Or the survivors were trying but they messed up.
The killer being able to see the survivors going for an unhook cause they aren't even trying to be sneaky and then stopping them isn't proxy camping
That's not a scenario I was talking about.

The Skill Checks replaced the previous system, which was mashing a button to not die immediatly. Which was pretty bad, since it damaged controllers and was quite annoying to do, especially because if you missed it once, you died.
The Skill Checks made it easier and it also took longer to die, since you had to miss two Skill Checks to die. So there was some protection against missing at least.
Then as part of the Anti-Go Next measurements, it was changed that missing two Skill Checks was not enough. Now missing a Skill Check reduces the Hook Timer, but it takes more Skill Checks to miss to be out of the game. So if someone wants to go next, they take longer to do so which gives other Survivors more time to save them.
Personally, I dont think it makes sense at all to keep people around who want to go next, since they will not suddenly start playing the game. At worst they start to troll the other Survivors, at best they will run towards the Killer or just stand under the Hook. But some people seem to believe it helps.
Regarding the initial question - as said, it matters a bit if you hit the Skill Checks or not. A small fraction of the Hook Timer is removed if you miss one.
The skill checks are kind of outdated now with the go next prevention. Even if you lose a bit of time by missing them, there's still more than enough time for someone to get you. And if they don't, either they weren't trying, or the Killer was proxy camping…

And somehow they can all hit you through the basekit BT? You can't be hit during it, and if you are, then you get a speed boost that is going to give you about as much the same distance. The 66 meters is free because if they hit you, you get a speed boost. Any of those killers with the exception maybe of nurse there isn't going to immediately catch up to you post sprint burst.
But nurse should not really be considered in conversations of balance like this, because nurse does not play dead by daylight. She plays the nurse game, and its an entirely different beast and not really relevant to this discussion.
They absolutely can. I don't know how you can play Survivor and still be blind to these facts, that basekit BT isn't the Marvel superpower you think it is.
What really baffles me is the double standard. When Survivors don't perfectly use their limited delay tools, you say they "played wrong." But when Killers don't use their much stronger slowdown, regression, and pressure tools, suddenly the answer is "add anti-genrush."
You can't demand Survivors play perfectly while excusing Killers from using the tools they already have.

Yeah, about 3/4ths of the Killer roster can delete that free distance in an instant.

if you can't get somewhere in 66 meters of free distance, you are playing the game wrong. you failed at that point.
OH RIGHT! It's not like Nurse, Blight, or Ghoul can instantly delete that 66 meters of free distance or anything…

They don't have the tools to stop tunneling camping and slugging?
Did you play DBD like 6 years ago? How about when they added:
- Basekit BT
- Atnti-facecamp
- You have tons of perks that deal with it
Are you even playing the same game? Do you even hear yourself? The tools are constantly given to you basekit. The "slowdown and regression tools" are all not basekit, they are perks. But survivors keep getting them added basekit.
Well, you clearly didn't hear me. I already said DS, OTR, Basekit BT are not anti-tunnel, they are delay perks/mechanics, and you still bring those up as if they actually do anything game-changing.
Basekit BT isn't an anti-tunnel, it's an anti-instant-down-off-hook mechanic. Wait out that 15 seconds, and the Killer can tunnel that person same as before. Same with DS and OTR, you can wait them out. Those perks are easily counterable and easy to tunnel through.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4077844#Comment_4077844
Punishing people for playing the game does not solve the problem because any possible mechanic they could create to deal with this will be able to be abused in a way that its not intended.
They instead need to fundamentally rework the base mechanics of the game such that tunneling is not possible from a gameplay perspective, and that slugging would be worse than just hooking the survivor.
And why is that we need anti-tunnel, anti-camp, anti-3-gen and now anti-slug mechanics in place but not anti-gen rush?
"Why can't we nerf Survivors more?"
"I want Survivors slowed down so I don't have to apply pressure."
Serious answer: Because tunneling, camping, and slugging remove gameplay from the Survivors, but doing gens is the gameplay. "Genrushing" is merely Survivors doing the objective efficiently, not some special tactic or cheese strategy. Killers already have gen slowdown/regression tools, but Survivors don't have tools to effectively stop tunneling, camping, or slugging. DS and OTR only delay tunneling for a short time, that's why these situations are treated differently.
-
So…you're complaining about the worst Survivors in the game who give up while admitting that you can't handle going against the knowledgeable ones who don't give up. This may not be the game for you in that case…
-
Because people are competitive. End of discussion.
-
So are you complaining about "reverse tunneling?" I usually don't see it unless the Killer is running obsession perks and leaving the obsession alone. Or that one person could be quite stealthy, too. I don't see it as complaint-worthy.
-
Does the diminishing return system apply to 2v8? If so, it really shouldn't. There's not enough stacking of anything going on to justify it.
-
In my experience, I have had notices that actions were taken on all the times I've reported people. But I agree they need to implement a mechanic to prevent this, whether it be moving the cage when a teammate blocks it like that for, idk, 20-30 seconds, or allow teammates to rescue from the sides instead of only directly in front.
I haven't had this happen to me, but this does make me scared to play 2v8… 😨
-
I would think the Play while you Wait would get Killers to play Survivor and see just how much Gen speeds and sprint bursts actually matter (which is not as much as they claim).
-
What's the "more info" that's being shown?
-
You could try asking yourself if you truly have fun just slugging people like that. I really question the mentality of the ones who do.

Survivors don't want to deal with ghoul so they just DC
Survivors don't want to deal with any killer mechanics so they just complain until they get basekit changes.
Sounds to me some survivors just don't like player the game as designed and want to cheese their way to easier, low effort, steam roll victories.
The point is, you don't get to dictate how people play the game, if you don't like how they are playing the game, learn how to counter it. If the way they are playing the game is so powerful that it is uncounterable, then you need to be complaining at the devs, not the players for using it.
If the way they are playing the game is so powerful that it is uncounterable, then you need to be complaining at the devs, not the players for using it.
We've been doing that for, what, nine years? Almost ten? And several times the devs were about to address it, only to scrap it and give up on it. So yes, we're going to keep on complaining about it, and then maybe someday it'll get addressed. And that's a big fat MAYBE.

That is true because looping has nothing to do with Ghostface's potential. He has no anti-loop so he's incredibly predictable to loop against, any survivor can run around him because there's nothing he can do aside mindgame like every other killer without powers, he has to resort of on his stealth and catching people off guard if he wants a chance at winning.
A strong survivor would instead be focusing on turning off Ghostface's stealth and keeping an eye from where he's coming from. That doesn't make him weak.

It does mean im a strong survivor, hence why I call him weak. You called him strong because you are not good at looping him, not me.
I called him strong because he is strong. If a Survivor outplays him, it means the Killer player made mistakes, didn't use Ghostface's ability properly, didn't use tiles properly, etc.

I mean I just watched Ascent vs Invictus and the ghostfaces on both sides only got like 4-5 stages and thats WITH survivors perk restricting themselves too. Survivor is so strong against ghostface (and other killers) they perk restrict themselves fyi
I don't think you know what a "really strong team is" which checks out considering you think ghostface is a strong killer. This circles back to an earlier point I made too: You guys play killer so little you have no idea the difference between actual good survivors, and baby survivors. I promise you guys arent amazing killer players because you get 4k5s with no addons/no perks and somehow everyone else who says they are struggling is bad at killer.Neither do you. If Ghostface is as weak as you say, looping him doesn't mean you're a strong Survivor.

I didn't say you wouldn't, I'm saying you couldn't. As in it takes skill to chase and down someone who actually knows how to play survivor. You think ghostface is strong which tells me all I need to know about your looping skills.
And yet I've seen Ghostfaces take down some really strong teams. You only think Ghostface is weak because he's not an S-Tier.

Another massive self report. Even the best ghostfaces in the world can get 4 outed with a couple hook states. Just because you have trouble looping a ghostface, doesnt mean everyone does. This community has too much of a problem with "If this happens to me, it applies universally" no no, only YOU are having trouble looping a ghostface.
I'm also willing to bet you couldn't tunnel me or any of my friends out, which is weird because people always say tunneling takes no skill (no skill means even a fresh install can do it)Of course I wouldn't tunnel you out. I'd rather lose than tunnel, because it's such a BS "skill" as you call it.

This is a massive self report because ghostface is known as one of the top 5 worst killers in the game. The only people who think ghostface is strong is tiktok, and tiktok dbd is awhole another planet. I am a KILLER MAIN and I have no issues looping a ghostface, yes ive had plenty of times I outlooped the entire expose 60 second timer. Don't tell me this killer main is better at looping then you are?
And in regards to Cogsturning I do agree with you there. I think what would help the killer experience improve is having a natural progression to the difficulty of survivors that killers face. If I dont continuously face good survivors, how will I improve as a killer?"Worst Killers" according to whom? There are no "worst Killers". There's only strong Killers, and then the S-Tiers like Nurse, Blight, or Ghoul. Any Killer can become unstoppable if the player is skilled enough with them and put on powerful builds.
Then again, skill isn't even needed for Killers when they only need to tunnel or slug.

Please check the photo I posted above, it was me playing ghostface during the last anniversary. Either I am some amazing 1v1 god and Esskie and Stalkedd need to move over and make room for a new rank 1 ghostface player, or these survivors were trash. That photo I posted is what YOU think playing killer is like, because you don't play enough killer and have not gotten into lobbies with people that force you to tunnel. Any actual killer main will tell you that photo is a baby lobby.
You're running Franklin's, Weave Attunement, Spies, and Ruin with an insta-down stealth Killer. Lots of powerful advantages there. I wonder what the tally screen showed for that lobby?

I say end the game. It's no more fun to sit on gens and watch your one teammate get tunneled than it is to get tunneled yourself.

yeah so my assessment is entirely correct. You don't acknowledge any of the reasons for why these things would get changed, just that they did, they were killer issues, and that they were complained about. And based on that you think developers will change everything killers complain about.
Survivors get a lot of things that i think that you don't acknowledge because they aren't widely discussed or complained about. This is either because they are strong but not problematic or require advanced level play to get value from. And both of things mean any complaints about them won't gain traction.
Fast track is an exception i believe because of it's applicability. It's an old perk that is very easy to use and it's only counter is to not hook survivors and that is the part that people are trying to point out.You sure talk a lot about how certain things were "legitimate Killer issues" rather than just sheer outcry and entitlement, but not a single word about HOW these issues are legitimate.

Don't survivors get the abandon option when slugged multiple times? Or is this complaint more for the survivor not slugged?
I would say it's more for the Survivor not slugged. It just feels bad to leave the other person to bleed out even though picking them up will be pointless, and would only drag on the lost game even longer. Knowing BHVR, all they would do is add another abandon option when only two survivors remain. Not the route I would agree with, mind you, but everyone knows that giving survivors a reason to stick out the match until the end is not allowed.

Yeah, it was my expectation that if BHVR could find a way, then they would bring that Killer into 2V8. It's fun for what it is and I'm sure it will remain popular, but I'm also starting to think it would have been better left in its first iteration and brought back only once a year. Then BHVR could have put those resources into developing more unique game modes for us to play. You are right, it has stagnated. It's kinda sad that we're looking at the final version of 2V8 already, with all the remaining Killers deemed either too unpopular with Survivors or too difficult for BHVR to implement. I think they will try to shoehorn a few more licensed Killers into the mode for the money, but I don't think we'll see Alien or Stranger Things until there is another Disney / Netflix IP in the game. It will never reach its full potential now.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4070142#Comment_4070142
Don't forget that Legion got some nerfs before being kill switched. The trouble with Oni is that his power encourages slugging to get the most value from a demon dash and we know this play style isn't enjoyable for a lot of Survivors. You can pick yourself up with your Survivor ability in this mode, so it's arguably not so bad but then there's also another Killer than can come along to pick up his slugs, so I'm not sure that makes much difference. He's also pretty much always in power, which is problematic. But then if you make it so that Oni's power takes longer to activate, nobody will want to play him because he'd be like playing a no traps trapper. It's difficult to get that balance right. If he continues to be complained about after the nerfs then he will have to be removed. All that said, it's an OTT party mode, nobody should care about any of this. Let the Oni have his fun.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4070158#Comment_4070158
I was surprised to see them add Legion so early in development tbh, because I knew they would be complained about (I mean, I do know why they added him with the Resident Evil 2V8 - it was a cynical cash grab to sell more Hunk skins). That said, it also surprised me to see Blight and Spirit added in the second iteration, because those characters are not exactly universally loved by Survivors either.
I did think that with the Legion having made into 2V8 they wouldn't ever be removed but here we are. I just wish I'd queued up for a lot more Legion matches instead of the hundreds of Survivor matches I played instead (I played only 17 Legion games in all).
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4070196#Comment_4070196
I don't see many Nurses in 2V8 either but when I do see one, they are usually pretty good with the character. I doubt a decent Nurse is much fun for the Survivors who struggled against Legion, so she should probably be removed (ditto for Blight). Her low pick rate because of her difficulty disqualifies her as well.
Yeah, I can't say I'm a fan of the insta-down Killers being in 2v8, and we currently have three of them (Billy, Oni, and Ghostie). But what can we do…?
-
"Be careful what you wish for." Yeah, that statement couldn't be any more true. Whenever a "problem" get solved, it gets solved in the worst way possible. I think Skull Merchant is a prime example (out of many). No one liked her, so they "reworked" her to be worse, and now still no one likes her...
And this will likely be another example of that, and I'm not even sure what "problem" they're trying to solve with this...
-
I hear Oni is getting nerfed for this upcoming iteration of 2v8. (Idk how, as I didn't get to watch the dev stream, but I heard friends mentioning it…)
-
Coming from a Survivor, it also depends on circumstances for me. If a teammate DC's on their first down, at least we have a bot taking their place, so I continue playing like normal (while fully expecting to die, of course).
On the other hand, if the teammate decides to sabo the match after giving up, I either try to stay away from them, or if I'm being chased, I'll try to lead the Killer towards that teammate, just to show them that they're just screwing around. What the Killer does about that is up to them, but I would be sorely disappointed if the Killer chooses to spare that person, because that type of player is the one that least deserves any mercy.
And then, as usual, there are times when people give up because the match is clearly lost. In that case, I don't blame them at all…
-

Or, that is what BHVR is quoted as having said in this recent IGN interview.
If that is the case, then why do we have:
- Basekit BT off hook
- A gen kick limit
- Anticamp
As clearly these are ways to prevent or de-incentivize a certain playstyle, right? Most likely because they're trying to move away from "competitive" gameplay, and tunneling, camping, slugging, etc. can fall into that category pretty easily. And as we've seen, the basekit BT, gen-kick limit and anti-facecamp does not prevent those playstyles at all, so players are still free to tunnel, camp, slug, etc.

Just pointing out that your post of four pictures of end screens does not invalidate what I stated. So don't know why you quoted me when you could have posted those just normally. Still none of those pictures prove those are intentional dc's either.
And looking at the points the Survivors got in those screenshots, they don't look like early game DC's either. Those look like the normal bloodpoint games from playing out a match. If it was early game, the Survivors would have little more than 7k bp.

Still its kinda hard nerf for set up killers like trapper, hag and especialy all or most of stealth killers because as I mentioned their first chase and many possible downs are determined by moment of surprise which will be lost when survivor just pushes tab to look at match info which is kinda nonsence to me like at one point devs wan to buff ghostface (thank god) and on other hand they nerf him by making his possible first down super hard because survivors will know its ghostface way before they even see him or see on hud he marked someone which is hard nerf for such weak stealth killer.
Yeah, I can see that. Personally I'm indifferent on whether they do it or not. Like I said, it's pretty easy to tell which Killer you're facing when the match starts, even without this (some stealth Killers are an exception).

Not only that, tell me you will paly soloq or swf (doesnt matter that much) and you will see you will be going against twins so what can you do?
Change your perks to most useable against that particular killer and thats more problematic thing because this game isnt that well balanced that is none problematic to see who your opponent is this game is based on total random mess like random map with killer you dont know and perks you dont know (killers, survivors knowing their perks isnt that huge problem) and with this you can basicaly gain huge advantage right before that game even starts its not like !go fight random moster" but having whole witcher preperation with 50+ potions to gain advantage so like you will see its trickster and easily what he sucks to go against exhastion perks so you put some into your build and voila you have advantage here against c-tier or with springtrap very simular thing just take sprintburst and he cant surprise you if you wont sleep on gen thats why this thing is pretty ridicilus.
Whether I play solo or swf, if I knew I was going against Twins in the lobby, I would definitely put on all the anti-slug perks. Likewise, if I knew I was facing Plague, I'd take off my healing perks. But my understanding was that we wouldn't see the Killer's identity until we load into the match, where it'd be too late to change your loadout.

By the way they've said, it looks like it will be more on active effects for a single build. For example: if you have We'll Make It and your teammate have Botany, both of you will have your healing speed bonus preserved. Now, if there is Boon: Circle of Healing Active, both perks will be halved, considering the boon is stronger (the same as We'll Make it, but you understood).
Doing this for the survivor team is madness, since it will only harm SoloQ, duos and trios, leaving the 4 man with the upper hand in the situation.
@topic
Probably this is a test to heavy buff some weird/niche perks from both sides, so they can have big number by themselves without being too strong when combined.Another concern is, I usually run Desperate Measures and Do No Harm. The Do No Harm would be fine on its own, but I run Desperate Measures mainly for the unhook speed. Is the unhook going to be nerfed along with the healing speed, even though Do No Harm doesn't touch unhooking speed?
-
I can't say I'm a fan of this diminishing return system for several reasons.
It won't diminish the meta builds at all. You'll still be seeing a lot of WGLF, Unbreakable, DH, DS builds, perhaps even more so, since their stacked perks will be nerfed.
Assuming it only applies per Survivor, which will then spread out the buffs. Instead of one person running a full genrush or a full heal build, etc., you'll see each person running one gen perk, one heal perk, instead of one person stacking one category to fulfill a particular "role." So you'll see three Survivors on three different gens with one progression perk, rather than one person on a gen with three progression perks (just as an example).
On the other hand, if it does apply to the whole Survivor team as one person has suggested, it'll be a further nerf to soloq, as they can't communicate what perks they're bringing, nor can they control what their teammates bring. Meanwhile, SWFs will be able to coordinate their builds so as to avoid the diminishment on their return. If they truly are going that route, they might as well do away with perks entirely and do the classes similar to 2v8.As for the "Wait and see before giving feedback?" We all know no one believes in "Wait and see." Just look at the anti-tunneling and anti-slug system that was scrapped before the vast majority of us even got to see it.
I hope I made sense with all of this. -
I mean... It's not hard to tell who the Killer is at the start of the match as it is (in most cases). But I can see revealing the Killer in the lobby causing an increase in lobby dodging and stuff.
-
At the very least, they should make the penalty decay with time rather than playing 20 matches. As mentioned above, it incentivizes the wrong behavior, since you *have* to keep playing in order to remove the penalty, which will incentivize the serial quitters to continue queueing up rather than stepping away from the game.
-
Yeah, teammates are something else, aren't they? Like for this screenshot, we had one teammate who just stood and let the Killer down and kill her, and yet I'm the one getting bitched at. Explain this logic to me…

BHVR is pretty bad at designing good game mechanics. Hence why the most effective way to win in DBD is to play in a way that annoys your opponents (regardless of side).
But that's how the game is, and always has been. And if someone gets so frustrated that they tend to rage quit, then an option is to uninstall and play something else. We're not forced to play this.
So while I agree BHVR has some responsibility in this (they literally encourage leaving now, which is why I'm suggesting changes), I still can't say they are solely to blame. They play a part in it, but at the same time, people can't blame their personal behaviors on… Behavior.Hence why the most effective way to win in DBD is to play in a way that annoys your opponents (regardless of side).
I believe this is at the heart of most of the DC's. Either that, or the Survivors lose well before the game is over. Killer tunnels out the first person at five gens? Yeah, there's no comeback from that. Meanwhile, Survivors can finish all five gens, and the Killer can still get their 4k in endgame. Survivors have no such comeback mechanics, so I believe this is why giving up is more common on the Survivor side. Any other excuses given (don't like the killer, map, perks, got found/downed first etc.) are just the cherries on top.
-
If only one Survivor can interact with a pump at a time, I'd prefer the pumps to spawn close together…
-
I'm hearing that Ruin and DMS are particularly strong. When you empty a pump at the gen, you automatically let go, and DMS activates, and then Ruin will regress anything you've put into it. I haven't experienced it personally yet, but this just sounds like a lose-lose scenario.
-
I recently learned that even if cheaters are banned, they also have programs that can "spoof" your hardware? (I think that's what the term is called, I can't remember...) But they can trick the system into thinking that their hardware is completely different, so they have ways to bypass hardware bans. So after this, I don't think there will be any victory in the war against cheaters and hackers...
For those who need ways to record videos, I could recommend MedalTV. It records your gameplay in the background, and then you press a button to save the last 30 seconds (or you can adjust the length up to two minutes). It's pretty simple to use and you won't have to clutter your hard drive with gameplay recordings.
-
Given how Lights Out went, I don't see this mode going well either...

Yes, this is what i keep saying. The solution to this problem is to stop cultivating a community that says "memememe" and start banning people harshly for ruining games. Literally every other online multiplayer game does this right now. Why can't DBD?
Also because that went SO WELL the last time they tried it.

So who would go into ranked mode? Maybe give something to people reaching a certain rank? Yeah this would bring the casuals into ranked mode because they try to get the free stuff… So we have two quques both filled with people who want to ruin games and people who didn´t touch gras since the game launched.
I would argue simply for trying it. Otherwise, things stay as is, and no one is for that, apparently. Make the two modes, trying it for a mid chapter amount of time, and revert if it sucks. I am all for it at this point, as something needs to change. Tired of this topic being a topic lol.
"No one is for that?" You should've been here for all the changes that got scrapped last year because of all the pushback.
People say they want changes, but then they push back against any change that comes.
