, maybe the game without looping and all the toxic stuff I mentioned would be much bigger.
The DBD community is notoriously known for being toxic and not everybody is comfortable with being bullied.
What other video game can you think of where pvp could be as stressful as playing killer in dbd? I don't know any and I game online since dial up in 2002 with Ultima online.
With that said, I also agree on the fact that looping had to be killed when it started to become a thing and now some people would be annoyed by it, at the same time survivors need to understand that in a 4 vs 1 game NOBODY can be the hero and verse the power role or the game is unbalanced.
And I know this very well since I used the have a youtube channel ONLY on bullying and killing Jason on f13 and after playing dbd I realised how toxic I was.
Also, I specified that killers will be nerfed accordingly once looping is gone, once you remove the biggest source of unbalance you can certainly improve the game.
Also I never said you won't have chases in my version of the game, you would actually have shorter chases but ALL SURVIVORS will take a ride with the killer.
More chases for everyone rather than what could happen now when 1 survivor runs the killer 3-4 gens and the other just m1 the whole match.
It is a win win for everybody but the Loopy Loopers who cannot accept their toy being taken away like it should.
Regardless though, I am sure nothing of this would happen because the company is scared to upset survivors, so dream on

But u also gotta consider how the killers have steered the game both parties have had equal input, infact i feel as if killer is currently really strong. Like killers got the pallet amount reduced, who do u think nerfed ds? Endgame definetly killer, the devs do listen to their community, sometimes to much.
But take out loops how will the game go? Youll spend longer loading for the game then playing.
But mechanics like looping is discovered by surv needing a way to survive, surv looks for anew mechanic cause the killer is so powerful and they need to find a way to counteract him, where there is action there is cause.
As is the goal of the surv is to survive.
You didn't read what we said until this point:
1 remove looping
2 you create a rule called "the entity wants blood!" which basically means you cannot die on first hook (first hook camping gone)
3 you get a 60 seconds immunity to leave the area and heal after being unhooked, if you heal another survivor, unhook, work on a gen you lose the immunity(tunnelling basically gone)
4 you remove insta heals
5 you remove moris and just give the killer an option to mori on the last hook
Then you balance everything on this new ruleset and remove op stuff like omega blinks, prayers bead etc
The whole idea is to remove toxicity from the game and undo all of the damage that ochido and noob3 did to this community by promoting toxicity and BM

Make it so you can't camp on the first hook, 15 min wait then immediately camped to death because of bad luck is cruel. I've never had too much trouble with mori's or insta heals
Tbh I wouldn't oppose a survivor not dying until the second hook. First hook is just preparing for the entity, then you get sixty second immunity after unhooking to leave and heal, nothing else allowed or you lose the immunity.
With looping basically gone so many things can be addressed to grant a good time to all the five people in the trial

Camping, tunnelling or looping don't have to go they just need to be rework so they can't be abused to be game breaking or toxic.
Camping someone to death in like 90 seconds at the beginning because they were unlucky enough to start right next to the killer vs camping a hook once all gens are done.
Tunnelling the person recently off the hook when the other 3 are right there vs tunnelling someone who has opted in for an aggressive play style.
Looping a few times to find the perfect time to drop the pallet and break away to hide vs going to a place where you know it's physically impossible for the killer to catch and refusing to leave.
There are legit strategy to all 3 if people don't abuse the mechanic they have. Otherwise the only other option is complete removal from the game.
I would leave camping out of this because it's a losing strategy.
OK for a complete rework, I simply think every survivor should go for a chase with the killer each game, long nice games with two hooks each and no toxic bs like looping or tunnelling, insta heals or mori.
Basically undo the toxicity completely, undo the trash that ochido and noob3 brought in

I'm not a fan of looping, but the game gives no any other reliable means to defend yourself. Stealth is laughable (getting more so with every update along with some killers will adjust their graphics to make finding survivors even easier) and mind games/losing the killer need some degree of luck to work with scratchmarks/blood/ever louder grunts present.
However eliminating looping and having the slaughterfest that follows until the devs figure out how to balance killers in response, will result in a literal die off of the survivor population. They have written themselves into a corner.
Yes at this point the situation is grim.
The devs didn't contemplate running in circles when the game was made, once this became a thing they weren't quick enough to remove it and nerfed killers accordingly

Survivors do need a way to combat tunnelling and camping, but all 3 aren't being used as tools for a strategy they are being abused and should be taken out of the game or fixed so they can't be abused.
Tunneling must also go, like a 60 seconds entity immunity, which expires if you start doing another gen, unhook a survivor etc
With looping gone, tunneling must go.

Survivors can be totally blamed for looping. They lobbied the devs for it and resisted every single time it had a whiff of nerf incoming. They are not neutral bystanders who can't be blamed for using whatever the game gives them to win, they had a hand in the game being steered in that direction.
@Acromio you are so spot on about this! And you would add that both survivors and devs are aware that this an exploit but the devs are too afraid to nerf it.
But you can see how the devs are desperate about it, look how many killers they tried to create to counter looping,: huntress, Clown, spirit, plague all designed to try desperately to reduce looping.
It is such a problem in dbd that the only killers who are really strong have ways to seal with looping and have map pressure.
Think about hag, nurse, or spirit.
Survivors are responsible for this because they want to feel the hero of the story, "I'll take the aggro", it makes you feel like the protagonist of a film where you can defeat the evil enemy.
But this is unacceptable in a team based game where 1/4 of a team shoukd NEVER be able to match the single team member in a 1 vs 1.
With looking gone we could finally balance all killers and remove nonsense like omega blinks and insta saws

Looping was never intended in the game, then survivors evolved and realised you don't need to throw down a pallet right away but you can run circles before throwing it down.
It's a border line exploit of smaller hit boxes to counter the killer speed.
It is also the source of the unbalance in the game because 1/4 of the number role can occupy the power role for a long time, sometimes the whole match.
It is currently a severe issue of this game

Also, I play killer as well and though wait times are longer, they're not usually that long. Maybe during the mornings they can be 5 minutes, but during peak dbd time it's not usually that long.
No it's worse because if the match turns toxic instead of a quick lobby dodge you'll get a dc, not good at all
-
After having played him and vs him, I don't like ghostface, I find him unfunny for two reasons:
1 as a killer is wrong to give survivors the chance to remove your power, what the hell is that?
2 as a survivor he is unfunny to verse, unlimited one hit down from an m1 killer who can move 4.6 no thanks.
I don't think he should be able to one shot, but I think he would need a power to teleport and cover the map better
-
Because survivors have all the power in this game, they dced so much to get legion gutted.
If they can't loop something they will lobby to get it changed.

16k would have to be queuing survivor to find instantly a lobby as the killer. But I don't want that. I just want to wait less than 5 minutes. And it's weird how everyone says "there are more killers than survivors playing right now" but like 80% of twitch streamers are playing survivor. In my opinion it is the matchmaking what is broken and not the players playing more one side than another.
I also agree with the matchmaking being broken.
These terrible queues started (on ps4) around a week before the blood hunt and they have continued since.
What makes me certain there's an issue with matchmaking is that ranks are all over the place and the 3 man lobby bug is back

A 2nd objective (while keeping chases the same length they currently are) is supposed to give killers that bit of additional time that they currently need.
The current state of DbD is like this: A good killer vs. a team of good survivors will lose, even if he tunnels. Chases just take so long compared to how fast gens are done.
A 2nd objective would make the game more balanced while we could keep nice chases.
That's my personal preference. I know that some people don't like long chases and want to shorten them. I can only say that I'm convinced that shortening chases is not a good idea as it would take away from DbD's uniqueness and bring it closer to other existing asymmetrical horror games.
@NoShinyPony yes, that's also an option that should work you are correct.
I don't particularly like long chases hence me playing nurse and spirit mainly but as long as 1/4 cannot take an amount of time from the power role enough for the power role to basically lose, I am OK with just some basic rebalance as well
-
@NoShinyPony said:
I play DbD because of the chases. For me, that's the fun part of the game, both as survivor and killer.
Shorter chases would lessen the fun for me. I don't want to play a game that has more focus on stealth (obviously, because otherwise I would play another game).
I also think that chases are the "magic ingredient" that make DbD so successful compared to other asymmetrical horror games that were targeting the same audience as DbD.
Since I don't want shorter chases, I'd like to have a 2nd objective. Also, a 2nd objective has another big advantage compared to shorter chases: It would give a new impulse to the game.
A lot of people have been playing this game for years and would like to have a new game mechanic. It would bring veterans back to the game or make them play more often than they currently are.
Unfortunately you cannot have balance with this long chases, one survivor cannot take so much of the killer time, 1/4 of a team cannot be equivalent to the 1 power role, so the chase fun of the survivor if too long like now simply eradicates the balance and the fun of the killer.
As a killer with this change you would have more chases on different survivors also considering that with the removal of looping you also need to remove tunnelling.
As a killer you would still get plenty of chases, as a survivor you'll get chased but you would have less power than now, and this is fair. You win by teamwork not individuality

If someone is looping you, you have too decide "is the kill worth it?" because if it isn't, leave them and pressure a gen. You don't have too tunnel down one person for 5 gens.
I understand your suggestion and tbh I mainly play spirit and nurse so looping annoys me only when I play legion.
What you say is beyond my point though, you can get around the looping issue with tactics or by choosing a different killer that's true but it doesn't change the fact that in a 4 vs 1 game the 4 group should be able to win ONLY with teamwork.
Looping removes that element, and it is clearly an unplanned mechanic of the game.
1 vs 1 in an asymmetric game must ALWAYS go to the power role but this doesn't happen in dbd in many scenarios, too many areas of the various map which are extremely strong and you cannot do much about it with the weaker killers
The game wasn't designed with looping in mind, it is obvious but survivors learnt that they could use their smaller hitboxes to loop the killer to oblivion.
And this is borderline exploit because the smaller hitboxes grant the possibility of much shorter routes around objects reducing the speed advantage of the killer.
So the game will function in a better way when a single survivor, even if adept at the game, will not be able to verse the killer in 1 vs 1 but will need to rely on the team to win.
Once this is achieved killers will need to be balanced around the new play style of shorter chases.
As for the doctor, if stealth becomes more prominent he will need to be nerfed and location revealing perks would also need to be nerfed.
I doubt this will happen though, it is a monumental work and entitled survivors would lobby for this to be stopped, exactly like I tried to do in f13.
@Redd if looping is nerfed also tunnelling should be nerfed obviously something like granting an immunity for 60 seconds for the unhooked survivor, something like "the Entity wants you to hurt them all, bring me another victim" or something along those lines
