  • There are people that camp and tunnel as a playstyle from the first chase. Then there are people that when they pay against a swift 4 items + map offering adapt. If the killer I am playing can handle the map good, based on my skills, no problems, I will start ten thousand chases from 0 far from where I hooked. If my killer does not have mobility, you brought a huge map or you are exploiting a section of the map and you have the possibility to reset within 10 seconds, yes, I will tunnel the **** out of you :) and that is because I simply want to have a chance to win. Because 4 people bringing these things are using their best cards! You play hard, I play hard. If I need to camp one person because it is important for me, I will do it. I was the killer. Not an entertainer.

There is common sense. Again. But tunneling/camping/slugging is never the main reason why a team looses. And it is normal for killers with the survivors current meta to resolve to these actions in certain trials, depending on how you play as well. Because if you find me to loop me around the game you can be sure you will not have a good time, as I want to enjoy my game with the horror vibe it has. I have no intention to go around on vacation on ten thousand pallets. If you play to mess with the killer, expect that some killers don't want to play to loop. I want to be scary and keep the game vibe :)

So This entire thread is about how you're surprised that playing in an unfun way makes people unhappy?

    Okayyyyy.

I knew I was wasting my time talking to you

I haven't been having much trouble in my games.

Outside of the one Nemesis game which made me remember why I can't play Nemesis anymore.

I can offer some tips to try to help your Killer gameplay?

If you are friend of the guy up I can suggest you too a good eye doctor. This thread does not regard me as a killer or my performance. It is about people not calling on themselves when they loose and, in general, a tendency of discriminating the killer's work. I do get positive comments and eventually I get people joking at the end, but it's mostly because of something I did. Not because I did an insane performance. If you are extremely fast and efficient, the best you get is silence. Otherwise they will blame the build or the killer's power.

And the focus of the thread, one last time : if you tunnel or slug for a section, they will overtalk it and consider the main reason why they lost, and feel entitled to come and say to you whatever they want, something they really wouldn't do outside of a screen :)

Maybe you are good as a killer but you are not very good at reading. There is nothing personal.

Camping and tunneling feel hopeless because soloq does not have adequate tools to deal with them. Like you can't even see your team's perks. If I knew someone had certain perks, maybe I'd know or at least try how to play around it (say Deliverance). I like to run Distortion as survivor if I'm trying hard so as not to give away info to the killer, but distortion can be so much more if you can just communicate but in soloq you can't. For example if killer is running Lethal Persuer I try to tbag my teammates to communicate it to them, maybe they'll understand but it never works.

The game is supposed to be played as a team but here I can't play as a teammate because the game's design itself won't let me lol. Those are the frustrating parts, because you can do so much more for you team but the game limits you while if you played in a SWF you wouldn't have that problem.

That is why I think it would be appropriate to have an in game voice chat for the trial

COH is one of the most oppressive perks that a survivor can bring against a killer. A COH boon alone can allow a team to reset independently and alleviate a lot of the pressure that a killer can dish out by injuring people, not to mention it hard counters certain killers like Twins. As long as COH allows people to self-heal with no strings attached and at a very reasonable speed, it is far too strong. Not only this, but it is more time-efficient for the survivor to set up a boon over and over again than it is for a killer to kick it. The killer needs to go out of their way to 1) find the boon, 2) kick it, 3) do this for every time it gets set up. This is also a critical amount of time that a killer wastes where survivors are not actively being pressured. The only semi-counter to a boon is Shattered Hope, which will see no value if a team doesn't bring a boon, or brings one but resets it constantly throughout the match.

Medkits also suffer from the same issue but to a lesser extent, since they're limited in charges, can be seen in pre-game, and can be countered more universally along with other items with Franklin's or certain killers' powers.

COH specifically needs to have a much bigger downside to its use. Here are some ideas I came up with from least extreme to most extreme:

    • Totems that have COH active shatter when kicked by the killer.
    • Range for COH is reduced to 12m.
    • Speed of self-healing without a medkit is slowed to 30%.
    • Killer sees the aura of any active boon that has COH (either temporarily or permanently).
    • Remove ability to self-care without a medkit entirely (buff healing speed to others to make up for this).

It's beyond demoralizing for a killer to start a game, and hear the sound effect for a boon 30 seconds into it. It's unacceptable for this perk to continue to exist under its current form.

"oppressive"? Are you a killer or a survivor ahah kill everything that moves.

Jokes aside. No. It is busted but let's welcome strong perks. Rather tunnel a person out of the game if they play hard, but we cannot take away survivors of strong perks. The idea of this one is just too good :)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3255042#Comment_3255042

I don't. To me it makes perfect sense that killers will tunnel and camp because that is what the game supports and it is the most effective way to win by design.

What I dislike is that this specific strategy has no barrier to entry because it is not gated by perks OR killer powers (obviously some killers excel at camping because of their power) and not even skill (like I said even a newbie player has the ability to do this and the instinct), but to counter it you have to have co-ordination. It frankly asks a lot more on the survivor side than the killer side. If it was more skillful to do perhaps I wouldn't be as bothered since that would mean people who are good at killer can do this and people who are new or bad cannot (like dead hard and flashlights for survivors).

Now keep in mind that this is from a soloq player and not a person playing with SWF and it seems to me from the new chapter that will come out, that BHVR cares more about the game going towards a more team-oriented direction with the new survivor's perk which revolve all around gens and seems to me they are pushing the focus to gens. Now this would be well and good if soloq players had any means to communicate and co-ordinate with each other but currently they don't.

So understand why I am being rather unpleasant. You could say I've been spoiled by League of Legend's available communication even if you don't have voice-chat and seeing DBD being allergic to implementing the bare minimum (like in game chat) strikes me as weird and strange.

It feels like playing soloq you have less agency but more responsibility. Unlike equal responsibility. It's high risk low reward. Your mistakes count a lot more as a soloq survivor and on top of that you can also influence negatively your team by your mistake.

But good decisions don't always guarantee a win even if you have 8 good decision and do 2 mistakes those mistakes can cost you a lot more. So it feels even if individually you do well, you don't have carry potential unless killer is so bad.

And this is also the same way League has evolved over the years. Like back in the earlier seasons some champions could steamroll the other team by themselves, but as years have passed that power has been negated from those champions and it is easier to shut them down now.

As a survivor you can't have such a huge role because there isn't a group of perks that allows you to do so much and your resources are finite. So the more the game lasts the weaker survivors become.

Personally when I play killer and it is rare mind you, I just go for the 3k and don't sweat it and give hatch. For me 3k is a win, perhaps I'd go for 4k if I felt the last survivor didn't deserve it or to challenge myself, so I guess by that I follow the survivor's rulebook since that's probably how survivors would prefer you win as opposed to slugging for the 4k. At the same time I'm not above tunneling or proxy camping (I play Artist so you can't really use her power near a hook anyway). I don't tunnel intentionally yet but if someone unhooks and I'm close and I feel the guy who got unhooked is easier to catch than the unhooker I'll go after them. As for proxy camping I do it near end-game since usually survivors will try to go for the save and you can get a few kills that way. Like I said, I play it rarely so perhaps if I played it as often as survivor I would change my mind who knows.

I agree with everything. It is a good analysis.

The point of this post is so that people stop dramatizing over those actions. It is not a defense of said actions.

    To each their own.

But in game stuff should stay in game, not in chats. As we all play to have fun

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Yeah they do, still winning though.

Biggest issues I have with it is more my team, like how can this killer kick all these gens and still down my team in a few seconds...

Having a bad team definitely makes this perk worse and that's why it's a pain in solo Q as teammates are just random

    Exactly

  • @JakeParkSimp said:

    Title.

Everyone and their mother uses Eruption now.

It is fine otherwise but the incapacitated lasts way too long and there are no counters (other than being in a SWAT team SWF). As a solo survivor, there is no way to predict or anticipate the effect of this perk (unlike Pain res for example). Also, other survivors do not know if you have the incapacitated effect, which causes miscommunications and frustration (e.g. you cannot heal others and they do not know this).

These kind of perks, where effectiveness of the perk inherently depends on if you play with your friends on comms or not, are fundamentally bad design and something needs to be done to bridge the gap between solo and swf. Nerfing perks like these is a good start.

People bring gen regressing perks to face gen rushing, which is a 2022 thing, and you suggest to nerf one of the perks that keeps the game up? Ahahah sorry but eruption decimates only extremely unorganized teams. If you have a good map control it is not that strong as it requires the killer to keep kicking generators out of cooldown. It is a commitment. It takes the slot of perks that can change the game much more.

Of all the gen regressing perks there are few very worth using and eruption should feel funny to play against as well.

    • Acts as a 2nd chance perk
    • Can be used both by noobs and pros alike
    • Destroys M1 killers, is ok/good against most other killers
    • Creates Uncounterable Situations
    • Overwhelmingly meta

    After so-called "REWORK":

    • 3 Health States (with added sprint burst BENEFIT)
    • Acts as a 2nd chance perk
    • Can be used both by noobs and pros alike (confirmed by pick rate)
    • Destroys M1 killers, is ok/good against most other killers (arguably even better)
    • Creates Uncounterable Situations because the reaction is on the survivor's side and the killer's counterplay is "I hope the survivor is bad haha"
    • Overwhelmingly meta

DH was strong for 5 years, then for the first time in 5 years it's getting reworked/nerfed and not only:

1 It's still overwhelmingly meta (I tracked my killer games, DH is the most used perk + dev stats suggest the same story)

2 It's still arguably as strong, if not stronger than the old DH

How does a perk stay very strong for 5 years, gets apparently reworked, and is still as strong as before? How is it even possible LOL? Meanwhile, DS gets hardcore nerfed, but DH stays the same both in effectiveness and pick rate. The objective to rework DH has failed in every metric possible.

And no, the new DH doesn't require "more skill". If it required a significant amount of more skill, then its pick rate wouldn't be as high. Noobs would stop using it as it would be a waste of perk slot, and pick other exhaustion perks.

DH should straight up be removed from the game if the game developers can't figure out how to properly rework a perk. It's honestly laughable at this point.

It was never nerfed but reworked. It is more difficult to use but more rewarding.

I hope it stays like this and actually gets fixed so you can activate it last moment as it is the only perk of the game that makes the game feel action.

In my opinion the game should be around perks like this, actually skill based and fun (rewarding) to use.

The frustration is understandable and it also comes from the fact that more people than it is known use "auto-dead hard" cheats. (there is also some frustration that comes from misunderstanding that endurance actually comes from other perks as well, and people generalize on DH)

  • @jamally093 said:

I'm mainly saying this because of the Knight when picking up a flag survivors get both endurance and a free speed boost with no other downside no Exhausted or Hindered nothing. The only two killer's that give survivors some form of positive thing is Wesker and Nemesis though Nemesis gives a minor speed boost while Wesker gives them that injured speed boost when grabbed and injured. But no other killer gives any form of positive status effect for survivors. So may main question is should grabbing the flag no longer give the positive status effects?

If we menage to have the knight balanced, with the flag, I would say yes it would be cool the endurance. But the knight needs to be a little bit stronger overall :)

Yes thank you ahah I also take screenshots of the good ones. Again, there are very nice people. But most of the time, if you want to win (this has to be said), people will rather make excuses and weird accusations rather than admitting (to themselves) a bad play

  • @JustAnotherNewbie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3255005#Comment_3255005

If the killer is outclassed by the survivors, yes obviously. If they are the same level though, can you really claim that?

I've had killers with one or two perks who are attempting to tunnel, but we have more time played so obviously we outskill him as we have more hours than him. But it is questionable in the first place that we get to play vs a beginner.

Is it a skill issue if survivors get to end game and killer has no hooks but he has NOED and end up getting a 3k because he caught the team grouped up in gate trying to open it? He sucked all game long, but now he got a 3k cause he made one good decision and NOED (or maybe you could think of a different end-game perk) handed him a win. Although by his performance all game his skill was lackluster.

You can call it on perks balance. I would say yes it is you underestimatimg your opponent and a crucial passage of the game. But in any case, you are not entitled of a bad endgame chat.

    I agree on the rest.

  • @JustAnotherNewbie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3254998#Comment_3254998

Now ask the rest of the hardcore killer mains here if they like survivors looping them for 2-3 gens. Because most of what I see is people complaining about main buildings and safe pallets. And the killer that is coming has an anti-loop power. Even BHVR doesn't like looping anymore and probably want to move the game into a more gen-oriented meta (new survivor has 3 perks focused on gens with one also being an aura revealing perk under conditions and killer has 1 perk about gens but also gives aura revealing, 1 for aura reveal and one for getting stunned, basically punishing survivors for getting pallet stuns).

I'm sure playing with a team of people you know the game is completely different and very fun, but playing alone in a game that wants to go even more into the teamplay route while being hostile to soloq having anyway to communicate with each other besides aura perks for team is painful.

And I play LoL, which is known as being highly toxic and also requires team-co-ordination and I don't think I've ever felt this helpless as in DBD soloq.

My opinion about it is that this game is meant to be enjoyed the best with friends. And it is balanced around that idea. So yes, playing alone you are put in disadvantage. The game is simply not balanced for that.

I do not know what this game is going to be or what people don't like, but I do know that at my MMR, whatever it is, if I am not efficient, in 5 minutes they are out. So sometimes I resort to secure a kill or tunnel one person out of the game so I can handle better the team. But you sea that coming and you can use it against me. It's my suggestion, I try to do that, and you can work around that. Maybe you cannot always save everyone but you still can win. If the gates are opened and you get out, the killer looses.

And when I proudly menage because of an amazing setup to get everyone in a complete fair way for every existing being in the universe, they will blame it on the build, killer powers or whatever else. Which is still my point: all these are excuses, you loose because you didn't know better. Both "sides".

Ah the good ol' "Hello fellow Survivor mains, Im a Solo Q main myself and I believe we should be nerfed to the ground and facecamped to oblivion" thread, what would be this forum without them...

No. I play everyday with my girlfriend and our friends. This is me, trying to truly have a good time when I play as a survivor and when I play as a killer :)

And it's not about any nerfs.

  • @JustAnotherNewbie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3254977#Comment_3254977

Camping and tunelling is more accessible as it is the first instinct any newbie killer has.

Looping is not an instinct for survivors or understanding which pallets are safe and which not and gens do require some timing at first. Newbie survivors' instinct at first is too hide and run in a straight line, but the game doesn't work like that because they don't know how to hide effectively or when they are supposed to run in a straight line.

Killers do complain about looping and gen-rushing though, and doing gens is survivors' main objective.

I believe the speed of generators being done is suffered indipendentely from survivors doing them. Means it has different factors (map, spawns, chases) but never how people play.

Complaining about looping has to do with frustration. At that point, some people dc as well. It is a loss for a killer, and it's clearly a skill issue. Is it not?

The point is : tunneling/camping/slugging is not enough to guarantee a win. And you should not take it for more than it is

  • @Colton147147 said:

All games are killer-sided with updates catered to only killer buffs and survivor nerfs.

It is not true! I almost enjoyed playing more against knights than with them on public lobbies. I never feel in disadvantage when I play as a survivor. There is not such a thing as killer or survivors sides. This game IS balanced, and in search of its balance.

  • @JustAnotherNewbie said:

How do you punish tunneling and camping?

If you scour the forums people will say they camp and tunnel because it's effective and then they will say it's needed in high level play. So who do I believe, you a survivor main? Or a killer main who claims tunneling and camping is necessary to win? If it is used in high MMR wouldn't that imply it's a highly effective strategy and not something easily punishable?

Does the killer compliment you when you run them for 2-3 gens because as a survivor main I've never gotten a killer be like "you actually were too good in the chase". The only communication I've gotten is being hit on hook or camped. Should I feel flattered then?

What are the perks that counter tunneling and camping?

The ones I can think of for camping are Reassurance which isn't free and you'd need to always be the one going for the save just to check if the killer is around and maybe Kinship, which requires teamplay.

For tunneling I can think of maybe BT and Off the Record and in the past DS when it was stronger, but it is also behind a paywall.

Or should you instead run a gen-rushing build like Hyperfocus/Stake out with Toolbox?

Wouldn't that only re-inforce the idea that killers have to run 4 gen-slowdown perks? And then survivors have to use builds for gen-rushing. Is that really the fun part of the game?

Just stop claiming tunneling and camping can be punished easily. There's a reason high level players also use them, because they are highly effective and they are very accessible for every killer. They don't depend on perks or killer power because every killer can do that (some better than others of course) and sometimes maps make camping even easier when they have narrow hallways and you can pretty much body block entrances. (what do you do against insta down killers camping?)

If you play like 5 games a week maybe I can understand your attitude but if you play 5-7 games daily as soloq survivor and still stay as positive and want to spread a positive message then can't we say the same about killers complaining about going against gen-rushing builds and bully squads and SWFs.

Also, if you ran the killer for 2 gens and did a gen or two and rescued two people but you lost (die) trying to body block for your teammate who's on death hook can you say this person did bad and they deserve to lose? What mistake did he personally make when he contributed so much?

I always always complimented people for looping long and find smart ways. I started to play this year and for my first 100h as a killer I played with people with 10-20 times my hours. No matter, how frustrating it was to loose, against what for me where impossible matches, I always spread positivity and never have I thought to complain in the endgame chat.

  • @HugTheHag said:

Against a full SWF, I have to agree. There are counterplays to camping, and to some extent, to tunneling. Unfortunately, tunneling is disproportionately efficient and powerful against casual players who can't loop well and don't want to dedicate half their build to anti-tunneling, AND against teams that are not on comms. Without coordination, people are going to flail around not being quite as efficient as tunneling requires to be countered. So considering full SWFs are so rare (in most mmr brackets at least), it remains an overpowered strategy (in my opinion).

As for compliments or being positive towards the killer in postgame chat, I actually think quite a lot of people leave at least a gg when they feel like the match was fair. I compliment killers pretty often when I feel like they had anything remarkable, whether that be good map pressure, great mindgames or use of their power (99'd stalks, precise whips on Nemesis or shock therapy on Doctor...), etc.

Whether I survived or died does not matter, it's mostly if I had fun or if I found the game interesting. If I got tunneled, you better bet I did not have fun, so I'm not going to shower the killer in compliments (I just won't engage).

When I play killer, I actually have very positive endgame chats pretty often (besides the quite impersonal 'ggs'), though often after I myself said a few words. Once they realize I'm not "gg ez"-ing them, the survivors are usually pretty open to discussing the game or joking around in chat. =)

I do not consider "gg" a positive endgame chat as it is often a praise on survivors own work or auto celebration. Same as for the killer. If I have fun I will spend 10 seconds of my time writing something. Yes there are very nice people, I would like to play with or against you, but it's just too rare. If you play very good the best scenario is silence at this point. I cannot recall how many times I heard people wishing a family member to die or whatever because (is it even worth specifying?) what, I had 4 hex perks? Or because I protected a generator? Camon.

  • @Steakdabait said:

You can't force people to enjoy being tunneled/mass slugged/camped lol

If you wanna play boring play boring but you're gonna have to accept that people won't like playing with you if you play in a way that is overwhelmingly accepted as unfun

I am not saying it is particularly fun. I am saying that because of these "etiquettes" people don't accept they loose because of their own fault. As a result, there is never an honorable win that survivors compliment, because they always find something that didn't go as they wanted!

I do not play like that as a killer, but in some section of some trials these actions can mean win or loose for a killer as the game is balanced around the idea of survivors escaping. They can escape, so if they are good, they will. You can also say, you can't always win as a killer. At high mmr, with some killers, on some maps, it's either tunnel and defend hooks, or loose. Not because of your skill, but because of the game design. And survivors should accept it as normal, and prevent it or make use of these moments. They are NOT the reason why you lost as a team.

I've been seeing some posts about techs and if they should be removed over the past couple of days and I believe no tech should he removed besides the weired blight one that was fixed a month ago or smthin.

Cj techs, 360s's, window techs, and all the weired ass name techs should not be removed because they create and extra skill set in the game. For the most part it is extremely hard to pull off such techs in high mmr and it gives a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when you do so, especially against good killers. They are fun but difficult and do not break the game in anyway. Although when you 360 and snap your ankles in half its a very good mechanic and skill that can give you reward if you do it correctly.

Most people that complain about techs are no offense, the lower mmr players. It's not your fault though, it's mmr. You are probably supposed to be going against low mmr but you end up going against 3000 swf squad. So yeah I would get why you would complain about removing techs, mmr just destroyes everything and provides horrible statistics and info which leads to people complaining about something that shouldn't be complained about

Don't worry, people suggesting to remove these things are just frustrated by their trials. Only unfun solutions will be considered to be removed. If you leave the killer no choice than to be stunned or whatever, then it should be considered unfun. If you do a very high risk action and get rewarded for it, it should be considered the work of a skilled player!

Sounds like high mmr problems to me

"You cant just pick clown or trapper and have some fun" yeah of course you cant if you keep on sweating every match, ur gonna get sweaty survivors, its how it works

You are just confirming his statement. You win till you loose. And when you get high mmr you cannot play whatever you want as a killer without good add ons.

This game is not killer sided. It favors killer till the top, but a 4 man (16 perks, 4 items) team is stronger. Like it or not. Survivors loosing IS on them. Because they CAN win. And if they are good enough, they will.

I mean there's at least three I could think about off the bat, that easily fits the DBD meta .

You have The Thing which can decieve others and would make some really awesome moments.

The Xenomorph. Why isn't the Xenomorph in the game yet?

And obviously The Predator again why isn't he in the game yet.

    WE NEED ALIEN!

It's so stupid that a player can body block off hook and their unhooker can get away with unhooking for free.

I'm tired of playing nice and not tunneling and getting denied anyway. I'm tired of being expected to body block when I'm unhooked then tunneled out because I was body blocked by my own teammate expecting me to protect them. Unhooking should be a risk for the unhooker and never for the killer or the unhooked.

Instead of basekit BT, unhooked survivors should be given up to 10s of no collision, no interaction with anything but the environment, as if they just took a hit. Because they'd be invincible, they also wouldn't be allowed to do anything productive like throw pallets, use flashlights/flashbangs, or interact with survivors or killers at all for the duration. Conspicuous actions would of course end this immediately.

BT/Off The Record would then start after the basekit no collision wears off, giving it's bonus protection as usual.

Defensive, anti-tunneling perks like BT, Off The Record, and the basekit endurance should not be used offensively. They should protect those that are actually being tunneled but shouldn't be able to weaponized against the killer and shouldn't be a "Get out of jail free" card for unhookers.

It is not easy to split those scenarios. The game is loosing a bit of the his horror vibe to become more and more of a sport. And if there is someone to blame its not the developers (I ll leave it to you).

That said. All these things, while they look ugly to watch, they are not even as strong as you claim them to be. Try other killers and find one that clicks with you. Someone that can benefit from that is definitely Plague. Infected survivors with no endurance will have no where to go :)

My definition of p2w - Anything that you can buy only for real money, which is affecting your gameplay. Exactly in dbd, I don't consider "cosmetics, skins, charms" as a p2w, same goes for perks (coz you just can buy them for in game currency through shrine, no matter how long you'll have to wait), but I do consider a licensed killers as, because some of the licensed killers have an obvious advantage over original ones.

People and even Community Manager keeps telling me that "Nurse is free and she's the strongest killer" without understanding that not everyone good with nurse and they might never be (playing on console, don't understanding or not liking her power).

Imo, community manager should never say something like "This killer is strongest", it makes me feel like developers keeping the balance issues on purpose to prevent people thinking like this game is p2w. Why don't they nerf the S-tier killers and buff other killers to the same "dificulty", that no matter what killer you play, it's a pure balance? Because more people will start to consider this game a p2w.

In what I'm trying to say: They never nerf these S-tier killers, and we never will have a proper balance, because of a licensed killers.

You're saying "This game is alive at november 2022, with a great support of 7 years due to this economy"? Completely disagree.

This game is still alive due to many reasons but most important once are:

    1. This game have no good competitors since it's release.
    2. Game is alive because of it's community, who endured all bugs and unfair gameplay.
    3. This game was (and might still be) very popular on Twitch, because of a Fog whisperers.

It has nothing to do with licensed killers, or the "some economy" that you mentioned imo.

I think what you said is normal and a good compromise for having a game fully supported and updated after almost 7 years.

All the "community work" is possible only because of the constant updates. Monster Hunter World is a magnificent game, with a wonderful community, and it is now almost dead, after 4 years, because they stopped adding content. I am sure you can find many examples.

This game is alive because of its economy. And it's a particularly good one. There are not even plans of a sequel because of that.

This is a giant strawman. I play at top MMR killer. I don't tunnel at 5 gens. I don't count but my win-rate is easily around 75%. It doesn't make me a "bad survivor" to be frustrated that by the time I've done half a gen, a guy is hooked and that guy will never contribute to the match again.

Make solo queue's match with lower MMR killers or something. So at least when the incels tunnel someone out you have a shot at running them for a bit rather than just the game being over.

You people act like I'm a survivor. Im 90% killer. It doesn't change that this is a massive flaw and NO ONE can give a good reason for DS being nerfed beyond "it was being used a lot so we killed it"

It is useless go speak generically. Tunneling at 5 gens is a specific way to play. Differently from tunneling or defending hooks. If those 5 gens become 2 in 3 minutes, tunneling is a different thing. How many times does it occur to you to be tunneled at 5 gens?

I don't know how accurate your claim of MMR is but I don't get tunneled more than once a day as a survivor (if a killer tries to, my team mates either gen rush him and I get saved last minute or come to body block) and I don't tunnel more than 1 section of the game, generally on 4 people. Depending on the maps and items.

I agree...that's not what I'm talking about. All afternoon yesterday, every single game with maybe 2 exceptions, first person downed was 3-hooked and often at 4ish gens. "playstyle" is a poor excuse for "survivors flat out can't win if you get matched with someone who is weak in chase or, HEAVEN FORBID, makes ONE MISTAKE and gets downed"

Yes. That should be common sense. For how annoying it is, it is possible to do in normal game, so it shouldn't be suffered as an offense. It can get addressed with more perks (eventually very strong) for survivors or making the killer loose points for certain chain actions on X tunneled survivor. As an idea.

i meen it more as in that survivors are always complaining about tunneling and all that but always ingnore that gen rushing its the same thing, as i mentioned, one its labeled anti fun and yada yada yada and the other its perfectly fine. And i agree honestly, both are game styles, but the mayority of the survivor side seems to tink that the only people who have to follow specific rules are the killers, wich in all honesty its kind of dumb

I am a "survivor main" as I play this game mostly with my girlfriend, but when I am alone I enjoy it a lot as a killer.

There are no rules. 4 people need to do 5 gens and open the gates. The killer wants to kill them. To me, what is in the game stays in the game. It's absurd how serious people take these stuff and how much energies and time they waste to complain about who did what. (beside cheating!). There are pseudo toxic interaction, but even then that's as far as it goes.

Tunneling is something only weak survivors really complain about as it is basically required at high MMR with survs bringing 4 items. There is no match where the killer doesn't resolve to tunnel or slug for a section. If the killer wins without being highly efficient, consider you played against a killer that truly didn't take you seriously as a team.

You cannot live in the dream word of no tunnel, slugging, camping. As this game is not even fair for killers, when you can finish 5 gens in 4-5 minutes, bringing medkits that allows you to be healed in less than 10 seconds. Everyone uses everything against everyone.

Its already a pain to deal with solo q teams for many reasons. So consistently pipping can be quite a pain. When a dc happens at the start, which happens a lot, why isnt it an auto safety pip? A 3v1 is going to be a loss at least. Then put that in with a killer who still sweats and tunnels or camps people to death. How is that in any way in our control? Its very frustrating to have my progress being reset by dc's

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/06UH1UXCXPK7/20221102152155-1.jpg

As I said before the band aid fix for this is to make it so that its at least a safety pip. The real fix is to add bots but that would require some improvements on the bots.

    +1

  • @Viamont said:

i have said it a good few times, but when gen 3 people are penalized for gen rushing a generator by 3 people in the same way that killers are penalized then survivors should start complaining about it...at the end of the day gen rushing and tunneling are the exact same thing, eficiently doing your task....the hipocritical thing here is that one its ocnsidered horrible, disgusting and anti fun, and the other its totally ok, ill leave you to wonder wich one is wich

They are both fine to me. Literally playstyles. Tunneling is not discouraged by the game, differently from extreme slugging and camping where you actually loose points for it. It should be common sense to tunnel in a "sane" way. People doing unsafe unhooks are more dangerous than the killer sometimes.

  • You all seam to be tunneled to dead every trial. It happens to me 1 out of 15 trials. I don't know. Are you even doing gens? What is your build?

The way to handle tunneling is cooperating.

honestly id hate it if they gutted her, and thats the issue with her power. They can either revamp her entire kit, gut her or shes always gonna be slightly more powerful than some would like. There is no imbetween really. If they make it really punishing to use her power, and that it takes forever to recharge shell have no map presence because shes slower than survivors. if they make her 4.2 but also making her power more accessible to newer players people will hate her.

Honestly, i believe there is never gonna be a way to "win" in the devs eyes with nurse, hence why they dont touch her.

Maybe also because people are never happy :) when it comes to these discussions. Something more worth thinking about than how actually this killer works. A lot of people need a break from this game and keep building a frustration meter.

I am average yes, but understand that low MMR, mid MMR, or high mmr means nothing in soloQ.

I made a thread some time ago, where i was constantly matched against 6k, 8k nurses even if i am losing constantly against them.

Even if i can up my playstyle, i really depend on the other 3 to still be able to last against her in chase. And i cant really blame them if they dont last 20sec, as the main counterplays to nurse are laughable (the "be unpredictable" and "break LOS").

SoloQ is not the best way to enjoy a game that as a design lets you choose between playing as a survivor or a killer. Why don't you try to play killer when you are alone and with your friends more ? It' s literally how the game is designed, it is normal to be in a little disadvantage with no people to coordinate with.

To escape a Nurse you cannot play as the other killers, there are a lot of elements you can use to escape a chase.

Maybe you could have fun with nurse, my fun in nurse games disappears when in 3 min everyone is downed because we are on a small map and the nurse brings agi-starstruck.

Truth is, even in the matches where my teammates dont DC or kill themselves on hook, almost everytime it still is a 4k for nurse. I have escaped once a few days ago after a four month losing streak.

Starstruck Nurse is only effective in low and mid MMR. If you find yourself decimated in 3 minutes with no come back consider yourself average and focus on improving your playstyle. I am nothing better than that as a survivor myself.

When I play as a Nurse I can assure starstruck is not the way to go at high MMR. Because people are gonna split on the farest gens and rescue last minute. You won't make the same value. At least not the build you described.

To be fair, since it may become very oppressive it is worth having concerns about it being "too strong" but my point is: it shouldn't become insufferable.

  • Rebalancing in that way should come directly from devs. And it would mean making her less unique.

Do you really prefer her being 4.2 and her blinks special attacks? At the end of the day it wouldn't be much different. Just less special.

Also you are hating on the strongest killer of the game. There is always gonna be one. Now the Nurse is getting all this attention but just wait a certain killer takes her place and we are talking about someone else.

It's fun to play against Nurses. And the few times I play as her I would like her to be different from the other killers.

  • A little ot.

In order to win, with the gens times, you don't have to loop killers for minutes but be efficient working well together using the maps and your build/items.

If you happen to use 0/1 perks, no items, and go around the map without a clear plan, you don't "deserve to win" at high MMR. As very good teams are able to handle every killer. Making the right sacrifices.

There are very few players in the world that make the strongest killer in the game strong enough to win on 99%. Consider them gods. And don't compare to them.

  • @Rovend said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3251655#Comment_3251655

The problem is that nurse plays so different to any other killer, and denies most mechanics surv have while looping. Combined with her blink attack proc ing starstruck, jolt, sloppy, and the terrible, horrendous MMR that matches you with god nurse after god nurse, it is hard not to hate this killer.

I believe you are describing a cool killer to play with (and against).

I personally always had fun playing against nurses. When I got bullied I appreciated how good was the other person and the match ended rather quickly.

We need to be able to call on us when things don't work.

When I play as a Nurse I am able to get some people that would loop me for a while with other killers, but that's just because they are bad at looping the Nurse. I never started a match thinking I would win 100% or even close to that. People should stop giving up calling nerfs and so on. Most of the reason why you loose its you (your team).

  • I don't know about that as I m farely average but my feedback is this.

I just would like people to chill with these nerfs calls...

  • I escape more Nurses than Plagues

  • @Ronaldo said:

When is nurse gonna get rework , not really rework just needs to delete both ranges and make blinking to be a m2 because with starstruck and range is really unfun and unhealthy. I don't have a problem with nurse but with those things you can't do anything even she is bad. Lol I don't want any hate :)

Lowest killer rate at October 2022.

Her power is used to move around the map, not just to hit people.

Have you ever tried nurse on the switch? Hope you can update your post when you do.

It's ok to loose against strong players with strong builds.

Ps. I am a "survivor main"
